Defense Against the Dark Arts Lesson 1

Morning sunlight shined through the open arena windows onto the shiny stone floors and walls, but despite the chilly winter air having full access into the large room, it was relatively warm inside. In fact, the whole atmosphere felt...warm. Flickers of dust and particles could be seen floating through the shafts of light, almost with a glow. Almost enchanting. The ground seemed particularly shiny even, and may have been a tad slippery. Watch your footing! Even the bleak color of the arena had a certain lively factor to it. Or it could have just looked like the same boring arena, depending on one's opinion. The mats and desks were not present this time around, giving the room a more open feeling, though the Professor was still at the front of what would have been the class set up, a merry smile upon her face and waiting for the students arrive.

OOC: Class has begun! If you're just joining us, please don't post arriving late. Pretend as if your student has been in the lesson the entire.

Bart walked in quietly to the classroom. His usual hyper excitement not around him, no he walked in with a more mature way about him and his full beard that was epic in his eyes was on his face. Growing up was great, yes until he was combing his hair before class and found it was falling out. He was balding already which was weird. His newest thoughts on it was Luc made the aging potion without him and now he was the test subject. Not cool cousin not cool.

Looking around the room he noticed he was the first one there, well that was weird. When was Bart Maroon ever first. Well he could at least find a seat maybe towards the front. That was the more grown up thing to do since he was being so mature as of a day ago or so. Seeing the professor, Bart gave a small smile, "Hello Professor."

Once the greeting was out of the way he found his place, but there was no desks so should he just stand? Before he could figure it out completely his footing went out from under him and soon the second year was on the ground with a loud bang. "Oouch my head.. why is it always my head." How many head injuries could one person get.

Ana was trying to be enthusiastic about DADA, really she was, but she couldn't seem to manage it. Her left ankle was aching with her every step, of which there were a lot. The only thing that made her feel better was the thought that she'd be able to sit down when she got to the classroom.

Walking into the room Ana almost burst into tears of frustration and pain. There were no chairs. She was apparently expected to stand up for the whole lesson! She definitely regretted her decision to attend class now, unfortunately she'd already entered the room and knew she wouldn't be able to leave now.

"Hello Professor," Ana said politely as she chose a place to stand. She dropped her bag down in front of her and proceeded to put the majority of her weight on her right foot. It helped but it wasn't going to relieve the pain completely. Ana just hoped that the lesson didn't last overly long.

Aaah, Defence Against the Dark Arts.

This was a class that Lux had both been looking forward to, and dreading. On one hand, she really did want to learn how to defend herself against evil, but on the other... it would involve spell work. Spell work made her nervous still, since she had not had much chance to use it practically. While she had been taught at home, it had been focused on the theory, and had not gone into much depth.

Stepping inside the classroom, she looked around and saw that the room was HUUUUGE. "Morning, Professor! I'm Lux." Why was this floor slippery?"

Mell 01-25-2014 07:53 AM

Stepping into the classroom, the grumpy look that Michael was wearing immediately disappeared as soon as he saw that there were no purple mats on the floor. "Oh thank Merlin." It was going to be a good day.

He made his way deeper into the room and as he passed by the woman at the front, he inclined his head toward her. "Professor." He greeted before finding himself some floor space and dropping his bag onto the floor.

Sander quickly rushed into the arena thinking that he was going to be late and almost slipped on the arena's floor. He quickly grabbed on to the nearest post and managed to right himself thus preventing a bad fall. Then he took another step and his foot slipped from under him. Sander immediately twisted around and grabbed hold of that same post again. He stood there for a moment afraid to move another foot.

As he stood there, he breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that class hadn't started yet. He hated being late for class but lately, he had to spend more time, trimming his nose and ear hairs, shaving off the beard which was now growing faster overnight than it had done before. Then of course he had to moisturize his hands and face. His skin on his hands was becoming more wrinkled each day and just the other day he actually found crows feet near his eyes.

But he was here now. He looked down at the ground and noticed that it looked slick like it was wet or super glossy. Reluctant to loosen his grip on the post, but knowing that he had to, he released his hold around the post. Sander placed one foot in front of the other, carefully tip toeing his way across the room, as he made his way to the Professor who was standing up in front of the class.

'Now why couldn't she have been standing at the entrance?Sander grumpily thought to himself even as he approached her. As he neared her, his grumpiness disappeared and he genuinely smiled at the Professor.

"Good morning, Professor. It is good to see you again. I would like to thank you for giving me permission to duel in the arena. It was really good experience for me." Sander nodded his thanks.

Hmm, Lily thought, turning the corner and into the DADA classroom, still sliding headband onto her head to pull back her hair. She knew enough that she wasn’t about to just let it do whatever it wanted when there might be spells flying around. Honestly, she almost expected that, given it was DADA. In her opinion, that meant there should be dueling or at least some cool defense spells to learn. Knowing that there was also the chance they’d be doing yoga didn’t even dim her opinion of what should happen. Except, the really shiny floor was what had piqued her curiosity. Not the lack of desks, chairs or even yoga mats. The warm classroom and the shiny floor, along with almost sparkly air that made her want to just stick her hand out in front of herself to see if it took on that quality too. The plus side was that her boots had enough traction that she didn’t slip as she’d continued into the classroom. Otherwise she almost certainly would have fallen, since she was much too distracted to pay attention to where she was walking.

She was paying enough attention that she didn’t run into anyone, however. That and she had definitely noticed the boy on the floor moaning about his head, and how oddly Ana was standing. Things were definitely weird, but she chose not to question it. There could have been logical explanations as well, and she wasn’t entirely sure the redhead would have wanted her concern anyhow. She still sent her a smile, though, along with Lux as she passed the second year on her way to an open spot in the room. “Good morning Professor Romanos,” she greeted the professor with another smile, as she’d let her bag drop to the shiny floor at her feet and brought her attention to the front of the classroom. Hopefully they’d get an explanation for everything soon enough.

TeafortheSoul 01-25-2014 08:41 AM

Oh was she actually going to teach them useful things this term? West eyed the arena, noting there were none of those stupid Yoga mats, and then looked at the professor. Yeah. She better.

He was done putting up with it and still wasn't over his near-death experience. Y'know the one that he might have been able to defend himself and his best mate from had Romanos done her job and not taught them to laugh in the face of danger? Yeah. That near death experience.

So it was that while in the past West might have bounced on in grinning at the professor (she had been one of his favourites after all), the look he directed at her was almost hostile.

Better be good.

Presley Black 01-25-2014 09:04 AM

Defense was already Gwen's favorite class and she hadn't even had one class period yet. It sounded cool though, like magical martial arts. Her mom had always wanted to get Gwen and her siblings into martial arts, but her father said it wasn't necessary. In a city filled with people all they had to do was shout and they would get attention. Besides, if anybody hurt his kids they would be facing legal charges. So she had never learned Karate or Taekwondo or anything like that, but she'd always wanted to. And now she got to learn it with MAGIC!

She skipped into the class unsurprised to see that there weren't any desks. Good. Martial arts class shouldn't have desks. She set her backpack down against the wall and took a seat a little further out, but close enough that she could grab her backpack if she needed it.

Should she take off her shoes? Maybe she would wait on that until the professor gave instructions. It didn't look like other people were taking off their shoes. Gwen was nothing if not a follower.

Were those floaty things in the room germs?

Rhodes remembered all too well what had happened during that one Defense lesson she had attended, the one where everyone including the Professor began sneezing, and she was not about to have something like that happen to her. She had managed to avoid the sneezing plague once, she was sure she could do it again.

So, as slowly as she possibly could, which was pretty darn slow, in her opinion, she made her way into the room, doing her very best to avoid every single floating particle thing that came in her way. Some she manged to blow out of her face, and others she managed to simply dodge, but mostly she just stayed out of the light. She couldn't see the floating things when she wasn't in the light.

Oh. Professor. She looked healthy. Thank Merlin.

"Hi, Professor." Rhodes continued on her very slow journey into the classroom and found a spot to stand near a smallish Ravenclaw girl (Gwenhwyfar). If those germ things came close to her, she would just use the girl as a shield.

Well gee legs, a little faster would be nice. Lex wasn't at all impressed by the speed at which her legs were taking her into one of her favourite classes. Left to her own devices and maybe even some joint pain relievers she would have been bolting into this place fully ready to learn. Of course she was still ready to learn if she could even make it to the centre of the room before Christmas! Merlin!

"Morning Professor--" Wait wait wait. Lex took a look around then sighed, kinda annoyed without much reason for being annoyed. "We didn't get robbed again, did we? I mean I can't deal with that this term--you know how potentially stressing that can be?? I'm already getting grey hairs and do NOT need anymore." The whole Lottie and her deciding to give her hair a week before seeing the Healer wasn't the best. That the past week it moved from being a lock or two to somewhere near half her head!

She wanted her blonde hair back!!! And the furniture She wanted those back too!

"Hello, Good morning, Professor,'' Adi said with a small smile. He was not in the best of moods lately but he was trying his best to go about his usual cheery self though this was proving a bit of challenge.

Adi noted the mats were missing and he was relieved. No mats meant no yoga, right? And where were the desks? He set off towards the other students, not paying attention to the floor. If he did, he might have realised it looked different. Anyway, one of his feet skidded causing him to loose his balance. As a result he landed flat on his back in front of Sander. "OUCH!'' The base of his back hurt. This did absolutely nothing to improve his grumpy mood. Adi peered up at Sander. "Hello. You look extra tall today,'' he said mildly.

MudInMyBlood 01-25-2014 01:54 PM

Hannah was glad that as she stepped into the room that it was actually pretty warm. Maybe she would be able to feel her toes throughout the whole lesson. She was still moving slower than a 100 year old woman, and she was as cranky as even, but she was hoping for some nice hexing practice or something for today's lesson. Something to make using her sore bones worth it.

Why was the professor that chippy she wondered as she looked at her beaming face. It was waaaay too early for all of that in Hannah's opinion. "Hello professor." That was all that she was getting though.

Felixir 01-25-2014 02:17 PM

Toby entered the arena with one hand still self-consciously trying to flatten his hair so it was well forward. He was starting to worry about his poor poor hair, even more than his achey and slower than usual movements. And it wasn't just about the odd grey hairs that had started cropping up.

But he was momentarily distracted from his hair as his feet slipped ever so slightly on the floor. Toby quickly recovered himself and looked around the room. Okay. No desks or anything. Cool.

So Tobias went over and gathered with the rest of the group, dogding his way close enough to the front that he'd be able to see Professor Romanos, to whom he offered a friendly smile.

Ian struggled to walk with his painful hip. His cane tapping on the stone floor as he shuffled slowly into the classroom. He saw a smiling young woman in the place where a professor should be and she was smiling. young whippersnappers have no respect for the elderly Ian thought to himself. He merely nodded at the smiling idiot at the front of the room as he continued shuffling to his seat. Good thing he had found those comfortable house slippers this morning. He hadn't noticed, but his hair was mostly gone and not too concerned with his appearance, he'd dressed Ina blue cardigan sweater and blue plaid pajama bottoms with a hufflepuff tshirt he'd seen in his trunk. When he finally made it to a seat he slowly lowered himself to it before exhaling mightily.

Mention of Lily / SilverTiger

Defense Against the Dark Arts was one of the cool subjects for Astrid, so she was really looking forward to the class today. Never know what you could learn in order to protect yourselves from soul-sucking demons or pointy teeth creatures, y'know? And these kinds of classes were fun too, yeah? Because there could be activities and stuff, and that was cool.

"Hello, Professor," Astrid greeted the woman in front as she went inside to join her classmates. "My name is Astr-WHOOOAAA." She nearly slipped. Dang, wrong time to wax the floor, right? At least she didn't attack the floor. That would've been humiliating. Thank Merlin. "Sorry, Professor. Astrid. My name is Astrid." She got a smile from the Slytherin too.

She went over to join Lily and smiled at her friend. "Hi."

hermygirl 01-25-2014 03:52 PM

And Lex...

Benjy did a little fist pump as he saw the layout of the classroom. There wasn't a mat in sight, which hopefully equated to NO YOGA! Well, at least, no more yoga. He already did enough with his quidditch training, and so he was going to take the lack of mats as a definitely bonus.

He stepped lightly into the centre of the room, easily overtaking Lex in the process. That was the Gryffie Prefect, right? He stopped right in front of her, and peered at her curiously as he tapped his finger lightly against his nose. "I don't mean to be rude or anything Lex, but what have you done to your hair?" He touched it curiously. "It's unlike you to be a trend follower..."

Was that what all the cool kids were doing...dying their hair grey?

Why are these floors so slippery? Anyway I'm Oichi, would you like a hand, I'll be a bit more careful this time.", Oichi said as she got up and held out her hand.

She turned around and saw it was a girl with grey hair, "What are you talking about with the term robbery and why is you're hair grey?" Perhaps that last part was a bit insensitive but I've never seen anyone that young, especially a girl with grey hair before.

Lex blinked at the sudden figure before her. Wait the what now? Bliiiink.

Oh! Benjy! She was about to give a greeting, smile already in place to do so when he brought up the hair she'd been trying and failing to hide. No matter how many times she dyed it or got it dyed FOR HER it just went back to grey, taking more strands with it!! It was getting ridiculous. Alexa smacked his hand away lightly, ready to explain but then he went one about her being a trend follower????

EXCUUUUUUUUUUUSE HIM??

Alexa fixed him with a rather pointed look. "I have blonde hair, I like blonde hair. Do you actually think I would do this to myself, regardless of what every other bloody idiot's doing??" No no no! Absolutely not. Lex pulled a lock loose from her bun and held it out for him to get a better look. "Not dyed, just awfully worrying."

Defense Against The Dark Arts was always interesting. Whether it was the yoga or weird atmosphere with the mats, Nigel did not know. Nigel walked into the room and noticed this room never changed at all.

He was a little too distracted by the floor being tad bit slippery that he forgot to greet Romanos. Just get to a mat before he embarrasses himself. Hopefully this lesson would be relaxing enough to not give him anymore grey hair. Grey Hair was evil and Nigel had no idea how he was getting it.

Okay, Zen and maybe some Yoga would help.

He winced as he swatted his hand away, and pouted at her disdainfully. What did he do? He shook his hand lightly to shake the stingy away and eyed her back. What happened to the smiling happy greeting, HMM?

"Well..." He smiled at her hopefully. "I've honestly no idea. I thought it was a bit strange, but..." he scratched his own very NON-grey hair lightly, and peered at the lock she was holding out for him to see. It was clearly not of her usual golden blonde, and instead a rather dull shade of grey. And she hadn't dyed it. He rubbed the stubble on his chin, a frown etched between his eyebrows.

"So, to check I've got this, you definitely didn't do that to yourself?" He shook his head. "You shouldn't stress about your OWLs so much," he said after a while. "I mean, I know you're a Prefect and everything, but I managed okay." And no grey hairs here, see? "I'll help you study if you want. Help make up for..." well, whatever had caused him to get his hand swatted. "I've got that candy still too."

Gryffindoll 01-25-2014 04:50 PM

The room had been on the first floor all along. It really shouldn't have been that hard to find, but Louis didn't necessarily pride himself in his sense of direction and the new school didn't exactly follow a simple layout. But. He found the room and that's all that mattered. Lips slightly curved with the hint of a smile on his face, the Gryffindor walked into the warmly-lit room and--

SLIP!
... ALMOST. He almost slipped. One foot on the slippery floor of the room and the other still out in the corridor, Louis froze in the doorway when he felt himself just sliiiding right in. Why was the floor slippery?! Very cautiously, he brought his other foot and the rest of himself inside.

Perhaps the first dark art they'd be defending themselves from would be slippery floors?

With curious blue eyes, Louis looked around the open arena. It was oddly comforting. But he appreciated it, since he'd been a little nervous about his first Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson. "Good morning, Professor," greeted the boy as he neared the front of the room, where the professor and most students stood. The Gryffindor looked around at all the unfamiliar faces without paying much attention, but something then jumped at him -- was that grey hair on some of their heads? ... What? Okay, he obviously needed to get out of the common room more. A whole new fashion trend had started and it went right past him.

Lottiepot 01-25-2014 04:51 PM

Terry was definitely not happy today. Not only did he still have his clicky, creaky hip but he had also found one solitary grey lock of hair among his blonde mop. He had shoved it behind the rest of his hair as soon as he found it, hoping that if he forgot about it, it would go away fairly quickly. It must have been the stress from last year. It must have only just caught up with him and emerged as that incy wincy tiny strand of grey hair. At least it wasn't a clump, right?

He stepped into the classroom and briefly glanced around. No chairs? Must mean that the class was going to be practical based. That was helpful seeing as the lesson was designed to keep you safe from those who would mean you harm. Kind of important. The sixth year entered the room, nodded at the Professor as he greeted her. "Hello, Professor" he smiled briefly before taking a spot next to West.. Who didn't look particularly happy with the Professor.

Hmm..

Hey Ju 01-25-2014 04:51 PM

Bart and Oichi

Had Sophie been any less careful, she would've ended up on the floor like those two other students over there. The only good thing about them being on the floor was that it warner Sophie that she should be careful, so she walked into the room slower than she normally would. "Morning, professor!" She quickly waved to professor Romanos with a smile as she made her way towards the two fallen kids.

"Do you... need any help?" The Hufflepuff asked both Gryffindors on the floor. She didn't know any of them, but well... they were on the floor and the youngest one seemed to have hurt himself. She made sure the older girl was able to stand up without help and also offered a hand for the young boy. Because y'know, the girl had just fallen too, so maybe she needed a hand helping the boy up? Oh, and she was already talking to Alexa. Wha? Okay then.

It was too early in the morning and Sophie's brain was acting a bit slooowwww...

"Perhaps, but I always thought it was magic that the professors used to decorate the classroom for each individual lesson. The professor may have just put the furniture and mats away because we don't need them for this lesson. The budget cuts may effect our quality of food and even the professors we get but not what they can do in a lesson which is magic. As off you're hair, I'm sorry, I had no idea that the greying of you're hair was a permanant accident. I you absolutely certain a professor can't help you? And I'm sorry if I upset you, I did not not mean to, I'm Oichi by the way.".

West tooooo. ^_^

Defence Against The Dark Arts.

Delilah loved this subject. Not as much as she loved Charms but yeah. It was still one of her favourite subjects and she was totally looking forward to this lesson. She entered the classroom, feeling rather bright and cheerful.

"Morning, professor!" She chirped, giving the professor a grin too. See, GOOD MOOD. The Hufflepuff joined the rest of the class and somehow ended up standing next to the Slytherin student leader. His name was West, yeah? She smiled at him before dropping her bag on the floor and turned to face the front of the class.

hermionesclone 01-25-2014 05:25 PM

Slow and steady may win the race but slow and steady wasn't going to get him to Defence Against the Dark Arts any sooner. And he would have tried to quicken his walking pace but everytime he tried, the shooting pain in his lower back would return. Every. Time. ... Not fair. He had Quidditch coming u--

Alec had questions. Naturally.

Having finally huffed and puffed his way over towards the door of the Defence Against the Dark Arts, classroom, the seventh year stood by the door and looked inside, a confused expression spread across his face. This was the right classroom, right? He hadn't somehow ended up in another classroom by mistake? A peek inside and over at Romanos told him no.

... Right. Okay. He... was just going to head inside. Slowly. "Hello, Professor!" he called, smiling over at her and giving her a small wave. And he was going to stand here, inside the classroom, yeah? Just stand. Not move too much. Should he ask about the lack of mats? Did that mean no yoga today? ... Which, thinking about it, was both a shame and a great thing. A shame because the eighteen year old could really use some sitting down time and a good thing because... did you know how many stretches you needed to do for yoga? His back wasn't up for it.

Defense Against The Dark Arts.

Messer always looking forward to this lesson but today he was not. His hair turned grey. He had wrinkles. He was not happy with that. And not just that, it seem he was moving slower than usual, his legs were not being very cooperative with him today. The DADA classroom was in the first floor, its not that far from his common room compare to where the Divination classroom was but why he felt like he just came back from a marathon?

When he entered the classroom, the Seventh year was a bit relieved that he didn't see the usual mats. He just couldn't handle doing Yoga or any form of sport today. "Hello, Professor. How are you today?" He hoped that the DADA Professor feeling better than him.

Tessa walked into class, practically bouncing she was so excited. Gone was the worry about her greying hair or slowed reflexes- for the moment. Most of her worries were put aside- until she reached the door. She saw other students entering and sliding all over the quite shiny floor. Okay, caution it was.

She slowly made her way across the room, stepping carefully and solidly, even taking small steps like she would on ice.

"Hello Professor," she said with a smile. "Change the floor treatment?" she asked, with a soft laugh to herself. Glancing around, she saw Sander and Lux had already arrived, so she went over to join them- shooting them both grins.

Bay was following a few other students in when he noticed another Gryffindor that he has seen at their table in the great hall almost slip. Bay moved as fast as he could because the floor was all wet. "Heyyy… careful now" he said while walking slowly with the other boy. "Im Bay" he said while looking around the room.. where was everything? the room seemed mighty empty.

While passing the professor he said his hello. "Good morning Professor" … so this other guy here seemed to very quite? hmm maybe he should talk to him more "so how are your classes doing?" he asked.

Defense Against the Dark Arts....

This was one of the classes Kace was interested in. He was excited to be learning something new. When he approached the classroom, he realized that there wasn't any matts for yoga. That was a relief because Kace didn't really want to do it today. He then saw the professor near the front of the room. "Hello Professor! How was your summer?"

Then he waited patiently and wondered what they could be learning.

Alex was excited as she arrived for Defense Against the Dark Arts class. It was her favorite class and she couldn't wait to see what the Professor had planned for them today. Despite the fact that she had noticed quite a bit more gray hair on her head this morning, Alex was determined that this was going to be a good day.

Once inside the room, Alex spotted the Professor and said, "Good Morning Professor" She then glanced around, searching for a seat. Seeing Sander, Tessa and Lux, she made her way over to grab a seat near them. Giving a wave to all, Alex proceeded to sit down.

Sarah was eager for this lesson to be begin... and the absence of the yoga mats was even better. It was nice and open in here...
Sarah smiled at the professor, " hello professor - had a great summer?" she asked.
She gave a wave at the other pupils before taking her seat and opening her book. She was ready for her sixth year of DADA

Louis had been staring at the back of someone’s grey head when he suddenly heard someone introducing themselves to what could only be him. A bit startled, he turned around to face the newcomer who had just identified himself as ‘Bay’. Ah. Louis recognized that face. He had never spoken with the boy before, but he’d seen him around the Gryffindor Common Room. “Nice to meet you,” the fifth year replied politely. Here was his first chance at making friends with a fellow Gryffindor, he’d better play nice. Well, Louis was nice by default anyway. “I’m Louis Bolton. I think I’ve seen you around… Gryffindor too, right?”

Then Bay was asking him about his classes.
“Pretty good I’d say,” Louis responded with a nod. “But not so much Ancient Runes. I’ve always been rubbish with Runology,” he confessed with a soft chuckle.

Bri walked into the class, she was getting used to the layout of the castle. She was curious about this class. She didn't see any desks, interesting. She smiled at the professor. "Hello Professor! My Name is Bri Granger" The young girl introduced herself before finding a spot to stand.

"How about we move to the side so we won't get into trouble of blocking the door way?" he asked while pointing over to the left side of the room.. well it didn't really matter where they went because the room was empty.

Caleb didn't know why he was getting so much facial hair lately, but he wasn't exactly complaining. What he WAS complaining about though was the fact that it was coming in not dark brown like his normal hair, but PEPPERED. Like dark brown and GRAY. That wasn't supposed to happen, was it? He was on gray alert in his own hair now and made a mental note to do some research later. Was it normal to start going gray this young? Or just go gray with your whiskers? Until he figured it out, he'd started shaving. He was such a man now!

"Hello Professor!" he said with a smile as he took his seat. He ran a hand over his face and felt the stubble that was already appearing despite shaving this morning. Ugh. So annoying! Damn you, puberty!

Louis decided he liked this Bay character. Fellow Gryffindor and also a victim of runic scriptures? What was there not to like?

As Bay suggested they move aside, the dark-haired boy nodded his head in agreement and walked with him toward the left-side of the room, where the other Gryffindor boy had been pointing to earlier. Louis took a second glance at the other students and turned back to Bay with furrowed brows, "Hey, would you happen to know about that... new trend?" he asked, looking puzzled. "The one with the grey hair that everyone's wearing, I mean."

So Asher was pretty much excited about this dada class mostly because he had not had a lesson in this subject since the last time he was here. So he knew that he would have to brush up on his defensive skills.

This morning has been super fun getting ready in fact. The seventeen year old had to shave this morning. He had been doing a lot of shaving his face lately. Like every other day? Was that normal for a man boy of his age to be doing that? He wasn't sure.

As the Slytherin walked into the classroom. He nodded to the professor and said "good morning, Professor!" And smiled before he when to find a place to stand.

AlwaysSnapesGirl 01-25-2014 09:33 PM

No mats or desks? That should be a good sign they would be doing a lot of moving around for this lesson, right? Not just answering questions and such? Good. Maybe this lesson would be fun then.

Whoaaa, a bit slippery though. Penelope lost her footing for a moment when she entered, not expecting the floor to be so slippery, but managed to catch herself before she actually fell to the ground. Phew. After straightening up and pausing for just a moment to make sure she had her balance, she moved in a bit more. "Hi Professor," she said with a nod to Romanos. And then just stayed where she was. Yeah, this was a good place to stand for now. No need to move too much yet.

"Ahhhhh…..AHHHHHHHH……CHOOOOOOOOO" he said quite loudly but quickly added a "excuse me" He instantly started to feel nervous. he whispered over to Louis.. "hey man…. do I have like boogies in my nose now?" He didn't want to go through the whole class with a bat in the cave.

Wait what… people were doing what to their hair? "Errrrrrr noooo… Seriously grey hair?? why would anyone do that?" he asked while fixing his own hair automatically.

She was a little later arriving for class than she'd normally be, all because of that stupid knee, still paining her day and night. Along with the aching feeling that never relented, the joint issue slowed Alice down a bit. Which meant she was one of the few students who hadn't gotten a good standing spot.

Weaving her way through the other students and up to the front wasn't an option on this slippery floor, so the seventh year was stuck at the back like a latecomer always was. Couldn't see anything properly from here, either. Why was everyone in Hogwarts so tall?

There was a little bit of Romanos' head she spotted, though. Hi professor.

Once the greeting was out of the way he found his place, but there was no desks so should he just stand? Before he could figure it out completely his footing went out from under him and soon the second year was on the ground with a loud bang. "Oouch my head.. why is it always my head." How many head injuries could one person get.

She quickly waved to professor Romanos with a smile as she made her way towards the two fallen kids.

"Do you... need any help?" The Hufflepuff asked both Gryffindors on the floor.

Oh...oh my...that indeed was a beard.

Wasn't the lad a second year? Was this the result of another Arithmancy lesson?

"Good morning, Mister-" OH MY! Just one after the other, the students slid...like dominos. "O. boʐye! Mister Maroon! Miss...Paulidine, goodness gracious. Are you two alright?" She could've sworn she saw the young boy hit his head, though hoping to Merlin it was just a trick of light. The floor wasn't THAT slippery was it?

Taking notice of Sophie's helpful hand, Medea smiled to the girl as she moved around and tested the floor near the front of their makeshift 'classroom', looking for the particularly slippery spots that needed evening out.

"Good morning, Miss Konstantinova." Medea smiled towards the fifth year, continuing to slide her feet across the floor, looking for the extra slippery parts. Like........right there. Eh. Could've sworn she'd gotten all of them.

Oh good, yes, another youngster joining her lesson. Not that the older students weren't welcome, though they usually came with grumpy expressions and an air of not wanting to be there. "Dobro outro, Miss...Carrington." There was indeed a Lux Carrington on her roster if she wasn't mistaken. "Be careful of the floor, molia. There are a few sections that are a bit too slippery."

Aw third years. The mid section between the grumpy students and enthusiastic youngsters. "Hello, Mister Toussaint." she smiled warmly at the Gryffindor, evening out a particularly slippery section upon the floor.

It was really good experience for me." Sander nodded his thanks.

...

She was not an old Professor, and even if she was, who would have been oblivious to that display of...well, that display? "Dobro outro, Mister Strand." she nodded towards the Seventh year, moving past him towards the entrance doors as if her shoes were immune to the floor's slipperiness. Apparently it was TOO slippery over there. "Oh, you are more than velcome to use the arena for dueling, though do be careful, yes?"

Fixing the slipperiness near the entrance doors, she smiled towards the sixth year. "Good morning, Miss Andrews." Some nice good shoes on, that one.

So it was that while in the past West might have bounced on in grinning at the professor (she had been one of his favourites after all), the look he directed at her was almost hostile.

Better be good.

See? SEE? No enthusiasm in the older students whatsoever. Though that familiar look upon West's face was not due to being an older student. Having had quite a bit of time to become accustomed to that look, she knew where it was from. "No smiles today, Mister Odessa?"

Should she take off her shoes? Maybe she would wait on that until the professor gave instructions. It didn't look like other people were taking off their shoes. Gwen was nothing if not a follower.

.......oh?

This was seriously the first student she saw who sat down, not due to slipping upon the floor either. Though, upon seeing the Ravenclaw robes the girl was wearing, Medea smiled. The house already perfectly matched the youngster.

Should....she say something? She should say something.

Or just watch.

"Zradsti, Miss Merivel." she greeted the third year as she passed by. Slowly. So slowly.

Why was the professor that chippy she wondered as she looked at her beaming face. It was waaaay too early for all of that in Hannah's opinion. "Hello professor." That was all that she was getting though.

Was it just her or were the older students reeeeaaally laying on the grumpy mood this morning? Was there some party last night and now they were just tired? "Good morning, Miss Lockwood." she nodded towards the Slytherin. Staring. Watching. Squinting. Thinking. COMING TO CONCLUSIONS.

When he finally made it to a seat he slowly lowered himself to it before exhaling mightily.

Goodness, a lot of these kids looked worse for wear today. Though it just seemed over the top to her that someone even brought a cane in. Really, what in Merlin's beard was going on? They were acting like old people! Was it an assignment? It was an assignment wasn't it...

Muggle studies maybe?

Because there could be activities and stuff, and that was cool.

"Hello, Professor," Astrid greeted the woman in front as she went inside to join her classmates. "My name is Astr-WHOOOAAA." She nearly slipped. Dang, wrong time to wax the floor, right? At least she didn't attack the floor. That would've been humiliating. Thank Merlin. "Sorry, Professor. Astrid. My name is Astrid." She got a smile from the Slytherin too.

She went over to join Lily and smiled at her friend. "Hi."

She'd almost missed the sixth year's greeting, having been focused solely on the two Hufflepuffs who joined them previously, though her gaze snapped to the Slytherin as she...almost slipped. "Oh, good morning Miss...Emerson." Oh yes, there was an Astrid Emerson on her roster.

Okay, Zen and maybe some Yoga would help.

Giving a slight nod to the two quiet Ravenclaws who'd arrived, she was a bit too distracted to mind the lack of greeting from the both of them, eyeing those students whom looked more like they should be at the healer's office than here.

A whole new fashion trend had started and it went right past him.

.......

.................

Didn't she just fix the entrance area?

Squinting at the floor, the Professor headed over to re-fix it. Or at least the area she apparently missed. The floor needed to be slippery, but not THAT slippery. "Dobro outro, Mister Bolton." she smiled to the Gryffindor, searching for those particularly slippery places by sliding her feet across the floor.

Hmm..

"Helloooooo, Mister Radley." she greeted warmly, somewhat distracted with pointing her wand at the floor and muttering something under her breath. That...should fix it. STAY! FLOOR! Stay.

"Good...morning..." Did her ears decieve her? Glancing up from her task, she watched the Hufflepuff join the rest of the class. Good Merlin, was there really a happy older student in her lesson today? Shrugging to herself, she rubbed her ear and went back to making the floor a little less slippery. How 'bout that.

Oh, goodness, Merlin. Her faith that a few happy students would show up was returning. "Good morning, Mister Summers!" she smiled back at the boy. Well, no. Not boy. Young man. "Or should I say, Head Boy. Congratulations."

If one more student came in here looking like a tired sloth, she was going to turn her lesson into an outdoor marathon. Or she'd think about it at least. "Helloooooo, Mister Messer. Better than most of your classmates, I can confidently say." she chuckled lightly. Really. They looked awful.

The more smiles there were, the merrier the class would be. "You could say that." she laughed, glancing to the shiny floors. As far as she knew though, most of the super slippery parts were fixed so...no more super sliding, right?

That was a relief because Kace didn't really want to do it today. He then saw the professor near the front of the room. "Hello Professor! How was your summer?"

Then he waited patiently and wondered what they could be learning.

"Good mooorning, Mister Lecium." she said with a tad song like nature, smiling towards the Hufflepuff. "My summer vos very nice, thank you. I do hope yours was a memorable one."

Once inside the room, Alex spotted the Professor and said, "Good Morning Professor" She then glanced around, searching for a seat. Seeing Sander, Tessa and Lux, she made her way over to grab a seat near them. Giving a wave to all, Alex proceeded to sit down.

This was the first student where she'd actually noticed the contrast in hair color. Suddenly reminded of Alexa's comments about recieving grey hairs because of stress, Medea absentmindedly raised an eyebrow. Were NEWTS really this stressful nowawadays? "Dobro outro, Miss Delaine."

As the Slytherin walked into the classroom. He nodded to the professor and said "good morning, Professor!" And smiled before he when to find a place to stand.

More smiley students. The more the merrier! "Hello, Mister Romalotti." she smiled in return at the boy, before taking a glance at her watch. Her newly charmed watch, that is. Told the time perfectly and wasn't all...not perfect...anymore. Oh my, it was getting very close to class starting.

"Hello, Miss Greenwell." she nodded to the Gryffindor, noting the lack of falling to the floor. GOOD.

There was a little bit of Romanos' head she spotted, though. Hi professor.

With a final glance to her watch, Medea looked up and started to wave her wand at the double doors to close them. Though suddenly stopped, due to an almost latecomer. Alright. Was that all of them? Waiting a few more seconds for any possible last students to round the corner, she waved her wand...and the doors creaked shut.

Okay then. Taking a deep breath, she moved back to her position at the front of the class...before moving to the third row of seats upon the stands so she could see everyone. What was there, one student who was sitting? With a slippery floor like they had, you'd think they'd sit. "You may sit down, you know." she smiled in amusement, giving them a verbal nudge. Yes, sit. You all looked like death. Most...anyways.

"Before ve begin..." Taking her own seat upon the stands, she crossed a leg over the other and continued. "Does anyone vont to tell me vot's up? Vos there a party last night or something? Or is this some unusual assignment you've received?"

*grabs for reasons*

Vesper wasn't in a hurry today...but unlike other days when it was difficult to drag herself to lessons because of depression, she was actually in a fantastically great mood. She'd worked out an intricate piece to this new composition she'd been working on...and also, sleep had happened. Probably because her brain had been able to relax after piano and composition stuff. It was hard to get her brain to stop when it had too much going on...Like jumbled ideas and pieces and snippets of music that she just couldn't string together.

...But, yea...Ves was taking her time with walking down to Defense Against the Dark Arts. Why not, right? She'd worked out exactly how much time she had (on standard) to get to certain lessons from her dorm...and since she hadn't dropped Defense, she knew she had time to walk slowly.

When she arrived, everyone was standing around and waiting. From what she could see, there were no desks...or mats this time. Yet, Professor Romanos stood at the front, beaming at them. Vesper liked this professor. She was always so pleasant...and the yoga wasn't too bad, either. Marcus made them do some of the same moves and techniques for quidditch reasons.

Pausing at the back of the group, the Ravenclaw just so happened to look to her left...and she'd immediately wished she hadn't.

Oh, look. It's an Alice.

Quickly turning her attention to some other point in the room...mainly so she wasn't giving disgusted looks (something she was doing when she hadn't even realized it lately)...Ves settled on looking at the floor....that was terribly shiny for some reason.

Heh, weird...

Then they were starting...Taking a seat, she kept her eyes on the floor, still not bothering to look at the Gryffindor Captain. She hadn't partied the night before, no. She'd actually slept...So, instead of offering an answer to the professor's question, Vesper remained silent. Mhm.

His Banner side. Woop there it is.

Yeah because he was going to smile about another lesson where he didn't learn how to NOT DIE? yeah? He just shrugged. And then that question... what was she saying exactly? He was fine. Nothing wrong with him whatsoever.

He was in enough of a mood about the class that he didn't really care to notice the various ailments of his graying classmates. Because who cared; they were all going to get soul sucked by dementors anyway due to the rubbish Yoga-focused lessons that weren't defense against anything at ALL not preparing them appropriately?

Cassirin 01-25-2014 11:15 PM

Ancient looking souls? Did that mean they all looked tired, or unhappy or... maybe it was good? Mo's aunt liked to tell him that he had an old soul, and she made it sound happy. Mo bumped Ves on the back of the head as he shifted to get out of Alice's line of sight.

"End of Quidditch tryouts, Professor. That's why I look like a Muggle bus ran over me, at least." Or that was his theory, considering the constant aching in his knees.

Okay, see. he thought it was strange which should have been reason enough for him not suggesting or saying anything.

"Good morning, Miss Konstantinova." Medea smiled towards the fifth year, continuing to slide her feet across the floor, looking for the extra slippery parts. Like........right there. Eh. Could've sworn she'd gotten all of them.

"Hello, Mister Toussaint." she smiled warmly at the Gryffindor, evening out a particularly slippery section upon the floor.

Fixing the slipperiness near the entrance doors, she smiled towards the sixth year. "Good morning, Miss Andrews." Some nice good shoes on, that one.

See? SEE? No enthusiasm in the older students whatsoever. Though that familiar look upon West's face was not due to being an older student. Having had quite a bit of time to become accustomed to that look, she knew where it was from. "No smiles today, Mister Odessa?"

.......oh?

This was seriously the first student she saw who sat down, not due to slipping upon the floor either. Though, upon seeing the Ravenclaw robes the girl was wearing, Medea smiled. The house already perfectly matched the youngster.

Should....she say something? She should say something.

Or just watch.

"Zradsti, Miss Merivel." she greeted the third year as she passed by. Slowly. So slowly.

Robbed? Her? Them?

As serious of a topic that was, Medea couldn't help but chuckle. Goodness gracious, grey hairs from stress...from being robbed? Oh, children didn't get grey hairs. "Miss Cambridge..." Hold the snidget. The fifth's year hair DID kinda look different. Must've been the light though. Must've been. "No, ve didn't get robbed."

Alright, seriously. She could've sworn she hadn't made the floor THAT slippery. Although, now that she thought about it, her shoes were of a different make. Probably had a little more traction than the students'. "Goodness. Careful, Mister Rehman. Are you alright?"

Goodness, a lot of these kids looked worse for wear today. Though it just seemed over the top to her that someone even brought a cane in. Really, what in Merlin's beard was going on? They were acting like old people! Was it an assignment? It was an assignment wasn't it...

Muggle studies maybe?

Potions?

She'd almost missed the sixth year's greeting, having been focused solely on the two Hufflepuffs who joined them previously, though her gaze snapped to the Slytherin as she...almost slipped. "Oh, good morning Miss...Emerson." Oh yes, there was an Astrid Emerson on her roster.

Giving a slight nod to the two quiet Ravenclaws who'd arrived, she was a bit too distracted to mind the lack of greeting from the both of them, eyeing those students whom looked more like they should be at the healer's office than here.

"Helloooooo, Mister Radley." she greeted warmly, somewhat distracted with pointing her wand at the floor and muttering something under her breath. That...should fix it. STAY! FLOOR! Stay.

Oh, goodness, Merlin. Her faith that a few happy students would show up was returning. "Good morning, Mister Summers!" she smiled back at the boy. Well, no. Not boy. Young man. "Or should I say, Head Boy. Congratulations."

If one more student came in here looking like a tired sloth, she was going to turn her lesson into an outdoor marathon. Or she'd think about it at least. "Helloooooo, Mister Messer. Better than most of your classmates, I can confidently say." she chuckled lightly. Really. They looked awful.

The more smiles there were, the merrier the class would be. "You could say that." she laughed, glancing to the shiny floors. As far as she knew though, most of the super slippery parts were fixed so...no more super sliding, right?

"Good day, Mister Bay." she greeted the fifth year in her usual warm and welcoming manner.

"Good mooorning, Mister Lecium." she said with a tad song like nature, smiling towards the Hufflepuff. "My summer vos very nice, thank you. I do hope yours was a memorable one."

"Good day, Miss Edwards." she smiled. "Oh, it vos excellent, yes. I hope yours vos as vell?"

It was always lovely to see the youngsters make it to lessons on time. The castle was rather large, and so very many places one could get lost. "Good morning, Miss Granger." she smiled and nodded to the Hufflepuff first year.

Oh yes, the Gryffindor with the unusual yet splendid name. "Godo morning, Miss Goldman." Christmas Goldman. How wonderful was that? "It vos lovely, thank you. I hope yours vos a memorable one."

This wasn't another young student already receiving facial whiskers, was it? It was just the light, right? These students were growing up waaaay too fast! SHE REMEMBERED AS JUST BABIES! Sorta. First years. Close enough. "Good morning, Mister Newell." she smiled towards the youngster.

"Hello, Miss Greenwell." she nodded to the Gryffindor, noting the lack of falling to the floor. GOOD.

What was with all the ancient looking souls, HUH?

The chuckling made her think just maybe the Professor wasn't actually taking her seriously and truthfully...that annoyed her more than the slippery floor and the missing furniture. This was serious business!!! HER HAIR was going GREY. Before you knew it it would be white. Given the original colour she was surprized it didn't just skip ahead to white. Ughhhh.

Oh but then it looked like the woman finally noticed half her head was covered in grey hair. Finally. "Good to know." She said, taking a seat on the floor after much laboured moving and trying not to work out her back too much. It was feeling a lot tighter than she remembered and she was praying whatever happened to Professor Airey wouldn't get to her. No big back cracking pain please.

Ow...ow...ow...Ahhhh. Okay. Seated.

Lex raised her hand, not knowing about anyone else but herself in all this. "I'm getting grey hairs Professor, I've tried dying it blonde again and had Lottie try with magic but it just went right back and keeps spreading. If this is an assignment, I haven't been told about it and would like some extra credit for being an involuntary test subject. I take all rewards in candy where possible." And a solemn nod. It wasn't Romanos' doing but she hung out in the staffroom. Surely she'd pass along the message. "And in future, can I suggest no assignments that give me joint stiffness and wrinkles? Please? Daddy's starting to wonder what I'm doing with all the wrinkle cream." Keeping wrinkles under control obviously. No way was she walking around with less than perfect skin and that coming from Alexa was saying A LOT.

Dora wasn't attending this lesson for the lesson so much as she was for the people and observing. But she WAS getting so much better at coming to these things. Good prefect and all.

Ahem.

She had a spot behind Slytherins cause they were interesting to watch and all, but she was also paying attention to the lesson. Except not really.

"Good morning, Miss Konstantinova." Medea smiled towards the fifth year, continuing to slide her feet across the floor, looking for the extra slippery parts. Like........right there. Eh. Could've sworn she'd gotten all of them.

"Hello, Mister Toussaint." she smiled warmly at the Gryffindor, evening out a particularly slippery section upon the floor.

If it wasn't an assignment, then there was some virus going on. Surely. Winter weather was a terrible pain at times with colds and flus.

Bay moved towards the front of the class. "Errr Professor… I'm not sure whats going on and I haven't seen this assigned for any class??" Bay didn't' care if anyone liked him or not for saying it…. Grey hair…. who would want that.. They were all young and had full colour in their hair.. If that made Bay a little shallow than good.

Deezerz 01-25-2014 11:28 PM

For some strange reason the floor was slippery. Having not known this, Beverly almost fell flat on her back IF she had not grasped the closest thing to her, which was someone's robes sleeve. After recovering from her near death experience, she walked toward the stands where the professor was perched.

That...was embarrassing. She mumbled an apology - without looking at the person - and moved to sit. This time with tiny baby elf steps.

She gazed up at professor Romanos quizzically. A party? The only party Beverly has heard of and attended was the one Slytherin held. It had been awesome. Food, butterbeer and fights. They made their ancestors proud, as her brother would put it.

Recently, though? She hasn't heard of any other party. So, she sat quietly with her hands on her lap, biting on the inside of her cheek to keep from showing her amusement at Gryffindor Prefect.

Someone was getting old real fast.

WhittyBitty 01-25-2014 11:29 PM

Smiling at the Professor's greeting, she took note of the warning, and was careful as she took her seat by her friends (Tessa and Sander). Huh, she sure was right about it being slippery. A few people had even slipped. What had happened to these floors.

Expecting to start the lesson off with a question about dark creatures or something, she was surprised when they were asked if there had been a party the night before. Biting her lip, she remained silent. She herself had not been partying, and as such had nothing to contribute. Others though? She had no idea what her classmates had gotten up to.

oh its Erik ok 01-25-2014 11:30 PM

Was that rhetorical because it was pretty obvious with his more than one strand of grey hair. Though this class did seem a bit depressed. Nigel took a seat and thought about answering.

"Grey Hair is Evil"

That was just a fact. Unless you were the Potion's Master and could pull it off.

Wait what… people were doing what to their hair? "Errrrrrr noooo… Seriously grey hair?? why would anyone do that?" he asked while fixing his own hair automatically.

O_O
"Bless you," said Louis as Bay sneezed so loudly that he was sure even the elves cooking in the kitchen could've heard him. The Gryffindor laughed aloud - though he was quick to shut himself to avoid getting any negative attention from the professor - when Bay asked if he had any 'boogies' in his nose. Louis tilted his head slightly to get a better look into the other boy's nostrils (that's not weird at all). "Nope. All clear."

"That's what I thought," said Louis when Bay asked why anyone would want grey hair. "Maybe some new trend from overseas?" Who knows.

Oh.
Louis nearly forgot the lovely art of sitting down until the professor had to order the students to get off the floor. The boy moved to the front of the classroom and took a seat, most likely next to Bay or something.

Parties? Unusual assignments? Louis looked around. Was she talking about the students' grey hair or their rather tired-looking expressions?

"Whatever it is, I feel left out," muttered the Gryffindor, more to himself than to anyone in particular. It wasn't a complaint either, as he was rather happy with his very dark brown hair.

FireboltAvis88 01-25-2014 11:48 PM

Was it obvious that he was slowly aging? He had tried everything he could to dye his hair and moisturize the wrinkles away and trim he beard and nose and ear hairs. But he realized he was fighting a losing battle.

He raised his hand,"Professor I didn't have a party last night although it feels like I did. I've been feeling so tired lately, even something as simple as climbing the stairs takes longer to do so..... And this facial stuff happening to me." Sander paused trying to quell his frustration.

"I've been having to get up earlier and earlier each morning because I wake up and find I have long hairs sticking out of my nose and ears and what used to be a five o'clock shadow has become like Merlin's beard. I have to cut them all off because I don't want people to think I'm weird." Sander sighed.

"Then there's the grumpiness. I'm an easy going guy but I'm finding that I'm getting cranky over the stupidest things like that stupid slippery floor. Whoever put it there??" Sander grumbled before he realized he was actually voicing his displeasure.

"See what I mean? I wouldn't even had said that under normal circumstances." Sander sighed.

Mell 01-26-2014 12:01 AM

THERE WAS A PARTY AND NO ONE HAD TOLD HIM ABOUT IT?

Although he was not sure he wanted to attend any sort of party that was going to make him look like some of his fellow students. And if Alexa hadn't been one of the students that appeared to be ageing so fast he would have probably laughed.

Some of them did look kinda funny.

"Maybe it's lack of activity." He said helpfully. "Perhaps a good duelling session will shake off those aches and pains."

HINT HINT WOMAN!! THIS CLASS NEEDS SOME ACTION.

Cutty lifted his head upon hearing Romanos address the class. This exposed the straggly white hairs that had been growing on his chin...that he didn't seem to care to remove, because he was all like BEARD! :D They were careless and patchy about their growing too and they matched a few that had appeared toward the back of his head. It looked as if he'd been trying to transfigure his head into that of a goat. And maybe he had.

Were they being experimented on? Cutty had a look around the classroom and noted that he wasn't the only unfortunate one with a beard here. Although, it seemed that most had opted for the greying hairs. It was something that, up until the Gryffindor Prefect had pointed it out, he would've gladly done for free, but now that she'd gone and said that...
"Yeah! Extra credit or solid Gringotts credit, say in the form of galleons." Just in case word got around.

SarcasticStrawberry 01-26-2014 12:07 AM

OK, they could sit down. When he did he could feel his calf muscles tense up some? Ow eeee. West's quidditch training and some of his own couldn't be that bad on his body right, he was only seventeen. [s]and felt like a eighty-seven year old[s]

Grey hairs? Asher didn't know anything about that or a Party? A party that someone didn't invite him to. How rude Or an assignment? What assignment? If the grey hair was an assignment he didn't want it.

Then that Hufflepuff dude said something about a beard. Maybe he should ask the professor maybe she would know "Professor, is it normal for someone my age to have to shave facial hair every other day?" He

Lottiepot 01-26-2014 12:12 AM

Urgh. It was most definitely not a party that had put the majority of the students in this mood, at least not one he had heard about anyway. And he was sure his friends would have informed him if they knew about something he didn't. The Slytherin shook his head at the Professors question as his mind was diverted back to that annoying solitary grey hair on the top of his head which he had tried so desperately to pull out this morning.

"Its probably stress" he put forward into the conversation. "At least with the older students anyway, with exams looming at the end of the year." Who wouldn't be stressed? Terry was sure it was the backlog of all the revision from last year that had caused his weird but mild symptoms to come along. Those with the more severe symptoms, Alexa to name but a few, had the exams coming up this year. "And the grumpy mood is probably infectious," hence why some of the younger students were perhaps showing symtoms.

Maybe? Who knew. All he knew was that he wanted to get rid of his right now.

feeheeheeny 01-26-2014 12:15 AM

Sophie had debated not coming to this class today because Romanos liked to make them sit in weird positions and she wasn't sure if she felt flexible enough for it, buuuut... there she was, lurking somewhere behind Tobes. She had willingly gravitated toward the nearest wall and slid down to the floor when Romanos told them they could sit - she had to claim that spot against the wall to use it for support, y'know? Just to ease some tension from her body and help her relax a bit.

She was stressing. Stressing a lot. And... it seemed others were, too, as people were talking about grey hairs and wrinkles and facial hair and aging and muscle stiffness and it was stressing Sophie out even MORE. On... one hand, she was sliiiightly relieved - the majority of the class seemed to be feeling sick, too. Or... something. She sure hoped she didn't have what those who looked like they were almost aging had. Really - wasn't that a first year over there with visible gray hairs? And a sixth year with actual wrinkles? And not just the kind from normal facial expressions? Seriously, what was in the water at this school?

While the idea that others were going through a tougher time than she was right now was comforting, Sophie didn't give her input to the professor's question. Nope. Nothing wrong with Sophie Brown. She was one hundred percent feelin' good. Yeeeeeeeeeep. Sure. Puttin' on that happy face.

"Uh, I'm okay, thanks for asking Professor,'' Adi said as he grabbed Sander's hand and hauled himself up. "Thanks, dude,'' he added to Sander. He rubbed his back. Just that hurt. Sheesh, why was the place so slippery? And with that thought, he was grumpy again.

Oh, they could sit? Well, finally! Adi ran his hand through his hair (which was plagued with even more grey hairs now) as he found a seat. He hated standing these days and that was strange. "I've got grey hair, a fast growing beard, I'm slow and I'm grumpy,'' Adi said shortly. He tried his best to soften his tone. He always liked Romanos. But why did she keep the floor so slippery?!

Expecto-Penguin 01-26-2014 12:32 AM

Kace smiled when the professor hoped he had an memorable summer. He did have an interesting one that is for sure. When the professor mentioned he could sit down, he grinned and sat down with the others.

Now she asked an interesting question. What was up with the students and school. Kace thought about it and he did mention he was getting gray hairs when he looked in the mirror. He even noticed he was growing a beard. Kace raised his hand and said, "Professor i noticed that i was growing a beard and i feel like i am too young and i am getting little grey hairs." he said picking them out and hoping they won't grow back.

And there she went. Blah blah blah, ugh, Lex didn't care about the classroom or the people anymore. It was her hair. Alexa wasn't one to fixate about her hair, anyone who saw her could tell that but this was different. It was about the colour and the fact that it was changing when she wished it wouldn't. "Yeah, s'okay, not your fault." Lex said with a small shrug when she apologized. Merlin knew who's fault it was. "And I know who you are." Because she did. Lex didn't have a shoddy memory thanks.

"Oh, I remember you, Alexa Cambridge, aka Lexi the trouble maker, or atleast that's how I remember you. And you're a prefect now. Oh how times have changed. You're a prefect now, interesting.", Oichi replied with a smirk.

She then took a seat as the professor said and just sat there quietly since she had no idea why the arena was slippery.

Holmesian Feline 01-26-2014 12:38 AM

Ben was trying to settle into a comfortable position when class was begun. It seemed like every which way there was an ache here or an ache there and new ones popping up every once and a while . And sitting next to Adi once Romanos said they could was no better. Maybe they needed the mats back from last term. They would offer some sort of cushioning to the shiny and slippery floor.

Hearing the question from the professor the second year couldn't help but be relieved someone was finally deciding to draw attention to it. His blonde hair mixed with grey and the aches were his own main concern but now that the Hufflepuff beside him mentioned a beard, Benjamin was reminded how the hair around his own ears seemed to be further and further along his face. Was he growing a beard too? "I have no clue what it is...other than annoying and weird."

Presley Black 01-26-2014 01:38 AM

Was she really the only one sitting? No, there was that girl who was sitting close to her, looking like she wanted to use Gwen as a shield for something. Thank goodness the professor told them all to sit down. Being the only one would be a little awkward.

Oh, the first teacher to acknowledge all of the old people! Gwen had a theory about that. She'd read in the Prophet that some dude who stole time had escaped from prison. She didn't know anything at all about stealing time, but it sure looked like that's what was going on here. Or maybe it was all a practical joke, because mostly it seemed like Gryffindors. Well, Gryffindor was the house making the biggest deal out of it. So she was willing to bet they had all done it as a prank of sorts.

She shifted uncomfortably, feeling like the class was a bit in trouble. If they were in trouble she had three choices. First, she could pretend to be in on the joke and get in trouble with the class. Second, she could be the jerk-kid that everyone hated and announce that she had nothing to do with this weird old-people thing, or third she could sit quietly and not make any decisions until it had played out.

Choosing the last option she fiddled a little with her hair avoiding eye contact with anyone, especially the professor.

hermionesclone 01-26-2014 01:39 AM

It was good to see Romanos smiling. Really. Good. Keep it up, yeah? And the congratulations only made the boy smile more. He glanced down at the bright badge pinned to his chest before looking up again. "Thanks, Professor!"

They could sit down? Alec didn't bother hiding the look of immense relief that had spread across his face. The yoga part might be difficult but sitting down was something this tired badger was all up for. Without another word, the boy sat down as slowly as he could so as not to hurt his back even more. A sigh of relief was let out once he finally managed to sit down properly. This was great! Maybe they could do this for the rest of the lesson. Sit. No drastic movements and definitely not something that included running.

And then Romanos was speaking.

Party? ... Erm...? Yeah, he'll answer her question. Because she was asking them all, right? And even if other people were experiencing something similar to him -- which was weird but a little relieving -- he... thought he should give his input. "Professor?" he started, raising his hand in the air, "My back hurts and going up those stairs has become... well... more of a struggle than before. I couldn't make it very far without getting out of breath. And I can't walk very quickly in case it hurts my back." ... Anything else? "The hair on my chin grows back very quickly and... and I have to shave a lot more now." At this, he indicated to the fuzz that was growing around the chin area. He had shaved that before breakfast and yet...

... Pause. "Nigel's right, grey hairs are evil." He looked over at the Ravenclaw and gave him a solemn nod. Dude understood hair troubles. Plus, Alec liked his hair without any greys.

AlwaysSnapesGirl 01-26-2014 01:56 AM

It was only then, as she sat down, that Penelope really looked around and looked at her classmates. Huh. Some of them DID have quite a bit of gray hair, didn't they? That was weird. Was it some sort of new trend or something? She definitely wasn't gonna be following it if that's what it was - she liked her hair brown, thank you very much. Maybe it wasn't a fashion trend though because some of them were complaining about other things along with it. Hmm. Weird.

She just listened though since she apparently wasn't really having any of those problems. And there was no party last night or an assignment about it as far as she knew. So no need for her to answer Romanos' questions.

Felixir 01-26-2014 02:00 AM

Sit? Good idea.

Toby wasted no time in dropped to a cross-legged position, sitting on the floor exactly where he'd been standing. At the mention of a party, the Hufflepuff found himself feeling a weird sort of indignence that he'd never felt before. He HADN'T been partying. He was too ACHEY to even BOUNCE these days.

Searching for a good answer with which to explain his predicament, Tobias raised his hand to his head again to flatten his hair forward once more. But this time he left his hand there. Because HIS POOR HAIR.

But what he eventually said was:

"........ I can't even bounce anymore."

In such a small sad pitiful voice. It tacked on to the end of Alec's explanation rather nicely... so apparently a whole BUNCH of them were feeling like this.

Toby didn't mention the hair thing. Because he didn't want anyone looking too closely, even if other students were having similar issues.

Daydreamer11 01-26-2014 02:23 AM

Alex listened to the Professor question all of the weird ailments that appeared to be affecting her classmates. It was somewhat of a relief to know that she was not alone. It seemed like every day she was experiencing another new and unpleasant symptom.

How could Alex explain to the Professor and the class about the gray hair, the wrinkled skin, fatigue and assorted aches and pains? How could she explain something she didn't understand herself? She couldn't, so she kept her hand down and her mouth closed.

You all looked like death. Most...anyways.

"Before ve begin..." Taking her own seat upon the stands, she crossed a leg over the other and continued. "Does anyone vont to tell me vot's up? Vos there a party last night or something? Or is this some unusual assignment you've received?"

What was with all the ancient looking souls, HUH?

Yeah... Astrid did not know what was up too. Sorry, Professor. But honestly, they all looked like they've been up for hours and never got enough sleep. Yeah, she was confused too. What was happening? She needed someone to to tell, but even the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor couldn't even answer her question. Sad life. Will the Headmistress be able to answer their questions?

"Is it normal to have grey hair just suddenly appearing on your head, Professor?" Unless you were aging, but they were ALL aging. However, they were not THAT old. Not like Botros-old or something. Astrid didn't have grey hair, right? She would've known it earlier before she left because she always checked the mirror before leaving to make sure that she was in her best appearance.

...... So she immediately looked around at everyone and even checked her own hair. She needed a mirror. Did someone have a mirror? It was important!

SPOILER!!: Sophie, Oichi, Professor at beginning and then first question
Oichi entered the arena just as a young kid fell to the floor and hit his. She instantly went to go help the kid and slipped right on top of him. "I'm so sorry, I meant to help you and... Why are these floors so slippery? Anyway I'm Oichi, would you like a hand, I'll be a bit more careful this time.", Oichi said as she got up and held out her hand.

He was still on the floor looking up at the ceiling when someone was on top of him. Why was there someone on top of him with a grunt from the impact he looked. It was an older girl. Now to some this would be awesome but right now he just wanted her to move. Why was she on him? "I don't know why they are it's weird, right?" but the girl was off and talking to someone else. He was about to get up when someone else had their hand out. Another older girl. Was this beard attracting the older girls or what? See beards were awesome. He took her hand and got up, "Thank you" He winced a bit from his head when he heard the professor and turned.

He quickly found his seat still rubbing his head when she started talking about what was going on. He listened to others and raised his own hand. "My guess professor. Someone is pranking us and slipping an aging potion into our food. It is pure genius and I want to know who did it because they are awesome. " Honestly greatest prank ever he actually thought about it, but not to this level. No this person was a freaking master of pranks and he needed to learn from them at some point in time.

Well that certainly would explain things. But was Lex a part of all this or just a victim, hmmm... All I do know is that none of this is cool.

Honest to Merlin...ninety percent of the symptoms sounded like just plain being a teenager. Unlucky for those just making the transition. Moodiness. Grumpiness. Exaggeration Achy muscles. Lissy Longbottom 01-26-2014 04:31 AM

Caleb blinked when the professor pointed out that everyone looked terrible - he looked around and sure enough, everyone was looking pretty horrible. It hadn't even occurred to him that his peppered beard that was coming in was the side effect of the same thing that had been going around the school. Was it even really a DISEASE or was puberty suddenly evolving into a new, weird, hyper-aging stage of life? Hmm?

He rubbed his cheeks again. He needed to look at his hair later and start plucking grays if they were appearing, although it seemed to be contained to his facial hair...for now.

Very uncharacteristically, he sat and crossed his arms, leaning back and kind of folding into himself. Was something really wrong with him? He was anxious, and wanted to be anywhere BUT class right now...

Still, he took a piece of paper out of his bag and placed it on the desk in front of him. Folded arms. More slouching.

She then took a seat as the professor said and just sat there quietly since she had no idea why the arena was slippery.

The girl was going good until she hit the 'Lexi' card. That name always had her skin crawling, if only a little. There was no 'I' in her name, making 'Lexi' a ridiculous variation--to her anyway. There were times when she overlooked it, usually when she was getting chocolate, but jeez, she could do without it. "Lex will do fine." She confirmed with a quick nod. Seriously. Much shorter than Lexi even. "And yuuuup, Prefect. Who'd of thought." Not her, but she wasn't complaining. It'd been a pleasant surprize when she found out.

And now they were back to getting that look again, the one that told her the Professor wasn't convinced at all. Someone had to take her serious before she ended up like Professor Airey and Jun. Neither were in particularly BAD shape but they had symptoms she didn't and she didn't want them either.

Wait..."Whaaaaaaaaat?" No! Oh come ON! First the explosions in Astronomy get cancelled because of the Professor and his back pains and now this? "No. What? Professor? I'm up for challenges! I am! I'm perfectly healthy, it'll help relieve stress, my joints will loosen." She begged, even as she got out her parchment and quill. This couldn't turn into a theory class. She wouldn't be able to handle the disappointment.

WhittyBitty 01-26-2014 04:57 AM

Curiously, Lux listened to everyone discuss things around her. She had no idea what was going on, but the grey hair thing was freaky. What if she woke up one day with grey hair?! Fortunately, she was 12 so that was not likely to happen for a long time.

Oh boo.

She really liked the sound of the competition, but supposed that it might be the best to go without it if some of her classmates weren't feeling well. Taking a seat at the desk that was right by where she was seated, she took out her textbook and supplies so that she could take notes.

Mell 01-26-2014 04:59 AM

Theory?

They were going to do theory? Again.

Michael gritted his teeth as he pulled some parchment out of his bag but he simply could not keep his mouth shut. Not for a second longer.

"YOU ALL JUST HAD TO GO AND COMPLAIN, DIDN'T YOU? A FEW ACHES AND PAINS AND YOU'RE WHINING LIKE BABIES." And now they were stuck doing theory.

After that outburst,Michael put up his hand. "Excuse me Professor, how are we going to write on our parchment when there are no desks?" Yeah sure he could have done it from the floor but why should he? "Never mind." He said as a desk came to a stop beside him and he placed his parchment onto it.

He was NOT happy!

West stared at her. Was that a joke?

He put his hand up and tried to keep his voice level.

"There's nothing wrong with me and I know my theory right up, through, and past NEWT level. I want to learn something practical. Something useful."

Uh huh and he clearly wasn't the only one bothered either.

Sander was expecting the Professor to come up with an explanation as to what was ailing them, but unfortunately she didn't. She instead told them to take a breath and relax. And that is what he did. Taking a couple of deep breaths, he began to clear his mind.

Then she mentioned something about an inner house competition where everyone could win house points and his ears perked up. It wasn't the house points that caught his interest but rather the competition part. Sander was always interested in participating in competitions.

He raised his hand,"Like some of the others have said, I'm not that tired that I can't take part in some friendly competition if everyone wants to. If not, some theory will also work just as well." Sander quickly added, not wanting to sound like he was disobeying what the Professor had told them to do.

So while he waited for others to speak up, he took out a parchment and his quill and ink bottle and placed it on his desk which magically moved right next to him.

REALLYNECESSARYTOSHOUT.

Tobias was cranky as HECK and the second he heard a LOUD voice ring out he whipped his head around to find the owner, feeling and hearing his neck do a weird painful cracking thing at the same time.

Gryffindors. What a surprise.

Toby just sat there, breathing heavily, trying to inhale DEEEEEEEEEEP CALLLLLLMING BREAATHHHHS. Because some people here still obviously didn't know how much pain he was in, how tired he was, and how he was absolutely NOT USED TO IT.

But for what it was worth, Toby held back. Didn't glare, didn't shout, so much as frown.

He was, of course, able to get past any sort of anger, being master of his own emotions, able to calm the most raging emotional tempests. So Toby turned his back on the LOUD LOUD LOUD GRYFFINDOR to face Romanos again, taking some parchment out of his bag. He wasn't complaining.

Rosa Chispa Princessa 01-26-2014 05:33 AM

Man, all of this was just strange. And now they were doing bookwork, great. But wha, why was the professor so okay with rapidly aging students. Then Oichi felt herself becoming weaker and saw a brown hair turn gray. Ugh, what was causing this insanity. "Professor, with all due respect I care about this lesson but this epidemic of rapidly aging students is a bit more important to solve I think.", Oichi said trying to stay calm.

Presley Black 01-26-2014 05:48 AM

What? Desks?! Whatever happened to martial arts? Were they just doing this because of the wimpy kids? Gwen let out a groan of protest. It's not as if she had a problem. She was fully ready to do something real and fun! Parchment it was though. She reached behind her for her bag and pulled out a roll of the weird papery stuff that she'd gotten used to writing on. This was going to be the most boring defense lesson she'd ever had. Granted, it was only her first, but still, most boring.

Deezerz 01-26-2014 06:20 AM

Maybe it was because of what Train Boy told her, but professor Romanos did look like the type to do yoga. Especially with the 'deep breath' thing she was doing.

Wait. What? No inner house competition because of whining teenagers?

Beverly wished she had it in her to glare at every one of those whiners. As it was, she scowled down at her parchment instead, up until she heard Train Boy. Someone was a grumpy-grump today.

Not so happy and smiles, eh?

... So it was normal? Astrid started panicking inside. Now she didn't WANT to be normal. She didn't wanna get grey hair or hair loss or look like zombies just like the other students. NOPE. That was not going to happen to her. NEVER. NEVAAAAH. She was taking care of her hair and yeah, she wasn't doing anything wrong! Besides, the grumpiness in this room was not going to affect her. Or, at least, she'll try not to get affect. She could do that. If grumpiness meant losing her hair or having grey hair, then she was not going to be grumpy ever again. No no no.

But then Astrid frowned at the Professor when she said they would be having theory stuff rather than the activity she initially planned for them. Excuse you. You can't do that to her. Nope. "I'm okay too, Professor. I'm not tired and stuff. I'm up for the activity..." Hopefully that would make the Professor change her mind. Please? She would rather do some spellwork than write on her parchment for hours on how things are. She wasn't good with theory, y'know?

Maybe do something she was actually good at. Like Quidditch. Or riding brooms. Or designing outfits. Or shopping. Yes, those are few of the many things Astrid Emerson was good at.

INNER!PANIC. Delilah nervously played with the ends of her hair. She knew she didn't have any grey hair.. yet. But, what if she started to get them? What if this was some kind of a disease? A disease of grey hair!? Yes, she knew she wasn't making any sense whatsoever but this was something to worry about.

And it looked like they weren't going to have a practical session today. Meh. She tried taking deep breaths but nope. Not working, professor. She sighed and took out a parchment out of her bag and placed it on the miniature table.

"Uh, professor? I'm totally up for an activity." Delilah raised her hand. Just saying. That would be better than studying just theory, yeah?

This girl was SO not in a good mood anymore.

SilverTiger 01-26-2014 08:32 AM

Astrid too. xD

Back to the talk of grey hair and all the other weirdness that Lily just didn’t understand. She might not have been able to see most of her hair since she had it pulled back with the headband, but she was positive that it was just her normal dark brown waves. At least Professor Romanos had seemed like she didn’t understand it either, plus she’d noticed that appreciative look toward her boots. She rather liked not feeling like she was going to have her feet come out from underneath her, yet she’d also let her legs fold underneath herself to sit down next to her bag as they had all been instructed to do so. She wasn’t going to complain, not when she had nothing to complain about except for maybe the fact all the weird complaints seemed to have made the lesson plan change. Theory was for classes like History of Magic, not DADA. She wanted activity, to learn defensive spells. Honestly, she was curious about what the activity that was mentioned that they apparently weren’t going to be doing now was.

It looked like Astrid was a bit worried, though. She didn’t see anything in her friend’s dark hair either, but wasn’t planning on risking trouble by telling her that. She’d discreetly slipped a small mirror out and tried to pass it over to her, anyway. It wasn’t interrupting the lesson, and she’d slipped parchment and a quill out at the same time. Therefore, she was still paying attention. Nothing to see here. Definitely no random complaints that had no reason for existing. The only complaint she had was that she was now apparently going to have to take notes instead of getting to do something fun like whatever the activity was. “I’m up for the activity too, Professor Romanos,” she said, raising her hand tentatively. She had the footwear for it, so why should she just have to sit here and not take advantage of that.

THIS WAS SO ANNOYING.

Lucas squinted in annoyance. WHY. Whoever that kid was that had complained was the worst. SIGH. But he didn't say anything else, just calmly eyed the Professor.

The only direction from here was UP, RIGHT?! It's not like the grey hair thing theory was legitimate?! Hmphhh.

Mhm.

What was the professor on about? A party? If there'd been one, she hadn't attended. And if there had been one, it was very likely that her boyfriend would have been the one planning it, so Alice was fairly sure she'd know. Most likely, Romanos was just getting old and paranoid and batty.

Idly tuning out her instructor, she glanced around the classroom in boredom until her gaze landed on the person to her right.

Oh. Lovely.

The seventh year swallowed and kept her eyes downcast, doing nothing until the desks appeared. When they did, she took a seat quietly and pulled out some parchment like the professor had asked them to do. Normally, Alice would have opted for arguing like the rest of the class, but she just remained silent and inhaled again upon Romanos' request. Deep breath. Okay. Whew.

Okay, what was going on? Cassia was, too, curious to know. She looked around at her classmates questioningly. Was there a party that she hadn't known of? HMM? That'd be something! But apparently there wasn't. Good to know. She wasn't NOT told.

"I'm okay, too," In case anyone was worrying about her and wanted to know. Cassia Somerland was feeling pretty well.

The sixth year reached for her bag and retrieved a parchment and a quill. She didn't really mind whether there was gonna be an activity or a theoretical lesson.

Destiny 01-26-2014 12:59 PM

Really?

REALLY!?

Did that boy, that older Hufflepuff boy just say that he had to trim his nose hairs so people wouldn't think he was weird? Didn't he know that almost everyone thought he was weird now because he just told that to everyone in the castle!?

Rhodes was staring, staring so hard at the back of that boy's head that she almost missed the fact that the Professor was telling them to do something. Take a deep breath? Yeah. No thank you. There was something going on in Hogwarts, and the last thing she wanted to do was breathe that something in.

She pulled the collar of her shirt out and ducked her mouth and nose down behind it before scooting even closer to that little Ravenclaw girl. She seemed normal. No grey hairs. No nose hairs that could be seen. She would keep her safe. "Professor!" She spoke loudly because Michael Toussaint was allowed to YELL, and because it was probably hard to hear her with her mouth covered the way it was. "Why can't the unhealthy people do the theory lesson and us healthy people do the activity?" Fair, right?

Just in case the answer was no, though, she pulled out some parchment and a quill and sat them on her desk. Pretending not to care and all.

Lottiepot 01-26-2014 02:51 PM

Despite not being in the best of moods, Terry was definitely up for doing a practical activity. He wasn't tired, nor was his body aching that much that it would cause him any discomfort. Plus it wasn't like Dark Wizards would purposefully not attack just because you were feeling ill or croggy that day. "Professor, surely it would be beneficial to teach us how to defend ourselves whilst we are not 100%? Help to learn the skill of endurance or something." Yes? Wasn't that true?

He wrinkled his nose as a desk appeared in front of him. This was not what he was expecting from a DADA lesson. Theory, although extremely helpful in acquiring skills, was not the most exciting thing in the world. "Why don't you give us the option of participating or not?" Then those who were really bad could just sit out. That was fair.

And anyway, by the sound of things most people wanted to participate no matter what state they were in.

MudInMyBlood 01-26-2014 02:59 PM

Hannah ignored the first question about what was wrong with them because Hannah was NOT going to admit that she truly had an issue. Although, it was a bit concerning that a lot of people seemed to have her same symptoms. Was it something they ate? She eyed the puffers because they looked like they would be a carrier of some nasty disease or something. Yup, whatever this was it was their fault.

Did she hear right? Hannah loved competition and loved any chance that she got to take the other houses down. "Professor, perhaps those too fragile could sit on the sidelines while the rest of us battle." She didn't know if her bones would be able to take it, but she would give it her best shot. Plus, she didn't think that she could sit through another boring class without falling asleep. Too much talking, and not enough action was not mixing well with the very sleepy seventh year.

oh its Erik ok 01-26-2014 03:44 PM

Did that mean he was not getting a beard from puberty? That was seriously depressing. Beards were pretty awesome and Nigel did not mind the shaving. The Prefect also did not mind doing theory instead of a practical. Or just going with doing the practical anyway. Sure his joints ached but it was not like he would break anything by doing exercise. At least he hoped so.

The Ravenclaw did think there was a wee bit of over sharing in this class and even if those thing were effecting him he would not say them out loud to of Professor. Still if theory meant do nothing or being allowed to watch that was more awesome.

Nigel was in a lazy mood.

Saiai 01-26-2014 04:04 PM

So they weren't going to do anything practical? Ana wasn't sure what option she preferred, but as she was somewhat alert today, even if she was hurting, she was in agreement with other students who actually wanted to participate in the original lesson plan.

"I agree with Terry," Ana said, nodding along to what the boy was saying. She agreed with everyone that was saying that it might be good to give people an option about whether they felt up to participating or not. "If we're in the middle of a proper duel then our opponent isn't going to stop attacking us just because we're injured. Aren't they more likely to press their advantage in that kind of circumstance?" Or at least, that's what Ana would do. It might not be fair but if you got on the bad side of the wrong people you weren't likely to find yourself in a fair situation.

"It would be much better for us to learn how to push through any aches or pains we may be feeling now when we're not in any real danger than have them become a hindrance in a life or death situation," not that Ana ever wanted to find herself in one of those.

Poolicious 01-26-2014 04:15 PM

Better than most of your classmates. Yeah he could tell.

Party? Unusual assignments? Nope. As far as he know there's no party going on nor unusual assignments. Surely they would tell the students first if this grey hair and wrinkle thingy was an assignments, right?

Deep breath? Oh he could do that.

Breath in. Breath out.

Huh? Wait. WHAT????! Theory? No. "I'm up for some activity, Professor." Sure his body was moving slower than usual and his back hurt but he still up for some practical lesson. He pulled out some parchment from his bag just in case the Professor decided to continue doing theory.

Princesspower 01-26-2014 04:42 PM

professor

What was the grey hair business? Her mother did not even have grey hairs and now all these students have them... Did they drink something? It was Hogwarts afterall, so Sarah did suspect foul play. Even Alexa had them. As much as Sarah hated her chestnut brown hair colour, she did prefer boring brown over grey. Perhaps if it was just the hair it would not be so bad, but the it seemed like the joints seemed to be aging too.

Sarah took a deep breath in. There was a lot to think about. Sarah did not live only in the present, she was always thinking ahead to. The desks came forward and Sarah placed her partchment and writing implements on the desk. She was in now mood for theory... she wanted to be active and that, Hogwarts was going to become an old age home rather than a school. She raised her hand.

"professor" she said, "I think it is strange that we have such a large amount of teenagers going grey at the same time, it is not usual, like premature aging. I suspect foul play, after all we do have a time-thief on the lose and all. Perhaps we can make a list of all the students suffering the symptons of premature aging so we can figure out a common denominator and get to the bottom of all this."

hermionesclone 01-26-2014 04:56 PM

... Breathe? Okay.

Alec closed his eyes and started taking deep breaths. Deep, calming breaths. It was probably nothing, right? Just a few bumps and bruises. As much as he liked the sound of that, the boy couldn't help but think back to the incident in the boy's bathroom with the grey hair. Hair, you know. He was very particular about it so... seeing a grey strand meant that the boy was not happy, to say the least.

Still not happy. Scared. Worried. Freaked out.

... Nobody needed to know this. Breathing was happening. Yeah. Breaaaa--

Alec's eyes flew open and he glanced over at the Professor. Really? They had been about to do something fun? ... Now he felt bad. Not that he didn't mind having a theory lesson because of his back but... hearing other people's remarks didn't settle well with him. So, instead, he took out a piece of parchment and his writing equipment and set them down on the miniature desk next to him.

Quiet Head Boy was quiet.

Couldn't very well get THAT much grey hair, or hair in general for that matter yes eyeing you young students with beards, from exam stress.

At least they were all in one area where she could keep an eye on them?

"Alright, alright. Everyone just....take a deep breath, okay? Go on. Relaaaaaaax." Like she was doing. Deep breath. Deeeeeeeep breath. SNIFF THE FRESH MORNING AIR THROUGH THE NOSE, and slowly exhale through the mouth. "Focus back into the present moment of class. Don't vorry about anything else. I did have a fun inner house competition activity lined up for you guys to vin house points but, I guess you guys von't be up for moving about. Soooo, ve'll add a little bit more theory to our lesson. Everyone take out some parchment, please."

And while they were doing that, she summoned the miniature desks to sit right by each student for them to write on.

No.

No no no!

NOoooooooooooooo...

Tessa did not want to sit here and take notes. She wanted to get up, move around- slide around it those slippery areas still persisted despite the Professor's attention. She didn't care how achy or tired or grumpy she was. She wanted to do something hands on.

"Please reconsider Professor," she called. "Perhaps it can be optional?" Because she would take the moving around and spell work option over theory any day.

Grrr..Meow 01-26-2014 05:27 PM

Deee

Bay started to get very tired.. maybe sitting and taking notes were a good thing… he moved to go get parchment and quill.. coming back he clapped Louis on the back… sooo very tired yes.. "man I could go for a nap" he told him while sitting down slowly on the floor… maybe if i just close my eyes..

Bay kind of curled up on the floor and closed his eyes… taking notes were not even in his mind… quite snores came from his mouth.
