Immediately making her way into the maze, the sixth year wondered how much time would it take her to get out of this place. She sped up to a jog and then a run a few minutes later, counting the seconds in her head as she rounded the turns and trying to guess how quickly she could find the exit.

Left, left, left, right, left.. person.

Too late to stop. Alice immediately collided with another girl, landing painfully on her arm. Ompf. Oww.

"You should watch where you're going." Because it wasn't her fault, clearly.

WHAM.

A girl had come out of nowhere and hit Marigold. She looked down at the culprit, an older girl, and reached her hand out to help her up.

"I'm really sorry! I can be a bit spaced out sometimes," Marigold said, even though it was the girl who had ran into her. "I'm Marigold!"

Schuyler had been on her way in, of course. And she still had her path committed to memory, so there was no way she was lost. Not now, at least. And she didn't believe she would get lost, either. She glanced over in the direction she came from, then shifted her eyes down the path where she would be going next.

"I'm not entirely sure..." Charlie managed, looking in either direction, before back at the girl. "You know, I'm not even sure how I ended up in here." You know, stupid 'thoughts' keeping her occupied and distracting her. She didn't need that: she had no sense of direction anyways, she didn't need a maze thrown into that.

She bit down on her lip before speaking again. "In all honesty, I was lost before I even got into here." And so she was increasingly lost now. Was this girl keeping up? Because she wasn't, and they were her thoughts. Eep.

Sounded like she had to try and get out of the maze like everyone else. Not a chance to get around this maze thing. Eeeh.

"Yes, it's surprising how fast we can get used to slacking and hard to switch back to school mode," Though right now she wished she could be in Kace's shoes.......not literally, they'd probably not fit. She wanted to be a second year and not care about any exams by the end of the year. "I'm doing well," She answered him without needing to think. It was liberating talking to someone younger than her and who didn't relate to stuff she had been trying to keep off her mind. That's why this maze was a perfect idea. "Just trying to get a head start in classes so I won't find it hard at the end of the year," OWLs exams. *GULP*

She paused pondering which way to go then nodded. "Yup.Right it is," And right she went.

"Oh i know right? Like all this summer i was in sports mode. I was eating, breathing and living sports." he told her with a vigorous nod. "I literally had no free time besides running on a field." he shrugged but he didn't mind it. "But i didn't mind it because i was away from my mom and her nagging." he joked with Cassia.

He smiled when Cassia said she was doing well. "You going into your fifth year right?" he asked to double check. "Oh i am trying to do that too. I mean i don't wanna have a stressful workload at the end of the year." he agreed with Cassia. She was older so she had more experience on handling her study time with play time better than he did.

They were going right! Awesome! He lead the way and even skipped a little bit. The he tripped over a root sticking out of the ground. "OOOFFFF" he said and then landed flat on his face. He managed to get dirt on his shirt.

Continuing on her walk, she came to a wall she wasn't all that sure had always been there. Getting closer she finally realized that it WAS something she'd seen, actually, it was just the maze! She remembered walking through it with Professor Airey that one time. It'd been fun and there was food at the end. There wouldn't be any food now, she knew that much but she entered nonetheless. What else was there to do when one didn't want to go back to their Common Room as yet?

By now she was almost sure that Felix was falling asleep. Every now and then she would feel him slipping through her jacket then giving a sudden jolt. It was actually kinda precious.

Alexa folded her arms beneath him for support. He could sleep if he wanted to...just so long as he didn't suddenly die or something 'cause she was kinda still using his warmth here.

Horrid thought, yes, but one she couldn't help thinking about.

Hold on. Hold ooooon. A maze at night...with a shoddy sense of direction. "Oi. Oi Felix, wake up...I think we're lost." He could...um...sleep after? That could work. Lex felt him wiggle awake and glanced down to see him looking around. In another moment he was on the floor, beckoning her forward. Leave it to him to come in handy. She smiled at him before taking a glance up. They'd been finding neat things all night afterall and by the looks of it, maybe she'd found something else.

To be sure, she fished the telescope from her pocket, careful to follow close behind the leading kneazle even while she distracted herself. "Feeeelix, loooook." The kneazle didn't glance up but that didn't bother her. It was best he stayed focus while she stargazed. At the moment, she was sure she was looking at Antares.

Schuyler glanced at the girl as she surveyed her surroundings and admitted that she herself wasn't even sure whether she was going in or out of the maze. This elicited a light laugh from the Gryffindor. Well, this could be evidence of several things. The blonde could possibly have THE worst sense of direction in the world. Or she could be so caught up in the thoughts occupying her mind that she had totally overlooked where exactly she was going. Or, perhaps both.

She tilted her head a little, then lifted her hand to tap on her temple. "Lost in here?" Schuyler returned her hand to the ground and observed the girl. Either way, she offered a smile. "Well. You're lucky you ran into me, then." Her short path into the maze was memorized. When you grew up in such a huge city, you learned to take note of where you came from and where you were going. "I'm Schuyler."

She was about to take another turn when Kace tripped and fell to the ground. Quickly, she crouched next to him, "Are you alright?" she asked both finding it funny and hoping he didn't get seriously hurt. Did they have to take him to the healer?

She had already been to the maze but now she wasn't here for the sake of the maze. She was here because she was out stargazing or just searching the sky with her clean telescope. And it so happened that she needed to get into the maze to get a better look on the sky from THERE! Did that make sense? It did to her.

Hoping that the last time she'd been here actually made her memorize some routes. But can anyone really do that? It was a maze and they were supposed to get lost. It was a must. But right now, she didn't concern herself with that. She had her telescope up by her eyes and was slowly moving.

No missing anything.

Though walking and not looking where exactly she was stepping wasn't a smart thing nor safe. She hoped not to trip afraid that the telescope might be damaged. Valuable equipment. Must be kept safe. ALWAYS!

She almost lost hope and was about to tuck the telescope into her bag and figure out a way to get out when she spotted it! YES! There was Antares.. She let out a faint EEEEEP then lowered the telescope. Mission accomplished. Now, to get out of this maze.. Eeeh. That was gonna take a while.

It was scary to be in the maze at night, Sarah had her wand with her yet still, her childhood fear of the dark occasionally did lurk. "I am NOT afraid. There is nothing to fear. I am Not afraid" she kept saying to herself. It was dare from her brother to do the maze at night, to show her Gryffindor side. Dares could be horrible, like this one.

Sarah paused in the middle, to look up at the sky to see what direction she was going in. North Star... heey there was Scorpius.. maybe Antares would be there too... Sarah looked and behold there it was. One of Persia's Royal stars. GO her! See not only did she do dares, she also find stars.

Then an idea popped into her head and suddenly she knew the way out. She followed her instinct until she was out of the maze again.

Ok Pluto, where the heck were you?

Caleb was kind of worried about trying to find this one - after all, Pluto was so TINY and it wasn't even considered a planet anymore because of that size - how could he ever pick it out amongst the stars? Consulting his star chart again, he sat down cross legged near the corn maze and began to stare into the night sky in the general direction that Pluto was supposed to be. Ok, where was it....

He scanned the night sky. Then he did it again. And again. UGH WHERE WAS THIS DWARF PLANET?

Caleb was about to give up and come back another time, when he realized that he was staring RIGHT at the little hunk of space rock. AHA! It had been under his nose the whole time!

See, this was why Pluto had been demoted. It was stupid and tiny and deceiving.

He quickly took a few notes on his parchment before packing up his telescope and heading back inside.

After finding Perseus, Felix had been kind enough to let her get a little nap before they moved on. He didn't mind much, considering he got to curl up in her lap the whole time, but the nap couldn't last long. She had a Common Room and a bed to get back to, both of which were much warmer than outside right now. Pushing forward, she and her kneazle found themselves at the maize maze yet again.

Last time she was here Felix had to lead her out because she'd gotten them lost. Not wanting to chance that again, she simply pulled the telescope from the small bag she'd carried with her and made a stop just outside the maze.

Felix meowed at her. "Yeah yeah, don't worry, I wasn't gonna go inside anyway." Pffft, acting like he didn't like playing hero. She could see right through him. He lived for proving her wrong and helping her out whenever he could.

While she scanned the sky she felt something warm at her foot. What the kneazle? Literally. Lex shook her head at her baby getting comfy by her leg and simply got back to looking at the sky. Not there...not theeere....it wasn't over there eeeeither. Where WAS that planet?? Not planet. Yeah. You got the idea. Whatever it was, she was having a hard time finding it. Or so she thought. Lex focused the telescope a bit more and gave another look. Sure enough, there it was, glistening in the night sky.

Good stuff. Moving on.

Spaced out? She raised an eyebrow and then eyed the crest on the student's robes. Hufflepuff. And how old was this girl, eleven? Twelve? Observations were being made. "Marigold." Feeling no need to introduce herself, she dusted off her robes after regaining her footing. And then she watched.

Well. Was this Marigold going to move?

Although Schuyler's brain had been pretty clear of confusion as she ran into this maze without a care. The confusing things somehow seemed to disperse in her mind at certain times. But, anyway.

No, the maze had not really sent her into any spell of befuddlement. "I have a pretty good sense of direction," she smiled. Dovetailing this, the girl was also not even that far into the maze. She supposed that the blonde didn't realize how close she was to the start. Charlie? "Short for Charlotte?" Schuyler guessed. And then, up she was, on her feet again. No sense in staying on the cold ground.

Schuyler. Yeah, she could remember that. "Is there any secret to that?" Like a potion? A spell? Some gift Schuyler could give to her?

Pretty please?

"Charlotta." With stress on the 'a'. "But please call me Charlie. Only my mother calls me Charlotta." And that was how she wanted it to stay. Her full name was... gah. It was gah. What had been running through his mind when he thought that stargazing in the middle of the maize maze was a good idea?

This time, though, the boy had made sure to bring a flask of hot chocolate along with him. It didn't have whipped cream or marshmallows in there, two additions he really liked to his hot chocolate, but it will do. And this was just so that he could keep himself warm while he was walking or just resting. It did seem to be doing its trick, which he was happy about. Mmmm... hot chocolate...

...

Didn't he have some stargazing to do? Right. Yeah.

Making sure that his flask was firmly shut, he placed it into his bag before taking out his telescope. Right. He took a deep breath before taking a couple of steps forward and into the maze. There. Now he was... all alone. Properly. Man, this was scary! He headed off into the depths of the maze, occasionally stopping to gaze up at the clear sky through his telescope. It would be here somewhere, right? Because if he had headed off into the maze for no reason in particular, the boy wasn't exactly going to be impressed with his intuition or his decision making skills.

Pause. Look up. Look down and continue walking and try not to get lost. Pause. Look up. Look down and continue walking.

This happened for quite a while until... Okay, he needed his chart. Alec stood there and took out the chart, a nervous grin spreading across his face. After a couple of moments which were spent comparing a start on the chart to the star up in the sky, the nervous grin turned into a proper one. Antares! AWESOME.

... Could he get out of here now?

Marigold STARED at this silent older lion girl person. She gave another grin and started skipping away from her. Pshah, she was happy, and she wasn't lost, and -

Wait, was she lost? She turned back to the girl and raised an eyebrow. Silent and stationary person was making Marigold uncomfortable.

Wandering the maze when it was this close to curfew was probably unwise but Ella was taking advantage of the clear skies and the adventurous urge to get lost. Only lost in the maze, though, because she knew she'd eventually find her way out. She'd never want to be lost in a jungle or something. Gosh no. Then she'd end up eaten and that'd just be bad. Yeah. Anyway, the blonde was here and wandering and hoping to make it out and back to the castle before she had any cause for concern.

She was whistling while she walked, enjoying the solitude for the time being. Sometimes it was just nice to get out and walk by yourself, y'know? Plus she was stopping every so often to enjoy the stars. It was much nicer here than at home where the stars were sometimes harder to see. Ella loved that there were so many here and they seemed so bright. It was just really pretty to look at.

Speaking of stars, wasn't that Antares? Ella tilted her head and stared... and stared...and stared. Heh. She'd totally found that star. Cool.

Airey would be proud, yeah?

amadshade 10-12-2013 05:14 PM

Last astronomy assignment the Maze had actually proven quite a good spot for stargazing. Sort of. Actually, with all the corn stalks in the way it was quite difficult to get a clear look unless she looked directly up. However, Tora needed a really dark place to come and see Pluto and this was what she came up with. She set everything up and pulled out her Astreglobe to help her. Sapping it with her wand, she set it so it only showed the planets in the sky at the moment. Hmmm... Pluto. There. She turned until the red arrow was facing the dot that was Pluto on the 3D star globe and looked up into the inky blackness. Of course she wouldn't be able to see Pluto with her naked eye, it was too dull, but she knew that she was looking in the right direction at least.

She tapped her Astreglobe with her wand once more and showed the stars, while still highlighting Pluto. Now she could try and find the planet in the blank spaces between those brilliant lights called stars. Her telescope roamed the skies for several minutes before it settled on a slightly blurry pinprick that was Pluto. She smiled slightly, although not the most interesting to look at, she had still found it.

Walking back towards the castle later, Tora thought about what it would be like to travel to such a far far away place. Her thoughts came with a bittersweet mixture of excitement and disappointment in knowing that although people would eventually make to that far away place, she wouldn't be alive for it to happen. Maybe. There was still hope.

hermionesclone 10-12-2013 09:40 PM

There was more stargazing to be done today. Yeah. And where had he come along to today?

... The Maize Maze. Great.

He was going to get lost, wasn't he? He had been anticipating this ever since he had headed out of the castle and over towards the maze. It didn't stop him from entering the maze, though, since... he had celestial bodies to find. The great thing about the maze was that he was less likely to get distracted. He just had to focus on finding the stars and possibly trying not to get lost in the process.

Making sure that his telescope was ready, Alec walked around the maze, occasionally stopping every now and then to look up at the sky through his telescope. He had to be able to find something, yeah? Whether it was a star or a constellation or a planet. He just... had to find something. There was no way that he was going to head back to the castle without finding anything. Plus, look at the sky! Look how clear it was! Something was here, right?

And speaking of something... wasn't that Pluto? Poor Pluto. But it WAS! A slow grin spread across the seventeen year old's face as he took note of the planet. ... Or... what had formerly been a planet. Wasn't it just a large moon now? ... Either way, it had been found. Awesome!

She kept walking from where the whomping willow was with light steps, her bag bumping against her side lightly. She wouldn't have made much of it but she had valuable equipment in there and she didn't want to cause damage. So she helped the urge not to skip although it would have helped with the cold weather. She eventually tried to stick to the sunlit paths and avoid shadows where the temperature dropped faintly there.

Squinting up she let her gaze trail until she spotted a shape from afar. Her only chance of getting a clear look was to get into the maze. She hesitated before stepping inside the walls of corn hoping not to get lost. It wasn't the first time she'd been inside it but still it was a maze and there was no way around getting lost even for a bit.

Retrieving the telescope from her bag, she tightened her fingers around it and regularly glanced down careful not to trip, because there was a huge chance of bent corn sticks or anything on the ground that might be sticking out and blocking the way. She didn't feel like falling while being here alone, thank you.
The fifth-year slowly made her way between the corn fields keeping track of where she was going and where she came from all while she squinted up through the telescope. It wasn't easy focusing on two tasks by she was managing so far.

The snake was getting quite impatient and was about to slid the telescope into the bag and focus on getting out of the maize but she had one last shred of hope that kept her looking for a minute longer and that was when she spotted it. Pluto! Up there waiting to be found. She let out a sound of

Herbology Homework 1, Post 1

There was some logic behind the idea that one doing Herbology homework really ought to do it in the gardens or the greenhouse. But really, one didn't do all the Defense homework in the dueling arena or the History of Magic homework... in the past. And with that impecable logic, Mo felt free to do his spell practice wherever he wanted.

And he wanted to do it in the middle of the corn maze. Who understood why? Maybe on account of it was sort of bristly and yellow and made him think of the desert, and this was a hot-air charm?

Or maybe because he wanted to get lost for a while.

Mo wandered into the maze, not worrying too much about how his partner person was going to find him once he was well and truly lost. Once in the approximate center of the maze, Mo flopped backwards, spreading out across the whole path, and pointed his wand at the sky. Maybe he'd make sparks. Or maybe... he'd practice the wand motion. He drew clockwise circles in the air. Around and around and around and around.

Why was she outside the castle, really? She didn't mind the cold no she was a winter baby and she knew winters well at home, but why was she out in the cold right now. Deciding she was just needing out in the open air even though she was out in the elements yesterday for the match, Min kept walking around ending up at the Maize. Funny she had not been here when it was nice, so why when it was cold.

Oh well figuring she was alone like she had been a lot lately, why not get lost in a maize in the cold for awhile. Debating on doing a heating charm while outside she made her way through the maze. Feeling a tad on the jumpy side once in the center of the maze she was beginning to think she shouldn't have been in there at all when she noticed someone on the ground. Were they hurt? Min moved closer when she saw a wand go up.

Who was that? She quietly went closer until she was above his head looking down at him smiling. "Hey Mo, whatcha doing? Oh wait are you working on that spell for class? Can I join you?" She plopped down beside him, "First though.." she got in her bag, "I had made these for you, but hadn't seen you yet." She passed him the container of cookies. She had told him she would make him things this term.

Now Herbology, yes.. yes. "So we need to do a clockwise circle and move the wand up, right?" Was that it? She needed to pull her notes out to make sure, but maybe Mo would just tell her if she was wrong or right. She pulled her wand out and made the one clockwise circle and moved the wand up, "Like that right?"

Mo peeked over at the interruption and gave Minerva a big grin, and an even biggggger grin when she pulled out cookies for him. A whole container of them! Merlin... he and Nigel were going to live like kings for the next few days. Oh, and Cat. Mo must share with the Cat. Just because it was polite, though, Mo opened the contained and took out two of the cookies. A taste test, and he offered the second to Min.

"Yeah, I was gonna practice the spell. We must be using it in class next time. You have to draw two clockwise circles in a row while you trace the length of whatever you want to dry." He demonstrated the motion, making circle one and circle two as he moved the wand down his leg. Not that he wanted to dry out his leg, but just for show and tell purposes.

"You want to practice with me? I was thinking I'd pour water in the dirt here and then dry it out." He pointed to a patch of earth at their feet. "Or we could dry out cornstalks. Whichever." He continued drawing circles. "Min. Did you ever have a boyfriend before Ethan?"

Wait, was she lost? She turned back to the girl and raised an eyebrow. Silent and stationary person was making Marigold uncomfortable.

Why was the thing skipping? Alice observed the overly happy kid, trying to put the facts together in her head. She had no reason to be happy.

Hufflepuffs were weird. The whole lot of them.

And now she'd stopped and was staring again. What did she want? The sixth year gave her a look.
