Madame Puddifoot's is a quiet tea shop where you can meet up with your friends.
The tea shop is laid out in a typical English tea room fashion. Lace doilies cover each table on top of the flower patterned table cloths. In the middle of each is a small container with a tea light candle, ready to be lit for those on a romantic retreat. The windows are half covered by fancy net curtains, leaving just enough room at the top to see over and down Hogsmeade's High Street. Little flower and heart covered cushions are on each seat awaiting your arrival.
Sapphira Puddifoot keeps the shop this way because she has to. But she has no desire to look upon all the fancy decorations herself, which is why you'll most likely find her in the back room. She'll come and serve you, but make sure you know what you want to order as she doesn't have all day.

They knew it'd be colder here and so they made sure to bring clothes that were suitable for this kind of climate. Still it was different and it'd probably take time till they got used to it. Good to know it wasn't only him.
"I 'ave noticed." He agreed with. "Maybe we came early or late." He suggested shrugging one of his shoulder. Eventually they were going to meet with the Hogwartians, considering they were going to stay in their castle. He was curious about all of this.
He squinted down at the menu pausing at each type of food. Some probably sounded familiar or not too weird while others earned a raised eyebrow.
He decided to try something new but not too risky. "Lets try ze rice pudding," He suggested while trying to pronounce the r like English people did. Did he do it right?
He looked around looking for someone who worked here. Did they have to go up to a counter and order or something. In the meanwhile Léa could decide if she wanted to try the rice pudding or something else.
Mhmm, maybe. Léa nodded. This wasn't France anymore. What did she know of their customs?
"What iz your 'ouse?" she asked, although she knew he was staying with Gryffindors. He was a male, though, and males shouldn't think you cared about them.
...pudding of rice?! No, she didn't think so. Ew. Just ew. Her face told her opinion about it, so she didn't explain further. Instead, she reread the menu for the tenth time.
"I weel get fruit cake," she said at last. Have to look out for calories and such.

And honest he was kind of nervous? There was a lot riding on this, for him anyways, maybe it wasn't so big of a deal for Alice but West felt like it was the decider. It had to be, because it was all just exhausting and he didn't want to be strung out and sad anymore, and he properly needed an Alice to try.
Would she be on time? West had no clue so he just settled back in his seat and stretched his legs out.
It was surprising that Alice had never actually been inside Madame Puddifoot's, but still true. As she entered the tea shop, the sixth year spent a good few minutes looking around. Within the confines of its walls, the area seemed much different than it had while waiting outside for Ascanius to bring her cake.
Lace doilies? Floral tablecloths? Heart cushions? Alice took in every bit of her surroundings, eyes finally landing on a little table set for two, one right by the window. With a West sitting at it. Hi West. Her West.
Absentmindedly fiddling with the hem of her skirt, she made her way over to where he was and stood next to the table, in case he wanted to pull her chair out or something. Because she was a good girlfriend. Compliant and stuff.
"I wore a skirt for you." Just like he asked. Did he see?

West stood up in a hurry when he saw her, essentially scrambling to his feet and then just spending a few moments just looking because hi, yes, he had indeeed noticed the skirt. The whole outfit. Was pretty. She was pretty. West was smiling and even trying not to think too much about what she did with the necklace and all. Yeah. He tried to ignore the other bits hanging from it.
And he DID move around the table and use all the manners what his father had instilled in him. Chair out for an Alice to sit in.
"I saw." He was STILL seeing, FYI. "You look really pretty." And because he couldn't help himself, he kissed her cheek. Just a sweet little teeny weeny kiss, because he knew she got weird about public stuff, but still.

That expression his face took on when he was staring was rather cute, Alice decided. But only when she was the object of attention. Only then.
"Thanks." Another thing she didn't usually do was show appreciation for West's compliments, but girlfriends did that, and it was the goal to be an excellent one today. Alice smiled a little more when his lips touched her cheek, making sure to snatch his hand up before she sank into that heart cushion.
Resting their intertwined fingers on the doilie adorned tabletop, she looked at him before observing the decorations some more.
Tea shops were weird. So were dates.

He beamed at her and squeezed her hand, managing to sit down next to her without dropping it. Definitely not sitting across from. Gosh, he wanted to be close.
"You know I'm paying right?" Because he just WAS and she wasn't ALLOWED to complain this time. West smiled at her.
"You want to look at the menu? You can get anything you want."

"You are?" Close was reasonable, and Alice found herself subconsciously scooting her cushioned chair closer to West's as she gave his hand a squeeze back. ".... okay."
Boys had to do such old fashioned things to make themselves feel good, it was so ridiculous. But she went along with it because was such an excellent girlfriend and all. He got a smile back.
"No meat though." He knew. Menus?

The vegetarian thing got a nose wrinkle of disapproval that had nothing to do with the no meat and everything to do with Marcus Orion Branxton. "Its fine, its mostly desserts here y'know." Mostly.
He opened one of the menus, just one, figuring they could share.
.... and maybe he could steal a kiss when she wasn't expecting it.

Reaching out a finger, she unwrinkled West'is nose for him before leaning closer to look at the menu. What was his expense limit? How many things could she have?
See, this was why Alice liked to pay.
"I want those." She pointed to the Scotch pancakes. As many as he wanted to buy for her, because she wasn't meant to eat fifteen or so on a date.

Sapphira emerged from her backroom, gave the shop a quick glance, and went to sit on her chair. Kids falling in love under her shop's roof, how romantic. She opened the latest issue of the Daily Prophet and ignored the lovey dovey atmosphere around her. If anyone needs her, they'll holler.

"How many?" On account of West was sure Alice wouldn't just want one. Alice wasn't a 'just one' sort of girl, which obviously was one of his favourite things about her. "What toppings? And what do you want to drink?"
He wanted black coffee... a sausage roll... a big slice of cheesecake... a sticky toffee pudding with ice cream... and fruit salad.
West shifted his chair even closer. Y'know, all casual and stuff.

It took a pause for him to consider her question. The house. It still didn't feel familiar to him, the house thing. "Gryffindor," He answered her not knowing what to make of it. He'd read some historical facts about the house but couldn't make up his mind about it until he met someone from the house. He decided to take a stroll outside once he got enough warmth here. Maybe he'd run into someone from that house or any house.
"What about you?" He asked her. He was there when they were told about the houses they'll be staying with but he couldn't memorize where all of his friends were staying. He did know that he was the only one staying with Gryffindors.
An amused smirk pulled at his lips seeing her face. "Eet doesn't sound zat bad," He told her as she peered at the menu again. "We can share," He joked knowing that she apparently wasn't enthusiastic about the rice pudding.

Seeing that they both decided what they wanted to have, Sébastien looked around again and spotted the shopkeeper. He straightened raised his hand waving it to draw her attention. He didn't know what to call he and hoped that this will do.

Gryffindor, Gryffindor... Léa was distracted for a moment and didn't even acknowledge his question. Oh, right! She remembered it, at last.
"Some girl I met on street said zey are the unnecessarily brave and consequently silly ones," she said. She was obviously entertained by this definition. "I'm with Ravenclaws--ze clever ones." And she obviously liked this.
Léa appeared unsure again on the rice pudding issue. Maybe it didn't... she eyed the menu once more as if that would reveal whether she would like it or not. "Maybe..." But share from someone else's plate?!?!?! NO. A big, fat NO. She didn't want his saliva and germs, thank you very much.

"How many can you afford?" With his gargantuan appetite, there probably wouldn't be much left over to spend if his budget was around the same as hers. "You pick the toppings for me. Black coffee made with milk. And a truckload of extra sugar." Meaning enough to make it look not black anymore.
Alice swung her legs a little and watched him move closer. Saw that, Odessa.

Seriously. The woman ignored the boy for a moment, she was at the end of this article anyway.
Actually. let's get this over with. She flipped the newspaper on the table and got up, made a beeline between tables then stood at the boy. "Welcome to Puddifoot's. Your order?" A small pad an a quill floated from her where she was sitting.

Hearing her words he found himself laughing, "Zat ees interesting," Probably an odd reaction to what was said but the boy had a twisted sort of taste. He liked a challenge and disliked stereotypes. It was good to know he wasn't staying with a boring bunch of people. "I bet you are going to feet fit in, very well," He winked at her sincerely.
"Will you be alone wiz zem?" He knew that he was going to be the only Beauxbatons student there. Which didn't worry him although he wouldn't have complained having familiar company.
He watched the expressions on her face amused. He was about to tell her that she won't have to use his spoon but then the shopkeeper walked over to them.

Her turned his attention to the woman and smiled his charming smile at her. "Merci, madame," Because she welcome them. "Wee would like one rice pudding and one fruit cake," He answered her.

Léa let herself smile along, because the definition was funny--but also probably true, since Taylor looked like a responsible and honest girl. Léa was just glad she didn't have to deal with the Gryffindors. She liked clever, whereas brave was boring.
"And I bet you like Gryffindor already," she said, half challenging him. "I'm starting to zink zey put us in our 'ouses on purpose." Because she was just the Ravenclaw girl, judging by Taylor's definition, and Sébastien wasn't devastated by the news so to speak.
She studied the shopkeeper while he gave the order, then looked at him again to answer him.
"Oui," she said--she was going to be alone in Ravenclaw, but she didn't look bothered by it. She was old enough to stay alone, despite her mother's concern. ('I'm just worried you weel feel alone zere, Léa, because eet's not France anymore.')

"I saved up." But really they weren't all that expensive. He had enough for more than she could actually eat anyways. He was okay with picking toppings though... this was a jam and cream sort of place yeah? Maybe fruit?
He grinned. So... she didn't want black coffee then. Got it. West turned the menu over just to check if they'd missed anything. "Wanna start with three and if you're still hungry we'll get you more? I have enough for whatever you want."

"All my savings are going towards Christmas presents." She couldn't waste pocket money on buying overpriced pancakes at frilly tea shops, now could she?
Three? Just three? That was being stingy, and West knew it. Alice squinted. "Five. Start with five." Pause. "Please." Was that too many?
".... I have extra money if you want it, though."

Hmmm. So he didn't WILLINGLY carry books, but he could be trained to do so. Interesting. She really hated toting her books down all those stairs from the towers. SIGHS SIGHS. Hehe.
She nodded at this answer and smiled at him slightly. Kalla didn't often smile at people. Like LEGIT smile. So he should feel privileged.
"And I have a cousin here at school. He's a meanie, though. Not very sociable. And his hair smells bad. Mine always smells like lavender. Charmed shampoo. Would you like to smell it?"
And wow... what did his question mean? Tilting her head she smiled at him while furrowing her brow slightly. "Well I am seeing you right now seeing as you're sitting here talking to me. What do you mean?"
...
......
OH! Ooooooh.
Kalla's cheeks flooded with color and she shook her head. "No. I'm not dating anyone." She was weird. Had he not picked up on that?
Lawson tilted his head ever so slightly, watching her. She wanted him to smell her shampoo? He simply grinned. "I am sure it smells nice," What else was he suppose to say?
Yes, I would like to? And then lean in and smell her hair? It seemed a little creepy. But seeing the look on her face, it didn't seem like she thought it was. And hence he simply grinned.
He shook his head. She really was different. Or was he confusing her? Should he rephrase his question. "Kalla .. I mean .. are you .." - he was cut short when she finally picked up on his question.
"Yes. That is what I was asking," And that was when he saw her cheeks turn red. It was nice how it seemed to please him that he was affecting her like that. "Do you like anybody?" that was not the same as dating was, of course.
Was he being too personal? He probably was. He wondered if that will come back to bite him in the butt.

"You?"
Probably to anyone who had just met him, his opinions or remarks might be taken as strange or confusing. But Léa, here, seemed to know what he was thinking. "Zat is correct. I do like zem and I 'ope to see someone of zem 'ere," He told her smiling.
While he watched the shopkeeper leave, he turned back to his friend who just answered his question. He nodded in comprehension. "Oui. moi aussi," He answered her question. "Zat should be fun, don't you thsink?" He was excited about staying there to see how these houses were. Despite the fact he wasn't going to be able to check out the other houses areas, he still looked forward to he experience.
His brown eyes scanned the area around him noticing that it became a bit more occupied. Maybe they indeed came early. He twisted in his chair sitting properly instead of straddling his chair thinking that it would be more wise as the food would be coming. Speaking of which, how was the service here? They were going to find out shortly.

Léa shook her head in disapproval, but she was also smiling. She knew Sébastien was that kind of a person and she wasn't judging him, she just couldn't understand the concept. Well. Anyways. Maybe he could enlighten her in the future, once he spent some time with them.
She shrugged. "I 'ope it weel be." It would be a disaster if her mother proved to be correct about 'feeling lonely'. "And I 'ope zey weel be polite to us." Really, that was her worst fear: to be disliked. Taylor had been very polite to her, but she was kind of fearing the other people's reactions. Seeing him scan the area, she did so too and thought the same thing: maybe they really only came early. Well, it was good to know that Hogsmeade wasn't such a horrible place after all.
"I 'eard zere iz a lake," she said, eyes on him again. "Do you zink we can swim?" She'd never swum in a lake. She wondered if it would be.
Minerva couldn’t help but chuckle, why on earth would she mind if he shaved off his beard. “Ethan why would I mind at all? I love your face no matter whether it has the facial hair or not. “ Nothing to her was cuter than his face. “If you feel better with it gone then shave it, honestly honey it’s totally up to you. “ She wouldn’t think he would just keep something because she liked it, but it was sweet all the same. “Plus you will be the hottest guy on that dance floor no matter what.” She couldn’t wait to see him all dressed up again. There was something about him in a suit that she just really liked.
Min smiled at his words. She couldn’t help but just have all the warm fuzzy happy feelings when she was around him. Her blue eyes glanced at the presents, “Ethan Malachi McCarthy” She eyed him with a small grin. She wasn’t upset or anything, it was very sweet actually, but she had asked him not to get her anything else after the broom before term had started. “You got me a broom. That was plenty. You should not waste your money on me.” She looked at the gifts not to be rude she did pick the first one up and open it. Her smile grew as she saw the bracelet. “Ethan it’s so pretty.” He really didn’t need to get her anything, but she put it on her wrist. It fit perfect, “I love it.” but there wasn’t a gift she didn’t like that he had given her. Opening the next one she turned it in her hands. “I love the little owls, this is great. I needed a new journal.” She had been using it for healing things and her other one was getting full. “Thank you so much, you are the best.” She leaned over giving him another soft kiss. The gifts were just amazing she still was eyeing him though at the fact that he shouldn’t have gotten them.
Her smile continued to grow with the excitement he seem to have with her healing over the plant issue. “I figured you would like that. Of course he would and she couldn’t help but enjoy the fact that she could possibly go see him work again. She always liked seeing him in his element he was just so happy when he was with his plants. “I’m glad it did as well. I feel like I have a few more things to work on, but for the most part it really has proven a good choice. Thank you for supporting me through it all.” He was her rock most days and she really did appreciate it. Her heart melted at his words, always so sweet. She couldn’t help but nod in agreement with him when he said that the stands would probably have those dumb turnstiles, but at least there they made sense. “If you look at it like a sports event it really makes sense. You usually pay to attend those, but classes and the library?” That were it bugged her most. She smiled a bit, “I’m getting nervous for the match, but I’m glad you will be there watching.” It made her relax a little knowing he would be there.
Try.. like her eat a plant to go under water and breath. Hmmm she would have to think about that for only a split second. “aaa .. yeah that would be awesome actually.” She smiled at him, of course it would be awesome. Underwater and breathing, which come to think of it they did once in class a few terms ago, but this would be better because Ethan was there. “I would love to go with you once. You can show me the plants or whatever you work with.” She would remember to work with him over break a bit with the heating charm, “No problem during break we can make some time, I bet it won’t take you long to get it down.” Of course he didn’t want sick again, no one wanted sick. She hoped that was the last of him being ill, because she felt horrible being so far away from him when he was. “Try not to get sick at all. I hate seeing you like that.” but she would surly take care of him if she was with him, he never had to worry about that.
She shook her head, “Well I just feel like you are staying in more because I’m not there and well I don’t want you to think you have to. I want you to enjoy your time at school and have all the Uni experiences. I don’t want to think I’m holding you from that.” She sighed hating feeling like she was doing that to him. Clearly there had to be more interesting people at that school than her. People that could relate more and weren’t just stuck in a castle. *sigh* “They are new adventures, all of this is. You have so much opportunity now. It’s all so interesting.” She couldn’t help but turn the frown back to a smile as her blue eyes met his green. “me too.. It will be nice to be together again at the same school and I can’t wait to start attending some classes specific for healing and the type I want to do.” That would be great to get started on all that. She tilted her head at his words about a place to practice. That was great, “Really? That would be wonderful. I think I’ll feel better once we get some practicing in.” She played with the fork on the table thinking of something as she let out a small sigh, “You know we had a routine before I ever did any competitions. Like a tradition we did, that last competition keeps running through my head lately. She wasn’t at that one. We didn’t do our routine and now.. “ She tried to shake herself back into the now and stop thinking too much into that. “I still need to figure out what I’m going to wear. It’s just so hard when I’m stuck not able to go shopping.” She wasn’t sure when she would find the time to do that.
Ethan smiled a bit as Minerva spoke about his facial hair. "I think I'll just shave it off for the event.. then grow it in some more afterwards," he said, lightly scratching the shirt hair on his chin. "I kind of like it myself.." He did rather like how it looked, but it was important that his girlfriend think he look good too. His smile grew at her words. "I guess it's good that I will be partnered with the prettiest girl there then," he added with a wink. He was still a little nervous about it, but he was looking forward to it as well.
Green eyes snapped up as he heard his full name. Very few people knew his middle name, making it a rather rare thing for him to hear it, and very attention getting. He gave her a small smile to see that she didn't seem upset with him and offered a gentle shrug. "I know I got you a broom already.. but since I won't get to see you on your actual birthday, I was hoping we could celebrate it today? It's just a few little things.." His smile grew as she opened the gifts as it seemed that she liked them. She really deserved to feel special on her birthday and if he couldn't be there to make it happen on the actual day, maybe this would be a close second. He grinned as she leaned over to kiss him. "Well.. I hope you like them.." He looked around for a waiter or someone. "Want to get a cake too?"
He leaned back and listened as she talked about her healing progress with plants, watching her with proud awe. She really was stronger than she gave herself credit for, especially given her experiences which would be difficult for anybody. "Of course I would support you.. I'll always be there for you. You know that, right?" He smiled at her, giving her hand a squeeze. "So my dad has talked about helping me build a little greenhouse.. like the one they had for me at home. Maybe you won't mind coming out to see me in it then?" He knew he would have a lot to show her once he got it up and going.
He shrugged and nodded in agreement to her relating the turnstiles to sports events. He didn't think it was all that bad, but it wasn't like a professional team.. but he wouldn't mind paying the fee to see her play. "Yeah.. I really can't believe they'd attach those turnstiles to such essential things.." It didn't make sense.. especially Herbology being a required class below NEWT level. "You will do great," he grinned squeezing her hand again. "I can't wait.. will be just like old times.." Not that last term was all that long ago..
Ethan tilted his head slightly, looking at her curiously, before a slow grin appeared at her answer. So she would want to try the gillyweed and explore underwater with him. "Yeah..? I think it would be a lot of fun," he said, somewhat excited about the idea now. "Sure.. I can show you some of the plants down there.. It really is different than just studying them in a greenhouse or aquarium." He nodded as she agreed to help. He knew he was a lot better with charms than he was even a couple years ago.. but he still struggled with them at times. He could definitely use a hand to make sure he was doing the essential ones correctly. "Thanks.. I've done it enough that you'd think I'd have mastered it.. I think I was in a rush or something." Chuckling a bit, he added, "Yeah.. I'll try not to. I hated it.. and it was even worse that you couldn't take care of me.." He gave her a mock little pout, because he knew she would have babied him, but he also knew she did what she could from afar.
Ethan sighed and shook his head. "Min.. You aren't holding me back from anything. I do go out sometimes.. just not every night. I do need to focus on my studies too," he chuckled. "I want to do well.. Though it would be even better if you were there too." But next year she would be. "Oh that reminds me," he added when she mentioned her area of interest. "I found out more about the Healing program. The first year are studies geared towards general Healing. Then in the second year, the first semester you take classes specific for the area you want.. then the second is an internship.." He gave her an encouraging smile, wondering what she would think of that.
He nodded an smiled lightly. Sure.. he knew of a decent place they could practice. They could go when they were finished eating and sitting for a few minutes here. "You and me both," he chuckled. He was a little nervous practicing on his own, he thought he'd feel better if he practiced with her so they could actually see how it would go. He watched her curiously as she played distractedly with her silverware and he listened to her words, wondering what exactly she meant. "What.. kind of a routine was it?" he asked cautiously, seeing that she was starting to get a little sad. He knew why though. "Well.. since you're making a fresh start with this, maybe it's time for a new routine.. Maybe I can do it with you.." He wasn't sure what he was supposed to wear either, though she did tell him one of his suits so he supposed he wouldn't have to worry. Everyone was more focused on what the women wore anyway, he thought. "Well, we have a few days at the beginning of break.. Do you think it would be too late to wait until then?"

Three? Just three? That was being stingy, and West knew it. Alice squinted. "Five. Start with five." Pause. "Please." Was that too many?
".... I have extra money if you want it, though."
Grin.
"Mine too, mostly. I just made sure I had some for this." Date thing.
More grins.
"Alright, five. And if you want more you can have them. And I don't need extra." See was that so hard saying how many she wanted? No it wasn't. Sorted.
He budged his chair closer still. Couldn't get any closer now. Also, time to order. He tried to get the attention of Mrs Puddifoot.

"I'll want more than five. Later." She already knew so, because five was just a starter. But Alice was a lady, and it was unladylike to order more than that in one sitting, wasn't it? Yes. And she still couldn't have too many, because he was paying.
Maybe she could sneak some sickles into his schoolbag later or something.
His chair was awfully close now, did he know? Alice knew. She saw it. Chair there. West was close enough for kisses now, but ordering took priority.
Then food. Then maybe kisses.

Well fine. He didn't want to sniff her, that was cool. She wouldn't offer again. And REALLY boys liked to sniff her. Or so she thought anyway. She was pretty enough and smelled nice all the time, after all. HMPH.
But he was smiling really nicely at her so Kalla just shrugged. "Okay." What else could she say?
Different... literal... not very up to date with socializing and the like... that was all Kalla. ALL OF IT. And why was he asking her these kinds of questions? HUH?
"I haven't really gotten to anyone well enough to decide if I like them or not. I have been rather busy with quidditch and... studying and stuff." COULD SHE GET SOMETHING TO DRINK?
"Merlin, it's hot in here," she said as she fanned her face with her hand and tugged at her scarf with her other. AND HER CHEEKS WERE STILL RED. He was embarrassing her pretty badly. Not in like a I peed my pants in public kind of way, but more like in a you're cute and I am being weird and it makes me nervous kind of way.
"Why? Are you going to ask me out now? You haven't even gotten to know me yet. Isn't that how this works? What color eyes do I have, even?" she asked as she shut her eyes tight. Was he paying attention to detail? Was he immediately smitten with her? HUH?
