Lesson One Homework

IC Instructions: During the lesson on Tasseomancy each of you learned how to properly do a tea leaf reading. For homework I would like for you to each do three more readings throughout the week: one first thing in the morning (or at breakfast), one midday and one before you go to bed. After each reading create a journal entry telling the symbols you see, which part of the cup they were in and what you think that means for you for that day or the next day depending on the time of each individual reading.

OOC Instructions: Three readings in three different posts. Each journal entry needs to have at least three symbols and the actual body of the entry where you connect it to your upcoming day or the question the reading is about should be one paragraph (5-6 sentences). For each post you don't have to do the reading quite as detailed as in the lesson but I would like for you to try and get the majority of the seven steps in your post. Include links to each post in your PM.

GOOD NEWS!

Hogsmeade will be open until this Tuesday, May 28, so because of that, I've decided to leave the CoMC Homework #1 RP open until then, as well! So if you haven't finished up or still want to submit, you have until Tuesday, May 28 at 11:59 PM EST to submit links to me. I'm not sure of the exact time Hogsmeade will close, so I wouldn't leave the RPing until the last minute.

Be realistic. You are RPing a young student wishing to sell an ingredient to adults in the village. They won't be paying hefty amounts, and it's not realistic at all to RP them doing so. I don't want to squish your creativity, but I do want you to keep it realistic. Let's say you can't sell a jar for more than five galleons.

Finally, no one will actually be RPing the adults considering a purchase. You can just RP your own character and the actions of the villager they're trying to sell to.

Most of all, HAVE FUN! Please ready my homework guidelines here, so you'll know exactly how I'd like you to submit this.

Also, I'm really sorry about how fast this will need to go, but you only have until this Friday, May 24, to get this done. Why? Because this is happening at Hogsmeade, and that's when Hogsmeade closes. I'm not sure exactly what time it'll close, so you may want to get this done as soon as possible. The deadline to submit your links via PM is Friday, May 24 at 11:59 PM EST.

DADA Year Long Activity Log

It's time to get up and start moving! Your task is to achieve at least 3 hours of physical exercise (not including walking to and from classes) and 1 hour of practicing your spell work in the dueling arena each week. In the chart below, please include:

Time spent on Physical Exercise and Type of Activity.

Time spent in the Dueling Arena and Spells Practiced.

Examples of Exercises include but are not limited to:

Face the boggart in the defense classroom and then document your encounter. Describe your strong and weak points with the confrontation and what could have happened if you'd taken a different approach. Five inches in length. Due by Friday.

Do you know the game of Quidditch inside and out? Do you get a kick out of public speaking? Are you looking for more ways to be involved in student activities? { Arithmancy Homework One }

Open your eyes and as you wander around the castle ... to quidditch practice, to classes, to your common rooms, to dinner, ... I want you to find five examples of the golden ratio around the castle.

Tell me how the ratio is present and why it's significant.
Other notes: you can do this one of two ways; actually RP in five different areas finding examples, or just submit your RP-styled posts in the homework with the answers. You can mix and match, even.

Worth: up to 15 points

Extra Credit (for 5-10 extra points): Create your own artwork or object using the Golden Ratio principles. Reminder that it must conform to SS guidelines on graphics (350 x 350 for GIFs and 450 x 200 for still images) and larger than 60 KBs.

All assignments are due no later than June 30th, Midnight GMT. Remember to EMAIL assignments to ProfessorHadley@gmail.com and follow any other requirements as described in my reference thread. You may PM/VM/IM me with any questions on the assignment though =)

I want you all to witness first hand how stars revolve around Polaris, so for this assignment you will spend ALL night stargazing on the grounds. I will set up camp near the Black Lake with all the essentials for you to complete this. You are to find Polaris and track the path of one of the Five Circumpolar Constellations AND a constellation of your choice on a piece of parchment.

OOC: You should RP in this thread on the grounds to complete this assignment. You should have a minimum of 5 posts in order to be eligible for full credit and should include
1 post finding Polaris using the method explainng in class

1 post finding one of the Five Circumpolar Constellations

1 post finding one of the constellations mentioned in class of your choice

History of Magic Homework I

Practise the spell we learned in class (Spiritum Revelio) in five different locations around the castle. Then compose an essay explaining where you practised the spell and what results you found. If you found something, make an educated guess or do some research to discover who died there, when, and why. If you did not find anything, continue to practise the spell until you find five locations where you know it worked.

As a reminder, here is a list of known deaths and locations from around the castle and also the instructions on how to perform Spiritum Revelio.

Your essay of five paragraphs (they can be short paragraphs) will be due exactly two weeks from today's date and time (25 June, 5:20 am GMT). And remember to please follow these guidelines when submitting your homework.
