Despite the warm sun rays shining in through the newly dusted windows, there was a chill in the air as you make your way into the arena. Spring was arriving, but the temperatures weren't much better. The familiar purple mats from the previous lesson were lined up in rows in the middle of the arena (free of sneezing powder thank you very much), each with their own individual, and perhaps slightly off color, miniature desks next to them. Pushed against the walls were sixteen regular sized desks, each with a medium square looking object upon the top, hidden underneath a white cloth. Nooo peaking! Professor Romanos was seated on her own burgundy colored mat in the front, watching the little mechanical bird Sonya run in circles around her while waiting for the students to arrive. Which should be soon.

Settling down on a mat in the center of the room, the sixteen year old glanced at the larger desks curiously before resuming her bird watching. Class would start soon, yeah?
Honestly, she hardly noticed the cold. Most of her thoughts were wondering just how much a little creature made of metal could have so much energy! It was EXHAUSTING. OH! Oh the STUDENTS! "Good morning, Miss Bishop!" she sung happily, glancing up to the fifth year. Oh yes, Sonya. "Thank you. Quite the energetic little one."

Hufflepuffs with a mix of Gryffindor. "Goood moooooorning, Miss Cambridge!" Grinning, Medea stood up, needing to stretch her legs. Oh. Oh, my... WHY DIDN'T SHE THINK OF THIS!? "That Vould have been sooooo greeeeat, vouldn't it haff? But, no. Unfortunately."
Ahem. There was that sculptures question again. AHEM. She would just, pretend she didn't hear it. "Thooose, area a surprise for later in the lesson." NO PEAKING!

See this was why Ascanius liked THESE types of classes- the ones with females at the head of them- they were always nice to look at. And that was half the battle with him. Ugly people just didn't hold his attention. Or make Professors because they were boring and irritating.

So he waltzed in and smirked at his Professor, cause that was his face yeah, and said, "Hello Professor. You look lovely today." Smooth. Really smooth. Smirk.
And then he took a seat on a mat. Nice view.
Oh, the Slytherin with the nice compliments. "Goooood daaay, Mister Stark. You are too kind, really." Would it be mighty awkward if she said he was looking lovely today too?

Someone looked like they rolled out from the WRONG side of the bed this morning. Either that or didn't eat breakfast. Most important meal of the deal! "Good morning, Miss Duvessa! Hope your day is going vell so far."

They should totally have a Yoce Cream class. Should she say something about this. She hesitated to speak again, but then saw the bird, "Oh wow cool bird professor, what is it for?" She had been standing bouncing a bit and then lost focus on the bird and moved to find her mat. Her pretty favorite color always in the front mat.
"Miss Wheatborn!! Good moooorning!" Goodness, the more sunshine-y robed students in her lesson, THE BETTER! "I'm doing vonderful, thank you." She didn't need to comment on the yoga. It was a surpriiiiiiise! Sorta.
And oh how Sonya was loving the attention. The little creature bounced in her running whenever the word 'bird' came up. "It's for meeee to keep an eye on. A bit too much energy to let sit alone." There was also the possibility of un-charming it, but...
That would be cruuuuel. She wasn't going to do that to little Sonya!

Oh, did he JUST get out of bed? Or was everyone else speaking in a much quicker voice today? "Helloooooo, Mister McCarthy! Pleasant day, isn't it?" The sun was out and SHINING and she had a very fantastic early morning yoga session if she did say so herself. Simply....wonderful!

Well, she'd just have to find Sonya later. No doubt running into the wall around somewhere.
"Aaaaaallllllrighty then! I think ve'll begin the lesson." A final glance at her watch SAID that they should start now. It was already five minutes passed the starting time. Taking out her wand, she flicked it towards the arena doors, having them close to anymore lazy walking students. She'd now knoooooow if anyone came in late.
"First of all..." Re-holstering her wand, the professor sat back down, giving the entire class a sympathetic look. "I vonted to congratulate everyone who had vent through the boggart homevork, vhether you succeeded or not. It is not easy, going up against your greatest fear and nor vill it be much easier in the future. However, knowing vot you could be up against and how it'll make you feel can at least somevot prepare you if you ever come across the creature again. Though I vont to make one thing clear now. You are not veak if you hadn't, or don't, manage to defeat a boggart. Emotions are a part of who ve are and can overtake us at times. Ve are only human after all."
She hadn't heard any teasing in the halls or from rumors about the homework, thank Merlin, and she hoped it would continue that way. Moving on with the lesson though. Clearing her throat softly, a beam replaced the serious expression on her face, perking up instantly. Alas, her accent must disappear!
"Today, we'll be doing something a little different than what was planned for today. Going a bit off road with the curriculum, as they say." He he. Erm, people said that right? "We'll be working more on the psychological part of ourselves, instead of emotional. Can anyone tell me...what legilimency is?"

Cheery professor was cheery! That was a surprise considering her man!hunk had been smooching another professor but hey, Professor Romanos was a strong, independent woman. She didn't need a man to make her happy. She just needed ice cream! YEAH! Ice cream and yoga and her wand. BEAM.
Oh..boggarts. Yeah, that had been hard. Ella looked down at her hands and thought of happier things. Things like Alec and Quidditch and ice cream topped with gummy worms. There. MUCH better.

Legilimency. Seriouslyyyyyy. Wasn't that really really realllyyyyy difficult? Ella shrugged before raising her hand to offer an answer. "Legilimency is a way of going inside of someone's head and figuring out what they're thinking, and then interpreting that." At least that's what she thought it meant. And people could just STAY out of her mind, okay? Okay.

No treats. No answering her question about the sculptures. No telling what was under the cloth. This was like one big guessing game! She could play! Half the time her guesses were waaaaaay off but again, SHE COULD PLAY!!!
"That's okay, you don't have to answer. Really, you should technically forget that I'd even asked in the first place." GRIN. No but really, she needed the Professor to forget and not dwell on it anymore. At the moment the woman hadn't said 'no' which meant she could very well take it as a YES! The 'yes' wouldn't happen if the woman finally answered and it wasn't in her favour. Nope nope nope. So yeah...they never had that conversation that day and her kneazle was NOT a witness.
Moving on the class and...oh? Legilimency?

"I've read about that!!!!" Her hand shot up and was waaaaving around, she nearly toppled over in her excitement because she READ!!! It was in one of those books her father got her. "It's kinda like what muggles called mind-reading. You can infiltrate someone's mind and get all the secrets or anything else you want out of it. It's really neat Professor but not permitted because of something about privacy issues. Eh, something like that."
It had been an interesting read.

Laura was sure that she knew this one, she raised her hand and smiled. "Professor isn't that where you can read peoples mind, you focus your mind to get into the head of the person who you are trying to read the mind off." Laura smiled. "It's basically what muggles call mind reading right Professor." Laura beamed hopefully she had this one right, but if she didn't she didn't mind because at least she was learning.

That was right! The boggart homework was definitely a difficult one, but Theo was actually one of those brave ones who conquered it. It did feel good. Anyway... the lesson. Theo recognized the word legilimency, but he wasn't 100% sure where.
He raised his hand to have a go, "Is it something to do with telling the truth, professor? Or someone finding out if someone is telling the truth." SOMETHING like that.

This lesson had officially just become AWESOME. If there was one thing Nessie had always been interested in learning but had never actually gotten the chance to learn it, it had to be exactly this. Legilimency, the ability to read people's minds.
It always had the eighteen year old's attention, especially because she was a curious one and she often wondered what went on in other people's minds. Sometimes she only wanted to have the ability, to see if her mind was normal like others, but then again she believed there was no such proper definition of normal. Everybody could define what was normal and what wasn't differently. But still it interested her vastly how mind reading worked.
Where they going to learn? Because she really, really wanted to. She'd even consider learning it outside of lessons if possible.
Eagerly the redhead raised her pale-skinned hand. "It's having access to others minds, but it requires plenty skill and it can be blocked with occlumency. Both are difficult to learn, but both are useful." And both Ness only wished she could perform.

Clearing her throat softly, a beam replaced the serious expression on her face, perking up instantly. Alas, her accent must disappear!

.... succeeded or not? West looked around a bit anxiously. Did other people not succeed too or was she just saying that because of him? He swallowed a bit self-consciously and stayed silent while she carried on with introducing the lesson.

West put his hand up. "My sister is learning how to do it. Its an imperfect method of delving into someones thoughts and memories while they're still in their head." Imperfect since it could be fooled, or blocked. West's dad was an occlumens, so he knew a little bit about that too. The theory anyways.

Turning pure white, Asher grabbed a mat and did as he was told. Thinking all the way that the day couldn't get any worse. Then it did. She just said legilimency. 'No, she couldn't have said that. There were mats and birds, what did those have to do with legilimency?' he whispered to himself as he sat next to the Professor.
Addressing the Professor "My sister told me about legilimency. She said for someone to preform that spell on you, they have to temporarily remove part of your skull to suck your memories out. Or, something like that." Asher really wasn't sure how it happened. All he knew was that no one was going to take part of his skull off.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Daichi felt a sense of pride rush through him when the Professor congratulated them for facing their boggarts in their homework assignment. He sat a little more upright and then listened to what else the Professor said.
Legilimency. "Its a magical ability to read someone's thoughts, Professor" he said as he raised his hand. And to add. "the ex-Care of Magical creatures Professor, Williamson was one as well, i'm sure of it! Because he KNEW what i was thinking in his office!"

But then he heard the end of the homework talk and tuned back in. Only to just tune back out again. Pfft, did it look like he had ANY idea what legilas or whatever meant? No. So he was just gonna sit here until someone explained it.

OOOH!!!!!!! THAT WAS GOING TO BE AN AWESOME LESSON! Sarah always wanted to be one. "Legilimancy is being able to read people's minds, well being able to see into their mind yet only people skilled at it can interpretate directly.. I wish I could practice legilimancy, yet I also wish that I was the only one that could... it would be awful if someone like my father was a Legilimens" which would mean that he would know all the times that Sarah skipped her chores or that she was the one that raided the sweets cupboard, but then again one can be good at occumancy which would help. If people could read Sarah's mind they would be scared stiff as apparently Sarah thought too deeply for someone her age.
Oh, she had heard about legilimency, not that she knew exactly what it was, but she had a idea. She had once heard it but it was long ago and she had not really paid attention to it, so she had forgotten half of it. The second year old tried to look secretly under the cloth, distracted from where she was thinking about and wondered what was hidden under it. She wanted to look under it but didn’t, she only had placed both her hands next to the cloth.
Hearing that some students were answering the question from the professor she knew that she needed to answer too, even now that she wasn’t sure if she was right and raised her hand. “Eh, I think that it has to do with reading minds… But that is all what I know.” Just when she had answered the question she sat back down and waited for the professor to go on with the lesson.

Wasn't pyschological to an extent sort of connected to emotion?Pyschological was the mind, wasn't it? And emotions were basically feelings of the person either producing them or receiving them. So they were connected in some way.
"Its basically mind reading? Legilimency." Though mind reading was very vague in its own term and perhaps something a muggle made up to be their own 'legilimency'? Tag figured, if the professor heard him, that she would input her thoughts to his answer and he could hear more.

Someone was a bit cheerful. Cassia like usual didn't see the point of correcting the professor. Mainly, because she hated to ruin the awfully good mood she was in. So the Slytherin ended up beaming and smiling. Um...she gets excited easily. Also, at least the Professor knows her name. What if when she corrected the woman, she'd end up confused and decides without a name. So Somerland it was for DADA.
Okay. So lesson started. Cassia listened and nodded and all until it was the time to answer. She first listened to what some of the others said before raising her hand and speaking. " Like everyone already said, legilimency is being able to get into people's head and see what's going on in there." Pretty creepy, no. "The person who is able to do it is a Legilimens. And if this person is skilled they can control others' minds." This is creepier. But kinda cool, like it'd actually come in handy sometimes.

So...they were starting the lesson with a semi-speech about the boggart homework. Dylan tinged green just remembering and thinking about it....How awful an experience it had been. So totally awful...Just a reminder....That's what it had been....A reminder of awful things....that would be happening soon.

Kace remembered when he faced the Boggart. He did not want to go back on that memory....He crigned when he thought of it. He was not keen on working on the assignment nor was he keen on remembering the assignment. As he was dazing....he heard the professor ask a question. What was legillmency?
Kace wondered what it was. He heard other students answers and they seem acceptable. Kace raised his hand and said, "Professor Legillmency is the act of mind reading. You can use your wand and penetrate people's memories and use it against them."
Kace wondered what they were gonna do with this idea. It had to do with mind reading right? Hmm...were people gonna read his thoughts? He really was getting nervous about it.

It such a sweet little bird. Wade wanted to pet it, but it was already off before he could once it had ran around him.. and now it was lesson time.
Wade knew a little about legimency, and uncomfortable it could be, as he rose his hand. "Well, Legimency can give the caster a direct view on your thoughts, especially those that are emotionally strong." That's pretty dangerous, having someone know what affects you like that.

Romanos seemed to be SO happy! At least, that's what the boy seemed to be getting from the way she greeted him back. It was as if the woman had had a ton of ice cream or something beforehand. ... Oh. ICE CREAM. GRIN. "Anytime Professor!" he said, giving her a two finger salute.

Because the boy had chickened out from this. He just... wasn't courageous and no amount of ice cream could have helped him in that case, he knew that.
Legilimency? BLINK. "Erm... Professor?" he said, raising his hand in the air, "It's the act of going through the layers of someone's mind... and then... interpreting what you find?" Because... what else would you do with going through someone's thoughts? Unless you were just being nosy.

"Legilimency is the act of penetrating someone's mind by navigating through the many layers of the mind. The person casting the spell is able to see the person's thoughts, emotions and memories."
She finally took a breath when she was done.

Eliza chuckled as the little bird ran into her legs. Maybe those eyes don't actually work? she wondered briefly before bursting into some muffled giggles. It was just too adorable that the adorable and cute and lovely little bird had bounced into her legs. She waved at it again and sang/talked to it. "Oh hello, hello little bird, little bird! Byebye now!" She waved at it again and went to her mat.
She was pretty sure she knew what everyone would hear in her mind if they read it - so she wasn't too scared about giving away any secrets or anything. Pretty much just a bunch of excitement, love, and happiness, and a burning desire for some rocky road - but that's about all for the moment. She raised her hand to chime in, "Professor, I agree that Legilimency is the art or magical ability to read someone's mind and memories. Is it also true that if you're really really good at it, you can not just read what they think but even influence what they think of? Like plant ideas or images?" That would be pretty awesome. She'd never use it for anything other than good of course. Things like making bad people only think about happy good things - and making sad people only feel happy. It could be such a happy happy place, right?

Minerva was fidgeting at her mat, she had pulled out her parchment for notes, but was just doodling Ethan McCarthy and hearts all over it. Not realizing he had sat down next to her until she had heard his wonderful voice. She smiled, but wasn’t able to say much, because Professor Romanos had started talking. Time for class, alright sounded good.. She turned to face forward and fidgeted doodling some more. Making little ice cream cones instead of hearts around Ethan’s name now as she listened.
Looking up she smiled, she did beat her boggart and that was an awesome feeling knowing what it was. She then thought about what question the professor was asking, but the little bird was distracting her. She watched it move and move, but then she tried to focus again shooting her hand up “Professor.. ewe w Professor it’s magic that can take memories or thoughts out of a person’s mind.” and that sounded so COOOOL, but so scary at the same time. Was that what they were doing, was that going to be the lesson would they read people’s memories or even thoughts. Glancing at the person next to her she smiled, but some people didn’t have to do that magic to know everything now did they.
