This particular room has served as an office to a number of different professors over the years. Some of which include revered professors such as Septima Vector, Bree Geltz, Kali O'hara, Lesley Modulo Fox, Matthias Pythagoras Wenlock, Onyx Xavier Frost, and of course, Macadrian Ashling Shackleton-Clark. With each new Professor that has made this office homey, Josephina is sure they each brought their own particular flair to its decorations to accommodate their tastes. Just as Josephina did when she first entered upon this room just several years ago now.
The walls have been painted a light blue-gray color and there are a handful of paintings hung around the room, giving off a rather comfortable aura. One of the paintings is a rendition repainted by Josephina, herself, of a canal near her hometown in Perugia, Italy. There is a framed miniature Italian flag, as well as a third painting of of the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa.
As with typical office decorum, there is a large, polished wooden desk, that once belonged to each of her predecessors. There are a few neat stacks of papers and worksheets on the desk. There are also a few framed photographs sitting on her desk; one of Josephina posed with her two sisters, one of her parents, Nicole and Marcus, sitting on their couch. There's also a photograph of a baby girl, about toddler-aged, who will crawl around in the photo and maybe even disappear completely if you watch long enough, but have no fear, she'll be back! And an even more recent photograph, which you might recognize as your Herbology Professor with your Arithmancy one, taken on their recent trip to Italy. Behind the large wooden desk sits a black executive style chair. Directly on the other side of the desk - where visitors may sit - are two smaller black chairs, but still just as comfortable.
There's a bookcase on the left side, which contains various titles that Josephina collected over the years. Some these include, but are not limited to, The Complete Book of Numerology, New Theory of Numerology, Numerology and Gramatica, A Look Into The Future, and Olde and Forgotten Bewitchments and Charmes. There are also muggle classic books by Charles Dickens and Jane Austen, for which are a few of Fina's guilty pleasures.
Though the door is nearly always open, proper etiquette dictates knocking and addressing your identity before entering. Especially as Professor Hadley likely has her back to the door where she is playing with her puppy named Baisley or her kitten received from recent graduate, Lorelai Bristol, in which she conveniently named Bristol. Just entering without permission is rude and punishable with either point deduction and/or detention for being disrespectful.
OOC: No, there is no waiting area, but please do not clog up this thread with useless chatter of 'waiting to enter'. Have your character knock and then wait for Professor Hadley to respond to either enter or to come back later.
There are plenty of places around the school that allow for chat with your friends; Professor Hadley's office is NOT the place for it and doing as such will be cause for appropriate discipline actions.

"I have concerns... about Oakey Gunter." BIG concerns. "His...." what was the word she was looking for? unnatural? intense? unusual?... "err, fears of flesh eaters and goodness knows what else, is affecting his ability to perform in Herbology.."
"He requires a lot of... coaxing, and reassuring," she began, choosing her words selectively, avoiding the term 'babying'. "...and I wonder if he might be better off dropping the subject if he can't handle it."
So naturally, she had to see Fina... being his Head of House she could explore his options with him.

Alyssa nodded when the Professor basically confirmed her thinking. Dreams and ambitions weren't silly. They only were if one gave up on trying to fulfill them. "Professor I have always wanted to be an Auror ever since I was a little girl.My Dad is one and both my brothers are training to be one. I just don't know whether I have the qualifications to be one." Alyssa told Professor revealing her ambition plus her fears at the same.

But she didn't have to contemplate too long as the librarian made his way up to her desk and spoke on behalf of both of them. Daniel, from the looks of things, seemed shy. When Leo had explained the situation to Josephina he let her take the wheel of the conversation. She was Daniel's head of house and the person best equipped to decide what needed to be done if anything. Glancing over at Daniel, he waited for the timid little badger to respond. Hopefully he wouldn’t get tongue-tied and say nothing.
Telling the boy to be brave seemed to have been a good strategy since Daniel divulged his fear of people and that the favourite thing in the whole world was books to Josephina. Leo gave the boy a silent thumbs up as he waited on Josephina’s next move.

Elise made her way down to the second floor, small package in her arms carefully sheltered as she walked slowly. No chance of tripping over her feet for this visit. She needed this package to be intact when it was delivered, else there was no point. Using a reparo'd just make her feel disgusting. Making your own gifts was far better than using a spell, anyway.
The hall seemed empty enough, but fingers crossed Professor Hadley was in there. Taking a deep breath, she raised her spare hand and gave three soft but sharp knocks. Convinced that she'd been heard, Elise stepped back a few steps and waited.

What was that though?!? Concerns about her PREFECT? Oh. Just about Herbology and his skills level in the subject, but honestly, she didn't blame Oakey for his dislike for the subject. And from what he told her of his career aspirations, it wasn't like he even needed the subject. It was just an . . . extra.
"I do know he doesn't need the subject given his career aspirations of what he expressed to me last term..." Fina said thoughtfully. "But .... despite his fears, perhaps he just wants an .... extra subject .... that he doesn't necessarily have to worry about getting the top marks, because it won't matter after Hogwarts. Perhaps ... there's some sort of remedial version he could partake in?"

Fina nodded when Alyssa confided in her by sharing her dreams of becoming an auror. Pulling open one of her drawers the one with files on each of her badgers, she pulled out a single manila folder, and flipped it open, seemingly scrutinizing it a few moments. Although she had already looked it over when the results got sent to her, but it seemed right to look it over again. "12 OWLs, 10 of which you achieved Outstanding marks, ...." Fina began contemplatively. "Miss Potter, I believe with these kinds of marks, you're definitely on the right track toward being accepted into the rigorous Auror training, but you will definitely want to focus much of your attentions for your NEWT studies on at minimum subjects such as Defense, Charms, Herbology, Transfiguration, and Potions. Of course you could do more than these five, but you'll want strong marks in those definitely."
She paused again, looking over the scores. "Which also means, given your scores, that you'll really need to make sure you study extra for Charms... and put forth some extra hard work..." Bellaire was tough, from what she'd seen, which would be good...

Leaning forward in her seat, she nodded, when he explained his .... other problem, of being scared of everyone. Odd considering he DID get sorted into Hufflepuff, which led her to believe that he would no doubt grow out of this ..... phase.

Which meant that he found comfort in the library because of the books, not necessarily because he wanted to hide from his peers. "Well, can I share with you a little secret?" She paused, but not long enough for him to answer back. "Books are of great comfort, I agree, but over the years, I've also learned that having someone there to confide in.... is of equal comfort. And as a fellow Hufflepuff, I can tell you that there is nothing greater than the loyalty and trust you will have in a friend. Whether the friend is a book , at first, or later, becomes one of your housemates."
She paused again, hazel eyes flickered between Leo and Daniel a moment. "And something else.... you're lucky, because Hufflepuffs? We're known for being some of the nicest kids at Hogwarts, which means your housemates, will become like your family." Soon enough. "Have you met anyone yet in our house?"

A small, shy smile appeared as he got a thumbs up, but he looked back at his Head of House as she spoke again. He tilted his head as she asked if she could share a secret. It seemed that she was going to tell him anyway, so he just stayed quiet and listened. Books had always been there for him, they hadn't made fun of him for being quiet, they'd just shown him whole new worlds.
He'd never thought of books as friends before, but he could only agree with that assessment of them. He couldn't see an actual person becoming a friend who'd stay around long enough for him to be able to talk to them about absolutely anything, which was what she was implying, right? Lyssa had been persistent enough to get him to talk a little, but she was big and would be leaving soon too.
Known for being nice. That was something he'd heard a few times. He hoped they would be a little more like his mum than his dad if they were going to be like his family. Her question brought his blue eyes up from the ground as he gave a nod. They were all big people, though! He answered quietly again "I met Lyssa and some other people and a really loud Gryffindor." She had been wearing red, right? Maybe she could teach him to be loud!

Seren was... surprised by Fina's response. It seemed as though she wasn't vested in her students' success. If she were to be completely honest, the fact that Fina had gone down that path, irked her.
She'd been mulling through how she could best explain the situation to Fina, as it appeared she wasn't understanding. "You've been... teaching for a while, I'm sure you understand the restrictions that come along with students that require more one on one support than others." And sure, Oakey wasn't academically challenged... just crippled by his emotions. Or something. "He deserves to have that support, but only if it's what's best for him."
Her hands, busy with gestures swirled though the air as she verbalised her thoughts.
"Naturally, a remedial option would be sound, but Oakey doesn't possess any.. intellectual learning difficulties, it's more of a social issue, and frankly, setting up special classes for him would be humiliating and not helpful in the least."
Because really, what was she supposed to do? Bring mundane and boring plants into the castle for him to trim, fertilise and water? That wasn't Herbology, that was recreational gardening.
"See the primary issue is, he is reluctant, uncomfortable and ... " disruptive? distracting? "... frightened of even being in the greenhouses, let alone working in them. Merlin! He was scared about observing the Weasley Swamp on the first floor... from a distance." Would she understand now?
Seren had come here under the impression that as Oakey's Head of House, that Fina would take greater interest in the well being and success of the Badgers, after all, wasn't it their aim to guide, to inspire and to educate their students... not just simply to get by because it wasn't directly linked to their career choices.

Alyssa watched as Professor Hadley pulled out a file and read from it. Alyssa craned her neck to see what she was reading but then her question was answered when the Professor read out OWL scores and then listened as the Professor advised her what she had to do. Nodding her head she replied.
"I definitely will be putting more emphasis on those subjects Professor but I hope to attempt to do all 12 subjects. "Alyssa paused hoping that the Professor didn't think her too ambitious.
Then she frowned. "I know that I should improve my score in Charms. It's not like I haven't been practicing them. I just don't know why I didn't get a better grade. If it was Professor Schirmer, I would ask her if I could have private lessons with her. But with Professor Bellaire, I'm not sure whether she will do that." Alyssa confided in her Head of House.
"But I am currently attending her Advanced Charms Club meetings, so hopefully I will be able to brush up my skills in Charms there."

Leo was fine with letting Josephina take the reins of the conversation and to dig deeper into why Daniel was so shy. It was her office and one of her badgers. Moving to stand a little to the side he listened as Josephina spoke and Daniel replied to all her questions in a very shy tone but still hearable. As the conversation broached the topic of having someone to confide in Leo cut in saying "You are welcome to come and talk to me any time you want Daniel. If you can’t find me you can always come to my office."
In order to help with the transition as Daniel took the steps to get to know his house mates and students from other houses. Leo had the feeling that the young boy would need lots of support and encouragement but so did everyone braving into the unknown.

Seren had come here under the impression that as Oakey's Head of House, that Fina would take greater interest in the well being and success of the Badgers, after all, wasn't it their aim to guide, to inspire and to educate their students... not just simply to get by because it wasn't directly linked to their career choices.
Fina tilted her head to one side and nodded as Seren spoke and talked with hands. What was up with that anyway? Her mother talked with her hands. But yes, of course she understood that about teaching students who just ... didn't get it. But did her colleague also fail to understand that she wanted her puffs to be well-rounded individuals? Which didn't necessarily include being the top tier in every subject, but just having the basic understanding of some of the subjects in which they were weak? She couldn't very well change his fears, but she did see her point about remedial Herbology being ineffective too.
"So .... you want me to talk to him about dropping Herbology?" Since he didn't intend to pursue anything related to the subject after Hogwarts anyway. Not that she blamed him.
Or had she completely misunderstood Seren's point? Because really if she wanted her to talk to Oakey about getting over his fears, well, that was out of the question. Changing someone's fears would have been like waiting for rain in a drought; useless and disappointing.

Fina's eyes had mostly been on Daniel, occasionally looking toward the librarian to see that he hadn't escaped her office. He was definitely painfully shy, that much was clear, but for what reason, she was unsure. He had met older students and even one in another house, but somehow she had the feeling as if a loud student helping him was not the best solution. Not initially anyway.
"Lyssa.... Alyssa, you've met her. Good, good." She said, mulling over some things in her mind. "So then, how would you maybe feel about hanging out with her and using her as a big sister type of figure? She can help you .... show you the ropes and you could learn from her, I think." And she had the distinct feeling too that having Alyssa mentor a younger student would be good for HER as well.
And of course, he had found a 'friend' in the librarian too. Good for him too, having male role models.

If you approached her that you needed additional assistance with certain charms, then I have no doubts that she would be more than pleased to assist you." And if not..... "And if she doesn't, then you let me know, and I will speak with her."

Seren had laced her fingers together and somehow managed to keep them in her lap without too much fidgeting, as difficult as that was. She sat impatiently, wondering what her colleague was thinking, and then the woman spoke...
Drop... Herbology.
"Er... well, I think to ask him to drop to subject would be.." too harsh? not productive? unnecessary? "... well, I was thinking, that perhaps you could talk to him and perhaps see if he could somehow overcome his fears." Didn't Medea do something on that sort of thing? Meditation or yoga or... something? "But, if it's simply not possible, then dropping the subject would be for the best." For both of them. Less stress on his part, and less multi-tasking and reassuring on her part.

Daniel's blue eyes snapped back to Mr. Kitridge when he spoke up and a small, grateful smile crossed his face. He was pleased that the man wasn't irritated than he had a sort of attachment to him. Maybe it was because the adult had helped him when he didn't need to and had been perfectly polite and reassuring. Maybe it was because he hadn't gotten frustrated with him like so many people had before and maybe it was just because the man ran a library - though that was only more recently discovered.
Tilting his head at her suggestion about hanging around with Lyssa, Dan frowned slightly, confusion showing up in his young features. So he'd spend time with her and she'd help him get to know people and help him in lessons? He was more than okay with that since she'd already insisted that she was there to help him, but even for one so young, he was worried about whether she'd be okay with it for the rest of the year and however long she had left at Hogwarts. He gave a small nod to the woman before him, but couldn't stop the question that slipped from his lips. "What if she doesn't want to?"

Wait. She didn't want him to drop the subject? She wanted him to overcome his fears? Oh no.
"Seren ... " she laced her fingers together on top of her desk, wondering how to best phrase this. "The boy is nearly seventeen. I just don't think having him overcome his fears will be much use." And then it would be just painful watching him struggle with his weakness. She's been there, done that. "If he has no interest in the subject, forcing him to do something he strongly... dislikes ... will not be .. beneficial for anyone."
But having said all that. "But if it'll make you feel better, I will talk to him. And see what sort of feedback I get from him about the subject." And she will leave it up to him.

Of course he would be hesitant about that suggestion, because Daniel, from her initial perceptions seemed hesitant to trust anyone. But she also was sure that she knew her housemates and that Hufflepuffs were above all, loyal to each other and would not want to see one of their kind fall back and be pushed down.
"It wouldn't be permanent. Just as a sort of mentor... to help you get situated..." But if on the off chance Alyssa said she was too busy, then ... there were others. "If she doesn't want to or is too busy, then ... I'll find someone else in Hufflepuff who will." She meant that too; she'd do it herself, except it would be awkward since she wasn't a student anymore and it would defeat the purpose of him adapting to student life. Besides, he had Kitridge as an adult mentor.

When the Professor told her that she didn't need her to help with taking care of her pets, Alyssa was disappointed. She had loved taking care of the creatures in the Sanctuary but ever since Professor Williamson had left, she wasn't sure whether they were still allowed to, and she loved animals. But she hid her disappointment and smiled again.
"No worries, Professor. Do you let me know if you change your mind about needing help with anything. I'll leave now and go speak with Professor Bellaire." Alyssa told Hadley.
"Thank you again, Professor for taking the time to speak with me. I really appreciate it."Alyssa smiled before turning around to make her way out of the Professor Hadley's office.

And Baisley was getting even older - he was like 11 or so, and quite lazy. She worried of him sometimes, but she supposed it was just the natural circle of a dog's life.
Stroking Bristol's fur in a relaxing manner, the brunette looked up at the sound knocks at the door. Questions on the homework perhaps? Continuing to smooth the fur, she called out calmly, "Come in."

Once getting Hadley's approval the Hufflepuff opened the door and entered the office instantly smiley as her eyes gazed at her Head of House. The smile didn't last long and within a few seconds Renesmeee went to pouting, her thinking face, as she closed the door behind her.

"Hello, Renesmee." And now to wait. "Thank you. Lorelai Bristol, former Hufflepuff gave her to me... several years back now." Total surprise and unexpected gift at an end-of-term feast too. What was up with the mumbling and the pouting though? Raising an eyebrow curiously at the captain, she brought a finger subconsciously to her lip in thought.
"You know, you really shouldn't mumble, Renesmee. I honestly can't understand a word you're saying and ... well, I know you can talk clearly." She's seen it. First hand, on the pitch and the locker room. Mmhm. "Now, please, sit down, take a deep breath, and just speak to me." Because the captain DID want to speak to her, since she had traveled up to her office to visit; that much, Fina was certain of.

"It was quite valuable, yes." Hadley agreed, as she continued to stroke the cat. "Not that I expect that from any of my students either. But it it's thoughtful, nonetheless." No. She didn't expect that at all. Even if it was mostly because Lorelai's own cat had a litter of kittens and Lor was unable to take care of all them; still thoughtful that she thought of her professor to give one to.
Nodding when Ness took her seat and apologized, she smiled comfortingly. "'ts okay."
And now the question. Career talk. "Uh.... in a few years? I never really say this or recommend this, because I don't condone Professional Quidditch as a career in most cases, but you? I think you could, if you wanted to. Also where I see you, won't help .... because you have to look at yourself and ask yourself if you see you there. Look at your interests and what you're good at...." Did that help?

Minerva found herself wondering around the corridor, she absentmindedly made her way to her head of houses door. What brought her here she wondered, she wasn't really going anywhere just walking around the castle, thinking about things. Term was almost over and it had been an interesting term for the fifth year.
As she looked at the door, Minerva decided to pay her head of house a visit. She hadn't been here for awhile and that was highly unlike her. Since her first year she had been very familiar with this office and had come to really look up to the person that it belonged to. *knock* *knock* she wondered if she was there and hoped she wasn't busy and wouldn't mind a social visit.
