The Lions, reigning Gobstones Cup champions, sit under a bright crimson and gold banner representing their house. Welcome to all returning Gryffindors and welcome as well to the new Lions! Your bravery and courage are second to none!
Looking around at the excited chatter and all of her fellow Gryffindors, Ira smiled wide. But one thing.. she did feel somewhat awkward. What exactly was she supposed to do as a prefect? The others sure were doing a good enough job, so she just decided to do what she thought she should do. Chat up the new ones.
Ah! There was a young girl just in time. The fifth year had just seen her getting sorted to Gryffindor, so going ahead to where the girl sat, she went up to her, and lightly tapped on her shoulder. "Hey pretty Gryffindor!" she said, tilting her head a bit, "Welcome to the pride!" Wasn't this how she herself had been welcomed?
Turning to the older girl the young red head was startled for a moment, before covering it with a smile as she actually registered what was said before replying.
"Um... thanks, I'm Antoinette Collins" she replied more formally than she herself expected as she stuck out a hand to introduce herself to the older girl before curiosity seemed to be bubbling up in her system as she asked a question before mentally slapping herself. "How long have you been at Hogwarts? Um... I mean what's your name?"
Yes Antoinette, you ask people their name before you ask them how long they've been at a school, even if they're wearing a shiny badge!

Messer tried to summon up his inner Gryffindor bravery, if he got those things inside him, before he went to the Lions table to face Alice and probably her wrath The forth year was lucky he survived from her Hulk mode at the end of the feast last term but somehow this time he feel that he won't be that lucky anymore especially after sending her a latter instead talk to her in person. He could feel his heart beat faster every time he got closer to the Gryffindor table.
And there she's, talking with her housemate. Maybe its not a good time. Maybe he just come back later after the Headmistress give her speech.
Whatever. He's doing this now! Before he lost his best friend because of his stupidity and cowardice, if he's not already.
He walked toward the girl. "Alice."

Shaking her hand with Antoinette, the Gryffindor prefect sat down besides her. Looking around the table once more, she nodded and smiled at some of the newcomers. Come on! Where were all of her lions?!
Her attention back to the girl besides her, she replied, "How long?" Heh.. "Five years. I mean, I'm a fifth year." Ira looked at the first year, a slight smile playing on her lips. "And I'm the female prefect, Ira Wilson." It did feel awesome enough saying that about herself.
"You are going to love Hogwarts!" Ira said, suddenly wanting to reassure the girl. Though she seriously had no idea why she said that. "And of course, Gryffindor is the best!" she said, grinning.

Alice latched her arms, bat and all, around Selina's neck and hugged her Mama back. "I adore you, too, Mama Selina. Didn't I say that already?" Maybe she wanted to hear it more often? The lioness would tell the Head Girl she loved and adored her everyday if that was what she wanted. She liked her to be happy. And if Selina was happy when her Biter said nice things and tackle-hugged her and sat in her lap, then that's what she would do.
AND. And she totally heard that comment about the non-girly sleepover and went all BEAM mode on her Mama.
Selina did not have favorites amongst her ickles, but if she did it would totally be Alice. The younger girl was turning out quite nicely and the redhead liked to think that a lot of that had to do with the seventh year's direction. Merlin, case and point: her bat was beautiful and well groomed. It rivaled the loveliness of her own bat, Mortimer. WHICH WAS A BIG DEAL.
She felt her little lion hug her and she gave her a quick squeeze after she released her. Pulling away, she grasped onto the girl's shoulder and said, "You are going to be brilliant this term, Biter." And she firmly believed it. After all, she had the UTMOST confidence in her little lion. If anyone could make Selina's last term at school unforgettable Quidditch wise, Biter was just the ickle to do it.

Seemed like a nice kid. Yeah, Selina was always partial to new ickles, but this one genuinely seemed like a nice kid. Then again, ALL of her Gryffindors were nice kids- they all were just crazy and unhinged. She sometimes wondered if that was her fault. The Gryffindor house had not been SO out-of-hand until Selina had become captain. Now all of the ickles just screamed awesomeness.
Eh, she never apologized for how cool her ickles were.
"And you, Ellura, you said? Welcome to Gryffindor. We're all a bit mad here." That sounded familiar.

And there was NO way that anyone was going to argue with her on that point or else Mortimer would get involved.
She handed Dylan the cookie and pat his head, "There you go, kiddo. Take as many as you want." Pretty soon she was going to stop handing them out and just leave them there. Kurumi wanted her to be all nice when she gave them out, but it was just easier to let people grab them.

"I won't, I won't.. sorry, I forgot." She paused and grinned, "Nice to see you too, Alice." And then she was being hugged and the girl briefly returned the hug whens she realized she was being dooped to get another cookie. She did know she could take as many as she liked, yeah?

Merlin forbid someone got hurt on Selina's watch that would be REALLY bad for her. And she was already stressed about the Head Girl badge, she did not need injuries on her first night back. That would set this term off with a really bad tone.
It did not mean, however, that no wrestling meant no sleepover. She thought the idea of getting all of her ickle lions together for a sleepover just the girls of course was a great idea. No one else had to really worry about it. The redhead could handle all of the ickle lions girls at once... yeah? Yeah.
"Of course," Selina said ruffling her hair, "Eating is a huge part of sleepovers." Not that Selina herself was very hungry. She was feeling super ill all of the sudden, but she would push through the feast. She'd be fine.
And then there was another voice speaking to her, this time male. The boy from the platform? Zack? That was who it sounded like. But at least he was saying good night, so it seemed he understood she was trying to sleep. She made a grateful little noise/groan/grunt, just so he knew she had heard him, but said no more.
Could she sleep now?
Zack let the girl sleep as he heard some response from her. Or did she make noises while sleeping? He didn't know but he thought it was better if he just let her take some rest rather than disturbing her again. He could but he thought not to. Maybe she could get some energy after eating some delicious food that was about to be served to the hungry lions and lionesses.

This was perfect! Now she was had at least one new person that she KNEW actually in her house. "How did the rest of your summer go? Did you meet anyone else from Hogwarts?" Lex reached over for another cookie while she waited on her answer and began munching on it.

It probably wasn't a good idea to go bothering people when they didn't look too happy but, well, this was the start of term feast! Even if everyone was dying for the speech to be done with they were happy...or just NOT frowning!
Lex reached over and gave the girl a light poke. "Hi! Welcome to Gryffindor!" Because she was SURE she'd never seen that girl around the Common Room before. "I'm Alexa and you are?" She even offered the girl a smile hoping it would be contagious.
The table was filling quickly with new Gryffindors. Lex spotted another one sitting by herself and couldn't help but scowl a bit. Why did these people like sitting alone? This was the GRYFFINDOR table for Merlin's sake! If they wanted to be all anti-social then they should've been sorted into Snakes!
Lex leaned onto the table so she could get a better look at the girl then put on another smile to replace the scowl. "HAAAAI! Welcome to Gryffindoooor!" This was the house of the friendly!...Or was that Hufflepuff...?
"Hey!" Lex made a response to the next voice before she even turned to see who it was. When she did see she felt she needed to greet her again. "Hiya!" Her name was...Ira...right...? They had a few classes together last term. So she would be Kurumi's replacement! Well she sure was happy like Kurumi! "How's it going?"

HEEEEEYY. There was that girl she'd met in Charms class. The girl wasn't exactly the smartest cookie Lex had ever met but she would say hi to her too because this WAS the start of term feast and everyone was being friendly.
"Hey Oichi!" Because she remembered her name. Heh. Some people were easier to forget than others. "How was you summer? Did you do anything epic?" Epic was good. It kept people from going brain dead while they waited for something to do.
For a moment her eyes drifted to the Staff Table. The Headmistress needed to start the speech soon because she was getting hungry and impatient.
Lex beamed at her. "I heard singing just now. Was that yooooou?" It sounded nice enough so it had to be Melanie because she thought the girl was good singer and if the whole education thing didn't work out well for her she had something promising to fall back on. It was true too. Learning wasn't for everyone.
"My summer was pretty mixed! I had fun at the start because of the sleepover at Cassia's but then I had to visit my grandparents and nearly DIED but then I guess I enjoyed the rest of it. Got to see Vivi and had ice-cream with a bunch of my friends--Oh and I never got to thank you properly for helping me pack!!" Best. Day. Ever. She never thought Amanda could scream that high before!
"And how was yours?"
If she was hearing correctly then Penelope was saying something about being...tired...?
"Didn't you get a good night's sleep last night?" If she didn't then she would really be tired especially after such a long train ride? "Daddy made me go to bed kinda early because he had a feeling I'd be tired otherwise. I think the speech will be pretty though so we can eat then you can go sleep!"
Well not really if they were still having that sleepover thing but she had a feeling that saying that wouldn't have made the girl feel any better so she left it out.
Christmas smiled at the girl and said "Thanks i am glad to be in Gryffindor and thank you for welcoming me"

"I had a weird summer, nothing special, happens every year." Because if the summer got boring she always found a way to make it NOT boring. It was either that or suffer through it and slowly go insane. Not something she was looking forward to hence why she tried avoiding it when she could.

There were two ways she could look at this situation. It was disappointing that there would be no wrestling but at the same time she had to be realistic. What if Scary-Bat Girl was the one that got chosen to be her wrestling partner?

That thought was a terrifying one. She could suddenly see herself being mercilessly KILLED and the image left her even more scarred than the time the girl raised her bat at her. "You know...now that I think about it...wrestling seems like a pretty dumb idea......." She barely managed to choke out. "Lots more fun can be had without it." And she would still be alive in the morning which was good enough for her!
A smile came back to her face when the girl began ruffling her hair. Vivi used to do that..."It is! And we'll have tonnes of candy, then stay up all night and we can have a sugar rush then jump on the beds and have a pillow fight and...and..." The sugar inside the 12 year was now talking and it was getting louder.

Oooooooohhhh. Further proof that the girl was oblivious. She gave him a apologetic smile. "Sorry about that, I tend to think anyone I haven't seen before is new....though when I think about it...didn't I run into you that one time in the Common Room..."

Sir Nicholas had never missed an opening feast in his life and he wasn't about to start now. In his rush to get to the Great Hall the lion ghost chilled several students with water as he zoomed through them as opposed to beside them.
Slighty flustered and out of breath Sir Nicholas halted right next to the Head Girl. "Pleaseeeeeeeeeee tell me i haven't missed the speech." he demanded of the seventh year girl in a panic-stricken voice. If he had then he'd sink through the floor in embarrassment.
Regaining his breath he eyed the lions around him. "Good evening everyone and welcome to Gryffindor to those of you that have just been sorted into this fine house." Sir Nicholas greeted with big smiles in every direction.

That thought was a terrifying one. She could suddenly see herself being mercilessly KILLED and the image left her even more scarred than the time the girl raised her bat at her. And she thought she did things at the last minute.
Maxwell laughed at her responses. "No, i'm not excited for classes either...they're so boring...well, most of them. D.A.D.A isn't bad and neither is Transfiguration....Potions though.." He made a face like he smelled something awful. "I hate Potions...it's my worst class. But hey you could have it worse, Kid...it's OWLs year for me." He said shrugging and then her question about Magnus. "I'm not sure, i owled her over the summer and got nothing back...i'll probably try to head to her office when i have a free period tomorrow.."

She was a little afraid for when she ventured out to hand out the rest of Kurumi's present to the other houses. Other houses were weird to her. She never could REALLY tell what they were going to do or how they were going to act. That was sort of why Gryffindor was the best house- period. And there was NO way that anyone was going to argue with her on that point or else Mortimer would get involved.
She handed Dylan the cookie and pat his head, "There you go, kiddo. Take as many as you want." Pretty soon she was going to stop handing them out and just leave them there. Kurumi wanted her to be all nice when she gave them out, but it was just easier to let people grab them.
He took the cookie had he just blinked at the patting on his head, that was a first.. but hey he had a cookie to eat! "Thanks Selina" wait a minute! did she just say take as many as you want? well he wanted the whole box so.. was that allowed? "Is.. is there a limit to how many we can have?" he asked wondering if he wanted to hear the answer or not, he wasnt sure about it. He then started to munch on his cookie, now that was the way to start the term with a cookie from Kurumi! He then took a break and looked at Selina "How are you? had a good summer?" he asked before looking at the badge that was pinned on her "So.. not our captain anymore.. mm well I am sure you will miss our practice drama soon" oh yes that drama was good to watch. Maybe there would be more.. or not.. but she wouldnt know.. unless Alice would tell her, but then again Alice wouldnt would she? She probably would! Selina being Head Girl and all! "Umm congrats on that.. badge" yeah the new one. Was it a good thing that he hadnt climbed the train or done anything else at the start of term? It was! or he may have been deprived of a cookie, mmm cookieeee.. nom nom nom.

Sir Nicholas had never missed an opening feast in his life and he wasn't about to start now. In his rush to get to the Great Hall the lion ghost chilled several students with water as he zoomed through them as opposed to beside them.
Slighty flustered and out of breath Sir Nicholas halted right next to the Head Girl. "Pleaseeeeeeeeeee tell me i haven't missed the speech." he demanded of the seventh year girl in a panic-stricken voice. If he had then he'd sink through the floor in embarrassment.
Regaining his breath he eyed the lions around him. "Good evening everyone and welcome to Gryffindor to those of you that have just been sorted into this fine house." Sir Nicholas greeted with big smiles in every direction.
He then saw their house ghost appear as if he had rushed out from somewhere "Hey Sir Nicholas, you seem like you have rushed here. Too busy doing something else and forgot the feast?" like having fun spooking a few firsties! Oo that would be fun to do! Oo if only he could spook some firsties.. *hint hint LEX!!*
