The Broomshed

The Broomshed is a place where the Hogwarts school brooms are stored when not being used by students participating in Flying Class or Quidditch. The shed is located one hundred yards from the Quidditch Pitch and appears to be on the verge of collapse to the untrained eye. Carefully open the door that miraculously hangs on rusted hinges and inside you'll find the broomsticks hanging from the ceiling, glass cauldrons and leaning up against the walls. Select your broomstick with care before heading out to class and return it to it's resting place when class is over. At the center of the room is a large wooden table surrounded by benches - take care not to get any splinters if you decide to take a seat while tuning up your broom!

Basic Broomshed Rules:
1. RP your character getting a broom for class/returning a broom/caring for a broom, etc. Please be aware that there are no Firebolts in the shed nor can you find the 'old' Quidditch Equipment Trunk in this shed.
2. Broomsticks in here are for flying practice, Flying Class, and Quidditch uses only. If your character sneaks in to take a broom for a flight by the lake or on other areas of school grounds, expect a loss of House Points and/or Detention. This rule also applies to playing with Quidditch equipment on school grounds or in the Castle itself. Remember - Quidditch and Flying only happens in the Practice Pitch thread and/or Flying Lesson threads.
3. The Broomshed is not a place for public displays of affection (PDA) - violators will lose House Points and gain a date in the Dungeons (aka, Detention).
4. Observe SS Board Rules at all times.
5. Have fun!

*shifty*

Stupid, that's what it was! Who one earth locked their office with magic and password protection?! UGH!!!!

It's like no one wanted to make things simply for the 11 year old. How in Merlin's beard was she supposed to eat that bloody hat when it was locked away in the Headmistress' office? How? Quite simple, by using another means of entrance, which brought her here.

Lex had read the rules and stuff governing the brooms and knew for a fact that no Professor in their right mind would have handed her a broom if she told them the purpose of it. This wasn't even one of those cases where she could have lied about the reason for the use because Quidditch hadn't started yet and they weren't scheduled for flying class just yet. SIGH.

Sneaking over to the broom shed she threw her hand on the door but quickly drew back when she saw just how run down the place was. This suddenly didn't seem like all that good an idea. What if the shed collapsed while she was inside and crushed her--the hat wasn't worth it!!!

Snap out of it Lex! Others have used this shed and it's still here, now we have a broom to swipe and a hat to eat!

She nodded with some new found determination, took a deep breath then threw the door open. For a moment she cringed, thinking that it would for sure crush her but when she didn't hear a crashing sound she sighed in relief and hurried inside. There were so many brooms! In the dim light she could hardly make out the differences in the brooms and well...she didn't have time to waste because being caught was not an option!

Snatching one she bolted from the shed, slamming the rickety door behind her. If it collapsed that wouldn't be her problem because she was no longer within range. Very stealthily, as stealthily as an 11 year old could be, she left the field and headed for the side of the school that had Headmistress Truebridge's office.

siriusly_demented 09-15-2012 07:19 PM

isabel looked around he shed it was depressing.she opened the door peeked inside .when she thought she had taken in enough she closed back the door and left

DaniDiNardo 09-17-2012 03:18 AM

Lex isn't in the least bit pleased XD

Trod. Trod. Trod.

Every step took her closer to her wand..or at least...that's what she had to tell herself in order for her to drag herself over to a broken down death trap. Obviously the Headmistress was trying to get her killed. She realized that the trophy room wouldn't do the trick and decided to invent another night of detention so she could bring her here instead. SIGH. Adults.

This time Felix chose to stay up in the common room; he actually began screeching and flailing when she mentioned where she was taking him. Such a determined devil he was too, she ended up having to leave without him.

Making her way over to the shed she found that a big SCOWL had taken residence on her face...

The lady wasn't here yet. She wanted her wand. Sinking to the floor she took a seat, back leaning against the wall and waited. This would be over soon enough anyway; she would just get her as worked up as the night before then have her kick her out again--but this time, not without her wand.

Vindictus trudged down the icy pathway to the old broomshed and entered. "Blimey! It's freezing in here!" he exclaimed as he walked over to the fireplace and immediately lit a fire. As the fire roared to life, he began to place illumination enchantments about the interior of the shed so that everyone could see what they were doing and not trip over anything. "Now to see if anyone dares to brave the cold to attend this lesson," he said to himself as he took a seat next to the fire.

Somnium 10-28-2012 09:17 PM

Taylor came down the path to the old broomshed. "Good day, Professor." She beamed at him and held out a themos of hot cocoa, "I made you some hot cocoa."

DaniDiNardo 10-28-2012 09:24 PM

FLYING!!!

Alexa didn't care what the weather looked like; heck it could have been raining fire she'd still trudge over to the Quidditch Pitch...or as this case seemed to be, the broom shed just so she could have a chance at flying. As she made her way over she tried gripping more firmly to her coat, reminding herself the whole time that it would be worth it all in the end.

At one point she found herself questioning why they'd need a stupid textbook and some writing equipment to fly a broom but the answers she was coming up with weren't very happy ones so she decided not to think about it altogether. There was no way they were gonna waste this class reading. No. The Professor would never allow it!--Would he?!?!?

Pushing this thought to the back of her mind she entered the broom shed and found the Professor already there. "Hello Professor...getting awfully comfortable, aren't you...? I'm sorry but ...I mean...we're not gonna be in here for much longer...right?" She stared at him with big hopeful eyes, her lips setting to pout if the answer wasn't what she wanted to hear. Half the reason she liked this class was because she didn't have to learn! Don't ruin that now!!

Lissy Longbottom 10-28-2012 09:54 PM

Alex hadn't had time to try out for Quidditch this year, but he really did love it. It wasn't nearly as scary as he thought it was, and it turns out he was really good at being Keeper! Anna was super proud of him for that. He was so happy to get a chance to fly and play some Quidditch again, even if it wasn't a real match. He was ready to go!

"Hello Professor," Alex said with a smile as he greeted Vindictus. He rubbed his hands together and settled next to the fire. FINALLY a professor with some SENSE to keep them all warm!!

feeheeheeny 10-28-2012 09:55 PM

A flying lesson inside the broomshed? That was weird, but... certainly Vindictus had a reason, right? He hadn't completely fallen off his rocker. Regardless of what they were going to do and despite the cold, Max wanted to be there. Hopefully Emmaleigh would brave the cold, too, so he could help her further her developing flying skills.

Stepping into the broomshed, Max pulled his hat off his head and pocketed it, letting the interior warmth from the fire embrace him. "Hi, professor," the seventh year greeted through slightly chattering teeth as he moved toward the fire to continue to warm himself up from the long walk. He took a seat near his head of house, who seemed to have the same idea. The heat was perfect. "How are you doing today?"

demented_death_eater 10-28-2012 09:59 PM

"Thank you for the hot cocoa, Taylor," Vindictus replied as he accepted the warm drink. But before he could take a sip, a Gryffindor entered the shed and bombarded him with two nonsensical questions.

"Ah, Alexa. Are you aware that it's bad manners to question a professor in that manner?" he asked and took a sip of the hot cocoa. "Now, I could be rather mean and take points away from Gryffindor, or I could ignore the fact that you were rather rude and hope that your attitude changes during the course of the lesson. Hmm. Decisions, decisions. To take points or not to take points, that is the question."

Two more students entered the broomshed.

"Welcome, Alex and Max! Please have a seat near the fire. Sitting in the back of the shed during this type of weather isn't smart."

Emzily 10-28-2012 10:02 PM

Theo arrived, kitted out in a heafty coat, scarf AND hat. He bustled into the broomshed with his eyebrows pressed together. Flying was kinda the last thing he wanted to do right now, so maybe a theory lesson would be good. This WOULD be a theory lesson, right? He brought his quill and stuff....

There weren't many people here, meaning, his fellow team had yet to arrive, so he let out a grumble at all the other students present so far. They weren't worth his hellos, particularly that keeper from the Ravenclaw team. Yea, we see you, mister.

"Hi, professor Vindictus." He sat near to the fire, but still kept his coat on. Hypothermia was a no-no, thank you very much.

TakemetotheBurrow 10-28-2012 10:08 PM

Max and Theo

Ella Bishop was FREEZING to death...okay not to death but still. It was FAR too cold to be going outdoors. Unfortunately for Ella, her need to attend any and all flying lessons far outweighed her need to stay warm and cozy so here she was, trudging down to the broomshed and trying not to turn into a Popsicle.

The third year stepped inside and immediately felt warmth from a fire, which made her smile. Yup, that was definitely a good sign. "Hello Professor." She said, giving the man a small smile before scanning the room. She spotted Max and BEAMED at her Hogwarts bro, giving him a small wave. The fourteen year old then headed over to sit by Theo who had a good spot by the fire. Nice thinking, Theoman. She plopped down beside him and gave him a small smile. "Hey, you don't think anyone's ever froze to death during a lesson, do you?" Just asking...

That...that didn't really answer her question...O__O

But...

"I'm sorry Professor, I didn't mean to be rude." She just wanted to know if walking all the way over here in the cold was worth it. So far she was getting the impression that it wasn't. "You can ignore me," She volunteered rather hastily when she heard him musing about. Most Professors ignored half of what she said anyway so he wouldn't have been much different and for once that would have been a good thing.

In her short time there she had already cost Gryffindor enough points. Not wanting him to have any reason to lean more on the taking points side she quickly took the first available place she could find by the fire and gave a diligent look. See? She could be good.

demented_death_eater 10-28-2012 10:22 PM

"Apology accepted, Alex," answered Vindictus. "Is everyone excited about today's lesson on Quidditch?" Hopefully a few more students would brave the elements for the lesson.

Somnium 10-28-2012 10:33 PM

Taylor smiled at the professor, "Your welcome." She stepped back then glanced at Alexa. Tay thought Alexa was lucky that Professor Vindictus didnt take any points away. Taylor nodded at the professor and replied to his question to the class with, "Always am, sir." Tay motioned for her young lion friend to come with her.

demented_death_eater 10-28-2012 10:40 PM

Lesson starting!

"Everyone, please open your books to page 31," Vindictus instructed and he took another sip of hot cocoa.

Lex breathed a small sigh of relief when she heard that her apology had been accepted. Good. One less reason for Kurumi or Selina to kill her; Merlin knew they already had plenty!

She slumped back a bit waiting for him to address the class and when he did a wide smile spread across her face. "I am!!!" She said enthusiastically, the previous encounter already forgotten. What could she say? She wasn't one to dwell on the past when the future was finally starting to sound so pleasant. "I can't wait!" She was still under the illusion that nothing could ruin this class. Nothing.

Except that.

SIGH. -__-

Quite reluctantly she reached over and picked up her text that she had long ago thrown down next to her on the floor; it was only a book afterall. Her fingers drifted from page to page until she got to the right one. Now to wait. Sigh AGAIN.

Somnium 10-28-2012 10:48 PM

Taylor smiled at the professor then flipped to page 31 in her text book. She glanced up at the professor then to Alexa. How the heck are we friends? Tay sighed.

TakemetotheBurrow 10-28-2012 10:51 PM

Ella smiled, sitting up a little straighter and opening up her book to page 31. She eyed Professor Vindictus sipping on hot chocolate and raised her eyebrows a bit. She totally wanted hot chocolate right now. Meh.

Deezerz 10-28-2012 10:52 PM

Kennedy was sat near the fire, enjoying the warmth it radiated. He had somehow lost forgotten where he placed his gloves so he had to make it to the broomshed with cold hands. Thank Merlin he had spotted an open seat by the fireplace. There was no way he'd be sitting at the back where it was cold.

After warming up a bit the lesson began and did as instructed. He turned to page 31 and skimmed the page...

Ringo 10-28-2012 11:02 PM

Ronnie entered the broomshed right when the professor was telling everyone to open up their books. So she wasn't too late...she had slipped and fell about five times on her way here. Merlin, she was so clmusy...

She took a seat and dug through her bag until she found her book. She pulled it out and flipped through it until she got to page 31. That was the page they were supposed to open up to, right? ...she was pretty sure...she glanced at the person's book who sat next to, and sighed with relief. So it was 31. Good, good.

She set the book down on her lap and took off her scarf and mittens, putting them in her book bag. She then went back to her book, eyeing the page.

demented_death_eater 10-28-2012 11:04 PM

"Today's lesson is going to focus on professional Quidditch," began Professor Vindictus. "I know that many dream of playing for a professional team and leading them to victory, but there is more to it than that. Let's begin with the League itself."

"In what year was the League established, and how many teams are there in it today?" he asked.

feeheeheeny 10-28-2012 11:12 PM

Of course.

Something Max was expected to know an abnormal amount about: professional Quidditch. Letting out a barely audible sigh, the seventh year's hand went up, his other holding his book open in his lap. "The League was established in 1674, professor, and... there were thirteen teams selected to join the League, the ones that were the best - all others in, erm, Britain and Ireland were requested to break apart."

Somnium 10-28-2012 11:13 PM

Taylor bit her lip and raised her hand, "Professor the Leaque was established in the year 1674 and it has 13 teams today... if i aint mistaken." She grimaced at the thought that she might be wrong... it would be very embarassing.

TakemetotheBurrow 10-28-2012 11:15 PM

Playing Professional Quidditch would just be...well it would be...amazing. And sure, Ella liked to think that she could be that good someday, but it was a big dream and she wasn't sure she wanted to get her hopes up or anything. Not yet at least.

The League...would be the British and Irish League, yeah? Or at least that's what Ella assumed Vindictus was talking about. "Professor, it as established in 1674" BEAM. Was Vindictus around back then too? Ells wouldn't have been surprised if he was. "And there are 13 teams that play, and they're the best of the best."

Now how in Merlin's beard was she supposed to know the answer to that? Yeah she liked Quidditch but not enough to want to be a professional player one day and certainly not enough to know these trivial things.

Her eyes fell to the page again and something caught her eye.

Oh.

She totally knew the answer was right there the whole time or well...that was the answer right? It was a date on the page so something must have occurred during that time so it was possible it might have been the answer. She would have read to make sure but well...reading was all...all bleh..."1674?" She asked said after raising her hand. As for the other one she saw a random number on the page. Meh. Good enough. "And there are...13 teams..?" Right?

"Excellent! Two points each to Max, Taylor, Ella and Alexa for their correct responses," replied Vindictus and he took a sip of hot cocoa before continuing.

"Out of the thirteen teams, which one is the oldest and in what year was it founded?"

feeheeheeny 10-28-2012 11:30 PM

With a smile at his earning of points, Max's hand went back up at the next question. That was easy. "Puddlemere United is the oldest, having been formed in... 1163." Right? Something like that. He peeked down at his book just to be sure and gave a nod. That was standard Quidditch knowledge, really, even though he didn't care much for Puddlemere one bit.

He'd been to a few of their matches. But his family weren't very big on them for whatever reason.

TakemetotheBurrow 10-28-2012 11:32 PM

Ella BEAMED. Two points? That was brilliant news. Hufflepuff could totally use the points. Grin. Oh...and the oldest team in the league? Ella knew this as well. Bounce. Bounce. Bounce...shiver.

"Professor, the oldest team is Puddlemere United and they were founded in 1163." Nod. Look at her being all Quidditch smart and such. Grin.

DaniDiNardo 10-28-2012 11:35 PM

And here we go again, back to the textbook. Sure she heard some people saying an answer that might possibly have been right but you know...she couldn't be too sure because she wasn't about to spout rubbish just 'cause everyone else was. Nope.

Ahem.

So ....scanning through she found what looked like it could have been the right answer--what'd ya know! It was what everyone else was saying. Now She could answer confidently. Once more she raised her hand. "The first team was formed in 1163 and they were..." She squinted a bit so she could see the print clearly, "Puddlemere United..."

Deezerz 10-28-2012 11:36 PM

Man, he wished he had a warm drink too. Anyway, they had a question to answer. Kennedy raised his hand and said, "It's Puddlemere United, who were founded in 1163."

This reminded him of his godfather who was an ex-professional Quidditch player...who owned a sweet shop in Diagon Alley. He was still cool though, Kennedy really admired him.

Somnium 10-28-2012 11:36 PM

Tay beamed as he said two points to her and the others. She raised her hand, "Professor the oldest team is the Puddlemere United... and it was made.... in... ummmmm...." She blinked and twisted a blonde curl that was loose, "I want to say 1163 but I may be mistaken..."

Lissy Longbottom 10-28-2012 11:38 PM

Alex raised his hand. "It's Puddlemere United, right Professor?" he said. "I think that they were founded in like...the 12th century, I think," he answered. He quickly flipped through his notes. "Ah, yes! 1123 was their founding year," he said with a smile.

Professional Quidditch Teams! GRIN GRIN GRIN.

Not many people knew this but that was what he was thinking about doing. Well, that was the only thing he had been thinking about doing in the future, actually. Yeah. And he did like Quidditch so... well... this lesson was immediately awesome.

At Vindictus's question, Alec grinned and raised his hand. Sure, people had already said the answer but... well... he was just a little too excited about this. GRIN. "Erm... Puddlemere United, Professor," he said, his eyes sparkling a bright blue, "And... and... they were formed in 1163!" That was a LONG time ago. O_O

Also... could they have some hot chocolate? You know, to help with the coldness of the broomshed?

sweetpinkpixie 10-28-2012 11:39 PM

Kurumi was here...listening...slightly shivering...but she was here.

And Professor Vinictus could thank Selina for the seventh year's attendance really - which also meant that the man got cookies as per usual. As class began and questions were asked, Kurumi held back and sort of just was there like a bump on a log due to her not really knowing too much. Quidditch announcing was one thing - easy enough to do research on who was playing and memorizing the rule book and reporting what she was seeing - but everything else...well... not so much.

OH! But She knew about professional Quidditch teams sort of! In fact the one being asked about now was the one Carter played for! Pu---

But someone had already answered with that one...so her hand was back down and she was sitting like a bump on a log.

Hum de dum.

2111jen 10-28-2012 11:53 PM

Jen was about to raise her hand to answer the question but, then realized, someone had already answered. So, she put her hand down and rubbed both her hands together. Jeez it was cold...

"Bravo! Two points each to Max, Alec, Kennedy, Taylor, Alex, Alexa, Ella, Aidan, and Theo," replied Vindictus.

"Can anyone name all thirteen teams? Those who answer correctly will earn five points!"

TakemetotheBurrow 10-29-2012 12:02 AM

Merlin's beard! More points? Ella couldn't help but wonder if Vindictus was getting soft in his old age...or if he'd eaten some ice cream with gummy worms recently. Either option would definitely explain his awesome mood right now. In any case, Ella had some teams to name. Hmmm...

"Professor these's...Ballycastle Bats, um Puddlemere United, Montrose Magpies, uh... the Tutshill Tornados, Kenmare Kestrals, Pride of Portree, Appleby Arrows, Caerphilly Catapults, ...the Holyhead Harpies" BEAM "The Wimbourne Wasps, Chudley Cannons, Wigtown Wanderers and..." O___O Oh merlin's beard! What was the last team? Think Ella, think! Um....DING! "The Falmouth Falcons!"

Somnium 10-29-2012 12:05 AM

Taylor smiled and raised her hand, "Professor, they are Puddlemere United, Appleby Arrows, Caerphilly Catapults, Falmouth Falcons, Holyhead Harpies Kenmare Kestrels, Montrose Magpies, Pride of Portree, Tutshill Tornados, Wigtown Wanderers, Chudley Cannons, Wimbourne Wasps, and Ballycastle Bats." She took a breath and looked at him, blushing.

Holmesian Feline 10-29-2012 12:05 AM

Now he played quidditch and knew many things about it Gideon surely wasn't an expert. That role remained with Selina, at least in their relationship. So as Professor Vindictus was shooting questions about the professional aspect of the sport (another area of expertise for the quidditch hopeful) and its history the seventh year was unsure of answers. At least to the extent that he hesitated and his classmates answered first. With the latest inquiry posted before them...naming ALL 13 teams, the prefect was sure to remain quiet.

A handful...maybe...but not all of them.

HaRoHeGiNeLu 10-29-2012 12:07 AM

FIVE POINTS!

And to think, Aidan was excited that one time he LOST five points. Of course, he knew better now. And five points seemed like a LOT. And you know what? He was positive he could do this. Thirteen teams was no biggy, right?

"Puddlemere United," because they all just said that, "Pride of Portree," because that was who his sister played for, "Appleby Arrows, Holyhead Harpies, Montrose Magpies, Wimbourne Wasps, Ballycastle Bats" all teams he could associate with people thanks to his sister. So that was...seven, according to his fingers. "Falmouth Falcons....Tutshill Tornados. Wigtown Wanderers. Caerphilly Catapults..."

The boy paused, trying to think of the others. "....Chudley Cannons....and.....and...."

He should have done these in some order so he could go back and account for them. Like...alphabetically or something. But....no. His fingers said he'd gone through twelve, but he wouldn't be getting the thirteenth.

Pout.

feeheeheeny 10-29-2012 12:08 AM

ALL thirteen? Well. All right. Max thought about this one for a long moment before raising a hand once more. This time, he used his other hand to count as he went. "The Appleby Arrows," he said first, feeling obligated to list his mother's team before the rest. "Erm... Puddlemere United," as they just mentioned, then, "Pride of Portree!" For Ellie. She would've probably been upset that he didn't say her team first. "The Chudley Cannons, the Montrose Magpies, the Kenmare Kestrals..." Max was just listing whichever came to mind first now. "The Ballycastle Bats, the Wimbourne Wasps-" he wrinkled his nose at that one, as they were the enemy of his mother's team, "-the, erm, Falmouth Falcons, Tutshill Tornadoes... the Catapults - of Caerphilly, that is, the... uh... Holyhead Harpies..."

There was a long pause as he realized how many he had counted on his fingers. That was twelve. Thirteen... thirteen. He squeezed his eyes shut, trying to think of his mother's Quidditch schedule at home in the past... who else had she played?

And then he knew.

"And the Wigtown Wanderers," he said finally. Right? He hadn't said any twice?

5 Points?!?!

Hearing that made Lex scramble for the words on her page. She scowled when she realized that the page that had been helping her out didn't have the answers. Seriously? At a time like this...? -__-

With a sigh of impatience she began skimming the pages of the book. Surely one of these pages had the answer. It had to! This was a Quidditch history book for merlin's sake!!! Skip. Skip. Skip. Each skip made her more agitated until at last she came to a page with a list.

"Aha!" She was ready to answer. "Professor you have: Montrose Magpies, Appleby Arrows, Wimbourne Wasps, Puddlemere United, Falmouth Falcons, Tutshill Tornados, Wigtown Wanderers, Chudley Cannons, Kenmare Kestrals, Pride of Portree, Caerphilly Catapults, Ballycastle Bats and..."

...

O___O

Oh no....this was the page she had torn a piece of during the summer to write down a phone number for her father...oh no, oh no, oh no. Alright, think Lex, you must know the answer. What team didn't she remember calling...? Let's see, there was the Magpies...the Tornadoes...the Harpies--Oh! "The Holyhead Harpies!"

Deezerz 10-29-2012 12:18 AM

Woot! Points! Not as many as he'd like, but points would be points. At the next question, Kennedy raised his hand once more. "They are: Chudley Cannons Appleby Arrows, Montrose Magpies..." Hmm... " Holyhead Harpies, Puddlemere United, Wigtown Wanderers, Tutshill Tornados, Caerphilly Catapults,..." breath, "...Wimbourne Wasps, Kenmare Kestrels, Pride of Portree, Ballycastle Bats...and...."

Of course, he couldn't forget his godfather's team, "Falmouth Falcons." He got it, right? He got the five points?

Lissy Longbottom 10-29-2012 12:20 AM

OH WOW. All thirteen of them?? That was going to be a challenge, but Alex was up for it. He raised his hand and bit his lip. "Well, um, obviously there is Puddlemere United," he said. "Then the Ballycastle Bats, the Chudley Canons, Appleby Arrows...umm, the Tornados are a team too right? So there's them, that makes what...5? Let's see..." Gosh, this was really hard. "OH! Obviously the Holyhead Harpies, they're the all girls team..." How could he have forgotten THEM? Seriously?? "Umm, the Wimbourne Wasps are a team, then the Montrose Magpies," What kind of mascot was a magpie?? "Then, uhh...the Falmouth Falcons, Kenmare Kestrals, they're in Ireland, andddddd....the Wigtown Wanders! Yes, that's one," He knew he was still missing a few, though. "Umm, umm...I know this, umm...OH! Pride of Portree! Then, there's umm...the Catepillars! They're from Caerphilly, I think," he said. He was trying to keep track of them as he listed them, but had no idea if he actually got all thirteen. So he was just going to stick to these!

"Five points each to Ella, Taylor, Max, Alexa, Kennedy and Alex," announced Vindictus. "Aidan, you forgot the Kenmare Kestrals and will only receive 4 points." He sat the thermos of hot cocoa down and looked thoughtfully at the class.

"Not everyone is fortunate enough to play in the League, but there are opportunities on other continents. What are some other professional teams you've heard about? Don't be afraid to use your textbook if you're not sure, but only one team per person and no repeated answers. If someone has mentioned your team, see if you can provide another one instead."

Somnium 10-29-2012 12:55 AM

Taylor raised her hand, "Professor would the Moose Jaw Meteorites count? She looked at him and tilted her head. It was a Candian team so she wasnt too sure.

HaRoHeGiNeLu 10-29-2012 12:58 AM

"They cheated!" Aidan protested, pointing his finger accusingly at no one in particular. But he definitely saw some peeking at their books. HMPH.

International teams? "Bigonville Bombers," he mumbled grumpily. Why couldn't that be worth five points, too?

TakemetotheBurrow 10-29-2012 01:02 AM

Professor Vindictus was totally teasing them with the hot chocolate. Not cool, bro. Especially when it was this cold. At least he was giving out points like it was Christmas or something, that was quite nice. Ella gave him one of her grins before focusing on the next question he asked. Hmm...other teams she'd heard of...

Oh! That little dude was spunky, yeah? Ella just kind of smiled to herself, looking down. She could appreciate a little sass as she had been quite sassy when she was younger. And besides, Quidditch made people passionate. It just did...

"Professor, I've heard of the Quiberon Quafflepunchers...they're a French team I believe."

feeheeheeny 10-29-2012 01:07 AM

Max looked from Vindictus to Aidan. He gave a small chuckle. He was far more dramatic than his sister, wasn't he? He frowned at him upon comparing the two before turning back to the question at hand. Other professional teams? Well, yeah... of course. Max rose a hand and offered, "The Woollongong Warriors are in the Australian League." They had the best location name, and the Quafflepunchers had the best overall name for sure.

Lissy Longbottom 10-29-2012 01:09 AM

Alex eyed the hot cocoa that Vindictus had and sighed. No fair, he should share--they were all freezing too! Maybe if he answered this question right...

He raised his hand. "There's the Heidelberg Harriers," he said. "They're a German team. Heidelberg is actually a very quaint little city," he added with a smile.

oh its Erik ok 10-29-2012 01:14 AM

Nigel wanted some hot cocoa. He was thinking about getting some once the class was over but now to think about a favorite quiddtich team since he did not have one.

"Professor There is the Thundelarra Thunderers. They're from Australia they have dominated the Australian Quidditch League."

Nigel just like the name and the way thunder is used twice.

Deezerz 10-29-2012 01:15 AM

Kennedy almost sent a smug grin at the Ravenclaw kid. He didn't cheat, he's only read the book about five hundred times is all, hehe.

Once again, his hand shot into the air and he said, "The Fitchburg Finches from the United States League." And that one he's actually gone to see play back in the States.

DaniDiNardo 10-29-2012 01:19 AM

See? So it was okay to be using the textbook. Good because it was the only way she'd know the answers, though the book was clearly not trustworthy if it was missing a piece of one of it's pages. Still, it would have to do for now.

Skipping to the very next page she saw the list she was looking for. Her eyes scanned the list looking for a team that hadn't already been called out.

Hmmm....

When she thought she found on, her hand rose slowly. "You also have...the ...Gorodok Gargoyles and they're from Li...thua...nia...." However you wanted to pronounce that. The point was, they were a team too!

Cassirin 10-29-2012 01:45 AM

International teams, hmmm? Vivi was much more interested in the local teams, especially as her uncle owned one and so they often got box seats. Still... she was passingly familiar with teams further afield, and she finally raised her hand. "The Vratsa Vultures are Bulgarian. They're a good shot for Quidditch players who can't get signed here because a lot of talented young players get a start on that team. Plus they're actually pretty good... probably part of that pattern of taking long shots that pay off."

Holmesian Feline 10-29-2012 01:49 AM

Now they were onto international teams and Gideon tried to think of anyone specifically he could think of. Wait...what was that team he had seen on a visit to his grandparents. They were the home team from Portugal. The seventh year dove into his memory to pluck it out to give to Professor Vindictus as an answer. Bre--Bru---Braga! That was it. Gideon finally raised his hand before opening his mouth to speak.

"There is the Braga Broomfleet team from Portugal."

emjay 10-29-2012 02:11 AM

Growing up in Germany, Ethan was quite familiar with International Quidditch teams. The Ravenclaw raised his hand to answer with his favorite (for obvious reasons) team when he heard a Hufflepuff boy provide that answer first. And he called his hometown quaint? Ethan simply beamed at Alex, before turning his attention back to Professor V and the question.

Hand in the air again, Ethan said, "There's also the Tchamba Charmers. They're an African team.. in Togo, I believe, to be specific."

Yourenodaisy 10-29-2012 03:03 AM

Em fidgeted uncomfortably beside Max, thinking she would probably enjoy an actual flying lesson over the history of quidditch. She really didn't know anything about the sport, except for some of the more basic scoring things. Even with the book sitting open in her lap, she couldn't name the thirteen team in what ever league they were talking about. Flipping through her book, she raised her hand when she found a non league team. “The Gimbi Giant-Slayers?” she asked more than stated.

Anna Banana 10-29-2012 03:31 AM

Sierra blinked as another question was asked. Merlin! Why was the professor moving through this at the speed of light?! Meh. What did she care? The faster they went, the faster they could be dismissed. She was just slightly annoyed that it was getting to be difficult to catch up.

Not wanting to miss another question, she quickly raised her hand in the air. "There's the Tarapoto Tree-Skimmers from Peru," she said.

Kimothy 10-29-2012 09:15 AM

Quidditch Teams? Indeed a fantastic lesson to learn about.

Raising her hand, Kat answered. "Sweetwater All-stars," Then Kat added information. "In the year 1993, they beat the Quiberon Quafflepunchers after a match that lasted for five days." They sounded awesome for beating the Quafflepunchers in five days. Bloody tiring...

sweetpinkpixie 10-29-2012 09:17 AM

So...international Quidditch teams didn't count? Like...the ones that represented the country for the World Cup and stuff? Was that how it worked in the wizarding world? Kurumi really SHOULD know more about this considering she was going to need to be Selina's number one fan once she got recruited - which WOULD be happening. You didn't need to be a Seer for that.

While she had been completely silent for the previous one - 13 teams? Right...like she was going to know all 13 of those when she could hardly recall three - she DID know about one international team because her oldest brother was a rabid fan. So, hand up it was with a uncharacteristic smile on the Gryffindor's lips. "Toyohashi Tengu, from Toyohashi in Aichi Prefecture. They used to burn their broomsticks after losing a match."

MudInMyBlood 10-29-2012 02:40 PM

Considering Hannah had been quiet this entire time she thought that she would pipe up and get involved in the lesson. She actually liked Quidditch a lot and knew a fair amount of things about the sport.

"There's Luxembourgian National Quidditch team." That was so international.

Princesspower 10-29-2012 03:21 PM

"In what year was the League established, and how many teams are there in it today?" he asked.

Sarah knew that, she was book smart when it came to quidditch. Not a particularly naturally talanted quidditch, yet she did try hard.it was established in 1674 and formed of the 13 best teams in England and Ireland

Sarah put her hand up in the air and waited to be called on. Yet as her hand was up there, One by one everyone was taking all her answers. When she had finally remembered the Lithuanian team (some of her ansecters were from there, like about 2 centuries before) when some one else said it. Of course she knew the Vratsa vultures, but some one said that too! Finally she had find one that NO ONE else had said, which was like a miracle... Braga Broomfleet, she knew that one because someone once thought she was Portuguese and had asked her if she supported them... WHAT, SOME ONE HAD JUST SAID IT!

She looked again, a Polish team (one of her ancestors were from a place call Lomza or something in Poland, yet she was muggle) "Grodzisk Goblins" she said.

DecemberMoon 10-29-2012 10:39 PM

She wasn't entirely sure that she should have taken this lesson. She didn't know much about Quidditch, especially team names or score records. Anything she did know was from sitting with her father as he watched the games. She thought they were exciting and fun, sure, but she wasn't positive she'd want to actually play Quidditch ever. The real reason she was here was because of the brooms. She had gotten a taste for flying in her first flying lesson, and it was enough to make her sit through the sports jargon if it meant she could be in the air again. She kept quiet as the other students, who clearly had more love for the sport than she, answered the professor's questions. The lesson also posed as an opportunity to get to know her Head of House a little bit better. So far he seemed like a nice, easy going person. Eliza smiled to herself, glad she'd found another teacher who made her feel comfortable in class. I hope we get to fly soon, she thought. But if we actually start learning Quidditch, should I quit? The thought made her nervous. Sports weren't really her thing. I don't want to get hurt...but if I never put myself out of my comfort zone, I'll never learn anything new. She sighed and knew her parents would want her to at least try, so she sat and tried not to fidget in anticipation.

International teams.... Vickers naturally would think about those from the US, but having heard two of the Slytherin mention the teams he knew he started to rack his memory of those teams he's heard in passing over the years....

...ah now here was a team who's name, and mascot, stuck with him. Raising his hand he replied "Professor there is a New Zealand team called Moutohora Macaws, and their team mascot is a phoenix." A team named after a bird closely related to cockatoos like his own Dolly. Course he'll remember that.

hermygirl 10-30-2012 09:03 AM

When Spike had first started playing Quidditch at Hogwarts, he hadn't known anything about the UK teams - not alone any international ones. But five years on, and he regularly read a selection of the most popular Quidditch magazines - mainly because he had links with some of the people featured in them. Finn, Nia, Jacob, Ellie...

Anyways, there often features on International teams, so finally Spike had moved on from just the bubble of Hogwarts Quidditch and being quite knowledgeable about what went on in the rest of the world. And some names just stuck more than others. Like the Hammers. What was the relevance of a hammer to Quidditch?

"The Haileybury Hammers, Professor," Spike answered. "From Canada."

demented_death_eater 11-02-2012 03:18 AM

Sorry for the delay . . . grades were due >.<

Vindictus nodded as the students each shared the name of a professional team with the class. "Points to each of you who answered, but no one mentioned the one team that's dear to my heart," he replied and let out a dramatic sigh.

"For five fabulous house points, who can share with the class the name of my team and accolades of my glorious career?"

sweetpinkpixie 11-02-2012 03:24 AM

Kurumi's hand shot up seeing as she remembered this from the one homework assignment he had set a few terms ago...all about himself. "The Heidelburg Harriers." She didn't know anything more about the team, besides Professor Vindictus being on it for 22 years or so, so hopefully he wouldn't ask.

Anna Banana 11-02-2012 03:29 AM

Oh, Sierra knew this, but only because she was so into Quidditch and was seriously considering a career in it. ...but Vindictus, if this question didn't prove he had an ego bigger than the Quidditch pitch, what would? Ehh. Sierra guessed if she'd won all those awards and been on a pro team, she'd boast about it, too. Self pride, for the win.

"You played for the Heidelburg Harriers," she said, raising her hand, "and you have five Quidditch World Cup appearances for England." He'd asked for accolades, as well, right?

feeheeheeny 11-02-2012 03:38 AM

Ha. That was easy. Vindictus had been a role model to Max since his first year. Of COURSE he knew the man's history. His hand went UP.

"You were a star Beater for the Heidelburg Harriers for twenty-two years, with a whopping total of FIVE Quidditch World Cup appearances for England!" He honestly wasn't even trying to suck up - he was impressed. "And," he said, though he wasn't sure that he needed to continue, "you even got to officiate two World Cups in recent years!"

Too cool, right?!

Cassirin 11-02-2012 03:42 AM

Oh! Oh, wait... Vivi knew that one! She nodded along with Max's fact before piping in, "Weren't you the Head Official at the 2070 and 2074 Quidditch World Cups? I went to the 2074 Cup, sir, and we sat in the box." As in... she'd probably thrown her popcorn in his hair all night.

Good times.

Somnium 11-02-2012 04:03 AM

Taylor looked at him and raised a hand, "You were a beater for the Heidelburg Harrier and made a few World Cup appearances." Admiration was in her eyes as she glanced at her professor/ head of house/ Quidditch ref. She, herself, was a reserve but played beater in the snakes vs eagles game, though she was nowhere near as amazing as Professor Vindictus.

"For five fabulous house points, who can share with the class the name of my team and accolades of my glorious career?"

No one mentioned the Harriers from earlier? Well heck now's the time to wax poetic about it... or at least the facts related to Vindy's career. Hand up in the air "Professor you played for the Heidelberg Harriers, and was the fiercest Beater the sport has ever known and was Head Official for the 2070 and 2074 Quidditch World Cups."

MudInMyBlood 11-02-2012 01:15 PM

Five points? Hannah liked points and she knew the way to that was laying it on thick. Ok yeah it was pretty cool that he played professional Quidditch and she couldn't blame him for being proud...it was pretty awesome and all.

"Professor you played for the Heidelberg Harriers and was the best beater anyone has ever seen." Too much? Possibly, but she really did admire him. The man is good at what he does. Anyone could see that!

Rosa Chispa Princessa 11-13-2012 10:03 PM

Oichi had liked quiddich since the moment she first saw her fitrst game at Hogwarts. Thus she had looked up all she could find on the sport and was suprised that in her search she learned about all the alcolades of her flying professor. Tus she knew gow to answer this question and smiled she raised hr hand d responded, "You played beater for the Heidelberg Harriers for 22 years and helped lead you're team to 5 Quiddich World Cups. I must say that is quite atounding, you are one incredible individual.".

demented_death_eater 11-14-2012 05:12 AM

Sorry for the delay . . . modem died. New one arrived today.

Vindictus nodded at those who answered correctly. "Five World Cup appearances for England," he noted rather proudly. "But there's one thing that professional Quidditch players have and the media fails to report on it. Any guesses?"

He leaned on one elbow and looked at the students in the shed.

Rosa Chispa Princessa 11-14-2012 05:36 AM

"Is it that the media does not mention that you and all other professional quidditch players past and present are part of the international association of quidditch. If thats not it then I really don't know cause thats the only thing I have heard of that is in common with all profesdional quidditch players.", Oichi responded with her hand raised high.

sweetpinkpixie 11-14-2012 07:38 AM

Professional Quidditch players.

Nope. Kurumi didn't have a clue about what they had that the media failed to report on - besides maybe their private lives or something. The dull aspects of their life that media would not be interested in hearing about. "Anything that would not make the tabloids and gossip columns?" Kurumi asked after raising her hand. "The aspects of their lives that make them seem...normal?"

Meh, it was a guess...and something that the media in the nonmagical world didn't really report on.

"Real lives? Families? Children?" Max raised a lazy hand and offered with a hint of sarcasm. He nor his brother had ever been mentioned in the tabloids, but he couldn't really complain about that, could he? The media only seemed to care about the complete lives of a select few star Quidditch players in the league. "Or... the inner drive, stamina, strength, and true love of the game required to play at that kind of level? 'Cause it's not all as easy as it looks with, y'know, the fame and glamour and all that stuff..."

Max didn't really think it was that glamourous at all.

Laura looked at the Professor and raised her hand. "Well Professor I would say they wouldn't talk about the reason they got into the game in the first place." Laura was sure they wouldn't bother about that, they would want all the juicy gossip.

DecemberMoon 11-15-2012 12:18 AM

Something they all have and no one reports on? A smirk crept onto her face, but she did not say her thought aloud. Gigantic egos maybe? It might not have been true, but she thought it was funny anyway. She never really payed attention to the media, so she really wasn't sure what they did report about them, let alone what they didn't.

DaniDiNardo 11-15-2012 12:33 AM

Oh no. A question that she couldn't find in the textbook.

Just how did he expect her to know the answer then?? Hmm? She'd have to think--not something she liked doing unless she was forced to do. Ahem. Time to get the brain flowing; something that would have been much easier if she was actually on a broom flying but you know...

"Uhhh...a secret stash of chocolate frogs that they don't like sharing..?" Now wouldn't that be quite the scandal!

Vindictus thought about two of the answers and nodded. "Well, Max and Kurumi are on to something," he replied after a few minutes of awkward silence. "A couple of points to both of them."

He now stood up and leaned against the fireplace as he gazed at the class. "Charisma. Presence. Indomitability. Resourcefulness. I could go on and on," Vindictus said as he flashed his trademark smile and winked.

"However, I know that all of you have much to do but before I dismiss the class and post the homework, there is something that I need your opinion on."

He pulled out his wand and blue sparks appeared as he gave it a few flicks in the air. As the blue sparks faded, four distinct images appeared.

"Which of these images should I tell my publisher to use on the back cover of my upcoming autobiography?"

He was serious.

Steelsheen 11-17-2012 05:14 AM

rotfl!

He wasnt quite sure where his Head of House was leading with this.. other than the fact that he was quite sure everything covered by the pernicious media, so this Ravenclaw stayed quiet and continued to scribble notes on his parchment. This has been a strange class that was for sure...

And now the Professor was asking their opinion on which photo he should use for his book? Taking a survey was he? Well heck if this was gonna be published and sitting on shelves and coffee tables throughout the Wizarding world it has to be one's best right? "Uhm... I'd go with the last one Professor."

DaniDiNardo 11-17-2012 05:16 AM

O___________O

She knew there was something wrong with the Professor and this just proved her point even more. Seriously, of all the questions to ask...what did this one have to do with flying or Quidditch on a whole...? Still, he asked for an opinion and she was good on giving those sooooo...

"I like the 2nd one the best...the 4th one makes you look old so don't use that one at all even if you don't pick the one I like." Shrug. "I suppose the 1st one's okay too but again I say #2." Nod.

Yeah...could they go now....?

sweetpinkpixie 11-17-2012 05:23 AM

Kurumi shot Max a quick glance followed with a smile before turning her attention back to Professor Vindictus who...was showing them pictures of himself? Oh, right, this man did have a self centered streak that could rival that of a Professor Lockhart if the textbooks were correct in describing his personality.

Trying not to look too amused, Kurumi leaned forward and tapped her lower lip with her index finger while she looked at each photo - her yearbook editor eye sort of going into overdrive at the moment. "Well, professor, my eye gets drawn to the first one where you are in all white and against a white background because it draws attention to your features and nothing else so you become the focus of the picture," she began while she continued to tap away at her lip. "The second, the one where you are seated, is nice...but it is a pose that is rather common for portraits and you probably want to stand out. The third I like because you are playing more with the angles of your face and not making eye contact which gives it a feeling of candidness and also create a little intrigue and interest as what you are looking at and what is making you look so pensive. The fourth is nice, but nothing particularly catches my attention about it."

Oh, right, he wanted them to say which one was their favorite. "Um...so if I had to pick...I would choose between the first and the third, but lean more towards the first if your book has a dark cover."

Cassirin 11-17-2012 05:39 AM

"The first, Prof V," Vivi offered. She totally understood the problems with over-exposure from the media and being constantly portrayed a certain way in spite of reality being completely to the contrary. Her mother dealt with it all the time, and so did the rest of the Branxtons to a lesser extent. "You look pensive and deep. Not just another smiley head, but like you have something to say."

Weasley174 11-17-2012 10:21 AM

Laura looked at the photo's the Professor had asked them to look at, she was trying to keep a straight face, Professor Dinosaur was so old, and who would want to read his autobiography, hers would be a lot better. "Professor I would go for the second one, it make you look smart."

Rosa Chispa Princessa 11-17-2012 11:17 AM

Oichi took note of the pressures of the media knowing all too well how they twist everything you say to get a decent story. It was one of the things she hated about being a great young gymnist as well as not getting to live her life as she pleased. But then the topic shifted in a rather interesting way.
Really? The professor is trusting students to pick the picture for his autobiography, cool! "Well, I like the 2nd one with you sitting and relaxing. It makes you look more approachable cause you look like an everday guy rather than a celebrity in a pose in my opinion.".

tiffyteddy 11-17-2012 01:19 PM

*blinked*

The lioness was all paying close attention in class when all of a sudden the professor pulled out four photos and now he was asking them to choose the best one for his biography picture? Smirking a bit, she moved her glance towards them and scanned through them one by one, looking as closely as possible, to make sure that she was not going to make a wrong choice after all.

"Professor I'd probably go for the third one,"she beamed and put her thumbs up. "I like the way you sit and the way that you don't look exactly into the camera."She has always liked pictures with this kind of style. She just thought that it was cool when people didn't really look straightly into the camera but actually all of them were not bad. Seriously.

Anna Banana 11-18-2012 04:09 AM

Oh, my Merlin. REALLY?!

What was Vindictus publishing an autobiography for? Surely that wouldn't be a required textbook next year, right? It wouldn't, would it? Sierra looked at all four pictures. She didn't really have a favorite, but...did it matter? This picture was meant to go on the back cover anyway. "Go with number two," she randomly said. "That one looks the most like you."

Well, they were all him, but...the second picture just looked more like him. Did that make sense?

emjay 11-18-2012 04:22 AM

Ready for the next question, Ethan looked curiously at his Head of House and then at the images floating in front of him. Oh.. he was writing an autobiography? Well, that was pretty interesting.. he was sure his mum would like to read that.

Contemplating each one, Ethan offered his opinion. "I like the second one best, Professor," he said. "I think it shows off your physique more," he continued with a nod. "I think it's a good idea to show your fans that you're still really athletic even if you don't play professionally any more." And even he would admit that Vindictus looked really good for his age.. because if Ethan looked that good at 60 or 70 or whatever age this guy was, you'd better believe he was going to show it off.

Lissy Longbottom 11-18-2012 04:57 AM

Alex blinked. Vindictus had finally lost his mind. He was always a little goofy but...really? Bringing his vanity in to the lesson? How unprofessional. He wanted to tell him to use none of them and go out and get a haircut before taking new headshots, but that wasn't going to be productive at all and would most likely get him detention.

"The first one," he said. That one looked most like it belonged on the back cover of a book.

Errrmm... choose an image of Vindictus? Well... this was awkward. Since when did Professor V think of his physical appearance. But well, maybe she should judge. The prob was... they're all the same in a way. It's cause Vindictus just has the same expression, but in a different angle... Mhmm.

"I'd choose number 2, Professor," the blonde finally chose. With a lot of deliberation, that is. "You look awesome in it." 'Tis a compliment, thank you.

DecemberMoon 11-19-2012 03:07 AM

A professor is showing us his photos? Now there's a new one. She looked at them carefully, thinking it was sort of...cute, that he wanted their opinion. At the same time, altogether strange though. How is this helping us learn anything? She shrugged to herself, glad to have a less burdening lesson for the day.

"I think I like the first one the best, Professor. It's a little bit edgy," she said evenly. The others were fine too, but for some reason she liked the first one the best. She wondered if anyone else thought this was as out of place as she did. Surely they thought it was a bit...distracted too.

TakemetotheBurrow 11-19-2012 03:15 AM

Ella tried really hard not to giggle when Professor Vindictus pulled out his glamour shots and asked for the classes opinion. One thing that couldn't be denied, the man might be ancient but he still had a lovely face. Blush. Not bad hair either, actually. Ella approved.

Looking at each photograph while stroking her imaginary beard, the third year debated in her head. She was torn really, between the first and third pictures, but she had a thing for black and white. "Professor? I'd go with number one. It screams 'Hello World' and besides, your hair looks lovely in that one." And she sat back and gave the man a small smile. Her job was done here, yeah?

Somnium 11-19-2012 03:17 AM

Taylor raised her hand, "Professor, I have to agree with Ella. You look best in the first picture." She smiled sweetly.

demented_death_eater 11-21-2012 07:53 PM

Class Dismissed!

"Five points to each of you who gave their honest opinion on the photographs," replied Vindictus. "Now off with all of you! There is no homework for this lesson, but the final will consist of two exciting parts - one written, the other practical hands-on flying. Keep your eyes posted on the bulletin boards for the announcement."
