for a ravenclaw this girl wasnntt very bright but hey, all is fun right?

"Sure those sound about right to me." she said writing them down

"So what does it say for under water or water?" she asked elliot

Elliot flipped to W, slightly tuning out Ariana for a second..school mode was ON. Yeah..this subject seemed to be a bit...odd. Like too many things relied on chance...hmm...

"For water it says...'To dream of clear water, foretells that you will joyfully realize prosperity and pleasure. If the water is muddy, you will be in danger and gloom will occupy Pleasure's seat. If you see it rise up in your house, denotes that you will struggle to resist evil, but unless you see it subside, you will succumb to dangerous influences. If you find yourself baling it out, but with feet growing wet, foreshadows trouble, sickness, and misery will work you a hard task, but you will forestall them by your watchfulness. The same may be applied to muddy water rising in vessels. To fall into muddy water, is a sign that you will make many bitter mistakes, and will suffer poignant grief therefrom. To drink muddy water, portends sickness, but drinking it clear and refreshing brings favorable consummation of fair hopes.' " She glanced back at Ariana..."Any of that fits? Maybe the clear water...or the rise in your house? Since the underwater place was..your house?"

What a load of cruddy guesswork this was. And rubbish. Whatever.

Minerva listened to what Jen was saying about her dream. "Well that sounds about right." she said as she rolled her eyes a bit. It's not that she thought her friends would, but she felt betrayed by a couple of them lately. Maybe that's what the dream was about her hurt feelings. Well at least it wasn't about Maxwell that's all she cared about. "Does it say anything else or just about the betrayal." Wondering if there might be more.

Hannah contined to ignore the new scary head lady. Mental that one is! Then Ethan came through with some help. What a good and handy claw he was. "Yes of course. Thanks!" Why was Hannah being so nice? This was so not her. He was nice and helpful though and he wasn't a puff so she pushed the thought to the back of her mind for now.

She flipped through her book until she found school teacher. "It says here that dreaming of a teacher means you enjoy learning and amusements in a quiet way." Hannah rolled her eyes. Not because it was a bad thing if Ethan wanted to be a teacher or anything, but the answer was kinda obvious. Further proof that Divination was rubbish. "That's not so bad!" Better than having an evil heart and all.

Ethan chuckled lightly at Hannah's Slytherin comment. "Oh, I don't think that would be so bad... my mum was a Slytherin, you know." He gave the girl a knowing nod. He wasn't so sure he bought into the whole Evil!Slytherin reputation though he'd still prefer to be in Ravenclaw now that he was here. Besides, this Hannah girl was a Snake as well... and she seemed charming enough.

The fifth year watched as his partner found one of the words and her frustration seemed to melt away. Ethan snickered at the analysis of the word and at Hannah's reaction. "That's kind of a lame interpretation, isn't it? If you dream of a teacher, you must like learning." The boy rolled his eyes as well. Could it get any more literal than that? He wasn't sure what he was expecting... some hidden meaning or something. That book was stupid.

"You're right though... much better than stomping all over someone's heart," he agreed with a chuckle. "So what's the next one say... leaves?" Would it be as ridiculous? Or maybe once he put all three interpretations together it would actually mean something...

"So Laura what was your dream?"

Nigel had just asked about Laura's dream when he hears the Headmistress yell. Nigel quickly turned his still wet self to see what she wanted.

Laura looked at Nigel and smiled. "Well my dream was about playing Tennis and then there was a model who was riding a train." Laura smiled, she had no idea if the model was her or was something else, maybe she was going to be a Tennis star and this way why she had dreamed about it, she hoped she would become famous it would be great.

For those of you who can't find a partner or need to get started b4 the time limit.

Callie noticed that a few students were still without partners and some were moving rather slowly. She didn't have time to go and partner them up herself or spoon-feed them along so she just flicked her wand at the board and clapped for their attention.

"Anyone who doesn't have a partner or you aren't on your second dream please look at the dream on the board." She pointed a manicured finger at the blackboard and continued. "I still need you to talk about at least three symbols."

SPOILER!!: The Dream
A small girl dreamed once that she was in an empty feild and as she was walking a ladder appeared out of no where, which she climbed. Suddenly it began to rain soaking her clothes and hair but she continued to climb. She finally came to a platform where a large eagle's nest lay. The girl then suddenly woke up.

She turned back to the Headmistress in order to find out what it was she needed.

OOC: Another rule change is in effect. I have had a few concerns expressed to me about their partner not being online in order to complete this assignment, they don't have a partner yet, or time restraints due to the database error mentioned above. This is a one time thing, lessons won't be modified in the future. I still need four posts in order to get the same points as others. Students who are already in their partners try your best to finish your posts with your partner, I will keep in mind all the things that happened when grading.

This made Ella smile. "Me too. I could always go for those! But...you're right, it is quite hot in here."So maybe Ella would've picked ice cream for a treat instead, if the choice were given.

The third year smiled at the first part of Eliza's interpretation, recalling that Caleb had been excited at first in her dream, wanting to fly so badly. Her mouth dropped open at the next part, though. O___O MEEP. But Caleb had been upset when Dino came out and messed up their lesson. Did that mean...Oh Merlin. "I..." Blink.Blink. "Yeah...yeah, I'm going to go with the good fortune one too." Because the other interpretation scared Ella to death. "I um...go on...please."

Eliza tried to look encouraging as she read the next symbol’s description. “Okay, next is…” Flip, flip, flip. “Flying.” She stared at the page in the book and looked up regretfully. “It’s a long one.” She looked back down, and up again. “I mean l-o-n-g.” She took a deep breath and read as quickly as she could. They had to hurry and finish before class was over! “I’m going to skim, okay? Okay, flying high is about marital calamities - but you’re not married (giggle) so… Flying low, almost to the ground is about sickness and uneasiness that the dreamer will recover from. Well that’s good!”

She followed the text with her finger until she found the next description that matched Ella’s dream, “To fly over vegetation means you’ll be temporarily embarrassed but then you will prosper. Or maybe that means your brother will?” She continued “To fall while flying signifies your downfall. So um… either you or your brother are going to overcome sickness and embarrassment…but then you’ll have a downfall. That seems to contradict itself.” She skewed her face up and started finding the next symbol from the dream.

...BAM! The Headmistress barged into their class. Louisa spun half-way on her chair toward the red-head woman.

Everyone started explaining to her so the Ravenclaw kept quiet and turned her attention back to Vickers and his notes. She pulled the notes closer to her and re-read the things he just said out loud. "I didn't expect it to be a happy interpretation." she consoled herself as she sulked, "It just disappears suddenly. Like moving from one scene to another without making any sense." Her eyes were focused on the parchment in the boy's hand even if she couldn't read anything from where she sat. "Let's just assume it's that bloody Apparecium article." SIGH. "Running. I was running from danger. Alone." Go.

The Aparecium article. Yup that can definitely qualify as the salacious scandal bit. Bits. Given that that wasnt the first time Louisa's been covered as such.

Running... she described how she was running "According to this 'Running alone, indicates that you will outstrip your friends in the race for wealth, and you will occupy a higher place in social life.' Well now thats not so bad is it?" he murmured as he glanced at Louisa momentarily before continuing reading "....If you run from danger, you will be threatened with losses, and you will despair of adjusting matters agreeably.'" He grimaced. And he thought running from danger can only mean a good thing. Beats just staying put and letting danger trample all over you right?

Hannah's eyes frosted over a bit when he said that it wouldn't be that bad. Sure Hannah was just trying to making light of a situation but Slytherin was clearly the best house ever. She managed to maintain her composure before she was able to give anything away. His mother was a Slytherin? "I'm sure your mother is a lovely lady." That by far was the best thing about the claw so far. It seemed like he came from a good family. Ok, ok she was supposed to be studying symbols not Ethan. She shook her head a tiny bit as if to clear it.

Ha! So she wasn't the only one that felt that way. "Totally lame!" She wondered who wrote this book. Hannah wasn't above stomping all over somebodys heart if she needed to. Of course she kept this little thought to herself.

"Right leaves..." she started flipping her book some more to find out what that meant. It better have a better meaning than the whole teacher thing. Aha! She had found it. Hannah let out a huge snort! She was sure that Ethan thought she had just lost her mind or something. "I'm sorry." she choked out trying to control herself. "Apparently dreaming of leaves denotes happiness and wonderful improvement in your business." Really. So what kind of business is Ethan involved in hmm? "But that's not the best part. Too bad you are not a woman because apparently if they dream of green leaves then they are destined to marry a wealthy and prepossessing husband and come into legacy." Snort. Then she read the part about the whole wilted thing.

"These plant/leave things weren't wilted were they?" No surely not. She kind of wished that she had not even asked. It doesn't matter if he did dream of them being wilted because this whole lesson was a waste of everyones time. "So are you ready for my dream?" because Hannah wasn't ready to be put in the spot light.

Hmm.. That was a interesting dream. Maybe Laura liked Tennis. Or she wanted to be a model. She was pretty enough to be one. Not that Nigel would ever say that out loud to her. He looked through the dream dictionary and could not find anything about tennis. So he decided to look for train since it also started with t.

"Okay, To see a train of cars moving in your dreams mean you will have to make a journey eventually. So maybe you will be traveling to tennis tournaments. But to be on a train and it looks to be moving smoothly with no track, means that you will be much worried over some affair which will make you money. So maybe you will be worried about winning the tennis tournament?"

Nigel did not know. But maybe Laura knew.

Louisa gave an exaggerated sigh and moved on to the next indications. Hair. "Hair. He cut a lot of it, and I think it is close to the scalp." She mentioned the words the book indicated. "And the man." Louisa frowned, her hand rubbing her temples trying hard to remember and not get anxious. "H-he was like.. uhh.. I think I see a different version of him in my dreams. Darker, less humane more monstrous." No one was allowed to know that so she had to lower her voice even more.

Now it was his time to work with those extra information to come up with something not-so-morbid. It was mission impossible so he didn't really have to come up with something too reassuring. His presence and holding her hand at times were enough. [/sappyfeels]

After waiting a bit, she stood up and grabbed her parchment and quill from the table. "Your turn. Dream me a dream, please." She gave a half-hearted smile and gestured dramatically at the chairs.

Ethan shrugged. "Well, she does pride herself on being an upstanding witch." Merlin, that was the understatement of the decade... but the lesson wasn't really about his family. Time to get back to work. Hopefully they could finish before they were interrupted by another flailing house elf.

Completely at ease now that the interpretations seemed to border on absurd, Ethan leaned back with an amused expression on his face as he listened to the next symbol meaning. He could not help but laugh as Hannah seemed to find whatever was in that book so hilarious that she snorted. Haha. He really could not take this seriously anymore. "Well that's good to know, I guess," he said about the first part, failing to stifle a snicker. "If only I had a business..." What was up with this book anyway? And then she read on. Ethan just stared at her for a moment before laughing again. "I'm pretty sure the leaves were green... but I don't think I want a wealthy husband." The wealthy part sounded good, but the husband... um, no. "I think this book is pretty useless." He had lost most of what little faith he had in the subject, because, honestly, how ridiculous was his prediction? And that pretty much made this class pointless.

Shaking his head out of pure disbelief, he jotted down the things Hannah had interpreted, mostly because he thought Elwood would ask.
SPOILER!!: notes
  • Children - bring grief to a loving heart
  • Teacher - enjoy learning
  • Leaves - Prosperous business

Looking up, he shook his head. "No I don't think any of them were wilted..." Reaching across Hannah's desk for her book, he nodded. "Ready when you are."

No unicorn? Seriously?! "That's stupid," she said simply, her tone annoyed. Stupid book! No...unicorns were not like fish..unless she was talking about in the context of her dream..in which case they were kind of like fish. but Elliot's thought process was a bit different..SHE would have looked up sea horses...if they even had that..unicorns were kind of like horses, right?

SIIIIIGH

She scribbled down some things as Ariana spoke...but the last part, Elliot raised her eyes to meet Ariana's....her mouth curved..and she began to laugh hysterically. Why she found that so funny, she didn't know! BUt she did...HEHHEHEHEEE! Was Rich listening over theeeere?! She glanced at him before turning back to Ariana..'How perfectly...it goes with your life, Ariana.." she said, a bit sarcastically...

Elliot rolled her eyes, though still chuckling, and wrote down that last bit...Merlin's beard...what was wrong with Divination!?!

With a slight shake of her head, she flipped to the F's. Frogs. Hmm.."To dream of catching frogs, denotes carelessness in watching after your health, which may cause no little distress among those of your family. To see frogs in the grass, denotes that you will have a pleasant and even-tempered friend as your confidant and counselor. To see a bullfrog, denotes, for a woman, marriage with a wealthy widower, but there will be children with him to be cared for. To see frogs in low marshy places, foretells trouble, but you will overcome it by the kindness of others. To dream of eating frogs, signifies fleeting joys and very little gain from associating with some people. To hear frogs, portends that you will go on a visit to friends, but it will in the end prove fruitless of good."
she read aloud..eehh. "I think the one with the frogs in the marshy area..since you guys WERE underwater...or maybe Elliot just wanted Ariana to have a bad fortune! Haha! "That has to be it," she pushed, shooting her a slight look.

She went back to her bag and pulled out a piece of parchment and a quill. Dipping the quill in ink, she wrote.

Ladder - In the dream, a small ladder appeared out of nowhere, and the small girl climbed it. To climb a ladder means to gain something, prosper, or climb to new heights. New heights, as in goal-achieving or at least getting closer to your goals. I think this means that the small girl may be involved in something like making a Quidditch team or getting good marks in school.

Now, what else was in that dream?

“Right, this is all sort of…unclear.” She laughed and shook her head as she looked up lucky symbol number three. Dog.

“Here’s another big one. Dog says… To dream of small dogs indicates that your thoughts and chief pleasures of a frivolous order. Is your dog a big or small dog?” She skimmed over the information, again trying to find relevant parts. “Lean, filthy dogs indicate failure in business and sickness among children. I’m assuming your dog isn’t too dirty or skinny though. It also says fancy pet dogs signifies a love of show or that the owner is selfish. It's not that she thought her friends would, but she felt betrayed by a couple of them lately. Maybe that's what the dream was about her hurt feelings. Well at least it wasn't about Maxwell that's all she cared about. "Does it say anything else or just about the betrayal." Wondering if there might be more.

"It says that being on a mountain also means that there is an obstacle that you have to figure out. Maybe if you figure that out in real life, you'll stop having that dream." Yeah, that sounded about right.

Ew...this textbook was...literal. Ew.

Okay, so nothing about heart SHAPED objects, just seeing a real heart. "Pillows represent luxury and comfort...so again...more good things in your future..." Kurumi said as she continued to flip a little more. Unless his hardships now were because of too much luxury and comfort or something like that. "You said you were trying to reach the pillow...but couldn't, right?" Kurumi asked as she paused her flipping. "Is there something that you are wanting? Material or otherwise?" Because not everything had to be an actual object when it came to luxury and comfort. Kurumi had often dreamed about wanting a better relationship with her mother. It had been something she had long for for a long time - her mother's approval - and it was the one 'luxury' that she had never had. Not until...the end at least.

While she waited for an answer, Kurumi continued her flipping and scanning of the 'l' section to find the meaning of locket.

Jory nodded. "Yup, I couldn't reach it,'' he said. "I just kept moving in one place.'' No matter how hard he had tried, he just couldn't move. It was as if some force was holding him back.

He shook his head. Well, that wasn't quite true. "I just wanna pass my OWLs,'' he mumbled. "And materially, the heart shaped locket..'' he trailed off, going a bit red. "It's the exact one I'm getting for my girlfriend.''

Floating...in air and not water...not that the book really specified either. "Alright...so...your dream has an overall influence and theme of overcoming obstacles...so that is probably the underlying issue at present or in your future," Kurumi said, pretending to find all this to be somewhat factual. "Perhaps all the other symbols in your dream are related to that then." Just a thought.

Check off floating from the list of symbols.

Flipping through her book again, Kurumi looked for clouds to see what sort of symbolism there was. "Looks like clouds go hand in hand with your floating," Kurumi nodded. "Assuming that they were white and fluffy and all that...they mean you will be successful after trouble has been your companion...so...you might be struggling now...but not for too much longer."

Probably. Depended on if there was a symbol in his dream that gave any indication of time.

Kurumi looked up for a moment when Tinka flailed a bit more. Really, Kurumi just wanted to hug the house elf and somehow make the broach appear. WHY was the Headmistress so obsessed with her broach? It was...suspicious... and not even pink. Shouldn't she be more interested in pink things? Not green...

But back to the book. Music...music...music... Was jazz harmonious or discordant? Kurumi figured that it wasn't stop and go during his dream and, well, Kurumi rather liked jazz music, so off to read that interpretation as well. "The music is the same too. Pleasure and prosperity. Good things are in your future."

Jory nodded. "I'm struggling all right,'' he told Kurumi. "Struggling to hit the books more.'' He was running away from studying. Right now at least.

He listened in disbelief. "Er... I didn't expect all that prosperity,'' he said. Was that dictionary exaggerating the symbols?

Kurumi looked up from her parchment when Jory spoke. So, he was immobile in his dream. The Gryffindor couldn't help but wonder if perhaps there was an entry for such a thing in this dictionary. Maybe if she had time she would look that up after she did the remaining one - which was the locket.

Wanting to pass his OWLs and wanting the locket. Kurumi probably should look up the meaning of the locket before actually coming to any conclusions...but if the one in his dream was the exact one that he wanted to give his girlfriend then it probably was just that, right? No need to add extra emphasis on something that didn't need it...

...although that was all this subject seemed to do. Meh.

"Locket...locket...locket..." Kurumi muttered as she flipped some more. Of course, another long with with tons of variables in it. Sigh. Kurumi began to read over the various meanings - most of them applying to girls and very little mention of guys and lockets. Nothing really seemed to fit unless you stretched the interpretation of losing a locket since he couldn't actually reach it. "Um...not being able to reach the locket...um...could imply..." Kurumi bit her lip. Ruddy subject. "...could imply... death throwing sadness into your life.."

So much for all the prosperity?

Catching up---Post 1

Gideon had been listened to his classmates as they randomly picked out items from the dream intrepretation chapter as he himself flipped to it for his own. They all certainly sounded interesting, with the connections of certain images to things especially when each side seemed completely different from the other. He had just about picked one to speak about that no one else had when the house-elf appeared about the brooch. Really....every class? Couldn't they look better at times the students were all in their common rooms to avoid getting mixed up in stuff like Lafay and students calling them names? Or those being afraid of them. He did as was asked of him, searching around his desk to no avail, straightening back up in his seat as Professor Elwood moved them on to the next part of class.

Right...partners.

Oh how he loved his part of class...not. He tended to stay back and look for one while all the others were picked out from under him. So in the end he had no one to work with, at least no one he could find. Not that he'd really want to share one of his dreams with someone else. Gideon was sure they would probably turn out all weird and foreboding given his past and family history. So instead he looked to the board as a dream was shown that they could interpret on their own.

SPOILER!!: Dream
A small girl dreamed once that she was in an empty feild and as she was walking a ladder appeared out of no where, which she climbed. Suddenly it began to rain soaking her clothes and hair but she continued to climb. She finally came to a platform where a large eagle's nest lay. The girl then suddenly woke up.

He copied it down in his notes for easy reference and read it through a couple of times trying to pick out the three symbols written within the dream. They weren't too hard to find, the seventh year, just wanting to make sure he was choosing the right ones. After all things were often up to interpretation even in reading. Finally Gideon had his list that he had written clearly on his parchment beneath the dream, leaving enough space between each to fill in....ladder....rain...eagle's nest. And now all there was left to do was the interpretation, the boy turning back to the start of the section in their textbook to find the index.

Sarah was glad when the professor came to her rescue with a dream to interpertate. Sarah wrote down the dream in her notebook and opened up her text book to try interpertate the dream. The first thing she looked up was field.. yet there was no mention of field that was empty so Sarah looked to find another symbol.... There were plenty there.. she just had to look.

Kurumi looked at her textbook again. Erm...Kurumi didn't like where this was going. It had been all sunshine, rainbows, and unicorns up until she had looked up the locket and then things had just gone bad. "Um...maybe the locket means something else though, since you said that it was exactly like the one you wanted to give your girlfriend," Kurumi said as she returned her attention to her book.

He said he couldn't reach the pillow and the locket, that he was sort of frozen in the air...which was sort of the same as paralysis...

Kurumi was back to flipping until she came across the word in the text. "It could also mean....cessation of affections."

That wasn't any better than a death bringing about sadness. Way to go, Hollingberry.

Chewing on her lip anxiously, Kurumi looked back at the Hufflepuff and tried to convey that he shouldn't take any of this too seriously. "So...your dream might be saying that there is prosperity in your future, lots of good things, but the one thing you want the most..." The locket on the pillow which probably signified his relationship as a whole. "...is just out of reach or at risk of going away because you are distracted by all the other luxuries around you." So...was he taking his girlfriend for granted?

Kurumi chewed on her lower lip some more. Awkward.

Minerva put her hand to her chin in thought. This was interesting, so dreaming of the mountain and friends not helping means a friend will betray me, she thought. Well going through her friend list one name kept jumping out, well two actually one did not come back to school and the other she wasn't sure if she could even call a friend. Then she said an obstacle. Hmmmm, has there been an obstacle, shaking her head a bit, pick one in the list of many, she thought. "That book needs to give specifics of what kind of obstacle, I'm 14.. Of course there are obstacles." she smiled at the Jen. "Well I wonder, can you look something else up for me.. What about lakes... if you dream of lakes?"

The next thing that caught Sarah's eye was something about a ladder. She went through to the L and scanned down the LA's and there right after Lace was Ladder. She then looked at the beginning of the text. It mean that if the ladder was raised for you it means that your energetic and nervy qualifications will raise you into prominence in business affairs. Sarah wondered how that would apply for a a small girl, as she did not have much business affairs. Then if one would actually climb a ladder up it means prosperity and happiness. The rest did not apply to the dream as the girl did not fall down a ladder and such.

It doesn’t really say anything about a playful dog trying to take something from you…” She frowned. “So maybe your dog means…gosh I don’t know. It doesn’t really seem to fit.”

Ella smiled, nodding her head. "It is very unclear! You're doing well, though! Good job so far." Because Ells felt it was important to give her the girl some encouragement...oh, and a smile. She got one of those too.

Ella looked at Eliza thoughtfully, a small smile playing on her lips. "Dino is a big dog, quite big actually." And adorable too, though she hadn't asked about that. "Well Dino is pretty fit and he's definitely not showy...Huh. Strange that it doesn't mention healthy dogs or um...happy ones." That was kind of rude, actually! Why were those dogs left out. Poor things..."Well best to move on to the next one, yeah?" And at least there was no negatives from this particular symbol in her dream. That was a seriously good thing.
