Vaguely aware of the professor's eyes seemingly on him, Ethan turned his attention back to the front of the class and on one particular shadow behind Romanos. That would make a perfect hiding spot... he thought as his mind began to wander, his anticipation growing as he waited for class to begin. |

*glaaaare* Why did they always have to have the yoga mats out? ...and why did they always have to do yoga? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sierra had heard all the reasonings behind it, but just once, couldn't they just chill while learning about dementors and inferi? She frowned at the music. This was such a creepy class. ...and no, she wasn't scared. She was just...maybe eyeing all the scenery a little too much. |

SPOILER!!: Elliot Hannah nodded at her friend. She needed to tell her something urgent? She really hoped that it didn't have anything to do with her father or new baby brother. "Wait for me after class and we will talk." Because she didn't want her friend saying anything in front of listening ears. Then she heard another voice interupt her thoughts. She turned her head towards the sound of the voice. SPOILER!!: Cora Still she decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and besides it wasn't as if Hannah had a lot of friends so maybe just maybe she shouldn't be so judgemental right off the bat. "Hello Cora...pleasure to meet you." She said in her I'm soo much better than you are voice and I am only giving you a chance because you are Elliot's friend. |
Class has begun! Quote:

"Vell it isn't school vithout some drama." she chuckled lightly, though not too much to seem offending in case the drama was happening to her. "I am pleased to see you in class though." With one more glance at her watch, Medea took out her wand and flicked it to the arena doors. They closed slowly with a loud creeeaaaak, leaving them to rely only on the candles for light. She'd know if someone came in late this way. "Alright, everyone. I think it's time ve start. I hope you all had a splendid summer and ready to learn." Sitting up straight, the professor softly cleared her throat before speaking again, only this time, most of her unusual accent was...gone. "For those who do not know me, I am Professor Romanos, your defense against the dark arts teacher, and yes, we will be putting these mats to good use during our lessons." Nothing like squishing that last piece of hope for some students who hated the yoga. "Before we begin, I would like you all to move into what we call the 'Lotus Position'. If you don't know what that is, look at how I am sitting or turn to an older student for help." Despite the either creepy or calm way the candles lit up the room, depending on one's point of view, it should've been enough to see how she currently sat. "Today we are indeed going over review to refresh our minds on this topic, as we have from previous years, however..." She paused momentarily for dramatic effect. "I am going to be re-introducing the five senses this year as well as hoping to detour most of your standard way of thinking during classes." The first answer they thought of was usually what was blurted out. "To do that, today, when you raise your hand to answer a question, whatever that answer may be...I want you to stop, clear that answer from your mind, and give me a different one. Does everyone understand that?" OOC: Class has begun! If you are just joining us now, please don't post being late and feel free to post your character as if they've been here the entire time. Otherwise, you may risk losing points. ;] |
SPOILER!!: professor Tay nodded at what the professor said before class started. She listen as the teacher talked. Taylor went into the lotus position. Her face wrinkled in confusion to why the teacher would want a different answer but said nothing, since the instructions were simple. |
Glancing to the side she noticed that Taylor had taken one of the mats close to her! Yaaay! With the lights so dim and someone next to her it was even less likely that someone would have been able to make a successful hit at her! Now she was ready to learn the art of protecting hersel--WHAT?! Yoga? "You mean that stuff my step-mother does every morning when she's trying to ignore me??" Merlin, Lex didn't even want to think about it! She had seen the women on tv do some pretty amazing things, and by amazing she meant unrealistic, totally non-human--you must have been born without bones--kinda stuff. Relaxing was hardly the word she would use to describe it...more like self torture O___O And more importantly, what did that have to do with her defending herself from idiots throwing spells at her in the future? Now they were being asked if they understood. Her hand flew up but then she quickly pulled it down as she tried thinking of an answer that was different from the one she was going to say. Oh! She had it. "No." Her first impulse was yes which meant the answer was 'no'. It made perfect sense when you thought about it. |
At the professor's greeting, Vivi offered a near-smile, a quirk of her lip that approximated smiling as best she was able at the moment. They were going to do yoga? Like... sit around and ohhhhhhhhhm? There was a laundry list of things Vivi expected to learn from her new quality Defense instructor, and an even longer list of things she thought she ought to know before applying for the YATI program... The lotus position did not happen to be on that list. "I am super bendy girl," she muttered under her breath as she crossed her legs, looking briefly to Louisa to be sure she was doing it right. Probably she was awesome at yoga. Superbendy!Vivi was going to be awesome too. |
Having already sat down when he had originally arrived, Gideon simply adjusted himself to duplicate the woman's position as best he could when class was called to order. The yoga moments done throughout various lessons weren't always doable at least to him anyway, but the starting one seemed easy enough. Listening carefully to what Professor Romanos had to say about reviewing and trying to answer out of the box as he moved, the prefect nodded his head in response. "Aye Professor," he answered quietly almost to himself as he relaxed into lotus position. |
Yoga? We were doing yoga? What about all the hexes in the textbook?! The unimaginably horrific creatures?! No. Yoga. Kai sighed and crossed his legs. "Yoga is for girls. How would yoga stop a manticore ripping you limb from limb?" he muttered under his breath, quietly enough to avoid the ears of his professor. This could be a long lesson. |
Yoga. Hmm. Her sister Amber had had an obsession with it for a while, thinking that it would improve her Quidditch performance, but Vee had never tried it herself. It looked so... uncomfortable. With a sigh, she tok her place on a nearby mat (orange, her favourite colour) and tried to twist her legs into the same position her professor was sitting in. Wow, this was hard! And it hurt! She could just tell she'd get cramps within minutes. And what was this about not giving the first answer that came to mind? What if she knew the answer, was she meant to give the wrong one? Or just... phrase it differently, so technically it wouldn't be the answer that she first thought of because she'd be using different words... right? Well, anyway, she'd see when there'd be a question posed, Vee decided, wincing as her knee joints began to complain. |
Awar crossed her legs into the lotus position. This was actually very comfortable. She closed her eyes and listened to the music the professor was playing. It made her feel like an extraterrestrial being was going to come down and abduct them all, but yet it was utterly soothing. |
Laura looked down at the mat, oh the torture that was happening in her little brain at the minute, she hated Yoga but she had promised that she would behave and she was going to stick to that promise, she was fighting with her legs, they didn't want to do the yoga, but in the end her mind won the fight and she sat in the Lotus position. Laura listened to what the Professor said and was about to say yes when she cleared her mind and then said a totally different answer. "I may or I may not understand the instructions." Laura was hoping she had done it right, well she would wait and see what the Professor said. |
As Kurumi began to shift into their first position on her mat, turning forward again so that she was facing the professor instead of Daichi, the Gryffindor gave her legs one last stretch and then crossed her legs...but not before leaning over a bit to whisper something to Daichi. "Meet me after class? I think we might be able to help each other," she said. Her with flying and Quiddich and him with his fear of fire. It had been Daichi, after all, who had been the one during the lesson to try and encourage her first. Legs folded at the appropriate angles and all that, Kurumi rolled and attempted to relax her shoulders a bit as her body molded itself into the familiar position...only to come out of it slightly when she heard what the professor had to say. So...they were supposed to throw out their first answer and come up with an entirely new one!? Why did Kurumi get the feeling she was going to be aaaaaaaaaaawfully silent during this lesson? She half wanted to raise her hand and ask about what if their first answer was right and if that meant they had to change it to an incorrect one...but she refrained and instead tried to refind her center in their first position. Which was getting to be sort of difficult now that she had to think about changing her answers.... meh. |
Cassia sat relaxed on the mat with her knees hugged to her chest. When the lights went out the second-year stiffened. She swallowed hard. No one said anything about having the class in total darkness. Well, it wasn't total darkness but it was dark! And Cassia is afraid of the dark. She breathed slowly trying to convince herself that it was not that dark and she could handle it. Though she wasn't convinced in her own thoughts. The twelve-years old glanced at where the Professor was standing or sitting whatever, and raised her eyebrows in reproof. I thought I liked you and your lesson Professor, Cassia said in her own head. She tried to swallow the lump in her throat but that will take time. Lotus position, yeah she knew that. Cassia bent her short legs and crossed them. She placed her hands in the right position as well. But all was done in slow motion because the girl was afraid that if she moved fast something would happen or sense her or anything. Why did they have to do it in the dark! Cassia tried to relax hoping that no one will tap her on the shoulder or nudge her by accident because that won't be very good. Cassia couldn't always control her reactions. And whatever Professor Romanos asked Cassia's mind didn't quite catch it. |

West was going to say yes. He was going to blurt out yes, in fact. But instead he cleared his mind and gave her a different one. "No." Also, hand up. "Can I jog? Instead? Again?" Like last term. He was too restless to just SIT there. |
Yoga? Tag looked beside himself. Was he in the right class? He did not sign up to get a work out. Tag signed up to learn education, especially about dark arts, dark gloomy paintings. Well, he sure hoped they'd use their wand at least, then he'd know if he entered the right class. Following the teacher, with a very noticeable frown Tag sat down, crossed both his legs over and placed his hands on the top of his knee. Slowly he closed his eyes and began to absentmindedly hum. "Mhmmmmmmm. Mhmmmmm." |
SPOILER!!: Hanny Elliot nodded, and lowered her voice to a whisper..."Okay...meet me...like...in the owlery..I have to send a letter to Dani," and her father, maybe, if she felt like. She watched the exchange between Cora and Hannah..and was a little nervous. But Cora would definitely like Hannah...the only question was if Hannah would like Cora. Hmmmph. Quote:
Okay...Elliot could do that...ehh...it was super annoying, but she could do that. Think of a new answer...She took a deep breath. closed her eyes, and tried to clear her mind... Which was very hard at the moment. |
Err... what? There were several disturbing things going on in this classroom. First of all, the fact that the professor had memorized the names of ALL the new students... including Sutton... that REALLY weirded her out. And now they were doing yoga? What was this... gym class? Glancing around, Sutton saw that all the other students seemed to be going right along with this mostly. Sutton raised her hand but then put it back down, unsure of how she was supposed to give another answer to a yes or no question without lying... Instead of answering, she let go of Logan's hand and situated herself into this... Lotus position as the professor had instructed them. This was so weird. |
Minerva listened at the Professor started class and smiled a little as she said they would be doing some yoga. Min thought she should do some of these outside of the classroom as well. Once instructed Minerva sat down and put herself in Lotus Position just as the professor was doing. She looked around to help any first years that might seem to need some help. As she looked around she shook her head yes to the professors question, it was odd why wouldn't their first answer be the one she wanted, but she was the professor so Minerva wasn't going to question here. |
Jen loves Yoga. Best class ever. She crossed her legs and put her hands on her knees. |

She had been fortunate enough to find an empty mat behind her friend Cora. She was about to give her a light poke on the shoulder to let her know she was there, when the professor gave them their first instructions. “We’re going to, what?” Eliza looked around the room. “Is this normal?” she wondered. She had thought Defense Against the Dark Arts was going to be a lot of action and spell learning, but maybe – since it was lesson one, they would start off slowly. She was thankful for that. “I wouldn’t want to take anyone’s eye out on accident.” Watching the professor go into what she called The Lotus, Eliza tried to match her position. “Okay...” observing the way Professor Romanos put her feet on the tops of her legs, she realized this would be difficult. “And it’s only the first instruction,” she thought. Eliza sat cross legged and tried to pull her left foot up over her right knee. “Okay, that wasn’t so hard.” She breathed out. “Now for the next one.” Getting her right foot to also come up was a whole other story. She pulled and pulled, but each time her left leg just slipped off again. “I’m definitely not as flexible as she is.” Exasperated with her lack of flexibility, Eliza settled on sitting plain cross legged for now, until she was able to stretch further. “Now what?” she wondered. Sitting patiently, she wondered if she’d be able to whisper to Cora without getting them both in trouble. Hearing how quiet it was in the room though, she decided not to chance it …yet. |
Belle remembered doing yoga last year in the previous lessons. She loved the idea of yoga. Belle was kind of confused at what the professor was asking but she usually learned to go with the flow of things. Belle positioned herself in the lotus position and was taking three deep breaths and relaxing herself. |
Playing catch up Alyssa smiled when the Professor immediately told them to get into the lotus position. Moving her legs, she folded them one on top of the other in front of her in a seating position on her lap. Then she straightened her back and sat up straight. She listened as the Professor told them what to do when she asked her first question. 'Drop the first answer that came to their mind and think of another?' Alyssa thought to herself. 'Okay this is going to be very interesting indeed.' Alissa tried to clear her mind as she waited for Professor Romanos to ask her first question. |
