flying bottle bottom here if anyone wants it ;) Quote:

Taking the opportunity to slink off to the front of the room, Kurumi grabbed the rest of her supplies and returned to her seat just in time to see a gigantic frown on the boy's face. Oh...not good... "At least you didn't melt the bottle," she said somewhat awkwardly. "I always do that when I am learning new spells. Give it another go." Can't get everything right on the first try after all. Not even the legendary Hermione Taking one of her bottles, Kurumi slashed downwards over it and severed the top half off of it as the instructions had said. Was this really going to fit over the bottom? Kurumi decided to give it a bit of a go and pushed the one half onto the other and gave it a slight tap to push the two parts together. Oh good, it seemed to fit perfectly! O_____________________________o ...........it was stuck. She should have done this later, obviously. Tugging on the end and not having much luck, Kurumi's head snapped to attention when she heard Professor Burbage say something about...adorable panties? Snorting slightly and lunging forward suddenly to try not to laugh, Kurumi tried NOT to look at West and his 'adorable panties.' Just HOW had that happened? Oh, right, back to tugging... TUG TUG TUG TUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUG... .....POP! Oops. Kurumi's arms flailed a bit as the one bottle flew through the air and towards the back of a student's head. EEEK! |

SPOILER!!: Notesies! Alright, time to get down to business.... Jayden left the room quickly, dumping out the rest of the soda in her second bottle, and washed it out with the first one she had emptied. After that she returned promptly back to the classroom after her 'potty break'. Now for the severing charm. Jayden pulled out her wand, pointing it at the second bottle. "Diffindo!" She whispered, watching as the bottle cut neatly in half. She carefully slid the cut bottle over the un-cut one, and then back off, making sure she had cut it correctly... SUCCESS! Now for part two... UGH. Professors these days... |
Help required..volunteers? :3 Text Cut: Professor Cassia nodded at Professor Burbage. Actually Cassia didn't even know that the incantation was wrong. But she surely wasn't going to say so. She will just act as if she had known this all along. That would boost up her coolness as a second year. Oh yeah, isn't she getting smarter. Anyway back to the rocket making. She put the wings she had just cut on top of each other and moved them aside. The two bottles at her feet as well. She glanced at the list she wrote and searched for a quill to correct the spell. Mmm…where did she put the quill? She just wrote with it. Sighing Cassia stood up and started to look around her, on the floor under the seat…somewhere! But nope, no such look at finding it. Fortunately she had brought another quill. Cassia reached for her bag and inserted her hand into it . She retrieved the spare quill and corrected the incantation. Now, where were we? Oh the adhaero spell. Hmm…was this supposed to be a familiar spell? Like now that it was corrected it should be recognized right away. Unfortunately, Cassia still had that blank stare even now. Cassis pocketed the and started to dart her eyes between students. She tried to listen attentively in case someone preformed the spell. She wouldn't just admit that she didn’t know how to do it. Nope, that Cassia doesn't do, unless she got hopeless and started to run out of time. Then and only then will Cassia admit it. But for now she will just try finding someone casting the spell and she could copy whatever was done. Text Cut: Parchment |
Post 1 Ashten, who had remained taciturn for most of the lesson, yawned quietly and stretched in his seat The fifteen-year-old Ravenclaw stood up, pushed in his chair, which screeched terribly along the floor, and began walking up to the front of the class where Professor Burbage had laid down the necessary items for constructing the bottle rockets. He recalled making one of them before when he was younger, but didn't really remember exactly. He picked up his bottle, dental floss (he hated the mint flavor), cardboard, and plastic bag. He shuffled back to his seat and tossed the items onto his desk before sitting down. He picked up his empty bottle and bent to his side to retrieve his wand from his bag. He pointed the tip into the bottle. "Scourge," he muttered. Bubbles shot out of his wandtip and cleansed the inside of the bottle. "Ivanesco," he then said, making the bubbles vanish and leaving the bottle squeaky clean. He held up his clean bottle at eye level, trying to make a good guess as to where he should sever his bottle. He put the bottle back on the desk and pulled out his Quill. Holding up the bottle again, he made a tiny mark so that he could see the cutting spot better. "Diffindo," he said, slashing his wand at the mark on the bottle. The bottle split cleanly at the mark, the top of the bottle clattered to the floor and rolled under his chair. Sighing, he placed the cut bottle on the desk, thrust his wand into the pocket of his robes, and then got down on all fours to retrieve his piece of bottle. |
Post #1 - Cleaning and cutting bottle They. Were. Making. Rockets. Logan officially loved this Professor. Seriously. After listening to her talk some more, he proceeded to excitedly write down the instructions to building a bottle rocket. They seemed simple enough. SPOILER!!: Instructions Once that was done, he quickly finished the rest of the pop and got up to use the washroom. It was a good idea to be safe and that was a lot of pop in a short amount of time As soon as he was back from the washroom, he went to the supplies table, grabbing what he needed, then returned to his seat. Pointing his wand at the bottle, he used Scourgify to make sure that all the remaining pop was gone. So far so good. Making sure that he pointed his wand in the right spot from the top, he proceeded to use Diffindo to cut the bottle. It was a little hard keeping the wand moving in a relatively straight line, but he still managed to do a decent job of it. When the top was off, he put it aside and went on to the next step. Grabbing the other bottle that he had picked up, Logan checked to see that the cut bottle fit over the bottom. It slid off and on easily enough, so it was still going okay for him. Fingers crossed that nothing would get botched. SPOILER!!: Instructions |
Post 2! (: SPOILER!!: Jayden's Notes! Jayden found some blue and silver paper, and cut out two of each color. "Ah. Finally it's starting to look decent..." She grumbled, rolling her eyes as she looked down at the next step to the project; sticking the wings to the uncut bottle. "Adhaero!" She murmured as she pointed at the four different sides of the bottle to stick on the wings. After she was satisfied with where the wings were placed, she moved on to the next step. Jayden sighed, taking her plastic bag, dental floss and the left-over card board out and laying it on her desk. LAWDHAMMERCY. What a process... |
sort of catching up :3 Quote:
She even copied down the notes as instructed but kept silent when the second picture was shown. She had no idea who this guy was either, but she wasn't going to repeat what she'd said before. So she just listened to everyone else's answers. Text Cut: Professor Oh, so they were making...rockets. Sounded cool. But Penelope decided to take the offer to head to the bathroom, partly because they were also allowed to clean the bottles there if they didn't know how to do the Scourgify spell. Which she didn't, and she hated having to ask for help for everything like that. Might as well try to do SOMETHING herself, since she'd have to get help with those other spells listed. So she headed to the bathroom with the two bottles. ... A few minutes later, she returned with two newly cleaned bottles. So now what? She looked at the instructions: Text Cut: Instructions So she had the first two done. Now she needed help with the Severing Charm...especially because she couldn't even remember what its incantation was. "Can someone help me with-" But she was cut off when suddenly- Quote:
Something hit her in the back of the head. "Ow." What was that? Penelope turned and looked down and found...a bottle? She bent down and picked it up then looked around. "Whose bottle is this?" And why was it thrown at her head? |
Post 1+ Cassia reference Rocket building was...err-a bit Muggle and childish, but it also sounded fun! Not to mention that the Professor was going to make one herself. Now that isn't something you get to see every day. With a huge smile plastered on her face, Ariadne read the instructions before finishing her soda rather greedily. She took a second bottle, and proceeded to clean the first one using Scourgify. In the meantime, she had already forgotten what was next, so she looked up to check the instructions once more. Oh, yes. Cutting the first bottle. Wand at the ready, bottle held in the left hand, the Gryffindor pointed the wand at a spot she considered right, and said 'Diffindo!' loud and clear. Soon enough, she had removed the top of the bottle and checked whether the remaining part fit on the other bottle. Which it did. But she had to stop there and make a run to the loos. That's what you get for not following the instructions verbatim, she thought, chuckling. After all, potty break had been the first thing on the list. After returning from the loos, Ari noticed that her little Slytherin friend looked a little disoriented. 'Everything all right?' the girl asked Cassia, in an attempt at being helpful. |
post 1 Arabella-Marie took note of the instructions on the board for making her rocket she drained the rest of her cola and first stop was to have a pee break because she was dying to go A few minutes later Arabella-Marie entered the classroom again after her toilet break and took a look at the first instruction which was to clean the empty bottle of any soda remains, Arabella-Marie got her wand out and said "Scrouge" Arabella-Marie smiled to herself as her bottle was clean and everything, next instruction was to cut the bottle and she got her bottle ready and said "Diffindo" Arabella-Marie made sure that her bottle cut was going to be able to fit on and off the other bottle she had collected and it did, Arabella-Marie looked at her notes to find the next instruction |
Post #2 Quote:
SPOILER!!: Instructions Next step was to cut out four wings, alrighty...Faye traced them on her cardboard. When she was finished to looked at them and realized that they were different sizes. Darn....Faye spent the next fifteen minuets cross out and redrawing and scribbling out untill she had four wings that were at the very least as close as she was going to get them to be. Faye next looked at her list, okay, she took the time to place them no her uncut bottle and looked around.....she needed some good decorating ideas..... |
#1 Oh, the Odessa boy was right then! Nice! Sophie was feeling a little excited now, almost forgetting about everything that was going on. They'd build a rocket She read the instructions on the board. Hmm, nope. She didn't need to take a potty break, for she hadn't drunk most of her soda. While the other students - including Theodore - went to the loo, Sophie pulled out her wand and pointed it inside the bottle. "Evanesco." Aaand the soda was totally gone! The badger smiled pleased for being able to use magic whenever she wanted to again. Spells were SO cool! She also Scourgified the bottle, just to make sure there was no liquid left. Pushing the cup to the side, Sophie pondered whether to write down the instructions or not. Hm... maybe she would want to make another Bottle Rocket in the future? Alright then, she'd copy the instructions! Turning the parchment around, she jotted down everything that was written on the board. She gave the professor a quick smile when she gave her another empty bottle. Text Cut: Backside of the Parchment When Sophie was done jotting down the notes, Theodore came back and she also gave him a quick smile. Now it was time to cut one of the bottles! Good thing they had practiced the Severing Charm in Herbology last term! "Diffindo!" She said as she made a slashing motion downwards. Her smile widened when the upped part of the bottle fell on the desk. She had missed spells SO much! Text Cut: Theo! Before she could go to the next step, Theo asked for help. "Sure!" She said giving him another warm smile. Speellsss!! She held one of his bottles in front of her, but in a way he could see it clearly. "You just need to concentrate and well, be careful." Because this spell could be dangerous, right? "Do a sharp motion with your wand while you say the incantation." And she demonstrated. "Diffindo!" Tadah! She handed both parts of the bottle to Theodore and turned to face her bottles again. The third year put her wand on the desk and grabbed the bigger part of the bottle she had just cut and the uncut bottle, checking to see if it fit and slid on and off. It diiiiid! Yay! |
Still watching what other students were doing ,Cassia didn't notice anyone get to that spell yet. So she still had no idea how to do it but there was still time, she thought. However, interesting things Cassia had heard. Actually weird things about panties and holes. And quaffles?! Cassia tried to understand what was going on. She noticed that people were referring to West. Cassia peered at her friend to notice that his pants were erm..holed. She felt bad seeing how people laughed though she had to admit that his panties were amusing but that was expectable from the quidditch player. But she wouldn't mock a fellow snake though it was so hard considering the situation. "Psssssstt..West" She whispered doubting that West could hear among the noise of the rocket-making. Then Cassia remembered that West's older sister was sitting near him. She could absolutely handle it. And West could too. And she'd be around if her help was needed. Ehh as if. XD Quote:
Glancing at Ari's work, "Maybe when you get to it you can show me how it's done?" She asked hopefully. Ari was a nice girl and a good friend. Cassia didn't mind asking for her help. Not like he lioness would boss Cassia or something. |
POST 1 - and Vickers, Lex, Kurumi, and Penelope Quote:
Vivi rose and retrieved her supplies from the front of the room. The project was rather crafty and simple, but she was interested in seeing if they'd get to see the laws of motion in action. If the only way was a Muggle science project... by all means. Shame Greingoth wasn't super friendly and she was sitting so far from people who might provide interesting conversation. She thumped poor Vickers when she passed him, but that was Vivi-language for hello. Quote:
All except for the last bit. "You try the rest. I'll watch." Quote:
Quote:
"Oh, sorry. That's mine, I think. I'll make it up to you later." She paused and gave Lex a little wave to get on with her cutting already, and then Vivi set to work on her own rocket. The pre-cut bottle was already done, and she trimmed down the sides a bit with her wand to make sure she could slide it easily over the other bottle. See? No flying bits and pieces. No one was going to be able to reclaim her found object. |
I missed quotes. GARY ,West, Burbz, Nigel.... and "Head" Girl (HEADLESS SOON! :D) Making a rocket out of bottles.... easy enough. Aspen idly worked through the instructions, half paying attention, half not. Mostly, she was watching GARY and figuring out ways to make him throw up. That was, of course, until Nigel - a second year from her own House - to be a good citizen and help her brother out. She'd remember that and woe to whoever messed Nigel from henceforth. Aspen could fix his pants, no problem and didn't even expect foul play (because who WOULD mess with West with her sitting RIGHT there?) but.... That Professor. The senile one subbing in this class. She... She.... went and giggled. Burbage giggled, called his boxers PANTIES, and basically pointed them out to the entire class. Most of the class, it seemed, were MUCH MORE POLITE and MATURE than the old woman and didn't make it a scene. Except for, of course... Quote:
But back to the Professor. The one that basically POINTED AND GIGGLE at her little brother, instead of fixing the issue. "A hole in pants can be mended. There's no fixing a hole in someone's head." Shrug. And instead of making a fuss about, Aspen decided to be the ONLY ADULT in the room and at least not make it a big deal for West, "Do you need a mending spell, Rocket Man?" Discretely, Aspen looked to GARY again. She had need of him. She tried to get his attention and call him over to her. GARY. COME OVER. |
Post 1 Tay smiled as the teacher beamed at her. Taylor browsed the room for a few moments, just looking to see who was here and all. After a little bit later, growing a little bored of looking around, she looked at the board then at the two bottles in front of her. Taylor made sure that her bottles were empty and looked up for the next instruction. Tay took out her wand then picked up one of the bottles, cutting it where the board said to, with the severing charm. The loose part that she had just finished cutting landed with a small thud on the floor. Taylor put the part that was in her hand on her desk again then put her wand down as well. She swooped down and grasped the fallen plastic piece off the floor. Tay gently laid it on the corner of her desk as she looked up at the board for the next instruction in making a bottle rocket. Make sure the cut piece fits... okay that is easy to do... She picked up the cut piece that she was going to use and the other bottle. It fit and was easy to slide off and on like the board said it should be able to do. Tay sat it down again and stretched a little while looking around at the class again. Taylor glanced at the nice and pleasant professor, smiling a little. Taylor actually liked the professor so far, she seemed nice and all, unlike some of the other professors, despite what seemed to be an obsession with calling men studmuffins, like her head of house, the history professor, and the two astronomers. As Tay realized that her mind was drifting off topic, she took a gander at the board for the next instruction to do. Her eyes skimmed the board until she saw it: Cut out 3-4 wings that are the same size. |
The next thing that Terry had to do was using the sticking charm to put the wings onto the rocket. It wasn't a spell that he was familiar with and so he used the guidance of the older students in order to perfect it. Charms wasn't something he enjoyed or excelled at. He uttered "Ad-ha-ero" exactly how it was spelt on the board and bit his lip as nothing happened. Oh brilliant, he couldn't do it. That was going to make his life easy wasn't it? He glanced around hoping for a little assistance. "Does anyone have any glue?" he asked. "Or some Charms skills?" he whispered afterwards in a small voice. It wasn't his fault he wasn't exactly talented in the magic department, he was only young and his mother hadn't really focused on spells during their lessons, mainly magical creatures and Herbology. The other subjects occasionally featured in the agenda, she'd call on her cousin for Transfiguration lessons for Terry. He decided to get on with the other tasks whilst he waited for some help. He placed the three items of the desk. He tied the dental floss to the plastic bag and lifted it up, mimicking a parachute action. Well it worked like that. He tied it to the bottom of the uncut bottle, leaning away to see how it looked. Well, it wasn't exactly rockety looking yet but it was getting there. And Terry couldn't wait to get to the decorating but he couldn't get that far until he had the wings attached. Please someone take pity on him? |
SPOILER!!: Terry Tay glanced from the board to the younger student that asked anyone for help. She gave him a light smile then picked her wand up and went over, seeing how he needed help with a spell. Taylor looked at the younger boy, "You do the spell like this" Tay did the spell gestured, "Adhaero!" A wing became stuck on the bottle rocket of the younger student in demostration. "Now you try." Taylor gave him an encouraging smile then glanced over at where she left her things before looking back at the younger guy. |
Post #1 Text Cut: Marion Burbage Text Cut: Instructions Sierra paused and then sloooooowly glanced up at the professor. They were...making bottle rockets? BOTTLE ROCKETS?! REALLY?! No, that wasn't excitement she was feeling. It was disbelief. After two whole years of not having Astronomy at all, she finally gets to take a single class, and they're...making bottle rockets? Great, so she'll just hope her NEWTs consists of construction paper, glue, and a wand, and she should be a-okay. She took in a soft sigh then glanced up at the instructions. She may as well get started. She started by strolling out the classroom and heading toward the bathroom. She wasn't going to complain about that part of the assignment, nope. Coming back into the room, she took another glance at the instructions then turned her bottle upside down over her mouth. Not a single drop came out. Just to make sure there was nothing left inside, she scourgified the bottle then put it off to the side. She picked up the second bottle, because...why not? She hadn't done anything with it yet. Nobody had drank out of this, right? The last thing she needed was Puffer germs. She placed the bottle horizontally on her desk and then eyeballed what she thought to be about 2/3 from the top. Finding it, she aimed her wand toward the bottle and did a few practice swipes before attempting the real thing. Finally, she gave her wand a forceful swipe right down the area she wanted to cut. "Diffindo!" she said, and the bottle cut right in two. |
Post 1 Bottle rockets?! Where was the work with stars...the moon...the sun...the heliocentric model mentioned earlier as part of Newton's discussion? It became all to clear as to why the class was earlier than usual...they wouldn't be dealing with any of that just...rockets. Gideon did his best not to look too disappointed, but it was hard. He had hoped to be working on something that really got him interested about his favorite subject, especially after the disappointment of no class last term and the rocky lessons the term before. Sighs. Might as well get to the activity and be done with it. The seventh year taking a few final swigs from his bottle to finish up the liquid inside, then gave it a quick "Scourgify" inside to finish the job before moving on to the task at hand. First things first, picking up all the supplies he would need according to the directions. Gideon got up from his seat and headed towards the table where the box and extra bottles were located, taking one of each of the cardboard and bottle and a length of dental floss he figured would be enough. He then returned to his seat, setting all the items down on the desk in front of him. At least they got to use their wand. The prefect picked up one of the bottles and held it horizontally so he could aim the severing charm better. "Diffindo!" he cast, drawing it along to keep the cut relatively straight. When he was done, the top fell off and Gideon simply set it aside with his wand before moving on. The seventh year checking to see if they fit together. On...off....on...off...on. Seemed good to him. |
Post 3: Making the Parachute Now that Alyssa had the cardboard wings attached to the uncut bottle, she started working on the plastic bag, which according to Professor Burbage, was going to be their rocket’s parachute. Alyssa laid the plastic bag on the desk in front of her and then picked up the dental floss. She pulled on the floss until she was satisfied with the length that she had and then broke it off from the carrier case. Picking up one loose end of it, she tied it to the handle of the plastic bag, tying a couple of knots around the handle to make sure that the floss was securely fastened to the plastic bag’s handle. Then she picked up the dental floss case again and pulled out another length of string. Making sure that it was about the same length as the first one, she broke off the end and placed the dental floss case aside. Picking up the other end of the plastic bag handle, she tied one end of the floss string to the handle, making sure that it was securely fastened by tying one knot after another. Once she was done. She tugged on both ends of the strings attached to the handles of the bag to make sure that they wouldn’t come off. Now she had her plastic bag/parachute. But first for it to work, she had to attach it to the bottle. Picking up the loose ends of the floss strings, she held one end of it to the bottom of the uncut bottle and taking out her wand, pointed it the string and said, "ADHAERO". A beam shot out from her wand and when it disappeared, she smiled to see that the string was securely attached to the bottle. She picked up the other loose end of the string and repeated the same steps with her wand. Lifting up her the uncut bottle, she was glad to see that plastic bag dangling below it. |
Cleaning and Asking for Help... Post 1 Quote:
Grabbing two empty bottles Ariella excused herself for a few seconds to quickly run to the restroom and rinse out her plastic bottles. Coming back she huffed out a sigh, noticing that she would need to be cutting some things which would require some help from the teacher or some of the older students since Ariella was still only just a first year... "Can anyone help me cut my bottle and wings?" Ariella called out loudly hoping she would catch someones attention, Please!" |
Post #2 Text Cut: Vivi<3 Well that was a relief...she hadn't started rubbing it in that she didn't know anything about casting spells and she was actually happy to help. She placed her bottle on the desk as directed then watched with slightly widened eyes as Vivi effortlessly cut the bottle. O___O She nearly dismembered herself trying that. Intent huh...? Her brows furrowed for a minute as she recalled every last detail of what the girl had done. Better to be sure than end up hurting her...she would never forgive herself if she did. Then when she was sure she had gotten it in her mind she raised her wand and did everything that Vivi had done. "YES!!!! Thanks you're the best!" She gave her a quick hug before grabbing the pieces of her bottle and hurrying back to her seat. Yup. Now she would be all set! -- With her bottle cut she hurried to the Professor's desk to grab everything else that she would need. Now the creative process could really get started. Let's see...and the instructions remaining were... SPOILER!!: Instructions So now she was onto the wings. Using the clever new technique she had learnt she cut out the wings and stacked them neatly to the side of her desk. There was a wide, satisfied smile on her face as she admired them a bit more before setting back to work. SPOILER!!: Instructions Looking back at the instructions again she grimaced. Did every bloody thing require the use of magic?! Her old school's Art classes didn't require such technicalities. SCOWL. Lex took her wand and began tapping her head with it as she tried to think of how she would get this done. Hmm....intent.... She took a wing and put it to the bottle. "Adhaero."...nothing....Her scowl got deeper. "Adhaero!" Intent. Lex gripped the wand firmly and looked down at the stupid wing she had been proud off just seconds ago. "Professor." Her hand shot up. "I can't get my wings to stick." She complained. This was all becoming less and less fun... |
Post #2 Louisa, Vivi, Nigel, Burbz plus the Odessa sibs xD Quote:
......... gosh that was hilarious-- but also extremely embarrassing. Anyway HE felt embarrassed about the underwear showing, even more so that it was called the wrong term FOR BOYS. He did catch Aspen glaring at their general direction, his eyes growing large and him biting his upper lip. What?? She gets a frantic shake of his head. Itwasnthim! Suddenly he felt something go THUMP against him. He spins sharply around his seat, just in time to see Vivi walk by. Oh hitting him now is she? Does she think she can get away with that??.... ..... Yes. Because he did nearly blind her and nearly gave her a bald spot. Soooo he was gonna let that pass. But they are so even now-- a thump AND that Now what was he supposed to be doing? Certainly not watching what West would do about his underwear... Oh right-- parachutes. He grabs the plastic bag and straightens it out on his desk with his hands, then reached out for the dental floss and started cutting them into even lengths. He tied up the strings with the plastic bag and the other end around the neck of the uncut bottle, then shifted the "parachute" into the mouth of the plastic cylinder before fitting these over the bottom of the uncut bottle. There--- now its looking more and more like a projectile. Next up are those wings and the design..... |
Post 4. Assignment complete Now Ariana had to decorate it.. She colored her clear bottles green with some black speckles in it and gave it big white dots and Her wings were brown... why because she could.. She was proud you could say.. it was a job well done for her SPOILER!!: Ariana's bottlerocket SPOILER!!: notess |
Post 2 Arabella-Marie looked at her instructions and saw that she had to create some wings now for her rocket, Arabella-Marie created 3 wings of the same size and shaped them like diamonds and then she looked at her notes and decided to leave putting the wings on till last and saw that she had to create a parachute for her rocket |
