So just tap the are your going to be working on and said Ferula. That seemed easy enough, hopefully she would be able to get it right and her hands would not get tangled in the bandages and instead come out uncaught like Kurumi's hands had come out uncaught. She almost did not notice how Kurumi had moved her hand to the base of the branch so that her fingers wouldnt get caught. Good thing to make note of. Concentrate and visualize. Just do the Mooncalf solution as Kurumi showed her, tap the branch concentrate and say Ferula. Looking at the branch Kurumi sugested her to work on, she removed the lid from the mooncalf solution and put some on each end of the broken branch. Now it was the hard part. Just before Nerida was about to perform the spell, she remembered move the hand back before doing the spell otherwise she was sure to get caught in the bandages. After moving her hand to the base of the branch she was working on. She concentrated and visualized what she was going to be doing, she tapped the branch and said Ferula. Almost instantly a splint and bandages appeared out of the Ravenclaw's wand, they immediaty gently wrapped themselves around the broken branch. Yeap, she didnt get her hand caught into the bandage and she concentrated and focoused on what she would be doing. Turning back to Kurumi she asked Did I do it right? For all Nerida knew, she could have messed up the spell and it just looked correct to her. |

Mordred looked down at the boy and gave him a nod. “Alec.” Yes, he’s heard of that name countless times. This boy must be popular too. Oakey was famous for being unlucky and clumsy in their house, and most probably this kid was also a popular one. He was not sure though, if he was clumsy. “Dear Merlin, please let this kid be lucky. K? Thanks.” He said to himself. “I’m Mordred, by the way.” He said as he extended his hand for a shake. Mordred looked up at the branch again. They needed to climb that tree to reach it. It still can be saved, unlike the others that needed to be cut down. The boy placed both hands on his waist and frowned. “Yes, it’s Ferula. I can do that.” He said and turned to Alec. “The thing is, someone has to climb the tree.” Should he do it? Mordred pursed his lips as he tried to think of a plan. A few seconds later, he turned around and faced the tree. “Okay, Alec. Here’s what we’re going to do…” he spun around and loosened his green scarf. “You stay down here and help me levitate the hanging branch.” He said as he eyed the branch which was slightly snapped half way. “That way we get it to a parallel position and I’ll be able to splint it. Got that?” Well, Mordred hoped that Alec was good enough to do a levitation charm. Without even waiting for an answer, he turned to face the tree again and started to climb it. |

So it was Ferula! Hey, he was right! Maybe he could treat himself to some ice cream after this. Or... hot chocolate, seeing as it was December right now. And sweets! Lots of sweets! He turned to look up at the boy as he started speaking. It was probably a good thing that the boy had a plan because Alec didn't know what to do at all. "I like the levitation spell!" he said, a little too excitedly, "Okay, yeah, I can do that!" He nodded and ruffled his hair, keeping his eyes on the splintered branch. All he had to do was help levitate it and the boy can do the Ferula bit. That was simple enough, right? And it was perfect teamwork! Yeah. Awesome! And Mordred was climbing the tree! Like... like... Tarzan would! Alec grinned as he took out his wand and looked between the branch they were working on the older boy. "Hey, Mordred? You have the vial, right?" If not, Alec could always provide him with one seeing as he wasn't the one who really needed it. |
Lily stood at the bottom of the tree that she wanted to climb. That's right... she wanted to climb the tree to get to the upper branches to repair those damaged limbs. And she herself wanted someone to be on the ground below her, watching, to make sure that she didn't break her limbs. The second year liked climbing trees. She liked climbing anything so this job made sense for her. After standing there looking around for a minute or two, Lily decided that the only way she was going to end up climbing would be if she said something. So she called out... "ANYONE WANNA WORK WITH ME??" Yep... they could work on the lower branches, and Lily would work on the upper branches. ... Now just to wait and see who comes over... |
No one had posted before I had to leave for travel.. So finishing one starting a new. OOC: Post two Minerva finished up on the bush and went over to a tree that had some limbs hanging that could not be saved. She pulled her wand again and gripped one of the limbs "Diffindo" she took the branch and set it with the trimmings she had piled neatly. Walking back to the tree she took another branch that was not able to save, "Diffiindo" She took the branch and put it in the pile as well. Then instead of going to find more things to cut she decided to just pick up the twigs and branches that had fallen on the ground. She walked around the grounds picking up more twigs and placing them back in her pile. SPOILER!!: Professor . SPOILER!!: Lily Minerva went to Professor Bentley and took the vial of Mooncalf Solution. She went back towards the trees thinking about the spell ferula, ferula. As she said this over and over again she heard someone ask about working with them. She looked up to see a ravenclaw, "I'll work with you if you would like." She then looked around for branches. "There seems to be one up there are you afraid of heights? I will climb up alone if you are, but if your not why don't we both go up and fix the limbs together." |
I'm already up here xD Alyssa looked up at some of the taller trees and noticed some of the branches needed repairing too. She checked the lower branches and they seemed sturdy and strong and didn't have any need for repairing. Alyssa looked up at the top branches again. She looked around to see whether there were any smaller student around that she could lift up her on shoulders so that they could reach the branches and repair them. But they all seemed to be working with the other students already. So Alyssa decided that she would just climb the tree herself. She first tested the bottom most branches to see whether they could take her weight. Then she spotted a very thick and strong branch that was slightly out of her reach. Alyssa looked around before walking a few paces back. Then she turned around, ran and jumped and tried to grab hold of the branch, but she missed it by a couple of inches. She landed softly on the ground. 'If only I could use the levitating charm on myself.'Alyssa thought to herself. 'Okay let's give this another try.' she told herself. She turned around and walked a couple of paces back before turning around. She kept an eye on that branch. Then she took off running. This time as she jumped, she kicked off with one foot against the trunk of the tree and that seemed to help because she was able to grab the branch this time with both her hands. Now that she had a grip of the branch, Alyssa was able to pull herself up until she got a foothold on one of the stronger branches. She tested the branch to make sure that it could hold her weight before walking along the branch while still holding on to the one above, until she got to the damaged branch. Removing her hand from the branch she was holding above her, Alyssa took out the vial, and using her mouth she removed the lid. 'If only I had more hands, Alyssa thought to herself. She decided that she would sit down on the branch that she was standing on while repairing the branch. So Alyssa slowly lowered herself while maintaining her balance as much as she could and when she was in a crouching position, released her hold on the branch above. She quickly straddled the branch she was on, sitting on it. Using her hands and legs, she scooted over to the damaged branch and now that both her hands were free, Alyssa took hold of it and added a drop of the Mooncalf solution on both ends of the damaged area. Then she held them together until they joined together like a jigsaw puzzle. Holding the branch with one hand, Alyssa took out her wand, pointed it at the spot where she wanted the splint and bandage to be, and said, "FERULA" as she concentrated on the spell. Like before a beam of light shot out and hit the spot and when it dissipated, a splint and bandage took it's place. Alyssa smiled letting go of the branch and it swung up back into place. Alyssa was going to climb up higher before she heard someone below say that they needed up help in the trees. So she yelled down to her. Quote:

SPOILER!!: Nerida <33 Taking a step back to give the younger Ravenclaw some room while she worked, Kurumi leaned over a little to get a better look. Watching as the Mooncalf solution was applied, Kurumi could almost feel the nervousness oozing from Nerida as it came time to perform the spell and a small smile tugged at the Gryffindor's lips. Merlin did she know how that felt, performing spells for the first time. She almost always melted something, but it usually only took one mild disaster to wake herself up and then she could plow through and on to the next part. Her smile only widened more when she saw the bandages and splint wrap around the branch and was even more pleased to see that Nerida's fingers survived. When she was asked if she did alright, Kurumi nodded her head and took a few more steps forward to inspect the bandage. Not bad for a first go. Not bad at all. "Looks good to me," she replied, looking back at Nerida. "Just remember to concentrate like you did just now and if your fingers DO get caught...well...let's jump that hurtle if we come to it." Which...hopefully wouldn't happen, although it would be amusing if students somehow managed to bandage themselves to the bushes. Professor Bentley may not be as amused by the image as Kurumi was currently. That was really all these was to it. Nerida was free to go off on her own, help younger students and what not, or she could stay and work with her and West some more. |
Oh! OH! Sophie knew that spell! WOOP! She beamed at the oportunity to practice even more spells. She really liked that. Since she wasn't a first year - aaand she knew how tha spell worked! - Sophie just went ahead to collect a vial of Mooncalf Solution and walked around calmly in search for a branch she could heal. The fact that she wasn't desperate to find one quickly probably helped her find one faster than before. She smiled and skipped in its direction, bending down a little to be able to examine it better. Yep, that should work! Ever so gently, she held the branch and let a drop of the solution fall on each of the ends. She placed the vial between her knees and connected the parts as perfectly as she could. Pulling out her wand, she gave the branch a little tap. "Ferula!" And after a beam of light, there were bandages around the branch. "Cool!" Sophie said with a smile as she inspected her work. |

"Well the spell...Ferula...is a spell that conjures up a splint and ropes of sorts," the prefect explained, his gaze resuming its look around for a tree limb that needed their help. "Useful when dealing with broken limbs of both the human sort..." Gideon broke off as he spotted one and adding " ... and the tree sort," as he motion for him to follow. "See this one can be healed and the first step would be to add mooncalf essence to both sides of the break." Taking out the vial he had picked up earlier, the sixth year moved to demonstrate on one side. "Like so," Gideon said as he applied it. He was sure to apply enough that he thought was needed but not too much that it would surely ooze when connected. "Why dont ye add it to the other." |
Anya needs some help. ^_^ To anyone willing to help my kiddo out. Anya grabbed a vial of moon whatever stuff. She should really learn to listen better. But, she had such a hard time when the words were so boring and long. The important part was... she got to help a tree! How cool was that? And so Anya, after grabbing one of those vial things, skipped off to find a tree to help. She looked up as she passed the trees. She spotted one that had a broken limb. Smiling to herself, she began to climb the tree. And climb she did. When she arrived, she examined the branch. So... she had to put the solutiony stuff on both sides... then hold it back together... then bind it... Sounded... easy enough. She put a drop on each of the sides, then held the branch parts together. *blink* Wait a second. How was she supposed to use her wand when her hands were occupied with holding the tree together? She awkwardly looked down. "Erm... little help here please..." Preferably before her arms got tired. |
Text Cut: Macavity Nigel was happy that he finally got help because this was confusing to him. Maybe it was because he was a first year, but he at least had to give it a shot he thought. "Oh thanks, for helping me" Nigel said sincerely. He was glad Gideon made the answer easy to understand because now he understood what he had to to and what the spell actually was. Nigel knew that the pronunciation to the spell was Fer-ROOL-lah and was actually surprised when Gideon started the assignment with him. OK he could do this Nigel thought. "Just like this then?" He asked as he took out his vial and started to apply it to the other end of the branch just like Gideon did. He then took out his wand ready to try the spell Ferula that would put a splint on the broken branch. "And now we do the spell Ferula right?" This was the part Nigel liked when you actually had to use magic. |

Lily started out slow. She grabbed the first branch she could reach, and slowly made her way in towards the trunk of the tree. From there, she found a little notch to put her foot on and reach up towards the next branch. About halfway up to where the puff was, she stopped and took a break for a minute. It was a pretty tall tree... Lily looked down to see how the puff on the ground was doing before turning and scaling up the next few feet like it was nothing. Within the next two or so minutes, the second year was up sitting on a sturdy branch near the puff that was already in the tree. "So.... do you wanna put the potion stuff on it and hold the branch in place while I splint it? Or the other way around?" She asked as she pulled on her dragon hide gloves. |
SPOILER!!: Professor Bentley! Ella was excited when Professor Bentley finally called for everyone to bring it in. The first part of the lesson had been fun, especially because Ella was able to try out a new spell... Even if it had been quite hard to say. She wondered what they would be doing next. Surely something else to help the broken plants, yeah? The second year smiled when she heard what the next method of healing was. She had attended the healing seminar last term and had learned the spell so she already knew how to use it. Cool! That meant she could do a lot of the healing on her own. She liked that idea, especially because working on her own forced her to keep trying if she didn't get things right the first time. That way she could figure out the solution for herself. With this in mind, the second year walked up and collected the vial of the brown Mooncalf Solution and headed towards a nearby tree, eager to do some climbing. Arriving at the base of the tree, Ella found a good spot for her foot to take hold and hoisted herself up on to one of the lower branches. She shimmied a bit to the edge of the tree, just close enough so she could work with the branches, and started to check for clean partial breaks. After a few minutes and many frowns (because the poor tree had many broken branches), Ella found a branch she could mend. "Here we go, Mr. Tree. We'll have you fixed up in no time." The second year then took the stopper off the vial and put some of the Mooncalf Solution on each end of the branch so she could piece them back together. Having then aligned them so they fit together, the second year tapped her wand on the spot. "Ferula!" The splint and bandage appeared and the branch was now properly wrapped. "See? All finished." She said with a satisfied nod of her head. Now on to other breaks... |
SPOILER!!: Fellow Tree Climber Alyssa waited while the young Ravenclaw climbed up to where she was and then told her. "Sure I can put the potion and hold it while you cast the Ferula spell." So Alyssa applied a drop of the Mooncalf solution on the end parts of the branch and then joined them together, making sure both parts met at the exact spot where it had broken apart. "Okay I'm ready. Do your magic." Alyssa grinned at the girl. "By the way I'm Lyssie. Nice to work with you." Alyssa introduced herself. |
SPOILER!!: Nigel He offered a smile as he was thanked for his help despite not having actually done much of anything yet. "Yer welcome." The Ravenclaw seemed to get a handle of what he had said though, no look of confusion gracing his young features. "My name's Gideon by the way," he introduced figuring it was probably a good idea so they weren't just talking like random strangers and students that were helping each other. Gideon watched as his young partner followed his example, taking a dollop of mooncalf solution and adding it to his side of the injured branch, the prefect nodding at first in answer to show he was doing it right. "Aye...just like that." As Nigel had taken out his wand already, he figured to let the Ravenclaw cast the spell. "Aye," he repeated confirming the process, moving to take hold of both pieces of the branch and gingerly easing them together at the break doing his best to piece them together as correctly as he could. "Now while I momentarily hold it, you can cast the spell," Gideon instructed the younger boy. "Remember to gently tap the spot where the joint is as ye say the incantation." |
SPOILER!!: tree climbers "That sounds great.Let's head up then." Just as she was about to climb the tree she saw Alyssa. "Hey Alyssa" She knew many people called her Lyssie, but Min never got use to it and like the name Alyssa. She grinned at her friend as she climbed up the tree to join her. "You two could start where Alyssa is and I'll work over here." Minerva smiled then turned moving a branch that needed mending. She pointed her wand "Ferula" then she carefully switched hands and put some of the mooncalf solution on the branch. Hoping she was working it alright. Then she saw a bigger branch, "Why don't all three of us tackle this one. I could hold it, Lilly could do the spell, and Alyssa you could do the solution, what to you girls think?" |
SPOILER!!: Gideon Nigel was excited he was finally getting to do some magic and forgot to tell Gideon his name. Nigel mental slapped himself and then said "Oh sorry Gideon, I'm Nigel". He was glad he had applied the mooncalf solution correctly, because it made the next part easier. He said the spell a couple times in his head to get it right, like he always does. Fer-ROOL-lah, Fer-ROOL-lah, Fer-ROOL-lah Nigel keeps say in his head. OK I got this, Nigel gently taps the spot where the joint is and says "Ferula". Nothing happened, Nigel thought he did everything right and even gently tap the branch instead of smacking it. Well Nigel was not one to give up quickly so he quickly forgot about his failure and tries again. He gets in position and even gentler taps the branch and says louder "FERULA". It worked the second time. It conjured up a splint just like Gideon said it would. Nigel had a big smile on his face and had to refrain from bouncing up and down on his feet because he was so happy he did it. |
Anya SPOILER!!: Anya Just as Selina finished up her last bit with the tree, she tuned into what Bentley had said to the entire class. It seemed that she needed some of the older students to help assist the younger students who were still struggling with the spell. Selina was not that fond of helping younger students, only because a majority of them thought they knew everything and know-it-alls were never a plus in Selina's book. But then she heard a familiar voice call out to no one in particular to help them- Anya. The redhead nearly threw her fist in the air when she heard Anya's voice. She liked this younger student so she had no problem helping Anya. So she walked over to Anya and she said, "Hey kiddo.. you need help?" Please say yes, Selina wanted to help. |

"Yeah. I can't really hold these in place... and use my wand at the same time." Which made her wonder how the other students were doing. "I guess I just choose a branch a bit too big for me to do on my own." Although, if she was wrapping the branch by hand, she'd have no problem. But her years of first aid were no match for casting a spell without a free hand. "Mind just putting the bandage on? I've already done everything else." And it was already being held nice and steady. |
After collecting the moon calf solution from the Professor, Jory searched for a branch that had been really damaged. After a couple of minutes, he cam across one which was way up a tallish tree. He scanned the tree, looking for the best way to climb up. Finally, the Puff decided he would climb carefully up until he reached the fork, then he would climb from there to the right side of the tree where a strong branch that would be able to hold his weight. He'd sit on that branch and look after the broken branch. With caution, Jory climbed the tree. He wasn't afraid- he'd climb the fruit trees in his back yard at home. But he didn't want to take a nasty dive down to the ground. Finally, he was sitting on the thicker branch. He took out the Solution from is pocked and poured some on the broken branch. Next, the Puff took his time to make sure the pieces were aligned properly. When this was done, he pulled out his wand and tapped the branch and said "Ferula!'' and instantly a splint appeared. "Perfect,'' Jory said happily. |
Yay, they were finally going to stop torturing the poor, already suffering branches, and start healing! This sounded so much better! After carefully listening to professor Bentley's instructions, Nora took some Mooncalf Solution and walked over to a branch that looked like it could still be saved, and applied only a drop on each end. As she tried to reconnect the two ends, she made sure that they fit perfectly, and then gently tapped her wand, saying "Ferula". There! A split and a bandage, some Mooncalf Solution, and the branch would be just fine! |

Kennedy had stopped what he was doing and gathered around Professor Bentley to listen to what she had to say next. Ah. So they were getting on to the healing part now. That's what he was hoping for because severing too many branches would leaved the garden looking bald. Once the information for their next task was given he made mental notes and went to grab a phial of mooncalf solution. Having that in hand he wandered toward a tree that had several split branches. A few of them were at his reach, but there about two that were a bit higher. He'd tend to the lower split branches first and then the rest. Before pressing the lowest branch onto its split counterpart he poured a drop of mooncalf solution between them. Then for the last step, tapping it with his wand, "Ferula!" |
Post 1 Any oldie willing to help? ^_^ Chelle blinked. What am I supposed to do, again? Herbology was so not her thing. But she was stuck right now and all she could do was helplessly do what she was supposed to. Not that she had any idea what she was supposed to. She overheard a few students talking, and went towards a tree with a lot of broken branches. The only problem was that those branches were all very high up. She figured she would have to climb up. But Chelle had absolutely no experience climbing trees, and especially not in those robes. She needed help. And she needed it quickly. Ohmigosh, anybody here to help? "Err... would anybody like to help me with these... branches?!" she cried out, exasperated. |
