The staff are seated at a long table stretching across a dais at the front of the room. Feel free to come up and greet them after the feast has started.
The glittering night sky is clear and visible through the enchanted ceiling, and the floating candles bedeck the entire hall in a warm golden light. All seems well with the world, aside from the empty plates still waiting for food to appear.

Oh and that one was pretty excited to be here, just like Callie.
She hadn't lived in a nice home, much less a Castle, since she left the Ministry and lost her flat almost two years ago, this woman seemed to know more people than she did so no wonder she was happy--she knew the comforts of the Castle.
"Hello there!" Callie called smally from her seat with a wave.
Oh, someone had answered her. Isabelle looked down the other end of the table to see the new blonde professor smiling and waving at her. Smiling back, she raised her goblet in greeting and nodded. "Welcome to Hogwarts!" Because, yes, she was new. Issy was observant. And once the feast was over, she was sure she'd meet the woman for proper introductions.
It was while she was looking that the nods and smiles from Fina and Medea caught her eye. Issy gave them a small wave and supped some water to quench her thirst. Not only had she lost track of time before, she'd also neglected to have her evening cup of tea. Unforgivable really.
But a conversation a student seemed to be trying to have with Tate make her stop and stare. Toddles had a glass orb? Isabelle's eyes darted out among the kids, searching for the little house elf. She'd thought Tate had locked that away in his office. What was going on?
1) WHERE MY COOKIES AT, TATE? 2) LOL Leo, you can'd prank proof a library. :P

She gave him a little nod and a smile..a semi smile.
"Hello and thank you. Professor Bellaire, and you are?" Be polite and introduce yourself with your name man.
Watching the way the woman watched him, William was definitely reminded of Thea. Yep. Must have been something with that funky Charms hallway... the ladies that lived there were WEIRD. And this one was no exception. He'd been right.
Just look at how she introduced herself, as if HE was HER student! "Mmm. William Williamson." He lazily held out his hand for her to shake.

When he asked about summer, Kurumi looked down at her badge to remind herself that she was a prefect and would not cry at the feast before she looked back at the CoMC professor. "I'm just glad to be back at Hogwarts," she smiled weakly. "I'll...be bringing Walnut by your office again....professor."
That about explained it all. And none of it was good.
-----------------
Taking a look around the staff table again and noting that everyone was present, Kurumi politely bowed and then turned around to head back to her own table.
Aww. That didn't sound too promising, that whole.... weak smile and sad tone and whatnot. William nodded, though, and returned Kurumi's smile with a brighter one of his own. "Sounds good to me. I uh, if I'm not there, come to the barn, all right?"
He watched her bow and went back to staring at his empty plate, waiting, still WAITING and STARVING and waiting for the feast to really START.

Did she have fun over the break...that was a good question and she wasn't sure what the safe answer would be...she tilted her head slightly, "Yes, very much fun...soaking up the sun and learning to surf and staying out of trouble..." she said the last with a little bit of sarcasm in her voice.
"Yeah I think," William repeated, scratching at the back of his head. "I don't really remember the whole summer, just the important parts." And never mind that he would have forgotten entirely what he'd taught last school year if it hadn't been for the notes he'd found in his hut. Ah well.
He laughed and shook his head at her comment about WOW. "We aren't ALL stooges," he corrected her. "Only Oliver is." He was the only one of them that hadn't gone to university at all, anyway.
Somehow, the man found it highly UNlikely that Gemma had stayed out of trouble, especially if Oliver had been in the picture at all. "Mmmhmm," he mused, making eye contact with her. "You'll have to tell me more about it sometime."

"If you would like, I can be sure to ask how the feathers were retrieved before buying from now on, happy?"
...
"Sybil the dragon?" The divination professor eyed him. She wasn't sure if he was just trying to make her feel bad for accusing him of the same thing or if he was serious. If he was, it was a very touching and sad story, if not he deserved an award. "Well I'm sorry to hear that William. You will have to tell me more about her later when you help me stick these feathers back on my dress." Yes she was going to collect the fallen feathers and one night force him to fix it.
With that she was ready to end there talking for a bit but was distracted when he suddenly shouted 'Baldie' at the man she had just made googley eyes at.
"Wait, Willy, you know him? Who is he?" She asked eagerly, her anger set aside.
Oh who was he?
Of COURSE he was right! WILLIAM WAS ALWAYS RIGHT. Or so he thought. Right?
"Yes. Always check the labels. Make sure your clothing is not made by poor Muggles in those sweater shops." He sniffed importantly, prepared to drop the subject of discussing her attire now and instead talk more about Sybil, but apparently Callie had a real way of rerouting the conversation back to her.
He sighed.
"Fine, whatever, I'll help you fix your dress." He was good at fixing things, anyway. William always had liked working with his hands anyway. He was about to turn back toward one of his other coworkers when Calista basically drooled on him in her excitement to ogle Baldie.
"Heh," he chuckled before answering. "That's good 'ol Leobald Kitridge, former Ravenclaw. Not really sure what his position is though." Must've been a new hire; and since he was a 'Claw, Willy was betting he was the librarian. Ravenclaws like LIVED in the library. Smirking to himself, Willy added, "He loves it when you cal him 'Baldie' by the way. Sorta like a childhood nickname thing."
Or, in Calista's case, it could become her pet name for Leo.

Fate was cruel. Hoping that the whole assembled staff hadn't heard the little Baldie comment that had slipped out of William's big mouth Leobald waved in Willy's general direction as if saying 'Hi, it’s nice to see you too. I'm not shouting across a table.'
If they had been seated on the same side as William he would have gladly chatted with his old school mate about not calling him baldie but alas they didn't so Leo didn't shout back. Hopefully the two other musketeers didn't also work here, if they did he had to prank proof the library and his office ASAP!
Yep, that was Leobald. Acting all 'quiet like.' Like he couldn't holla down the table at a bro. Granted, they hadn't been as close as OW or even Waylon's brother, but they'd KNOWN each other.
Whatevs. "I bet he's the librarian," Willy muttered to Callie anyway. Who else would practice quiet time all the time?

His summer, while it hadn't been that great at the beginning, it had certainly been awesome the second half. All thanks to a few certain women. But back to his mood that had declined after he had decided to go down to his friend's hut so that they could walk to the feast together.
He hadn't seen William in the past few weeks which was weird because they both shared a house but ever since his friend started bringing all those animals home, Oliver had taken to staying elsewhere. Him and animals just did not get on.
Once again, he was getting off track. He had gone down to William's abode only to find that he had already left for the feast and for some reason, one Oliver didn't quite understand, he had gone around to the barn to make sure everything was going okay. He had helped his friend bring it back after all and while he wasn't a fan of it, he would hate to see all that effort be wasted.
So here he was striding his way up to the staff table, clenching and unclenching his left hand. When he finally reached the staff table, Oliver gave Hadley a curt nod. "Hello Josephina. Hope you had a good summer."
He didn't wait for her reply as his gaze went to the women sitting on the other side of the Arithmancy Professor and his jaw clenched slightly. "You lost or something Tillstrom? I do believe your seat is way up there." He said pointing to the opposite end of the table. "Or have you forgotten how the alphabet works?" His mood was was not a happy one and he couldn't even take the time to enjoy the little re-arranging he had done in her office.
And then his eyes rested on his friend. "Your little project is getting close to completion." While he was being cryptic, Oliver had utmost confidence that William knew what he was talking about. If he didn't then Olly was happy to smack him upside the head to help him remember. "I thought I'd check on it for you." Because that's how much of a good friend he was. "And I received another injury." Did Willy remember the first injury he had received? Hmm, did he? Hmmm?
Oliver was so fixated on his friend at the moment that he hadn't taken any notice of the new staff members. Oh well, there was a whole term to get to know them. If he wanted to, that is.
William's eyes lit up as soon as she saw his best friend, but upon noticing the cold, hard expression on Oliver's face, Willy had to fight the urge to not just get up and run away, as far and fast as he could.
"Er, is it?" he asked, trying to maintain a normal volume and not let the excitement show through his tone. "I should... well I'm heading down there as soon as the feast is over, naturally." Most nights he had been sleeping in the barn anyway. "How did you... get injured?" THIS time?
Injuries were really William's thing anyway.

"Thanks,"I think. Was he just trying to distract her from thinking about that vermin that should be sitting two seats away from her? "Sweden was peaceful. How was your...?" Stopping mid question she looked to her right.
Well that answered that. William really only had time to give Cece a series of quizzical looks when she started accusing Olly of rearranging something, so naturally he went back to tapping his foot and pretending to not hear.

"HELLO" She Squealed as she stopped infront of the molting lady. Molting wasn't cool - and were those real she wondered for a moment.
She wanted nothing more than to reach over and feel those feathers. They looked real - and they were pluming off her dress like she was molting. It was funny. Mika giggled a little bit.
"Cookies?" She asked holding up the rainbow colored unicorn cookies. So what if cookie girl looked crazy.
Whose to say she wasn't? "I'm Mika!" She smiled twirled and put the cookie box on the table. There now people could take their pick on which delicious multicolored treat they wanted to eat.
Um. Well this was weird. This girl was like, a tinier version of Kurumi, if that were possible, complete with cookies and all. Still, Willy was hungry enough that he wasn't going to shoo her away entirely not.
"I'LL TAKE A COOKIE!" he called out loudly, waving his hands too so that she saw him.

Morgana boldly walked towards the Staff Table. She decided iot was best to introduce herself, and to explain some things. She had seen that other students were going up.
She tossed her long black hair out of her face with a shake of her head as she reached them. "Hello professor's." She dipped her head slightly in respect and went on "I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Morgana Arthur. It's a pleasure meeting you. I am a first year at this school, but I have actually studied at Durmstrang before."
Glaring at the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor Cece felt as if she could shoot daggers from her eyes. "How DARE you talk to me like that! If anyone is lost or has forgotten how things work around here it's YOU! Did you seriously think I wouldn't know it was YOU that did that little re-arranging act in my office?" That's right, she wasn't asking if he did it, she was telling him he did it.
She may be blonde but she's not stupid.
MERLIN! She was melodramatic.
Oliver managed to give her a lazy look and casually picked up his goblet as he pictured lighting a box of fireworks under her chair. "Really Cece, there's no need to get your wand in a knot. The beginning of term is always stressful. Even I, on occasion forget where I put things. Don't worry no one will think less of you." He gave her an indulgent smile before taking a sip of his water.
Oh he didn't think she was stupid but her temper would be her undoing.

He would make it up to her.

Oliver let out a little snort at his friend's obvious excitement at this news. "Don't worry about it. I ran into Waylon as I was leaving. He's going to monitor it until you get back." He hoped William appreciated what he and Waylon were doing, especially him because he hated the thing.
"One of your pets, I don't know which one." The man had that many it was hard to keep track of what was what. Not that Oliver would really have any idea anyway. "Darted out in front of me, I tripped over the thing and burnt my hand on the cauldron." And if his friend so much as uttered one little word about seeing the healer, Olly would punch him.
Now that he had gotten all that off his chest, he felt much better and he was able to actually let out a little grin and relax into his chair.

Prophecy orbs made one crazy? Clearly this was why she never understand the noble art of Divination. Divining with numbers was more definitive. "But do all Orbs drive you mad?" Surely Calista would know? "And we do have a resident Divination expert in the building now." You know. They could like have her look at it before the Ministry expert got here.
Cece? Huh. When did she end up over there next to her spot? She called over.... "Ce? Come here, would you?" Because she couldn't very well stand up and all.
"It isn't the orb that makes you mad. It's the spells they imbue in the prophecy orb as protection. And that little crystal thingy doesn't have those spells." Tate shrugged. He wasn't going to question it, but it was good to know their Hufflepuff prefect wasnt' going to go starkers.

"Headmaster. I hate to interrupt your conversation but I think there is something you should know." She felt like a snitch, a really bad one at that. However, if the orb broke or if anything happened to someone because the elf threw it too hard. "Toddles has a glass orb like object he said that he found in your office, well he said he found it in the room with the spinning gargoyle." Goodness she was rambling. "It's small and pretty light. She hoped she was doing the right thing by coming here and not chasing after the elf in question.
Oh, hello. Gryffindor kid. Tate raised an eyebrow to invite the girl to speak, but the more she said, the more concerned he grew. How was it that EVERY time they got that blasted orb back in a professor's possession, it popped back up again somewhere else? EVERY TIME.
"I appreciate your telling me. You may return to your table." He rose from his seat and gave Max a rap up side the head. This was his fault. Somehow.
"Excuse me, please. I have to go retrieve Max's trophy." And then it was going BACK to his office.

Tate finally made his way back to the staff table. He didn't like the fact that the orb had mad a reappearance again so soon in the term, even if he'd known it was in the school this time. It seemed he would have to baby-elf-proof his office, and quickly.
On the dais, Tate remained standing, waiting until the students quieted a bit before he began his long-overdue speech. "Welcome back to Hogwarts for another term. I apologize for the delay in getting things started, but for those who are returning students, you know that nothing ever goes exactly as planned."
"We have several new professors and staff members joining us this term, and I hope you'll make them feel welcome. Remember that every staff member deserves your respect and courtesy, whether in class or in the corridors."
"I know there was some curiosity about the happenings last term. We have yet to discover why exactly the creatures were coming out of the Forbidden Forest, although we suspect it has to do with the orb some of you spotted around the school. As the creatures seem to have settled back in without issue, I don't see any reason to continue to dwell on it. We have a Ministry specialist coming to examine the orb, and if there is anything to share, you will be informed shortly. Other than that... enjoy the feast and we'll see you in class."
Out of the corner of her eye, Gemma spotted a girl hopping...almost literally...up to the Staff Table. She smiled at the little girl...she had to be a first year because she was so little but what nerves the girl had. Most first years were so nervous the first night that they just barely ate...or talked...and they hardly ever came to the staff table...A smile spread across the professor's face...yes she was like this first year when she had first come to Hogwarts.
Gemma reached into her bag of Muggle candy goody bags and pulled out one of her extras and leaned up and smiled towards the girl as she placed the bag on the edge of the table, "Did you say Mika?" she asked trying to pronounce it just as the girl had. "I would love a unicorn cookie...do you by chance have a pink or purpleish one?" she said motioning to the girl to come visit...yes this goody bag would be a fair trade for one of the yummy cookies...
When Mika saw the Professor smile - she knew it was a good sign. A GREAT sing. Mika's eyes grew WIDE with joy as she saw the bag of treats being placed infront of her. Those looked SO good.
And she ahd muggle family come on food is great. And so is well - you know, chocolate? And Muggles. Muggles were cool in her book very cool. After all her dad was muggle born.
She nodded when the Professor asked what she said her name was. "Yeah I did - my names actually Amelia Kaikoura Johanson - but I go by Mika...easier for testing and everything" she nodded confidently. Yeah who wanted to wright Amelia Kaikoura a BILLION and ONE times in a day? Not her.
Glancing down into her box of cookies she spotted a Pinkish-purple one. It was Pink, Purple, and a blue - strange combination but it worked. And it was delicious. Mhm she could attest.
Nodding excitedly she quickly dropped the cookie off at Professor Cerulean before taking the lovely bag of treats in return. "Thank you" she smiled "and I hope you enjoy them" she giggled. Giggling was her nervous glitch like saying the word like was for some girls.

Mika turned back to the guy sitting next to the molting Professor and swayed from side to side as he spoke to her. Yeah well - he more yelled he'd take a cookie! YAY cookies.
Right. She was giving them out.
Taking a quick step over she held out the box. She would have noticed him without the waving. He was pretty... Mika didn't like that she thought that. NO HE WASN'T! Boys were DISGUSTING.
Making sure to smile at him all the while.

There was something about the man that was familiar, but she couldn't pinpoint what it was.
Looking past Dash, Leobald's eyes met with those of another pretty blond. She looked familiar and her bright voice made a ringing noice in his head but he couldn't match the face to a name. Pointing in the direction of the Ravenclaw table he said "I used to sit down there dressed in claw robes and now i'm a member of staff."

Headman TIME!
Quieting down as Headmaster Tate came back to the table to speak to the hall Leoblad listened attentively as the traditional opening of year speech was given. It was short and precise just like all good speeches were. As the food appeared in front of him Leo marveled at the selection before helping himself to a little bit of everything. Digging into the food he remembered vaguely his first meal in this same hall after being sorted.

Watching a bubbly girl come up to the staff table and stop in front of the feather dressed professor Leo sharpened his ears. The girl who was called Mika was treating them to whole box of unicorn cookies. Featching his wand from his pocket he accioed a cookie from the box. Firing off a smile in the girls direction Leobald asked "Hello, did you make these cookies yourself?" Smelling his chosen cookie he added "They smell delicious. Thank you for the treat. I shall save the cookie for my tea later tonight."
Following in Mika's steps was another young girl in claw robes. Smiling at her warmly he said "Hello, Morgana! I hope you will come visit the library some time." In another situation Leobald would have asked what had caused the girl to change schools since it peeked his interest but he held that question in. He didn't want to overwhelm the young girl it took courage to just go up and introduce yourself to a group of assembled adults.
Leobald had stopped eating for a moment to pour himself some pumpkin juice when a girl dressed in black and yellow showed up. Had she already finished eating he wondered as she introduced herself. Smiling at her he said "Hello, Pyrsephonie. Lovely name. I take it your were named after a Greek goddess, yes?"
Morgana nodded. 'I will sir." Then she listened to the headmaster's talk, and clapped along with everyone else. "Well I have to go now. Good-bye!" And she turned and walked back to the Claw table.
Laura walked upto the staff table she was feeling just a little bit nervious now, looking for Professor Hadley but then she decided to just ask the whole group of Professor. "Professor's my mate's done this to my hair and I was wondering if you liked it and if I should let her do my hair again?" Laura smiled, she was a bit nervous of all the Professor but well she would just wait and see what they thought.

Pysephonie nodded and smiled kindly. "Thank you. Yes, I am named after the Greek Goddess of Springtime and Queen of the Underworld, Persephone. As well as Freja, the Norse Goddess of love, beauty, seiðr, and pretty much everything else!" She laughed.
Aww and she was welcoming her to the school! This woman was very nice, she didn't even let their distance along the table keep her from talking to the new faces. That was just lovely.
"Thanks so much, I'm glad to be here." Calista called back down the table, her voice raised just enough.

Right....Muggles in sweater shops...Callie understood perfectly.
She didn't dislike Willy, to be honest it was the opposite, but he had spit on her not too long ago and was trying to tell her how to dress--Calista didn't listen to people who did that, however his case for fake feathers or at least ones that were from DEAD ANIMALS made sense.
"Thank you William. I will bring it over some night this week." She would find his office, he needn't worry. Medea would surely let her in on that information. Now she just needed to collect all of the feathers she could and put them in her hand bag.
Her efforts of retrieving all of the fallen feathers was stopped when William began to fill her in on the new guy down the way. "Oh? Leobald." Sounded cute as he looked.
O___o
"Baldie?" She was pulled out of her day-dream to look at Willy with an eyebow raised and an incredulous look on her face. Surely he liked being called 'Baldie', well maybe he did. She eyed him again. "Hmmm...doesn't sound like a very attractive nickname but I guess I can try it if you say others call him that." She HAD heard him call the man that though.

Calisat nodded towards the student trying to take a moment of silence to commit the girl's name to memory for future reference. She tried!!

"I appreciate your telling me. You may return to your table." He rose from his seat and gave Max a rap up side the head. This was his fault. Somehow.
"Excuse me, please. I have to go retrieve Max's trophy." And then it was going BACK to his office.

Hmmm...
What was all that about? Callie had missed what the student had said to the Headmaster but obviously it was important enough for him to have to leave the Staff Table and go out into the student ones. The Divination Professor watched as the man made his way to the table filled with all the students who's robes were trimmed in red, like the girl who had brough the purplr cookie....Kurumi!, and began to mess with something that she couldn't see.
Oh well he was on his way back now.

Oooh a lovely speech.
Callie clapped lightly when Tate finished and smiled politely his way when he sat down.
..........
After eating a delicious meal of roasted chicken, green beans, mashed parsnip, and two rolls of amazing bread, Calista was very full and felt as if she wasn't going to make it up to the Divination Tower. Once the Feast began to die down and the students were starting to leave, Callie stood up and pushed her chair back in. Turning to Medea and Willy. "I'm off to bed you two. It was great to see you again. We need to meet up again soon."
She waved goodnight and then walked along the table nodding and waving to each of the others. None of them had quite as long of a walk as she did though--lucky.
