The glittering night sky is clear and visible through the enchanted ceiling, and the floating candles bedeck the entire hall in a warm golden light. All seems well with the world, aside from the empty plates still waiting for food to appear.
Kaiden shuffled angrily to the stupid yellow hufflepuff table. That stupid, stupid hat had place him in the wrong house. It had placed him here because of the Scout's law. The law he always tried his best to break. HE sat down in a huff, glowered.

Alyssa turned to see a first year who had just got sorted, and he didn't seem to be happy that he had been sorted into their house. 'Oh dear. Here we go again.'Alyssa thought to herself. So she tried make him welcome. "Hi there. I'm Alyssa but you can call me, Lyssie. Guess you're not too happy that you got sorted into Hufflepuff huh. Which house were you hoping you would get into?"

Kaiden was pulled from his thoughts when a girl near by spoke to him. Turning to the girl, he noticed she was older than him. "No, that Stupid hat sorted me wrong." He said bitterly, shooting the hat, that was now in the corner, a dirty look. "I'm supposed to be a Slytherin, They're the ambitious ones." HE frowned and looked over at the table that was surrounded in green.

As Jory sat at the Puff table, he looked around. He spotted loads of familiar faces and the new students as well. He hoped the new Puffs would be really hard working to help defend the three titles they'd won last year.
Jory scanned the Gryffindor table for Ari and the Ravenclaw table for Gwen. But he didn't see either of them. It was their fourth year, and the boy wondered where the time went so quickly. It seemed only yesterday he was being sorted. "Fourth year, here I come,'' Jory thought cheerfully.

Jory stared at the first year who sat down not far from him and had a glower on his face. Jory guessed instantly what the problem was. "You're not happy about being placed in Hufflepuff, are you?'' he asked. The boy reminded him of a first year last year whom had also resented being in Hufflepuff. "What are they getting so worked up about?'' Jory wondered.

Alyssa smiled when she heard the boy tell her that he had expected to be in Slytherin and the reason why. "Actually you don't have to be in Slytherin House to be ambitious. We're just as ambitious here in Hufflepuff House, only we don't 'advertise' it. Since it's your first term here you may not know it but we won not only the House Cup, but also the Quidditch and Gobstones Cup, last term. We wanted to win it really bad last term and we had the ambition to do it and we did. So don't sell Hufflepuff House short. Plus our common room is right next to the kitchen." She whispered to him with a grin.

Sophie was watching the Sorting Ceremony and she saw as a firt year came to their table looking reeeally mad. She sighed. "Again?" She thought, frowning a little. She couldn't understand how some people didn't like their own house. Especially Hufflepuffs! Weren't they supposed to be all nice and everything?
Alyssa started trying to cheer the boy up a little. That was a good idea. Maybe he would feel welcome and start liking their house! "Hello there!" She waved at him with a warm smile. "I'm Sophie! And welcome to Hufflepuff!" Maybe he wouldn't like the greeting, but it was sincere. She truly wanted him to like Hufflepuff!

Then she noticed one of the people she had spoken to last term! "Jory, hi!!" She said excitedly. "Long time no see! How have you been?? Good to be back at Hogwarts, isn't it??" She added looking around and then back at the boy. "How was your summer??"
Sophie skipped her way to the Hufflepuff table. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!! SHE WAS BAAACK!!!! Her eyes sparkled as she looked at the enchanted ceiling and the floating candles. It was all so beautiful! She had missed it SO MUCH!
With a wiiiiiiiide smile across her face, Sophie waved HELLOOOOOOO to everybody that was already at her house's table. Not surprisingly, there were people from other houses there already. Baha! Sophie had always loved this fact. She herself had never visited any of the other house tables, beucase everybody seemed to come over to the Huffie table all the time! At least it was always packed and she LOVED it!
Glenn wandered into the Great Hall, glad to have her robes on instead of the gross skirt her mother had made her wear. She smiled faintly and sat down at her house table next to Sophie. Yes. She was ignoring the ickles.
"Hello Sophie." She murmured.
She leant on the table with her elbows. She was soooo tired. She would even skip the feast and go to bed. The dormitories. Her four-poster bed. Her eye-lids fluttered and closed. Glenn dragged her eye-lids open again and looked wearily around at the table. Why are there so many Ravenclaws here? This was Hufflepuff table, right? Yes. She hadn't sat down at the wrong one. It was like a tradition. Everyone sit at the Huffie table. Take up our seats, why don't you? Sigh.
After this highly adventurous train ride, Lewis was kind of glad to finally have arrived at Hogwarts again. That was until he realized that he was a Prefect now. And that the feast was about to start. Meaning that he had to go into the Great Hall and be all...Prefect-y. Whatever that meant. Was there still time to turn back around and catch the train going back to London?
After a few moments of awkwardly standing at the entrance door of the Great Hall, shuffling his feet and biting his lip, Lewis finally took a deep breath and took a couple of steps inside. He could do this. He didn't even know what 'this' was but he could totally do it. There was nothing that could go wrong. Absolutely nothing. It was going to be fine. Also he still had Evelyn and Keefer by his side - though he hadn't exactly seen them yet - so it was going to be fine.
Happy thoughts. Happy thoughts. Happy thoughts.
With that in mind Lewis made his way over to the Hufflepuff Table, playing around with the badge on the front of his robes a little nervously. Once he'd arrived at the table he even directed a few forced smiles at the Hufflepuffs already sitting there before taking a seat somewhere to the end of the table as well. Now where was Evelyn? Or Keefer?
The train journey had been..exciting, to say the least..but she really glad to be back at Hogwarts again. Her final year. Between her Prefect duties, studying for NEWT's and attending quidditch matches, it was going to be a busy year. But, she knew that she was going to have a great time.
OH. The feast was going to begin soon so here she was, walking towards the Hufflepuff table. She was slightly nervous because she just couldn't spot anyone she knew at the table and she didn't exactly want to be sitting alone. Her eyes wandered down the table...
Lewis! With a sigh of relief, she made her way towards the end of the table and sat down next to him.
Laura looked around to see if she could figure out who was going to be the Hufflepuff prefects, she was sure Professor Hadley would be the head of house again, but the Prefects would be fun to annoy sometimes but first she would have to find out who they was.

Minerva looked at Ameliah and Harvey, she couldn't help but laugh. These two are cute and funny together.

Minerva looked up to see another familiar face sitting down near her. "Hey Alyssa, good summer I hope?"

Minerva laughed not sure whether to believe Laura or not. "Okay if you say so, but let me in on a little fun this year.. Nothing that's going to get me detention or to many points lost though.." she shook her head thinking about it, it didn't matter how much she tried to change, points being lost still made her feel a bit sick. Lewis! With a sigh of relief, she made her way towards the end of the table and sat down next to him.
"Hey, Lewis!" She directed a smile towards him.
Lewis wished Vanilla was here with him right now. At least then he would have something to do while trying to figure out what he was supposed to do now that he was at his house table. But no, his cat had just run off - or well, walked off? wobbled off? - the moment they'd entered the castle. So here he was. All alone. Feeling even more anxious than before.
He wasn't supposed to go up to the Staff Table...hang on, was he? He could see Kurumi up there so maybe...
Before he got the chance to finish that thought, somebody sat down next to him quite suddenly, startling him a little. "Oh...hi Evelyn!" Lewis replied after a taking a deep breath to calm his nerves a little. Yes, finally he wasn't alone with this anymore. She would know what the they were supposed to do now! "So...is there...is there anything we should be doing?" He asked the other Hufflepuff quietly, leaning towards her a little so none of the other students would hear his question.
"No, she was pretty torn up about it." He sighed, "Like, crying, and hurt, and didn't want me to hear any of it... Which is something I'm not even used to."

Over the years he had begun to take it personally, as a sign that his family wasn't good enough.
With this in mind, he made his way over to the Hufflepuff table with a twinge of a sour mood. But as soon as he saw who was sitting there he brightened considerably. Lewis. And Evelyn. Hm? Anything they should be doing? "Um. Not really. At least, not for now." Evelyn nodded, with a smile. If there was, Hadley would have told them..right? Her smile slowly turned into a smirk before she continued, "Um..so, did you enjoy the train journey?"
Evelyn jumped a little when she heard Keefer's voice. "Hey, Keefer." She leaned forward and turned her head towards the Captain, giving him a smile. Starving? "Uh, yeah. Me too." She didn't eat anything during the journey and she was hungry.

Still glancing at the Sorting Ceremony - she wanted to see a particular sorting - Sophie felt someone sitting next to her. Turning her head around, she saw Glenn. "Hi again, Glenn!" Then she noticed her face. "Are you alright?" She asked a little worried. She hadn't seen Glenn like that that frequently - if at all.

Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.
The train ride was an experience to say the least. Oakey was relieved when his Owl finally decided to take off after they got off the train. By then the scratches on his face and hands had stopped hurting and some had stopped bleeding. The long one across his forehead had small bits of dried blood around it and his arm was also smeared with dried blood from constantly wiping his forehead to clear the blood. No one could see his arms now though, he had put on his school robes and uniform before they left the train. He wished Valentine would fly to Hogwarts one day instead of being the lazy owl that he is.
He made his way to his house table, with a large smile. Maybe if I smile big enough my forehead will wrinkle up and no one will notice the cut. He sat down and saw all the familiar faces from previous years. There was Keefer, Laura, Minerva, Sophie, Jory, Lewis (one of their two new Prefects), and Alyssa. Not only were there these faces, but new one too. One that didn't look to happy. They'll warm up he thought instantly assuming that the first year wasn't happy in Hufflepuff.
What made him just a tad bit uncomfortable were the Ravenclaws who were at his table. He had met and made friends with one over the summer, but she was an exception. Oakey could not bring himself to associate with many of them since his Snargaluff incident in his first year.

Oh. Oops. She had noticed him jumping a little earlier. "T-that's okay. I'm glad you're here." Lewis muttered in reply, his cheeks flushing with color as he pointedly looked down at the plate in front of him, and NOT at Evelyn. There was no reason for her to apologize for sitting down after all. And that was all she had done. She hadn't liked tackled him from behind or anything. Why was he so jumpy today?!
His eyes were back on her face again as he expectantly waited for her to answer his question. She was older right so she had to know more. Or something like that anyway. "Oh. Okay. Good." His eyes still darted around a little nervously. What had the other Prefects done before them? Lewis tried to think of what Treyen had been doing when he'd first spotted him at the Hufflepuff table but couldn't really come up with anything except for talking to people. Was that it?!
Before he got the chance to answer Evelyn's next question Lewis was startled once again when somebody plopped down on the seat on his other side. His head jerked around and he found himself looking at Keefer who was talking about...food. "Hi!" Again. It hadn't been that long that they'd seen each other the last time. Not wanting to be the odd one out, Lewis echoed Evelyn's words, "Me too." He wasn't really all that hungry, to be honest but you know.
Also he didn't like this seating arrangement. He had to turn his head from one side to the other all the time.
