Not even ten feet away from Mr. Murdoch's hut sits a nice sized vegetable patch surrounded by a white picket fence. Its four rows of vegetable beds are blooming with produce, all according to season of course, and if you're lucky, Waylon may have left the shed in the back open for you to try your own hand at gardening.
Seeds, spades, gloves and anything else you might need can be found inside, just remember to clean up after yourself when you're finished!
OOC: For now, this thread should only be used for those attending Ancient Runes Lesson 2.
ooc: Class has started. No announcing your late arrival please.
Professor Jenkins stood, leaning up against the fence that surrounded the vegetable patch. His arms were crossed casually across his chest as he waited for the students to arrive.
Winter was not the greatest of seasons to be doing classes outside but with a couple of helpful runes around his neck and a warming charm in place, he was rather comfortable. He just hoped the snow stayed away for at least a couple of hours.
Sarah felt like snowman all bundled up as she made her way to the vegetable patch for a further lesson on Ancient Runes. She waited by the fence with her arms folded teacher, awaiting further instructions. "Good Day professor" she said. Wanting to add - I hope the coldness won;t go into your heart.

Normally, Vickers would love going for long cool walks amongst vegetation, but then the Scottish winter is far worse than anything he has ever experienced even from back home, and having spent nearly two years at Hogwarts hasnt really made him used to the biting winter. So the Ravenclaw, bundled up from head to foot and looking to be twice his size due his clothes, trudged down the Vegetable patch for his next class. The warming charm he lined against his clothes was seeping off faster than he had anticipated and by the time he found himself standing in front of the Runes Professor, the Ravenclaw was hoping they get to start moving to their task quickly. After all, thats the reason why they were out here and not in a classroom right?
"Good day Professor Jenkins." he greeted the man through misty breath.

If she weren't slightly tired from the night that lacked pretty much all sleep, she would've been a little more happy coming to the lesson. But Prue had been up all night, and it wasn't suiting to her. So glumly she made her way to the Ancient Runes lesson before putting a forced smile on her face.
"Hello Professor Jenkins" she said before attempting, and failing, to hold back the yawn, smiling sheepishly at the professor.

Bundled up night and tightly in her robes and heavy Gryffindor sweater, Kurumi made her way to the vegetable patch feeling...rather uneasy. Last time she had spent any time out here had been when her and Kennedy had nearly been eaten by not one but two dangerous creatures. None of them would be here today, right? She certainly hoped not but IF they were she hoped that it was a planned part of the lesson and that they would therefore be learning how to use runes to protect against said creatures. Which actually didn't sound like too bad an idea to be honest.
"Good day, Professor Jenkins," Kurumi greeted with a small shiver as she noticed the runes around the man's neck. "Kenaz?" she asked, indicating one of the runes.

"Good day." he said, nodding his head at the young Gryffindor.

A small smile made its way onto Oliver's face. He had a feeling that most of the students were going to have that slightly disgruntled look about being out in the cold. "Mr Vanderbilt. Nice to see you."

And here was another one. "You'll be wide awake by the time this class has finished." he said giving the young girl a small wink.

"Ah very good Miss Hollingberry." But then he expected nothing less from the Gryffindor Prefect. Oliver fingered the rune around his neck. "Good day to you as well. Do us a favour and fill those jars over there with some bluebell flames to keep us warm."
Dale totally HAD dressed appropriately, but he was just eternally cold. Up until now he'd always spent his winters in the south of England, and there was a definite, if subtle, rise in temperatures in Scotland compared to there. This was not cool.
Except for the fact that it was.
Very cool.
COLD.
As he arrived, Dale looked at the Professor with a quick glance. He'd never REALLY met him before; last class he'd just kept his head down and... yeah.
So, with a quick "Hey sir," through chattering teeth, he looked over the class and spotted one other boy he vaguely recognised. So he went to stand next to him. Because... girls were, you know, girls.
"Bloody freezing," he hissed to nobody in particular.
The cold.

Jars? Turning her head slightly, Kurumi followed the professor's gaze. "Sure thing, professor," she nodded as she made her way over towards them, removing her wand from her robe's pocket as she did. Picking up the first jar with her none wand hand, Kurumi pointed wand inside it and promptly produced the blue flames before setting the jar down and picking up the next one. Having practiced this particular spell since she was a first year, it was one of the few that Kurumi had been able to perform nonverbal. Kurumi continued to fill jar after jar until each one was glowing with a brilliant blue flame.

Oichi wrapped herself in her faux fur coat which had never let her down thus far in this crazy cold winter and headed to vegitable patch for antient runes. That certainly seemed like a refreshing change cause there would less likely be a giant tree for anyone to tease her about her fear of heights. She soon arrived at the vegitable garden as toasty as when she left the castle but the plants did not look too good. She sighed as she passed by the professor and said, "Good day sir", and then took a place standing with the rest of her classmates. Perhaps they would be doing something to help the plants survive this harsh winter. One could only hope.

It's too cold, were Kaitlyn's only thoughts as she made her way to the class. She was wearing her thickest jumper and her Hufflepuff scarf, which she promptly began wrapping tighter round her neck and another cold blast of air hit her. It was beyond her why teachers thought it acceptable to teach in these conditions.
"Hello Professor," Kat said through clenched teeth as shivers ran down her spine. Too cold. Why did she have to come out in this weather? Ugh. She quickly walked away and stood on her own away from every one else. Because being sociable really wasn't her thing! AT ALL!

Zhenya skipped down to the Vegetable Patch. She couldn't quite figure out the connection between vegetables and Ancient Runes. Except... when vegetables were ancient they shrivelled up like prunes. But she was certain that was NOT the connection. Still, she loved being outside so she was delighted that lesson was too.
She was wearing an extra warm woolen scarf that kept the chill from her skin. "Hello Professor Jenkins," she greeted her Professor. Where did she... sit? She shivered slightly as she looked around, trying to spot something that would make her realise why Ancient Runes was outside. Instead, however, she inhaled the lovely fresh air with a smile.

Theodore was tired today, the blistering cold weather didn't help. The fact that it was Ancient Runes just made things worse. Cos he happened to suck at it. But he decided not to skip it.
Wearing his woolly gear, the first year made his way to the vegetable patch. Kind of an odd place for an Ancient Runes lesson.
What were they doing? Painting runic images on plants then watch to see which one grew fastest? Probably. Folding his arms as he got there, Theodore managed a simple, "Hi, professor."

Ancient Runes lesson in the vegetable patch?
Well, this was certainly something new.
With lots of layers on and a fluffy scarf around her neck, Nora made her way outside, right into that... freezing coldness! "Hello, professor," she said as she reached the other students and, after a quick smile at professor Jenkins, the girl tightened her coat around herself. She was cooooold. Brrrr.
Nigel did not like being outside in a cold vegetable patch, when he could be inside where there is heat. But he had to be for Ancient Runes, so he put on his best warm clothing and made the walk to the vegetable patch.
Nigel wondered at first why they would be doing a lesson here in December but it did not really matter to Nigel. "Hello Professor". He said as he looked for where to stand or sit.

Ella walked to the Vegetable Patch, pulling her coat tighter around her as she went. It was quite freezing though she enjoyed Ancient Runes so she was trying not to let the weather get her down. When she arrived, she gave Jenkins a cheerful smile. "Hey Professor!" She greeted with a wave. The second year then went to stand off to the side, wondering what they might be doing during this lesson.
Ancient Runes was one of those classes that was an elective, but Elijah had taken it anyway. The way he saw it was that the more classes he took, the more his parents would actually think he was working hard and that is all he needed them to believe. When his grades were owled to him during the summer... well, he would deal with that time when it came.
Strangely enough the current Ancient Runes lesson was to be held outside, so Elijah made sure to wear his finest winter robes so that he looked smart AND drop dead gorgeous as well as a bit shivery.

As he approached the vegetable patch, he noticed the Gryffindor prefect off to the side a bit, charming flames into empty jars, non-verbally no less. He hadn't quite noticed it before, but she was rather attractive. Not as attractive as himself, of course, but he was certain that if she were to be seen standing next to him, he would only add to her own attractiveness. He was such a giver.
Continuing onward, he eventually found himself standing in front of her as she concentrated on her task at hand. "Whyyyy, hey there," he flashed her his charming smile, "What're you doinggg?" It was obvious what she was doing, of course, but girls loveddd to be asked obvious questions so that it would give them an opportunity to talk. To talk to the most handsome guy in Hogwarts, that is.

Addie wandered down to the vegetable patch for her Ancient Runes lesson. She had her big winter cloak on and green mittens on her hands and a big green scarf wrapped around her neck in order to keep her warm. Addie's little body didn't keep heat very well. Why did they have to do this lesson outdoors rather than indoors where she could climb a tree?
"Hi-i-i-i Professor," Addie said through chattering teeth. It was freezing outside. "Ummmmm. W-why are we out in the freeeezing cold? My b-body doesn't keep heat well." She asked stating the fact. It was very true after all. Since she was small her body didn't keep the heat it was supposed to. There were many problematic things that her short and petite body caused.

Ancient Runes...in a vegetable patch?
Dylan was oddly excited about this. He was beginning to enjoy these outdoor classes. The fresh air had been doing wonders for him...Even though he still didn't really appreciate the study of Ancient Runes.
The Slytherin was coming to terms with the fact that there were some things he'd never fully understand...This was just one of those things. Not to say he wasn't still going to attend classes. There was really nothing else to do. So, the lessons and lectures were a nice distraction from utter boredom!

Having seen the notice about Ancient Runes class being in the vegetable patch this time around, Gideon was prepared for the cold weather that was prevailant as the Scottish winter went into full effect. Thick robes were worn and his multicolor scarf was wrapped around his neck to keep out the chill as he made his way onto the grounds when the time was right. Even then it was a good thing he was used to this type of weather having grown up in Britain's northern country.
Finally he was at the patch and spotted the professor as well as the students who had already made it there including Kurumi who appeared to be assisting the man. "Good day Professor," he greeted with polite nod as he moved into the group and stood off to one side. The prefect wasn't sure the reason for the switch in locations other then the connection to nature but he figured it would come out at some point.
Angelina wondered why Ancient Runes class was in the vegetable patch. Whenever she thought of something it just couldn't be right. Knowing it would be a cold day out, she put her Slytherin scarf on and her coat. She never did well in cold. Whenever she was in the cold she felt like she couldn't move. That was probably because she discarded the cold and always kept warm. When she was satisfied she would be warm for the lesson and had everything, she headed to the Vegetable Patch.
When there she hugged herself, keeping the coldness out. Many may think she was being weird, but she was cold, deal with it. At the entrance of the Vegetable Patch she smiled at Professor Jenkins. "Hello Professor, how are you today," she asked.
Emmaline wondered why in the world Ancient Runes would take place in the vegetable patch. Being accustomed after all these years to the cold Scotland weather, she had wrapped herself up in a Gryffindor scarf and beanie, her hands chilly in the cloak pockets. Oh well, she liked Ancient Runes, it'd be worth it.

He nodded his head and gave a small smile in response to the Professor, just when he felt someone stand beside him and lamented about the cold. "You got that right." he replied glancing at the person beside him. Just then he heard the Runes Man instructed to Kurumi to conjure some bluebell flames. Oh yeah that was a great idea. Nerida skipped her way to the vegetable garden for the ancient ruins class. Wonder why Anicent Ruins is in the veggie garden. Still skipping as she came to the garden, she smiled up at the Professor and cheerily said Hello Professor Jenkins, wonderful day isnt it! Nerida was used to the cold, the Ravenclaw only had on her normal attire, no jacket, no scarf, nothing to shield her from the cold and even her robe was drapped over her bag. Still smiling but no longer skipping she looked around and saw Kurumi was putting some bluebell flames into some jars...Oh right not everyone liked the cold like her!
