On the bank next to the Lake a big sign with a giant horse shoe plastered on it has been thrust into the sand. Behind it the professors have staked out 8 different coloured croquet sticks in the sand in a slalom like fashion. Every student gets three horse shoes and attempts to throw it at the coloured sticks. These horse shoes have been charmed so that they are magically banished to the sticks, so please take care when aiming because it would be really unfortunate if one was to go hurling in a random direction and hurt someone. You have 3 attempts to get your shoes stuck to the sticks, so take a deep breathe, relax, aim then FIRE!... or just throw it as hard and as accurately as you can, like a normal person. Accidentally throwing the shoe into the lake won’t score you any points but maybe an angered giant squid that will show his head and flap a tentacle at you.

So if you are feeling lucky, are focused and have a good arm, then try this event for a chance to win commemorative tokens and bragging rights.

SPOILER!!: Prizes

The Rules:
Each student has 3 horse shoes, and therefore three attempts at glory.

You must RP throwing the horse shoes at the sticks. The sticks are coloured blue, green, orange, pink, red, purple, yellow and brown. Take your pick! (Don't forget to tell us which colour stick your horse shoe is banished to!)

You are allowed to throw more than one shoe around the same stick.

You need to RP 3 quality posts to banish all of your horse shoes. By "quality" we mean at least one good sized paragraph, 4 lines of text, and a bit of effort put into the posts.

No pushing, shoving or use of magic to gain an advantage will be tolerated!

The professors will be keeping score and the results will be announced at the end of the game.

Beezus was walking around the lake after all the games she had played on. It was all fun but it was all tiring too. But another game has yet caught her attention, and the big sign said that it Magical Horse Shoes. Oh come on, just who didn't love horses? Which reminds her, maybe she should tell her Aunt that they go to a place where they can ride horses next summer.

Now, back to the game. After reading the rules and composing herself, Beezus got herself three horse shoes and settled herself in the line where they'd aim to throw the horse shoes.

Inhaling, she relaxed her right hand which was holding her first horse shoe, aim and THROW!

Beezus froze and stared. Let it be in, let it be in..

And "Yes!" she exclaimed as she saw that her first horse shoe had banished into purple colored croquet stick.

Ooh, another game. And judging by the rules this one seemed to be a Muggle one too, because she remembered her boyfriend talking about it with her once. Zayden knew so much about Muggles, sometimes it was hard to believe that he was actually a Pureblood like her and not just one of them.

Picking up her three horse shoes, she looked at the sticks in the ground carefully. She wanted to shoot her horse shoes at the purple stick, because purple was her favourite colour.

Holding her first horse shoe in her right hand, she tried to focus all her attention onto the purple stick, willing it to reach the target. She let go, and watched the show fly in the air...

THWACK

She had done it! she pumped her fist in the air triumphantly.

Ira was walking around seeing others play games and all. She couldn't yet decided which game to play. Then she came across the game named, 'Magical Horse Shoes!' On first glance it appeared very much similar to the muggle game. Yeah, she would try this one first.

She read the rules pasted which she was familiar with. Then picking up her 3 horse shoes, she made her way to the front line from where she had throw her shoes.

Then which stick to choose? Orange or Brown? Then she decided on the yellow one. Carefully she took aim and threw the horse shoe.
SMACK!
There was her first win!

Oh! Kurumi knew this game! She used to play it in the summertime with her brothers when they played down by the river. Of course, they didn't have proper colored sticks like this and instead used twigs that they stuck in the ground...nor did they have actual horseshoes and instead used watermelon rinds. It was all her brothers' idea, not her.

Picking up a horseshoe, Kurumi looked at all the sticks. Well, her first choice for aim was rather obvious, was it not? Swinging her arm back and forth, Kurumi practice in line while she waited until it was her turn at the front. She squinted one eye and leaned forward a bit, swinging her arm now with more force.

1....2...3...NOW!

Kurumi released the horseshoe and it spun in the air. *CLANK!* It landed nicely around the red stick. Red for Gryffindor, of course.

Jezz stood there and read over the rules. So all she had to was throw the horse shoe...seemed easy enough. She grabbed the three she needed and looked at the colors. She really liked the pink and the purple and the red ones but wasn't sure if she would be able to do it. However, it never hurt to try.

One. Two. Three. She closed her eyes and gave a great almighty toss putting behind it as much strength at the little first year could. She heard a loud CLANK! and looked to see that it had not fallen on any of the three colors she liked but it had landed on the orange one. Well she still had two more tries.

Beezus watched for a moment as the other students took their chance on throwing the horse shoes. There was Ira and that girl on the Giant Lilypad jumping game and also Kurumi. She cheered a bit when the other students had shooted the horse shoes in those colored sticks.

However, when it was time for her turn once again. She turned seriously. She was aiming to be a part of the Quidditch team and being on the team meant that she should know how to shoot the ball towards the goal and this game she was playing right now was exactly that.

She held the horse shoe tightly, relaxed, exerted effort on her hand and !!!!!!

The horse shoe landed soundly around the green colored croquet stick!

"Yeah..I guess I'm lucky today." she whispered to herself.

Alright, horseshoes! Nate was pretty pumped for this, because it had been his substitute game for the dueling ring. Sure, he loved dueling with Jez in the Room of Requirement, but the Founders' Fandango dueling ring had too many rules: namely, rules in the first place. You can't put rules on a duel...

Refocusing, Nate looked out at the blue stick. That was his first target. "He lines up the throw..." he commentated to himself. Commentary was always fun. "...He slows down every system in his body to prepare for this shot. Nathaniel Stone, world champion Horseshoe Banisher, is ready to top his own record... And he shoots!" Nate flung the horseshoe with all his might as he yelled out his last line.

The little, curved piece of metal flew threw the air, flipping as it went, in a perfect arc towards the blue. The only problem was that the blue was of water, not of peg. "Darn..." Nate muttered as he heard the characteristic sploosh of the watery demise of a horseshoe.

Kurumi continued to practice the arm movement in line with her second horseshoe. Kurumi had a decent amount of upper arm strength thanks to kendo, but this was an entirely different movement. Not so much upward lobbing movement with a bamboo sword in the sport, it was all downwards.

When it was her turn at the front again, Kurumi decide to aim for the brown one. It was a little further away than her previous throw, so she needed to put some more strength in it. She took a deep breath and tossed the ring.

EEK! Kurumi squeaked as it became apparent that it was not going to reach the brown one but would fall short. Please hit something please hit something...

Thankfully, the horseshoe DID hit one of the poles, just not the one she had intended. Still, Kurumi smiled as her horseshoe was banished to the pink pole.

Umm...Which stick to pick? Hey..that rhymed!! Stick and Pick..'Stick-pick, Stick pick,' Laura said to herself as she read the rules and decided to participate in the contest.

Okay..Now which one was she going to pick. Well blue was her house colour. maybe blue? No..no..no..she thought..Maybe..yes!.She picked blue

She took a horseshoe and aimed at the blue stick. What if it went and fell in the lake? 'No..you're good at it, Laura,' she reassured herself. She threw the shoe at the stick! Phew! She got through the first round!!

Zhenya was trying to take everything in all at once, but it just wasn't working. There was simply too much!! She wandered over to something that looked like a bit of a rainbow. Being the kind of girl attracted to bright colours she decided to take a look. It was magical horse shoes!! yes!! I've always wanted to Play in the muggle version she thought to herself.

She went and got three horse shoes, then stepped up and looked around to decide what colour she wanted to go for. The first one she chose was her grandfathers favourite colour - blue!!

She concentrated on finding the right angle, lining everything up. Then she steadily pushed her arm back the. Forward, throwing the horse shoe in a low underarm throw. It wasn't a hard throw, but it had just enough force to meet with the other part making a clang. It caught!! She jumped up and down with excitement. Two left!

Jezzabelle took a step up fro her second shot. She could put more effort behind the toss and she new it. Holding tightly to the horse she she swung her arm back and forth in practice. If she could do it right she would get that pink one.

Taking a deep cleansing and calming breath she was ready to go. One. To-ho. Three. She let it go and watched as it landed around the pink one with a loud sounds CLANK! Despite the people watching she proceeded to dance joyfully. Feeling accomplished for having managed landing on the one she wanted in the first place.

So, her aim had been a little off the previous throw, but at least she had still managed to get her horseshoe around a pole instead of missing them all together. Kurumi tapped her remaining horseshoe against her leg as she waiting for her third and final turn to come around. When it did, she looked at all the poles and her eyes locked on the purple one, the one that matched her eyes. Treyen's favorite color was purple, he had told her so once when he had complimented her eyes.

But then, they drifted a bit and landed on the brown one. While is was a sort of dull color to some, it also represented steadfastness, simplicity, friendliness, dependability, and health. Those were all good things, so why not aim for that one...even if it was all the way in the back. Kurumi knelt down a bit and began to try and figure out at what angle and with how much force to toss it. Thinking that she had the proper calculations in mind, Kurumi let the horseshoe go and smiled as it made another CLINK noise as it too was banished.

Three for three!

Excited that her first throw had been successful, Ira tried with a second one. She took her second horse-shoe and readied herself to throw it.

Taking aim, she told herself, on the count of three... one.. two.. three! Go! Saying so Ira threw the shoe and looked to see where it would land. She wanted to hit the blue stick but no, her horse shoe didn't hit the blue stick, instead it went and hit the pink one. Ugh! She didn't like pink color!

Still this counted as a successful attempt, right? At least, she had hit some color!

Zhenya was holding her second horse shoe. Where to put it? she thought. Hmm... there were so many colours, and she was having a hard time choosing. She thought that she might aim for the red one, because that was her mother's favourite colour. But that one looked tricky to get. She looked around to see what ones would be easiest to get, but had to shake herself! It's just a game! A fun game! She reminded herself. Why not aim for the red one?

She did! She lined up her throw again, trying to make sure she would get it there. Then she threw her arm back, then forward, released it and then saw it connect to the Red one! She smiled at herself as she realised she might have a good aim. Maybe that was it! She had one more to go... but where to put it?

Boy, she really was lucky today. Very lucky that is. Two attempts and both got in. Beezus grinned as she took hold of her third horse shoe. Last attempt needed to be the best, right? So, she firmly grasped the horse shoe and targeted the blue colored croquet stick.

3,2,1 and.........

"NO!" She suddenly miffed. The horse shoe, her last horse shoe.. It didn't go in. She frowned and smirked. "So much for having the best last attempt," Then she walked off with a shrug.

Her last horse shoe and she had to throw it now or never. Well not really never but she wasn't going to hold up the line because she was nervous. With a few practice swings she nodded to herself and took a deep breath. Swing forward and backward. Forwards and backwards. Forwards and backwards.

She let go and with a resounding CLANK the horse shoe had landed on the red pole. She did a little victory dance because she had managed to get all three horse shoes wrapped around a pole, even if she didn't get them all where she had wanted them.

This time Ira would hit the red stick for sure! She wanted to hit it.

Picking up her last horse shoe, she took aim. She figured the amount of force she had to put in and went for it at the count of three. One.. Two.. Three Go! Smack!

There went her horse shoe against the red stick Yayy! Ira jumped up and down, unable to control her joy! She had hit the red one. Red for Gryffindor!

It's time for some practice of throwing horse shoe. It was totally the one that Tiffany was looking forward to. A very simple but interesting game.

She took her first horse shoe with her. Well...where should she put it to? The sticks were all in different colors which made the whole thing seemed to be more enjoyable with the fascinating colors. She decided to throw all her three horse shoe into her favorite colors. So now all she had to do was to hold on her horse shoe tight and threw it into the pink stick. Right.

She swung her arm and let it go. She closed her eyes, she just couldn't believe the truth if she had missed it till she heard the sound of horse shoes going against the stick. She let one of her eyes opened and there she saw she had succeeded. It had landed on the pink one! She was so happy that she almost yelled.

Laura kept thinking about her discovery - that stick and pick rhymed! It wasn't like nobody knew it..It was just that nobody who was playing this game had noticed it!! How silly could she possibly be!!!!

Now it was the game-time!! She picked up a horseshoe and threw it at thepink one. Yipee!!! Lucky again!!!!

Zhenya was up for her last one. Dang - she wanted to try to get one on all of them. Maybe another day!

She walked around the front of the line wondering where she should try for... she thought she would try for the purple one. Maybe she would get it.

"Come on," she muttered to herself, and flung it under arm. Doink! It connected with the purple one and she was very happy. That was it though, and she looked around wondering if she could do it again, just for fun.

Now for the third one? Which one to choose? Pink? No she wanted to try a different colour. For the same reason, she didn't pick blue, though it was her favourite colour.Umm...maybe...purple!!!!

Vlimia looked around, eager to start her first game. Oh, Magical Horse Shoes! That looked fun! She walked over, and picked up three horseshoes. Vlim looked for things to throw them over and saw croquet sticks of all different colours. As a Ravenclaw, she instantly wanted to get one over the blue stick, as a Maze her intincts told her to get one over the green stick, and as Vlimia she wanted to get a horseshoe over the purple one, just because it was her favourite colour. She vowed to attempt at getting one over each. First up: the purple stick. Vlim threw a horseshoe towards the desired colour and watched as it landed right on the purple stick. YES!! One down, two to go.

Tayla headed towards the Lake, attracted by the giant horse shoe. "Oooh!!" she exclaimed excitedly, seeing students throw horse shoes towards coloured sticks.

Tayla read the rules carefully then got ready with her three horse shoes. "I wonder which colours I'll aim at..." she thought. "Hmmm..."

She took a comfortable stance and bent slightly forward, ready to give as good a throw as she could. "One, two, three!"

Tayla threw her first horse shoe towards the blue stick, blue being her favourite colour.

She held her breath for a split second, hoping she got it right. And...

"Yes!!!" Tayla jumped for joy. "Got my first one!"

Vlimia looked at the blue stick now. Ravenclaw pride! She threw it hard, and watched hopefully as the horseshoe spun towards the desired croquet stick. Then, by some odd change of the wind, the horseshoe flopped on top of the orange stick. Oh well, at least it went over something. Vlimia got ready for her last throw, just a little dissapointed about the orange fiasco.
