Ariella bounded towards the common room, full of food and beyond excited to be back at Hogwarts. "Angel’s Trumpet!" she said firmly as she reached the portrait. It swung open and she clambered inside to the warm glow of the common room. She was finally home.

Noticing one of her good friends from last term, Ariella grinned. "Rose!" she exclaimed, rushing over to give her a hug. "How are you?! How was your summer? I haven't talked to you in forever!"

For anyone ^_^

Adam smiled as he entered the familiar common room before plopping down on one of the open couches. Now that he was finished with the OWLs he had a bit of time to relax this year before having to worry about the NEWTs. Adam surveyed the room for any familiar faces, not noticing any at the moment, and some new faces. Hmmm

Holmesian Feline 01-04-2012 10:52 PM

Anyone?

Oh it was good to be back!

Had Gideon thought of that phrase enough already? Well it was true and as he watched Kurumi being a dear mother-lion-prefect leading the new and transfured lions to their home away from home, he couldn't help but feel the year was already starting out just right. He followed the crowds at his own pace, a tall shadow above the somewhat shorter students that preceeded him.

Eventually he came to the familiar painting, smiling absently as the Fat Lady as she awaited each passerby to give her the password. Right...password...what was it this year? The fifth year pausing a moment before the frame to remember it.

"Angel's Trumpet"

In response, the Fat Lady nodded before the painting opened up allowing Gideon access into the Gryffindor common room. As he took his first steps inside the red and gold covered room, he looked around at the students already gathered there, their faces not too familiar to him despite some having been returning students.

Ugg... he still had work to do opening up to more people.

Ariella looked up to see a fellow Gryffindor, Gideon, making his way into the common room. Wanting to be friendly, she lifted her arm for a wave. "Hi Gideon! Did you have a good summer?" She had never really gotten the chance to know Gideon last term, but she supposed that it was never a bad time to make new friends.

Hearing his name, Gideon turned in the direction it came from to see a semi-familiar girl waving at him. Ariella...right? he mused to himself remembering her name from run-ins in passing or at least in class. "Hi..." he greeted back with a soft smile, moving closer to where she was standing with another girl.

"Um... it was pretty good," he answered with a tilt of his head back and forth unconsciously making his curls move slightly. "Spent some time at home with the family and visited my brother in Romania." That had been fun, he only wished he had managed to bring Kurumi along but the plans had never been put in place. Besides he had heard from Selina that his fellow 5th year had been crazy busy already.

"How was yer's"

Quentin yawned as she walked, it had been a long journey and a fabulous feast, but now she had to unpack before bed. "Angel’s Trumpet" she said to the Fat Lady's portrait. The common room was already crowded with students, she didn't hover but went strait up the girls stairs and into the forth year dormitory.

Ariella returned the smile, a nauseous feeling erupting in her stomach. How was her summer? That was the question she had been dreading.

No way did she want to bring up anything that happened over her summer. Her summer was the worst summer anyone could ever imagine. Her sister running away. Her brother randomly announcing his marriage to that stupid, trashy girl from central London. Her parents fighting about useless things nonstop. And yes. All of this happened in one three-month time period.

"That sounds cool! I've always wanted to go to Romania," she said, perking up her voice to hide the disappointment in her family. "Mine was...really swell," she lied, quickly thinking of something to say. "We went to Ireland to visit my dad's parents. It was loads of fun!" Well, that wasn't exactly a lie. They did go to Ireland in July.

"I'm sorry," she added, just hearing the bit about her Grandfather. "Yep, I also have a third-year sister, Rose- we're all named after flowers. I-It was a th-thing my m-mum wanted," she blinked, her eyes filling with tears. "Yeah, I've promised myself not to get injured, this year," she grinned. Maybe she'd even get in the team. Lilly had practiced all summer.

"I hope he does," Tayla gave an encouraging smile. She decided to talk more about Quidditch to cheer Lilly up. "Good luck with not getting injured. I'm a bit nervous myself. I've never played in an actual team before. Do you have a broom of your own?"

Astrid was letting out a weird purring noise. “Umm…” Daisy made a funny face at the chameleon-newt and then shook her head. Usually he didn’t take to people so well and by most people she meant her brothers, but then, who would blame Astrid? Her brother’s were nuts. “He shouldn’t,” she said shoving her socks down around her ankles and scratching lower on her calf. “Just don’t leave any licorice in your sheets and you should be good.”

There a hissing noise and Daisy knew that didn’t come from Astrid. It came from behind her. She turned in her chair and peered over the top at a younger girl sitting in a chair. “Excuse me,” she stated raising one eyebrow. “But did you just hiss?”

Why haven't she thought of those before? Of asking help from the portraits and not always relying on books? Of course it would be nicer to interview someone with a first hand experience rather than reading those published. So there's a reason for her not to eat anything on her bed unless she wants to wake up screaming in the morning because of Astrid. As she stared at the Chameleon-newt, which was bright red in color, she too noticed the hissing sound but thought it came from Astrid and so she didn't mind but her friend noticed a girl and asked her if she was the one hissing. She watched the girl

The girl who just entered run to give the girl who hissed a hug. Rose! Obviously that is her name. Tennessee just smiled at the girl since she was engrossed with chatting to her friend. She went back to petting the chameleon-newt. She should just remember their names.

After an eventful day of just taking in all the sights, smells, and sounds of Hogwarts, Mike finally makes it up the stairs to a huge picture of a lady. "Angel's Trumpet", Mike says to the portrait. The Painting moves, revealing a large entry way into a larger room. Mike, walks in, and takes in the scene. There are many couches, with pillows around the room. He walks up to one of the couches, and just plops down. He is still a little full from the meal, and the day of excitement is finally catching up to him. He allows himself to relax, and listen to the small talk going on around him. He closes his eyes, and begins to doze off into the voices and and and warmth of the room. He feels like this can definitely be a great time.

hello lions <3 to those quoted and to anyone else :D

"Hello everyone," Kurumi said with a slight yawn. She had stayed up much later than she had intended to working on the layout for the Gryffindor Gazette, but at least it was done and she had managed to finish things off with Selina's help and had received Professor Bentley's seal of approval, which meant that it was now ready to be placed in the common room for any lion to grab and read at their leisure.

Spinning around after having set them down on the table under the notice board, Kurumi frowned a bit when she saw Rose looking rather disgruntled on one of the chairs.

"Don't make that face," she laughed, signaling that she was only teasing. "You look like a Slytherin with that scowl."

And...speaking of Adams...where was the other one? Not that she was really complaining. She felt less stressed and on edge with him not around.

Moving on a bit more into the common room, Kurumi covered her mouth to prevent any giggling that may occur from the peaceful sight of a boy who was falling asleep in one of the crimson plush sofas.

Slowly, Kurumi tip toed her way over to him and softly tapped his shoulder. "As comfortable as the sofa is, I am sure your bed would be much more comfortable," she giggled.

Quentin stopped a few steps up, she should probably at least try and meet a few people before lessons started and her time was limited. She sighed and turned to walk back down. She really was an idiot sometimes. As she stepped back into the common room she noticed something odd.

There was an older girl standing there, mid-wave, looking like she was about to say something, "Sorry, were you about to say something?" she asked politely. Normally people tended to avoid Quentin, she wasn't sure if this girl was waving at her or not.

Kurumi was pleasantly surprised when the girl turned around and came back to the common room, which meant that she finished her wave and didn't feel too ridiculous now.

"I was just going to say hello," she replied, lowering her hand to her waist. "I don't think we got the chance to meet properly on the train or at the feast. I'm Kurumi." She offered the girl a small bow and then remembered the etiquette here was to shake hands and not bow. Merlin, Muggle Studies was going to be an...interesting lesson for her. She then hastily offered her hand to the girl, her cheeks blushing ever so slightly.

Leila came into the Common Room, she had heard things about it from her parents, but this was 10 times as good, she couldn't wait to get to know people, it would be fun, she went to sit down but sat on someone, she jumped up quickly, "Oh, my, I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there, I just, are you alright?" she asked, Leila felt so bad, so decided to try and engage in conversation with him, "So, hey, I'm so sorry about that, I'm Leila by the way, Leila Potter-Nightingale, you can call me Leila or Leia I dont really mind,"

"Angel's Trumpet" Helga spoke quietly. This terms password was a bit of strange one. "You may enter brave Gryffindor" The portrait swung forward and revealed a walkway just visible in the nights light. The dark hole was silent as Helga walked through it was later than curfew but she had sneaked out to study in the room of requirment. The study tables in the Gryffindor Common Room were now empty, all Helga wanted to do was flop into her four poster bed in the girls dorms.

Rose laughed and hugged her back, before shrugging. 'I'm alright, my summer was alright, how about yours?' she grinned, answering all questions at once. Eh...

"That's good! Mine was...eventful," she said matter-of-faculty. She didn't feel like she needed to hide her feelings from Rose. She seemed like the person to understand. "I'm so excited to be back at Hogwarts! You trying out for Quidditch this year?"

Unaware of the discomfort his question presented to his companion, Gideon meerly listened to the verbal response he was given. "Aye it is...especially when we were able to see a dragon he was helping with," he said with a nod as he agreed. "Ireland's nice as well." Anything other then Scotland and London even was nice since it was different.

Ariella breathed a silent sigh of relief, glad that her voice hadn't shown anything that was brewing inside her. "He helps with dragons? How cool!"

When the door opened again, Kurumi smiled and waved at Gideon as he made his way in looking like a mooncalf in headlights. "Hey Gideon," she said with a faint smile. "You just come from Quidditch sign-ups?" She assumed that he was trying out for the team. Too bad she wouldn't be there to see any bickering that might happen between he and Selina during practices. He thought he knew Selina on the pitch, but he really had NO idea.

Gideon had been a little distracted at the moment...something that was bound to happen when it sunk in that one's girlfriend was going to run try-outs. She was gonna run him ragged, pull out all stops to push him...he was sure of it. Hearing his name, he blinked and turned to focus on Kurumi. "Hey Kurumi," he greeted in return with friendly smile.

"Aye, I did," the fellow fifth year answered with a nod. "Its gonna be interesting this term."

Noticing Gideon talking to Kurumi about Quidditch, she decided to chime in. "You're going to try out? Me, too. It's about time we Lions win the Quidditch cup! Maybe we'll have some luck this year."

"Angel's Trumpet!" Maxwell said with excitement to see his Common Room again. He walked in and took a seat on the floor near the fire and started reading one of his Animagus study books, He normally had one on hand He opened the page that He kept bookmarked with a blue rose He received from Josie last year. Maybe I should move on. He thought I'm not saying i want to go out and meet someone now, I'm not even sure i really like girls that much. i mean they're great friends, but they're not all Josie. Maxwell was determined to make this year even better than last with or without her.

Quentin moved forward a few steps and took the offered hand, "Kia ora, I'm Quentin." she smiled, "It's nice to meet you"

She had to notice how the other girl bowed before blushing and offering a hand, meaning she'd probably moved from another country too. She had known she wouldn't be the only one, and she was very excited to learn about others cultures.

Prue walked in flopping down on a chair. Others were talking all around her, so she simply sat there in confusion as she accidentally starting picking up on others conversations. All the things they were talking about where starting to get rather confusing, until one word caught her full attention "Kia ora" she whispered to herself looking up at the girl who she now noticed was talking to Kurumi. Standing up she walked over to them. "You're from New Zealand as well aren't you?" she asked. She didn't mean to be nosy, but those were two words that she'd always remember after growing up in New Zealand after her fathers death.
