Having trouble with some pesky homework? Come in and see if someone can help you figure it out. This is where you can ask for help from your fellow classmates, but please... no copying from one another.
Kennedy leaned back on his chair. The part where the Head Girl had called them all a family kind of threw him off the wagon. How could they all be family when people assulted others or were disrepectful, but then it hit him. He's never been part of a group or even knows how to be united with his house. He knew it was because of what he had lived through in the Muggle world, that it made it harder for him to believe this house could even be called a family.
It did make sense though. They all lived together, ate together attended classes together AND look it all of this. It looked like a big family get-together and this was his first time attending one. This was what after all gave him his voice. "For starters we can stop misbehaving." He said WE because they were a we, right? Right. "Also, when we get homework, do it and maybe even asking professors if they need help with anything." That should bring their points out of the negatives, right? Ugh, too many rights and his head was malfunctioning because of ALL the delicious food in front of him.

Oh.
They were being lectured for their behaviour. Not that Nora had any part in that loss of points. But still, the head of house and the prefects/head boy/girl were right. They really needed all those points back, as soon as possible.
But Nora decided to stay quiet, since she didn't find anything smart to say.
Desiree listened intently to what the Head Girl Evelyn had to say They couldn't eat yet.. but she could handle that, this was obviously more important. Unsure what to do, she decided raising her hand would be best
"Well I think in order to gain respect, we need to show respect." the young Slytherin replied somewhat unsure. And the points would follow from there.

And that...that effects everyone's image here in Slytherin."
Taking a deep breath, she leaned against the table with her hands, looking around. "While I'd hate to see our chances at showing we are a great and amazing house go down the drain, we can't move forward until we realize how we can achieve doing so. So, what do you all think? How can we build our points back up and at the same time, show that the house of Salazar Slytherin is worthy of being respected as a house...as well as all of us individually?"
Raven totally agreed with Head Girl's statement.
Slytherin's history has shown that we are just as smart as Ravenclaws, just as loyal and hardworking as Hufflepuffs, and just as brave as Gryffindors.
Then Raven raised her hand and tried to answer the Head girl question
"To gain more points." she said "We need to asnwer question from the professor at the class, faster."
Harlow wobbled over to him and sat in the empty chair next to him. "I hate flying," she squeaked out. Her entire family was fliers. Her grandparents were both of the Ghana national team. Her father flew for Egypt and her brother was the youngest person to play for a national team. And she could barely keep from slipping off her broom. She didn't know how they did it. She scooted closer to Regulus and snuggled up against his side. It was just comforting to be next to someone.
Regulus slipped his arm around the younger student, trying to keep her calm. This was one thing he would NEVER do to anyone else but Harlow was one that he would need to keep an eye on and one that seemed to gravitate towards him since the beginning of school.
On the other hand, flying was something that not everyone took kindly too, though he was pretty good at it, not that he was going to show off or anything just yet. He gave a stiff nod of his head, letting her know that he understood and maybe they could talk about it later. Right now, it was boring meeting time; a time to chew on the butts of those who lost points and yet were so quickly to point out just who they were.
And DAMN! What in bloody hell was that smell? Reggie wrinkled his face, obviously frowning to the little witches who would allow such a smell in the room. Too bad that smell couldn't follow them all the time, or maybe it would be better to just lock them in a closet and allow them to smell it all on their own. He laughed at the torturing thought, knowing they would probably pass out if it happened and knowing his thoughts were more along the sadistic side...quite like his usual self.
"I know that we are all Slytherins here, and what is the one thing that Slytherins always want?" Yeah! Like give them time to answer his question...NOT! "I like to win and I will win at everything I do!" The same frown graced his face as he rolled his eyes and mumbled to himself. "I will win...make a lasting note on that statement and shove it..."

Evelyn was right. There is a need for them to realize that whether they like it or not, just because they're Slytherins they can do whatever it is they want. Jonathan listened as Evelyn tried to tell her side. For most, it was indeed well said. It's a shame that last term THEY WON everything and now, just a few days after the term started they lost A LOT. If this keeps up people are going to think that Slytherins are you know, bad. Which is not really something we should be proud of.
Slytherins are suppose to be cunning and ambitious and yet all they have done was get caught and lose points.
Then the question was raised: How can we build our points back up? "We can start with coming to class as early as possible." yeah, that should be a start in gaining those points back. "And stop giving ourselves detention" that could be another. yeah, it's nice to go crazy and be daring but leave it during experiments in classes. The teacher would be glad enough to help them with such.

Great. Now everone knew who'd let off the stinkbomb. And seeing all the glares being sent her direction, one thing became clear to Sky. She was finding herself a nice hidden alcove to sleep in tonight and maybe posting a nice big I'm sorry on the notice board. Gah, why did she have to let her temper get the best of her? Or at least yell instead of throwing stinkbombs? She put it out of her mind for now and listened to the Heads' speech.

Katrina sat down and listened to the Head Girl and Boy. She raised her hand to answer their question.
"We shouldn't be late in class and we should obviously respect the professors," she said. "When it comes to earning house points, we shouldn't prank anyone especially with other professors and students around. We could pass our homework on time and listen. Those can also help in not getting detention."
Aurora gaped... she had done nothing wrong! She had merely been protecting herself from the stink bomb! She... That was... This... This was SO UNFAIR! And she was the one who had earned most house points back already and.... THIS WAS TOTALLY NOT FAIR IN THE SLIGHTEST!!!!!! She folded her arms and opened her mouth to say something then immediately shut it again... no point making this worse Quinn...
She glared daggers at the first year. She would definitely have her revenge.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Why was it smelling so aweful in here? Daichi sniffed the food in front of him but eventhough he smelled it there too it wasn't as bad as when he looked at his side. EEEEEWWWWWW?! Had someone thrown a stinkbomb or something? This was disgusting.
Trying not to breathe too much, which eventually failed because he HAD to breathe in order to stay alive, Daichi heard Professor Lafay give detention to Aurora and some other kid. He wondered why the top earner of the school had gotten detention but he was wise enough to keep his mouth closed, specially at this meeting.
He looked over as the head girl and boy started their speech. Daichi already had an idea what this meeting was about and hearing their words he was right. As most of the students answered the question from the head boy, Daichi figured that he needed to say something too. He raised his hand as if he were in class and when it was his turn his blushed slightly before answering.
"I agree with the others so far. For starters , we shouldn't be late for class , it will give a much better impression of our house especially now that there are new mean Professors." He fumbled with his fingers under the table. "I know it was the first days of school and the first years got probably lost along their way to classes but i think that everyone should by now atleast know the routes to their classes, or when they don't, atleast learn them." That didn't mean that you couldn't get lost anymore. Only last evening, Daichi himself had taken a wrong turn and ended up in the astronomy tower for no reason.
"I also think that each and everyone of us should be respectful at each other AND at our elder. For example, when someone enters a classroom they should always greet the professor if said person is already in the room." Personally he thought it was normal to greet Professor's before their lesson but apparently a few didn't. "We are all proud to be in the Slytherin house right? And everyone is like a family here" even if some hated each other it was still their family for the rest seven years. "So we should also be thoughtful of the others before doing anything ...stupid... Because like others had said, if one breaks the rules , everyone has to pay the price right?
"As for earning the points back, i think that by answering the questions in class is a good start. And giving the homework to the appointed Professor on time." There would be alot of other things in which they could earn house points but that mostly was up to the Professor to decided wether they gave them or not. "But most of all i think that students should atleast enjoy their stay at Hogwarts but within reason." Meaning no stinkbomb throwing in front of a Head of House. I mean, SERIOUSLLY?!
He stopped talking as he felt his cheeks blazing up. He had never talked this much before...okay lie , normally he wouldn't shut up but he hadn't talked this much in front of a big crowd. Can he has food noaw?

As she waited for everyone to join in, the Slytherin girl smirked over at Destiny and Marie who showed up. Truth be told, it was quite a relief to see them here. On the other hand, noticing Professor Lafay, Evelyn sat up straight in her chair, smiling somewhat. "Good afternoon, Professor." she said politely before scanning the rest of the tables. No one seemed to be eating yet...at least, not until she had took that split moment to look the other way and became distracted.
Salander seemed to have taken care of it though, however, Evelyn had witnessed the little event with Aurora and the new girl. Did...did the first year just set off a stinkbomb? In the presence of the Head Boy and Girl, AND her Head of House? Just what was going through her mind when she did that?
It seemed she could only become more and more annoyed as this meeting went on. Something had to change. She listened to all those who answered Salander's question.
They all seemed to be on the right track. Losing points, the behavior of the Slytherin house these last few days, ground rules, and ways to get their points (and pride) back. "Yes. This meeting is in fact about our loss of points and behavior. However, we'll be discussing ways of getting these points back as well as a few other topics. You will not be allowed to eat until we all have a full understanding of how to behave in our classes and as Slytherins." They couldn't change the past. Only the future. Standing up, she eyed everyone to make sure they didn't even think about eating as of yet. No, they had to wait.
Looking towards Sierra, Evelyn stood up and raised a brow, not at all amused. "Yes, you do." She herself may have not liked it, quite noticeable by the way she scrunched up her nose every now and then, but it was all in the learning process. "This, right here..." She gestured to the girl that had thrown the stinkbomb, as well as Aurora. "Is just an example of the behavior we are talking about. You all should learn right here and right now that your house, whether you like the people in it or not, is your family here at Hogwarts. One of you messes up, everyone in your house pays the price."
"However, just because we may have 'tumbled down the hill' a little, that does not mean we are so weak where we can't help eachother get back up and start climbing again with even more determination than before. Marilyn eyed everyone giving answers...and to be honest, they were good ideas. Everyone was missing one key point, though.
Raising her hand like she would had she been in class, the blonde frowned. "I think we're all forgetting one very important thing...The new professors we've had thus far seem to be..." She cast a remorseful eye on their Head of House, not wanting what she was about to say to offend the older woman. "...Psychopaths. Is anything we do going to be good enough?"

Maria smiled. "Cool! I remember last year, I was so lost and confused" she said. She shrugged. "No idea"
- Oh yeah, I'm really really confused. I wake up earlier to show myself around and to find my way to class before I get late. My orientation is not the best so I just tend to follow people around too - she said. Some people thought she was weird for following them around and not saying a word. She didn't mean to be too shy to talk to them.

Lua was looked to her side startled. She wasn't expecting a boy sitting next to her. Hello. HEY!
Destiny saw that! Yup, she saw all those people stuffing their face before Evelyn or Sal said it was okay to. If she couldn't eat, then no one could. And they better not think about eating the chocolate. That was the only reason she was really there for. She was a good Slytherin, hadn't even lost house points in such a long time. She was just about to YELL at them food-eaters, but it seemed Sal had a good eye, and got to them before she could. Way to go, Sal. Way to go.
And since she was too busy eying up the food and the people eating it, she missed the whole dungbomb throwing. Luckily, Sal and Lafay (when did she get there!?!?!) took notice and.. seriously.. Destiny just needed to eat chocolate.
Stroking her fake moustache some more, she leaned back in the seat as Evelyn talked. And talked. And talked. She had to suppress a snort at the mention of tumbling down a hill. There were all Slytherins in the room, they all pushed eachother. But, she wasn't going to mention that. No. She was going to sit there and think of ways of building their points back up. And of course, a way to make the Slytherin house become respected.
Her hand shot up in the air. "Profess-- I mean, Evelyn!" How EMBARRASSING. "I know what we have to do!'' Leaning forward, she lowered her hand and her voice. "We need to take out the competition."
No other houses meant they would get all the housepoints. It was perfect.

So, it is about their attitudes! She has expected the meeting was for this. Perhaps she really should take up Divination for the next term. And that familiar smell... Who in the wide world would have the guts to throw stinkbomb right in front of Lafay?! He or she is likely braver than the bravest Gryffindor. Seriously.
How to earn back those points... "Don't be late to class. Be sure to sleep early so you wouldn't oversleep," says Aiden lazily while playing with the silver utensils. Oh, and one more thing. "I suggest that we should take extra precautious on our actions in Professor Schirmer's, and Professor Glass' classes." Why not? Those two are the top points taker!
“Yeah,” said Melchior. As Melchior took a seat next to Sarah, he noticed her frustration. It seemed as though her skirt was bothering her? Or her legs? He wasn’t quite sure what the problem might be.
“Are you okay?” he asked. Seeing that he wasn’t being specific, he pointed toward her skirt. Maybe it was her skirt???
“Hi Eris!” said Melchior as he got up next to Sarah. He gave smile and a wave to the blueish-grey eyed girl. Sarah must have made a lot of friends! It’s funny how she’s always introducing him to someone new.
“It’s a shame that we can’t eat yet. But come sit with us Eris, I think the meeting might start soon. We have a lot of people here so it should soon…..”
"I'm fine," she grumbled, "I just really hate skirts. There are so many things you can't do in them. Not to mention, you always have to cross your legs! You are soo lucky you get to wear pants."
Sarah looked up at the Head boy and girl. It seemed they were talking, "Yuuupp, the meeting is starting soon. Like, now."
Regulus slipped his arm around the younger student, trying to keep her calm. This was one thing he would NEVER do to anyone else but Harlow was one that he would need to keep an eye on and one that seemed to gravitate towards him since the beginning of school.

Harlow was grateful that Regulus was comforting her and not calling her a baby or something like that. She slipped her arm thin around around his back barely able to reach around to his other side. He smelled like cut grass and fresh soap. Just like her dad. She wondered if all boys smelled that like.
She almost chocked on that horrible smell and covered her nose with the sleeve of her white jumper. "Is that smell even legal?" she asked with a slight frown on her face. Those girls should be ashamed of themselves for that one. "This is why we keep losing points. This wasn't the time and really not the place to be setting of those disgusting things." she said angrily.
Her poor little nose!

Orchid was bored, but she understood fully, and gave her complete attention. "Stop showing up late for classes would be a good start." She said after raising her hand.
The meeting had started and Lana and her friends quickly stopped chatting and their attention was on the Head Girl. She was making a speech.
Of course it's about our point loss...
The Head Girl asked if anyone had any suggestions as to gaining our points back.
Lana raised her hand. Am I supposed to raise my hand? She looked embarassed. "Umm, I think we should start internally. I mean.. look at how we're treating each other. Like you said, we're a family and of course we will have our bad moments. But it seems like all we have are those. We need to gain respect for each other and help one another out."

Geraldine almost fainted and gagged at smelling that..... oh so AWFUL!! smell. Thank Merlin Professor Lafay cleaned the air, though seeing the professor AGAIN made Geraldine a bit uneasy.
The meeting has officially started and Geraldine couldnt help but agree with the head girl, she was right about them being a family and stuff but you know, you couldnt help but maybe have a little brawl with the others since others are so annoying.
Geraldine was a bit hesitant but in the end decided to raise her hand to answer the prefect's question.."I think that we wont keep losing points if everyone behaved themselves, become punctual, respect their elders specifically the professors...."especially the scary-ones "and maybe comply with the assignments and stuff...". After saying or telling her answer Geraldine sat down and eyed the GLORIOUS CHOCOLATE FONDUE,she wasnt at all interested at any other food prepared, except maybe for some drinks, but if would be better if there were CHOCOLATE flavored drinks. She wasnt hungry at all, anyway, she just ate in the Great Hall, but CHOCOLATE was a different thing, with this in mind Geraldine cant wait to start eating.
Maddy had no idea about that rule "Aaaah, on no I hope I dont loose any house points for that". She did not want to be the first Slytherin to loose house points twice.
Do you know what you got in to? So many colors leave me blind
Nick sat quietly in the seat across from his friend Harlow the smell of the tasty foods was suddenly ruined by the smell of a stink bomb He made a face and covered his nose until it was taken care of. ONce the meeting was back on track he listened closely.
Eris watched the banter occur the room, of course, her fellow students had repeated the same idea many times, so adding any more information would have made the boyish witch feel that they were beating the dead horse.
It boiled down to Don't show up late
Answer questions in class even if it's just a guess
Treat others with respect (We already know we are perfect, why give others the attention of disrespect? Or grace a bothersome student with more than a glance?)
Do your work, greatness has to start somewhere.
The information abridged in her head allowed the dark-haired witch to nod to herself decisively next to Melchior and Sarah. They wouldn't lose anymore house points! By the tiny rally cry occurring in the depths of her mind, Slytherin would win, because really...there is no reason why they would lose.
Ariana Just sat there at her table alone & listened to The Head Boy & Girl talk. She Knew it was about House Points, Better for Ariana to just sit back and Listen to the meeting. Ariana loved her house but everyone seemed soo Mean & heartless, she was a Little better than that. at least she cared.. kinda.. the Point wasn't Ariana it was her House her so called "Family"

Maddy cringed at the words some of us make poor choises knowing the head girl was reverting to her. She had been one to break the rules too many times. Time to smarten up if she wanted to be a respectable Slytherin, this would take a lot of work. But yes, Maddy perked up when the Head girl said our scratches and bruises are what make us united and we learn from our mistakes. Yup, Maddy sounded like a rightful Slytherin indeed.

True. So so true.
"And how exactly do you suppose we 'take out the competition'?" Evelyn was in fact all for it, but she couldn't very well say her ideas. One, Professor Lafay was right there, and two, she had this badge so she had to be good and all this year.

"Well I think in order to gain respect, we need to show respect." the young Slytherin replied somewhat unsure. And the points would follow from there.

Those can also help in not getting detention."

How to earn back those points... "Don't be late to class. Be sure to sleep early so you wouldn't oversleep," says Aiden lazily while playing with the silver utensils. Oh, and one more thing. "I suggest that we should take extra precautious on our actions in Professor Schirmer's, and Professor Glass' classes." Why not? Those two are the top points taker!

I hope everyone's not staring at me. I hope everyone's not staring at me...

Listening to everyone's response, she nodded slowly until she formulated a small list in her mind. "Good. At least we are all noticing and agreeing on mostly the same ideas. Showing up to classes late seems to be our biggest trouble at the moment. If you see someone still asleep while you know they have a class, please...wake them up. Nothing says 'We Don't Care' more than showing up to classes late. I understand that some of us are still getting used to the giant castle and trying not to get lost, so if you need to, pair up with an older student who can show you around. We have something called Serpent Sidekicks here in Slytherin house that you can sign up for which is pretty much older students pairing up with younger and new students. There is no shame in asking for help." In fact, she made a mental note to sign up later to help out.
"Also please, and I can't stress this enough, read up on what the rules are for each class you take. This will kill us in points also if we don't follow them. Speaking of classes, participating in lessons and doing our homework is what will earn us our major points. If you can't make it to a lesson, you still have the opportunity to do the homework and trust me when I say this...it won't kill you to take an hour out of your day to do your homework. Some of them may seem tedious to do, but for the sake of Slytherin house, do it anyways." Running a hand through hair, she glanced over to Lafay for a moment before continuing on.
"However, like some of you mentioned, we can also ask Professors if they need any help with anything. This is another way we can gain our house points, but don't be disappointed if you don't receive any. I'm rather sure the Professor will remember you taking time out of your life to help them in some way or another, and that puts us in the good light instead of the bad. Every little point and good deed counts." And she rather hoped they didn't complain if a certain person at this school told them to cut the grass with safety scissors.
"If you don't feel up to helping Professors, we also have our sport teams here at Hogwarts. If you've signed up for quidditch, good luck to you all at tryouts. If you aren't, than come on over to the stands and cheer for your team. If you're not a quidditch fan and more into sports where you can't be knocked unconscious, you can check out the rules for our gobstones team. Anyone is welcome to join gobstones, there are no tryouts, but I strongly suggest reading and memorizing the rules if you feel like joining in. Slytherin has won the Quidditch Cup last term and have very strong standings in the Gobstones tournament and might I add...the victor of these events receives a certain amount of points."Wink wink. Perhaps that would get their attention? They needed more Slytherin players for Gobstones.
"As for respect, there is a saying 'Treat others the way YOU want to be treated." Have they heard of it? "You treat someone like they're dirt, then you're going to be treated like dirt in return. This brings up the concept that one poor action from a Slytherin student reflects those of the entire house. Besides, if I hear a Slytherin is mistreating another Slytherin, or any student for that matter, you'll have to answer to us." Us being her, Salander, and Lafay. That was just how it was. Taking a deep breath, she gave a small glance to Salander before finishing up. "This is all just common sense. Don't speak out of turn, don't throw stinkbombs..." She was EYING people. "Don't give the Professors any reason to take points, participate in lessons and do your homework, and most importantly...respect others. The house of Salazar Slytherin should, above all others, know how to do these simple tasks. We are Slytherins. We are ambitious. We are cunning. We are smart and brave people, and everything in-between. Let us show those other houses that we have what it takes to win and be the best. They won't stand a chance if we work together on this."
Taking another short breath, Evelyn may have actually smiled a little bit, letting all of what she said sink in for a moment before continuing. "Before we start this feast, are there any other suggestions you'd like to give?"
