Eat, drink, and be merry, O Eagles. Classes begin again tomorrow.
The glittering night sky is clear and visible through the enchanted ceiling, and the floating candles bedeck the entire hall in a warm golden light. All seems well with the world, aside from the empty plates still waiting for food to appear.
And what's this? The silverware is tarnished and askew, almost as if thrust on the table willy-nilly. Take a seat and search for a clean spoon while the Sorting Hat ceremony commences. The House Elves have done their clean up work quickly and effectively, and the silverware and dishes are now set to right.
Jayden was shocked at Erin's angry outburst! "Erin....it's okay, he's doing the best he can see? He even apologized!" She looked at her friend giving her a "Chill out" look.
Erin looked the shock on Jayden's face when she shouted to the elf. Well, she can't help it. Dirty utensils are definitely irritating, more if you ate with it. "What? I'm just saying. Well, I don't want him banging his head like that. I'll just go there," she said pointing at the other direction. "Enjoy chatting with your friends," with that she quickly turned her back from her.
Adam managed to sneak away from all the Gryffindor people, making his way over to the Ravenclaw table to see Ellie. After all, they kind of had to abruptly cut off their conversation due to the train arriving, and all the bustling of getting into the grounds. Adam walked down the row of people, giving Ellie's shoulder a little tap.
"Hey Ellie," Adam said with a shy smile before plopping down on an open spot on the bench.
Ellie blinked from her 'Treyen please come over' state when she felt a tap on her shoulder. It twitched from the touch. She turned to see..Adam! That made her feel slightly better.
"Hey! I saw your sorting," she said, jerking her head to where the hat was, "Gryffindor, eh?" That was one they hadn't expected, right? But she was smiling. Her finger-crossing obviously hadn't worked. "How's it over there?" At the Lion table, that is.

"Innocent? Ha. Okay, I'll let you think that... for now." She responded with a wink. He was looking at her again... that look, was priceless.
That wink... That wink proved to Nate that he was more than wrong about the innocence of the 11 year old girl with blue hair. But he liked it. Smiling he said, "So when the feast is over, would you care to accompany me to our common room?" he wasn't quite done, though: "Wherever it is..."

"No, no! Don't do that." Pam said, putting a hand on the elf's shoulder. "Don't hit yourself. You're doing a fine job. This silverware is much nicer than what I'm used to." Pam kept her voice soft and sweet to make sure the house elf wasn't scared off.
"Oh, thank you, Mistress. Mistress is so kind to Pips, and Pips was being so... so..." HICCUP. He nodded a bow in her direction and hurried on to finish the table. Dinner would arrive SOON.

India hadn't been on time to talk to Pips - and she was utterly tetched at her house. Someone - and she meant everyone was going to get a strong talking to. Its not his darn fault that the forks were dirty.
"That was - rude." She snapped with no one in mind. Standing up, she quickly walked over to the staff table. She was going to tell Pips as she had told Nimma earlier, if he needed to talk to anyone to talk to her, to punish the darn tarnish and dirt and not himself - and to spread the word. She was going to start a darn house elf liberation front...because some of these students were impossibly rude - and yelling, and snobby...and more like the slytherins of old then the Ravenclaws of now. Jerkfaced losers.
Hmph. Maybe she was being a little over reactive. She didn't care though.

Jezabel's point had certainly not been made. She sighed, and made a mental note to talk loader in future. "Nice to meet you, Rory," she said.
Great conversation starter.
Rory felt awkward because it seemed like there was absolutely nothing to talk about. He needed to come up with something quick to get the conversation going. But how does one even do this? With Selena, it was different because a topic sort of already on display whereas here, they were just a bunch of first years here.
Come on, Rory. Spit something out. Anything. It doesn't matter. "I like eggs and pudding!" Okay...not exactly what he had in mind but it was the first thing that he thought of. "No, wait. Um. Half-blood, pureblood, muggle-born?" Too straightforward. Whoops. "Sorry. That was a little too much, wasn't it? I'll go back to eggs and pudding. I like eating pudding," he said, as he put another spoonful of pudding into his mouth and swallowed it, "And I like egging people's houses. I used to do it all the time until my neighbors got mad and my mom stopped letting me stay home by myself." Yeah. That was a tragic day.

The memories of that bother me quite often I get nightmares about it sometimes" she said.
"Those sports sound interesting and there seem to be a lot of them. What's baseball exactly?" she asked. "Apparition is sometimes dangerous. It can cause Splinching sometimes which is not a good thing. I heard its similar to something muggles call a road test to get a license for their form of transportation. But during our seventh year classes will be available but you have to pay for the class which my aunt told me costs 12 galleons" she explained.
"I agree that everyone does have different strengths. I can see how it can be one of many things that makes Hogwarts unique." she says "Thank you Chelsea! I also consider you a very good friend. I understand that there are somethings you just can't tell someone unless they're a good friend." Temperance says with a huge friendly smile "I often get nightmares about the bullying I've been through, I guess that's why I like music and drawing so much because it helps calm me down and even makes me feel better." she says
"There are more sports than just those, lot's more and they're all intersting too. Baseball is a team sport, there are 9 players on each team. There a small ball called the baseball. The player's on the two team take turns hitting it with a bat, there are 4 bases on the playing field also. When a player hits the baseball they have to run to base nearest to them and if they have enough time, run to the next base without being tagged out. You can get tagged out when a member of the opposite team catches the ball at the base you're running to. The player has to make it around all 3 bases back to the base they started on in order to score points for their team. When a team get's 3 outs and 3 strikes, which happen when a player swings the bat but misses the ball, the team that was hitting switches places with the other team. This continues until 9 innings or rounds have passed, sometimes there are more than 9 but that only happens when there is a tie. The other team is out in the field, either guarding the bases, pitching the baseball or waiting to catch the ball when one of the hitter's hits it very far." she explains "As I said Chicago has 2 baseball teams, which isn't very common. Because of that there is a very strong rivalry between the teams, the fans and even the pitch's where the games are played. One of the teams is said to be cursed and it's the curse that is the reason they haven't won a World Series game since the curse was made. This team is the one that I am a huge fan of, even though they win very few games every season, I still cheer them on anyway." she says with a smile.
"Yeah, that doesn't sound very good, in fact it sounds rather painful. Yeah we have to 16 before we can take the test to get our driving license. There are classes available for that too, in fact they're required if you're under 18. I don't think the classes would be very difficult but if the risk of splinching is higher if you are under 17 than it makes sense that you have to wait. Well the cost doesn't seem to bad, I suppose." There was no bench, there was no great hall, there wasn't even a Pam (which was strangely unusual). It was just Nathaniel and Jayden. But he didn't know how she felt and didn't know how to ask her.

"Yeah...I was a bit surprised myself," Adam said with a little chuckle. "But I'll still root for you at the Quidditch games...as long as it's not a game against Gryffindor." Adam gave Ellie a little smirk before shooting a glance at the silverware. Louisa had made the whole silverware thing seem like an odd commodity that was just happening at the Gryffindor table, but the silverware looked the same at this table. That definitely confirmed Adam's thoughts that Louisa was avoiding Dallin and Ellie.
"It's good. One guy I met over the summer at Diagon Alley got sorted into Gryffindor too, so I at least already know one person in the house. How are things going over here?" Adam asked.

Damon saw Elves entering the hall, would something finally get done with all the plates and cups and such, he could only hope so, he was already wanting to eat what was left in his snack bag in his trunk but of course he had to leave his trunk on the train and that was making Damon very hungry, at any rate he felt content as he waited for things to happen and for the headmaster to do the speech.

Chelsea smiled at Temperance. "You're welcome Temperance! Everyone has at least one bad thing in their past no one has a truly perfect life. If you don't mind I think I'll be sitting here for dinner sometimes...some of the other Slytherins seem very rude and I don't waste my time on people like that. But if you ever need to talk I'll listen" she replied.
Chelsea listened to Temperance talk about baseball. "Wow! Baseball sounds confusing but yet fun! What is your favorite team called?" she asked.
"Yeah it looks painful too my uncle got his leg spliched while apparating before. He was taken to St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries it took him like a month to fully heal before he could aparate again. The price for the class isn't really that expensive and its worth it apparition is so much faster than broom.
Ellie's summer was maybe good? Vashti couldn't help but wonder why but then Ellie seemed to decide that it was good. Hmm. Suspicious. But okay then, if she said so. It seemed Eino was the only one who'd had a genuinely good - or rather, splendid and delightful - summer. "Mine was fine." Anything exciting and fun? "I went to the carnival they're having in Diagon Alley." That had been fun for the most part. "What about you guys? What'd you do?" She was definitely curious to know what Eino had done to make his summer so awesome and what Ellie had done that only made hers maybe good.
The grin returned when Ellie confirmed her thoughts, not only with a verbal response but also with a pretty shiny little badge. "That is awesome!" And really no surprise. "Congratulations! You'll be a great Captain, I know it." That Quidditch Cup was SO going to be theirs.
Wait, who was clapping?
It was coming from right beside her, but when she looked over at Eino, the clapping had stopped and his hands were in his pockets. Hmm.
She drew her wand as well but refrained from immediately casting on any of the silverware when Eino spoke up. "Those are good ideas, too," she said, nodding. But...should they go ahead and try to clean the stuff up? Ellie had her wand out too but wasn't casting on any of them. Did they need permission to cast spells on the Hogwarts silverware? She glanced over at Eino and saw him shrug, so apparently he was unsure as well whether they should go ahead or not. Hmm....

Vashti's 'fine' summer made Ellie a bit curious, but she didn't pry on that. It might not be something the girl wanted to talk about. And Ellie totally understood what that was like.

Her face turned pink at their congratulations. "Thank you!" She was SO tempted to hug them again. Eino was once again being adorable and clapping. Hah. He was too cute. It made her giggle. Silently, she hoped she could meet their remarks. That she'd be 'great' and 'do fantastic'. She was very insecure about it all, but they'd see in time, right?
Now was when she decided to look up where the staff were seated. She had planned on maybe catching Vindictus' eye, if he were there, now that her Captaincy was in mind. Scanning the table from where she started, though, had her eyes falling on a different Professor, and they froze there. Ellie immediately frowned, and her eyes watered up, but she blinked any possibility of tears away. She would not cry. She would just stare at the new Charms Professor. Maybe she'd be able to figure out what she would be like just by observing. The redhead watched her....until she walked right out of the room. Then her eyes drifted to the Hufflepuff table, and a certain boy sitting there. He could come over now. Like...now.
She'd tuned out the rest of what Vashti and Eino had said. The tarnished dishes were completely forgotten.
The carnival sounded fun, and Eino did have some time to visit it, but his visit was rather brief and rushed. "I returned to Finland for most of the summer, but I also entered several fencing tournaments so I traveled quite a bit." This summer his parents had been especially invested in his fencing, but he was very happy because being at home the entire summer was never very fun. "My favorite place was Sweden. I got to see a Swedish Short-Snout! It was glorious, but sadly it was dead." He said with a nod. After seeing one dead, Eino only wanted to see one alive even more, but that would have to wait until he knew enough magic to be able to handle one. Well, that had been the highlight of his summer and a lot more had happened, nothing noteworthy, but it definitely was the best summer he had ever had.
Eino looked over at Ellie and wasn't sure she had entirely listened to him. She seemed to have found something more interesting at a Hufflepuff table. Eino looked but didn't see anything that would compare to a dragon. Vashti seemed to have returned her attention the silverware, and then a house elf appeared at the end of the table.
He watched as the elf chatted with some students for a very brief while, and it seemed like it was apologizing for the silverware. "Look there." He told Vashti as the elf then apologized again, bowed multiple times, and began to walk towards the staff table. He waited until the elf passed him, exchanged his silverware, then spoke to the ladies. "Dear me... I wonder if he is alright. Did you notice how it hiccuped so often?" Maybe it was sick? Or thirsty?
Nate looked nervous... like he wanted to say something, but couldn't... "Is there something wrong?" Jayden asked him, worried she had said something wrong.
Nate couldn't speak. At all. He just put his hand on hers and looked into her eyes , hoping that she understood. He had seen Inception in the muggle world, what if he could so something like that here with Jayden?

About how she was extremely close to the Charms Professor, and how, although she already knew he wouldn't be returning, it was sad to see his seat filled by somebody else. But she didn't think she should really bother him with her pitiful tendency to attach herself to Professors only to be wicked upset when they leave. "They will be," she said instead, with a nod of her head.
She grinned when he told her he'd be rooting for her. Then it changed as she gave him a teasing LOOK as he continued. "Well, I appreciate the support. I'll cheer for you as well...unless you're playing US." Only fair, yeah. Her competitiveness would only increase should Adam tryout for the Gryffindor team...and make it.
Her eyes followed his to the silverware. Oh, right...it was dirty... And she hardly cared anymore. It was also now that she realized she still had her wand out as she had intended to clean her utensils herself, but she stowed it away in her holster. She had no intention of eating right now.
"That's good. Is he a transfer, too?" Or would she maybe know him? "They're alright."She may not be alright in her state of slight despair, but things were alright.
Minus the dishes. She had failed to notice the elves creeping around, too.

"I know some pure-bloods want to believe the have a perfect life but they truly worry about what their family would think. I can't stand when wizards think their superior just because of the purity of their blood. Sorry it just upsets me probably because I grew up around those kind of wizards but was raised by complete opposites" she explained. She was glad her aunt and uncle were open to talking to muggles so she wouldn't have to worry about trying too hard to please them their only wish for Chelsea is that she get good grades.

Beezus was looking at the other tables , waiting to see her friend Simon and noticed an outstretched hand close to where she was seating. Brow arching, she wondered what happened. A girl walking away and a boy with an outstretched hand.. Drama then ?
"What just happened?" she said aloud, not directed to anyone. She was just curious on that matter. Put over that it was just the start of the feast ..
