Eat, drink, and be merry, O Eagles. Classes begin again tomorrow.
The glittering night sky is clear and visible through the enchanted ceiling, and the floating candles bedeck the entire hall in a warm golden light. All seems well with the world, aside from the empty plates still waiting for food to appear.
And what's this? The silverware is tarnished and askew, almost as if thrust on the table willy-nilly. Take a seat and search for a clean spoon while the Sorting Hat ceremony commences. The House Elves have done their clean up work quickly and effectively, and the silverware and dishes are now set to right.
"I'm Nathaniel. I'm sorry, I'm just sorta distracted by your friend here. She's really pretty." Just as this left his mouth he half regretted it. The other half of him said it was just the right thing to say. "Sorry Surya. Well, we'll be in the same dorm won't we?"

"Oh. Muggles, How nice." Jayden responded, genuinely interested. She was still thinking about the way he had called her pretty, however. Taking a leap of faith, Jayden turned to Nathaniel "Hey... would you want to walk with me to class tommorow?" She asked breathily.
"Muggle school is okay. I mean as long as you like the same things everyone else does, you won't have a problem. It's when you're like things that everyone else doesn't like that you get bullied or at least that is what happened with me." Temperance says with tears forming as she remember's some of the bullying she went through. She then shakes to her heard to clear her mind, "Anyway you had eight classes a day, a break for lunch and an hour or so after lunch to play with your friends or just relax before your afternoon classes. Depending on the school you went to, you may or may not have uniforms also. Each grade level has classes you have to take plus some extra classes like music or choir. There were also sports, like soccer, football, baseball, basketball and volleyball that you could join after school if you wanted too." she says "Is that like teleporting?" Temperance asks "I might just do that. Thanks for the suggestion!" she says
Chelsea noticed Temperance get upset. "I'm so sorry I didn't mean to make you upset I was just curious. You won't be treated like that here its good to be different here unless you meet the arrogant pure-bloods which even I try to stay away from" she said. Chelsea couldn't stand pure-bloods who thought they were better than everyone else because they get drunk with power. She was pureblood but enjoyed talking to muggle-borns because she got to know things about a whole different world. Temperance was also becoming a good friend of hers, well at least she thought of her as a good friend after all she told Temperance about her parents.
"I've never heard of other sports besides quidditch its really the only one in the wizarding world" she said. "Yeah apparation is basically teleporting you just think of where you want to go and it takes you there it takes some getting used to though. But we can't get our license until we're seventh years" she explained.
"Right. I'll talk to you then, Jayden is taking most of my focus right now," said Nate. This was, after all, entirely honest. He added, "This is my best friend Pam, she's good company when she's awake." And under his breath he said "Thanks Pam, I owe you one. "
"No no, i don't want to disturb you. You can continue to.. uh whatever you were doing." Surya suddenly felt embarrassed. He should not have disturbed him. "Sorry", he added.
"No no, i don't want to disturb you. You can continue to.. uh whatever you were doing." Surya suddenly felt embarrassed. He should not have disturbed him. "Sorry", he added.
"So," Pam began, making sure Surya wasn't feeling left out. "Did you always want to be a Ravenclaw?" She asked, tilting her head to one side (as she usually did when she was thinking).
"I'd love a friend to talk to. I like making new friends." She smiled sweetly and then started fiddling with her hair. After a while it started bothering her, so she put it up in it's usual braid.
"So Pam!! tell me anything about you? Your Blood Status? Your favourite subjects? What all you like about Hogwarts?"
"So Pam!! tell me anything about you? Your Blood Status? Your favourite subjects? What all you like about Hogwarts?"
"I'm a half-blood. My mom is a witch, and my dad is a muggle. I hate anything to do with history, and I'm pretty good with numbers and puzzles. So far I'm really liking the Great Hall." She said looking at the ceiling. "But I'm excited to get to the common room. I'm getting kinda tired, I would love to try out the beds. I hope they're comfy." She blushed a little. She sometimes talks a lot when she's tired. "Sorry, I'm quite talkative."
Pretty.... he called her pretty. Jayden blushed furiously after hearing that part of the conversation.
"Oh. Muggles, How nice." Jayden responded, genuinely interested. She was still thinking about the way he had called her pretty, however. Taking a leap of faith, Jayden turned to Nathaniel "Hey... would you want to walk with me to class tommorow?" She asked breathily.
"Well gat sounds thate!" Nate could not speak at all, "I mean to say that that gounds srate!" Nate gave up here: he was giving ravenclaw a bad name! He hoped nobody was listening in at all. He was blushing violently, which made his blue eyes stand out nicely framed on his red face.
"My summer was splendid!" He had been very busy and got to travel to several different countries, so it had, possibly, been the best summer ever. Strangely, everyone else he had spoken to thus far didn't seem to have had such exciting summers, but maybe they just didn't want to share everything. Eino then listened for Ellie's answer to Vashti's question, in regards to the Quidditch Captain position, and watched as she showed it. "Congratulations, Ellie!" He said and began clapping, somehow expecting everyone else to do the same, but when he noticed his were the only pair of hands applauding he stopped and put them in his pockets. "I am sure you will do fantastic!" Hopefully, Ravenclaw would have a little more lucky, and better trained players this year, and give the other Houses a good fly for their galleons.
"Well, if the Scourgify doesn't work, then perhaps Tergeo or Reparo might." Eino didn't really know exactly what tarnish was. Was it dirty or damage? Depending on which it was they would have to use the appropriate spell. They were askew, so they would have to mend them to their original shape with the Mending Charm, nonetheless. He didn't want to be the one to do it, though, not without permission. All of the silverware seemed to be like the ones they were holding so surely the house elves or someone else had been informed by now. Maybe they would have their first Charms lesson even before class start and learn a new spell to fix the silverware. He finally looked at Vashti and shrugged.

It seemed Eino was the only one who'd had a genuinely good - or rather, splendid and delightful - summer. "Mine was fine." Anything exciting and fun? "I went to the carnival they're having in Diagon Alley." That had been fun for the most part. "What about you guys? What'd you do?" She was definitely curious to know what Eino had done to make his summer so awesome and what Ellie had done that only made hers maybe good.
The grin returned when Ellie confirmed her thoughts, not only with a verbal response but also with a pretty shiny little badge. "That is awesome!" And really no surprise. "Congratulations! You'll be a great Captain, I know it." That Quidditch Cup was SO going to be theirs.
Wait, who was clapping?
It was coming from right beside her, but when she looked over at Eino, the clapping had stopped and his hands were in his pockets. Hmm.
She drew her wand as well but refrained from immediately casting on any of the silverware when Eino spoke up. "Those are good ideas, too," she said, nodding. But...should they go ahead and try to clean the stuff up? Ellie had her wand out too but wasn't casting on any of them. Did they need permission to cast spells on the Hogwarts silverware? She glanced over at Eino and saw him shrug, so apparently he was unsure as well whether they should go ahead or not. Hmm....
"Splendid?" Ellie asked, eyebrows going up in surprise. "Care to share what made it so?" Splendid was such an odd word to describe it. It must have been real special.
Vashti's 'fine' summer made Ellie a bit curious, but she didn't pry on that. It might not be something the girl wanted to talk about. And Ellie totally understood what that was like.
Oh, right the carnival. "I took my brother there one day. He had fun." She, however, didn't have much interest in it. She hadn't exactly been in the 'carnival mood'. The food was worth it, though. "I stayed home." As opposed to travelling or staying at her Muggle cousins' for almost the entirety. Except for when she visited Little Professor, but the world needn't know she was welcome at their former Professor's house. "But that just meant I got to practice a lot." Which was the perfect way to spend summer, in her eyes.
Her face turned pink at their congratulations. "Thank you!" She was SO tempted to hug them again. Eino was once again being adorable and clapping. Hah. He was too cute. It made her giggle. Silently, she hoped she could meet their remarks. That she'd be 'great' and 'do fantastic'. She was very insecure about it all, but they'd see in time, right?
Now was when she decided to look up where the staff were seated. She had planned on maybe catching Vindictus' eye, if he were there, now that her Captaincy was in mind. Scanning the table from where she started, though, had her eyes falling on a different Professor, and they froze there. Ellie immediately frowned, and her eyes watered up, but she blinked any possibility of tears away. She would not cry. She would just stare at the new Charms Professor. Maybe she'd be able to figure out what she would be like just by observing. The redhead watched her....until she walked right out of the room. Then her eyes drifted to the Hufflepuff table, and a certain boy sitting there. He could come over now. Like...now.
She'd tuned out the rest of what Vashti and Eino had said. The tarnished dishes were completely forgotten.

Alice, walked (rather clumsily) to the Ravenclaw table, and sat down the the first vacant seat she found. Her mind still hadn't processed that she was a Ravenclaw. A Ravenclaw! How did this happen? Alice, by all means was not dumb, but she was more loud and abrasive, than studious. Obviously she didn't belong. Finally, she decided to push those thoughts out of her head; it's not good to think negative thoughts on an empty stomach. She took a bite of her Shepard's pie. "Maybe this year will be good as this shepard's pie", she thought hopefully, as she helped herself to more of dinner.
"I take that as a yes?" Jayden asked, giggling... hoping not to embarrass the poor boy further, she decided to switch to more casual conversation again. "Do you have any clue as to why there hasn't been any kind of welcome speech from the Headmaster?" She asked.
Chelsea noticed Temperance get upset. "I'm so sorry I didn't mean to make you upset I was just curious. You won't be treated like that here its good to be different here unless you meet the arrogant pure-bloods which even I try to stay away from" she said. "It's okay. Just the memories bother me sometimes, it would have happened eventually anyway." Temperance says looking at Chelsea with a small smile. "I understand being curious and I'm glad that I'm not going to that school anymore. I'm definetly going to try and stay from them, it's nice to be in a school where it's good to be different." she says. "I've never had friends before but I've always imagined this is what it would be like."
"Each of them are really popular in America and most of those were played at my school. Different school's have different sports that are played there. Chicago has 2 baseball teams, a football team and a hockey team. Oh I think I forgot to mention hockey. It's really popular in Chicago but it's most popular in Canada which is the country north of America, they're obssessed with hockey up there." she says. "Baseball is my favorite of those sports also." Temperance says with a giggle as she remember's how hopeless her favorite baseball team is yet she still cheers for them anyway "That's soo cool. There are many muggle author's that use teleporting in their books as a quick way for the characters to travel to places. Why do we have wait so long?"

With a small pop, Pips appeared amid the House tables in the wake of his fellow house elves. Tragedy! Horror! TARNISH! He hiccuped several times in a row, which was a very clear sign of just how agitated the little elf with the great bulging brown eyes really was.
VERY AGITATED.
"House elves is being bad. We is being so slow," his tiny voice just reached the ears of the Ravenclaws at their table as the elf crept along the length of it. He removed cutlery and dishes as he went - remove, clean, replace, remove, clean, replace.
Occasionally, he would bang his head against the table and hiccup more and more violently. It made his body shake. "Studentses must be punishing us. Don't be mad at this elf. Don't be unhappy."

Nate suddenly found himself back to his normal clever mindset: "I still don't get why they made us cross that freezing lake! I nearly fell in!" But Nate got distracted. Since he was thinking, he thought of something: Jayden was pureblood but he was muggle born, just like James and Lily Potter were...
"But no..." he added quietly, "I have no clue..." he trailed off for what felt like the hundredth time that night.

Jayden heard the distinct voice of a house elf and looked down, there he was picking up dishes and dirty spoons, forks, and knives. "Oh. You poor thing!" She said sympathetically; all anger she had before about the dirty dishes vanished when she saw the sad looking creature, his eyes showing fear and disappointment.

"No one's mad." Pam said in her sweetest voice. "Everyone has their off days."

"Oh my goodness... Can I help you at all?" Nate asked the sad looking house elf. He didn't even know what this thing was, but he didn't like the fact that it was banging it's head odd the table, and the hiccups seemed dreadful.

"It's very good to be different here everyone has different strengths I think thats one of the things that makes Hogwarts so unique. And I consider you as a very good friend Temperance if I didn't I wouldn't have told you about my parents. I don't tell anyone that normally. The memories of that bother me quite often I get nightmares about it sometimes" she said.
"Those sports sound interesting and there seem to be a lot of them. What's baseball exactly?" she asked. "Apparition is sometimes dangerous. It can cause Splinching sometimes which is not a good thing. I heard its similar to something muggles call a road test to get a license for their form of transportation. But during our seventh year classes will be available but you have to pay for the class which my aunt told me costs 12 galleons" she explained.

Chelsea noticed the house elf. "We're not mad at you. It was an honest mistake don't worry it happens to everyone at times. Please don't bang your head on the table we're not punishing you" she explained. Chelsea's aunt and uncle had a house elf but frequently gave him days off to let him know he was appreciated.

She was making her way through the farthest part of the table when she saw this house elf muttering, hiccupping and punishing himself. But she didn't bother to talk to him or stop him from what he's doing. It's good that finally, they realized that the utensils they have prepared is not appropriate for eating. What could they do? She's already eaten hers.

The eleven year old glared coldly at the newly arrived house elf...Merlin, what were they doing in the kitchens? Not their job, apparently. She had no patience for slacking house elves...oh the snobbery. She cleared her throat, and began to speak to the elf.
"Well, not all of us are very pleased-" she started, but she glared at the house elf one more before sighing. Her father would never approve, but-"I suppose it is okay. As long as it doesn't happen often," she the elf, her voice softening from the steely ice it had been before. She never took those blue eyes off the elf.

Adam managed to sneak away from all the Gryffindor people, making his way over to the Ravenclaw table to see Ellie. After all, they kind of had to abruptly cut off their conversation due to the train arriving, and all the bustling of getting into the grounds. Adam walked down the row of people, giving Ellie's shoulder a little tap.
"Hey Ellie," Adam said with a shy smile before plopping down on an open spot on the bench.

"You can laugh..." Nate looked down at his white converse, suddenly feeling shy. Thus was unlike him, to feel shy. Perhaps it was this girl's fault, but he found it impossible to blame her for anything. "You just seem so innocent..." Nate didn't realize that had come out of his mouth. He was looking into Jayden's eyes once again.
