Ready for Round 2, Cassie?

SPOILER!!: Gnaeus Spenser
"Alright, alright."

Gnaeus announced and clapped his hands twice to get the students' attention. "Third and fourth years can start practicing the Hurling Hex. Fifth through seventh year students can begin practicing the Stunning Spell.

The incantation for the Hurling Hex is 'Everte Statum' and the wand movement is a flick. The incantation for the Stunning Spell is 'Stupify' and the wand movement is pointing the wand at the target. The purpose of this is to increase the power of your Shield Charm, so if you still can't protect against a Knockback Jinx, don't move on just yet.

Remember, intent is of the utmost importance, so concentrate. Protego means 'I protect,' so you have to mean it when you say it, and not just say it because you have to. Precise wand movement will increase your chances of success.

Carry on."

Okay...Stunning spell...

Marilyn was vastly familiar with this particular spell. Not in a good way, either. She'd been the receiver of it many a time.

BUT NO thinking about that. Not right now...

"Ready Cassie?" Bowing...because it just seemed like the right thing to do, the blonde slung the spell in her Hufflepuff friend's direction. "STUPIFY!"

Eino approached the slightly younger Gryffindor girl and lightly tapped her shoulder. When she looked, he waved. "Would you like to be my partner?"

Selina looked around the room for a partner. She couldn't find a single person who wasn't partnered up. Even Gideon was patented up... with Lousia. Not that she even cared. But then she felt someone tap on her shoulder. She turned around to see Eino standing there waving. He didn't have a partner either. And they got along well enough, "Sure, I'd like that. So how do you wanna do this?"

Sooo... they were allowed to start now. And Carter was left with the choice of picking a partner.

Now, who did Carter trust enough to allow them to jinx him?

Err... Josh would do.

"Josh. Want to be partners?" he asked spotting his mate.

Funny thing Josh had been just standing and watching those two wild girls; Marilyn and Cassie trying to hex each other wildly and at the same time eyeing Evelyn if anyone tried to hex him. Well...simply because if anyone would hurt her, he was going to do much worse to that person. At the same time, unlike he did in all other classes, he did not approach to the girl to be partners because...well...he would never want to cast jinxes and hexes at her.

So he was just watching...that was...until he had heard Carter's voice which made him move his dark brown gaze at his housemate and captain. ''Why not?'' he replied with a smirk and get his wand ready. ''Which one would you like to practice first? Stunning spell or this shield charm?''

Eino took his wand and waved it for the girl. "I ought to do it with my wand." There was no other way to do it, was there? "You can, umm, do it differently, if you wish to, though." He replied and began to fold up his sleeves in preparation. "I will cast the Knockback Jinx and you protect, then we exchange roles." He said and retracted a few steps, positioning himself three or so meters away from the girl.

"Ready?" He pointed his wand and drew a squiggly line, saying "Flipendo!". An orange light shot from Eino's wand and flew toward the Gryffindor girl.

Awkwardly fixing her ponytail - a gesture of getting ready. "Then we can move on to the hurling hex."

She grabbed her wand tightly in her hand again and took the position. "Okay. Jinx away!" The 'protego' incantation was lingering on the tip of her tongue ready to be shouted.

Gideon awaited her answer patiently, nodding as she gave her answer and choice over the matter. "Alright...sounds like a plan" he replied showing vocally that he understood. He waited for the Ravenclaw to be ready giving him the go ahead as his hand tightened around his own wand to get himself ready for his part.

"Flippendo!" he cast once more making it three times in all if one included the do-over. Gideon watched as the spell came from his wand and awaited his partner's reaction to it on the other end.

Mary ^_^

Having lazily been trying the shield charm as she leaned against the side wall, finding it confusing since they've been doing this spell since they were first years and it was supposedly hard to do, Evelyn kept an eye on all the others near her as she did so. She didn't want any accidents where SHE had to end up in the hospital wing.

Yet thank Merlin they were going to try something else. The stunning spell though? Really? Running a hand through her hair, she pushed off the wall and was going to ask Josh if he wanted to partner up but...but then...Carter happened.

Stare.

Whaaaaat?

Louisa's voice rang, "Protego!" And the flashing shield appeared and disappeared fast. The girl didn't move from her spot. The spell Gideon had sent toward her was, obviously, absorbed by the shield. Beaming Louisa grinned at her own success.

"Okay. Let's move on to the next one, shall we?" Her mood was remarkably risen by her success. "Who does it first?" It was polite to ask. Although she wanted to take advantage from having her shield perfectly casted a minute ago.

Alyssa felt bad that Jesifur got hit by her knock back jinx.

She then turned around when she heard the Professor speak.

"Forth through seventh years. I guess since I'm second and you're 1st, we're supposed to keep practising the Knock-Back Jinx and the Shield Charm. Let me know when you're rested Jesifur and we'll try practising that again." Alyssa told her friend who still looked winded from the last practice.

Whaaaaat?

Marie was actually starting to get sort of bored with this lesson, or whatever you wanted to call it. Really, did the short guy really think the shield charm was all that difficult? She had been using Protego since her first year at Hogwarts so naturally it came very easily to the seventh year. She even knew a couple other shield charms but didn't bother mentioning them to short man. Maybe later. Right now though she was going to hex someone like...

Carter.

Yeah, he would be the perfect victim partner for this... or not. Seems as if he was going to partner with the other Carter, Josh Carter that is. Fine, she would just work with... Who would she work with? Looking around the room she found the perfect person. "Hey Evelyn, wanna practice this with me?" Not that this was practice either, more like a refresher since 'Stupify' was also another spell they had learned... and used several terms ago.

jesifur 09-26-2011 08:15 PM

Since his instructions were for the older students, Jesifur continued to practice the first two he taught them. Alyssa knocked her back pretty hard that last time, so she was catching her breath. Standing bent at the waist with her hands on her knees, she inhaled deeply. She straightened up as she exhaled.

"Are you ready over there Alyssa?" She asked. Jesifur cleared her mind and steadied her concentration. Planting her feet firmly on the ground she readied her wand.

Huffing quietly, she eyed Carter. If he hurt Josh in ANY way...

He was getting a bludger to the nose during the upcoming quidditch match. She'd make sure of it.

Hearing her name, she muttered something before looking towards who it was. Ah, Marie. "Yea...sure." she mumbled, looking back to Josh and Carter for a moment before turning and facing her friend; giving her a LOOK of course. Practice? Really? This would be more like a fun little duel between them. They had all the practice they needed during the terms before.

... "You want to start first?"

Turning around, Nessie saw a fellow Huffie. "Yeah sure..that be great" said Ness smiling at who was now her partner. Being polite she smiled at the girl and introduced herself. "Im Nessie by the way."

Now back onto the dueling. "Um..So do you wanna go first?"Nessie asked rather nervously, she wasn't even sure what spell they were supposed to be using, but she would let her partner go first and then she would hopefully hear the correct incarnation.

Louisa seemed to have gotten her knack at the shield spell for as his jinx neared her it was blocked completely by her own defenses. "Good job," he said congradulating her with a polite smile. "Aye ," Gideon replied in agreement at the idea of moving on to the next spell, the boy having noticed a few of the pairs around him including Kurumi's duo already starting work on it.

"Why don't you aim at me again this time," he suggested as he prepared himself for being on the defensive.

I think I'm better off just ducking rather than shielding," he shrugged with a small smile, hoping she wasn't mad at him.

"Well anyway," he said, putting a few paces between them and drawing his wand with a rouguish grin, "You ready for a little knock-back jinx a la Cael?" he laughed, getting ready to cast.

" You betcha" said Maddy raising her wand to block the knockback jinx. Now that she had prefected her shielding charm.

Louisa's grin was turned to a polite smile. His 'Aye' was definitely amusing. She nodded at his suggestion and cleared her throat for affection, "Get ready, Gideon." The girl gave him a few seconds of silence, playing with his nerves a bit, and no it wasn't mean, she was just having fun. *smirk*

"Everte Statum!" Flicking her wand toward him with a step forward without getting too close so he wouldn't be so startled. She was sure that the hurling hex was easy enough for her. It was his shield's role to protect him from her skill in hexing people.

Gideon was as ready as he would ever be as Louisa warned him to be so. The boy waiting as patiently as he could as the distance between warning and casting seemed to have been stretched, whether on purpose or accident he couldn't be sure. But despite that he still managed to react well when the Ravenclaw finally took her shot at him.

"Protego!" he cast swinging his arm left and right and back again as he spoke clearly. The Gryffindor focusing as best he could on what was was coming towards him. Gideon almost expected to have it not fully work for his companion had the easier spell despite it being newly learned but the shield held on and he let out a breath he hadn't known he had been holding.

"Nice try there..."

Marie didn't miss Evelyn looking over towards the two Carters. She was pretty sure Ev wanted to be partners with Josh, only for a different reason than she wanted to partner with Carter. "Don't worry, if Carter hurts him I'll blast him for you." She whispered to Ev. She would take any opportunity to hex Carter that she could get.

"You ready for this?" Sure she knew in a real duel you wouldn't ask your opponent if they were ready but this wasn't a real duel. This was practice... and it was with Evelyn. She didn't really want to stupefy her friend.

Walking away from Ev she suddenly turned and pointed her wand at her. "Stupefy!" Hopefully the girl got her shield up in time. She didn't want to feel the wrath of Josh if she didn't.

Jesifur heard her say ready and didn't wait for the rest of it, "flipendo" as she pointed her wand at Alyssa. Immediately she moved into a protective stance, "Protego," she did the elbow axis wave in front of herself.

Much to her own delight the shield grew to a good size. A size that would in fact block a jinx.

If she had been the one waiting for the hex, her knees might've buckled up. No need to say that out loud, though. He might become the opponent she was to face eventually.

"Okay. My turn." Gulp. She fixed her ponytail once again - the nervous gesture should be noticed by any human being with a mind by now - and stood with her wand raised at the ready.

....and immediately Alyssa had to go on the offensive, waving her wand from right to left making sure that she using her elbow as a point of axis. "PROTEGO".

...and just in time too. She saw the shield go up just as the knock-back jinx was about to hit her. Even then, she took a couple of steps back to recover from the impact of the jinx hitting the charm. Without hesitation she threw the jinx back at Jesifur, pointing her wand and yelling "FLIPENDO!!"

She saw a light fly out from her wand. "Here's hoping Jesifur is ready for this" thinking to herself and smiling when she saw Jes throw up her shield.

"Yay! we're getting the hang of this. I wish that we could move on to the other spells now," Alyssa told Jesifur.

He was pushed back a few feet by her Flipendo, but overall that was his best shield charm yet.

"Yeah!" he cheered, pumping his fist in the air excitedly, "Did you see that?!" he asked her, bouncing on the balls of his feet.

Gideon relaxed his stance as he recovered from the spell casting, the shield having been a hard on. "I guess ye can say that," he remarked with a shrug. He himself wasn't too sure of his steady nerves especially with his past growing up.

He couldn't help raise a slight eyebrow as she fixed her ponytail once more, curious as to the actions purpose but shaking his head absently not chosing to dwell on it too much. "Very well...be ready," he warned thinking back to the spell that they were supposed to be working on as well as the wand movement.

"Everte Statum!" he cast with a flick towards Louisa.

Louisa's hand moved quickly, almost as quickly as her heart gave one hard beat against her chest. "Protego!" Her shield wasn't as powerful as before and it sizzled as the spell hit it. Luckily, she didn't get hit by it. "Phew. That was close." True.

The Ravenclaw then took a step closer to Gideon. "Do you want to practice anything else?" The shield charm was the most difficult one for both of them. But again, he seemed really in control with it. "And... why do you say 'ye'?" The question just came out genuinely. Her curiosity surfaced at last.

Huh. "Only if I can blast him first." she smirked, muttering it more to herself than to Marie.

Hmm, was she ready?

Nodding, as Marie was creating space between them, Evelyn took the chance to take a quick peak over at Josh once more; just a quick one. It was rather good that she looked back to Marie in that moment, because she didn't have long to bring up the shield. "Protego!" Regardless that she was able to cast one nonverbally, Evelyn was indeed...taken by surprise.

Good Merlin. "Thanks for the warning." Pffft. "Stupefy!"
