Elise seemed to dance into the Astronomy classroom, and the first thing she saw was Professor Roslund! ASTRONOMY! It was her 2nd favourite subject. After Herbology, of course!

"Goooooood evening, Professor Roslund!" she chirped. He was reading the prophet again. "Anything nice in the Prophet today?" she asked. She hadn't found anything very fun in her copy that morning, but maybe Professor Roslund had seen something else...

Scanning the seats, she found Gaby. Right in the middle! YES! Love ya, Gaby! she thought as she flopped into the seat next to her bestie. "Hey, Gaby!" she said, before pulling out her notebook and pencil to place on the table.

Noticed that there was a girl sat beside her. Oh, it was Zhenya, her best friend.

"Hey Zhenya, are you interested with the lesson?" she asked.

Nathan entered the astronomy classroom with his books in hand. He was reasdy for an awesome lesson. "Good morning professor", Nathan said before he took a seat.

Harvey walked into the classroom "Hello Professor Roslund" he greeted the Professor with a smile before taking a seat and waiting for the lesson to start. He took out his parchment and quill ready to take notes in class

The sound of running and walking feet alerted Edvard to the arrival of the first student's. Looking up over his newspaper he greeted the first student with a big smile "Good evening, Kourtney!"

"Good evening, Beatrice!" Edvard greeted the young claw with a beam.

"Good evening, Erin! Are you longing for snacks today too?" Edvard inquired from the young claw. She if he remembered had come back for more marshmellows at the end of last lesson.

"Good evening Raven!" Edvard greeted the young snake with a warm smile.

"Good evening, Minerva!" Folding up his evening prophet and placing it on his desk Edvard replied to the young badager "Not really. I just checked the comics and if they had updated the horoscopes."

Roseland???? Edvard blinked before he understood that the little hyper slytherin had adressed him. "Good evening, Daichi." Winking at the little boy he said "If i told you that. It wouldn't be a surprise. So patience young snake it will be revealed soon."

"Good evening Kurumi! Are you feeling all right, dear?" Edvard couldn't help but ask. The lioness prefect looked quite tired and beat. Kurumi had her eyes on the purple cloth much like the rest of the class which made Prof Roslund happy.

"Good evening Gideon!" Edvard greeted the young lion with a smile as he sat down in the vacant seat next to Kurumi.

"Good evening, Selina!" Edvard greeted the next lion with a cheery smile. He watched as she walked over and joined what was slowly becoming the lion row of desks with Kurumi, Gideon and now Selina sitting together.

"Good evening Janice!" Edvard greeted the young badger as she found herself a seat.

The Ravenclaw Captain Miss Stone entered the Astronomy classroom after Janice. She didn't greet him like the other kids. It seemed her mind was distracted. "Evening, Miss Stone!" Edvard politley greeted the young claw anyway thinking that she was probably worrying about something or other like most teenagers did.

"Good evening Alyssa! It's nice to have you back, dear." The more the merrier Edvard mused as he watched Alyssa claim a seat next to Janice.

After Alyssa another boy from the badger house walked in. A new face to Edvard. He looked familiar, wasn't he Sierra Greingoth's twin? Unsure he greeted the boy anyway with a smile "Good evening, Master Greingoth, right?"

"Good evening Eino!" Edvard greeted the young claw. Watching as the boy started to check under his chair and desk for something. When he sat down he pulled up his feet from the floor. Raising a brow Professor Roslund asked concerned "Is everything all right Eino?" If it was then why the nervous posture.

"Good evening Gaby!" Edvard happily greeted back. "It depends on what you mean by interesting, the mystery novel has been updated." Which was something he knew that Hogwartsians followed and read eagerly.

"Good evening Maybelle!" Edvard greeted the young badger with a kind beam.

"Good evening Angelina!" Edvard greeted with a smile.

Rosemundo???? First Roseland and now Rosemundo. Was his name so hard to pronounce? Scratching his head slightly he said "Good evening, Destiny!" At least nobody had taken him for another professor yet.


"Good evening, Kennedy!" Edvard greeted back returning the grin. He always liked it when student's got up the courage to sit in the front.

"Good evening Sky!" Edvard greeted with a kind smile.

Following Sky was another Slytherin this time Master Moon. "Evening Ashley!" Edvard greeted with a nod.

Not being able to stop himself from grinning as a studen't practically rushed into the classroom Edvard said with a wink in the girl's direction."Good evening, Zhenya! I'm good, dear. How are you on this fine night?"

"Good evening Elise!" Edvard greeted with a big beam. "Yes actually, an article about my mentor. But i won't bore you with it. Go take a seat." Which she did, next to Gaby some minutes later.

"Good evening Nathan!" Edvard greeted the young lion as he took an empty seat.

To all the student's he said in voice that could be heard over the chatter. "The class will start in just a few minutes. We're just waiting for a few more straggler's to join us."

Astronomy. Indiana loved this lesson. Although she was feeling that she was running a little bit late. Hmm. Indy frowned, looking at her watch as she neared the classroom. She was going to be just about on time, which was good really. The little ravenclaw smiled as she wandered into the classroom. Yup. just about on time. "Hi Professor." She smiled, giving him a little wave, before wandering and sitting herself down. Yeey. Astronomy time.

Daichi's eyes shifted from the purple cloth on the desk to the Professor when he adressed him. He smiled but then pouted that he needed to have patience. The Slytherin shifted his weight. Back and forth. "Mweeeh, ooohkay" he whined a little bit before turning around and finding a seat close to the front.

Dropping the school bag next to him, Daichi picked out his text book and placed it on the table before leaning back and eyed the purple cloth curiously.

After Nathan, another student walked in, this time a Ravenclaw. "Good evening, Harvey!" Edvard greeted. Seeing no student’s outside the classroom door or hearing the footsteps of any approaching Eddie pulled out his wand to shut the door but was stopped.

Little Indiana slipped into the classroom at the last minute. Returning her wave he said "Evening, Indiana!" and then he went ahead and closed the classroom door. Re-pocketing his wand her moved around his desk.

Going over to the cloth he dramatically pulled off the purple cloth to show a miniature model of the solar system.



Holding it up to the class he said "Good evening, class! Tonight we are going to go more in depth into planets which we briefly touched in our first lesson of the year."

"Does anyone know the definition of a planet set by the muggle IAU?"


OCC: Welcome one and all to the last astronomy lesson of the term. The lesson has now officially started. Do not RP arriving late act as if you’ve been there all the time. Otherwise I will deduct points.

"Ooooh..." opps. Maybe that had been a bit loud. Indy giggled, smiling at the Professor. She loved the planets. It was her favorite bit, so she knew she was really going to enjoy this lesson. But...now she needed to think about the question. She mused, flicking through her textbook to the bit about planets, although she knew the answer probably wasn't going to be in there. You know, considering that the Professor had asked about a muggle thing. With a smile though, she raised her hand after a few minutes. "I think to qualify as a planet it has to orbit the sun"

Alyssa knew that she recognized that name IAU. It meant the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and so she raised her hand and answered, "Professor according to the muggle IAU, a planet is defined as a celestial body which orbits around the sun, has enough mass to have a nearly round shape and is gravitationally dominant in its own orbit meaning there are no other bodies of comparable size other than its own satellites or those otherwise under its gravitational influence."

Gideon smiled at Selina as she joined him and Kurumi at the desks before turning his attention to the professor as he revealed the model. So they were to be dealing with the planets again. He listened to the question the professor raised, raising his hand knowing the answer well enough. "A planet is a celestrial object that has an orbit around the sun, has enough mass to hold a near-round shape and there is clear space around its orbit," he replied doing his best to put it in his own words.

He knew this. Kennedy had learned something similar to this in his muggle Earth Science class. After getting his thoughts in order he raised his hand. "That a planet has to have enough gravity to 'clear it's neighborhood' around its orbit," he said. "That's why Pluto was downgrated to dwarf planet because it shared its orbit with other dwarf planet." Yep, poor little Pluto.

Harvey put up his hand, he remembered some stuff from his muggle science class "Sir a planet is a celestial body which orbits around the sun and has to have a clear space around its orbit meaning that there should be no other celestial bodies around it." he hoped that he was right

'Ahhhhhh yes' Salima uttered 'The definitions now here is something I do know' Salima raised her hand and said 'The three definitons of the IAU "A planet is any object in orbit around the Sun with a diameter greater than 2000 km.
A planet is any object in orbit around the Sun whose shape is stable due to its own gravity.
A planet is any object in orbit around the Sun that is dominant in its immediate neighbourhood." Sorry Professor but I wasn't sure which one you ment.' She finished off.

William is happy he is seating next to Minerva.

William raised his hand.The defiinition of aplanet set by the muggle IAU is
1. It orbits the sun, 2.It has sufficent mass assuming a round shape and 3."Cleans it's neighborhood" around the orbit. William told the professor.

Selina nodded at her Professor as he said hello to her. Once she took her seat and settled in the lesson began. Gideon was, as to no surprise to Selina, one of the first to answer Professor Roslund's question. He always had an aptitude for the subject, she attested that to Gideon's mother.

She rose her hand to respond to the question herself and said simply, because that was about the only answer she had, A body of mass that takes up space as it orbits around the sun?" That was all she had for him.

Oh, a solar system model… Sky hadn't seen one of those in awhile. She didn't even have to think about the answer to the question. They'd been over it so many times in her muggle science classes it was ingrained. " A planet is a celestial body that obits a sun, has enough mass to be round, and has nothing in the way of it's orbit." she answered.

Now this looked very familiar, though it took Kourtney a bit to realize what the IAU stood for. Raising her hand, she spoke. "Professor, a planet is categorized in three ways. It orbits the sun, has sufficient mass to form into a round shape, and it clears the neighborhood....which means it has become gravitationally dominant."

Zhenya raised her hand, "Professor A planet is defined as something, a rock oe gaseous spherical body which orbits around the tun. And the Eight major planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune," she said.

Violet looked back and forth as other students spouted out long, complicated sounding answers--??? She had no idea what a Muggle IA-something stood for; and what complicated definitions they had for things! It made Violet's head spin just to hear some of the students go on and on and on--what in incredible bunch of little swots some of them were!

Kurumi sort of blinked in confusion as hands went up all around here. She was rather surprised that her classmates even knew what the IAU was - which she had no clue to be honest - but not so much about what a planet was. After all, most of that was common knowledge to all and not something that was specifically non-magical. While the fourth year still had no clue what the IAU was, she knew what a planet was and slowly raised her hand.

"Planets are celestial bodies which are gravitationally dominant with no other bodies close to it in comparable size besides it satellites. It also should have enough mass to create a spherical shape." There was some fancy word for that that started with hydro-- and ended with something, but Kurumi sort of let that slide for now because she knew she would only butcher the pronunciation. "They also must orbit around the sun, or, um, A sun." Since their galaxy wasn't the only solar system in the galaxy. The universe didn't revolve around them after all.

Minerva wasn't completely sure, but she put up her hand. "Professor does it mean something along the lines of the planets orbiting the sun."

Rasing his hand Anthony said aloud, "Umm I heard when I was younger that a planet has to orbit the sun or something like that, and that it doesn't die out... or something?" He was taking a total guess mostly. He heard his Uncle talking about it once at a family gathering, but he was so young he doesn't really remember to much except that is much orbit the sun.

Keefer actually knew this one! That was rare in Astronomy. With much excitement, he raised both hands into the air (as he always did).

"For a celestial body to be a planet, it must pass three tests. The first is that is must orbit a star, in our case the Sun. At least, I think it can orbit any star. Or are they only called planets in our Solar System? That would kinda leave out the other psuedo-planets.." He was digressing. Bring it back, Keef.

"Anyways, sorry. So it has to orbit a star or the Sun. The second test is that it has to have enough mass that it has become spherical. This is closely related to the third test, which is that the body must have become the Alpha Dog of its neighbors. Basically, its gravitational pull has to dominate the gravitational pull of any body 'close' to it."

Though really, how do you define close when distances are measured in millions of miles or light years?

"A planet has to be orbit around the sun, and it has to has to "clear the neighbourhood" as they say," Angelina said, answering Professors question.
