Astronomy Lesson 1 As you enter the astronomy classroom you'll notice that the room has been re arranged to make room in front of the windows for telescope gazing. The class is held at midnight. The desks are grouped two and two just like in the previous years. On each desk there is a piece of parchment. Up at the front of the classroom Professor Roslund is sitting in his chair, and is lazily flipping through/ reading the latest issue of the daily prophet. Behind him on the blackboard a message is written. Quote:
OCC: Class has STARTED! Don't RP arriving late! Don't edit your posts. Lesson track posts: Start of class/first question Mercury/testing telescopes Focus charm/more mercury info |
Jogging into the classroom, Thea stopped to ..breath. She had been panicing about being late when infact.. she was.. first. Arghhh! Looking up, she grinned at the professor. 'Hello professor!' she called brightly, as she straightened up. Grabbing her bag from the floor, she chose a seat near the front of the room. Digging her quill out from her bag, Thea wrote her three deatils on her piece of parchment. Text Cut: thea's parchment<3 Done! Jumping slightly, her normal piece of parchment turned itself into a name plate. Shaking her head, she turned it round andpushed it too the front of her desk. |
Astronomy. Interesting. Beatrice walked to the Astronomy tower and found out that there are already a crowd of students inside the Classroom. It was their first lesson and she was utterly excited. "Good day Professor," she greeted as she walked past him. Choosing a seat at the near front, she saw the writings on the board. It was the same as their Transfiguration class where the parchments would turn into name plates. She happily wrote the necessary information, Quote:
And as expected, it turned into a name plate. They always do. Now time to wait for the other students. |
Pam walked into astronomy with an excited look on her face. She couldn't wait to start class. The classroom wasn't very full, so she took a seat towards the front. She pulled out a Quill and a black inkwell from her bag and started writing on the parchment. Parchment Quote:

Jesifur had read the code of conduct several times for each class but this one, well, this one she read once more to be positive just before class. As she reached the doorway to the room she shrugged. "It may have been a typo but just to be on the safe side, at least through the doorway, she thought. Securing her bag on her shoulder she bent in half at the waist, and set her hands palms down on the floor inches in front of her feet with her rear stuck into the air. With a bit of effort she slid her hands forward about a foot, palms firmly on the floor as well as feet. Her body straddled awkwardly in the doorway, she then took both feet with great effort and slid them through the threshold. Her hands and feet were still firmly planted upon the ground inches from each other again and her rear still in the air but completely in the room now. Standing herself upright again she smoothed out her robes and giggled. "Arrive to class in a clam manner." Check! She glanced around the room and found a seat. Taking out a quill she wrote on the parchment. Jesifur Hitchens First Year Hufflepuff |
:claw: Harvey enters the classroom and greets the professor even though he is reading the paper. "Hello Professor, how are you today?" Harvey asks politely before taking a seat. He then notices something is written on the board Quote:

He hoisted his Hello Kitty schoolbag over his shoulder and walked towards the front of the classroom. "Hello Professor" he greeted with a bright smile. The man looked familiar but he couldn't wrap his finger around where he had seen him. "Can't wait for the lesson~" He bowed before turning around and eyed the students that were already sitting behind the desks. "Hi" he said to Thea as he sat down next to her and started to scribble his name on a piece of parchment. **~~Daichi Katharos~~** **~~Second year~~** **~~Slytherin~~** He watched as the parchment formed in to a name card and placed it in front of him. |
Violet was so glad to be looking at the sky, rather than trying to fly through it, that she was prepared to like Astronomy as she headed up to the tower that evening. As she entered the room, she saw the professor reading the paper and noticed the instructions on the board. She found a seat, got parchment, ink, and quill out of her bag, and wrote down her name, as indicated: Parchment: Quote:

Marilyn walked into the Astronomy tower smiling. She'd just had potions and things had went awesomely. It also helped that it was her favorite class...and a Hate Potion was involved. Yes, she was a POTIONS beast. RAWR... What is this? Quote:
Quote:
Finishing that, Marilyn looked up...seeing the Professor sitting at his desk. She always seem to miss them when they were already there. "Hello, Professor..." |
Astronomy. Definitely something Nora was looking forward to learn about, even though she would much prefer to sleep at that late hour. Yawning before entering the classroom, she put on a smile on her face. "Hello, professor." And there she was, yawning again. She took sat down at the closest desk and then took a piece of parchment to write everything that was needed on it. Quote:
|
Lysandra walked into the Astronomy classroom, seeing only a few students there. She wondered how many people would actually be here. Astronomy wasn't a boring class but she didn't particularly care for it, but it was on her schedule so she couldn't argue. She walked around the classroom and took a seat. She saw a blackboard behind the teacher and took out a piece of parchment, a quill and ink. SPOILER!!: parchment The parchment then turned to a name plate. She grinned as it happened. She still can't believe how magic can be so cool. |
Text Cut: ddddaichi! Drumming her nails on the desk, Thea sat up slightly as she heard somebody greet her. Turning to look, she raised her eyebrows until she saw who it was. Thea smiled.. no BEAMED when she saw it was Daichi. Mwaha, he may not of realised but in Thea's book, this officially meant they were PALS! 'Hello..' She lifted her hand and gave him a small wave. She wouldn't chat too much in this class though.. not after Muggle Studies after she lost 5 points for Gryffindor. Chewing her lip, she shrugged, shaking it off. She could talk a little bit.. just until the lesson started. Hehe. |
ASTRONOMY! Louisa was excited, it was the first year to attend this class. Walking up to the classroom, the girl walked in with a beaming smile on her face. "Hello, sir." HI! I AM ATTENDING STARS CLASS! ^__^ Sitting at the first free desk, Louisa brought up a quill and wrote: Quote:

Kimalia walked into the Astronomy classroom following a few other students, she turned her head to see the professor reading something. She was unsure whether to interrupt his reading or appear rude by ignoring his presence without greeting. "Good day, Professor." She said regardless, before reading the board after taking her seat to write her name on the parchment. Quote:
|
Ashley had been so torn between attending class and just going to bed. But there he was, awake and heading on into the class. Did it have to be so late? Actually, it probably did. He nodded toward the professor with a "Good morning, professor," before finding a seat and settling into it. Before he pulled his parchment over to him, he suddenly started to wonder if he had said that wrong. But it was technically morning, wasn't it? So he just went ahead and let it go, getting down to the business of filling in the info on his parchment so it could go ahead and be cool and become a name plate, writing in neatly: Quote:
|
Rory rushed up to the Astronomy tower and into the classroom, eagerly awaiting the study of space and stars and stuff. His parents had told him about this particular subject a few times and he had grown excited about it ever since. Seeing planets, learning about the stars...what could be better than that? Rory's eyes landed on the desks, each that had a piece of parchment laid upon them. He speed-walked to a desk in the middle of the classroom, pulled out a quill from his bag and began to write down his information: Quote:
|
Penny walked in the Astonomy room, looking around she saw a few other students had stayed up late too in order to attend class... Seeing the Professor, Penny greeted him.."Hello Professor, I hope you are well", and she went to find a seat and take her telescope from her bag along with parchment, quill, ink and her textbook. Not really willing to wait for the girl to answer that it was all right to stay there, Gwen grabbed the piece of parchment, and started writing. SPOILER!!: Gwen's parchment |
Selina walked into the astronomy tower and took a gander around the room. It was different than her previous years, mostly because there was a new professor sitting in the room. Selina walked past his seat and nodded to him, "Good evening Professor." Then she made her way to an empty two seater desk. Which ever one of her friends decided to sit next to her could. She was not particular. Then she took out her quill and signed: Quote:

Hugo entered the Astronomy classroom and yawned upon arrival. It was late. He was normally late with the sleeping thing, but after a busy day of class.... And Astronomy wasn't just looking at the pretty stars. It was haard! "Good evening and almost morning professor," he said and took a seat. He looked down and found a piece of parchment. He looked up. Ah, he was supposed to do the name thing again. Hugo took out his quill and ink and scribbled down: Quote:

Indiana loved stars. So she was very much looking forward to this lesson, and would be a bit disappointed if they didn't cover stars. But she really didn't know if stars were an actual magical item, so she wasn't that concerned really. She could go use her telescope to look at stars if she really needed too. So that would be fun. But right now she had just wandered down into the astronomy classroom, ready to have fun. "Good afternoon..." She paused, with a little grin, as she stepped closer to the man. "Superman.." She mused with a giggle. Yes. She had not forgotten him dressing up as superman for that random, and rather weird party. "I hope you're having a good evening Professor Roslund" She concluded with a smile, before turning around, and taking a seat near the front of the classroom. Grabbing her quill, she wrote onto the card. Quote:

Adam strode into the astronomy classroom an found Hugo an Selina there.Making a quick escape Adam made way for Hugo said a simple,"Hello, buddy."Adam did as instructed to an wrote Adam Burn,5th,Gryffindor |
Walking into the classroom, Ira greeted the professor,"Good Day Professor" Seeing the parchment floating around, Ira took it and wrote down her details: Quote:

Luna walked into the astronmy classroom ''Hello Proffeser'' she greeted and took a seattook a seat and looked at the piece of paper Ughhh...... She got out a quill and started writing on the parchment SPOILER!!: Info X3 Should be fun or interesting it's Astronomy after all.... |
Ok, sure, they'd lucked out getting Divination on the ground floor, but he still had to CLIMB to get to Astronomy. Huff puff. Once he finally reached the old classroom, he looked around and took an empty seat near the front. Uggh. Another nametag. Alex was sick of nametags, but he knew the professors had to learn their names SOMEHOW. They weren't all Seers. He pulled out a piece of parchment, scribbled his name down and shoved it to the front of his desk with a smile. Quote:
|
Aww look, this was just like History of Magic! Hottie professor, charmed name plates, She settled into the desk next to Alex and gave him a friendly smile before starting to decorate her nametag. Quote:

Ah astronomy... A subject that Gideon most certainly knew more then the average student. He did after all get a lot of exposure to it over the summer while living under the same roof as his mum whose chosen profession was infact an astronomer. So when class was scheduled to take place, the fourth year headed up to the astronomy tower it was with just a tad of excitement ready to learn whatever was planned. "Good evening Professor," he greeted with a polite nod as he entered. He looked around at the layout of the room and noticed the familair pairing as well as spotting Selina already there. He almost moved to sit with her but then realised he had been doing that a lot lately and didn't want to appear like she had to pair with him so he took a seat in a pair of desks nearby. Getting settled, he took out a quill and began making out his name tag. Quote:

O__O Midnight was a late time for Auggie to go to class, despite the hour the Gryffindor found himself walking into the classroom on the Astronomy tower. The third year entered the room and smiled in the Professor's direction, "Good evening Professor." Then he made his way to a desk and began to write on his parchment. SPOILER!!: Auggie's future nametag Yawn..... |
Thomas was feeling better than he had in a long time. Less miserable and ready to try and learn something. Anything. Magical subjects were proving to be as much of a struggle as muggle ones for the poor boy. He sauntered into the classroom and gave the professor he'd already met a toothy smile when he recognised him. “Evenin' Professah Roslund.” He greeted him. He squinted at the board behind the man and sighed, getting the basis of what they were supposed to do when he saw the other students completing their nametags. He wandered to the back of the room and sat heavily, his mood suddenly darkening as he wrote out his nametag. SPOILER!!: Tom's nametag |
Cael smiled as he looked around the room with interest. It was late, but even the fact that he was exhausted couldn't squash his evident excitement. Walking over to one of the desks, he quickly jotted down his information on the parchment. Quote:
|
Chelsea walked to the Astronomy Tower excited. She always had taken a liking to Astronomy. It was just a very interesting subject. "Hello Professor" she said as she took a seat. She took out her ink, quill, and a piece of parchment. Quote:
As she finished she looked up at the sky and smiled. Then she looked around the class room and noticed a few people that she knew. At least some of my friends are in here she thought. And waited for class to start. |
Scott walked slowly into the classroom, he was exhausted. "Good day professor" he said smiling at the professor. He saw Chelsea and let out a wave and an inaudiable noise, and sat down. Then he noticed that he was supposed to follow an instruction given by the professor. Quote:
Actually, his own name plate sounded pretty cool. He reluctantly started writing: Quote:

William was not sure if he could manage to get to Astronomy class this late at night. Clutching a stitch in his side and breathing heavily, he clambered into the Astronomy Classroom. He barely made it passed the threshold before he leaned against the wall, clutching his chest and inhaling deeply. He pushed his glasses up his sweaty nose and walked up to the class after about five minutes. He approached the parchment and scribbled on it. Quote:

Ryan walked into the Astronomy Classroom and sat down on chair. He wrote his name down on a peice of parchment. Name:Ryan Pictor Year:First House:Gryffindor |
Sky was excited to study Astronomy! She had always loved looking at the stars and would listen closely as her mother pointed out the different formations. She found an empty set desks and sat at one, while putting her things in the chair beside her. She didn't want any sleepy heads bothering her. Although her friend was perfectly welcome if she came in. "Hello, professor!" Sky said, just spotting him and not wanting to be rude. Then she read the board and followed the directions. Quote:

I got a bit ambitious with Paint xD (and I probably won't be around much tomorrow) Stella couldn't really say she was entirely excited over Astronomy class. More accurately, except for the fact she'd already spoken to Professor Roslund at the start-of-term feast and so felt a bit more comfortable here than in some of her other lessons (except for those that were already her favorites), she was fairly apathetic about the lesson. As long as she wasn't forced to say anything about lunascopes, she'd be fine, though. Plus, the hour didn't bother her, as she'd managed to locate some coffee not that much earlier so she was at least slightly buzzed on caffeine. Not to mention midnight seemed like the most logical time for a true Astronomy lesson. "Bonsoir, Professor Roslund," she said with a grin, for once not accidentally using French. Part of that was the caffeine, but for some reason she thought he'd accept the use of another language as well. Not to mention she still didn't know if he, as an astronomer, had studied much about the history of people who had created useful items in his subject and maybe the French would distract him. Either way, after greeting him, she made her way to an open pair of desks, not far from where Auggie was seated just because at least she knew the younger boy, then wrote the information requested on the parchment in her best handwriting. If she was going to have yet another classroom nameplate, at least this one could be pretty. Text Cut: :P |
Maybe he liked Astronomy but that didn't mean he liked to recieve classes at midnight. It was hard, very hard for Nikolas to leave his comfy bed and headed to his next class...at midnight! Well, it made sense to have it at night. It was Astronomy, study of the stars and blah blah blah and it was obvious they weren't going to see anything in broad daylight. Still, it annoyed him to be heading to a class and not to his bed. He finally reached the Astronomy Tower, he was a bit tired and stepped into the classroom and greeted the professor "Evenin professor" he slightly nodded. He took a seat and wrote down his nametag. Quote:

Kaiya, happy for the class to begin, wrote down her name on a piece of parchment paper. Kaiya Gillmore First Year Slytherin Kaiya sat down and waited silently, for futhermore instructions. |

Kennedy wasn't a happy guy. Nope. He was going to miss his beautiful sleep. Gosh, that made him feel like such a softy, but he did much prefer to be in his bed, wrapped by his comforters. Gah! That made him even sleepier. He entered the class and greeted the professor. "Hello, Professor," he said, stifling a yawn. He took a seat and after writing his name he crossed his arms and then rested his chin on them. At least, he had taken a nap earlier that day. Quote:

Harlow yawned big and tried to catch it with her hand, but missed. She blinked the sleep out of her eyes and walked into class. She looked around for a place to sit and found a seat near Kennedy. It took a lot of effort for her to get her brain working enough to write out her name plate.

This looked like it would be a fun class, though it was rather late. She never got to stay up this late at home, so that was rather exciting. Kourtney entered the classroom close behind Indy and took a seat next to her. "Hello professor." She greeted with a smile before glancing at her friend. Picking up a quill, she jotted down her name, year, and house as requested Quote:

Presley danced into the room and dropped her bag by a front sort of seat. She read the instructions, and pulled out a fresh sheet of parchment. This was a great idea and all, but with all of the teachers doing this, Presley was never going to have any spare parchment. Quote:
Except for that she'd just noticed that her third finger nail on her right hand had a chip in the paint. She couldn't fix it now, she was in class. There wasn't enough time! And Pres was OCD enough that she wouldn't be able to focus on anything else until it was fixed. Nothing at all. It wasn't that she really was that shallow to care so much about her appearance, it was that something was wrong, out of place, broken. It shouldn't be like that. It was like straight lines. It wasn't perfect, and Presley had to be perfect. In studies, in appearance, in intellect, in sports, Presley had a driving need for perfection. And this finger nail was imperfect. |
Alyssa walked into the Astronomy classroom. She was looking forward to being on this class because she always loved looking up at the sky at night and seeing the stars. She would try to find the ones she knew by name like the Milky Way and The Three Sisters and try to count them. As she entered the classroom, she greeted the Professor who was sitting in his chair,"Good evening, Professor Roslund." she nodded to him. She then went to take a seat at one of the desks. She read the instructions that the Professor had written on the blackboard and looked down to find a parchment on the desk she was sitting at. Taking out her quill, she wrote: Quote:

*YAAAAAWWWWWNN* Nate was exhausted. He was very excited, yes, but exhausted. He was enticed by the legend of the tower itself, lest astronomy class. So this is where Dumbledore died... he thought, looking over the railing to the ground, which was not visible through the darkness. He found a piece of parchment, read the Professor's instructions, and wrote his name, year, and house on the parchment. Quote:
|
Kurumi walked into the Astronomy classroom and made her way towards the front of the room. Astronomy had never really been her favorite subject at Hogwarts despite Junichiro raving about it. It had always seemed a bit dry to her and she had become even less enchanted with it last term when the rude Ravenclaw girl did nothing but put people down and argue about every little detail. She bowed to the professor before sitting down in her seat and grabbing a quill to write her name, house, and year on a piece of parchment. Quote:
|
The walk from the Ravenclaw Common Room to the Astronomy Tower was a short one, so he always skip breakfast when he had Astronomy in the morning. There was no way he was going to go all the way to the Great Hall then all the way back up. Other than a bit hungry, Eino was good and excited for another Astronomy lesson. It wasn't really his thing, but he always found it interesting, just too complicated. He entered the classroom, greeted the professor, and took a seat. First thing he did was take out a quill and ink bottle to execute the instructions on the blackboard, then he settled himself and waited for class to begin. Quote:
|
Jenny walked into the door of the Astronomy Tower, finally happy to be in another one of her favorite classes again. Astronomy wasn't too much work. Still required a lot of thinking, but not physically demanding as Transfiguration or Flying for that matter. "Hello, Professor." Jenny greeted before writing on her parchment: Quote:

It was almost midnight. Lana was tired and wanted to sleep, but she had astronomy to go to. She slowly dragged her feet and she walked the stairs to get to the top of the tower. She yawned. Ahh, wake up Lana. It'll be fun looking at the stars. She entered the classroom and tried to pep up. "Hello Professor," she greeted with a smile. She noticed something was written on the board. Oh okay, nameplates. Of course. She took a seat and grabbed the parchment placed on her desk. She searched for a quill in her bag. She was digging through for quite awhile. Oh come on! I know I JUST put one in here. Hmm... She then whispered, "Accio quill." When her quill came into her hand, she smiled. Alright then, onto the nameplate. She pulled her parchment close to her once more and began to write: Quote:
She pushed the parchment a little bit away from her. Just like that, it turned into a nameplate. She smiled again. Magic would never cease to amaze her. |
Slipping into the classroom, Michelle firstly looked around for anyone she recognized. Seeing one of her potions classmate, she made her way to a seat near Ira after greeting the professor ("Good evening, sir!") Quote:

Astronomy. Astronomy! Oh, the class Adanna had been waiting for! Ok, so it was at midnight. But what did it really matter? Adanna prefered night over day, and staying up for this class didn't really bother her much. She sat down at an empty desk in the second row as her stomach flipped around in excitement. "Oh!" She exclaimed quietly when she noticed the words written on the blackboard. Ok.. just fill it out? She shuffled around in her bag for her quill. Once she found it, she slid the piece of parchment on her desk closer toward her and scribbled down: Quote:

Astronomy Class? Sounds cool. "Good evening, Professor." greeted Raven. Quote:
"Hey, Lana! Are you sleepy?" Asked her. Then she took a quill with the inkwell and a piece of parchment, wrote down her name SPOILER!!: parchment |
Janice walked to the astronomy tower feeling a bit sleepy and somehow excited. "Goodnight, Professor!" she said before picking up a random seat. She filled in the piece of parchment which quickly turned into a silver name plate. Cool!! she thought. SPOILER!!: Tag |
Jackie walked in. 'Good evening, Professor.' She was a night person, so the lateness didn't seem to affect her negatively. She took a seat and wrote the necessities. Quote:
She moved it slightly away from her and watched with amazement as the parchment turned into a classy silver nameplate. |
MIDNIGHT... Jonathan's sleep is indeed disturbed by the fact that class is at midnight. Why midnight? He was sound asleep but then he remembered that Astronomy class starts today. It took him 15 minutes to wake up and not go back under his blankets. Yawns. He can't just help but yawn. He didn't even had the time to comb his hair but his hair is fine anyway. He went up to the Astronomy tower with a half-asleep thoughts. SNAP OUT OF IT! Jonathan shook his head and gathered his senses back before entering the room. Astronomy should be a fun subject. What if they get to see someone transform into a werewolf right? ' Jonathan walked inside and saw a lot of students already in their seats. Jonathan went to look for a seat and as he did, he saw the parchment. Yes, they needed to fill that one up with the basics. Quote:
He took a seat back again. |
Tiffany went into the classroom. This was going to the place where she would have her astronomy lessons. Actually she knew little about it and that's why she wanted to know more. She stepped inside and noticed that the professor was sitting at the table, reading. She greeted with a big smile on her face,"Good day, professor." Then she took a seat in the middle of the classroom so that she can concentrate in studying and listening. She followed the order of the professor and so she took out her quill. Quote:

Promises. True, Ellie had already broken the promise by refusing to attend Potions, but she had her reasons. Astronomy had far fewer reasons to be avoided. And so here the Captain was. She was far from happy at the hour this class was held. Not that she thought that midnight was ridiculously late, but she had plans on getting some flying practice in early in the morning. Yet, that wasn't happening. She wouldn't compromise sleep for flying. That would be counter productive. Everyone knew you should never fly drowsy. The fifth year walked the short walk to the classroom, gave the pretty teacher a small smile of greeting, and found a desk near the center of the cluster of desks. Then she took out her quill and wrote up her name tag. Text Cut: Naaaame So....Let's try and NOT get completely lost this term, yes? Make her mum proud. |
Max was sleepy. He would have preferred camping out in his dormitory for the night, but he could handle Astronomy, right? It really was an interesting class and didn't require him to do too much strenuous thinking. As he entered the classroom, his eyes first shifted to the blackboard then immediately averted to the empty seats. And there it was. The open seat next to Ellie beckoned him - he hurried to take it before anyone else did. SCOOORE! Sliding into the seat, he flashed Ellie a friendly smile and mindlessly scribbled out his name tag. He was smooth. Quote:

SPOILER!!: The Hello people Edvard had just started to work on the crossword puzzle about famous witches & wizards through wizarding history when the first few students trickled into his classroom. Closing his prophet with a small inaudible sigh he pulled out a desk drawer and pushed the paper down inside it. Standing up he said firing off warm welcome smiles in all directions. "Good evening Miss Eden, Miss Castell, Miss Force, Miss Reed, Miss Carter, Miss Fanster, Miss Moon, Miss Skylar!" "Good evening to you too Mister Doyle, I hope you don’t mind the late hour for class?" Edvard didn’t have any time to get into a more deep conversation before more students strolled into the astronomy tower. "Good evening Miss Wilson, Miss Kieren, Mister Gert, Mister Goldstein!" The next student who came into the tower classroom was none other than the boy whom had stumbled into his office by accident. "Good evening Tom! Did you ever check out the room of requirement?" Edvard grinned inwardly astronomy seemed to be a popular subject after all since the trail of student’s didn’t seem to be stopping. "Good evening Mister Ashdown, Miss Charm, Mister Rowe, Miss Carter Hope, Miss Wheatborn, Miss Potter, Mister Agger, Mister Escalante, Miss Lams, Miss Takahashi, Miss Warrington!" Bonsoir? Edvard blinked before he laughed and blinked at the girl who had greeted him in French "Bonsoir Miss Gardiner!" He couldn’t speak much French but a simple greeting he could manage. SPOILER!!: Silent students The next 10 or so students that filed in were silent at least when it came to greeting him. They either just ignored him to take a seat next to a buddy or because they just wanted to grab a good seat. Others were probably shy. SPOILER!!: Talkative bunch As a boy of what could only be of Asian heritage was the first to muster up the courage to say more than Hello to him. Edvard shoot the boy a friendly smile and also a girl from Hufflepuff "I'm very well Mister Katharos and? I didn't get your name dear (Trish) I hope you both are feeling good too?" He certainley didn't want to have to send a student to the hospital wing if he could help it. From out of the blue the little girl whom he had met at the death day party showed up. "Good evening to you too Indiana! Sorry i didn't bring my superman outfit." Sending her a wink he turned to the blackboard. ******************* Professor Roslund waited some more minutes to give the last stragglers time to assemble. Turning to face the class he cleared his throat and spoke to his student's "Good evening class! I'm Professor Edvard Roslund. I will be teaching you about outer-space during the year." Clapping his hands the writing on the board dissappeared and new writing came in its place. Quote:
"Before we go deeper into the lesson. Let's create a common ground to stand on. In your opinions what is astronomy?" Edvard sat down on the edge off the desk and waited for the answer's to start pouring in. ----------------------- OCC: The lesson has started. Please don't edit your posts. Keep the chatting to a continued minimum. If you want to chat to your deskmate then do so about astronomy, nothing else! I will add greetings to more people when i have more time. What was Astronomy? Now, indiana was pretty sure that there was a big proper definition. But she actually didn't know it. But, she didn't let that bother her. She had a little idea of what it might be, well what she thought it might be anyway. Firstly she wrote the question down on her parchment, so she'd be able to write down what the other students thought Astronomy was. After doing that she raised her hand, with a smile on her face. She liked Professor Superman. He had a super fun lesson. "I think Astronomy is about stuff in space." Like. Not space as in the same infront of her face. Like outer space. "Like about planet, and stars. And stuff like that. It sounds really cool." |
That was a decent start to the lesson in August's opinion. Hmm... the Gryffindor thought for a minute about what he was going to say before he answered. "Professor, Astronomy is the study of celestial bodies in the universe around us." Auggie lowered his hand after speaking and began to make tiny doodles on the corner of his parchment. |
Basics. Max could handle that. "Astronomy is, err, pretty much the study of outer space and celestial bodies - constellations, planets, stuff like that. Their positions and movement, too," Max noted thoughtfully, a hand in the air. He hesitated as if to add more, but stopped himself. A brief summary should be okay. |
Okay, Ashley was starting to get worried again. Why was it always 'miss'?? But just like last time, he didn't say anything, figuring it would be best to let it go instead of making a big deal out of it. Instead, he got ready to take notes, giving the professor his full attention. Raising his hand as soon as he thought about the question for a moment, he volunteered, "Astronomy is study of the stars and planets and space and... all the stuff in it." That answer sort of got away from him, because he kept thinking of stuff while he was talking, so he just ended it there, quieting down in a slightly uncomfortable way. |
Yeyy ! The lesson was on a roll ! Now, what is Astronomy. Beezus hand shot up in the air and when she was given time to speak, "Professor, Astronomy is the study of Celestial beings such as stars, comets, the planets ." she said. Well, that shouldn't have been so bad. After all, it was based on one's opinion. |
What is Astronomy? Thea blinked. Good job it was an opinion he was aksing for because she had no idea what the exact definition was.. Raising her hand slowly, Thea thought about her answer. 'I think.. astronomy is about the stars and the planets.' Thea smiled a little bit. 'About their positions, and maybe their history. ' Thea was mainly thinking about constellations when she said this but she guessed the professor may get that.. 'Their positions too, and planets of other planets.' That was all.. |

Once the professor asked the first question, Nora's hand shot up in the air. "Astronomy is the science in which planets, stars, galaxies, and so on are studied." And not only that, but she wasn't going to start rambling about Merlin knew what silly thing. |
"Astronomy is the study of the stars, moons, planets and other things that make up the universe," Sky replied. She smiled. This professor seemed easygoing, especially for being up this late. |
It took all his will not to roll his eyes at the first question. It was a silly one, really. Silly and basic. He considered whether to answer it or not for a moment. It was so simple, after all. But, Slytherin was just ahead of Ravenclaw and he wanted to do as much as he could to keep it that way. So, João Neves raised his hand at the question and said "It is the study of the space outside the world." A basic answer to a basic question. |
"i'm good, professor, thank you Daichi smiled back , feeling happy that the new professor was actually nice. Atleast for now... He held his hand in front of his mouth as another yawn escaped his mouth. But even though he was tired his eyes still showed the sparkle they always had. He then gave a quick wave of his hand at Thea next to him when she greeted him before raising his hand in the air to answer the question. "I think Astronomy is the study of outer space, right?" he asked. "About the moons, suns , star" he chuckled softly as he remembered that Thea had called stars 'twinkling things' before. "Galaxies and...wait..there was something else.." he bit his lower lip as he thought. "Conste...constel..something" he blushed as he just couldn't figure out the word and finally lowered his hand. |

"Professor, astronomy is the study of celestial bodies in the universe, right? Such as stars, planets, meteors..." Then her mind went off into a tangent as she thought about travelling on shooting stars... Nope, she can't do that; she has to focus in class right now...or else. |
Text Cut: Professor Edvard Roslund :claw: Harvey put up his hand "I think Astronomy is a type of science that looks at the study of stars, planets, comets, galaxies in short the whole universe. It looks at the evolution and development of the universe like how it was formed and stuff." Harvey hoped he was right :claw: |
Hugo raised his hand. "Well I think Astronomy is the study of everything that is beyond this earth. |

What is astronomy?Hmmm....Ness knew what Astronomy was, she just didn't know how to explain it. She raised her hand and waited her turn choosing to try and answer "Astronomy is..erm" she paused to think. "Is the study of everything outside planet earth" she continued hoping the Professsor understood her explanation. |

SPOILER!!: Professor Roslund(: "What is astronomy?" Jayden mumbled to herself, contemplating her answer before she raised her hand. "Astronomy is the study of the stars, constellations and planets, that we can observe by making charts and using telescopes... some people even include it in their divination and zodiac studies, and other people might use it for magical or scientific purposes." She answered, praying that she was right. |
Violet had raised her hand when the professor first asked the question. When he called on her, she answered, "Astronomy is the study of outer space and the things that are in it--stars, comets, meteors, galaxies, and their movements...oh, and black holes, and strings, and things like that!" Her Muggle uncle had talked to her about weird stuff like that, when they were looking at that exhibit in the museum one time. |
Scott raised his hand with more enthusiasm than he normally would, after all; he found astronomy exciting. "Professor I believe that Astronomy is a part of science that studies celestial objects, space, and the physical universe" he smiled. He cautiously continued, careful of what others had said already, as to not repeat them. "Furthermore, it studies the size, motion and position of these objects" Maybe he was wrong, but who cares? They can't penalize you for not being entirely sure. |

Yup, that about summed up everything on the topic that was rattling around in his head. Whether or not the Professor agreed was a whole other story. |
Maybelle snapped back to reality. She loved learning about the stars. It was her favorite thing to do. Her hand shot up in the air. "Sir, Astronomy is the way we learn about stars and they're formation, but it is not just about stars." She said. "Astronomy is about the Earth's history. How it was made, why the stars are. And how the entire Universe was made." She grinned happily at her answer. |

Tapping her chin for a moment, she raised her hand, "Astronomy is..." She remembered this was previous classes..."derived from the Greek words for star law, and is the scientific study of all objects beyond our world." Why was it that they always opened classes with a question like this? |

How was she supposed to know?! She'd been here two and a half years and was just now having her first real Astronomy lesson. Sierra fidgeted with the hem of her jumper as she listened to her classmates answer. A little while later, she raised her hand, too. "Astronomy is...," she said, trailing off slightly, "the study of anything outside the Earth's atmosphere. Like, other planets, stars, and things like that." |
this is what I get for having a NASA engineer as a dad XD Well, at least this professor wasn't getting into complicated sound wave discussions or talk about aliens, right? Hopefully, but Kurumi was a bit tired of classes being kicked off with, 'What is blah blah.' Slowly, she raised her hand. "Astronomy is a natural science, meaning that it attempts to explain the natural world. It is essentially a study of celestial objects and phenomena that exist outside of our atmosphere, our's meaning the Earth's. Astronomy also studies the physical laws and origins of our universe in attempt understand them. It is said to be one of the oldest sciences, practiced by ancient Egyptians and Babylonians. It shouldn't be confused with Astrology, which is also the study of celestial bodies, but places its emphasis on hoe the stars and planets affect a person's personality, human affairs, and natural events." And she was putting her hand down now. |
Merlin's beard, some of these kids spoke like they were real live astronauts or something! All this jibber jabber about 'celestial bodies' and whatnot. Wowza. Tori was lost already. But she raised her hand to contribute anyway. "Astronomy is about studying the planets and moons and stars and comets and asteroids and space junk and how it all moves around and interacts and affects us here on Earth." Good enough guess. She's done gone and used up all of her space knowledge right there in one sentence. |
Nikolas was going to try hard to not fall asleep during this class, so answering the first question was going to help him to stay awake. Soooo....what was astronomy? Nikolas raised his hand, ready to answer "Astronomy is the study of the stars, galaxies...you know the celestial objects and also studies the outerspace phenomena" he said. Astronomy was probably the easiest class, the most normal compared to other classes. In other words, the most muggle-like class minus the magic. |
Eh, Eino raised his hand. "Astronomy is the study of everything in the universe, like stars, galaxies, and planets." That was a rather simple answer, but he didn't know much about Astronomy, so better play it safe than to ramble and be incorrect. Plus, he always got Astronomy and Astrology confused, so he didn't want to make that publicly known. |
It was Astronomy time again, and Ryden was being VERY quiet. Yep. No need a repeat of last year. It had been quite embarrassing, looking back on it. Oh well - at least the professor wasn't the same... Though SHE was here. And she was a prefect now; wasn't that just fantastic. Psht. NEVER MIND. She wasn't getting into that again. IGNORING the people who swallowed encyclopedias in their spare time - yes, YOU, Gryffindor prefect - Ryden raised her hand. "It's the study of everything outside planet Earth as well as anything beyond our physical grasp... Like the history of the universe, how its laws evolved, why it is the way it is - including Earth," she said, then lowered her hand again, straightening the name plate as she awaited the professor's answer. This was one of the few classes she actually liked; the fifth year wasn't going to ruin it for herself by losing control. |

Then recovering quickly, she thought about the question... What is Astronomy? Putting her hand in the air, she said "Sir, I think Astronomy is about the study of the moons, planets and stars - and plotting their movements through the cosmos and then discovering the meanings behind the movements, like what it will mean to each of us personally" |
"Professor. I think Astronomy is the study of the stars, planets, and moons. It studies the movements and the constellation as well." |
"Hello, sir. I think that Astronomy is studying anything beyond Earth." Kaiya said to the proffessor. |
Max! Ellie grinned at him as he sat beside her. Maybe that was just her problem in previous attempts at Astronomy - that she didn't have a friend. Maybe Max could help her when she got uber confused. Except the pretty Professor, Roslund, asked a pretty simple question. Thank Merlin. "It's a school subject." Easy peasy. |
Opinion on Astronomy... Jonathan shrugged when the professor raised the first question. At least, that woke him up a bit. So his opinion on astronomy eh? Jonathan raised his hand to answer "Professor, Astronomy is the study of the universe. It studies the way the universe moves, the size, the behavior of such objects and the composition of an astronomical object." |
Ariella raised her hand. "From what I know, astronomy is the study of the universe and the objects and bodies in it. It has to do with celestial items, stars, planets, and everything of that nature." She gave a slight smile, worrying that her answer was quite pitiful compared to everyone else's. |
Louisa's face flushed when the professor replied to her BY NAME! Like he already knew her! This subject was going to be epic, she knew it! And not because Louisa loved lessons and whatnot, but because Astronomy was.. Oh, wait, it was the first question. The girl shot her hand in the air and replied, "It is the study of the stars; their shape, composition, moving paths, and other things I don't know but I'm eager to learn!" Yes, she was going to say that for the rest of the lesson; She was eager to learn more. |
As class started, Rory made himself a bit more comfortable in his chair and awaited instructions. Looking at the board, he watched as some writing appeared, all of which formed a question: What is astronomy? Well, that was an easy question. Rory raised his hand slowly with a smug look on his face. "Astronomy can easily be described as the study of the stars, the moons, and the planets. Specifically, how they are aligned differently at times and what these alignments mean." Rory was completely finished with his answer until another thought came into mind. "Oh! And how all of these things affect us." He could forget that part? Now he was done. Putting his hands his head, he leaned back into his chair, listening to the other students' responses. |
Lysandra thought about it for a second and then raised her hand. I think astronomy is the study of celestial objects. Stars, planets, comets and such. |
