When not in use for games, the Quidditch Pitch is open for students to practice their Quidditch skills before attending team tryouts, and it's also open for students to practice their flying skills (make sure you get a broom from the Broomshed!)
Once the Quidditch season officially begins, team captains can 'book the field' with Professor Vindictus for practice and non-team members can watch practices occur. When practices aren't in session, the pitch is open for flying practice.
Note: This thread is for IC role playing and not chatter. All SS rules apply in this thread.
Simon was doing his best to avoid people as they raced, not wanting to be the cause and especially not involved in a collision. Too many chances during games to deal with one during practice. Swerving around a hufflepuff he accidentally caught the tail of Kurumi's broom but not feeling it with the movement he was going, he didn't realise it.
The wind whistling as he continued to race made it hard to hear or at least make out what Kurumi yelled but as he glanced back to look at Jacob to answer his fellow captain's taunt, "Don't be so sure, " he caught sight of something out of the corner of his eye. Facing forward for a moment to be careful, he looked back again to check on what he might have seen only to spot two persons in Gryffindor robes in apparent trouble.
Correction, two very familiar girls and Selina was in danger of falling!
No longer caring about the race Simon ignored Jacob and leaned himself into a turn as he rushed to his teammate's assistance. The captain pulled his broom beneath Selina so he could catch the second year who could still grab hold of her broom so it didn't fall. "I got you Selina..." he assured her so she would know to relax and sit in front of him on his broom.
Jacob rapidly caught up to Simon, but by the time, he was about to punch the kid, in order to get him out of Jacob's way, Simon veered off course.
What?!
Jacob pulled his handle and made a hard stop. He turned in mid air to see what the boy had gone of to do. Was he really going to cheat that way? At least Jacob cheated to the boys face, but really? Shortcuts?
But instead off seeing Simon speeding off, he saw the kid helping one of the Gryffindor players. Really? Jacob took his hands off the broom, his palms overturned. He looked around at all the spectators. What was going on.
"Dude?!" Jacob called to the older Captain
what was this madness. Was he forfeiting? Or What? So Not Cool Man!
Shaw pulled the plastic cup from the depths of his robe, a long dark robe that faintly resembled alligator skin. He strolled along wherever this here place was, grassy place, and sipped from the empty cup.
"You there," his dark sunglasses did nothing to help figure out exactly who he was speaking to. "Where you think we are??"
" Looks like a Shooting Star to me" William told Tayla. " WEll, I did not know we could not use our own brooms" William said to Tayla. " How do they expect us to make the team and have Gryffindor win the cup?" William asked Zara.
" You are trying ourt for your Quidditch team?" William asked Fee. " Rex never saw you play Quidditch" William told Fee. " I do not think it will be fair if I make the Gryffindor team and there is a certain hot blonde from the Slytherin team distracting me from doing my job" William laughed. " I hope we both make our repective teams" William explained to Fee.
Hey bro Hannah said getting on the broom and flying as high as they were.Okay how about we chose teams and play Quidditch.I mean i've never played they game since i've been here.
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.

Oakey went for it he had to go a couple feet forward to catch it. He reduced the distance by scooting up a bit on the broom leaned in and outstretched one arm to catch the quaffle in his right hand. He caught the quaffle in his hand and tucked it under his arm. He flew right back to Isobel and lobbed it back to her. Do you think you could maybe let some bludgers loose somewhere next? Oakey wanted to beat some of those into oblivion. After what happened to Harvey all Oakey could think about was hitting beating a bludger til it cracked like an egg I mean in like a secluded area.

Isobel shot upward to catch the quaffle while it was still high. She could have just waited for it to come down, but she had really wanted to zoom upwards. She floated back down to the height Oakey was at at bit her lip at his question. "Um, I don't think that would be such a good idea. Maybe you should wait until the tryouts for that." Finally, she was out of the trees and bushes. For being able to see the castle at all times during her walk, she'd sure got lost in there. It wasn't even the Forbidden part. Hateya walked around a random pillar-thing, picking off pieces of leaf and pine needles as she went.
"Heck if I know." She was just on the tail-end of getting over being lost, thanks just the same, "Somewhere with Quidditch I thi..." That was about the time she looked up from deforesting herself and saw that it was an adult talking. Crap. "I mean um... I don't know, sir."

Ivan flew around the pitch as fast as he could trying to out race Finn and laughing while he did it. This was fun. He should have tried out last term. Looking around he spotted someone he didn't recognized and slowed to a stop. What in the....
Who the hell was that? Ivan hopped off his broom and studied the man his hand going to his pocket where his wand was. It could be one of the ministry blokes but like Bothari always told him it was better to be prepared. Who was he talking to? Him? He saw a kid walk onto the pitch and looked curiously at her. Was he talking to her? "I think I'm at school and I think you're lost." He looked lost sure enough. Ivan glanced over his shoulder at Finn then back at the man, "You want me to grab a professor for you?" Because he wasn't leading him anywhere. Seeing the girl's face and change in sentence he knew the man wasn't with her. Hmmmm.

"HUH?" Shaw's face transformed, smushing together and reading loud and clear confusion. "Don't call me Sir. You'll get us BOTH killed, lickity SPLIT."
Shaw then karate chopped the air to show how they would get killed.
"I'm supposed to be somewhere."

Shaw jumped on top of the little girl when the BROOMS STARTED LANDING AROUND HIM. He covered her head protectively and yelled out in what sounded like Mandarin Chinese, but just as easily could have been garblegoogelygunk.

After that spell, Shaw, seemingly confused as to why he was on the ground with a little .... dwarf? Person? Thing? under him and some kid asking about a professor.
OH YEAH....Professor?
"That's me. Grab me. Pull me up, lad. I'm Shaw. I seemed to have fallen down on something?"

She forced a small smile, her legs slightly buckled and seemed rooted to the ground... no signs of them to be setting off any sooner.
Vashti watched as Louisa mounted her broom. So far so good, except she didn't seem all that comfortable. "Loosen up a little bit," she advised. "You're not making yourself anymore comfortable gripping it like that, even with the Cushioning Charm. Flying isn't as much fun if you're stiff as a board." Not that you wanted to be so loose that you fell off either. There was a happy medium in there somewhere.
She smiled a little. "If you'd like me to." And she kicked off the ground, but gently so that she only rose about five and a half feet.

Tears started to swell in her eyes, she was too high up to make it down with a minor injury. A major injury would be lucky. This fall would break her neck and she was only twelve.
The tears began to burn her eyes and her pinky finger lost it's hold on the broom, then her ring finger. The next finger she lost would be her inevitable fall. Why was she even holding on still? There was nothing that was going to stop her from her fall. So... she let go.
She expected some kind of hard crash and darkness, but it never came. Instead she felt a solid broom beneath her body and a strong torso supporting her tiny frame. Selina opened her eyes and saw Simon behind her. She had never been so happy to see anyone in her life. In relief she leaned against him with her back and started to cry. She thought she was going to die.

Simon gave a sigh of relief when Selina landed in his hold, smiling softly as she opened her eyes and looked up at him. Though he was a little taken back when she leaned further back against him, biting his lip at the slightly ackward closeiness that existed at the moment. The captain couldn't dwell much on the issue when he heard Jacon yell at him, the boy turning the broom gingerly so he could face him.
"You won...be happy! I just chose the safety of my housemates over a race," he yelled back before looking at Kurumi. Seeing her still spinning, Simon slipped out his wand from his pocket and aimed it at her. "Impendimenta!" he cast gradually stopping her movement so she wasn't jerked in his actions.

Aw Dangit Oakey said, Isobel had thrown the quaffle straight up it looks like Oakey needs to catch this one on the decent. He decided to put his broom close to a 90 degree angle, He locked his legs together and gripped hard with his left hand while he right his arm tucked to the side forming a kind of basket shape. So, so glad she'd had a light meal.
"Yeah..... sorry 'bout that, little squirt. Don't know what happened. That gravity is a mean old cow, no?" Shaw went to offer his hand as an apologetic gesture, but thought better of it and waved awkwardly instead.
"So my classroom?" Someone lead the way?

Isobel noticed the quaffle, but it didn't come to her so she assumed Oakey would get it. But then it started going down, right to the strange man. Oakey has yelled 'look out' but Isobel shot downward. She didn't think she's make it in time, but she did. And then he ran off. She looked up at Oakey. "Shall we go after him?" She so wanted to. Shaw turned his back on the girl with the snake on her robes, but continuously looked over his shoulder back at her. "That one ain't right. I don't like it. Take IT to your master."
"Yeah..... sorry 'bout that, little squirt. Don't know what happened. That gravity is a mean old cow, no?" Shaw went to offer his hand as an apologetic gesture, but thought better of it and waved awkwardly instead.
"So my classroom?" Someone lead the way?
Shaw took off towards the castle at a sprint, leaving the entire group behind. "EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF....."
Her eyes widening as the man asked Ivan if she was looking at him. Of course she was...who the heck was he? Wait, take it to your master? She wasn't an IT! Why did she not look right? What in Merlin's name had she done? All she'd done was come to assist if she could.
Frowning indignantly at the man, as she noticed him continue to look back at her, she shook her head. Oh, Merlin now he was running towards the school...

Ivan looked at the man as if he'd grown another head. Who WAS this man? "And what are you supposed to teach?" he asked crossing his arms. Ivan turned around and saw TJ standing there and smirked then turned back to the crazy man. "She's not doing anything." In fact he hadn't seen her in awhile something he needed to remedy.
This was all getting too much and way too confusing. "You have to tell us what you're teaching before I can tell you where you need to..." Then he was running off toward the castle and Ivan stared at TJ his eyes wide. "What do we do?" He was all for letting the adults handle it. Yup. Then again if crazy man hurt someone he was going to blame himself and...UGH. Worst day ever for him to decide to fly.
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.

Oakey wasn't about to let the interesting guy just go, HEY MISTER, WHAT ARE WE RUNNING FROM. He shouted while Oakey kept up with his pace on the practice broom. He was having to much fun now. Oakey looked behind himself and didn't see anything chasing them.
