Gobstones Preliminary: Ravenclaw vs. Gryffindor Josephina had been running quite late, which was, needless to say, unusual for the brown-haired Arithmancy Professor. But unfortunately, some minor things tied her over for a bit longer than planned. Stepping into the court area, she waited a moment for the Lions and Eagles to enter the court. As she was waiting, she removed the twin gobstones bags, one full of blue marbles and the other red ones, from her bag, handing it over to the respective teams. "You all should have familiarized yourself with the rules," she began. "There is a zero tolerance for cheating. Good luck." |

Jacob Blunt decides to take one for the Eagles first, rolling his blue stone onto the court with the precision one gains after years of practice. Or perhaps it was just his Quidditch Beater aim? Either way, the blue stone rolls to a stop just a bit away from the center Jack Stone. No sign of the Gryffindor Players yet, but Josephina knew from last year that they weren't ones to give up easily. Quote:

Nika Adler might not be as experienced in the game as some of the older kids, but one cannot deny that the feisty, intelligent young Lioness as good aim! Her precision must be attributed to chivalry or perhaps just sheer dumb luck; only a few more rounds will tell. Either way, its neck and neck right now in the first round... next roll should decide the round. Quote:

Leave it to resident part-house elf and book eater, Kurumi Hollingberry to take one for the Lions. Rolling her red stone with precision that clearly shows she had done this before, the red marble rolls not far from the Jack Stone. Nothing from Ravenclaws end though maybe attempt to knock the red one off, so Gryffindors take the first round. Quote:

Like the stone in her last name, Ellie Stone is quick to roll her blue marble onto the court, which rolls and comes to an abrupt stop a few centimeters off of the center Jack Stone. Not far behind comes the red stone thrown by Kurumi, which manages to bounce off the edge and the uses that momentum to then bounce off the blue one, ensuring it came to a stop just a few millimeters closer to the Jack Stone. Gryffindor gains the first point of the new round. ooc: Per the rule book: Spelling and grammar DO count, so make sure you proofread before you post (i.e. If it's a really difficult spelling and the second house to post gets the spelling correct, the point will go to that house) Quote:

Ellie Stone decided she did not like being outdone by bookeater and cookie-baker, Kurumi, which is why for the next play it almost seemed as though she threw it before the time was right (which she didn't but time was so close). The force though that she used seemed to propel her blue stone faster than the others as it rolled to a stop just a smidgen away from the center Jack Stone. But it wasn't Kurumi's red stone that challenged hers, rather that of a novice Gobstones player second year, Nika Adler, who was proving rather adept in the game. Not adept enough though, since Ravenclaw gained the point that time. Both houses are tied once more for the round. Not starting out to be an easy game for either house! Quote:

After a moment's pause, Head Boy Carmichael gave a look to his female housemates that said, Let me take one! Which he most certainly did show them how to the roll the stone, rolling one of the blue stones dangerously close to the center Jack Stone. So close, in fact, that it actually nudged it and caused it to erupt the first time of the match, spewing gob across the Gryffindor players robes. No wonder why they seemed lax in their stone rolling this round, barely challenging the head boy. Quote:

Gob or not, those Lions weren't about to give up just yet though; Riley Sinclair battled to throw his stone first onto the court area, which rolled to a stop just a few inches from the Jack Stone. No challengers from the Eagle side this time around. This back and forth could mean the match was anyone's. Quote:

It seemed nothing could stop those Lions; or at least not one Riley Sinclair who seemed determined for revenge. Where was Eliana Stone or Jacob Blunt or some of those other flying eagles? Had they decided that since you couldn't fly in Gobstones, they wouldn't bother? Apparently so, as the seventh year Lion took a clear shot to the Jack Stone, which sought to spew a fresh coat of gob.
