Maybe he should look more... energetic? Energetic. It was a rank-deciding match, after all. Jared couldn't quite shake off the laid-back look after he had arrived, ten or so minutes before either team did, though. Once things were in order and both teams were there, he handed each its respective gobstone bag.

"I hope you've all familiarized yourself with the rules," he drawled. He was supposed to repeat what he had said last time around, wasn't he? Maybe he ought to ask Josephina about this. "There will be no tolerance for cheating. Good luck."

The Eagles seem to have shaken themselves out of their sudden stupor - Head-boy Finlay Carmicheal reaches for a blue gobstone. His aim is precise, and gives the Ravenclaw supporters in the viewing area a reason to cheer.

This time, it's the Badgers that decide not to challenge their rivals.

Finlay Carmicheal and Conan Taylor roll a gobstone each. The two gobstones collide but, to the relief of the audience, do not knock each other out of play. The blue gobstone veers a little off course, while the yellow one comes to a rest right next to the Jack Stone.

Hufflepuff wins the round but, with Ravenclaw fighting back once more, it seems the match can go to either house.

Second year Badger, Conan Taylor, has proved his skill with gobstones before, and he proves them again, now: he aims a gobstone for the Jack Stone, and the yellow-coloured marble lands less than an inch away from its destination. The Jack Stone spews out a great amount of gob in all directions, which lands on a number of players, but that doesn't deter the Hufflepuff supporters in the viewing area, who continue to cheer and applaud.

All is quiet at the Ravenclaw end, once more. Will the point go to Hufflepuff without a fight? Yes, it seems it will.

The pit belongs to Finlay and Conan, once more, as the two reach for their gobstone bags. The yellow marble rolls towards the Jack Stone, the blue one right after it, but the former comes to a halt a little too soon: the blue marble passes it, stopping much nearer to the Jack Stone.

Ravenclaw takes the point. It's a draw, all over again!

For a moment, it seems the Eagles are going to let the shot go unchallenged, once again. Then Ravenclaw Captain Jacob takes the pit, and rolls a blue gobstone... which sails right past the yellow one.

Ravenclaw takes the round, and the Eagle supporters in the viewing area leap to their feet in relief.

Mr. Taylor isn't about to give up: the second year rolls another gobstone and, this time, his gobstone touches the Jack Stone before rolling back, and coming to a halt less than a centimetre away.

There is gob flying in all directions... and no response from the Ravenclaw end. It seems the Eagles know better than to attempt to outshine this shot.

The excitement in the air, as Conan rolled another gobstone for Hufflepuff, had a contagious feel to it. The yellow marble seemed to glide across the pit, gathering speed, until it hit the Jack Stone with a resounding thwack. Large amounts of gob flew through the air, announcing the end of the match in pure Gobstone fashion.

"Match over," Jared drawled. "Hufflepuff wins, and takes third place in this year's Gobstone Championship. Both teams played well, and it was an excellent match." Ravenclaw had fought till the very end. He straightened up, eyes much warmer than his voice - not that his voice was cold. Just... lazy? Lazy. If a voice can be called that - as he nodded to all the players. "Don't forget to shake hands with your opponents before leaving. Great game, everyone. Enjoy the rest of the term."
