After a nice apparation trip, and another crack!fartingsound! and pop!, the class found themselves in an alleyway, not far from their destination. Making sure every student that signed their name was still with the class, Maya slowly let go of the hands she was holding and called for everyone's attention. "We're here." Not that she had said where they were going...because, they'd find out soon enough. "Remember, act appropriately and stick together." She did not want to have to come back for someone after returning to Hogwarts. "Follow me please." Oh they'd better follow her...
A quick walk around the corner and finally, they arrived inside at the main entrance of this magnificent museum - go ahead, you have a moment to take in your bearings. Maybe you already noticed the larger than life skeleton of a Diplodocus nearby, one of many dinosaurs that roamed this earth many years ago. Or perhaps the grandness of the inside architecture has your attention.
There are quite alot of people in here today, tourists from other countries and the United Kingdom aswell. Curious people, perhaps just like all of you.
Having made sure that all the students were still here, Professor Saylen then proceeded to reach into her bag and take out a bundle of museum pamphlets with a map. She'd taken the liberty to mark where they should meet, incase anyone got lost. Also, she'd written her name, incase anyone still didn't know who she was...or simply forgot. Heh. "Everyone, take one of these," she had to raise her voice a little to be heard over the other buzzing visitors, "Open them and look at the map. See the encircled figure in the middle? That is where we are now. If anyone gets lost, you come back here and wait." Don't go off buying an icecream at the cafe. "...and I will come get you." Allright?
She let them take another moment to gather themselves, study the map a little, and just... maybe stare at the dinosaur bones. But, they would be moving on soon so this didn't overwhelm them all. "Very good, Miss Stone." Maya nodded at her first answer. Hearing her second answer though, almost made her skip with joy. "Yes! Indeed they are. Good thinking." Woot!
Why did this girl look like the answer disguisted her? Hehe. "Good answer, Miss Smith. Milk is a very important nutrition."
the Mexicana nodded as Jake shared his knowledge...alot of it. "Indeed. That is another important part of mammals. Good answer(s)." Hehe.
Maya stared. Stared at the boys answer. Well she stared at him for his answer. "Yes, these creatures would be mammals as we are in the mammal gallery." Unless she made the wrong turn? No. "But very good, Lions are indeed mammals."
What was that. What. Whaaaaaaaaaaat. "That is true, Miss Smith." Maya nodded, but gave the young girl a look as if to say the Mexicana was the one leading the lesson here.
Stuffed the lions? Hehe, had she heard that right?
But, "Warm blooded, that they are. Good answer, Miss Greingoth." Interesting, right? "A lion, that is correct." Nod nod.
Eh? "I agree. But, these are here for educational purposes. So I suggest you pay attention." So no answer to her question, then? Hm. "Tigers. Very good, Miss Lovegoods." Nod nod. Which actually brought them closer to their next topic. "A whale is another good example. Well done, Miss Lecium." Aw.
Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm, "Yes, something like that." Heh. Oh please don't get more worried now, students. Hehehe.
... "Yes, very good, Miss Connolly. A ferret is a nice example." And so very cute. And fierce. "Very good, Mister Rhodes." She nodded, "Dolphins are indeed mammal." "Allright, let's go over here." Maya walked over to the next stuffed up animal. Shudder. It was a great white teddy-bear looking animal. "This, is a Polar bear." Mhm. "Who here can tell me where these fellows live?"
Time for more chocolate-coffee. Yum. Having seen them in the Atlanta zoo he remebered " Around the north pole,he allways liked polar bears over all of the bears cuz they could swim for long distances, and because of the old coke ad's on TV

And could take away Saylen's position in no time. Ha.
Treyen's eyes widened. Whaaat!? Ellie could never be on Saylen's side. NEVER. "Yeah, to you she isn't." He whispered, and shook his head. Though, he was glad that was the case, because if Saylen was ever mean to Ellie, well, then, Mr. Stryker will be the next CoMC Professor, for real.
And, well, Arya falls into that same category too. "None of this is real...," he said, uncertain to whom was Ellie asking the question. "...yet. For all I know, I mean." Well, it was perfectly clear that he had no idea where Saylen was leading them to, so, maybe she could lead them to a place that had some live creatures or something. It was unlikely, but he didn't know.
But...er, Ellie couldn't possibly be scared of this creatures now, could she? "Oh." Ellie didn't know Masterson, so she couldn't compare, really. "He seems so." Awesome, that is.
Meh. More contemplating. She supposed that if Saylen really was only mean to Treyen...then that really was less nice than if she was mean to everyone. Right?
So Saylen's still bad.
Her eyes studied all the animals. "No, I mean, like, they're not dead? They're fake, right?" Cuz if they had been alive, at any time, it would be very sad. She wouldn't like that at all. And she certainly wouldn't take any pictures.

Time for more chocolate-coffee. Yum. Charley followed after her friends and Mr. Stryker, walking next to Belle and a couple paces behind Jaina and Benjamin, and dividing her attention between the Groundskeeper and Professor Saylen.
"The Arctic, ma'am," she said assuredly after raising her hand.

She looked up pretty quickly, if it was some younger pupil asking her to comfort her then she'd be in trouble. Because quite frankly she needed comforting herself. She was however incredibly thankful when she saw it was Vashti. "No" she whispered back wide eyed and going green. "I've been a Vegan practically my whole life and suddenly we're being shoved in front of a load of stuffed animals" she gulped. "I feel sick" the seventeen whimpered. Yeah you could tell why she was a Slytherin and not a Gryffindor now couldn't you?
And then she caught a glance of the Polar Bear looking at her. THE EYES! Someone please tell her that these weren't real...

A small frown crossed her face at the next question, her eyes still on the polar bear as she was slowly beginning to realize why they had been brought to the museum. She'd also wait til they got back to the school and snuggle her kneazle. source: I'm too lazy to get a real source, this is from my head again. XD

But, this question saddened her a tad. So time for more chocolate-coffee. Selina looked at her teacher when she responded, "Well ma'am, not to get in an ethics argument, but isn't life- no matter what the quality- still better than death? I would rather study an animal than slaughter it. You cannot say that some of these animals were hunted because their look would be preferable in a museum. I don't know, that is just my personal opinion."
When the next question was posed Selina was at a loss. Until a few moments ago the only Muggle creatures she knew about were the domestic kind. But if the teacher was asking their was obviously a surplus or very little. She went with the latter, "My guess is not that many?"

Jacob stared back into the bears eyes. "including this one?" Jacob thought, he liked the white bears they seemed large and dangerous. "Uhm.... 3. cause you know, not many beings are able to survive on the sun. They'd be cooked. And its probably not the top animal on the sun's food chain, so it would be eaten."
Wait so how were muggles able to get solar bears off the sun anyways?

But, this question saddened her a tad. So time for more chocolate-coffee. Christopher smiled, not hesitating to answer the next question. "Scientists can't be sure of exactly how many there are left in the world, but in 2008, about fifty years ago, 20,000 to 25,000 were still living. Do to poor choices that effect our planet, I would estimate more than half of that population has gone down." He shook his head. He was a big animal lover and he hoped he was wrong about that. He really loved animals and it just killed him inside when populations went extinct.

<snip> "How many of these Polar Bears do you think there are in the world?" Her eyes flitted over all their ickle little faces. Were some of them weren't that ickle. Or little. Hehehe.
But, this question saddened her a tad. So time for more chocolate-coffee. Oh yeah! He got another one two right. See there was good that came out from the South Pole trip after all. He'd fist pump if only he didnt have his arms around Lexi and was pretty content keeping them there, instead gave her a quick peck on the cheek "Yes very good Ms Denver" he whispered, echoing the Professor's praise. "So I guess thats why the California bears are nice and tanned." he snickered.
Hmm, how many polar bears are there? "Uhm.... they're on the endangered species list Professor. So I guess...... not a whole lot." Maybe thats the reason why he didnt see any of them at the South Pole?

Professor I'm not entirely sure how many there are, perhaps between 5-7 thousand? But I know there aren't very many because they're an endangered species."
This was sad, Emily didn't like to know that animals were in danger of becoming extinct.

Well...Some of the answers were not what Maya was expecting. Apparently the kids misunderstood her question. A few of them sounded like encyclopedias. Quote:

"I am not sure that scientists have been able to find a concrete number, but I have heard estimates in the 20,000 to 25,000 range...which seems like a lot until you compare it to the number of people which is somewhere around 6,900,000,000..." "Miss Kurumi...do you think there are twenty to twentyfive thousand Polar Bears in the world? Or is that something you read?" Quote:

She finished sadly.
She gazed up at the magnificent stuffed bear before her. Why did humans have to kill such beautiful creatures? And then preserve them and put them on show? They seemed to have no respect for mother nature...
Yes, she loved museums -she just despaired of her species' ability to understand their surroundings.
Source: My brain - probably not the best place... "That is quite a low number. Hopefully it wont drop to that." So sad. Quote:

Did she want Arya to tell her those reasons? Hm. She'd wait til the professor asked for them.
She'd also wait til they got back to the school and snuggle her kneazle. source: I'm too lazy to get a real source, this is from my head again. XD Maya nodded sadly. "Indeed. Makes you a little anxious to really find out how many." Quote:

I don't know, that is just my personal opinion."
When the next question was posed Selina was at a loss. Until a few moments ago the only Muggle creatures she knew about were the domestic kind. But if the teacher was asking their was obviously a surplus or very little. She went with the latter, "My guess is not that many?" "I don't know, Miss Skylar. I wouldn't want to be in a position to choose." She left it at that. Moving on, "Not that many, no." Quote:

Wait so how were muggles able to get solar bears off the sun anyways? Wait.
What? "I think there are more than three, Mister Blunt." She...wasn't sure what the boy was talking about next. Uhm. "No, Mister Blunt, these animals don't live on the sun." Squint. "They live in the Arctic Circle. North Pole. Cold places." Heh. Quote:

Do to poor choices that effect our planet, I would estimate more than half of that population has gone down." He shook his head. He was a big animal lover and he hoped he was wrong about that. He really loved animals and it just killed him inside when populations went extinct.
OOC: Oh, hehe! Sorry! This one and the last one where both here: FAQs about Polar Bears - Polar Bears International And again. "Is this what you think? Disregarding what you read in a book - do you believe there are as many as that?" Quote:

Maya swallowed as she walked over to stand besides another skeleton. This time, of the Saber-toothed cat. "Pick a number between one to five thousand. How many do you think still run around the world?" Were they talking about polar bears or the saber-toothed tiger she was now standing in front of? If they were talking about the tiger, was Professor Saylen wanting to know the number of animals exactly like that living now, or also include their ancestors...which would make for a rather large number.
" If we are still talking about polar bears," Kurumi said to clarify her response. "I think around one thousand...or less..." she then looked at the kitty skeleton. " If we are talking about saber-toothed tigers...I'm going to say zero."

"Excuse me, Professor, I thought sabre-toothed cats had gone extinct," she said.

See ya when I log back on. Emily flipped the page of her note book and jotted down more notes. Now they were moving onto the next creature in the section. Between one to five thoughsand???... a sabre toothed cat??? how was that possible? hadn't they all died?.... "Um... Professor aren't they extinct?" she asked uncertainly....
Emily wracked her brain, trying to think. Was it possible they weren't extinct and that they were actually magical- but the muggle world thought they were extinct due to concealing charms and the Statute of Secrecy?.... "They don't belong in our world do they?" she asked in a low voice so that the muggles couldn't hear.
No doubt she was making an idiot of herself, but even she didn't know every single magical beast in their world... it was possible.

See ya when I log back on. Selina was silently grateful the Professor had left their conversation at that. Anything dealing with ethics and morals was not a very good topic of conversation for anyone. And to discuss it with a Professor was not a good combination.
When she listened to the other answers Selina found herself growing really upset. But she tried her best to control it. After her exploding incident she did not need to draw anymore attention to herself.
"Ma'am? My guess is they are extinct. I mean the die-no-sores in the other room were all extinct. All of the... living animals are stuffed. There is no stuffed saber tooth which-a-mi-call-its. So I'm going to go with none."
