Default Charms Final

The Charms Practice Hall has been sectioned into two for the Charms Final, divided by a wall that contains a cut-out door. You enter, and see that the side you can see has been set up like a regular classroom. Desks and chairs are arranged in neat rows. On each desk, there is a copy of the theoretical portion of the exam.

Text Cut: Theoretical exam
  • Define a charm for three marks.
  • Discuss the differences between the Disillusionment Charm and the Bedazzling Hex for four marks.
  • The incantation Luxra magnifica is derived from two languages. Discuss your thoughts on the roots of the incantation [the languages you think it might have been derived from, and the reason you think so] for five marks.
  • In the last Charms lesson of the term, it was discussed that the things muggles label the 'paranormal' or 'supernatural,' can sometimes be witches and wizards utilizing Disillusionment Charms, Invisibility Cloaks, Bedazzling Hexes and the like. Make up a story that illustrates this point for sevenmarks.

Extra credit:
  • Suggest some charms you'd like to learn next term, or would have liked to learn this term for three marks.

Once you've finished the theoretical bit, the instructions on the board direct you to turn over your parchment, and pass through the door, into the other portion of the Hall. Professor Descoteaux is seated here, looking a tad lazy as he reads a book. There are three stations set up at the front of the place. On each station, there is an object and a sheet of instructions.

The first station bears a plastic teacup. Three feet above this station, there is a small bucket, suspended in midair. The instructions given are: Change the teacup into a ball. Then levitate it and drop it into the bucket.

Two small balls are jumping up and down on the second station. There is a new-ish looking cardboard box, open, at the foot of this station. The instructions read: Freeze one of the balls, and banish the second into the box.

The last station houses a fair-sized, charmed lantern that is glowing visibly, despite the fact that the room is well-lit. The instructions read: Expand and reduce the range of the light of the lantern. Then make it appear 'invisible.'

Remember to use only charms that you have been taught this term, at all of the stations.

OOC:

This exam is worth fifty individual house points [extra credit included].

[] You do not have to RP for the theoretical bit. Do not post any of the answers here. Just PM me your responses. Remember to include your house and member ID. ^.^

[] You must RP your character doing the practical portion of the exam, in this thread. Complete the practical in just one post. Your posts will be marked for accuracy and RP content. Grammar and punctuation is important.

[] You have exactly one week to do this final. PMs and posts should be in by Apr 2, 3: 30 PM GMT at the latest. You may do just the theoretical bit, or just the practical bit. Doing both is not mandatory. Still have questions? PM me.

I'm just one of those pretty little liars... | | I'm held down in this starless city...

After finishing the theoretical part of the exam, Helena walked to the second part of the hall, ready for the practical part. She'll do good, right? Because Charms was her favourite subject. She had to do great.

The girl smiled at professor Descoteaux as she saw him. "Hello, professor," she said cheerfully. Because she felt cheerful. Yes, at an exam.

She read the first instructions, while a grin was spreading across her face. It was simple. She pointed her wand at the plastic teacup, then made a clockwise circle, a counter clockwise one and said "Mizurus boru." When the teacup turned into a ball, she made the swish-and-flick movement and said "Globo leviosa." The ball levitated and she dropped it gently into the bucket. Step one finished!

Moving to the second part, Helena noticed two small balls, jumping around. Reading these instructions, she started feeling a bit nervous, because she had to banish one of them. She practiced a lot that charm, but what if... No, no, no. She'll do great.

Trying to concentrate, the girl pointed her wand at the first ball, made two short flicks and said "Immobulus." She watched the ball fall on the floor, frozen, then pointed her wand at the second one. Breathe, you'll need that. "Depulso," she said, then watched the second ball fly away... straight into the box! Yay!

Last part of the exam.

Helena walked over to the slightly glowing lantern and pointed her wand at it. She made a circle and a X, then said "Luxra magnifica," and watched as the light expanded slowly. She wasn't sure how to reduce the light, so she simply casted a "Finite incantatem" on it. Now, she had to make it invisible. She tapped the top of the lantern twice, then said "Disillusiona." The lantern turned invisible!

Aaaaand she was done!

The girl looked around at professor Descoteaux. "Was that... okay?" As in, could she leave?

Kurumi entered the Charms classroom trembling a little. Final exams always brought out the panic side of her. She had stayed up nearly all night studying and reviewing her notes from this term and the term before. There was just no knowing what Professor Descoteaux was going to ask them to do. What if he asked them to charm a pocket watch to sing the time…or use a Disillusionment Charm on a live animal?! Kurumi was pretty sure she was not ready for such high levels of magic.

Taking a deep breath, Kurumi approached Professo Descoteaux, who seemed more concerned about reading his book than observing his students, and bowed slightly. “G-Good day Professor Descoteaux,” she chirped nervously glancing at the stations laid out before her. She supposed it was time for her to get down to work.

Kurumi approached the first station and took out her wand. “Change the teacup into a ball. Then levitate it and drop it into the bucket,” she read from the instructions. Oh, she remembered this. She had melted more than a few rubber ducks and other items in attempt for making a proper ball filled with water. The wand movement had been the trickiest bit for her to handle. Taking a deep breath, Kurumi pointed her wand at the plastic tea cup. “Please don’t melt…or explode,” she pleaded closing her eyes to try and focus her energy on the tea cup and turning it into a ball. Now, mustering all the confidence that she could, she pointed her wand at the cup, traced one clockwise and one anti-clockwise circle in the air with her wand, and then spoke. “Mizurus boru!

The tea cup began to glow and…melted. Kurumi’s eyes widened in shock, but she did not allow her mind to wander and remained steady in her thoughts about turning the bloody tea cup into a ball. Come on…come on! She repeated over and over again in her head. Suddenly, the melted ball of white goo began to shift and the edges of it reached towards the ceiling. After a few more moments, there was a perfectly round ball.

Kurumi gave herself a mental pat on the back before checking the instructions again. The next charm was simple enough. With a quick swish and flick, Kurumi said “Globo leviosa!” and the ball floated gracefully up in the air and landed softly in the bucket.

Kurumi took a step back and took a deep breath. Nothing had exploded and there was no half melted tea cup on the table. That alone was enough for her to earn 20 points for Gryffindor- in her opinion at least.

Kurumi then moved onto the next station where she instantly felt ill. Well, at least there were no chocolate frogs present. Or were there?! Kurumi’s eyes darting around the room half expecting a flock of them to come jumping out of walls, pounce on her, and cover her in melted chocolate. After a few moments, Kurumi realized that there were no chocolate frogs waiting to attack, Kurumi read the instructions. Freeze the ball and banish it into the box. She could handle that…just as long as her aim was right. The only chance she had of freezing something other than the ball was perhaps a stray spider crawling up the wall behind it. Better than another student any day.

Taking her wand out again, Kurumi flicked her wand twice towards the ball. “Immobulus!” The ball stopped a foot or two above the table. While she had not exactly enjoyed it at the time, she owed it to all those chocolate frogs for helping her aim improve tremendously. “Depulso,” she commanded pointing her wand at the other box. The ball shot, a little too, quickly across the room and made a rather large dent in the bottom of the box. Well, at least she was showing enthusiasm?

Taking another deep breath, Kurumi made her way to the third station and read the instructions. Given the nature of the first two, she had been expecting this task. The expanding of the light wasn’t so much of a challenge seeing as she had performed the charm with relative ease during class. It was the whole making it look invisible that was going to cause the trouble. Just as long as it didn’t explode…

Kurumi trace a circle in the air and then brought her wand down twice to make an X. “Luxra magnifica,” she said with a smile. This charm seemed to work best when she had positive thoughts and a smile on her face. Made sense considering the spell was all about making things brighter in this case. Maybe she had to think negative thoughts and frown when performing it on shadows? She would have to try that sometime.

Now that her lamp was glowing enough to make half of the room appear white in its glow, Kurumi breathed deeply and tried to focus on the task at hand. With her wand, Kurumi tapped on the lamp twice. “Disillusiona,” she said with the confidence of a mouse.

The lamp began to ripple like it had done during class and a smile tickled the edges of her lips. She had done it! Blinking twice, Kurumi looked at the lamp and realized that she had celebrating a little too early. The right half of the lamp was missing, but the other half remained clear as a Hippogriff in an empty broom cupboard.

Frowning slightly, Kurumi tapped the remaining half of the lamp and repeated the incantation. This time, she did not blink until it too had vanished.

Kurumi melted to the floor onto her knees feeling a bit exhausted from all the concentration it had taken from this final exam – particularly the Disillusionment Charm. Maybe now those chocolate frogs could come hopping out of the walls? Chocolate did have some restorative powers after all even if they were not dealing with dementors at the moment

Emily hadn't slept. She stayed up all night, reading and practicing. She could practically say her charms book word for word.
Good job she was actually talented at charms. Must be a gene that runs in her family, as her mum and sister both got O's for there exams. She shook her head and went into the second room. Who knows what she'd have to do?!

Spotting the teacher in the room she flashed a quick smile to him, but he seemed to be concentrating on his book. "Hello Professor..." She wanted to say 'This is my first exam.' But why would he care? She was nervous already. Where was Nika when you needed her?

Taking out her wand she went to the first station and read the instructions.
Looking from the cup to the bucket above her she bit her lip. She could do this; she'd used this spell when she and Nika had had that water fight! She smiled. 'No! Concentrate on what you're doing!' she told herself.
Her smile faded and then she coughed. She could do this.

One clockwise circle, one anti-clockwise circle and "Mizurus Boru!"
Her teacup turned slightly, like it was doing a cartwheel, and then became a round ball.
Her confidence wavered slightly. Was it supposed to have moved like that? Quickly coming back to earth she made her swish and flick movement "Globo Leviosa" and the ball levitated up to the bucket and gently plopped in.
One down, two more to go!

Going to the next station she couldn't help smile. She was quite good at these two charms, if she did say so herself.
Clearing her throat again she pointed her wand at the first ball and made two gentle flicks. "Immobulus!" and the ball stopped mid bounce and hovered above the table.
Emily admired her work before turning to the other ball. "Depulso!" she cried and to her pleasure, the ball went flying into the box, landing with a little THUMP.
Well she was trying!

Now for the final station. She'd been practicing these spells the most.
She realised her palms were sweating. And her throat was dry. Merlin she needed a drink. Why did this have to happen now?!

Clearing her throat for the third time she began to trace a circle, then made a quick X after she'd brought her wand down twice. "Luxra magnifica!" and slowly, the lanterns light crept through the room. Mabye it was a bit too bright as she had to shield her eyes. "Finite!" and the light slowly came back to the lantern. Well, again she was trying!

She re-read the instructions again. Where they supposed to make the shadow expand? It did say to reduce the light of the lantern. But hadn't she done that with 'Finite'?
Deciding it was better to be safe than sorry, Emily did the same movement and repeated "Luxra magnifica!" only this time at the shadow she was casting.
It started to eat the lanterns bright glow, until the lantern didn't even look like it was lit.
Casting 'Finite' again and restoring the normal light she moved on to the final charm.

'Focus, focus. You did this first time in lesson and your only a first year! Just focus.' she told herself. Taking a deep breath she tapped the lantern twice. "Disillusiona"
The lamp started to vanish, but slowly. It took a few minutes but eventually the lamp looked gone. She sighed. She knew she'd do worse in the exam!

Finally able to relax, Emily put her wand away and wiped her hands on her top. She'd make her sister proud she thought and smiled. She was good at charms, in a few years she'd be an expert! Well, hopefully.
Now she really needed a drink. And something covered in chocolate...

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

The moment Hyun stood in front of the Charms Final class his heart had started racing. He was nervous and he hated the feeling. Taking deep breaths to calm himself, he pushed the door open and entered. He scanned the room for a second before his eyes landed on the professor. Walking towards him he said a "Hello, Professor" with an almost raised eyebrow when he saw the professor was reading a book and he had a major *gah* moment in his mind.

Turning to walk towards the first station, Hyun bend a little forward to grab and read the paper. Change teacup in to ball and drop it in to the bucket? Ah that was simple! ..he hoped, he knew how he was when he was nervous... Hyun placed the paper back on the station at the exact same place and moved his wrist. With a swift movement his wand shot out from the holster and he held it in his hand.

He coughed to clear his throat and raised his shivering wand arm to the teacup. He saw his arm shivering and he lowered it. He did not want to make a mistake, not now. Taking a few more breaths, Hyun repointed his wand at the plastic teacup and made a clockwise circle and then a counter clockwise circle while saying "Mizurus boru!" while focusing with all his might.

To his delight, the teacup turned in to a ball without hesitation. Hyun smiled nervously at his first win but knew it wasn't the end of the test. His dark brown eyes looked at the paper on the table to reread the next step. Right, levitating the ball in to the bucket. Hyun pointed his wand at the ball and made a swish and flick movement. "Globo leviosa!" he said and watched how the ball raised up in to the air and.....fell on the ground.

Hyun's eyes widened when he saw the ball fell to the ground and bounced up and down. The movement was like a slowmotion in his mind and everytime the ball came to contact with the ground it felt like his ears were going to explode. This was not good. He glanced towards the professor who was still reading his book but Hyun KNEW that he had seen it. Or atleast heard it. Eitherway , this was bad!

He wanted to pick up the ball from the ground with his hands but stopped his movements quickly before even lying a finger on the ball. The note never said to touch the ball with his hands. So, Hyun left the ball on the ground and pointed his wand at it again. He concentrated with all his might , he was concentrating so hard that he felt a drop of sweat run down the side of his face. He gulped once before making a swish and flick momevent and saying "Globo Leviosa!" He watched as the ball raised in the air, this time it stayed there. Hyun aimed his wand to the bucket and the ball levitated towards it and fell , not so softly because he lost control again, in to it. But who cared, the ball was in the bucket! Mission accomplished!

Grinning , Hyun walked over to the next station , never holstering his wand. Two balls were jumping up and down in front of him and he had the feeling they were mocking him because of his first fail. He read what he has to do on the paper and nodded. He aimed his wand at the right ball that happend to jump up again, then flicked his wand twice and said "“Immobulus!” the ball halted in mid-air before landing on the station. He looked at the left ball which was still jumping and pointed his wand at the ball. "Depulso!" the left ball shot towards the box and ding ding ding~! goaaaaaaal!

Final station , and probably the most difficult one.
Hyun moved with a bit more confident to the station and read the paper. And like he predicted, the most difficult test. He looked at the lantern while holding up his wand and traced a circle, he made an X swiftly and when he was at the bottom of the X he said "Luxra magnifica!" He watched how the latern glowed brighter , not much but it DID glow brighter! the room was in bright white light even if it was just for a second! hmpf...

He pointed his wand to the latern again, he tapped on the lantern twice and said "Disillusional" Slowly, the lantern began to *fade away* He'd done it! Yes!

Grinning his famous grin that his friends love to smack off he holstered his wand back in his wrist holster and walked up to the professor. "Done, sir" he said with a bow of his head...wait..could he leave now?

Hogwarts RPG Name:
Christopher James
Sixth Year

Flynnigan O'Hare

Christopher stepped timidly into the Charms classroom, clutching his bag tightly, quite nervous for the exam. VERY nervous, at that. He wasn't very good at keeping his composure when he was under pressure, especially not during exams. But this was fifty points for Gryffindor, and he knew that if he didn't do well, there would be a bit of trouble.

He saw their professor sitting in the room, looking rather bored, as he read a book. He must've thought this exam wasn't too hard, as he wasn't even giving the students so much as a second glance. This made Christopher feel slightly better, if anything. "Erm, hello Professor Descoteaux...." He said with a weak smile, waving slightly. He doubted the professor would even acknowledge him. Feeling slightly discouraged, looked around the room at all of the workstations up front.

He took a deep breath and walked shyly over to the workstations set up in the front of the room. He headed over to the first one, feeling a little light headed. He pulled out his wand and read the instructions for the first test. "Change the teacup into a ball. Then levitate it and drop it into the bucket." Easy enough. He glanced up at the bucket floating about three feet above the teacup. The wand movement had for this charm had always been the trickiest part for him. He traced his wand in a circle first clockwise, then one anti-clockwise, before saying with all of the confidence he could muster, "Mizrus buru!"

Christopher winced, expecting an explosion, or the teacup to have turned into some dangerous object. He opened one eye, and stared back at a perfectly round ball. He sighed and relief and muttered a quick, "Thank goodness," before moving on to the next step, with a bit more confidence this time.

The next charm was simple enough, not all that more difficult than the first. With a quick swish and flick, Christopher said strongly, "Globo leviosa!" To his great pleasure (and a little surprise), the ball soared into the air, landing perfectly in place into the box. His confidence rose a little more and he was ready to move on to the next step. He'd already finished one-thirds of the exam!

When he'd gotten to the second station, a grin on his face, he saw two balls jumping up and down, as if making some sort of catchy tune. At the foot of the station, there was a cardboard box. He supposed they were supposed to make these balls go into that box to? It couldn't have been too difficult, as they'd just done a similar task at the previous station. "Freeze one of the balls, and banish the second into the box," he muttered, reading the instructions provided. Okay, he could do that, no problem, right?

Christopher cleared is throat a little, trying to make his voice as clear as possible, as to not accidently sound like he was saying a different spell, causing him to fail. That would be just awful. He pulled his wand back out of his back pocket, and pointed it at the first ball. "Immobulus!" It flickered a tiny bit before freezing in midair, causing Christopher to panic. Had that really just happened?! Would he get marked down for that!? His heart sunk into his stomach, and he wasn't feeling as confident anymore. He hesitated before turning to the next ball, which was jumping by itself now. He pointed to the lonesome thing, and cried, "Depulso!" It shot into the box (a little too quickly), and Christopher felt a bit better, as that station hadn't been a complete failure.

Trying not to have a panic attack or begin to hyperventilate, Christopher moved on to the next, and final station. He read the instructions aloud, "Expand and reduce the range of the light of the lantern. Then make it appear 'invisible.'" His heart lifted, and his bruised confidence suddenly rose higher than it had yet. He'd always excelled when it came to expanding light, he just found it easy to preform! There was a lantern glowing brightly, causing the room to glow even more than it already did. He gripped his wand tightly and prepared for the final step in this exam.

Christopher moved his wand in a circle, before bringing his wand down in two sudden movements, creating an 'X' shape. "Luxra magnifica!" He said cheerfully, as he'd felt better the moment he stepped into the third station. The room was now glowing brighter than ever, causing the second year to shield his eyes from the intense light before continuing. Eyes squinted so he could attempt to see what he was doing; Christopher chirped a clear, "Finite!" The light flew back into the lantern, causing the room to return to its normal lighting.

He rubbed his eyes, before turning back to the station. Only one thing left! This exam was flying by, it was much quicker than he'd imagined it to be. He'd studied very hard, and was up all night the previous night practicing spells and charms on objects in his dorm. It was time to put his skills to the test. Taking a deep breath, the Gryffindor tapped his wand twice on the lantern and said sounding almost relieved, "Disillusiona!" The lamp vanished, and Christopher grinned. He had done it! One exam done, way too many others to complete.

He dropped onto a chair and began to relax. He was exhausted as he hadn't gotten much sleep the previous night, and he definitely hadn't had anything to eat or drink. He was dying for a glass of water..... or something chocolate. He could not deny, he was all for having something chocolate to eat at the moment!

Quickly remembering that he was still in class, Christopher lept up off of the seat in which he had been occupying and hurried over to the professor. "Er, finished..." He wasn't sure whether or not he had permission to go. He wait for a response, standing near the table where Professor Descoteaux sat, quite awkwardly. Just as he usually was.

✪ Whovian ✪ Luke's friend ✪ Charliebot ✪

Hugo hopped into the hall. Even though he had studied hard, he was still a bit nervous. Taking a seat, he filled in the theoretical bit. Easy beans. Then a story... Sigh. Knowing himself, he was going to take long to take this story to perfection. He scribbled it down. Then what charms would he like to learn? That was easy! He had so much in mind.

Finished. Easy. Done. He turned the parchment over and went through the door. Now came the hard part... Three stations? He looked at the first teacup. Right. This should go well. It went well during the lessons, why wouldn't it now? His hands started sweating though, and he couldn't grip his wand that well. Whatever. He studied the tea cup and the bucket, looking closely at them, measuring the movements he had to make. He started breathing heaver and pointed his wand at the cup. Okay, now. First clockwise... Hugo turned his wand in a circle. Then counter-clockwise... "Mizurus Boru!" he said and the teacup formed a ball. Hugo sighed of relieve. Good. Now don't screw up. The screwing up part is at Arithmancy and Divination.

Hugo wiped some sweat of his forehead. Now to drop the ball in the bucket. Swish... Flick... "Globo Leviosa!" he said and the ball hovered in the air, and Hugo carefully let it drop in the bucket. YESS!!! IT WORKED!! The mental audience in his head was cheering. There was a party going on. Then he silenced his head as he moved on to the next station.

Looking down on the next station he instantly remembered his chocolate frog fight with Kurumi. With such a strong, funny memory this ought to be alright? But these were balls... Boring. This one was going to be easier. His hands sweated less. He had better grip of his wand. He flicked his wand two times and said "Immobulus!" The ball didn't move anymore. Awesome.

The second ball... Should not be too hard. Hugo pointed his wand at the ball and said "Depulso!" The ball flew back to its cardboard box. This was going good. Suspiciously good, because there was always one factor in which Hugo screwed up really bad. Hugo moved on to the third station.

DAWW. Hugo hadn't exactly been paying attention well at this lesson. But he had studied and practiced. So it should go well. Hugo sighed. Let's do it. He made a little "X" with his wand and said "Luxra Magnifica!" The light spreaded and the room was lit very strongly now. "Finite!" he said firmly and the light reduced again. Then, he tapped the lamp twice. "Disillusiona!" Hmm, this went as well as when he practised. The lamp seemed invisible. Now the crowd in his head was going wild. HE DID IT! YES!!

DONE. Hugo wanted to go AGAIN!! This was like a rollercoaster. His heart was pumping, he was sure to get a good grade. He turned is papers in and said "I'm done, professor." He looked quite proud.

Luin walked into the Charms classroom. She was ready, at least she felt she was. She had been preparing for this final. She just hope she remembered everything as much as she though she did at the moment. She gave a weak smile to the professor on the way in, "Hello Professor." then went to the first station and took out her wand.

Quote:
Change the teacup into a ball. Then levitate it and drop it into the bucket
Ah, ok this was from that first lesson, the one with the water balloons. She could do this, had definitely practiced this wand although the practicing was the tricky part. She took a deep breath and pointed her wand at the cup. She cleared her mind and focused, pointed her wand at the cup, traced a circle clockwise and then counter clockwise then said, "Mizurus boru!" The teacup formed into a perfectly round ball before her eyes. She smiled, happy that she had managed that one easily. She then glanced down at the paper again. Ok, now to get it in the bucket. She said, “Globo leviosa!” and directed the ball. It floated up in the air and landed in the bucket with a little plop.

Luin then moved onto the next station then read the instructions.
Quote:
Freeze the ball and banish it into the box.
Luin nodded to herself, she could do this one, these were a little easier than some of the charms they had learned later on. She raised her wand and flicked it towards one of the balls, "Immobulus!" the ball froze in place, just about to come down from the peak of it's jump. She smiled, she was ready for the next one, this was already going so well. She prepared herself, clearing her mind again, ready for the other charm here. She pointed at the ball, "Depulso!" and pointed towards the box. The ball went into the box. It bounced when it got in there and almost got out but thankfully it went back in.

Luin sighed in relief that the first two stations had gone by without incident so far. She went on her way to the third station, reading the instructions as she got there.
Quote:
Expand and reduce the range of the light of the lantern. Then make it appear 'invisible.'
Luin stepped back for a second and cleared her mind. She then traced a circle in the air with her wand and then brought it down twice in an X. “Luxra magnifica!” she said, and the light spread throughout the room, becoming very bright. She then quickly went on from that one to make it not too bright any more, it was kinda hurting her eyes, "Finite..." she didn't say it so confidently though. She frowned, the light dimmed a little but not that much. She tried again, "Finite!" the light went back to normal. She let out a huge breath and glanced at the directions again. Right, now for the disillusionment spell.

Luin stopped for a second, almost forgetting the right incantation. Thankfully, she remembered after thinking on it for a few seconds. She then stepped back and tapped on the lamp twice with her wand. “Disillusiona!” She lamp rippled, then 'disappeared'. She smiled, yay! She finished it! WOOT!

Luin almost cheered out loud she was so happy. Instead, she brought her papers to the teacher's desk and said, "I'm finished Professor." and then went back towards where some other students were done, but not leaving. She wasn't sure if they could leave yet and didn't want to start going all on her own with the possibility of getting in trouble.

Default Emily Browne's practical. 7th Year Ravenclaw
½ EagleBrain ♥ Creeperdoodle ♥ Raven Dor ♥ Berry ♥ ½ Team House Elf

Emily entered the Charms classroom. It was seperated into two sections by the looks of it. The first side was set up like a normal classroom, examination papers on each desk. This settled Emily's stomach, she rather enjoyed theoretical exams. No doubt there would be a practical as well... she looked at the door that led to the next partitioned section of the room. Perhaps that was next?

Professor Descoteux was sitting down reading?... reading?... not paying attention to the students? was that normal Professor-Finals behaviour?
"Hi Professor", she greeted in a whisper.

Taking her seat promptly, she began work on her theoretical paper.

Once she was done, she set the quill down and turned her paper over... then taking a deep breath she got up and left the area- into the next portion of the final.

Upon entering the room Emily saw three work stations... there was a teacup?... a bucket suspended in the air?... bouncing balls?....an open box on the floor? and a lantern?.............
Taking her wand out of her pocket she approached a vacant station. There was a peice of parchment there with instructions on it. She read it thoroughly.

Step one: mould the teacup into a ball ans levitate it into the bucket...
Seemed easy enough, right?

Emily held her wand out in front of her, pointing at the teacup before her. Tracing a clockwise circle, then a counter-clockwise circle Emily pronounced the inantation.
"Mizurus Boru"......... the teacup orphed and twisted before her until it became perfectly spherical. She had succeeded... good start. Now to get it into the bucket.
After taking a deep breath she aimed her wand at the teacup ball, "Globa Leviosa!" she said... her ball began to levitate, using her wand Emily guided it steadily into the bucket suspended in the air. It landed with a small thud.

She wiped her brow- though there was no sweat, she was just grateful she had gotten through the first step.

Step two:two bouncing balls.... freeze one and banish the other.

Oh that was ok, she had been pracising those a fai bit. Smiling she held up her wand once more.
Aiming at one of the two bouncing balls, Emily gave two short flicks of her wand, "Immobulus", she said casting the freezing charm. Instantly the ball froze mid-bounce. It hung there in the air. Satisfied with how she was going Emily then turned her attention to the remaining ball.

Concentrating on the remaining ball- her eyes tracing its bouncing movement, carefully Emily aimed her wand.
"Depulso", she said casting the banishment charm on the bouncing ball. It stopped bouncing for a split second before it whizzed into the open box.

Task three: expand and reduce the light of the lantern, then make it appear invisibe.
No problem! thought Emily as she remembered the lesson they had in theForbidden Forest. It was a good lesson, one she wouldn't forget for some time.

Aiming her wand at the light of the lantern, she verbalised the incantation, "Luxra Magnifica", whilst simultaniously performing the wand movement. She drew a circle in the air with her wand tip, closely followed by two crosses. The light exploded from the lantern, stretching its rays out across the room. Sheilding her eyes from the blinding light, Emily reversed the spell by pointing at the lantern and saying, "Finite".
Instantly the light grew smaller, as if the lantern was sucking back inwards. Soon the room was back to its normal lightness.

One last little bit to go, thought Emily as she observed her lantern, focusing on its form. The disillusionment charm- to meake it blend in... like a charmeleon. Invisible to the eye, but still solid to the touch.
Tapping the latern with her wand she performed the incantation, "Disillusiona".
One second it was there... the next... it was still there she just couldn't see it. A big grin spread across her face. She had been successful. Her last time in a charms classroom and she was successful. It was always good to finish on a high note.

Placing her wand back in her pocket she gave Professor Descoteux a nod, "I'm finished Professor" she said. She was about to leave when she realised they hadn't actually been dismissed. Turning back she gave Professor Descoteux a quizical look, hopefully he understood what it meant.

Nika entered the room shaking. She was nervous, very nervous. Nika walked up to the professor and tried to smile. Her smile came out very forced so she quickly stopped.

Nika walked over to the first station and took out her wand. She noticed that her palms were getting sweaty. Quickly rubbing her hands on her robes, she read the instructions. It's a good thing that she went out and practiced with Emily.

Nika thought back to the work that she did with Emily in the charms practice room. "Right Nika, clockwise then counterclockwise." Nika's legs were shaking and her hands were trembling. First final is not going so well. She took a few deep breaths and continued.

She did one clockwise motion and then one counterclockwise motion. "Mizurus Boru." Nika closed her eyes waiting for something bad. Charms is not exactly her best subject. She opened her eyes when she didn't hear anything and she let out a loud sigh of relief. "Thank goodness" The ball had turned into a round ball.

Nika was frozen in a state of shock, but then she realized that she had an exam to finish. Nika quickly set her thoughts to the back of her mind. She loosened her grip on her wand and read the instructions over one more time just to be safe.

She swished and flicked her wand while saying "Globo Leviosa" . Nika watched as her ball levitated in the air. It hovered over the bucked and dropped into it with a small thud. She closed her eyes and took another deep breath. So far, so good.

Nika walked over to the second station and felt as though her legs were going to give out any at minute. She did her best to stay strong and continued. She smiled faintly as she read the instructions. She had worked on these charms with Emily using the spinning tops.

Focus Nika. That's all it takes, focus. Nika took a deep breath as her eyes followed the bouncing balls. She found one and claimed it as her target. Taking her wand, she pointed at it and made to flicks, "Immobulus. Just like the top she had practiced with, the ball stopped in midair and froze. Okay, almost done.

Nika felt sick. Charms was not her best subject and Nika just wanted to leave. For the first time she was getting all of the charms correct on the first try, but it was nerve racking. She looked at the ball and almost shouted "Depulso!!! The ball made it's way over to the box and landed safely inside. Nika was just happy that she didn't hit anyone.

Nika walked over to the last station. This is it. If she can get these ones right she is free to leave. Nika took a few deep breaths to try and settle down her stomach. "You can do this. Almost done." Nika raised her wand and traced a circle in the air. She then brought her wand down twice to make an X shape. "Luxra magnifica!" Hey, she is getting the hang of this.

Nika wished she had a pair of sunglasses because the light was almost blindingly bright. She quickly eyed the lantern and pointed straight at it saying, "Finite! And thankfully the light went dimmer and dimmer. The room was lit normally now and Nika couldn't help but smile at her work.

All of the extra practice with Emily is starting to pay off. Nika was starting to thank Emily repeatedly and under her breath. "I owe her one." Nika then read the next little snippet of instructions. Now to make it invisible. Nika tapped the lantern and said the incantation slowly, "Disillusiona". This time it didn't seem to work.

Nika scratched her head and her palms started sweating again. She took short and quick breaths as she tried to focus. Nika tried again doing the motion and saying the incantation once more. Thankfully this time it worked and she could not see the lantern anymore.

Nika couldn't stand for any longer. She figured that since she was done it would be okay if she sat down on the ground to catch her breath. "Professor, I'm done."

Freya walked into the Charms classroom with a shaking hands. She was really nervous. She looked around the classroom for a moment before she spotted her Charm Professor "Hello, Professor." she greeted him with a smile.

She read the instruction carefully before she began the practical portion. "Okay. Lets do this." she took a very deep breath.

She remembered how to do this. She took out her wand and pointed it to the teacup. 'Please make it work.' she prayed in her heart. Clockwise circle and then a counter clockwise circle "Mizurus boru!" and to her surprised, the tea cup changed into a ball. Move on to the next step. Levitate it and drop it into the bucket. Okay! She pointed her wand towards the ball. Swish and flick "Globo leviosa!" The blonde haired Slytherin watched when the ball started to levitate into the air and landed in the bucket. One down, two to go!

Freya slowly made her way to the second task. She was really surprised what she saw in the second stations its not what she thought it'd be like. She saw two balls are jumping up and down. She read the instruction carefully.

She took out her wand back again from it holster. She pointed her wand at one of the balls. She made twice flick movement with her wand "Immobulus!" and the ball stopped before it hit the station. She turned her gazed to the second ball which was till bouncing up and down. With her wand pointed at the second bouncing ball "Depulso!" and the ball made its way inside the box. Two down, one more to go!

After she finished in the second station, Freya move on to the third and last station. She was pretty sure that the last one would be more difficult than the last two. She read the instruction for the third task.

"Okie dokie."
she put back the instruction and moved her gaze towards the lantern. Her wand already aimed at the lantern, she traced a circle in the air and then brought her wand down twice to make an X before saying the incantation "Luxra Magnifica!" she watched how the light of the lantern grew brighter. "Finite!" the light grew smaller and the room returned to its normal lightning.

She just needed to do the last step and then she was done. "Here we go!" The second year Slytherin girl tapped her wand twice on the lantern "Disillusiona!" now the lantern was invisible and that mean she was officially done with the finals.

Freya put back her wand to it holster. "I'm finished, Professor." she said to Professor Descoteaux. Was it mean she could leave now?

HOLISTIC ACTRESS {X O} EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED

Kyle looked up at the board and copied the instructions down. This would be easy right?

Quote:
Change the teacup into a ball. Then levitate it and drop it into the bucket
She took out her wand pointing it at the tea cup she did a quick clockwise circle followed by another counterclockwise circle. "Mizurus boru" she firmly spoke the spell and watched as the tea cups handle pulled unto the cup, then the cup itself began to twist and turn until in front of her there was no longer a teacup but merely a lovely little ball.

With a swish and flick of her wand she said the second part of the two part first step "Globo leviosa" the ball lifted up holding her wand on it she moved her wand until the ball was directly above the box. Moving her wand now it fell straight into the box. Good job Kyle, she wanted to pat herself on the back.

Quote:
Freeze one of the balls, and banish the second into the box.
Now, she turned her attention to the two bouncing balls. "Immobulus" she spoke only after flicking her wand twice the ball freezing in mid air. Now to the other ball, she smirked at it, yes she smirked at a ball. "Depulso" she spoke firmly with her wand pointed firmly at the ball. It zipped across the room falling into the box with a light plop sound.

Now the final step she thought smiling.

Quote:
Expand and reduce the range of the light of the lantern. Then make it appear 'invisible.'
She traced a circle with her wand and then the cross mark "Luxra Magnifica" she spoke - the light from the lantern infront of her arched around brightly. It had grown and expanded perfectly - just like her second time in class. "Finite" she called out the lamp stayed by the size returned to normal.

Tapping the lantern twice with her wand she said the final spell "Disillusiona" she called out the lantern disappearing from its previous spot of right infront of her.

"Thanks for a wonderful year Professor!" Kyle smiled, she was ecstatic that she'd finished a final already but waited to leave until she was told she could.

Hogwarts RPG Name:
Patroclus Hudson

Ministry RPG Name:
Prometheus Hudson
Magical Law Enforcement
Gryffindor
Professional Twirler Mourned and Missed

The Big day was here; the first day of Finals!

It always seemed that Charms was first, and Patroclus didn’t have a problem with it! He was good at it, and he always really enjoyed so it was always good to start off with something he knew he would do well in.

After finishing up his written exam and putting his quill down; the Lion Prefect stood, and headed through the doors into the next space where the practical exam was to take place.

Spotting a rather relaxed Professor D, he grinned and asked, “Good book Sir?”

That man truly was the essence of cool.

Turning his mind the task at hand, the boy became serious and began to repeat the spells in his head, ‘Mizurus boru’, once clockwise, once anti-clockwise, ‘globo leviosa’, swish and flick, ‘Immobulus’ flick, flick, ‘Depulso’ jab then direct, ‘luxra magnifica’ circle and X, ‘Disillusiona’ tap, tap.

With the mantra repeating in his head, the Lion Prefect knew he could take on the exam, and pass with flying colours.

Taking in the rest of the room; Patroclus saw a tea cup and a bucket at station One, then two bouncing balls and a box at station Two, and finally at station Three, he saw a lantern. It was immediately obvious to the boy what he was required to do, however he was going to read and re-read every instruction, so as to ensure there were no mistakes.

So arriving at station One, he looked at the place card and read;

Change the teacup into a ball. Then levitate it and drop it into the bucket.

He read it through once, than read it again, then he un-holstered his wand and wiggled his fingers, “here we go!”
Holding his wand tightly in his hand, the boy cleared his throat, and then began to trace two circles around the tea cup. The first circle was clockwise, and once fully completed he altered his direction and retraced the circle in an anti-clockwise motion, once this second circle was complete; Patroclus announced clearly and precisely, “Mizurus Boru!” The spells effect was instantaneous; the tea cup began to warp, its sides bulged and the handle melded back into the whole. The plastic texture of the cup gave way to one of water, and then finally as the sides of the cup meant at the top, there before him was a perfect sphere of water.

He was so pleased with himself that he knew the next step would be a synch; swish went his wand and ending with a flick he said, “Globo Leviosa!” The orb rose into the air, and directed by his wand, it moved from the station top, through the air and into the bucket, where though he could not see it, Patroclus ensured it touched the bottom like the kiss from a butterfly’s wings.

Station One; Complete!

Ending his levitation charm, the LionBoy moved on to the next station, number Two and here he read;

Freeze one of the balls, and banish the second into the box.

The bouncing balls were a clear indication of what was required for this and to Patroclus it brought back fond memories of himself and Evelyn just a few days ago, strolling in the grounds.

With the trained eyes of a chaser, the Prefect watched as the balls jumped up and down, up and down, never changing speed nor rhythm; and this was information Patroclus needed to know. Moving his wand in time with the ball he waited for his moment, and then it came and he declared, “Depulso!” Jabbing his wand, he took control over the ball, its bounce began to slow, but he didn’t want to lose its momentum, so with a wind-back motion of his arm, Patroclus used his wand to take the ball from the top its bounce arch, around and banished into the box, where it sat in perfect still-ness.
Quickly darting his eyes back to the other ball, Patroclus flicked his wand twice in quick succession, and said, “Immobolus!” The ball stopped straight away, frozen in that air, like a paused moment in time.

Smiling with the rate of his success, The LionBoy moved onto the third and final station, and taking up its place card he read;

Expand and reduce the range of the light of the lantern. Then make it appear 'invisible.'

Now this lesson had been one of Patroclus’ favourite of the year, not only had they learnt away to control light sources, but they had had an escorted tour into the Forbidden Forest with none other than the Bloody Baron, and then to top it off the they had been taught how to perform the Disillusionment Charm! A charm that Patroclus had wanted to learn ever since he had first had it placed on him by his parents!

Turning his full attention to the lantern, Patroclus watched how it glowed, illuminating the station and casting shadows onto the floor behind him. He need to manipulate this, he needed to sharpen and enhance the light from the lantern, and do the opposite aswell…..

Gripping his wand, he pointed it at the lantern and completed a circle with his wand, than with two quick slashes added an X, “Luxra Magnifica” this particular incantation seemed to sit really well in Patroclus’ mouth, perhaps it was the fact that it sounded so European and he was half French or perhaps it was just because he enjoyed it so much, regardless it worked. With intention in his thoughts the light of the lantern seemed to grow, expanding till it was brighter and brighter, till it was blinding to look at, till his eyes hurt from squinting.

It was at this moment that Patroclus spun around and directed his wand at the shadow his body was casting on the floor, and again he called, “Luxra Magnifica” drawing the circle and the X, and again the spell worked, he pushed all his thoughts into the shadow, he wanted it to grow and swallow the lanterns brightness. And it did, the shadows seemed to move like an unspoken malice, a creature of darkness that devoured all light, and soon the room was pitch dark, all expect for a small light in the heart of the lantern, that was little more than a fairy light.

“Finite” he uttered, returning the rooms natural light, “Didn’t mean to interrupt your reading Sir,” he laughed smiling over at the man. Reading the last section of the card again, Patroclus grinned, he was at the last step and it was the funniest charm yet.

With two taps of his wand on the Lantern and the speaking of “Disillusiona” the charmed lantern slowly disappeared, melting away like it was nothing but a pile of sand in the breeze. Turning to the Professor he grinned once more, “Fini!”

Take a bow Patroclus!

"Hello Professor" Rex said as he came into the classroom. He was sad that this was his last year at Hogwarts, but it was time for him to move on. He would be graduating very soon.

Rex listened carefully to the instructions. His first task was to change the teacup in front of him into a ball. What was the spell for that? Rex thought to himself. And then he remembered. As he took out his wand he made a clockwise circle and then a counterclockwise circle while he said the spell he remembered,
Mizurus boru. He focused as hard as he could, and the teacup finally materialized into a ball.

Now on to the next step, to get the ball to levitate and fall into the bucket. "Globo leviosa!" Rex said firmly, doing a flick and swish motion with his wand. He smiled as the ball rose into the air and then landed in the bucket where it belonged. He was doing well so far - yay!

But there was more. There were still two more stations to go through. Rex went on to the next station and saw that he would need to expand freeze one of the two balls which were jumping so happily in front of him and then banish the second one into the box that was placed there. Okay, one thing at a time. Rex knew what the spell was for making the first ball freeze, or at least he hoped he did. ""Immobulus" he called as he pointed his wand and sure enough, the ball suddenly stopped in midair. Rex was on a roll. He might as well take care of the second ball while he was hot. "Depulso" he said, pointing his wand at the ball which was still moving and sure enough, the ball went inside the box without putting up any fight at all. Good.

Now Rex was to the last station. He was supposed to expand and then reduce the range of light on the lantern and then make the lantern appear invisible. "Luxra Magnifica" he said, waving his wand in an X motion. Instantly, the light became much stronger and spread throughout the room. It might be so bright that the other students would have a hard time seeing in here, Rex thought. Better hury and get this done. "Finite", he pointed at the lantern again and the light dimmed back to the level it had been on before.

Rex hoped he could remember the spell to make the lantern invisible. He didn't want to mess up, especially since he had done so well so far. Oh yes, he knew what it was. "Disillusiona!" he said forcefully, tapping his wand on the lantern at the same time. Rex smiled as the lantern became impossible to see, even though Rex knew it was still there.

He had finished the tasks successfully and Rex was happy. With a smile he left the classroom.

A ship in harbor is safe — but that is not what ships are built for.

"Hello professor." Savannah greeted. Great. The exam. Savannah thought sarcasticly. She read the instructions carefully. Hmm kay. That sounds easy enough. She took out her wand and walked over to the first station. Cups.

What was the spell to change the cup again? Savannah looked over and saw the other students muttering "Mizurus Boru!". Oh! So that's how you pronounce it! Savannah waved her wand gracefully and said, "Mizurus Boru!" just like the others. The cup slowly drifted up in to the air. It spun in such a great speed that it made Savannah a bit dizzy. The cup slowly took the form of a sphere. Oooh...nice.

Now what?

Oh right, levitate it.

That's easy! And Savannah smiled to herself as she cried, "Globe Leviosa!" Loud and clear. The cup, now a sphere, drifted gracefully up in the air, and let it gracefully fall in to the bucket above.

Proud and happy, she countiued to the next stage. This is actually kind of fun. Savannah found herself looking at two really crazy balls bouncing around. The instructions are quite easy. It's just really hard to aim at the mad balls. She aimed hard at one ball and cried, "Immobolus!" Shoot. She missed by an inch. She tried again. This time, the ball froze in mid-air. Great! Savannah beamed. Now the other ball.

"Depulso!" She aimed at the other ball. Perfect. She now have the control over the ball, but the ball was still bouncing, slower. "Stop." Savannah hissed under her breath. But it did not stop, it contined to bounce up and down. Savannah concentrated hard and finally, it stopped and made it's way to the box. Safe and sound. Phew.

Next task. Expande and reduce the light. Make it invisible.

"Luxra Magnifica!" Savannah pointed at the lantern in front of her. If immediately shone with bright light, hurting Savannah's eyes. "Ugh..."
THe reduce spell...the reduce spell....

Nox? No that's not it. Fi...fi...fi...finite? Finite! "Finite!" she cried desperately. And the light dimed, Savannah blinked. Finished that step.

She knows the next spell! "Disillusiona!" And the lantern blended in with its surrundings. She can do this perfectly. And the key is to practice.

The next stage...NO! She was DONE!

Savannah grinned and put her wand in her robes. DONE! DONE! COMPLETED ALL STAGES! And she skipped her way out of the classroom, yelling: "Good bye professor!" on her way."

Sierra was positively fuming by this point. Why? Well, there was really no reason. She was sick and tired of taking final exams and wanted to get them over and done with as quickly as possible. As soon as she inked in the last few answers of her theoretical exam, Sierra turned over her parchment and headed through the door and toward the practical part of the exam.

She eyed Professor What's-his-name as she noticed how laid paid he seemed to be. Right--they were stressing over finals, and he was leisurely reading a book. She inwardly rolled her eyes before heading toward the first station. Reaching it, she picked up the sheet of instructions and carefully read them over. Once she was sure of what she had to do and how to go about doing it, she withdrew her wand to begin the task.

Sierra's eyes traveled from the plastic teacup to the small bucket three feet in the air. She mentally recapped what she was meant to be doing. Change the teacup into a ball, levitate it, and then drop it into the bucket. With her wand now pointed toward the plastic teacup, Sierra traced two circles in the air--one clockwise and one anti-clockwise. "Mizurus Boru!" she called out. Her face looked hopeful as she mentally pleaded with the plastic teacup to cooperate with her. The last thing she needed at this point was to get all the way to the final exam only to have some idiotic teacup decide it wanted to have as lazy of a day as the professor seemed to be having.

The teacup made a slight noise as it rattled back and forth, torn between wanting to cooperate and wanting to stay still. Sierra narrowed her eyes in concentration as she focused solely on what she wished for the teacup to do. "Form a ball, form a ball, form a blasted ball!" she silently pleaded. Almost as if it was reacting to her thoughts, the teacup stopped rattling and began to shift its shape. The corners curled in, and before long, a round ball lie directly before Sierra.

Not wanting to wait any longer and chance the transformation reverting, Sierra made a quick swish and flick with her wand and said, "Globo Leviosa!" Her efforts didn't take as long to produce results this time. The round ball rose into the air, and she directed it to the bucket with her wand. Once it was hovering directly above the bucket, Sierra guided the ball downward until it was able to drop into the bucket.

Well, one down, two to go...

Sierra walked to the next station and picked up the second sheet of instructions. Bouncing balls--great. Again? Sierra shrugged, realizing that it may be a good thing she was now facing the same exact objects she'd used to complete her last homework assignment. She'd used bouncing balls for that, too, and Merlin were they evermore as difficult to manage as the chocolate frogs had been! At least they seemed to be...somewhat...staying in the same little area. Maybe they'd been charmed that way? Who knew.

Sierra's eyes flickered toward the cardboard box, and she sort of mapped out a plan of action in her head before attempting any actual wandwork. So all she had to do was freeze one of the bouncing balls and then banish the other into the cardboard box? That seemed easy enough--hopefully. She raised her wand and flicked twice toward the ball. "Immobulus!" she called out. Her eyebrows furrowed as she saw that the ball was still bouncing and hadn't frozen in place as it should have. She must have missed somehow. Her wand was still raised, and so she flicked twice and called out the incantation once again. "Immobulus!"

This time, the ball froze in place, and Sierra did an inward cheer before turning to the second ball. Her wand pointed outward and aimed in the right direction, she called out, "Depulso!" The ball darted across the station and into the box. Perfect! At least the second part of task two had gone smoothly.

Two down, one to go...

Sierra could have just skipped to the last station. Could have--but didn't, of course. Sierra and skipping went together about as great as ice cream and barbecued sausage did. Nevertheless, she was in a sudden good mood as she approached the last station of the exam. With the theoretical portion out of the way, Sierra was--hopefully--over and done with Charms class for the school year once task three was out of the way. Approaching the station, she picked up the sheet of instructions and carefully read them over.

...lovely. She should have been expecting this. This charm came from the class she'd paid next to no attention in, so she wasn't actually sure she could even perform the charms needed. As she laid the sheet of instructions back down on the table, she mentally reviewed what she remembered about the charms she'd need to cast. In the end, she was hesitant, but there was really only one way for this exam to come to an end--and that was to get started and complete this task.

She stared at the charmed lantern, wishing she could just expand it with her eyes. No such luck, though. She raised her wand and traced a circle in the air, ...and then brought her hand back down by her side. There was no way she could do this without confidence. She drew in a deep breath and released it slowly, and then she started the charm again. Wand raised, she traced a circle in the air, and then she brought her wand down twice to form the letter X. "Luxra Magnifica!" she exclaimed.

She stared at the lantern, waiting anxiously to see what it would do. She focused her attention on the light growing and filling the room with an even brighter display of light. She held her breath until the light began to expand, and to her surprise, she'd done it correctly! As the corners of her mouth lifted into a small smile, she returned things back to normal by pointing her wand and saying, "Finite!" The light diminished little by little, quickly reversing what she'd done before.

Reaching forward, Sierra tapped the lantern twice with her wand. "Disillusiona!" she said. Lucky for Sierra, because she was tired and restless by now, her efforts were successful. She smiled at the lamp, or the place where it had once been, and then returned her wand to its holster.

Three down, zero to go...

After Carolline finished the theoretical part of her charms final. She turned her turned her paper over and walked through the door into the other part of the room as instructed on the borad. She was ready for this charms was her subject. She had all confidence in the world but it was as if it stayed on the theoretical section of the room. She gulped, was that really that loud she thought to herself. Then noticing Professor Descoteaux who was reading a book, hadn't looked up . So obviously her gulp wasn't that loud. She smiled faintly "Hello, Professor Descoteaux."Okay now it's down to business again.

She noticed three different sections. She breathed deep at the sight of this part of the final. Many things started swimming in her head. She pushed them all out or tried to anyway. All of the studying in the world wouldn't help in less she could focus on the task at hand. Alright girl you can do this. She told herself. You can do this.

Caroline walked over to the first station. Where there was a tea cup and a bucket. The bucket was levitated a few feet above. She picked up the sheet of instructions. She read it. Change the teacup into a ball. Then levitate it and drop it into the bucket. She took a deep breath. Raising her wand up she froze. Was it counterclock wise or clockwise first? She stood there with her wand in hand pointed to the cup.You can do this. Just focus She nodded, if only to herself. which it was. Focus. She made the wand movement, Once around Clockwise and around again this time counterclock wise "Mizurus boru!"

Not taking her eyes off of the teacup. The teacup slowly but surely turned into ball. It was only there for a moment that Caroline didn't think that the teacup was going to change or it would just turn back half way through. She smiled, the sight of the teacup turned ball gave her some if not all of her confidence back..

Okay time to get the ball into the bucket. She looked at the ball and looked up at the bucket. She quickly made a swish and flick movement with her wand, "Globo leviosa!" The ball floated happliy up to the bucket. and plopped at the bottom of the bucket. Success.

Caroline went to the next stattion. Oh boy! This was going to be hard. She hadn't even read the instructions yet, but she could tell that it was going to be a challenge. She picked up the sheet of instructions. She read it. Freeze one of the balls, and banish the second into the box. Holding her wand out again. She pointed and flicked the tip of wand twice at one of the bouncing balls. "Immobulus!" The ball stopped in mid air. Frozen just above the table. Okay not as bad as she throught it would be, at least the first portion of this task. Next she pointed her wand at the ball that still bounced. “Depulso” The ball zoomed into the box, easily.

Caroline made her way to the third and final section and by the looks of it, it was going to be even harder than the last. She picked up the sheet of instructions. She read it. Expand and reduce the range of the light of the lantern. Then make it appear 'invisible.' She raised her wand, took a deep breath. You can do this. Focus She told herself She has gotten this far. Focus. She drew a circle in the air with her wand then drew an X pointing at the lantern "Luxra magnifica" It slowly expanded and it got brighter in the room. Caroline through that by the time the light stopped getting brighter she was going to go blind. It was almost as bad as when she ran into Destiny in the secret passage, with their wand lit up it eachothers face. Now time to now time to make this lantern dissapear. She tapped the toip of the lantern with the tip of her wand. "Disillusiona!" The lantern slowly faded away until it was gone.

Caroline sighed in relief. She was finished. She turned to Professor Descoteaux "I'm Done! Thank you, Professor" She waited for the go ahead to leave or not.

Salina was nervous as she stepped into the classroom. She took deep breaths trying to calm herself. She smiled at the professor who was busy reading a book.

She took a calming breath and walked over to the first station and pulled out her wand.

Quote:
Change the teacup into a ball. Then levitate it and drop it into the bucket.
Salina remembered this. She held her wand out, pointed it at the teacup and traced a clockwise circle, followed by an anti-clockwise circle saying, "Mizurus Boru" clearly.

She squeezed her eyes tightly, hoping that the teacup had turned into a ball. She opened her eyes slowly, and upon finding a perfectly rounded ball, she aimed her next spell at the once-teacup-now-ball. "Globo leviosa!"

The ball levitated and using her beautifully swishy wand, Salina guided it steadily into the bucket that was suspended in the air.

Great. Now for the next one.

Quote:
Freeze one of the balls, and banish the second into the box.
When Salina looked up, that was not exactly what she expected but Charms was her strong point. She'd be fine. Her eyes followed the movement of pone bouncing ball. Up, down, up, down.

She flicked her wand twice. "Immobulus!" she said clearly, stopping the ball in mid-bounce. She then turned on the other ball, followed its movement and smirked that infamous Malfoy smirk. Salina pointed her wand firmly to wards the ball.

"Depulso!" she cried, almost laughing as the ball zapped around the room and flew into the box.

Now for the final station, she thought, grinning.

Quote:
Expand and reduce the range of the light of the lantern. Then make it appear 'invisible.'
Salina traced a circle with her wand and brought it down in two sharp movements making an 'X' shape. "Luxra magnifica." she said calmly. The light slowly expanded and the room grew brighter and brighter. So much so that the young Veela had to shield her eyes and yell "Finite!" to save her eyesight from being lost completely.

The light got dimmer until it returned to its previous state. Salina smiled and called to mind the last spell necessary for the test.

"Disillusiona." she said, tapping the lamp post with her wand. The object slowly faded away until it seemed to be nothing.

Salina sighed and wiped her forehead with her sleeve. There was no sweat, she was just happy to be over with the exam.

"I'm done, Professor." she said, waiting to be dismissed.

Right. So the boring bit was done with, and Ellie walked through to the next part of the room.

"Hey Little Professor!" BEAM.

....Or not. Mean Little Professor. Ignoring her. HMPH.

Anyway, onto the first station,
Quote:
The first station bears a plastic teacup. Three feet above this station, there is a small bucket, suspended in midair. The instructions given are: Change the teacup into a ball. Then levitate it and drop it into the bucket.
Change the teacup into a ball. Mkay. Circle, circle, "Mizurus Boru."

Ball.

She soooo wanted to flick it over to Little Professor. Not hit him exactly, but..hit his feet? Or that silly book he was reading that was apparently more interesting than SHE was. HMPH.

"Globo Leviosa," swish, flick. And into the bucket. Boring. SIGH.

Next,
Quote:
Two small balls are jumping up and down on the second station. There is a new-ish looking cardboard box, open, at the foot of this station. The instructions read: Freeze one of the balls, and banish the second into the box.
Ellie had been eyeing this station since she entered. Why? Because the balls were bouncing. Very distracting. "This must be annoying," she commented to the professor. And he STILL ignored her. She understood it was an exam and everything, but why did that meant that it had to be quiet?

Or maybe Little Professor was just in some cone of silence. And that's why the balls didn't bother him. And all the kids coming through didn't, either.

Probably.

Freeze the ball. Flick, flick, "Immobulus." Easy peasy. Heh.

And banish. "Depulso." And into the box. Meh.

Lastly,
Quote:
The last station houses a fair-sized, charmed lantern that is glowing visibly, despite the fact that the room is well-lit. The instructions read: Expand and reduce the range of the light of the lantern. Then make it appear 'invisible.'
Circle, X, "Luxra Magnifica!" LIIIIIIIIGGGGHHHHTTTT!!!

Mwahaha. Now, even that has to disturb Little Professor, yeah? A little? Ellie looked up at him.

Or not...POUT. She did NOT like this. Not one bit. "Finite." Goodbye light.

But, yay for dissillusionment!!

So, for this, concentration was needed. Great concentration. Foooocccuuuusssss. Tap, tap, "Disillusiona!!"

Excellent.

She was done. Good. She wanted to LEAVE. Get away from Little Professor's ignoringness. "Talk to you later." Because apparently she wouldn't get to now. HMPH.

Good Day.

After finishing his written work, Simon turned his parchement over as instructed before moving into the otherside of the hall. He gave a silent nod of greeting as he noticed Professor Descoteaux was seated off to one side reading before heading to the first station.

Looking at the teacup first, he then turned his attention to the note of instructions wondering what the task would be though having some clue based on the classes they had had this year. Sure enough, the ideas on what he needed to do to complete it came to mind as he thought back and the sixth year slipped his wand out ready to work.

Point..clockwise...counter..."Mizurus Boru!" he spoke focusing on the teacup as he followed through after doing the required wand movement. It took a bit of time as his spellwork went to work but he eventually had the ball shape as he had in his classwork."Globo Leviosa!"he added with a swish and flock, directing the orb as it floated up into the air and then down into the bucket.

One down, two to go.

Freeze one of the balls, and banish the second into the box, Simon read to himself as he looked over the instructions for the next task once he reached the second station.Easy enough to do as he remembered the first spell right of the bat even without his studying and gave his wand two short flicks at the first ball. "Immobulus!"he cast, the ball freezing in mid-air causing the sixth year to smile. It took him a moment on the second, having to think back to its counter but when it came to mind he quickly pointed at the one left jumping. "Depulso..." he cast focusing on the ball and then banishing it to the box careful to not let it go mid-air.

Almost done.

"Luxra magnifica..." Simon cast marking the circle and an x in the air as he focused on the lantern. The glow of the light within gradually grew to encompass the area around it brightening the space. Satisfied with the growth , the captain moved to the next step pointing back at the lantern with a clear "Finite!"

Now to make it disappear...he added to himself with inward smile. "Disillusiona!" he said, focusing on the lattern and the disillusionment charm until it faded to relative nothingness.

There. Another final complete.

Slytherin
Super Slytherin Buddy | | ⅓ She-Snake Trio | | a normal girl with normal knees

Finals week; the most dreaded and loved week out of the entire school year in her opinion.

Out of all the finals she's taken, or will be taking, Charms was always the one she looked forward to the most. Mostly because it was her favorite subject and she was fairly confident that she was going to be doing a rather nice job today. Of course, once the confidence kicked it, so did the nerves and doubts of her performance.

Finishing up with the theoretical bit, Evelyn looked up to the board, reading over the instructions once again to make sure she would do everything correctly. Otherwise, well, she may just have a post-exam mental breakdown and no one wants one of those.

Flipping her parchment over, the Slytherin girl stood up and walked to the other side of the room through the cut out door, taking in the area for a moment. There were stations lined up like she had expected and there was also the Professor who was looking rather comfortable at the moment with his book. Regardless of her opinions of the man, she smiled and greeted him anyhow, just like she had for the entire year. "Good day, Professor." Professor FrenchGuy Whatsyourname. She should just start calling him French Fry or something. French Guy and French Fry rhyme, so it only made sense!

Moving over to the first station, which happened to be the closest, Evelyn picked up the parchment that sat there, her hazel eyes scanning the words before glancing towards the plastic teacup and the levitated bucket. Well, this seemed alright. She was rather confident with this spell, though of course, just as she took out her dark wood wand, more nerves kicked in. There should be a charm where she could just make the nerves disappear so she could concentrate better. Charms was one of her better, if not best, subjects, so all would be well, correct? "Mizurus Boru." She said with one clockwise circle of her wand, and then one counter-clockwise circle straight after.

As if they both rehearsed together for hours on end and the plastic teacup was now on the spotlight to give its lines in one of the magnificent plays of the century, the teacup shuddered and started to mold into what she extremely hoped would be a sphere. The bottom of the cup smoothed out, causing the cup to fall to its side and the Slytherin girl instinctively held out her hand to make sure it didn't roll off the table. Just as she was picking up the tea cup so there was no chance it could roll off the table, her eyes spotted water filling up on the inside of the half close sphere, yet her attention was immediately diverted elsewhere on the cup. The handle of the cup seemed to melt into the side, stretching out and thinning as if wrapping itself around the almost closed sphere, and before she could blink, in her hand was a perfectly made sphere of water. Now that wasn't so bad.

Placing the orb of water back onto the table, making sure it stayed in place before retracting her hand, the Slytherin girl smiled before going on with the second step of the station. With a very well known and practiced 'swish and flick' of her wand, and the incantation "Globo Leviosa", Evelyn guided the levitating sphere of water up into the air, over the bucket, and then gently down into it. With one station down, her nerves seemed to have finally got a hold of themselves and stopped bugging her.

Moving on over to the second station, the girl couldn't help but stare at the bouncing balls for a moment before turning her attention to the instructions on the parchment. Good Merlin, she could only imagine how long it'd take Destiny to get past this station. The Slytherin girl could just imagine her friend being too distracted to even do the spells. With the instructions read, and a little smirk on her face from her thoughts, Evelyn located the cardboard box and took a step back, pointing her wand at the left ball. "Immobulus." she said with two flicks of her wand. As if someone suddenly pressed a 'pause' button, the ball stopped right in mid air of it's bounce while it's brother (or sister?) continued on with all the fun. It was only fair that Evelyn continued on with her own fun as well, right? Of course it was. With her attention turning to the second ball, right of the one frozen in mid air, she simply pointed her wand at the bouncing ball, following it's movements for just a few seconds before speaking rather clearly, "Depulso." As the sight and sound of the bouncing ball vanished, it reappeared once again in the cardboard box at the foot of the station. Still bouncing? Yes, yes it was.

Giggling quietly, Evelyn moved onto the third and final station, taking a quick peak at Professor French Fry before once again, her attention turned to the station. Oh, fire! Obviously this could only mean good news. Fire was a beautiful, powerful object that could rule the world, yet also had the nourishing abilities to bring warmth to those who were cold...What was she doing again?

Oh of course, the last station. Controlling her urges to play with the small flame in the lantern instead, Evelyn forced her attention to the instructions, though she couldn't help glancing at the lantern after every other word she read. Sweet mother of Merlin! "Luxra Magnifica!" she said quickly once she read what she was supposed to do at the station, creating a circle and then an X in the air towards the lantern, already concentrating on making the light brighter and expand to the areas around it. Now this was a final she could enjoy. Perhaps staring at the bright light for a few extra moments, just because she could and she enjoyed watching the light expand further and further, slowing down to the point where a snail could beat how fast the light was expanding, Evelyn sighed a long breathe before unwilling turning the light back to it's original ways. "Finite."

Now that she was practically blind, the Slytherin girl glanced back at the parchment of instructions to see if she missed anything. There may have been white dots in her vision, but she could still read she was supposed to make the lantern appear invisible. This spell was as much interesting to her as the expanding light and darkness spell was, so there was no doubt she had practiced it plenty of times on objects she'd see around. It was a shame she didn't know this spell when Destiny still had that annoying horn though.

"Disillusiona." With two taps on the top of the lantern, it took only a second before it looked as if it some potion was spilled on top and was turning the lantern invisible as it dripped down the sides. It didn't take long for the entire object to be completely gone, but when it did, there was a large grin on the Slytherin girl's face. The last station was complete!

This was a good day all you people! Yes, it was a very nice day. Twirling her wand in her hand, Evelyn turned around and rubbed her eyes as she mildly beamed towards the Professor. There were still some white dots in her vision that would appear every now and then when she blinked, but that wouldn't stop her happy attitude. Only a few exams to go now.

Kita walked to the other side of the Hall where she saw the Professor... reading? Shaking her head, she looked over at the three stations that were situated in this portion of the hall. Was it just her or did they look more intimidating than they ought to? She gulped.

Kita walked over to the first station which had a plastic cup on it and a bucket three feet above it. Funny. Confused, she read the parchment on the table.

Quote:
Change the teacup into a ball
"What?!" she asked, "How do you-OH!" A sudden realisation hit the Puff as she remembered her first charms lesson of the year. "Ok, this should be easy," she said. After all, she liked Charms. And she had revised. She pointed her wand at the teacup and glared at it. "Mizurus boru!" she said and watched as the teacup turned into a perfect ball. A sudden urge to play with it came over her.

Quote:
Then levitate it and drop it into the bucket
Ok. This wasn't too bad. Quite easy in fact. Kita smiled and pointed her wand at the teacup. "Globo Leviosa" she said, watching the ball fly into the air. She controlled the flying ball up and over the bucket before flicking her wand and letting it drop into the bucket.

With that done, she made her way towards the second station where two balls were jumping up and down. Her foot hit something on the floor and she looked down at the cardboard box. She picked up the parchment and read the instructions.

Quote:
Freeze one of the balls
Ok. Freezing a ball. That shouldn't be too bad. She pointed her wand at one of the balls and bobbed her head up and down in time to the bouncing of the ball. Timing herself, she said, "Immobulus!" A smile spread across her face at the sight of the frozen ball.

Quote:
and banish the second into the box
Right. Banishing! She remembered this very well indeed. She looked at the second bouncing ball, trying not to wonder whether it knew that its partner was now frozen. A glare formed in her eyes as she said, "Depulso!" Her eyes followed the flying ball which landed perfectly in the box.

With the second station done, she made her way towards the third, hoping it wouldn't be too hard. The other two had been fairly easy, which kind of worried her. She walked over towards the lantern that was glowing. But why was it glowing? The room was well-lit. She frowned and picked up the last parchment.

Quote:
Expand and reduce the range of the lantern
Ok. That shouldn't be too bad. Kita tried not to think about her bad attempts during the lesson. But she knew the incantation, which should be good enough. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She then opened her eyes and glared at the lantern. She pointed her wand at the lantern and said clearly, "Luxra magnifica!, forming an x and a circle in the air as she did so. And then it happened! The light was expanding! YES! She could have jumped in joy but that might not be acceptable given the circumstances. And now she had to reduce it again because it was starting to hurt her eyes. Plus, it was in the instructions on the parchment. She pointed at the lantern again and said, "Finite!" She sighed happily.

Quote:
Then make it appear 'invisible'
Oh dear! Invisible? Kita gulped. She was never able to do this properly, despite the fact that she enjoyed the effect this charm had. She said the spell a number of times in her head before placing her wand at the top of the lantern. "Disillusiona!" she said, tapping the top of the lantern twice. And... there it was! It appeared 'invisible'.

She breathed out and smiled at her work. She was well and truly happy with it. She did everything on the list and there was no way she could have done any of them incorrectly. Maybe the last station but she had a good feeling about this as well. Smiling at the professor, she turned around and walked out of the hall.

Feeling slightly discouraged, looked around the room at all of the workstations up front.

"Hello." Jared laid down the book, once again, as the next student entered. Christopher, wasn't it? The boy looked - like most of the other students - a tad nervous. The expected long pause followed, as the Slytherin attempted the practical, broken only after the said practical had been completed.

Finished? Yes, he could see that. Jared smiled faintly. "You're free to go."

Jared had grinned at the sight of Hugo hopping into the hall. The customary nod had followed, and the Charms professor had semi-busied himself in grading the Ravenclaw's paper, after having summoned it, as the said Ravenclaw attempted the practical.

"Good job, Hugo. You're free to go."

The cut-out door revealed another Ravenclaw stepping in, just as Hugo left.
Jared glanced at the stations to see if they had returned to their original states yet and, finding that they had, gave her the go-ahead. Having marked and set aside her theoretical part of the exam by the time she had finished, he gave her a faint smile. "Good job, Luin. Enjoy the rest of the day."

"Hi Professor", she greeted in a whisper.

Placing her wand back in her pocket she gave Professor Descoteux a nod, "I'm finished Professor" she said. She was about to leave when she realised they hadn't actually been dismissed. Turning back she gave Professor Descoteux a quizical look, hopefully he understood what it meant.
"Hello," Jared said, grinning at the fact that she had lowered her voice, so as not to disturb his book-reading.

Fifteen or so minutes later, the quill had placed an invisible O next to her name, on the notebook. "Enjoy the rest of the day, Emily," Jared said, gauging the meaning of her rather inquiring look.

It might have seemed as if Jared's attention had been focused on the book throughout Nika's practical but, in actual, he did not miss her nervousness or the fact that, halfway through the exam, she looked ready to be sick. Most of the students had seemed a little nervous, but the Gryffindor looked she had run into a particularly nasty ghost.

"You did pretty well," he said, giving her an encouraging smile as she finished. "Have a good day, Nika."

Perhaps he ought to have put up some sort of notice, that told the students they could leave after completing the practical portion. "Nice job, Freya. Have a good day," Jared said. He graded her practical just as Kyle stepped inside, and he gave the Ravenclaw a slight nod.

The usual faint smile crossed his features at Kyle's remark. Now, he could just hope that the students had learned as much as they seemed to have enjoyed.

That man truly was the essence of cool.

Turning to the Professor he grinned once more, “Fini!”
Young Patroclus from Gryffindor. "Depends on who's reading it," Jared said, returning the Gryffindor's grin a tad lazily. The boy seemed quite confident, and given that he had earned himself an O some time later, he had good reason to.

"Have a good day and summer, Prefect Hudson."

....

That was loud.

"Have a good summer, Savannah."

Girls.

Having returned the greeting Caroline had uttered right after stepping through the cut-out door, Jared had semi-turned his attention to the theoretical portion of her exam. He graded it, and then moved on to Salina's, looking up only, or at least it appeared looking up only, on hearing the girls speak up.

"Have a good day, Caroline, Salina."

"Hey, Little Human."

We beam back at you.

It did not surprise Jared that Ellie seemed to have had no real trouble casting any of the charms. "Job well done." Did she seem a tad miffed? He gave her an inquiring little look.

Talk to you later?

"When?"

Yes. W questions are important.

Evelyn seemed... quite happy. Jared couldn't quite decide if he found the change a pleasant surprise or suspicion-causing, but he still gave her a faint smile in response to her beam.

"Have a good summer, Evelyn."
