Raising a brow as he took her hand, the alarm bells in her mind only faint this time, she gently closed her hand around the note that was placed there before watching him lay back down on the blanket. Arithmancy? Ohhh, great. This wasn't one of those codes that Cela had made up right? Because she didn't want to have to fry her brain again. Opening up the note, she stared at it for a moment, trying to figure the first part out before...well almost giving up. WAIT! That last word. Nachos? OMG! OMGOMG! Taking out a pencil from her bag, she used her knee as a small desk thing as she figure out the first code. BAHAHA! "You, are the greatest." she said, glancing over to the Gryffindor boy before moving onto the second code. SPOILER!!: First step translated This one seemed, a hundred percent more harder. The first two words were easy enough, but the second part of the code... wow. "This isn't all one word is it?" she asked with a small chuckle as she glanced over to the SPOILER!!: 2nd code |
Quote:
"I thought you might like that first section!" The boy was impressed by the speed in which Evelyn had decode the message, he had after all planned that section to be a sort of introduction, for the next part was harder. Content with just lying their in the sound, Patroclus let his mind drift as the Slytherin beside him began the second part. He starred up into the clouds once again, it felt normal now after a whole lesson of doing it. He tried to stare at the places where they had seen thier symbold before, however they were all gone without a trace. "No, not all one word," the boy grinned more to himself, than to Evelyn as her question woke him, "This is where it gets hard. You have to figure out the last section on the code was grouping them into words!" He was happy that she had powered right through it, as he intitially thought she might! |
Quote:
Grouping them into words. Well, that definitely was a bit difficult. Nodding, she moved back to trying to decipher the first word out of the group, definitely finding it more difficult then her previous thoughts. Gah! She couldn't even figure out the first word! After several minutes however, she did get through the first three words, though, had become stuck. What in the world? Reading back on the words she had thought she had, the Slytherin shook her head before erasing them, finding that those weren't the right ones. Sighing in slight frustration, she leaned back on blanket, knees bent and feet moving to take her shoes off as she held up the note to continue reading it. Marking spots in the code, it probably took a good half hour before she actually finished to decode the actually message. At least...she finished it. Hopefully Patroclus wasn't bored out of his mind... "I got it!" she said, sitting up excitedly and looking towards the Gryffindor and then back to the note again. She hadn't really read it yet, but she knew she got it! However, when she did read it, her smile faltered slightly, but that did not last long. A shy smile crept onto her lips as she turned her attention back to Patroclus. "Well, I am definitely happy too that you stuck around this year. And hopefully...for the rest of these years too." What would she do without one of her Gryffindors?! That would be a sad day indeed. SPOILER!!: 2nd code translated! |

Coming to, to the cries of a jubilant girl, Patroclus beamed as he heard that Evelyn had decoded his message. He couldn't help but blush as he realised that it signified that she could now read his message. Trying to cover his red cheeks the boy replied, "I hope I can stay too!" He really did, he had come across a life that had been so hard to imagine, and now he didn't want to lose it! "I must say, very well done! I thought I may have stumped you, but you my dear as just too clever for me!" Patroclus said, as he scooted onto his bottom, his legs folded before him, "How lovely is this sun!" |
Smiling, she looked back down at the note, letting her hair fall into her face to hide the faint blush forming on her cheeks. If he happened to notice however, she'd just play it off as the sun was too warm... He looked like he was getting a little too much sun too however. Speaking of notes however, an idea popped into her mind as she looked back over to Patroclus. "Wait, I have something...for you..." Well, she would in a moment! Picking up her pencil, she turned around so Patroclus couldn't see what she was writing before scribbling down the message she was going to use. Alright, now how to make this a bit difficult? She couldn't use what the Gryffindor already used since, well it would probably be easy for him, but she did have one idea... Writing down the note, it took her longer then normal if she was working on a regular coded message, but the time she was done and turned back around, there was definitely a mischievous smirk on her face. "Try decoding this." |
Quote:
"Get comfortable, we will be here for a while!" the boy uttered as he took out a spare scrap of parchment and began to give decoding a try. He scribbed down the letters for the first clump of letters, but he stopped half way and began to look at the letters on the other side of '+', he decided to try mixing them with the others. It seemed a life time had past and Patroclus had made no progress, only random letters that were meaning nothing! SPOILER!!: Code of Death! Panic riddling his voice, the boy gave up, "Evelyn. Help." |
Quote:
Which, she almost did. Drifting off into an almost sleep, Patroclus' voice brought her back to reality when she heard her voice, and something else she had been expecting. Help. Hehe. Rubbing her eyes to get the sleepiness out of them, the girl sat up before taking the note and picking up her pencil. "I'll show you how to do the first word." she said, mapping out the process to take before handing the note back to him. She did get a look at what he was had done so far, and it was...waaaay off. Teehee. "Hopefully that helps ya." Otherwise, she maaaaay end up falling asleep. It was too warm out! |

As his rescue, began to talk, Patroclus saw something that caught his eye, the number had used to make his name, and next to them the ones he had use to make Evelyn's, but was has the key that held them all together. Returning his attention to his lovely partner, Patroclus finally saw the method to the girl's madness, and he instantly saw the message! "Thank you! How wrong were my first guess!" the boy laughed as he slide the code back before him, and with a feverish hand decoded the message, a smile stretching wide and wider over his face with every word! "There you are my dear! I hope I have it right!" Patroclus said, she passed the page back to the quiz master! SPOILER!!: Code of Death I mean Love! Now it was time to relax his aching brain! |
sorry for late response! Quote:
Sitting back up, Evelyn took the note and read it over. MWAHA! "Own, is supposed to be 'one', but I'll just give it to you. It's close enough." He got two of the three letters correct anyways. Sighing, since it really was a wonderful day, she flopped back down on her back, arms spread out eagle like, and stared up at the sky. "There...is nothing to do!" She already finished most of her homework except the Divination stuff, and she didn't feel like studying for exams. So all in all... ...there really was nothing to do. Plus the heat was making her lazy. |
Not a problem ^_^ Quote:
Patroclus could help but laugh at his silly mistake, "I thought it looked a little off!" It wasn't even gramatically correct, you think that would have told you, the boy berated himself in silence. Patroclus was impressed with how quickly they had completed their codes, they truly were Wizzer's at them now, "I think we should be code breakers, and then I can take you across the globe, let you see all I have seen!" The boys mouth was running, he was staring into the clouds, seeing more than just clouds. Completely oblivious to what he had just said, the boy continued, "I can not get over how warm the sun is its just -" Patroclus was cut short as he heard a soft Pop, and felt the fuzziness of the blanket disappear. Rolling over Patroclus saw that the blanket had indeed vanished! Finding their position quite amusing the boy started to laugh, "Do you think Dodson knew we had borrowed a duplicated blanket, and was wanting this to happen?" |
Quote:
Smiling however, since she LIKED what he said, she started to imagine herself being a code breaker instead of a wand maker. Hmmm, code breaker? Waaait...."That's not like being a curse breaker is it?" she asked, slightly mixing up the two of them. In her opinion, a curse breaker actually sounded a bit more fun, but then again, Patroclus made code breaking sound like a vacation. Which, seemed really nice. Suddenly not feeling the blanket underneath herself now, and instead the poky and itchy grass, Evelyn frowned before turning her head to confirm her thoughts. The blanket was indeed, gone. "I don't know." she mumbled, sitting up and getting all the dirt and grass out of her hair. Pfffft. Hopefully the professor wasn't wanting this to happen. Noooot a good idea. "But, now the ground is uncomfortable." |
Quote:
By hearing Evelyn's reply Patroclus realised he had actually said his daydreaming out loud. "They are very similar, but the difference being Curse Breakers, break curses, and the Code Breakers break Codes," the boy smiled smuggly, happy with his little joke, "Nar the main difference is that usually Curse Breakers are involved with opening tombs to extract momey, where as Code Breaks, work on numerical and worded codes sometimes Thousands of years old, my dad deals with them alot!" Patroclus could tell that Evelyn was not impressed with the lack of blanket, so Patroclus being the gentleman he was, set out to fix that. Springing onto his knees, Patroclus slipped his arms out of his robe, leaving him in just his uniform, he then placed the robe on the ground, spreading out it folds, "There, sit on that!" The boy grinned fine with sitting on the grass. |
Quote:
"That's cool that your dad does that." she said, curious as she watched him take his robe off. Well, it was pretty hot out. She didn't even know why he was wearing it- Oh! Thaaaat's what he was doing. Smiling she scooted onto the black robe before patting the side that still had room. "I'm not ginormous you know." she laughed. "There is still room to sit here." Well, she HOPED she wasn't ginormous, and pretty sure she wasn't. Bahahaha! |
Quote:
"I can't believe the term is nearly over," Patroclus sighed, as he hugged his knees, "Any big plans for Summer holidays?" Patroclus was going to suggest a hang out, but he wanted to make sure she was not busy! |
Quote:
Oh, and he brought up something she really wished he hadn't. Summer holidays. "Umm, i might be staying with Destiny for the summer." she said, looking over at him with a smile that she didn't even have to force. Well, not the entire smile was forced anyways. "How about you? Any adventures of the sort? Code breaking lessons?" Hehe. Not that he needed them. |
Quote:
"Staying with Destiny? I hope you can keep up with her, I am sure her room is full of chocolate!" Evelyn's best friend seriously was one of the most crazy and fun people the boy had ever had the pleasure of meeting. "As for me, Nah no big adventures.....well none that I know of, half will be spent in London and the other half in France, at Mum's parents place...I am looking forward to do nothing." The boy's heart was fluttering like a bird, small and fast, and summoning his courage, he ventured a question, "If its cool with you, We should hang out in the holidays, like in Diagon Alley, or you could come over to my place..." was it too much, "Destiny can come if you want," he added, making her feel more comfortable. |
Quote:
Truth be told, she had no even thought about chocolate being at Destiny's house until Patroclus had brought it up. Greeeaaat. Now she had to go on a scavenger hunt during her first few days there, since obviously, Destiny would have hid a few bars of the Listening to his plans though, Evelyn couldn't help but roll her eyes. "Because London and France are so boring." Bahaha! Well actually, she didn't know. But there has got to be a few things to do in those places. Or, actually, she herself probably could have found a million things to do...that Patroclus probably wouldn't approve of. Nor would the Ministry for that matter. Bahaha! Oh well. Hearing his other plans though, Evelyn giggle quietly before nodding her head once more. "I think I might be a little busy this summer, but we can totally hang out in Diagon Alley." Definitely! Perhaps Josh can join them too. Which reminded her, she'd have to find that boy. "Perhaps, a few days without Destiny too. I'm sure I'll go crazy if she does have chocolate stashes in her house." |
Quote:
"Good luck with that", the boy smiled, thinking a Destiny without chocolate would be a little worse that one with, She did get severe lows. "I dont mean it will be boring," Patroclus laughed at Evelyn's eye rolling, "I just mean, these holidays will be different to the last few, London is tame compared to where I have been. I am actually looking foward to the down time! While in France its just going to be relaxation time, I will probably just swim heaps, and run and get all the outdoorsy out of me before we return to hussel and bussel of London." Patroclus could sense rejection coming on, but it his great surprise it was only a partial 'No'. "Well that sounds like a plan then!" the lion boy smiled, "And if you need too, I am sure I can distract Destiny for awhile, to give you some alone time!" Patroclus wondered for the first time where was Evelyn's home, or Destiny's for that matter, Patroclus began to place the Hazel eyed girl in various places, by the beach, in a forest, in the country side, in the city..."he couldn't help but snicker at some of the placements, theu just seemed off. "f you dont mind my asking, but where abouts is your home?" Patroclus grinned, hoping hi question was coming across OK, "I mean I live in London, where do you call home?" |

omg i forgot about this. So sorry! Quote:
"Sounds like it'll be a fun summer." she said, poking him in his side softly. "Which means I expect you to be all extremely tan when I see you next." Mwaha! She should probably get outside this summer as well and not hide in whatever room she would be living in at Destiny's house. Perhaps see if she was able to get anymore tan. However, his suggestion that he distract Destiny so she had 'alone time', slightly got under her skin. What if...she didn't want him to distract Destiny? 'Cause that would mean he would be alone with her, and that was...unacceptable. And the only thing that was able to make her feel worse at the moment... Was that final question. Where did she call home? Right now, Hogwarts. "I..." she what? Where did she live? "I...live in the country. Untraceable." Mmhmm, good excuse there. She felt horrible for lying though. |

Not a problem! Quote:
"It should be a good summer, it better be, or I shall be rather annoyed," Patroclus joked, still starring at the clouds, drifty in and out of thought like the sun as it move from behind one cloud to the next. However he was woken swiftly from his gentle muses, but the accusations of a lack of tan, "And what's wrong with my tan now?!" he grinned, "Hmmmmm? Well now that your mention it, a year in the english winter has rendered me quite pale!" He added tanning on this list of to do's, he would show Evelyn! A delay in the girl's reply told Patroclus, 'home' was a difficult subject, so he endevoured to make it a light subject at that, "Untraceble? I am sure I can find it!" he smiled, "besides, i think all our homes are untraceble, would you not agree, our home is in here," he tapped his chest, "It moves with us, long after the walls and roofs have been torn down.." He turned his green, blue eyes, too meet the Hazel ones above him, locking them for just a moment, he smiled, truly happy with where he was. |

He dug in his pocket and handed Miranda the haphazardly written letter which had been crumpled up in anger and then smoothed out again on second thoughts about throwing it into the fire. “...My mum.” He managed softly. “She hasn't written for four years and now she's asking to see me.” Miranda knew the situation with his mum, even if she had guessed it, she knew. Teary eyed, he made sure to look away from Miranda so she wouldn't see. Oliver Greenwood was as tough as dragon hide – he did not flippin' cry. |
Quote:
Snort. Yes Miranda snorted! Oliver, alone? The boy who craved attention? Haha. She pursed her lips, but the smile creeping up on them was still visible. Allright, no more laughing, specially now that he looked so...miserable. Hmmm. After taking a deep breath, she got more serious, because yes, ofcourse she had felt the need to be alone. Like... last term. BLaarrrhhG. Anywho. Moving on. Still standing and looking down at Oliver, Miranda wondered what was up with the boy, because he looked like he wanted to be swallowed up by the ground...like now. Confused, Miranda watched him pull out what looked like a really used piece of parchment. Squint. And he was handing it to her... oh it better not have boogies or any other icky stuff on it! She was about to let him know what, but the word 'mum' made her freeze. His mother?? The AWOL/MIA mother who he hadn't spoken about much or who hadn't spoken to him in a VEEEEEEERY long time?? Sheeses. Carefully taking the letter, she smoothed it out as much as she could and let her eyes scan the words and the writing. Heh. Yep, she was serious there...she wanted to see Oliver. Glancing at her friend, her thumb nail began to get gnarled between her teeth for a moment before deciding to sit down next to him. And then there was silence. Heh. "What do you want to do?" She asked, still holding the letter but looking out to the Willow. It was as fierce as ever. |
