Ellie was done looking through the cupboard and finding a semi-small enough pair of gloves to wear. Though, they were still pretty big. Darn small hands. She walked back to her workplace, quite content now that she knew she wasn't gonna get any diseases or something by accidentally touching the icky blood. She grabbed a pedal and began wiping it around randomly. Nothing yet.

Sage slowly started to circle the room, ready to encourage the ones that still looked slightly disturbed. "If you've come across any of the blood, the petal will turn from red to violet," he explained with a kind smile.

Arya was taking notes as she listened to all the responses, because she aparently would need to know this to work with creatures which was exactly what she wanted to do. Wraping her feet around her stool, she looked at the flower infront of her, studying its features.

Even though she wasn't one for detective work, this sounded like fun. Picking up her flower petal, she decided to start on the area around her, whipping the petals across the surface.

Freeman was right behind that girl going to the cupboards. Right behind her. He couldn't believe that the professor had deliberately spread bird-blood all over their classroom. The workspace of minors! It was so unsanitary! And probably infecting them all with the avian flu, right this very second! Ugh. Was it hot in here? Was he getting a fever?

The small boy helped himself to five set of gloves and proceeded to pull each one over the top of the other. When he was done, Freeman looked like he was wearing a blue cast on each arm. He waved stiffly at the girl who'd asked for gloves. "I wish I had brought my Haz-Mat suit, don't you?," he lamented. Then he picked up one of the large petals (nearly impossible to move his fingers) and began rubbing it ferociously upon the surface of an empty pot.

"Is this right Professor?" Zane said, grabbing his petal and going back to his seat.

Alex eyed Zane looking at his violet colored petal, looked excatly like hers so she would say so. She however waited for the Professor's opinion.

"That's perfect," Sage grinned, examining the violet petal that Zane now had. Funny how it was mostly the Slytherins that had no qualms with this task.. "See how the violet is quite a bright shade? That's because the blood was fairly fresh.. should you have wiped the petal on the same blood tomorrow, it wouldn't be so bright."

Alex wrote that down in her notes, it was something that was interesting to know, she personally thought. She looked at Zane smiling proudly, it seemed Herbology was one of his strong suits.

Ivory bit her lip as she fingered one small little petal. Truth be told, the whole concept of forensic herbology was well pretty cool. Especially to someone like her.

Someone who as a guilty pleasure regularly read mysteries for the sheer thrill of trying to solve the crime before the heroine/hero detective did. But then again she was also someone who had recently developed a slight aversion to blood-seeing as she'd seen pools of it and still had not too pleasant flashbacks.

Gulping a bit, she tried to pretend this was a mystery. A simple little mystery where the good guys always won and if there was blood shed well most of the time it was the bad guy's...or the victim's?

With a shake of her head, Ivory cleared her head and concentrated on the task at hand. Leaning closer to her workspace so that her nose was only a few inches away she squinted and her tongue almost automatically peeked out of the corner of her mouth as she examined 'the evidence.' Then with a decisive nod, she brought the petal forward and began the uncovering of the blood with a simple petal.

Zane gave a really big grin. "This is starting to get fun" he said, quietly so only Alex could hear. He made a mental note to ask about some seeds later, after he researched the plant a little after class. He scribbled his notes down while he thought.

Alex nodded in agreement glancing at her notes looking at everyone else, it seemed most everyone was against the idea of petals and blood. She wanted to be a Healer..she wouldn't be able to be one if she got sick at the thought of blood.

"Who wants to try something new?" Professor Dodson called out, retrieving a plain looking potted plant from behind his desk. The plant was about a foot tall and consisted of one flower with pure white petals. "If you're yet to try out the blood petals, feel free to continue what you're doing.." he had a feeling most of them wouldn't want to. Ah well.

"THIS," he continued, setting the flower down on the desk of the nearest student, "is a Fluffletuff Bloom. Do any of you know what it does? How it might help Aurors?"

OOC: Again, imagination is good.

Fallon looked back up to the Professor. She wasn't going to try anymore. Oh, no. The faster she moved on the better. She didn't like this class and wanted to get it over with already.

She looked at the strange plant Professor Dodson put on the desk. It's for Aurors so what could it do... She knew nothing really about plants. Fallon raised her hand. "Is it used to help find fingerprints?" A guess is better than nothing.

Alex had no clue so she glanced at Zane, he was the Herbology expert out of the two of them she knew. She was so taking notes on this.

Oh, another fun plant. Zane thought about it, trying to figure out what the white plant would be used for. "Can you squeeze the bloom and get some odd material to take a cast of fingers, toes, shoes, and the like?" he said guessing. "If it's not that, do they use the bloom or the stalk?"

Kate took a blood petal...

This is going to be fun! I feel like a CSI! I love this! If Auror I have to be to do this stuff..Auror I´m going to study..yay!

She touched everything with the petal, chairs, floor, tables, columns, EVERYTHING..till the petal turned violet...

"I did it!, Professor, I found blood! Look! close to this corner.." she said, jumping fast.

I´m so happy! I revealed a mystery!

Kate received the flower in her hand and stared at it. "It looks odd..."She thought.
"Professor, could the Fluffletuff Bloom work in finding traces of magic or hexes? or maybe poisons?" she said.

Selena decided then she was not going to be an Auror. She was no good with plants, so why would she become one? Selena saw the pretty white flowers. Taking pictures of them were much more interesting than using them. Poor flowers though, being plucked like that. She sighed and took a blood petal before going around the room. she'd just have to make sure she didn't die from this first. She used the petal and rubbed it against different surfaces. Then she went closer to a window. Rub. Oh. Look... it turned purple~ Selena decided not to say anything. She wondered if the blood would spread onto her... hopefully not...

Flufftuff Bloom... it was pretty... So... white... hehehe. It gave Selena an urge to dump it in paint.

"It doesn't, no. But that's a good guess and a plant that did that would be very helpful to Aurors," Sage commented, smile in place. He wasn't entirely sure if there was a plant that did that..

"Again, another great guess," Sage complimented. "It's the flower that is used, and like the blood petals, it changes colour," he hinted.


"That's not what the Fluffletuff does," the Professor shook his head, "but there is very useful plant that does that and we'll look at it after this," he revealed. "But for now.. the Fluffletuff Bloom."

He gently touched one of the pure white petals as he looked around the room. "I need someone to volunteer to tell a lie. It can be absolutely anything as long as it's not true."

Selena raised her hand. "I'll volunteer," she said. People usually couldn't tell when she was lying or not... she wanted to see how this plant worked.

"Why don't you step up here then, Selena?" Sage said, motioning to the front of the room. "Like I said, all you have to do is tell a lie. Absolutely anything." It could be as bizarre as 'I eat niffler poop.'

Since it was all very amusing to watch everyone else search the place for blood spots, Evelyn had continued to sit where she was, a small chuckle escaping her every now and then. However the professor thought up this idea for a class, well...she couldn't figure out how he could. Perhaps the plant was something that needed to be taught? Or, the headmaster was making him teach it...

But...why would that be?

Hearing Destiny sound all excited, Evelyn broke out of her thoughts and turned around to see what her friend was up to. "Awesome." she mumbled, a smile on her face as she saw the little red spots.

But once again, there was another plant out and they had to guess what it was being used for. She...had no idea.

But it was pretty, there was no doubt about it. White was a good color for a flower. And perhaps, one of her favorite. Still though, that didn't give her any ideas of what it might be used for, and how it may help aurors. Luckily, she didn't want to have that as a career.

Wait...something about lying? It changes color to tell if someone is lying or not. Well now, not only was it a pretty flower, it was pretty darn useful too!

Deep in her pretend world where she was a top notch detective and only she had the means by which to solve the mystery, Ivory had scoured all her surroundings, looking for any darkening of wood of stone that might call for the use of the petals.

Everytime she suspected they might be of use, she would carefully pass the petal over the area and observe the shade of violet and set it aside for documentation. That was after all the key to an investigation. Observation and the detailing there of.

The pages of her Herbology journal were open to show the various petals with a short description of where she'd found them and the how old she estimated the blood to be depending on the color of the petal. Smiling down at her neat work, Ivory looked up as Professor Sage brought up a new plant for scrutiny.

Hmm it had surprisingly white petals. Wondering if it worked as a natural lie detector, Ivory looked on curiously to see what would happen.

Selena nodded as she thought for a moment. "Aurora Black is the best mother in the whole world," Selena said brightly. She had to prevent herself from rolling her eyes as she said that that. And the sarcasm.

Sage had absolutely no idea what the Slytherin girl's 'lie' was meant about but no matter. His blue eyes automatically moved toward the flower. The pure white flowers were quickly turning a midnight black and from the center of the flower spurted a small amount of black, ink-like liquid. Not good for him, Selena and the students who had chosen a seat at the very front of the classroom.

"Well, there we go," Professor Dodson said, unaware that he had a splodge of the liquid on his nose, "a natural, flower lie detector. Of course for obvious reasons it's not a great house plant.. imagine the mess!" It'd be awful. "But this beauty can come in handy at times. Thanks Selena," Sage smiled, "does anyone else want to try?"

"A pleasure Professor," Selena said as she returned to her seat. Selena cringed a bit when the ink came out and landed right on her cheek. She took out her handkerchief and a bottle of water. It was going to smudge. She allowed the water to fall onto the silk and dabbed at her cheek. Get off!!! Rawrs. Now she had her own supply of ink... on her face. She scrubbed harder. Rawrs. Ink on face bad. She could die from ink poisoning.
