"You hug me, and you hugged Garret, and you touched that guy's shoulder. You put your foot on Daphne, too. And I think you tried to do the same with Josiah, in Diagon Alley."

It wouldn't mar her reputation! He hugged people too. He just didn't... physically accost them or attach himself to them like he had accidentally-on-purpose glued himself to their side.

"Of course not. I wouldn't say anything that made you look like a bad person, Neptune. I haven't yet, have I?" And no. The nose kissing thing did not count, because he was RIGHT on that. RIGHT. She had TOLD HIM to kiss it. She hadn't told him that IT was the butterfly and not her NOSE.

...

Neptune's face broke out into a wide, troublesome-to-others grin. "You've been paying attention to meeeee, haven't you? You have," Neptune giggled at him and wiggled her little fingers at him. She wiggled them right up to his nose and poked it. GIGGGGGLES.

He was submerged in his own thoughts, but it never hurt to make sure...
Turning around, much too late it seemed. He managed to catch a bit of the conversation the boy and girl beside him were having.

.............CUTE?
Benjamin.
Cute.
Him.
Cute.
Huh...
Interesting thought. Benjamin had never gotten that from a girl before. Back at home, whenever a girl liked a guy, it's be a huge secret. If any girl had ever seen him as CUTE, he wouldn't have known.
But she had touched him. She had admitted it to the boy she was speaking to. How odd. This girl was much more different than the girls he was used to.

Wait. Was he, Benjamin....blushing? No. He couldn't be. But, oh yes, his face felt hot. But, maybe he just had a fever. Yeah, a fever that had to be it. Not blushing. Please. Benjamin Farley does NOT blush.

Slowly turning away and tuning out of thier conversation, Benjamin decided to pretend as if she hadn't done anything.
Unfortunatly, if she was looking - which he wasn't sure he was as he was paying too much attention to the fact that he had a *ahem* FEVER - then she would have definately noticed that he noticed that she touched him.

She would have also noticed that he was majorly blushing.

Or, er, feverish.

Neptune frowned at the young man she'd deemed worthy of her attentions. To Raiden, she said, "I think there is something with that young man? Is he having an allergic reaction?" Ahem. Neptune leaned his way and tapped him again. "Are you quite alright?"

"I always knew I'd be a Slytherin. There's no way I would go in any other house. I just didn't expect there'd be so many people. Or maybe I thought there would be more and I would sort of blend in. Another wee kid was smiling at him? What? Did he have something on his face? He smiled back though his smile was sort of amused... not so much friendly. He wiped at his face with his hands. He didn't just do the Moonwalk in front of the whole school with chocolate frog on his face. Right?

Meh.

Rosalie double taked. Did he just wink at her? She approached him.
"Uh hi?" Rosalie said in more of a question.

Oh no. That wasn't the response he was aiming for. The wink was supposed to be a deterrent. He smiled at her despite this. “Hello wee girrl.” He said in a sing songy Scots accent.

Actually, he was often the one to greet, wasn't he? Chaucer sat and waffled for a moment over whether to ignore her, and thereby increase his pomp with the others, or go sit and silence his mind of its incessant brooding.

The latter seemed appropriate enough and he was intrigued that a girl would engage him first. He moved down to the girl and held out a gloved hand in greeting: "Chaucer Ipswich, fourth year transfer." He stopped to collect himself. "The gloves aren't offensive are they? It's not that I don't want to touch you or such... not that I want to touch you as that would be deviant. Ah me, I'm a little muddled at present. I simply adore gloves. Your name?"

AHH! He couldn't have tripped over the words anymore than possible! Surely the worst sort of impression!

He looked over and saw Kate had arrived. Kate! He had completely forgotten about his muse! But he couldn't simply leave the current company until proper dismissals were performed.

Although there was something romantically tragic about a solitary poet, wandering through the stone walls of a castle.... melancholy in his isolation...

Eyes glazed over in fantasy, he appeared to be intently staring at a gold fork to his left. With a sudden break in concentration, he looked about with a slightly alarmed expression before setting his eyes to his uniform. This tie... it's just like everyone's tie! How are people supposed to know I have a marvelous wit and flair for dialogue when I AM WEARING THE SAME TIE!? Flustered, Chaucer made a complicated fold and secured it with a dress pin (he always carried on in his pocket) and decided to procure a brooch later on. It wasn't any thing he would normally have consented to, but desperate times...

Tobias looked up from staring at the golden plate to see a very…emotional looking Slytherin. There was no other way to describe him. The boy, Tobias noted, was staring at his tie as if he wanted to attack it. “Ummm…there’s nothing on your - ” he started to say, stopping as the boy made a fold and pinned it. Tobias mashed his eyebrows together, not sure what the older boy had achieved.

Leaning across the table so he could more easily be heard, Tobias asked, “Er…can I ask why you did that?” Silently, Tobias berated himself for letting his voice show his intimidation.

As he was turning back to look at her, he caught a look, (glare!?) from some girl. What was her problem? He grinned and winked at her in response.

Looking up Marie noticed there was an older boy sitting there with them now. "Hi, I'm Marie, how are you?"

Chaucer heard a voice from across the table, though he was positively surprised he could hear anything. Looking around as though attempting to spot some distant landmark, the fem-faced lad finally spotted the speaker.

"Why? Was that what you said, I say was that what you said?" Was that what he had said? It would be a terrible embarassment on his part to answer incorrectly. What if he asked for a spoon?
Life is about risks, Chaucer.
"I did that, my petit popinjay, because how else am I supposed to contend with myself? I would look in the mirror and see a uniform not Chaucer- and to be honest, I do like to see the old boy every so often. Besides, it could be a new trend I think." He looked down at the tie in admiration.

Georgie is NOT following Oliver, I swear it. lolol xD

Georgie didn't bother proceeding to her designated table. So, she was in Ravenclaw, but from what she knew, Hugo WASN'T Ravenclaw. Ugh. Where WAS he? D:

She stalked off to the Slytherin table, seeing as it was the closest table to her own. Flicking her pink-lined cloak behind her, she took an empty seat and looked around. There was just not Hugo to be fooound! Sob sob.

Biting back a whine, Georgie tapped the shoulder of the nearest Slytherin student. "Excuse me. Do you happen to know a Hugo Woods, and have you seen him around anywhere?" She tried not to sound desperate, but she was on the brink of tears. Wait. No she wasn't. She shouldn't beee.

Oh, and she was going to make it a point to ask only boys, as in her mind, asking girls would mean that they'd fraternized with him. Georgie wouldn't stand for THAT. Rawr.

Tobias tugged on a curl again. That was becoming a nervous habit; he really needed to stop. Nervous habits were not allowed in the Rivers family because Rivers were not nervous.

Hearing the boy speak for the first time, Tobias couldn't help but turn his head slightly to one side in an attempt to allow his words to sink into his brain. After deciphering his sentences, Tobias nodded in agreement. "I suppose I see your point," he said, picking up a spoon and tapping it lightly against the table, "individuality is good." As for it being a new trend, Tobias was unsure. He for one, did not have a pin with which to alter his tie.

"What year are you in?" he asked, "I don't think I've seen you around." And you are certainly older than me, he added silently.

"Fourth year, and the better for it. Last year was a complete waste; the only new friend I made turned out to have some peculiar issues and burned down a school. I had almost lost all faith in associating with those outside family you know, but then you don't know. And didn't ask for that matter." Neptune frowned at the young man she'd deemed worthy of her attentions. To Raiden, she said, "I think there is something with that young man? Is he having an allergic reaction?" Ahem. Neptune leaned his way and tapped him again. "Are you quite alright?"

"Why wouldn't I be?" Raiden answered blankly, leaning back ever-so-slightly when she poked him in the nose. "You've been with me the entire train ride. Of course I've seen what you do, silly."

"Maybe he's just... excited, Neptune," he mumbled. Or really embarrassed that Neptune's being grabby and stuff. Which was the correct answer, most likely.

Talking was becoming easier... perhaps he could do this after all! Images of stalking lonely hallways whisped away like mist.

Gradually like waves eroding rock, the nervousness was wearing away. Tobias could feel it ease off until his heart was free of any constrictive feelings.

"Ah. I'm only a second year." Two years wasn't too much of a difference - so why did this boy act so...old? "It was a complete waste? What about your classes?" Tobias could not imagine a school where classes meant nothing. "Sorry about your oddball friend...wait...what school did he burn down?" Tobias tried to remember if he had heard anything about incinerated schools over the summer.

Georgie raised her eyebrow at the boy who answered her question. Evidently, he was younger than her, and from all the experiences at the train, she came to the conclusion that the younger the Hogwarts students got, the more rude they acted. Just like that boy a little ways from her. THE BOY FROM THE TRAIN! The one who kept calling her a boy. Aaaand he seemed to be avoiding her. Heh. Good. :3

"I think I'm at the right table," she replied pointedly, placing a hand on her hip. "I know perfectly well where MY house table is. I was just looking for someone..." She trailed off. What if the boy was right? HOW could they not know Hugo Woods? Hugo Woods was... was... HUGO WOODS!

Biting her lip, she held back another whine. Where WAS he? What was the point of Hogwarts if Hugo Woods wasn't around? Meh.

"Sir Martigan's Academy for Distinguished Young Gentlemen. Quite a mouthful I know, but an anagram is impossible. SMAD-YuG, how ghastly. And yet, say Sir Martigan's and people think you mean the tavern down the road!" Chaucer tossed a dishevelled piece of auburn hair to the side as he continued. "My yes, was it ever worthless! It was a tragic repeat of second year, or at least Herbology was and I do love that study. It's one of the only things muggles got right, but were unable to succeed in entirely due to their tragic hubris. Not like Divination!" Chaucer gave a snort. "Even a proper muggle can do that, so there's nothing special in a wizard doing it, is there?" Lordy lords, trailing off again. What was I talking about? It didn't take him long to continue his tirade and even went so far as to cite how he defined 'worthlessness' as 'things learned which did not both directly benefit and interest him'.

Years of speaking to tolerant relatives had left Chaucer with bit of a motormouth issue that no one really sought to comment on, but rather ignore. Also, Chaucer always found what he said to be profoundly interesting, otherwise he wouldn't bother saying anything (in his abstract logic).

Walking slowly towards the Slytherin table Alex took a deep breath before trying to find a seat. There were so many people. So many people that he didn't know and so few that he did. Closing his eyes to calm himself when he opened them again his face showed nothing but confidence.

Walking closer to the table he sat down at an available seat without really looking around at those he was sitting near. As far as Alex was concerned the sooner this was over the better off he would be.

He followed her eyes to the other tables, or more specifically, the Hufflepuff table as if looking for someone in particular. He looked back at Vicky when he didn't spot her. “I'm from Scotland but we moved to Cornwall a few years ago. What about you? How come you're starting in fourth year?"

Hearing another someone addressing him he looked over the table to see another young girl. Where were all the blokes? And older kids? “Hello Marie. I'm Oliver.” He smiled at her. “Good, good. I'll be even better when we get to eat.” Man, he was famished.

"Nice to meet you Oliver, the feast should be starting soon. You will love being in Slytherin, it is a great house." Marie looked around at everyone that was sitting at their table, 'Yep, this is a great house to be in, lots of great students, even if they are a little mischievous' she thought as she glanced over at Evelyn, who was sitting alone, well without Destiny anyway. 'Hmmm, girl must have gotten lost. Oh well, she will find her way here soon enough.'
Marie looked up and down the table trying to find Evan but didn't see him anywhere. "Where is that boy, I hope he's not lost with Destiny. Nah, that would never happen' she thought as she giggled to herself.

Chaucer couldn't quite help but hear Severia off to his right. Bah!? Surely that wasn't... incredulity in her voice? I am indeed quite the gentleman aren't I? Oh yes Chaucer, of course you are. After the much needed talk with his inner self [to which even this narrator must roll his eyes], the lad decided to respond in turn. And why not?

"Yes! Although even I must relent that the name offers far too much hope for one seeking a proper upbringing and stabs at it roughly, leaving instead the bland knowledge that one had attended a very overpriced academy. Trust I came out quite right, but I like to think I am more nature than nurture." In fact, he would have put forth himself then and there that he was PROOF of nature's superiority was it not such a sensitive subject for some.

Art was looking for a place to sit near someone he knew, or a girl , preferably. While glancing around he saw his friend Chaucer. Ah ha, he did make Slytherin. Cool, more craziness to our house woot! I wish that there were more girls that I knew in my own house. Mostly as Chaucer coined 'cotton candy'. Woo that guy is a riot.

He grinned a sat in the empty seat next to him. Chaucer stood out even in the same uniform as everyone else. He had put a pin upon his tie and there was no mistaking that hair, with another guy at least. Art kept his uniform slightly undone, like a punk rock version of uniform. He would conform when absolutely necessary, as not to lose house points, but otherwise he hated it.

"Hey there Chaucer" he beamed."See, I knew that you would be in my house. Welcome to Slytherin my friend." he smiled warmly.

Dalanie walked over to the Slytherin table. She knew one person that was a Slytherin. She wanted to find more and meet more. Maybe even find some cute boy. She knew a few of their names that she hadn't met and she planned on meeting them. She saw a boy that she recognized as Benjamin Farley. She felt her cheeks turn red. She had a huge crush on him. Her lips tightened to where they could hardly be seen. She took a deep breath through her nose. She rushed back to her table full of Ravenclaw before she could make a fool of herself. Her brother Damar, friends with him. She had never told Damar about her crush and she didn't plan on it.

Chaucer took a step back from his veritable verbal leap at the girl. Ah, so indeed I have been too paranoid. Haha! Of course, who would doubt me? My breeding must clearly show through the uniform! His modestly was receiving a painful lesson from his pride the more and more he spoke to others. It was the first time he had to start from scratch, and he was quite proud of his progress. The grin that enveloped his face was childish and not something he would have kept on had a mirror been present, that was certain. Chaucer found nothing charming in acting juvenile, where a man was concerned.
"The clay must be there first, that is true, I say very true. Or is it? I've never been very good at philosophy because I can't make up my mind you see. Conflict, ah, a Gemini and all."

Chaucer brought his conversation to a halt as he noticed someone familiar fall into view.

Had he met him at a party, true as toasted toads there would have been consquences for forgetting such important contact information. Must remember as many things as I can about the others here, lest I seem addled or absent minded.
Chaucer gave a quick nod of his head with a comely grin; yes, this is how to do it correctly, old boy. "It seems like absolute MONTHS since I've last seen you! How was your train ride? She was cute after all. Not that... it... mattered to him.

Wait.....foam? Foam? Wow, a scuffle with foam... Art grinned at his last comment. "A scuffle with foam Chauce? Oh, dear old boy. How did we manage that?" Art choked back a chuckle. I want to hear this.

That explained why the girl was so forward: a Scorpio. He was going to comment once more, as he often scouted for reasons to hold a conversation, but saw that this may not be the best course of action. He instead noted silently the other two who were with Severia and contemplated the interaction as though witnessing some scientific scene play out. It was important to see how exactly people generally interacted in this new area.

I doubt I've ever seen a more genuinely peeved boy than that. What character! Chaucer thought, glancing at the gloomy youth beside Severia.

" I was TRYING to read my book, keep myself occupied, tidy and quiet. No need to make a bother when one is in such a tight little area, I digress." Chaucer jumped at the chance to talk about his escapades. "Then something happened and I mentioned a bag of ear plugs I had and well... Kellen just became battle hungry and hurled the things at my fragile person! I nobley declined, but he was insistant and soon the entire compartment was in an uproar! It was taken out into the hallway, you know, oh my! The mess! I was able to dodge most of the foam bullets by ah! I was taken out prematurely by a rogue trunk which hit my leg." It seemed that tea was in order for such a tale and Chaucer felt a little irritated that he so quickly wasted the entire adventure.

She wasn't too sure at the moment if that was a good thing or bad thing.

As the 18 year old started towards her house table, the thoughts about this being her LAST start of the term feast popped into her head. She stopped walking and looked around the place, taking in all the surroundings: the little first years that were getting sorted and people chatting away about how the train ride was. Her brown eyes looked right at the sorting hat and she sighed. This would be the last time she saw the firsties get sorted. It was sooo sad.

Right, she had to pull herself together before she started to cry or anything. It would be bad for her housemates to see their Prefect cry.

She shook the thoughts out of her head before she got upset, then she continued walking towards the Slytherin table. Once there, she sat down near some group of people and looked up at the staff table to see if there were anymore new Professors this term. She already knew one and that was Healer Ashford.

Cedric glanced around and gazed at each houses table in perusal. What he notice was this: other tables, Ravenclaw and Gryffindor house tables in particular has visitors.. or invaders. So does the Hufflepuff house table but why was that the Slytherin house table has none! Well, that was gonna change 'cause he gotta go at the snake's table to visit some of his friends he has really missed.

As he reached the said table, he's seen Reese who was looking sad and ridiculously melancholic; She seemed feeling blue. Cedric, wearing his smug smile, headed to Reese directly. He missed her so much! So there's no way that he would let the chance of talking to her would exceed away from him.

He coolly sat down beside Rees, smiling confidently and sweetly. "Reese! How have you been? I've been missing you!" exclaimed Cedric with so much enthusiasm to his friend then he hugged her for some quality seconds. He has a lot of things to tell her and he was quite sure that Reese have a lot of things to tell him as well. It was so nice to see his friend again.

"So Avie, aren't you excited? You don't look excited. Do you need a hug?" For some reason, Severia loved to pester Avada. Making him angry was fun, but quite dangerous. She'd seen far too many times what happened when he got angry.

Yoshi 01-09-2010 05:30 AM

Avada didn't reply. He knew that Severia knew that he didn't like being called that, especially since the origin of his name was nothing to joke about.

Art couldn't help himself and chuckled. That is hilarious! OMG Chaucer! I love hanging around you, too funny. Suppressing his laughter he smiled at Chaucer.

"That certainley sounds like Kellen." he chuckled. "What an awful time for you, dear boy."

So funny. Art sipped at his goblet of pumpkin juice.

"What book were you attempting to read before Kellen ruthlessly attacked you with......earplugs?" he grinned like a cheshire cat. I wanna laugh so bad! I love how crazy he gets with his stories.

Art liked to encourage Chaucer , because he was extremely amused by him. Wait until Blake and Lavi meet him. Oh that will be so much fun!

"Don't ignore me little brother!" Severia said quite loudly. "Fine. I won't call you that anymore Avada. I just don't want to say your name then sneeze and accidently kill anyone." Severia laughed. Seeing that Avada wasn't laughing, she became somewhat serious again. "It could happen."

Avada was getting quite annoyed with Severia's attempt to turn him into a socialite, so he decided to seek outside assistance. "Excuse me, my good man, would you mind terribly distracting my dear sister so that I can seeth in peace?"

Then he turned back to Severia and said, "First of all, I'm older than you. Second, that's highly unlikely. And third, I don't very much like the idea of having friends, so please stop trying to force me make some."

"Fine, Avada have it your way. But when you get lonely and want someone to talk to, don't bother me!" Severia was getting used to the arguments she has daily with her adopted brother. She wondered how their life would be if they actually got along.

Marvy, but the girl was touch loud! And yet she called the maudlin youth 'Avada'? Well, if that didn't sound familiar...

Well he was a right rocket, wasn't he? No desire to make friends, aloof, angry and polite to myself, which is all I could ask for. Chaucer allowed a faint smile to pass over him; there weren't people like that in his old academy for everyone was far too busy in making their 'connections' to even entertain for a second the idea of solitude.
"Maybe Severia, if I'm not being bold - though I suspect I am - it would be better to let him fester. Wait no - poor choice of words ah... let him remain in himself. It's good to contemplate on one's own life you know and all the better to do so when one's alone. I've never been alone as a child and now look at me! As shallow as a puddle I daresay, and not an ounce of shame where there should be!" He became quiet. It might have been overstepping some sort of social boundary to interfere, despite Avada's requests to do so.

Chaucer returned his full attention, or at least as full as was possible, to Art. What was it he asked? Which book? At least Art can appreciate some finer literature. He appears to be quite familar with muggle culture in any event, and that alone takes care of half my explanations.
" 'The Book of the Courtier', it's like my own little scripture. I reference it for almost everything, but of course there are things that I on principal cannot agree with. For instance, the issue of courtly love - though terribly romantic in theory - in practical use is as stale as working in a factory. Honestly, the set-in-stone formula for every rendezvous is mind-numbing; even the tragedy of pining unrequited for a lady's love was predetermined!" With an irritated flip of his hair, Chaucer spotted the jug of pumpkin juice and attempted to non-chalantly pour a goblet-full. He was perfectly parched! "You know, I still hold that someday powdered hair will return. Lords know, everything else has!"

"Oh! So you do understand, that's a relief! Yes, the one bright side about living a life on the shore rather than at the bottom of the sea is that there are so few things to distract one. It is much easier to get to know the whole of someone like myself than others who may harbor qualities contrary to those they exhibit. It's true! It makes friendship difficult at best, tedious at worst!" Chaucer sipped as elegantly as he could from the goblet and shut his eyes, trying to grab the flavour of the juice. It was his practice for when he eventually was of legal age to drink wine, as it seemed clear (to himself) that he would become a renowned conoisseur. "Art is quite the comrade, you know? Shallow as a puddle.....interesting way to describe yourself.

"One of perhaps the most important pieces of literature created during the Renaissance." Art nodded. "II Cortegiano, written by Baldassare Castiglione, circulated in 1528." he noted. "Yes an interesting read for certain, I would never be able to adhere to it." Art chuckled.

"No archaic rules for love here friend, I am more akin to 'Modern Love' by David Bowie." he grinned.

Powdered hair? Gross I pray not. Art was thoroughly disgusted by the idea. "Yes was is old becomes new again, but I pray that 'powdered wigs' never do." Art nearly shuddered. All that he could think of at the mention of them was insects , not the fun kind either.

To say Chaucer was impressed was an understatment; he was completely flabbergasted that he knew that much about his book! A feeling completely foreign to him took hold in his head for the briefest moment, before fleeing into some forgotten recess: inferiority. Disliked powdered wigs? Yes, he supposed that was something best kept inside. Just as the Victorian bustle, powdered hair was something perhaps that humankind simply never truly accepted for even in their own time periods they were scoffed relentlessly! Fashion must be a masochist...
That aside, Art was truly knowledgeable and this was an asset. He had to agree, despite the implications, that 'Modern Love' was definately superior to the older traditions he insisted on putting himself through.

Appearences, appearences.

"Art, you never fail to surprise me!" Chaucer gave a hearty laugh before he took the goblet up once more. As much as he wanted to complain, the juice was far better than what he was used to.

Sometimes its a treat to know someone without a poker face, which can get quite irritating, and boldness is considered a compliment by gourmets who insist upon this quality in their better sauces. Where was I going... Ah, what I mean is your forward personality is obviously a good thing as it is unique to yourself, yes?" What a way to be forgotten by history - why live if not to be remembered? Or is that too presumptious... you may forget that last bit as I haven't decided whether it was actually good or not."

FUUUUUUUUUD!FUUUUUUD!! There was going to be FOOD, who cares about the speech.
Dodging the sea of students as he happily strode towards the Slytherin table, Blake's gaze wandered over to the Gryffindor table and he frowned slightly. Where was Juicy Lucy? He hadn't seen her after they met for a quick chat at the Food Trolley. Shrugging, he set down and placed a long stack of transparent lunch boxes on the table. These boxes had two cupcakes each, made by Blake's mother for his friends to enjoy. Yo, they're like really pretty and yummy but he had already eaten his. Meh. Peering inside the box, he licked his lips and wished for the feast to begin soon or he'd lose control and nomnom all of these beauties.

Say now, here was one who got the big picture. Delightful! "Agreed, agreed! It would be a shame, clear and simple. It's good to hear another voice proclaim it, though my own is perfectly suitable, there is at least some reassurance that my philosophy isn't a total fantasy." Good company, good drink; this was how he pictured school as a tot when he saw his first period drama. The French intellectuals gathered in their cafes, talking of all sorts of grand ideas without acting upon them. It was all Chaucer had aspired to, since his parents' ideals were about as common as the pavement on the streets.

"Surprise you Chaucer? For what my friend?" Art smiled. Art knew that he was very intelligent, he happened to be quite the bibliophile himself though women were always more interesting. He enjoyed Chaucers company , if not only because Chaucer understood books.............and because he was really funny. If not for his ambition and mischievousness, Art would likely have been a Ravenclaw.

"You obviously have your usual good taste, when it comes to books, what are your thoughts on Shakespeare?" Art asked curiously. Shakespeare being his favorite author, he was curious as to what Chaucer would have to say about him.

He had been to Eelops with her and looked at all the adorable owls. Hers was so cute, as cute as she was. Well....almost as cute anyway. Awwww Nattie ! I wanna hug Nattie.

"Hey Nattie!" Art beamed at her. "Hey there is room right here sweets. Want to come sit with me?" He patted the empty space beside him. Aww come sit with me Nattie. I am so glad that she is in my house. Yaay for Slytherin!

Turning to give a quick glance to the young girl that addressed him he smiled politely. "Ah, yes it was in Europe at the time. I am afraid that I never found a particular fondness for that exact symbol, interesting as it looks. Perhaps it is because my culture never went through that particular trend though." Art responded with a smile.

"It is a pleasure to meet you Severia, I am Art Koizumi." he inclined his head politely.

Hm, what could he say about Shakespeare that would present an interesting view? For a long while, Chaucer had held a strange affinity for 'Twelfth Night' but that soon changed when, two years ago, he partook in a staged version for his dramatic arts group. The fact that he was cast as Viola wasn't the cutting part, but rather that those unfamiliar with him felt that Viola in drag wasn't convincingly masculine enough. Since then, the lad placed a wall between himself and the book.
" 'Othello' is probably one of my favourites, though the character Iago is really what drew me in. Simply evil for the sake of things, can you imagien such a creature? To know someone so sly?" He wondered to himself if the great Salazar wasn't similar.

"Hey Nattie!" Art beamed at her. "Hey there is room right here sweets. Want to come sit with me?" He patted the empty space beside him. Aww come sit with me Nattie. I am so glad that she is in my house. Yaay for Slytherin!
It never failed to intrigue Chaucer with the forwardness he exhibited that simply dripped with a sort of chivalry most men had long since abandoned. Despite his obvious experience for one the same age as himself, there was a certain reluctance within - as though to pay too close attention to Art may damage some fragile part of his childhood. But perhaps that was a silly notion.

Good company, good drink; this was how he pictured school as a tot when he saw his first period drama. The French intellectuals gathered in their cafes, talking of all sorts of grand ideas without acting upon them. It was all Chaucer had aspired to, since his parents' ideals were about as common as the pavement on the streets.

"If you don't mind me asking, why did you leave your school for extraordinarily handsome gentlemen for Hogwarts?" Severia asked. But, wait, that wasn't the name of his former school. Though it might as well have been.

"Well I had to leave since some silly ponce decided to do away with the whole insitution via a pathetic inferno. You know, I feel as though the teachers could have saved it, but chose not to. I never really put much thought into it I suppose - don't look a gift horse and all that rot." Chaucer gave a little sniffle before continuing. "A prefect I knew very well, though why he was so darned impressionable I'll never know, decided that 'twere better the school burn than left to stand after he failed his NEWTS. Wasn't handsome enough to get into that modelling job I mentioned in passing. Surprised he hasn't sent me a howler yet." There was no more juice in the goblet, but it seemed like a good point to take a sip anyway, so sip Chaucer did. He never did like that old School for Extraordinarily Handsome Gentlemen... but wait, was that the name? Well, it might as well have been he thought lazily.

"Well, I suppose that's as good as any reason to forsake an establishment." Severia said as she watched Chaucer take a sip from his goblet. "But I'm afraid I must disagree with you for the first time since we've met." A nice pause for dramatic effect seemed appropriate. That should suffice. "Iago had his reasons for being evil. In Othello." She said with a smirk. She understood evil far to well for a girl of only eleven. But how could she not, with the family she came from.

Destiny 01-09-2010 07:31 AM

BAM!
Destiny was here! And about time too. She almost missed the pie Headmasters speech. Not that she cared what he had to say, it was KaziMan after all. No, that man wasn't Kazi..and that other dude was new, and that lady was new..and..and..the pie wasn't served yet..such a sad day.

She stalked her way over to the Slytherin table, she has been practicing that walk to intimidate the new first years and maybe a few Hufflepuffs as well, annnnd maybe a certain Professor..who will bake her a pie, no matter what it took. She narrowed her eyes at the man known as Lawson, she didn't care if he saw her or not. It was just the point that they were narrowed at him, and as long as she known she done it, she was happy.

The table was crowded. It was hard to find who she was looking for.

She saluted everyone she passed,

'Firstie.'

'Firstie.'

'Firstie.'

'Marie.'

'Evelyn. Evelyn!' She was so busy saluting them all that she almost walked right by her best friend! Taking a seat right across from her, Destiny looked up at the staff table, 'Who is that guy? And that other guy? And that woman?' But most importantly, 'When they serving food?'

Smiling brightly, any bored mood of hers instantly evaporating, Natasha got up from where she was sitting, and took a seat beside Art. "How are you? I haven't seen you since Diagon Alley."

Emily walked along the table until she found some other first years. She heard Allisons name being called and turned briefly to watch her be sorted into Ravenclaw, then she turned to the first year girls. Gesturing to the empty seat beside them she said "Hi, can i sit here?"

Art beamed as Natasha smiled at him, he just adored the girl. She got up from where she was sitting , came over, and sat beside him. Aww, Nattie ! Huggggg!!!!!!, NO. Art behave yourself. No huggies at the table............unless she wants one, of course.

"I doing very well, thank you for asking dove." he smiled warmly. So polite too. What is it about her that just makes me want to hug her?

"I know, it has been awhile, I missed you." he said honestly. He really did want to see her more often. He liked being around her, it just put him in a good mood immediately. "How have you been Nattie?" he smiled sweetly.

Natasha smiled back at Art. He always spoke very politely, it was nice. She felt her cheeks getting hot again. Gah! She hated that happening whenever he was around. He did call her dove, though. It wasn't as if she minded it, she didn't, at all. It was sweet. But she couldn't help her face getting hot, and that she did mind.

"I missed you, too. But now we're at Hogwarts, so we can so more of each other." She had not taken to someone so quickly before, apart from her cousin, but that was different. Her eyes sparked up suddenly. "Oh, Art! You should meet me in the common room tomorrow, if you want." Nat said happily. "I want to show you my cat, Candela."

Staring at Josh being...a little too cozy with the Gryffindor girls for her liking, she shook her head, hearing her name being called but not really acknowledging who said it. Evelyn did kinda have to at some point though, since that person was sitting right in her line of Gryffindor girl hating view...

Destiny? "Where...have you...been?!" she hissed at her friend, leaning over the table slightly. "I've been sitting here with whoever these firsties are, listening to them go on about powdered wigs or, whatever the heck they were talking about." Taking a deep breathe, she shook her head and raised her hands up, not even waiting for an answer. There was probably a good reason her friend made her wait...five or ten minutes...for her to get here.

Looking up to the staff table, she shrugged and propped up her head on the palm of her hands. "I don't know. Young, young, and younger? Look at that lady, it looks like she just came out of school herself." Okay, so maaaaaybee she was a in crabby mood from being hungry mixed in with a little jealousy if she were to admit it. Josh hadn't even spotted her yet!

Marie looked up and down the table trying to find Evan but didn't see him anywhere. "Where is that boy, I hope he's not lost with Destiny. Nah, that would never happen' she thought as she giggled to herself.

" I am going to really take care of Kay" Rex told Marie. " I will never turn on her or you" Rex said to Marie. " Kay and you are both great people" Rex smiled at Marie. Where was Destiny? Ahh right. 'Wellll, I was outside.' Why did she always have to lose her pets? 'Inspector ran off. He ran to eat grass.' Because that is what Inspector Sly Moustache did, he ate grass. 'Powered wigs?' Who was talking about powered wigs? She stared down at the other end of the table to find whoever was talking about them. She wanted in on this conversation.

Destiny couldn't find them. The powdered wig discussion must have been over. Aww, she wanted to talk about them too! But they had other things to talk about besides powered wigs right now. Destiny turned back to the staff table, and spotted a red headed professor who was not Bunz. Unless it was her and she did something different to her face, but she highly doubted that. 'That guy is sitting in the Headmasters chair. KaziMan won't like that.' You know, since he was the headmaster and all..

He better watch who he's glaring at. No one glared at her best friend like that, or herself for that matter. And...okay, mood swings much? Glaring to smiling. She did not tell Destiny what? What? What didn't she tell her?!

Frowning, she watched the Gryffindor dance *rolls eyes* his way back to his table, having every possible memory flying through her head. What didn't she tell Destiny?! GAH! Oh...was he just messing with her? Pfft...better not be...

Him is a growing wittle kittie!! Destiny would have laughed at Evelyn comment about Bunz and Sly, but the Gryffindork didn't seem to get the hint that he was not welcome here.

Resisting the urge to stand on the table and tell her Slytherin posse what this boy thought of them, Destiny took a deep breath. She was losing patience with him. She had no idea what was happening to her this term but she sorta liked it. Yes, being in Slytherin was fun and quite frankly the best house ever! *glares at whoever thinks otherwise.*

What was that? A dirty look? Destiny turned so she was face to face with this boy. He just comes to Hogwarts and thinks he can rule the school? No way. That was Destiny's job, and Evelyn's of course. What was he talking about? Evelyn knew something and she didn't tell her? Or was this boy just trying to scare her. 'I'll have you know that your dirty look does not scare me.' Because if that was what he was doing, he totally failed at it. His normal face was more scary. 'Oh, and your dance is stupid.'

Buuuuurn.

Now that the Gryffindor weirdo was gone, Destiny and Evelyn could finish whatever they were talking about. What were they talking about? Right, Sly. Destiny fixed herself on the seat so she was facing Evelyn again. 'No. He isn't green.' Which would be totally cool! 'Hey! You can change him that color!' Yep, just act like nothing happened with that boy..

"Well, he is a boy." she said, smiling a little. A cute little boy kitten. Yesh he wassss...

Wow, Destiny was really angry. Even Evelyn wouldn't cross the Slytherin girl at the moment. Oh yes, this year was going to be amazing. Smirking, she stared at Rex as her friend spoke, enjoying the little show. Though at the words 'your dance is stupid', she couldn't take it and burst out laughing. She had to agree about his dance, and just the thought made her laugh even harder.

After a few moments, she calmed down, taking a sip of water and wiping away the tears, Evelyn nodded and looked back up to Destiny. "I applaud you my Slytherin friend. You certainly have changed over the summer. Maybe you should stay at your grandmother's house more often. As far as the changing colors go, I don't think the spell works on animals or any really living thing for that matter. I tried to change Tiki green, but it didn't work. And I know I didn't do the spell wrong." That definitely was a frustrating day, and she had 'borrowed' her father's wand to do it too. Oh boy did she get into trouble...

after she was sorted, Nella walked to her house table, she wasn't surprised that she was a Slytherin after all, all her family was in Slytherin, she sat at the far end. looking miserable more than ever, she was asking herself, do i really belong to this school, why am i here? a single tear escaped her, but she tried to look happy, she thought, i should be happy, this is what i wanted all my life. and she looked at the table, she noticed that she's not the only one who's lonely and hoped she'll have friends soon.

Thalia!

Parker had only one complaint about his last name. Since it began with a Y, he was always the last at everything, including the house sorting. The hat itched his head, how old was that thing exactly? Hogwarts was not up to date with this sorting. There was plenty of other, non-itchy ways to be sorted into a house.

Parker proudly walked ti his house, the house he knew he would be sorted into, Slytherin. He would have to rub that into Thalia's face once he found her. As he walked, he scanned the Ravenclaw table, no sign of her. He was sure she was sorted already, and Parker was not paying attention to where she went. He moved his eyes to the Gryffindors and she wasn't there either. He smirked as he scanned the Hufflepuff's, she had to be there. There was no way she was a Slytherin. She wasn't anywhere to be seen, and Parker was confused. Where could she have ran off too? Maybe she was crying somewhere over the house she is in. He mentally laughed at her.

He gave up looking. He didn't want to deal with her anyway, he finished his walk and sat down in an empty seat surrounded by other first years. Maybe he would meet someone normal and not psychotic like Thalia. Now he just needed someone to talk too. Maybe that girl that looked sad, and she looked quite a bit like Thalia. He scooted himself closer to the girl, but stopped. That was Thalia. But what is she doing here? "Thalia?" he questioned, she unbelieving. "Shouldn't you be sitting with the other Hufflepuffs. I don't think they like when people sit at other tables." he smirked.

Did Evelyn mean all boys eat everything, or just boy cats? If it was all boys, that could explain why her brothers were so..weird. They ate everything! 'He likes pie, too.' That wasn't good. He would always get up in Destiny's pie..and she did not like to share that.

It was funny. It would have been funnier if he fell on his face, but Destiny wasn't having any luck today. 'So my change is a good thing?' She was starting to notice this 'change' too. 'It's just him!' She turned to the table he was at and pointed, and what was he doing? Was he--'My eyes! They are burning!' No matter how much her eyes burned, she just couldn't look away. Ewww! She had to look away..'Did you see that?' she asked still pointng, but at least she wasn't looking anymore. 'He was feeding her. Rex was feeding Kay!' That had to be the grossest thing she had ever seen..Fine it was the second grossest thing. The first had to do with her grandmother on a hot summer day. *Shiver*

They just needed to move on with their conversation about Sly. Lowering her arm, so she was no longer pointing at the grossness that was Kay and Rex, Destiny frowned. 'No green kitty?' Well that would have been fun. He could've been Slytherin Sly Moustache. She would secretly call him that.

Hmm, well then, Sly and Destiny went perfectly with each other. They both liked pie. Though what was the big deal about pie, Evelyn had no clue. "Yes, a good thing." A very good thing. She was getting slightly worried last year since Destiny seemed too...nice, even though the girl agreed with her on most things, but now... Now it was like another Evelyn she befriended. Though not all weird with this voice thing in her head. Where was that voice anyway...

Startled by the sudden outburst, Evelyn stared wide eyed at Destiny, trying to figure out what made her eyes start to burn. "What? Are you alright?!" Half standing up, she poured some water into an empty goblet that was next to her and was about to hand it over to her friend when she said something about Rex and Kay...feeding each other? knitting her eye brows together, she looked over to the Hufflepuff table, and sure enough...that was gross. Making a gagging sound, she sat back down and placed the goblet of water on the table, shaking her head at the two 'lovebirds'.

Taking a deep breathe, she smiled slightly at Destiny and shrugged her shoulders. "Nope. No green kitty. Unless you give him an outfit or something." The collar was pretty green too now that she thought about it. Was he still wearing it?

Rubbing her face, Evelyn pushed her dark hair away from her eyes and sighed. She was actually getting pretty tired and she couldn't wait to get back to the Slytherin common room in the dungeons. A nice cozy bed awaited her! Another small smile appeared on her lips as she thought of that, and she looked around, just seeing who else was at the table.

One girl did stand out in particular. She looked pretty lonely, and even though she looked happy, the sadness underneath that emotion was showing more than the girl thought. 'Of course she's sad. She's crying!' Well yea, it was pretty obvious, and she was sitting close by which made it easier as well. Maybe...they could be 'friends'? Heck, she was in a good mood right now. "Hey...You." she said, not knowing the girl's name as of yet. "Why don't you come sit with us." Gesturing to herself and to Destiny, Evelyn tried to look as kind as possible. Don't want to scare her away or anything...

He stopped leaning; she just kept getting closer anyway, so it wasn't like it would do any particular good. 'sides, it felt better to sit up straight and not be all bended and stuff. And her proximity wasn't so bothersome anymore, for the most part. Adjusting, adjusting.

Doubtful, but... possible. He bit his tongue as she chided the boy for... fanboying, trying not to laugh. It was CUTE, OKAY? IT WAS CUTE.

"Do you always guess so accurately? Maybe, if you do, you could stop guessing and started stating it as fact?" Neptune slipped her arm around his middle and gave him a little squeezey hug. "Thank you for your guess. YOU're pretty TOO." At least!

Neptune turned back towards the BIG staff table. That man was STARING at her. So she waved again. HIIIIIIIIIIIIIII MAN!

"Don't look at him." The beet-red fanboy. "If we pretend he isn't there, then surely he'll disappear. Surely. You should instead tell me about those people." The staff people, as indicated by Neptune's little finger blatantly pointing towards their table.

Evan could finally find his way away from Beaumont and reach the Great Hall with HIS chocolate, and totally fit body. Stupid Beaumont. She had just said he was flabby. What. A. Lie. He was sure she said it because she was jealous, and wanted HIS chocolate. He was holding it as if some crazy robber was behind him, and wanted his chocolate pile. He dropped some, and immediately grabbed it before it hit the ground. See? See? He had also good reflexes. Liar Beaumont. How he wished she would see him now? With his abilities so obvious? Though he didn't care. He knew he was perfect, and that was enough.

Before sitting to somewhere, he looked for a familiar face at the table as he walked towards it. He spotted Marie with some people he didn't know. With a smile again, he made his way towards them. "Heyy." he said the people around, and sat next to Marie. "Is the issue at the train solved?" That was a issue she was trying to solve between her friends, right? He dropped the big pile of chocolate in front of him. "Take your pick." he said to no one particular. It contained every kind of chocolate. He grabbed one for himself, then halted. The food must be delicious now. He eyed the half-opened paper of chocolate, and then glanced at his belly. With a sudden movement, he wrapped it again. He was not flabby, and would never be. Clearing his throat as if he just hadn't cared for his fitness, he asked to Marie "Has the headmaster talked?"

Chaucer definitely is popular tonight! Kate took him up on his invitation and made her way over to where he was sitting. "Hey Chaucer! Do you guys have room for another friendly face?" Kate smiled at the new people Chaucer had met, and noticed Art as well. "Hi Art! Long time no see! How are you?"

Sapphyre noticed a dull in her conversations and shrugged, waving goodble to Rosalie and Thalia. Instead, she went to sit by a girl that looked rather sad and smiled slightly.

"Hi, I'm Sapphyre Black," she said, offering her hand, "but you can call me Phyre."

Yes she was suppose to be at another table. NOT SLYTHERIN! She put her arm on the table and her chin was on her hand. Thalia looked at the arrogant boy next to her and really didn't care as much. She was in too much of a depressing mood to reply back in a smart way. "I wish," she muttered. "I really do Parker. But here I am. In the awful stupid house that I have to spend my next six years at Hogwarts," she said in a tone of misery. She was no longer that hyper little girl on the train. "Ughhhh....," she sighed and put her head at the edge of the table looking down at her feet, which were half hidden by her robes.

Iris walked into the Great Hall alone, having lost Aaron, Satine, Lucia and Wesley on the way in. There were too many students, if you asked her. She walked through the hall slowly, looking rather meerkat-like, searching for at least one of her friends. She couldn't find anyof them. Then she saw a familiar blonde boy, sat near the Prefect ... What was his name again? Never mind, and some other girl. He looked pretty uncomfortable around them. HA! Cartwright, uncomfortable. That's just made my day.

Then 'Cartwright' turned round. Whoa ... That is not Cartwright. Wow. It's ... It's ... He's cuter than Cartwright.

What are you saying?!
What? I'm not allowed to say some one is nice looking?
What about Aaron?
What about him? We're not technically going out.
Sure your not.
We aren't! Neither him, nor me, have ever asked the other out.
Still, don't go having those thoughts.
Why not? They aren't hurting anyone.
Yet.

Seeing as though none of her friends were around yet, she made her way over to the boy... He was new, but he looked too old to be a first year. Iris smiled at him as she sat opposite him. For a moment, she forgot that she was wearing make up, and she forgot that Cartwright thought she was going out with Aaron; this guy's eyes were amazing. "Hi there, I'm Iris." She said simply, with a small smile.

Marie was sitting there talking to Vicky and Oliver when she heard a familiar voice. Looking up she was happy to see it was Evan. "Hey Evan, I was beginning to think you weren't coming. I'm glad you did though." 'Oh yeah, that nasty issue on the train' she thought when Evan asked her if it had been resolved. "Well I guess the problem is sort of resolved." Marie wanted to tell Evan the whole story but now wasn't the time, she would wait until later to tell him what had really happened on the train.
Realizing that Evan probably didn't know Vicky and Oliver since they were new to the school she said. "Hey guys, this is Evan, a friend of mine. Evan this is Vicky and Oliver, they are both new here this term."
'Ooohhh, chocolate frogs' Marie thought as she looked at all the chocolate Evan put on the table. "Thanks, but I loaded up on my chocolate supply too when we were on the train. I think I will have enough to last a few days." Marie watched Evan put the wrapper back on the chocolate he had started to unwrap. "Something wrong with your chocolate?" 'Stupid question Marie, maybe he just decided he wants to eat real food first.' Marie felt her cheeks turn red as she realized how stupid her question sounded.
"The headmaster hasn't said anything to us yet. He's talked to the prefects that have went up to the table but that's it. At least I think he's the headmaster." Looking up at the staff table Marie did not see Kazi sitting in the headmaster chair, instead there was some stranger sitting there. Looking along the whole staff table she didn't see Kazi sitting anywhere. "Hey, you think Kazi got booted out of here? Or maybe he quit when he didn't get the headmaster job." Marie's life would be so much easier if Kazi was not teaching this term, especially if he wasn't teaching potions. Thinking about that first time she met Evan and what a fool she made of herself with the love potion she could feel her cheeks turning red again. 'Okay, so maybe that class wasn't so bad, I did make a new friend that day' she thuoght as she played with the fork laying there next to her plate.

Anyone who wants to RP

Walking away from the sorting hat and towards the Greenie Table, as Lavi liked to call it. He sat down on the bench and looked at his fellow students. He noticed a few that he knew but they were all talking to others so he just let them talk. His eyes looked towards the front of the Great Hall and looked at the Professors. He wondered who would teach what subject and he leaned his elbow on the table, resting his head on it. He turned around and he suddenly noticed that he was tired and hungry. He wondered where he would be sleeping. He had heard something about a tower...or was that an other house? Lavi couldn't remember but it didn't matter, he would soon find out.

'Stupid question Marie, maybe he just decided he wants to eat real food first.' Marie felt her cheeks turn red as she realized how stupid her question sounded.

Evan smiled brightly at Marie. He was glad he found her too. There was a possibility of sitting next to Beaumont and--oh no. Not Beaumont again! He eyed her for a moment as she sat somewhere far. Good. Now, he could eat his meal happily, without any guilty conscience of his body or stomach. She'd managed to ruin his day again. Buuut, he was with Marie, and he should listen to her. Nodnod. He smiled again. "I'm happy that it's resolved." There was no nastier thing in a school lie having bad relationships with your 'friends'. The image of hugging Beaumont and Devilson on Diagon Alley passed through his eyes. Shudder.

"Ohhai." he said to both Vicky and Oliver. Newbies. Perfect. He remembered his last year when he was new to school too. It was always exciting. Hopefully, they would like here too.

"Oh, um..." Nothing was wrong with the chocolate, it was Beaumont who was wrong! She had said he was flabby, and now he would eat less from the delicious food today, and no more chocolate! He still didn't think he was chubby, but it didn't matter. She had rooted her evil thoughts once, and he wouldn't be able to eat whatever he wanted anymore. Giving another look of pure hatred towards her, he said "Nothing. Just that I've eaten enough today either." He would never admit that he suspected him being fat. Uh-uh.

As Marie started to answer his question, he looked up at the professors' table. Some new faces... Many new faces, he counted three. And who was that on the headmaster's seat? Where was the previous one? He remembered Kazi talking about his leave. Something like going on indefinite holiday. Wonder if the new guy's good.

"I don't know... maybe he hasn't arrived yet." That kind of man didn't look like he would ever leave torturing teaching the students. Must have punishing a kid somewhere. Poor kid.

Then, as his eyes were still searching for Kazi, he saw Lavi walk to the table from the sorting. Why did he attented the sorting? Hadn't he already been sorted in Slytherin? He shrugged and waved at him to come and sit with them. That guy was awesome and cool.

Whoa, and there another familiar face. He turned to see half-veela Violet. He didn't want another Victoria incident, so his other hand's nails pressing to his palms to remind he was Evan Cartwright and not some random veela-fan-boy, he smiled. "Hi. How was your summer?" Remembering that day with Victoria again... Shiver. What an embarrassment.

"Are those cupcakes?" Sylvia sat down next to Blake at the Slytherin table, peering over the lids of the transparent boxes. She giggled as she looked over at Blake and gave him a side on hug. "BLAAAKE! I've missed you? I thought you had been abducted or something." Scary thought, but she had been distracted by other people to forget about that. "So, How've you been?"

Nicoletta observed the plates and silverware. She had never really taken a good look at them and quite honestly, they were pretty. They gave you an almost light floaty feeling in your stomach. She had noticed that last year. Now I'm going crazy. she thought. Really, silverware?!
