Kazimeriz turned to Maximus. "I think that gives them the proper finish, do you agree?" He smiled and turned, taking the orator's position at the podium.
The wings of the great owl spread open, signaling that the Deputy Headmaster was about to speak. He raised his wand, lowering the lights in the hall except for on the dais. The stage was set, and the ancient showman raised his arms dramatically.
"YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE! Before we call the feast to a close, we have a bit of special entertainment for you tonight. Third years Hufflepuff Willie Crocker and his co-hort, Slytherin Cameron Karsten, have behaved most reprehensibly tonight. They have disrupted the feast and impacted the first impression of this school for our many new students. We want you all to be aware that this sort of selfish behavior is intolerable at Hogwarts."
"In fact, so ashamed are these two boys of their foolish actions, that they will be performing an improvised song and dance routine to win your forgiveness. If you feel their performance is worthy of your forgiveness, you need merely applaud or cheer for them. If not, you may show your very vocal disapproval. Their future-- no, their very fate is in your hands."
With that, he raised his wand and strains of the muggle song I'm Sorry started to play through the hall.
"It's showtime, folks!" Kazimeriz said, turning and smirking at the boys.
"You're on."
As an afterthought, he transfigured their shoes into tap shoes to give their 'act' a bit of extra pizazz.
Lucy looked up at the staff table to see both Cam, and Willie together. Aw, what a horrible punishment!! Lucy knew that they had done a lot of wrong throughout the feast but...she felt pity for both of them. Cam, because she was his Auntie Lucy, and she absolutely adored the kid, and Willie because...well...she had gotten over the whole train incident. Plus, to her, Cam and Willie equal in her eyes, so why not? She pouted, and put on the most sympathetic look on her face, hoping it wouldn't go too far.
"Aw, Cam...Willie." Those darn kids!! Why'd they have to do all of that? Oh, right...cause they're weirdos. Lucy understood. That was kind of like her back in muggle school. Caused so much trouble...and then she came here where she wasn't alone yet very alone. But at least she was with people like herself, not wacko meanies. Lucy stared intently at the two third-year boys, wishing for it to be over soon.

What do you know, she thought to herself. She was finally coming of her shell and meeting new people. Things were starting to look up.

Iris looked up to the staff table from where she was sat with Satine and Aaron, she hadn't really paid much attention to what had happened ... "This should be interesting, don't you think?" she said with a grin to her two friends. She looked at Aaron for a moment longer than she should have done and quickly looked back to the staff table, hoping Satine didn't notice.
I'm really sorry, I left without notice and didn't come online for three days!!! :(

"You ok? Better be careful next time, because I don't mind waiting until you've finished whatever food you have in your mouth." he said, "It's ok, it happens to the best of us, doesn't it? Back then my parents would always complain if I did that, and after a while I got better, although it feels bad to make anyone wait." It's better to wait than to make others wait. Another lesson he got from his parents. He took another bite of the pie, it tasted quite good--almost as good as the ones he used to have.
Chelle saw Edem smiling slightly as she coughed. At least I made him laugh and didn't annoy him, she thought, relieved. 'Yeah, sorry. I was so engrossed in talking to you that I forgot I was chewing!' she told him, and gulped down more juice. 'You do learn a lot from your parents!'

Lasca smiled as another familiar voice said hello. She didn't quite remember where she had seen her but she knew her just that same. "Hello Nia! Good Holiday?" It was wonderful to be back at Hogwarts and she was determined to make this her best year yet. Which meant more friends and getting lots of House points. I'll start right now.
Course she was trying to carry on a three different conversations but thats what made socializing fun. The Ravenclaw nodded her head as Nia gave her two cents about the topic she was discussing with Ali. She wasn't going to call it an argument because no one was mad or yelling, and she certainly wasn't going to call it a lecture. Nope. It was a pleasant conversation in which a few Ravenclaws were trying to get their newest House mate to accept that Ravenclaw was a totally respectable house.
Rrriiiiggghhhttt.
Nia nodded with a smile. "It was pretty good thanks. Could have done without my brothers for at least part of it, but can't really complain otherwise." She glanced over to the Slytherin table momentarily, but after deciding that it was too busy to see anything brought her gaze back to her friends. "Just had a relaxing time at home - read a few books in the garden and stuff like that. How was yours?" Nia asked in reply, completely unaware of what Lasca had been talking about to Mariel and the others.

You roll this ball, well it's like a Quaffle but really heavy, down on the ground and try to knock over these sticks... I think they're called pins. Oh, and we did something called rollerblading. That's shoes with wheels." Somewhat sheepishly, she added, "I fell. A lot."
Nia couldn't help overhearing Mariel talking about the muggle activities she'd tried. "Bowling's fun!" she said with a smile, and nodded as she called the 'sticks' pins. "Though I get arm ache if I play too many games in a row, and it wrecks my thumb nails." She chuckled. "And I'm with you on the rollerblading," she added, noting Mariel's look, "It's so hard to master. I had so many bruises when I learnt as a kid. And I'm still rather rubbish. Don't know how some kids can do big tricks off ramps on them."

"Well, with the new potions lab that Professor Kazimeriz has set up, I plan on making a lot more of it during the term. You can come help if you want." Certainly Kazimeriz would be impressed with her dedication and ambition, and maybe give out some extra credit. Or maybe she could even sell the stuff and give Madame Primpernelle a run for her money. Her mind started to drift with delusions of grandeur when Nia's voice brought her back down to Earth. She tilted her head to assess the other girl's appearance. "Well..." she began slowly. "Short hair would be easier to take care of... but long hair is just so pretty, especially yours. I don't think I'd be brave enough to go for more than a trim." To be honest, Mariel was quite obsessed with her hair and couldn't imagine cutting it short. She hoped that Nia would come to her senses being blessed with such beatiful hair as well. "Of course, if you wanted to give the pixie look a try, there is hair regrowing potion... I think Madame Primpernelle's sells it. So if you decide you didn't like it after all, you could always take that, but I heard it tastes awful."
She nodded in understanding as Nia explained her lack of game attendance. "I guess that would be too hard to take him to games... Too bad you couldn't go on your own." That gave Mariel an idea. "Maybe next summer a bunch of us should get together and go to some games... We'll be nearly 16 then and that's almost of age. Surely our parents couldn't say no." She was certain that would be alright with her own father, surely her friends could go too. "Oh, I got the newest Silver Arrow. Marco says that's best for Seekers..." she trailed off, looking down slightly. "I bet they're good for Chasers too. They're really fast and light, he says."
Before she could say anything more on the subject, a few winged cookies flew down the table, one landing directly in front of her. Mariel looked around for the source of the flying cookies, eyes landing on a woman obviously competing with Professor Bunbury to see who could overdose on the most pink. Staring at her retreating figure for a moment, Mariel turned back around and mirrored Nia's movements, pushing the now-wingless cookie aside. After the poo incident at the table, her appetite had completely disappeared.
Eating another mouthful of mash, Nia nodded. "Sure, I'd love to," she replied with a smile. A bit of extra work would keep her on the good side of Kazimeriz, right? And she'd found last year she'd started to enjoy potions more - making a hair potion would be a good reason to practice. Tilting her head, Nia wondered if they could make anything else. "Would it be possible to, you know, experiment a bit too? Bet that'd go down well for a bit of extra credit." Her eyes twinkled. "Like make a hair potion that changes your hair colour - that'd be awesome for Quidditch matches!" Okay, someone had probably made a hair potion for exactly that reason, but was it available at Hogwarts? Hmm...
She looked doubtful as her friend appeared to study her appearance, before smiling gratefully. "You're right." Mariel had given a good argument, and that was enough to convince Nia for now. "Perhaps hair that short might be a bit grown up too. And I can do way more things with my hair with it long - I do love it French plaited back." She ran her fingers through it, as if assuring herself. "Eurgh - I think I'll stick with it natural then," Nia said with a laugh, grimacing with the thought of a horrid tasting potion. "Though maybe if I wanted to check I could try a specific disillusionment charm, to cover the bit I thought about having cut off. To get the idea of face shape if I want to have it done in the future."
"Yeah - especially since Dad usually gets box tickets. Would draw a little too much attention to ourselves I think!" Nia said as they talked about matches. And then Mariel came up with and awesome idea, and a snippet of information she had overheard her Mum say came into her head. "We could do matches followed by a sleepover..." she started, excited by the idea of going to matches with her friends and sure it would be fine with her parents, "Or, I'm sure I heard Mum say that the World Cup is coming to England next year." She looked sneaky. "She works at the Ministry in the Sports Department," she explained softly. "That'd be an awesome trip."
"A Silver Arrow?" Nia asked, her eyes lighting up. "Nice! Have you tried it out yet? Ah, you'll be awesome on it - uncatchable!" It was then Nia noticed that look. "You alright? You don't seem as, well, excited about it as I thought you'd be." She frowned, worried. "You are trying out this year, right?"

Listening to him explain about his rubber chicken made the smile on her face grow ten fold. "If you don't mind my asking...what happened to the other eight?" Okay so it wasn't the smile at the top of her mind but Lasca was sure it wasn't the right time.
And then a large squeak made Nia jump. Trying to work out where it had come from, she eyed an slightly odd looking boy that seemed to have joined on the other side of Lasca. And she couldn't help but laugh as Lasca voiced the words she had been thinking. What indeed could happen to so many chickens? Rubber chickens at that.
"And why named Henry?" she found herself asking, remembering a bit of muggle history at the same time.

And as she waited for the boys' answer, something else weird happened. The voice of Professor Kazimeriz was explaining punishment...in the form of dancing? Nia frowned, she really had been caught up in her own Ravenclaw world during the feast. Nonetheless, she decided to watch the, ahem, show.
"I ... don't think so." Sylvia wasn't sure if she didn't know the girl or she had just forgotten her. If it was the latter, Sylvia would be a puddle of embarassment right nao. But when the girl had said around about the same, she breathed a sigh of relief. "Nice to meet you." Sylvia peered around Samson to see Sabrina. "I'm Sylvia." She wondered if Sabrina already knew that.
Sylvia took a glance at the food, she didn't really fancy eating infront of them, only because she would look like a greedy pig and she was most certainly not that at all. "I'm good. I'm just waiting for desert." MMM, yummeh desert.
"You think? Aaah, so not for definite." All Sylvia knew was that it was 'love problems', but that was rather vague. She giggled at Sabrina. Only moments a go, Sylvia thought Samson was a lady's man, but it was just his step-sister. FAAAIL. She wouldn't tell them that, they#d think it be weird.
"Uuuh ... Kind of." Sylvia's head leant on her palm which was keeping her head up right. "The situation has now, changed...." Xander had a crush on someone and she knew it wasn't her. RAWWWR.

"Yeah, yeah, you hate meat. I get it." He'd get back at her on that later. Right now, he was too concentrated on the cookie. He grabbed said cookie from Sabrina's plate, and munched on it like his first cookie. Well, she'd already said she didn't want it. Heh.
Then he turned from Sabrina to Sylvia, and back again. "Well, get acquainted," he said with a shrug, and as they did so, he just continued eating. So, it was rather wrong that he ate dessert and his meal at the same time, but he didn't mind at the moment. It was as though the cookies would spoil any minute. He rather liked these cookies, even when he didn't normally eat them.
.... "Oy! I'm not an idiot," he mumbled between mouthfuls. Then he turned to Sylvia and cocked an eyebrow at her as he swallowed. "Really? Situation? How so? You know, in the first place, I never really got to know what your problem was."
Oh, so now he cared about these things? He was worse than a girl who liked gossip. He was a guy who liked gossip. EW.
"Nice to meet you too, Sylvia." Eh? Dessert?! YUMMMMMMM! "Yes, I want dessert already."
Giggle.
Sabrina couldn't help it! Really, just watching Samson speak while munching on the cookie made her laugh. "You are an idiot." She informed him, although he should know by now that it was meant affectionately. "But you are my idiot brother, so it's okay." Well, her's and Carla's, but Carla wasn't here. She patted his hand and then turned back to eating her veggies.
The blonde's head snapped up, however, when she heard Professor Kazimeriz announce Willie and Cam were going to - SPLURT! What? O_________O
Well, they totally deserved it for throwing dung around the table when people were EATING.
AHAHAHHAAHA!
The blonde pressed her lips together, holding back laughter, and watched Willie and Cameron's improvised dance with her hands in her ears so she wouldn't have to listen to them sing. Urgh. Their singing was terrible.
Tibi watched in horror as the scene at the staff table unfolded. He recognized what was happening... it happened to him all the time. The teachers were BULLYING the boys as punishment.
Dropping his cookie, he began to clap frantically. The students apparently had to clap to get the show to stop.
Tibi looked around the table and really didn't see anyone else clapping. He smacked his hands together even harder and began to urge others to do the same.
"Listen," he said to everyone around him, "I know Willie and that other boy did bad things tonight, but... but THAT" he pointed to the staff table, "is mean and wrong." Tibi clapped all the harder and hoped others would do the same.

I don't know if it's jealousy or something. I just... I don't know. But I don't want you to forgive me because you miss me and you think you don't have any other choice but to ignore what I did. But I want you to forgive me because you actually want and because you actually can.
"I don't know if that's how you feel right now.... but... I want to continue this friendship. And the only way to do that is to start all over again," Livvy finished, her lips curved into a small frown and her eyes darting from left to right.
Rachel sighed. She had been expecting Livvy to react like this, and had dreaded it. For how was she supposed to reply? The truth would most likely push Livvy away from her, and if Rachel lied - Livvy would know. It's what is known as the unfortunate lost-lose situation.
"But that's what I don't get - jealousy? Since when were you ever jealous of anyone? I know you Livs; it's not like you. It's also not like you to go and break up a couple just because you don't like one half of it," Rachel couldn't stop herself, and regretted her words as soon as she had said them. Why was she doing this? WHY had she even approached her in the first place?
Ahh yes. Of course. She MISSED her. Dangnabbit.
Taking a deep breath to calm herself down, she listened intently to the rest of Livvy's little speech and couldn't help but crack a small smile at the last part. "All over? All right - hi, I'm Rachel Rider. Who're you?" she asked sarcastically, looking at Livvy with a questioning look and a slight grin.
But then, Rachel's own stupid brain had to go answer Livvy's question for her. "Hi, I'm Olivia Zhang and I've been known to break, stomp on and betray my friends's hearts." Ugh. This wasn't going anywhere.
"Look, I can't forgive you now. There are too many things caught up in this for me to be able to do that now but I just want you to know that I'm not ready to give up on us either," Rachel said in a low, steady voice - fighting with herself not to think of a certain other person to whom she'd be forced to say these words too.
No, no. HE could wait a bit. Certainly, he could wait until she looked presentable again. And plus, she couldn't face him without knowing that Livvy supported her this time. That would just be an extremely stupid thing to-

Rachel's eyes widened as Crocker and Cameron began dancing and singing to the song and her lips twitched. Their performance was... It was...
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!" Rachel literally BURST out laughing, clutching her sides as she watched the two boys perform. Horrible singing, abominable dancing and hilarious costumes were apparently exxactly what she needed to feel better.
"How's that... For... A punishment?" she asked Livvy in between fits of hysterical laughter. She was literally seconds away from dropping to the floor and rolling around. She felt hot tears roll down her face and laughed - if that was possible - even harder. This was just WAY to weird an evening.
She felt slightly insane as she watched the scene unfold. It was like all the emotions that she had swallowed in the summer were coming back up again, but in the form of laughter and not crying. She heard as well as saw all the horrified gazes of the younger students but couldn't really bring herself to sober up and act her age.
This was just too hilarious and had too good a timing for her to be able to stop.

Matheu was excited to be in Hogwarts. After hearing the grand speech from the Headmaster and the Sorting Hat's song, AND being sorted, nothing could compare.
The Headmaster brought great amounts of food from no where! Matheu was so hungry at this point. He took his plate and started gathering everything that look appealing.
As Tyler looked across the Ravenclaw Table at his other members, he noticed something particularly strange: he knew somebody. "Matheu!", Tyler called, but apparently Matheu was really enjoying his food: he seemed to be devouring anything that materialized in front of him. "I've got all year to meet up with him", Tyler thought as he too began to devour anything in front of him.

She felt it wrong to comment/insult people when she barely knew them, she would wait until a few weeks, then she'd insult him. BWAHA. And, it was nice that Sylvia had made another girl friend. She'd always found it easier to befriend boys, but a girl was nice every once in a while.
Sylvia knew she wasn't going to be able to avoid this question, though she really was planning to give it a go. "... I know, I was trying to complain at you, without actually telling you why I was complaining." She giggled. Sylvia wondered if she should tell him, was it really any of his business? Hmmm, she had moped around all up in his space. But she wasn't sure. "It was just something about this ... friend." Sylvia shrugged, that was as far as she was taking it. "What about you? All you said was 'love'."
Sylvia clasped her hand over her mouth as she heard at what this Professor had said. "Yes, they have ruined my first impressions of this school." She smirked, they hadn't. But she LOVED public humiliation ... when it wasn't her, of course.
Right as he spoke up to Satine, it looked like Professor Kazi had an announcement.

"YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE! Before we call the feast to a close, we have a bit of special entertainment for you tonight. Third years Hufflepuff Willie Crocker and his co-hort, Slytherin Cameron Karsten, have behaved most reprehensibly tonight.
He stepped back, standing by Max.
Aaron stood there in shock. What did they do??? And did he say SLYTHERIN??? Aaron looked up at the hourglass to see Slytherin in the negatives. "Crap!" Oh well. This is going to be hilarious.

Mina nodded as she turned her attention from the staff table. "Yes, I'm a first year. How about you?" she asked before glancing back at the two boys. This was really a sight to be had and if this was what she had to look forward to, she would definitely have to owl father and thank him for 'convincing' mother to allow her to attend Hogwarts. Silly boys she thought to herself as she noticed a few people clapping. Considering the whole student body held the boys fate in their hands, or so it was implied, she started to clap lightly.

Iris looked to where Aaron was pointing ... Negatives?! What the - She looked over to the two students ... Ah ... Well this performance wouldn't have been the only punishment... As she watched them dance, and sing ... it seemed like they had no choice but to sing ... it was like they were under some speelllll ...
Well they probably are.
What are you doing here? What are you doing at this table
Satine. Duh. But Evan -
-Evan what? - -Wants to steal your bag.
Does not. does.
Go. Away. Now. Nooope. I wanna watch those to fools.
Iris sighed at her seemingly consistant mental wars and turned back to the Professors and the two people ... "Those two professors are practically bullying him! Thats not exactly fair, is it? ... Why couldn't they just get a detention or something? ..." Iris was more speaking her thoughts out loud here than speaking to anyone else.
Samuel looked up. The professor seemed to have an announcement.

Aaron looked at iris' face of shock as she realized the snakes where in the negatives. he shrugged at her and continued to watch the 'performance' per say.
Aaron id too think this was cruel punishment, but then responded to Iris' thinking out load. "I'm sure they ARE going to get detentions. Or, we decide if we do, rather."
Aaron looked at Iris' face of shock as she realized the snakes were in the negatives.
Timothy sat back quiet and alone as he waited for the dancing and singing to begin. What where those kids thinking? Disgusting, Timothy ate in silence wishing someone would say something to him....
I am pathetic! just get up and say something.
Timothy looked around at the general hubbub commencing over the tables, and thought that it was better to eat by himself then to embarrass himself by talking.

Mina shook her head and once again turned her attention back to table she was sitting at. She noticed a boy not far from her looking around. This is your chance to be friendly, she thought to herself as she waved to him.

"This is crazy, isn't it?" he said to the boy.
"Yes it is very crazy, so is this how it is at Hogwarts? When you do evil, all you have to do is sing and dance? back in Russia they would have been whipped, and it would have been for the best, plus it would have taught them a better lesson on respect...."
Timothy sat up straight, and looked at the other older boy, "where are you from? I am from Russia as you can probably tell from the accent..."

Tavelon approached the table and noticed his friend Tim there. "Hey Tim! How's it going?" he asked. "Mind if I sit down?"
Truth be told, Tavelon wished it was the Ravenclaw table he could always be eating at. Hufflpuff was just... bland.
James stored over to the ravenclaw table, he was feeling confident as usual, he was'nt cocky as such but being braught up in a pure blood house, where you get who amazing you are drilled into you, it also helps that he has the black good looks, tall dark and handsome, he new he looked good and did'nt care if people tought he was pompouse, he sat down at the table seeing peoples head turn he felt a worm happy feeling.
Lasca smiled and lighly hugged Mariel. She knew that few people would or could understand what she was going through with he Step Monster, and Mariel without a doubt would. Nodding her head she felt appreciation for her BF rise considerably. She glanced over at Ali for a moment to assess how the younger girl was doing. When she was sure she was alright she turned back around in time to catch Mariel's hesitation for the Quidditch conversation.
Narrowing her eyes, she took in her quick look and easy quick change of subject and her suspicions grew. Pointing a finger at her best friend she said, "There's something wrong your not telling. You will spill missy. Sooner or later." Lasca gave Mariel and wink and a smile. She loved her best friend and what ever was bothering her she didn't want to talk about it right now. This was just making sure Mariel knew that she was here if she needed someone to talk to. Merlin knew she had done enough of unloading on her best friends for three lifetimes.
Turning back to Sarah she hoped Ryder wasn't cowed by the close scruitny of three girls. She had to giggle at their present situation and for the umpteenth time was thanking whatever magic being was in charge upstairs that she was back at Hogwarts.
Mariel smiled with compassion at Lasca. She knew her friend had such a difficult time over the summer, but at least she was back among friends now where her family troubles could be put out of mind - hopefully.
Her diverted eyes quickly glanced back at Lasca in time to see her critical expression. Mariel's face fell slightly at her accusation. She knew she couldn't get that past her best friend, but she wasn't in the mood to discuss anything. Giving her a very small, reluctant smile, she nodded and said, "We'll talk later." Maybe.
Her questioning green eyes then looked back up at Lasca who had begun giggling. Looking in the direction her fellow fourth year had been looking, Mariel chuckled slightly as well, thankful for another distraction. "I'm sure he's enjoying our critique," she told Lasca in a low voice as she leaned closer. But from what she heard about him from Sarah, she was sure Ryder would take it all in stride.

Wait....the didn't do Quidditch? But then her questioning was anwsered. Oh yeah. She had forgotten Sarah's parents were muggles. It always seemed to slip her mind. Sarah just acted so....normal! She listened intently as Mariel started explaining some of the things they did. Wow...some of the muggle things sounded like.....FUN! "So you did Bowling....and Rollerblading?"she asked, her voice full of excitement. "Oh it sounds so fun! I mean, going around with wheels on your shoes-"she giggled suddenly, trying to picture Mariel falling. "You fell a lot? Is it really hard? Do you think I could try it sometime? It sounds so fun! ....Besides the fact that you fall. I hate falling....but I'm willing to do it for fun!" Nod nod.
She almost went to Durmstrang? Gasp!! "You were about to go to...that school? Oh wow. Of coarse, I would have been sent either to there, or to the Frenchie school of DOOOOM!" Yeah it was doom to Jenn....for all her sister's went there, and well....look at them. To girlish for her. ....Why was she looking at her like that? Couldn't people just believe that she had, infact, ran away from home? It seemed like people could believe it as much as they believed Pygmy Puffs could fly. "Yes, I did infact, run away. I've been living with my brother Frin and his wife, and my cousin Dree. Sometimes Devon, my other brother, and I go to Diagon Alley and stay there though." That's right! She had ran away! And she was...um....semi-proud of it.
Blink, blink. Twitch, twitch. What?! Did they think she wasn't fat enough already? What was with the random flying cookie? She eyed her's, then picked it up, looking it over. "IT"S POISONED I TELL YOU!"she cried, throwing it down, looking very shocked. "And to think I thought teachers were NICE!"she eyed the tossed cookie, then glared at it, almost thinking that if she scared it enough it would hop away.
Mariel's lips curled into a smile as she tried to suppress the giggles wanting to escape at Jenn's excitement over her Muggle fun. "Mhm." She nodded her agreement. "Yeah, it was a lot of fun. Muggles have some pretty strange ideas sometimes, but they often turn out to be fun." She never would have thought a couple years ago that she'd ever be doing something like rollerblading, but she had to admit that once she got the hang of it that it was one of her favorite activities at Sarah's house. "Well... it is hard at first, at least till you get used to it... but yeah, you should definitely try it. I bet you'd have a lot of fun." She lowered her voice to an almost whisper. "You could always try a cushioning charm. I couldn't do one cuz of the Trace and on account of there being no adult wizards where Sarah lives." Otherwise she would have done it, not usually one to worry about theunderage magic law.
Mariel nodded solemnly at the mention of the foreign school. "Yeah... I was supposed to..." she trailed off then nodded, not surprised that Jenn would have gone there as well, knowing that her parents had similar view as her father. "Well, that's nice that you have such a big, supportive family to let you stay with them..." Mariel did not have that luxury.
The fourth year's eyes widened in surprise over Jenn's exclamation over the winged cookie. While Mariel had just pushed hers aside, her friend flipped out on the sight of it. "Uh, relax Jenn," she said tentatively, giving the girl an odd look as she tossed her cookie. "It's just a cookie." Really, what was there to be suspicious about?

"Though I get arm ache if I play too many games in a row, and it wrecks my thumb nails." She chuckled. "And I'm with you on the rollerblading," she added, noting Mariel's look, "It's so hard to master. I had so many bruises when I learnt as a kid. And I'm still rather rubbish. Don't know how some kids can do big tricks off ramps on them."
Mariel leaned forward as Nia seemed to be an expert on the Muggle games. "Really? You play those games too?" she asked with some surprise. "But you're not Muggleborn..." Mariel was a little confused, then nodded to herself as she remembered that Nia told her about a Muggleborn in her family. That would explain the exposure as Mariel had never had the opportunity to play those sorts of games. "Well, they are fun, though, right? That was my first time, so I was really quite rubbish myself, but I had a good time anyway." She thought for a moment at Nia's words. "There are tricks?" She hadn't seen any of that. That could be interesting.
The 4th year returned Nia's smile as she agreed to help her in the potions lab. "Oh, I think that's a great idea," she said in response to the experimenting comment. "That's how my mum came up with a lot of her potions... experimenting. And I'm sure Kazimeriz would be impressed," she added, with a hint of pride coloring her voice. "That would be cool," she started with a smile that slowly faded as she thought about the permanence. "As long as we can get it to change back." She absentmindedly tugged on a lock of her hair. She looked back up at Nia and smiled, glad that her feelings hadn't been hurt that she thought she should keep her hair long. "Ooooh, a disillusionment charm is a good idea. I hadn't thought of that." And her mind began to wander at the thought of using that to try out all sorts of different hairstyles before actually commiting to anything.
Her eyes focused on a point in the distance as she thought, then they snapped back to Nia as she talked of a sleepover. "Oh! That would be fun!" she said, clapping her hands together once in excitement. "As long as it's girls only though... and we could stay up all night... and do each other's hair..." Her mind began to drift again when Nia mentioned the World Cup. "Oh, I had forgotten all about that... Is it really?" She had far too much on her mind the past summer that she hadn't even been thinking about where the next World Cup would be held. If it was so close to home, she couldn't possibly miss it. "Well, we simply must go there, then." She nodded to herself in confirmation as it was now settled in her mind.
Mariel nodded at mention of her broom. "Yeah... it flies really nice..." she trailed off vaguely. "I hope so," she said with a small smile, though she wasn't sure that would be happening anytime soon. And of course Nia noticed her hesitation. Her friends knew her too well to know something was up. "I'm okay..." she answered, trying to smile. "I'm, uh, not sure..." she started to answer about tryouts at the same time Nia turned her head in Lasca's direction. Mariel looked distractedly over as well to see her talking to a boy with a rubber chicken. But before she could really see what that was all about, the loud voice of Professor Kazimeriz caught her attention.
She listened intently with eyebrows raised. The names didn't sound familiar to her but... song and dance? Mariel threw Nia an incredulous look before turning back to the Staff Table. Ohhh, it was the two boys who had caused so much destruction and chaos with their buckets of poo - not to mention destroy her appetite. She leaned back in her chair as the music started, smirk plastered on her face as the show began. Mariel began to giggle at the antics of the two. How humiliating for them! But they deserved it.
