Potions Class One As you enter the dank, dark cave of a potions classroom, the first thing you might notice is the smell. A thousand different scents, good and bad, mingle together in the moist, rich air of the musty dungeon room. The room is gloomy: the lighting is dim, mostly from wall sconces where candles flicker but also from small flames under a series of cauldrons which are simmering at the back of the room. There are rows of workstations with two stools at each station. A thousand and three jars, canisters, and containers of potions ingredients line the shelves along the walls, gleaming dully in the low light. Each is labelled in the Professor's shaky old man's script, and at the back of the room are shelves groaning under the weight of huge potions encyclopedias and texts. At the front of the classroom, a large charmed chalkboard stands. On it are written these simple instructions: Quote:
The professor has entered the room. A brief discussion about the Cardinal Rule of Potions (Know thy Ingredients) has taken place. A Worksheet has been distributed; students have been instructed to write equal and opposite ingredient pairs on this worksheet to familiarize themselves with complementary ingredients to understand the concept of negators, or neutralizing ingredients. A brief discussion about Golpalott's FIRST law was introduced: for every ingredient, there is at least one equal and opposite ingredient that can be used as an antidote to the first ingredient. This led to a discussion on Golpalott's Third Rule: the antidote for a blended poison will be equal to more than the sum of the antidotes for each of the separate components. The class was informed that they have all been poisoned by means of a potion that absorbs through skin contact. Their goal? To identify their symptoms and brew the antidote to their poison by the end of class. Instructions can be found here. Feel free to jump in at any point! :) |
Lexi entered the Potions Classroom a bit reluctantly. She was the first to arrive and the dungeons completely freaked her out. She plopped down at a table after dragging her cauldron in. Taking out the rest of her equipment she waited patiently for someone to come in that could help her set the stuff up. |
The air reeked of smells both good and bad and they had hit Becca's nose like a diver hitting water-with a splash! She enjoyed some, and others made her want to throw up- which took a lot. The candlelight flickered and contrasted against the dark-colored cauldrons as Becca walked by the professor's desk. She got settled, pushing her books off the table and onto the floor and sat down. On the board, she quickly read the Professor's note and got to work setting up her station. She was the second one there, suprizingly enough, so once she had finished, she sat down and marveled at the many jars and containers, lining the walls of the dungeon, sitting daintily among shelves. She wondered how the unrecognizable ones were used and then shifted her attention to the empty seat next to her. She wondered who her partner would be. Could be anyone, who knows? |
Jack walked into the potions classroom and found it looking exactly as he expected it--dark and drabby. Blehhhh. Potions was interesting, but when your teacher could possibly be a vampire, it tended to bring down the mood just a bit. He walked over to his usual station near the back of the room and began to set up his equipment, yawning every once in a while. Hmmmm--he wondered what they would be learning about today. Hopefully a really COOL potion! |
Woo Hoo Potions! This was one of the classes Rafe had been looking forward to all year. After going to the Apothecary in Diagon Alley he was a bit overwhelmed, but now he was anxious to get started and learn all about potions. Rafe waved at Alexandra and took a seat kind of near the middle. He hoped they'd be mixing something really cool for the first class. |
Herminny made her way down to the dungeons and into the dreary potions classroom. She noticed the writing on the board and quickly prepared her work station for class. |
Ah, Potions. Destiny was giddy with excitement. This was the class she waited for, even if the professor gave her the heebie jeebies. Before Destiny walked into the classroom, she checked to make sure she had brought all the supplies. Yeah, yeah, she had everything. She slowly walked into and stopped at the note on the board. 'Good thing I checked my supplies.' She made her way over to an empty table and realized they might need a partner. Now where was Evelyn? |
HMMmmpotionssssss. See, Cam wasn't afraid of Potions anymore... was he? Well he wasn't 100% sure that he wouldn't cause any explosions today but he guessed he could improve his POTION-eeering skeelzzzz today, right? He entered the room into the casual classroom and stared at the board. Huhhhhh. Work station. Right. RIGHT. He found a table and started setting up his equipments, wondering where Kazimeriz was up to. Cam did NOOOOT like that old man. NUH UH. But there was a part of him, somewhere deeeeep down, where Cam just despised the man so much. And he didn't even know why. Was he crazy? Yes. |
Mina made her way through the dank dungeon and enter the classroom. It wasn't her first visit, but she felt a chill of excitement run down her spine. Potions was after all one of her favorite subjects and she was quite excited for the class itself. Looking around for a place to set up and perhaps a friend, she frowned a little finding only a few students there and none she was really aquired with. Finding a table, she sat down and pulled her things out. After reading the board, she started looking around for an older student to perhaps help her set up. She really didn't want to mess anything up. |

Quickly walking, she set her stuff down and sat down next to Destiny, trying to get used to the smell. Reading the board up front, Evelyn looked around at everyone else and noticed some people already had their things set up. Seeing their stations, Evelyn copied what they did until hers looked like theirs. 'Perfect.' she thought once all done, and now all there was left to do was wait for the class to start, turning and smiling at Destiny before drumming her fingers quietly on the table, keeping herself awake. |
Delana walked into the potions classroom. Trying not to scream, she looked around. "Finally!" She thought to herself, finding an empty table. Potions had always been her favorite subject, but she didn't have the slightest clue how this was going to go... After all, everything she knew, she taught herself. "Set up the workstation?" she didn't know what that meant... she could guess, but guessing wasn't something she liked to do, especially when dealing with potions. Luck never seemed to be on her side. Setting her supplies on the table, she looked around again. "Uh, I'm new.. Can someone help me here?" She asked, loud enough so hopefully everyone, or at least someone, would hear. |
Cedric headed at their Potions classroom which the teacher is someone whom he detest and despise most. He don't know but people hates their professor, and so do Cedric. He therefore conclude, that the man is one of the most disagreeable professor around. But like every people, the old man needs someone that can understand him, someone that can understand his disgusting personality. Honestly and seriously, Potions is one of his weakest subject but at least, he's not afraid of it as he's very sure that he can surpass every confusing problems that they'll face as they enter the Potions classroom. |
Nataly entered the potions classroom, looking around. It was dark and smelly in the dungeon. It was really cold, too. Shivering, Nataly went to take a seat in the middle of the classroom. She read the instructions on the board and frowned. What kind of teacher was that? Then she remembered the WOLF meeting, where Kazimeriz was one of the main werewolf lovers, and an expression of disgust made its way to her face. She started feeling euphoric again, from some strange reason, just like always when werewolves are mentioned around her. With disgust, she started putting all her equipment on the table. |
Wooo, potions! Equipment in hand, Miranda struggled with the door as she made her way to the Potions class. She was a bit nervous, seeing as Kazimeriz was the Professor and well...he was SCARY. Entering the Potion's Classroom, she noticed that Kazimeriz wasn't actually here yet, as she got to a desk where she could see good. Great, then she could ask someone else if the setting up of the equipment went crazy wrong. But, she was a fourth year, she should be able to manage on her own. Right. |

"Hi, do you know how to set this stuff up? Did your Auntie Dora show you?" |
Iris walked into the Potions classroom, not at all happy that she was in one of her least favourite classes on her birthday. She looked around and saw that none of her friends were there. yet. She went to an empty bench and took her cauldron and everything out of her bag, very greatful that she had to carry the cauldron a couple of metres. She looked to the handful of Gryffindors and Ravenclaws who were already here, feeling glad that she wasn't one of them. Carrying a cauldron down 6, 7 flights of stairs and then taking it back UP them? haha. No thanks. |
Ew. That was the only thing that could possibly describe the way Jake was feeling. He had a late onset of flu, was in a terrific bad mood, hadn't slept the night before, was going over many recent events in his mind... and when he DID sleep... Jake was having terrible dreams... and memories... Shudder. PLUS having skipped every potions lesson, he had no idea what he was doing, and after promptly dumping everything he needed at a workstation, Jake sat on a stool and eyed it warily, looking like a total zombie being all ill. "AAAATCHOOO!" |
UGH. The scent from the potions classroom could be smelt from outside, and it really didn't agree with Sylvia's nostrils. Trying to concentrate on other things so it would distract her, she walked into the potions class and went straight to an empty station. She'd never done potions before, and her expectations were high. She thought it would be really difficult, because Miles failed terribly. |

Fyo entered potions in a pretty good mood, arms swinging at his sides. He had his potions equipment with him – always the rule-follower, Fyo – and, as he stepped inside, he decided to set up his workstation, right away. He had missed this class! |

Yes! Potions! Double Yes! Kazi! Kaika walked inside with the widest smile possible, a smile that remained while she got her workstation ready for...er, for whatever they were going to do today, which she had no clue what it was. Of course she didn't, because there was nothing written on the board, and...she needed to calm down a bit...too excited for Potions isn't precisely quite great. She was even liking the darkness of the room. |
What else could make the day perfect? Sitting in a cold freezing dungeon along with da evil Kaziman. What an A plus day! Livvy walked inside the dungeons and whaddya knoooow... it's cold. Though it wasn't too bad, it was still cold and she preferred to keep her booty warm. The professor wasn't here so no need to pretend to be happy to see him. She liked the class. She liked him too. But he was scary. So she both hated and liked him. It was a love/hate relationship. Aww... how nice. The Ravenclaw girl walked over to her workstation and began to set it up, glancing around at the few students that had already arrived. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted that kid that threw a hard one at her during Flying Class. She'd have to get back at him later. In fact, Livvy would enjoy getting back at ALL Gryffindor students right at that moment. She was a sore loser. |
