Abigail finished eating her second slice of cheesecake before starting to explain the concept of house elf’s to Arrick. She doubted it was going to be an easy thing to do. She didn’t understand why he was hearing, at Hogwarts, when he didn’t seem to like the idea of magic. “Well sort of, but there not chefs their house elf’s and cooking is only one part of their job. And just like you and me they have magic –although I think it’s a different tip of magic- and they use their magic to do their job. So all of this food was made using magic.” She really hoped that he didn’t freak out; she didn’t want to find someone and explain that he seemed to have a problem with magic. “So...where are you from? You never did tell me.” She smiled hoping that she could distract him from the previous bit of information she’d give him.

Sarah sat and listened to the conversation of the the two first years across the table from her.She had to admit that it was rather sweet that the girl was trying to explain the finer points of the meal preperation to a distinctly grumpy looking boy.He doesn't look like one that will enjoy magic very much, she mused to herself while drawing patterns with her knife in the leftover gravy on her empty plate.Maybe if he went and met the house elves in the kitchen sometime he might change his mind.Hmmm chicken sandwich......
Shaking her head she looked over at Ryder as he ate, then continued to lay her head on his shoulder. "You know," she began quietly, "you haven't met my friends yet.I think Mariel is beginning to think I'm imagining you...." Laughing she lifted her weary head and glanced over to the table containing her best friend.Where had she gone? She wasn't in the place that Sarah had previously seen her, and it took a few seconds for her to locate her fellow fourth year.Squinting she could just make out the person she was with....."It isn't?" she muttered, hands dropping into her lap. "Lasca! Ryder can you excuse me for a minute? I've just spotted someone I haven't seen for ages, at the Ravenclaw table.Do come over when you've finished here, I can introduce you!" Beaming from ear to ear, Sarah was suddenly in a very good mood.
Spinning in her seat, she lept up and brushed herself down, quickly turning to look at the new Huffies that were across the table from her.Addressing the boy,she gave him her best smile...as if that would work. "Try and keep an open mind about the magic stuff...it really can be fun if you let it be." With a parting grin, she headed off to speak to her friends.

Arrick couldn't believe his ears. Was he supposed to believe a bunch of little people scurried around making food? Well I suppose they need employment the other days of the year they ernt helping Santa make toys, he thought sarcastically. He was sure Abigail was pulling his leg on this one. Why ELVES? Why not people?
She might as well have told him there was a huge factory under the castle that threw ingredients together in a boiler and spat out food. He would believe that over house elves. Quote: “So...where are you from? You never did tell me.” She smiled hoping that she could distract him from the previous bit of information she’d give him.
"Strathfoyle," he said grudgingly, remembering the dodgy old codger who showed up and turned his passibly normal life upside down. Oh, if he ever did learn all this 'magic', it would be to turn that codger into a toad.

I was happy that Dominic had at least smiled back.
Sara did sit by me and I was so happy to have made a friend. "I am glad to meet you. Having a friend for the next seven year will be great. Maybe we can do our home work together." I said. See How everyone was talking to Sara I hope they would be my friend too.
"Being a first year isn't going to that bad after all." I said to Sara.

"One or two...maybe three," Ari replied, with a shrug as if it didn't matter. He liked teasing girls, not his fault when they start wanting to go out with him and he wasn't interested. "Find a boyfriend over the summer?" He asked, in a casual type way like he wasn't interested in her. Rhea rolled her eyes as Aries took the seat next to her. He looked so adorable leaning on his hands like that. She looked into her pumpkin juice not wanting to stare at him. She didn't want him getting any ideas of her liking him or anything. The last thing she wanted was him having that over her.
"No one is paying me to be nice Ari so I don't have to. At least not to you."
She looked up from the pumpkin juice as he answered her question. She wasn't serious about it, but clearly he was. That's it. Aries Darkk was officially an even bigger pratt in her eyes.
"Wow, you're a pratt, you know that?"

"Please don't go, Kaika.. Please" He muttered, glancing at her wistfully. He knows that it isn't that impossible, Kaika can work at Hogwarts, maybe an assistant to Professor Vindictus. Kaika's face held half a smile, "Glad to hear that" she nodded. Tryouts, yeah, those were coming soon, and since Quidditch Camp took most of her summer, she still has to figure some things out. Perfect. "Awww, that's sweet Cedric" and she couldn't comment more, because thinking about leaving was out of the question now. She still has a full year for letting it affect her. However, his blaming it on the pumpkin juice seemed to cause a bigger fuss than expected - he truly hadn't thought this through when he had used it as his excuse. "Oh.. no! I'm sure we don't need to tell the Professors anything. It's... probably just me... or..."
"WILLIE!" He practically screamed the boys name when he spoke up about Varius' stealing his juice. Thank Merlin he had made such a mistake (because let us face it, who WOULD want to be drinking from Willie Crockers cup?). "See," he tried to laugh the whole thing off and decrease suspicion from the seventh year, "It's all explained now! Willie was trying to get me loopy on something." He was joking of course and laughed to identify this, but he was now concerned with what problems he may face after slurpring on that Crocker concoction - irregular bowel movements, problems breathing, infinite hiccups! Probably all of the above. Oh Lord! Right. Right. Willie's cup.
Hmmmm. She still wasn't buying it, but Willie did mention it was his cup, soooo....
Kaika narrowed her eyes in suspicion, and nodded afterward. Fine. He wanted her to believe the pumpkin-juice story. She'll believe that. No problem.
But the most horrifying thing that could show up at Hogwarts did... Quote:

Sophie Melita, former member of the Ministry-approved Hogwarts staff (potions mistress), former professor at Belle's School for Witches, former unspeakable, former preschool teacher, and most recently, former healer at the Center for Aged and Cursed Wizards, was carrying a HUGE basket of cookies that looked as if she would tip over from the weight of it if it hadn't been charmed to be light (though why she hadn't just charmed a smaller basket to have an unending bottom, one can only conjecture that she just like things big). Each cookie was graced with a pair of wings, which explained the flock of cookies fluttering over her head.
She beamed at everyone as the door shut behind her and then she started skipping (with her flock of cookies still encircling her head) down past the Hufflepuffs, tossing cookies toward the table which fluttered onto each plate. Sophie declared in her high pitched, talking to a baby, voice, over and over, as she went. *insert SCREAM here* WHAT WAS SHE DOING IN HERE?! And he was just starting to settle down and believe he could stand all this oddity. JUST.
Arrick stared as the winged cookies flew everywhere. As one of the innocent little cookies zipped over to him, he reacted out of instinct. With an almost feral snarl, he grabbed the plate with a few remnants of mashed potato and gravy and swiped at the cookie, slamming it down on the poor enchanted thing with a loud THUD and CRUNCH. Little flecks of potato and gravy splattered the table, his arms, and his face.
He then proceeded to smash the cookie a few more times with the plate, as if trying to kill a particularly disgusting cockroach. WHAM WHAM WHAM WHAM WHAM.
And for good measure: WHAM WHAM. Tavelon was just moving back towards his plate when a large glop of mashed potatoes flew his way. He looked at Arrick, a little perturbed, who was smashing a cookie with his plate, which was still laden with dinner. "You're supposed to eat them, I think." Arrick was a very interesting person... but Tavelon made a mental note not to sit to close to him at mealtimes. Quote:

Abigail watched as Arrick scrutinised the cookie as if it would attack him. She jumped in shock as he started to attack the cookie instead, before crumbling in laughter. “Hahaha...that’s...hahaha...so...hahaha...funny... hahahahaha” she began to breathe deeply trying to get back into controlee.
She was a bit embarrassed as she was sure she’d snorted at least twice. “I think that’s the best thing you could have done to that cookie, who knows what could be in them. You might have ended up as pink as her!” Abigail nodded her head. “Oh and you can use the napkin on you face as well by the way.” Tavelon chuckled, and once the laughing ceased he continued "I'm from Surrey. Definitely happy to be here... but still a little... um... bemused, shall we say." he said, looking over at Arrick, sitting in triumph over the conquered cookie. "How about yourself? Are you enjoying it so far?"

He glanced around the hall, in hope of sighting some of his friends. Dominic nodded when the third year congratulated him again. "Thanks, Cedric." But his expression changed, including eyes narrowing slightly when an unmentionable was brought up. UGH! Why'd he have to go and ruin a good moment by bringing her up. Seriously, sometimes Cedric could be SOO daft, it wasn't even funny. "Mmhm, yup." He just agreed, trying to think of a topic change. His description was pretty accurate though; dramas, classy, bossy. Summed Evolette McKenna up pretty nicely. But him and HER - nice couple?!? Never. Not in a million years. "So um... How about them treacle tarts?" Yes. Nice safe topic, right? Maybe. Quote:

Have fun? Depends on what you make of it; at least that's what Dominic figured. So far his three years at Hogwarts hadn't been that terrible, which was different from what he expected. But why people asking him what Hufflepuff was like? Oh right, because neither Kaika nor Tammy seemed to be much in a talking mood. Nor was he, but someone needed to handle the new badgers. "Hufflepuff ... It's great," Dom finally answered. "Yes, it's great. The people here are very friendly and hardworking. And I think, if you find the right niche, then you'll have a good time. Like for instance ... you trying out for quidditch?" He asked in curiosity, because quidditch was one of the ways he found to have fun. Quote:

Or maybe he hadn't eaten any lemon drops for some time. "Cheers!" she cloinked his goblet. Dominic blinked when the next thing he knew, Miranda was clinking his goblet and mentioning 'cheers'. For what? The sixteen year old honestly had NO idea.
Bewildered as he was though, he wasn't going to not reciprocate. Which is what he did as he clinked Miranda's goblet, nodding his head in agreement and then taking a sip of pumpkin juice. "Looking forward to quidditch?" he asked her casually, trying to make some conversation. "What's the Headmaster mean by werewolves and makin' the place extra safe? Did one go loose?"
Moreover, what are these werewolves like?
Dominic looked down the table a bit when the first year Arrick startled him about a question on werewolves. Again, questions that he should know the answer to (since he was here last term), but only vague answers... "Um. I think, well it's nothing bad, but last term we had an assembly on werewolves because one of our Professors is a werewolf. And her cage wasn't latched properly or something. Anyway, she got out and the Headmaster heroically stepped in front of the students to save them, but unfortunately he was bit. So I think it has to do with that.... and I guess safety measures he worked out with the Minister of Magic to ensure we'd be safe with his return this year." Quote:

And just after his ramblings on filling in the first year boy about the werewolf assembly, in walked some very PINK witch, who talked very childish. Cooing in a high pitched voice that rather hurt his ears. Dominic frowned at her apparel, especially with her tossing cookies every which way.
Who was she anyway? Apparently she was a staff member, but WHAT was she teaching? And WHY would Headmaster Bontecou hire her? She seemed pretty mentally unstable to him. Quote:

Watching him introduce himself to the girl near them, she closed her eyes briefly, and began to fiddle nervously with her badge. Simple things, simple simple simple. And she couldnt manage it.
HOW was she going to graduate like this? HOW was she going to get through the year like this?
Giving a little breath, Tammy gained a tiddly bit of confidence and raised her hand as if to say hello and then smiled. Before taking another inhale, of about all of the air, the whole Hall needed to survive. But it gave her ableness to speak. "Tammy Wood." Another, light smile. Too tall? They weren't that tall, but Dominic couldn't really say that. Not when many of them were probably taller than Tammy, a seventeen year old. So what was he supposed to say to that anyway? Something to comfort her, undoubtedly. "Maybe so, but you don't have to use being short to a disadvantage. Use it to your advantage, of course." Like use your vocal cords? Something told Dominic that he was sure Tammy Wood had more confidence to her than she gave herself credit. If not, then Professor Shackleton never would have made her a prefect. Quote:

Dominic looked over towards his captain in time to see her expression once be all happy and smiley, but the next, she looked like she wanted to run away. It didn't take a genius to figure out the reasoning either: the woman in pink who was passing out cookies.
Which meant, Dominic was right in his suspicions of her being mentally unstable. If Kaika didn't trust the woman either . . . And Kaika was one of the most trusting people ever!
Leaning over to whisper at Kaika, he bit his lower lip for a moment before speaking. "Um.. Who is she?" Because Dominic had no idea but all he knew was that he didn't feel safe AT ALL, while she was nearby.

Tavelon chuckled, and once the laughing ceased he continued "I'm from Surrey. Definitely happy to be here... but still a little... um... bemused, shall we say." he said, looking over at Arrick, sitting in triumph over the conquered cookie. "How about yourself? Are you enjoying it so far?"
Because scowling and rambling constituted enjoyment. Or it might for Arrick, noone may ever know. Quote:

Anyway, she got out and the Headmaster heroically stepped in front of the students to save them, but unfortunately he was bit. So I think it has to do with that.... and I guess safety measures he worked out with the Minister of Magic to ensure we'd be safe with his return this year." "So he's a werewolf too now, ernt he."
Arrick eyed the empty seat of the Headmaster, digesting this information. Seemed kind of odd. If you wanted something locked, you'd lock it up tight. Sounded more and more like sabotage.
"How ernt that bad? Sounds dangerous, it does. Stuff like that happen a lot here?"

Her hair was jet black with narrow strips of white betraying her advancing age where her personality did not.
Once there, the wings disappeared and a seemingly plain chocolate chip cookie was all that was left. "Welcome to Hogwarts!" Sophie declared in her high pitched, talking to a baby, voice, over and over, as she went. Abby turns around to see who's entered the great hall. "I don't believe it! What is she doing here? We already have a potions teacher, so why do we need a second one." A cookie flies over Abby's head and lands on her plate. She picks it up and examines it carefully. [I]I've heard rumors about these cookies. No telling what's Professor Melita's put in them.[I] Abby take a hankerchief out of her pocket. She carefully put the cookie in it. Better have Professor Kazimeriz check it out before I eat any of them. |

He asked in curiosity, because quidditch was one of the ways he found to have fun. Tavelon noticed a boy who kept puffing out his chest with a shiny badge pinned to his lapel. "Um... are you the Head Boy or something?" he asked.

| Penelope had just finished what was possibly one of the best meals she had ever had (although she'd never tell her mum that). She was still marveling at how the food had just appeared right before her eyes and how the platters, bowls, and pitchers never remained empty. Penelope had never seen so much food in her life, and there were so many things she had never seen or heard of before, such as pumpkin juice. After the first taste, Penelope had immediately added this drink to her list of favorites, right next to caramel milkshakes. Deciding to have another cup of the delicious juice, she began filling her cup. As she did, somebody squealed unexpectedly, causing Penelope to jump and spill juice onto the table. Oh no! Penelope thought as she mentally berated herself for her clumsiness. What a great way to make a good impression. With her napkin, she began to mop up as much of the orange-colored liquid as possible, all the while hoping none of it had gotten onto anyone else. Satisfied she had cleaned up the mess as best she could, Penelope drank the juice that had managed to make it into her cup and began to people-watch, something she was fond of doing from time to time. As she continued taking in the sights and sounds of her surroundings, she couldn't help but think ahead to classes. Penelope was looking forward to all of them. Well, maybe not Herbology, she thought. |

She ran her fork over her treacle tart a few times before deciding to go say hello. She stood up, and slowly, and distractedly, walked up to the staf table.

Having been silent for most of the time she was sat there, Peyton had noticed a boy. From what she'd managed to get out of his conversations, Dominic was head boy. Nice. She obviously decided not to talk to him though, she really wasn't feeling up to not being her usual quiet self. She looked down at her plate and played with her food like she'd done for the four years before at the opening feast when everyone had ignored her. She was just quiet little Peyton Wallis.

The site itself was strange but when cookies landed on Ray's plate, he felt that something was wrong. It was then when he noticed that Abby had picked her cookie and hid it.
"You are going to show it to Professor Kazimeriz?" Ray whispered.

Was that... his brother running about the hall covered in... poo?
Garret shook his head and turned back to the table. Eyes on the food. Eyes on the food. What he didn't know, his mum didn't know... and in the end, it didn't hurt, right? Best to just ignore it.
He picked up his fork and started playing with the food on his plate. Man, if only he could obliviate his mum about the whole OWL thing, cos she had given him a lecture to blister his ears before he left London earlier that day.

Why not people?
She might as well have told him there was a huge factory under the castle that threw ingredients together in a boiler and spat out food. He would believe that over house elves.
"Strathfoyle," he said grudgingly, remembering the dodgy old codger who showed up and turned his passibly normal life upside down. Oh, if he ever did learn all this 'magic', it would be to turn that codger into a toad.
Looking at the shock clearly written on Arrick’s face Abigail had to try very hard to keep from laughing. She had a funny feeling that he wouldn’t believe her, but she’d just have to find the kitchens and so as he could see for his own eye’s. ‘Might not be a good idea though he could stop eating.’
She wasn’t sure where Strathfoyle was but she thought it might be in Northern Ireland. “Is that all I’m going to get out of you? Or are you going to tell me at least a little bit more about yourself?” Quote:

But I really DON’T want to learn how to fly, I’m dreading that. What about you?” She finally turned her attention back to the girl a glass of water safely in her hands and not all over everyone ells. Really needed to start thinking before she opened her mouth. “So...yea all the Hufflepuffs I’ve met so far seem really nice.” She nodded smiling slightly. “Do you know why Tammy seems a bit on the scared side?” |

The Ravenclaws were driving Sabrina insane. Truly. There were people yelling and screaming and throwing poo around the place. And then there was Issy, who was basically ignoring her and Samson who was being all gloomy and depressed because of his stupid stunt on the train where he told Issy to go away.
Well, he deserved it, in her opinion.
So the blonde had decided to ignore her house table and go join the Hufflepuffs. At least she knew one nice person there, whom she happened to meet on the train, although, admittedly, he wore rainbow coloured boxers (she did NOT mean to see it, they were basically glaring at her in the face when he was pulling his pants up) and was so hyper he needed calming draughts. TWICE a day.
Oh, there he was!
As usual, the short Ravenclaw seventh year failed to notice important things - like cookies in the hands of Jake Upstead. She strolled over and sat down next to Garret (whom she had once seen talk to Samson waaaaaay back in her ... err ... third year? Yes, that was it) and in front of Jake. "Hai Ja- COOKIES?!" She stared at the cookies he seemed to be guarding. He was going to eat them, wasn't he?
...
Their conversation in the train ran through her head once and her eyes darted between the cookies and Jake. Then, without warning, the blonde streched her hands and pulled the platter full of cookies towards her with so much haste, that her elbow hit Garret, but she eyed Jake. "No cookies for you."
Or someone'll have to take him to the nurse. |

Still guarding his cookies like they were his own precious children... children that he planned to eat... Jake twirled the spoon around his fingers and grinned an evil grin.
But his face fell when the boy eyed *dramatic pause* Willie's older brother. DUN, DUN, DUUUUUUUUUUUUN!
Blinking in sudden surprise, Jake dropped the spoon so it made a loud clatter, and began iiiiinching away from the boy who just MUST be an older version of that third-year. Quote:

...
WRONG!
Without his spoon, Jake was defenceless, and his stormy expression quickly went to pitiful. "Heyyyyy!" he whined, looking wistfully at the cookies. "Them are mine..." he trailed off, feeling his bottom lip quiver. If the sad look didn't work, Jake always had spoons nearby. No cookies for you.
Okay, yes... why did that make Jake feel like a disobedient 4-year-old?

"Oy!" Garret exclaimed as an elbow hit him and a smaller Hufflepuff started howling at them. He shot one seething look at the boy to get him to shut up before reaching for one of the cookies himself, "If you're gonna hit me and take food from m'table, you're gonna hafta share."
He bit into a cookie. Much better... he'd not had any appetite for the food at the table.
