HoM BASIC Lesson 1 (1st-4th years) Ethan had found the previous term that he didn't much mind having classes in the observatory. The cushions were comfortable and it was best for the students to be comfortable after all. As such, there were no desks today, just a huge pile of cushions. He'd moved all the astronomy equipment out of the way too. Ethan himself was leaning against the wall, for once not wearing sunglasses. He was however, particularly well dressed. Valentino today. "Come on in and take a cushion to sit on." Ethan told the students as they started trickling in. "We'll start in just a few minutes." ooc: This class is for 1st-4th years only. If you feel your character is particularly good at History of Magic, you may PM me to ask to switch to the advanced class with the 5th-7th years and on a case by case basis, I'll decide whether or not they can. The following students are now taking ADVANCED History of Magic (and therefore are not to post in this class): Kiri Starstalker, 4th Year (Antarctica!) Raiden Kururugi, 4th Year (Ameh) Nikki Finn, 4th Year (hermione9495) Questions asked in class What do you know about History of Magic? Mirror metaphor; what ensures we keep our world and our magic hidden? Why is the statute necessary? What do the tales of Beedle the Bard tell us about life before the statute was introduced? Statute breaches. Who is responsible for enforcing clause 73 and how Ilfracombe Incident What would happen if trained Obliviators had been present at Ilfracombe. Summarize the lesson so far |
Satine was very excited for the first HOM lesson and even more excited that it had been split so that there was a younger version to focus on. She hoped into the classroom and looked around at the new place. She loved the cushions and went over plopping down on a cushion close to the front. She turned and smiled at the Professor, "Howzit, Professor Truebridge? How was your break? Did you stay out of trouble?" she finished with a wink and her usual smile. She watched as others filed in and hoped to see some of her friends. |
As Jake entered the class, he shot Truebridge a confused look. After his summer, he wasn't as out of breath after climbing the stairs... but meh... WHY were they still up here. "Hey, sir," Jake nodded to the man, before grabbing a cushion and chucking it on the floor in an empty space (there were loads now). "Why are we... you know... up here?" |
Lyra entered the classroom while looking around at the cushions. She found a seat and dropped down. "Hello professor Truebridge had a good summer?" she greeted with a smile and looked at him. He looked different..wait..no sunglasses? Lyra shrugged her shoulders at the thought and started to take out her books for the class when a another thought occured to her. This was the Astronomy tower right? Why were they taking class here? Lyra was just about to ask when she heard a Hufflepuff voicing her question so instead she listened carefully and waited for the professor to reply. |
Tibi trucked up to the observatory, exhausted from his classes and the long climb. Being a Ravenclaw certainly meant a workout.. he'd traveled the entire height of the castle at least three times so far! Entering the classroom, he saw that there weren't desks, but cushions. They certainly looked comfortable. Tibi just hoped he wouldn't fall asleep. Hoisting his bag further up his tiny shoulder, Tibi made his way to a center cushion. "Hello, Professor," he said, as he settled in, taking out some parchment and a quill. Seeing Jake already here, he raised a hand in greating. He hadn't seen him since that day on the train. |
Vilhelmiina entered the Astronomy tower to see a huge pile cushions on the floor and the professor leaning against the wall. She looked at the professor and, with a polite smile on her face, said, "Hello sir. Pleasure to meet you." She then grabbed a cushion and sat against the wall, waiting for class to start. |
Whitney walked into the new History of Magic classroom. 'Cushions?' At least she would be comfortable, right? "Hello professor!" she said with a big smile. Whit was very ready for class this term. She took a seat on the cushion closest to her and waited for class to begin. |
Evelyn walked in and noticed that there weren't any desks, but cushions. 'Cool.' she thought, grabbing a cushion and dragging it across to the back of the room. Sitting down against the wall, she looked around at the students that were filing in and the room itself. |
Damon entered saw that a few students had already entered ahead of him. "Hello Professor" Damon went and sat down |
Herminny chucled hearing the professor say to take a seat on a cushion, she just found it funny to be taking a history class in such a laid back setting, cool. She quickly took a seat on one of the cushions and waited for class to start. |
Emalyn entered the class room / Astronomy tower, taking a look around. "Hey there, Professor." She smiled before picking up a cushion and sitting herself down, crossing her legs and setting her school bag beside her. She had sworn she would stay on top of things this term, that she would try her best. But now she had stupid distractions that were...well, distracting. She folded her hands patiently in her lap and waited, humming a very annoying tune in her head. GIT OUTTA MAH HEAD! |
Ella cautiously took a seat on the wooden desk of the History of Magic classroom. "Evening, professor!" she exclaimed all of a sudden, ready to learn. |
I walked into the room and wonder if any of my friends were in this class. It was a long way from the DADA room I just had class in but I made it before class started. "Hello Professor Truebridge." I said taking a sit. |
Virgi skipped in to the classroom and took a seat. She looked around and saw Ella. Ella somehow loathed Virgi. She knew she loathed her since yesterday, the day Virgi got detention with her boyfriend James and just gave him a hug to say, "Sorry I got you into this mess." She couldn't talk because of her stuck together lips together so she could not talk whatsoever. "Hi Ella, how are you?" Virgi asked. She didn't really want to know. She didn't care either. She just looked at her waiting for an answer, not caring. At least she knew that that Gryffindor was rude. At least this Ravenclaw was polite. |
Patroclus was excited for History, with a renown WizArchaeologist as a father, he had the slightest idea he would be good at the Subject. |
History of Magic. Ah, this was a class Ellie was keen to take, but not keen to admit that she was keen about. She entered the classroom. "Hi, Professor," she said, before sitting down. |
Abigail smiled at the professor as she entered the room, and headed over to the pile of cushions before sitting on the one that looked the comfiest. ‘I like this class already’ she though as she got comfortable. |
Ella smiled at Virgi; James had explained to her it was just friendly. "I'm sorry about the way I acted yesterday," Ella said softly, "It was very wrong of me. And I'm fine, thanks. You?" |
"Hello Professor!" Sloane exclaimed taking her seat near the front of the class. |

Slightly taken back by the casual arrangement, Magenta sat herself down on a cushion furtherest to the back of the class. Despite the fact that both her mother and sister did incredibly well in the subject, she was under no illusion that she'd do the same. Sighing slightly, she took out her parchment, quill and ink and spent the rest of the time before class began watching each student as they walked in. |

"Whitney, welcome." Ethan winked at the young Slytherin. Quote:

Humming. Professor Truebridge had to concentrate hard not to hum alo... it was no use. He picked up the tune and started to whistle a harmony to it, offering Emalyn a surprisingly serious little wink. Quote:

"And hello and welcome to the rest of you too." Truebridge greeted the other students who had arrived and sat quietly. "First of all, yes History of Magic is being held up here in the Astronomy tower until further notice. The professor who has been employed to teach astronomy," Ethan chose his words carefully, since he was 100 percent positive the students would be learning about the gastronomical and not the astronomical. "Is now located in my old office and classroom. Do ensure you are polite and welcoming and I suggest that you stay out of his way to allow him to... settle in." That was about the best warning Ethan could give really. "Today we are going to start with the 'boring' stuff. I am quite aware that not everyone has such a fondness for magical history as I do myself, but I'll try to make it at least a tiny bit interesting. And so, to start with who can tell me one thing they know about History of Magic? You can be as broad or as precise with your answers but do make sure it is just one thing." |

After getting thoroughly lost in one of the corridors on his way up and getting pursued by a random knight in a portrait, Arrick was expecting to walk into a classroom. He wasn't expecting to find himself in a tower where there appeared to be nothing but cushions. He stood at the entranceway with a look of bafflement before frowning and quietly shuffling over to one side. He grabbed a random cushion and sat on it, waiting for class (what class was this? it ernt look promising) to start. |
