The first thing you notice when you step into the office is all the interesting do-hickeys. A lot of them are similar to the ones that had been in place when Cassandra Rae was headmistress but, there were a number of new ones as well. The most notable aspect of the space was the seemingly disorganized nature of it. Books, parchment, quills, ink, instruments, cauldrons, phials, and all number of items littered the shelves and any other flat surface available. You couldn't see the top of the desk and it was surprising that the seats were even available. Aside from the chairs (or at least most of them), the only thing not covered in various bits and pieces is the elegant baby grand piano stuffed in a corner of the crowded room.

The headmaster is a tall, relatively young, wizard with unkempt robes and dirty plastic glasses. He looks more like the auror he'd been than the headmaster he's become, a big brother rather than an authority figure. Though it is common knowledge that the headmaster was attacked by a werewolf the previous term, the change in his appearance may come as a bit of a shock to those who knew him. Though still as carefree as ever and his face untouched, he looks to be on the verge of illness and his hands are a bit scarred. Nevertheless, he smiles as you walk in (assuming you got past the gargoyle, that is

).

Kazimeriz chuckled. "The characteristics of each House are present in all of us, given the right circumstances." he said simply.

Sit." He looked to Reynard, hoping he would offer the boy some tea. Upstead wouldn't drink it if it were from Kazimeriz; he knew this with absolute certainty.

Headmaster Bontecou went over to his desk and poured three cups of tea. He held a couple of them out to the two guests. "Fresh tea?" he asked.

Nodding his head nervously, Jake stepped further into the office and sat down on the edge of the chair he'd recently occupied.

Yup. Still didn't like sitting down when Kazi was near him.

Blinking at Bontecou, Jake reached out at took one of the cups. "Thank you, sir," Jake nodded, the corner of his mouth twitching in an almost-smile. He didn't take a sip, because he didn't want to get a nasty surprise if the tea was hot or whatever. Fidgeting in his seat, Jake waited for whatever they had to ask.

"Thank you, Reynard." Kazimeriz said, smiling and taking a cup. He took a sip. "That is a lovely blend." he said, glancing at Upstead casually.

"Mr. Upstead, before we speak to the professor, we have as I mentioned some questions for you... What was your relationship to Professor Bunbury prior to this incident?"

Looking up just in time to see Kazimeriz's glance at him, Jake shifted uncomfortably. Something about them was making Jake wary. He subconcsiously clamped his lips together and fidgeted.

"Used to be good," he said in response to the question, ignoring the tea for a while and focusing on the adults. "Then... aft'r the op'nin' feast las' term..."Jake shot a meaningful glance at Kazi and then cleared his throat. "Well, aft'r all that stuff... 'er cat followed me outta her office, di'n't it?"

Guh, he may as well tell them this part now. It wasn't liable to get him in trouble. "Uh turn'd 'er cat pink... 'cause she likes that colour... right? And nowt happened 'bout it... and that was last term... 'n' she thinks I stole it... and she really don't like me now."

"So, suffice it to say you are not on good terms with Professor Bunbury," Pepe said and had to stifle more laughter, this time by sipping from his own teacup. The kid was clearly clueless. He glanced over at Kazimeriz to see what the old man thought of all this.

Kazimeriz smirked. The kid took the bait; now they could get down to it. He raised an eyebrow. "The tea is quite warming, isn't it? Of course, that vague warming sensation could be stemming from your desire to relax and be completely honest with us. Veritaserum has such an effect, you know." he said in an offhand way. "And since we're on the subject of your 'recent' desire to put behind your bad behavior... Perhaps the best way to start fresh would be with a full confession." He looked at Upstead, sipping his own tea calmly.

Hearing Kazi's words, Jake stopped dead in his tracks. "Wwwwwhat?" he whispered, leaning forward and hurriedly putting the tea down, feeling exactly the way Kaz said he would. Bottom lip trembling, Jake felt betrayed. "I ddddddunno wwhat you muh-mean..." he said, stuttering confusedly. "I don't have aaaaanything t-to confffess..."

Why would they think he did? They didn't believe him after all.

Sigh.

Hmm...two down, five to go.

LouAnn had planted the first rune herself, and Cope had promised her he'd plant the one she'd given him. So now all she had to worry about was getting the remaining five in place and ready to go. After stating the password---how had she gotten ahold of it again?---LouAnn ascended the stairs, already feeling for that little drawstring bag of runes in her pocket.

Once she had it out, she paused just before reaching the door and dug out a small rune with a series of arrows on it. She held that rune tightly in her hand and shoved the rest of them back into her pocket.

Hopefully no one would be in the office, and if they were, well...she'd figure out something to tell them. She gently pushed open the door to the headmaster's office and stepped inside. Of course there were people inside. She sighed softly. With all the trips she'd been making to the headmaster's office, she should have known at least one of them would be a little more difficult.

In his suddenly clouded mind, Jake heard the door open behind them, and thought maybe, juuuuuuust maybe, that a Healer from St. Mungo's was here to whisk him away... Lupa had threatened as much, and he sure felt crazy. Plus, he was scared that one of the professors would ask something that he was hiding, something like about Arithmancy or whatever.

Without turning to see who had come through the door, Jake felt the 'veritaserum' take affect... and as he slumped back in his chair, totally relaxed, Jake saw LouAnn in the refection of the window, and his heart leapt a little. Like... she'd take the attention away. Nothing else. "I told the truth," the boy said, speaking kinda quietly.

The headmaster was about to turn back to Kazimeriz when the door open. "Ms. Purple. What brings you up here?" he asked, wondering the gargoyle was still standing open.

Was something...wrong with Jake? LouAnn tilted her head to the side just a bit in an attempt to try and see her Hufflepuff friend. He spoke the truth? The truth about what? Her eyes flickered from Jake to Professor Kazimeriz to Headmaster Bontecou. The headmaster was questioning her sudden appearance, but LouAnn remained calm despite the fact that she'd come here with no permission whatsoever. Not from the headmaster, that is.

She hadn't intended on the headmaster...or a small crowd...being present. Her lips turned down in a slight frown for a split second. "Erm, you...you sent for me, sir," she said, the lie coming out a little easier than it really should have. She appeared nonchalant, hopefully giving off the impression that he really had sent for her and that she was really here to see what it was he needed with her.

Nonchalantly, LouAnn nodded a few times in reply to the headmaster's question. She thought it was amusing the way he scratched the back of his head as if he was in deep thought. She didn't dare laugh out loud, though. It didn't appear she was going to get to stay, though, so she sighed and made plans to come back at a later time. "Oh, well, alright then, sir. If you remember what it was you needed me for, just let me know," she remarked. She glanced towards Jake and Professor Kazimeriz and nodded. "Excuse me for the interruption. Have a good day." She rocked back on her heels once then turned and headed out the door.

As he heard the door close, Jake did nothing except stare up at Kazi. This was dead weird... the 'compulsion to tell the truth' was just... similar to the way he used to be. Of course now he'd discovered the whole loophole system, but he couldn't do that now. He just couldn't. So, now LouAnn was gone, Jake relaxed properly and continued staring... his gaze so intent he felt it could bore holes through any surface.

Who would have thought going to the Hospital Wing to drop off a patient...well not a patient of the living kind anyway...would be such a drama. Finally after being able to leave there, Marcus walked alongside Torin Kane up to the Headmaster's office.

Giving the gargoyle's the password, they headed up the spiral staircase and stood outside the door. Marcus, gave the door a gentle tap and stood back and waited. "Make sure you tell the Headmaster everything you remember Torin, okay?" He looked at the boy out of the corner of his eye and could tell that he was still uncomfortable with the whole thing.

This was the second time that Torin had been here, and the occasion had been rather unpleasant. He was hoping that this time things would go along smoother. And take less time.

The whole time that he was with Lawson he kept quiet, still not wanting to be here. Why couldn't he have just stayed in his Common Room? Or Dorm?

He was so consumed with his thoughts that it took him a moment to realize that he was being spoken to. "Yes, Professor," he replied nodding slightly as he stared at the door to the office.

The office was getting crowded. One student on the way out, one student in the hot seat, and by the sounds of it, one student at the door. "Professor, would you be so kind as to see to Jake for me while I handle the business at the door?" he smiled and then turned to Miss Purple. "Thank you for coming and I promise, the next time I call for you I'll have the decency to remember why I'd done so."

He laughed at his little joke and then headed to the door to let them out and the newcomer(s) in?

ooc: Sorry to hustle you guys out, but I need to get moving with stuff.

"Ah, Professor Lawson, Miss Torin. To what do I owe the pleasure?" he asked as the others made their way past out of the office.

"Headmaster Bontecou, Torin and I need to speak with you. It is of utmost importance." Marcus peered around the man to see that Kazi was in his office and he let out a tiny groan. Why was that man always around when there was bad news to be given? Knowing Kazi when he hears of this, he'll no doubt blame him for it.

Although LouAnn somehow also knew the password (she still hadn't figured out why it kept coming to her, even though she was sure that sort of thing wasn't shared with students), she remained quiet while Professor Lupa spoke it and let them through. She held tight to the woman's hand, afraid to let go for fear of being left alone to deal with her fears. She said nothing but rather glanced up at the woman who'd led her in, waiting for her to say something...do something. LouAnn was a little afraid to make the next move.

He smiled weakly at the Headmaster but didn't say anything. He didn't really want to talk and figured that Lawson could do most of it. Instead he jsut looked down at his feet waiting to be let inside.
