If you ever wish to leave this room you are going to have to keep your wits about you. Compose yourself and try to clear your head. I would suggest you focus on a happy thought, one single happy memory in your mind that will help you gain control of yourself. Try this exercise and you will be ready to hear my next instruction.

Ross decided to listen to the voice that was now circling around his mind so he focused on the one thought , the happiest one he could remember.....his first date with astrid. Ross focused on all the smells and everything that happened that day from the kiss to walking back up to the school hand in hand with her.

Flipper 12-03-2008 04:57 PM

Happy memories.
Eva took a deep breathe. At first, she didn't feel a thing. Then, it was like the memories passed through her.
She finally found the one she needed. She was five. Eva, Ellie and their father were at thje aunt's farm. Dad was teaching them how to ride a horse. She felt calmed. Horses had that effect on her. Same as the memory of her father. She almost could everything again.
Eva let that feelling comfort her and, for the first time, she decided to believe that, despite being in the wizarding world, her father was watching out for her and Ellie.

relly1611 12-03-2008 05:14 PM

Despite the whole situation, Jessica tried to relax. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes (which wasn't much different because the room was in complete darkness anyway).

Due to the recent events, and Eric's sudden leaving, it was quite difficult to concentrate on a happy memory. Eventually, she remembered her first year at Hogwarts, when she made the most lasting friendships. Yes, it was definitely a happy memory; friends were the ones who had the best effect on Jessica.

Everybody was freaking out in here. Miranda had done that plenty. But one thing she knew, the hysteria didnt help save the professor. Miranda shoved another chocolate frog in her mouth, taking alot of deep breaths.
"Who wants a chocolate frog?" she asked the group, turning to what she hoped would be atleast Rapunzel. Not fun talking to another wall. Maybe they could stuff their faces with chocolate and stop arguing!
"Here Dominic," she said throwing a frog at, what she hoped was, his direction. Miranda heard a soft thud and assumed she had hit the desired target, "just dont think I like you or anything..." she muttered. As she took a bite of another chocolate, she closed her eyes. She smiled as it reminded her of the times her family went camping. Her parents would be outside the tent enjoying the stars, while Miranda and her brother were tucked into their sleepingbags eating candy and drinking hot cocoa.

*hopes I can join*

Jayne was in the corner of the room and sitting quietly after having followed everyone, she concentrated on the day Rebecca had got her results and smiled to herself, she was quite calm and collected, she liked the dark! "Can I have a chocolate frog please?" Jayne called out "Im here" she giggled and kept humming so the girl could throw the frog her way

This was until Kayla pounced on Dominic, she understood why someone would want to do such a thing but it wasnt really helping the situation so decided to speak up Kayla! she said in a loudish voice not wantin to shout and trying not to laugh at the thought of him with a wand up his nose continued Be careful, you dont wanna break your wand now do you a slight giggle creeping in at the end. She hadnt planned to say anything like that however it was better then yelling at her friend.

"Oh don't worry Crystal" Kayla panted as she continued to wrestle with Dominic. "I don't plan to break anything of mine...just his."

Because this probably wasn't the best time to mention she was claustrophobic. Adding that to the fact the room was very dark and too crowded.

Kayla had Denton's arms pinned to the ground and she looked up as Eva snapped at her, she had never spoken to Kayla that way before. "I apologise Eva, I tend to do irrational things when I am frustrated. You're nothing like your sister okay" sighing deeply for a moment. "Are you okay?"

Anything was possible. Including feeling the weight of the annoying, smart-alack brat Winters pushing him the rest of way down to the ground.

"Winters," he growled, realizing all too late her last words and hoped that didn't count as the one more word. "Clearly I am irresistible, but now is not the time or place."

Oh thank Merlin! Someone was shouting for Kayla; he was saved, right? Hopefully... Girls and their psychotic friends could be so silly sometimes. Break her wand!? Why would it break from being shoved up his nose? If anything it would break his nose!

Dominic was so distracted, where he hardly noticed the 'anyone I know in here' from the younger badger, or the sudden outburst of 'ouch'. Those cries seemed so minuscule to him right now.

She tightened her grip on Dominic and leaned down closer to him. "Denton, you do realise that constituted as another word" Kayla growled. It was rather tempting to shove her wand up his nose but as it was she was not setting a very good example for the younger students.

Kayla rolled away from him, breathing hard. "You better win that championship game Denton or I will not be so nice next time." She stood up from the floor and made her way blindly back to the wall.

Kayla ran her fingers over the wall again and taking deep breaths to get back under control. She fished in her pockets and found a lollipop, not what she really wanted at the moment but maybe it might stop her from opening her mouth and causing more trouble. While she worked she decided to think about home and all the good things that had happened there.

The Narrator 12-03-2008 06:48 PM

Good. You're all doing much better. Now that I have your full attention, I will explain. There are no spells which work in this room, as I explained to you earlier. Thus, the only way out of this room is to simply feel your way to the exit, working as a person would work who is without the gift of sight, learning to feel and experience in a new way. There are two ways out of this room, one is correct and the other is not. You will have to feel the words "E-X-I-T" on a raised sign to escape through one door, but the other door has no sign on it. These doors are located in different parts of the room, on different walls. If you choose the wrong door, it will bring you back to the beginning of this room again and you will have to start the whole process all over again. So once again, choose wisely and take your time.

milloy112 12-03-2008 06:52 PM

Ross felt around the room realising how hard it must be for a person without sight he decided to think about his best memories while he felt around. once he reached another wall he hit his toe on another rock and almost went into another wall "O great is it possible to not get hurt" he shouted in the air" .

Reaching a hole in the wall he felt around trying to see if there was a sign and sure enough he felt something but he wasnt sure if it was a sign so taking his chances he walked through into the dark abyss.

Miranda whipped around as she heard someone call for a frog. She grinned "Yeah sure, here it comes!" she called out. Tounge between her teeth, she tried to concentrate on where the girl was standing. The humming did really help and was now pretty sure of where she was. But, maybe it would be better to hand her the frog incase Miranda accidentally threw it at her face.
Yes, that would be better.
"Oh, sorry!" she said as she walked through the maze of people. "Yikes!" it felt like she stepped on someones hand. "Sorry, excuse me...oh pardon me!" Miranda apologised as she finally bumped into the humming girl. Phew! "Here you go!" she said almost groping the poor girl, searching for her hand.

Elan took a deep breath and began to think of happy thoughts. He thought of Al, and his parents and Lola and the people who made his life wonderful. He felt lighter and less frightened. He began to feel around the walls, but he couldn't reach terribly high. He just did what he thought he should do.

Helios Sunrider 12-03-2008 06:57 PM

The flip flopping of sandals gave a lonely applause to the entrance of the young prince. The lack of any further fanfare showed that this was not his kingdom, and this castle not his home.

Young Helios, the boy with the golden hair and sky blue eyes took a seat at the large table. Eyes on the ceiling, he appeared lost in the clouds. Lost in his secret thoughts.

OOC: Probably help if I paid more attention. Consider that an intro, I'll have him fumble in the dark next post.

Jayne giggled "Thanks!" she ate the chocolate frog and started crawling around feeling every corner, she moved up and worked her way around the room "what's this?" she said out loud, she moved her hand over it gently "E... X... I... T!!" she screamed with joy "It's here, over here!" she told them

Edward Penguin 12-03-2008 07:37 PM

Elan heard someone scream that they had found it, so he slowly made his way in that direction. He called out to the person, "can you keep saying something so I can find you?" He wsa blind in this room and couldn't make out anything as not one pinpoint of light entered the darkened and rapidly heating space.

milloy112 12-03-2008 07:46 PM

Ross heard someone shout they found the hole in the wall so he decided to shout back "Just remember it might just be the way the wall is formed as i think i can feel it over here too so you take that route and i will take this route" Ross said getting sick of the darkness.

"This is making me feel sorry for the blind" Ross added as he hit his hand on the wall as he walked through the doorway.

Becky 12-03-2008 07:46 PM

Jayne smiled "yeah sure" she started singing "I found it, I found it, it's heeeeeeere" she sang over and over again

Edward Penguin 12-03-2008 07:51 PM

Elan decided to follow the girl's voice. He seemed to trust her more, and she hadn't tried to take charge. Plus, her singing was fun to listen to. He followed the sound as it got louder until he reached out and felt hair.

Becky 12-03-2008 08:09 PM

Jayne kept singing and she yelped a little when she felt someone touch her hair "Feel it?" she asked directing his hand towards the wall "Wanna go?" she asked and then she started humming again in case someone wanted to join them

Edward Penguin 12-03-2008 08:25 PM

He smiled when he felt a hand move his to the wall. "I think that's an excellent idea. Maybe we should check to see if we are going to be followed though."

Attempting to collect his thoughts and relax was quite difficult for Dominic, seeming how he had the weight of Kayla Winters on him. But perhaps, not impossible. At least not when comparing to the struggle for the snitch against the first year slytherin in the last quidditch match.

Picking it up, via reaching his arm across the floor where it bounced off his head, Dominic sighed. "Thanks Miranda," he said gratefully, even if he didn't particularly like chocolate. Lemondrops were better. "Just uh... make sure you use that exceptional arm of yours in the championship, if you could throw in the dark..." he wheezed out beneath the weight of his fellow fourth year.

Closing his eyes, he gulped when she said it constituted as another word, but then a moment later, she rolled away from him.

"You know that I will try my hardest, Winters. I want that snitch as much as the next Hufflepuff," Dom reminded her, as he struggled to stand up and make his way through the darkness towards a wall. Now able to relax, he focused on the task at hand. Of making it through the room and saving Shackleton. Of the happy memories in his life, which weren't many so it was quite easy to recall them.

Before he could begin to feel his way out of the room, he heard another girl screeching from across the room that she found it, which meant that it was most likely the sign with the exit. The one that would probably exit them from this 'hunt'.

Shaking his head, Dominic ignored the rush towards her and continued feeling his way around the room blindly until he felt a break in the wall. The other door. Reaching up, he confirmed it - there was no sign above the door.

"I don't think that one is it," Dominic called to the others in the room. "If it has an exit, then that would exit the room but also exiting the task. Of which we don't want... We want to continue forth with the hunt in saving our head of house, which would mean it would be the one with no sign. No direction, except forward." With that, the fourth year felt for the handle and placed his hand on it, ready to open it.

Hearing the logic of the older student, Elan just became more confused. It was so much to take in for the first year student. He sat down and began to rock back and forth trying to figure out what to do. Where was Aly? he whispered under his breath. She would help him decide.
