| | | Potions Lesson One: Boil-Bursting Unction Adam, beanie covering his head, opened the door to the classroom. His hair had turned completely white, except for a few black stripes and quite frankly Adam wanted to lock himself in his office and never come out again. The liberal amount of black number 43 hair dye he'd rubbed in hadn't helped either.
But work was work, and another set of students were waiting for him to fill their brains with knowledge. Or not... he thought to himself. |

| ❄ Chasing Waterfalls & Wonder ❄ | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers Amelia leaned over her cauldron, watching the sage and aloe steeping. Potions wasn't one of her best subjects, but it certainly wasn't her worst either. Once it had steeped for 10 minutes, she added three teaspoons of calendula as instructed.
The sixth year hufflepuff reached for her long spoon, where she then stirred her unction potion for precisely thirteen times clockwise - although she may have lost count and added an extra stir or two in.
She then turned the heat up and allowed her potion to simmer and thicken. She shrugged off the Professor's behavior and made a note to visit his office later to discuss his health. Something was clearly wrong, and Dresden obviously didn't want to share with the whole class.
Looking back at the potion, her eyes widened as she saw the color a puke-green color! Hopefully it was that color because it hadn't simmered long enough. Either way, she called the Professor over: "Professor!! Is my potion okay? Did it go too long?" she asked, in a panicky voice.

| The one and only MadHatteress Alex looked up to the Professor, and stood in honor of his presence. A little trick he was taught at Beauxbatons, "Yes sir, that is one of the first rules to check before creating a Potion, sir." Alex addressed the Professor in a serious french accent, he hated the mark Beauxbatons left on him, but he couldnt get rid of it. He stood away from the cauldron, and away from the Professor, he need some space mentally it seemed. |

| SS Senile Senior Qaz watched her cauldron steeping away. When it hit the 10 minute mark, she added the three teaspoons of crushed calendula. Very carefully, she stirred thirteen times clockwise.
She then turned up the heat a bit and watched it simmer. Every so often, she’d peek at the Professor. He certainly was acting strange…kinda antsy. Must be close to a full moon, she thought.
It took a while, but it finally started to thicken and slowly turn brown. Once it had reached the right consistency and colour, she killed the flame.
While she was waiting for her potion to cool, she gazed around the room. It looked like most everybody got it right. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: [s]Alice Murat[/s] Rawther Inactive First Year | Whende glanced down at her potion. It was brown. She'd actually successfully brewed something without anything a) blowing up b) turning rainbow colors or c) melting.
She put out the fire and rummaged around in her bag for a moment for a bottle. Once she'd waited a little while for the potion to cool, she got a sample, carried it to the front of the class. She danced back to her table to clean up.

Amelia calmed down a little when Dresden said it was okay. She was still anxious, but that was her normal state these days it seemed... Turning up the heat, she let her potion simmer for a few more minutes as instructed.
It was barely five minutes passed, when her potion turned brown. She grinned as she removed it from the cauldron and waited for it to cool to room temperature. She then grabbed an empty flask, bottling a sample, the sixth year walked her potion up to the Professor's desk - confident it was done correctly now.

| The REAL Sorting Hat: "Ravenclaw!" This monkey is bananas. Ariana stifled a slight yawn as she waited for her water to boil before adding the sage and aloe vera to the caldron. Potions was one of those classes where everything went wrong it seemed, but she was determined to pass this year without injury to herself or others. Thinking back to her candies she made last year caused her to chuckle a bit as she watched the concoction steep.
Once the ten minutes was up, she added the proper amount of calendula and stirred thirteen times clockwise, counting in her head. She needed to get this right, to show Dresden she was actually capable of producing a potion that worked. She blinked as she stirred one last time and took a deep breath of the potion, coughing a few times. "Okay, what else?" She asked herself, looking around as professor Dresden spoke again. He certainly did look off, but if he said he would see the nurse than so be it.
Her potion was now simmering nicely it seemed to her, but she stoked the fire to keep the simmer going, watching as the sickly green colour of her potion started turning to a weird goldish color. It wasn't thickening however and she frowned as she stiffled another yawn. Finally, thankfully after a few more minutes of simmering the concoction turned a pale brown color and began to thicken to the point where, hopefully, it should be. She sighed a sigh of reliefe and looked up, thinking she'd wit a few more minutes before turning off the flame and bottling the potion. She kept a wary eye on the professor though, ready to jump up and help if he collapsed.
When her potion had turned a brownish color she shook her head and stopped the fire, and carefullly used a cooling spell she had learned to cool the potion to room temperature, putting some of the potion into a small vial and labeling it. She stood, stretching hugely and sighing again before putting a cork i nthe vial and walking up to the professors desk and placing it on it. Wth that finished, she couldn't help but grin as she walked slowly back to her desk to clean her mess.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Sophia Svensson #556B2F Slytherin Fifth Year Hogwarts RPG Name: Eulalia Walles (#F48037) Hufflepuff Fourth Year | Constant Vigilance! O_O AWAKE! Juniper stared at her potion. It was not really brown yet. It was more of a tan color. She tapped her foot as she waited for it to be the right color.
There. Finally. It was brown. Juniper grinned and put out the fire. She wondered how long it would take for the potion to cool to room temperature. After waiting what she expected to be enough time for the potion to cool, Juniper grabbed a bottle from her school bag and collected a sample of her potion. Of her brown potion. Beaming, Juniper carried the sample to the professor's desk and set it down. Then she returned to her cauldron. |

He smiled, and added, "So first, we need to chop the sage." He pulled a small chopping knife out of his bag and laid the sage down on a chopping block. Carefully, he began to roughly chop his sage. "Make sure you use the very end of the knife as a fulcrum point - it makes it easier to chop. And also make sure you slide the knife back and forth," he said, focusing on not losing any fingers.
Once his sage was all chopped, he took a handful of it and dropped it into his boiling cauldron water. Then he added the stalk of aloe vera. Quote:

"Once your sage and aloe has steeped for 10 minutes, we need to add three teaspoons of crushed calendula. Calendula is a topical antiseptic, and also has some anti-inflammatory properties. However, he stuck his stirring rod in the potion and carefully stired it thirteen times, clockwise. "One....two...three............................... .......... twelve.... thirteen. Done!" Quote:

Ryan nodded to show is understanding and pointed his wand back at the small fire underneath his cauldron. He muttered another "Incendio," to turn up the heat. The flame became a little better, and in a few moments, the concoction was bubbling slightly.
Soon enough, it had turned brown - not quite the pleasing chocolate brown, but it was more of a...sickening sludgy brown. But it was brown, all the same. Quote:

Once his potion had cooled down, he pulled out a vial and a stopper from his bag. Using a ladle, he poured some of the potion into the vial, promptly placing the stopper tightly in the opening.
Carefully cradling the vial in his hands, Ryan unseated himself and walked his potion to the Professor's desk. He placed the vial down, making sure it wouldn't roll around, and then walked back to his table, and sat back down.

| SS Senile Senior When her potion had cooled sufficiently, Qaz spooned some into a small jar for the Professor and the remainer into a container for herself. Waste not, want not. She cleaned all of her equipment and stowed it in her Potions case. She brought the small jar up front and put it on the Professors desk. It gave her a chance to see him close up. He looked rather off. Maybe just catching a cold.
Then Qaz went over her notes once more to make sure she didn’t miss anything. After that, she put away her notes, textbook and quill. Started towards the door then turned back. ‘I hope you’re feeling better soon, Professor. Maybe a nap would help.’ She said with a sympathetic smile. ‘Good day.’ |

| The one and only MadHatteress Alex sighed as he bottled his orange potion, he left it on sir's desk. He would come back later to find out what was wrong, he sighed look at the board. He returned to his desk and noted the homework. He picked up his stuff and as he passed the teacher he patted him on the shoulder and said, "Till tomorrow, sir." Alex smiled at the Professor and walked out of class. |

Cassandra had turned up the heat, waited for the potion to turn chestnut brown and then bottled the potion. She cleaned up the cauldron and then wrote down the homework... her favorite class, now over... She sighed inwardly... At least there was homework.
She carried the vial to the professor. "You know, it wouldn't be a bad Idea giving Ryan Lee boils to test the effectiveness of the unction..." she smirked. "I would love to see how it works..."

| Shoe!Girl │ Rebel Ravie │ Confundus Queen │ RP Addict After several minutes, Rhiannon leaned over to look at the simmering potion in her cauldron. It had definitely changed color. Kind of looks burnt umber. That's a brown. She laughed at herself as she extinguished the fire underneath the cauldron so the potion could cool. Figures she'd come up with an artist's term for brown.
Several more minutes later, her potion is cool enough to bottle, so she takes a small vial out of her bag. Filling it with her potion, she corks it and brings the vial up to Professor Dresden's desk, labeling it and placing it among the several other vials already there.
Returning to her seat, she writes down the homework and then starts palcing all her equipment back in her bag.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Ivandermius Hart Third Year | GUESS WHO'S BACK. BACK AGAIN ♥ Team Samssy ♥ Samson let out a yawn as he continued with his potion. He added all ingredients, stirred it as needed (though he did lose count of the stirring after 10), and simmered it at roughly the right time. He hoped the potion came out as he wanted it to. He leaned back as he allowed his potion to sit in the cauldron and simmer.
He looked around at his classmates, a smirk on his face. They were all so amusing to watch. They looked so desperate, trying to perfect their potions. Now, in his case, although he really wanted to merit points for Ravenclaw, he didn't like taking the lesson seriously. All those instructions! He liked to practice free will, thanks you very much.
When his potion finally set, he peered over the cauldron. He wrinkled his nose as he got a whiff of the potion. Eugh! "Uh. Professor..." he mumbled tetatively. He hoped he didn't hear. He was unsure he actually wanted the attention of the professor. For one, the potion didn't look as brown as it should've looked. More like a sickly, pale brown. He laddled it in the flask and corked it gingerly.
He looked at it, unsatisfied. Oh well.
He then placed it on the desk in front and started cleaning up his place.

Kai stired her potin one last time, looking down she noticed the colour of her potion to be near perfect. She then lifted up her hand "Professor, does this look right?" she asked in a very calm manner.
She kept a close eye on her potion while she waited for her teacher to come.
