She raised her hand hesitantly, "I know this isn't a real object, but in the muggle book Lord of the rings, the one ring was as evil as its maker..." she trailed off, "Uh, I guess it was sort of like a horcrux...it had a will of its own...Are there any other magical objects like that, that do exist?"

Curt eagerly raised his hand, "Well, Inferi are like zombie type of things arent they? Then dont exactly need a wizard to control them, and they could hardly be called a creature...But on how to identify an object, that would be really hard I think. Is there any way to feel the energy of dark magic, I think there might be some charm you can use...but that could also turn out to be fatal as well." he answered, quite unsure of his answer.

"Correct... there are objects available that can help you detect Dark magic, but many of them are only good in finding Dark Wizards, and not necessarily objects. They might help you sniff out who is trying to harm you before they help you figure out what it is that is going to hurt you. Three for Gryffindor."

Rae twirled her wand, remembering when she'd taught this last. It had been her second term as professor, and they'd had a lesson on pogrebins. That... had been fun. She grinned.
"The incantation is Apenbarria. Say it slowly with me: Ah-pen-bah-ree-uh. Make that r-sound trill just the slightest bit to get a really healthy glow." She pointed her wand at the quill on her desk. "Apenbarria." Nothing happend. "Good news. My quill is not dark. Try saying it a few times, and then I'll show you what this baby can do."

Kerry tried saying the word a few times. She was happy she did, because she found that trilling the r didn't come as easy as she had hoped it would. "Ah-pen-bah-ree-uh" She repeated slowly again and again to get the proper pronunciation in her brain, her tongue slipping on that r, but determined not to give up.
At last Kerry got it down and was able to say the word, trill and all quickly without stumbling, "Apenbarria" she said a few times and smiled. Ready to cast in on an object when instructed to, hoping none of her objects were dark.

Curt eyed the wand on his dest, but didnt pick it up. He laughed a bit when the Professor joked about her quill, he then became reciting the incantation. He was just a first year, and this charm seemed pretty complicated. Just try my best I geuss said Curt under his breathe. And he repeated apenbarria several times until he could say it well. The whole room was soon with with many "apenbarrias"
