DADA Lesson 1: An 'Object' Lesson Headmistress Cassandra Rae had spent far too much time in her old office, watching the house elves fuss at the babies, and no time at all preparing for class. She was finally ready, though, and she opened her classroom with relish. The windows let in the crisp autumn air, and she settled herself at the desk to await any students. |
Pauline stepped into class ready for the first lesson in DADA. She smiled as she saw the Headmistress and waved "Hello Proffesor" She said with a smile and took a seat near the middle of the class. She didn't see anyone in yet so she made friendly conversation. "Was your summer pleasant?" she asked. |
Kerry walked into the room, excited for the first DADA class of the term. "Hello Professor, it's great to see you. How are you and the babies doing?" she asked politely as she found a seat near the front of the class and sat down, awaiting for the rest of the class to arrive. |
Vince walked into room, seeing the headmistress who was the professor. He wondered how the twins were doing, knowing she had recently given birth from last term. The house elves must be very tired of watching the babies, as he pictured an image of two babies quietly sleeping. "Hello, professor," he said smiling giving a wave when he walked into his seat. Looking around the room, he waited for more students to come. |
Ariana entered the classroom, ready for a good DADA lesson. Placing her books on her desk she said happily "Hello Professor, how are the babies?" Ariana asked as she got comfortable. |
"Good morning professor Rae!" Cecilia Malfoy smiled, as she sat down n the front row, taking out her book, notebook, quill, ink and wand. |
Savannah slowly walked into the classroom, Feeling abit nervous. she smiled at the Professor and spotted Cecilia sitting at one of the desks, Savannah slowly made her way over to her friend and sat down beside her. Quickly taking her book out and placed her bookbag next to her feet. |
MJ walked into the classroom and smiled at the Professor. "Hello Professor lovely day isn't it?" she asked and looked at her and smiled. She wondered if she would bring the babys to class some day baby's always made things better it gave peace and innocence to a class. Well in her opininon at least. She walked towards the desk and took a seat taking out her books. |
Nikki walked into the room excited about her first DADA class. "Good morning professor, how are you?" she asked, before finding a seat next to her friends. |
Celestina Warbuck hurried into the classroom, well aware she was early but still, that feeling of always being late never went away. Choosing a seat somewhere in the middle she dropped her overly large schoolbag on top of her desk and smiled politely at the students that had already arrived and at the Professor. |
Alexis walked into class and sat down. She was excited about her very first DADA class. "Hello Professor" She said with a smile. |
Matt walked into the classroom ready for the first lesson this year. He saw Pauline sitting toward the middle of the classroom and made his way and sat next to her. He pulled out his wand, quill, book, and paper as he waited for the class to start. |
"Good day to you all," Rae smiled and tapped her quill against the desk top. "My summer was... fine, if you can call it find while chasing the whims of two infants. My daughters are lovely and hopefully sleeping. And my husband finally convinced me to let the house elves care for them occasionally, so I'm finally getting work done again." No one really wanted to hear all that about her daughters, so Rae pushed on. "Wands can be out today, but we certainly won't need them immediately. Quills and parchment out for notes." |
MJ smiled when the Professor mentioned the girls. She was so happy for her. She took out her wand, Quill and parchment out for notes like the professor had asked them too and she waited for further instructions. |
Kerry felt bad for Headmistress Rae.. she could only imagine how stressful raising twins and running the school was. Kerry smiled at Headmistress Rae reassuringly that we did really care, and took out her quill and parchment, ready for the day's notes. |
Chloe raced into the DADA classroom as Rae began speaking, but also hearing some papers fly off a desk behind her. She completely ignored it though. She ran right up to the Headmistress and shook her hand enthusiastically. "Hello Professor Rae! Beautiful day, right? You are so cool!" As soon as the last word came pouring out, Chloe sprinted across the room and leapt into an empty seat, thinking about how proud Julia would be of her. She pulled out her materials for class out of her bag and sat alert, ready for anything after she placed the bag under her chair again. The girl was practically bouncing in her seat! My, she sure was quite hyper today. |
Nikki placed her wand on the table, along with her quills and parchment and sat and waited for the rest of the class to do so. |
Cecilia sat prepared and smiling |
Ariana smiled warmly as professor Rae mentioned her girls. Taking out her quill and parchment, she sat straight as she waited for the professor to begin the class. She was looking forward to learning about DADA since honestly she didn't get any of it last term, not that she didn't try, it was just she couldn't get the hang of it. |
Savannah listened as Professor Rae was talking to them, She nodded slightly and opened her bookbag, Quickly grabbing some parchment and a quill before placing them on the desk before looking over to the Professor once more. |
Caitlin slipped into her bookbag, pulling out her notes. She was a bit hungover with tiredness, as she'd stayed up late the night before, but she'd offically decided that she was going to be more active in her classes. She wobbled a little, supporting a freshly sprained wrist - which was her obvious reason for not being able to play Quidditch this term. She was upset, but she tried not to let it show, so she smiled happily at everyone as she surfaced with her parchment. |
Herlucy walked into the classroom, taking out some parchment and a quill out of her bag. |
Vince looked at the professor, starting to talk, listening to what she had said about her experience of having the twin babies. He smiled, knowing she will be a good mother and a professor, but he thought that was a little hard. Caring for her babies and mastering the school? That, for Vince, was a very hard job. He took out his quill and parchment, ready to put ink in it when the professor was going to teach them. |
Rae nodded at the students, clearly poised for action, and she stood to circle her desk. Once perched on the front in her usual position, Rae clapped her hands. Unnecessary, as they were all listening. She could get used to this. "Welcome to Defense Against the Dark Arts. I am Professor Cassandra Rae-Branxton, but you may call me simply Professor Rae. I am also the Headmistress, which means you will see me in several official capacities around the school. Please feel free to approach me on anything you need." She began with a very short history of herself. "You may wonder whether or not I'm qualified to stand here. There have been lecturers in this spot, and there have been frauds. I believe that only someone who has lived by Defense is qualified to speak on it with authority. If I were not qualified, I would fire myself immediately." She grinned good-naturedly. "Before I came to Hogwarts, I was an Auror with the Ministry of Magic. I had several very good teachers, many of whom have inspired me in my work here. Perhaps the best of them was named Alexander Rae. Older students may have heard of him... he was a famous Auror in his day. And, obviously, he was also my husband for a short while. But our team was ambushed, and I lost many people I loved that night." Her voice had gone soft, and Rae remembered waking up to the knowledge that only she and Prewett had survived. Lainey and Alexander were both gone... but she'd gotten Lainey back. "Teaching at Hogwarts saved my life, and I've made it my mission to help you all figure out how to protect yourselves. If you learn nothing else from this school, remember this... no one can hurt you as much as you can hurt yourself, and no one can save you more than you can save yourself. Knowledge IS power, and I want you to get as much knowledge as you can." She took a deep breath. "Enough about me... are there any questions about me or about this class before we learn today's lesson? Please don't ask questions about whether or not we're learning a topic. We will learn what we need to learn." |
Cassandra sat down at a desk in DADA class. She took out her Quill and Parchment, as well as her wand, and set them on the desk. She looked around the classroom, seeing it already with students. |
