Welcome to the Greenhouse! Make sure you check out the map posted below, to make sure that you don't get lost! From here, the Greenhouse center has doors connecting to the smaller Greenhouses and to a yard outside. By the front, you can also see the Poison Cell as well as the closets. If you forgot something, perhaps you should take a look inside! Quote:

1. Bring the plants from our last lesson and place them by the entrance. Be careful not to squish them because they will throw venom at you.
2. Sweep the floors - Make sure the floor stays CLEAN and free of water, dirt, and snow
3. Adjust the thermostats according to the Sections. Make sure the cold weather Sections 5-30 remain below -15 C. Make sure the warm weather sections 01-10 remain at 75 F. Make sure the wet Sections 31-40 remain at 65 F. Make sure the hot Sections 41-50 remain at 100 F. (this is very important. Last time we got an earthquake because of this).
4. Gather all the pitchers around the Greenhouse and clean them
5. Check the PH levels of the water tanks (PH levels must be 7)
6. Grab more sandbags and fill them up with soil out in the yard. Make sure you select the sandy-colored sand.
7. Start to dig new holes on Section 27 for a new breed of cold weather plants. Make sure to wear proper attire.
8. Check for the water valves to be working
9. Check the thermostats' spells are working
10. Clear the snow from Sections 25-30
11. Make sure no ice is accumulated in Sections 25-30
Quote: Plant Caretakers' To Do List:
Numbers 1-3 will be done repeatedly!
In order to prepare for next class, make sure to keep the plants in Section 31-40 constantly fed. Make sure that the water doesn't overflood the plants! (very wet weather)
1. Grab clean pitchers and water all of the plants. Use warm water for the cold plants. Leave them by the water trays.
2. Grind the green stones found in the closets at the entrance to make powder. Mix the powder in the pitchers with water to get a blue greenish tint in the water.
3. Pour this water to plants in Section 41-50 and 01-10.
4. Make sure to feed the biting plants on Section 33 with the meat inside the fridges (located right at the end of that row).
5. Make sure the plants in Section 40-50 get some water (but not a lot. They don't need much).
6. Go to Section 17 and collect the golden dust that the Dremuni plants give off. Be careful not to breathe them in! They induce sleep
7. Collect the fireseeds from Sections 44-47. Be careful not to touch them with your bare hands!
8. Make sure to water the Bubblesnap plants on Sections 33-35
9. Check on the progress of the Mandrakes
OOC- Please refer to the first and second post for information about the Greenhouse, the Poison cell, and so on. Also, don't be afraid to get in a little of a jam! (HINT: It is about your role-playing not about how many tasks you do.. Also try to veer your role-playing around the tasks, and not so much just plain chatting). Happy creative role-playing!!! |

Mason entered the greenhouse excited to explore. He looked at the lists decide to visit the wet section. He saw many exotic water plants. He entered section 33 to look at the bitting plants, while keeping his distance. He walked over to the bubble snap plants and watered them. He decided to visit the mandrakes. He crept slowly near them to view the squirming plants. He knew better than to even touch them having read a book on dangerous plants in the library. He was further exploring the greenhouse when he came across a rouge dirt pile in the hot weather section. He went and got a broom and swept the mess up. He came across a large creepy looking door. The sigh over it said "Greenhouse #24". He tried the handle but it was locked. As he explored further he got lost in a grove of blue leafed vines. He saw someone coming around the corner and called out "hello, is that you professor, do you know the way out of here".

Gina entered Section 13 and watered the plants. Then she took the green stones and ground them into powder (it was very hard work, I'm sure you've never tried to grind stones into powder before) and mixed it with the water in the pitcher. After it turned a bluish-greenish color, she poured it into the plants in section 31 - 35, not having enough for the rest. Then she dashed off to join the rest of the class.

| ll Achmed's 2nd Keeper ll Team Jacob l l Otaku ll Linda entered the green house intent on doing her Herbology homework and disided to use the green house 12 in the average weather section. She pulled out the copy she'd made of their homework: Review: We worked with Cocculus, Indicus. You crushed 1 small fruit with its seeds and left it in a tube with your label. Right now, all of these tubes are inside the Poison Cell in the Greenhouse.
Steps to Homework:
1. You are to retrieve your tube
2. Pick a quiet space in the Greenhouse (in any of the different temperatures. Note that the poison will react differently depending on the temperature. You may see a LOT of change or small to no change)
3. In a table in the section, pour the poison on a small batch of the red soil and note the changes in the soil.
4. Put the small amount of soil you used in a plastic bag and label it with your name. Make sure to store it in the Poison Cell.
5. Send me a PM with 3 parchments (1 parchment = 1 paragraph) describing what happened and theorize why you viewed this change.
Max Amount of Points: 20
10 points will be allocated to your RP in the Greenhouse
10 points will be allocated to your parchments.
Due date: December 3rd at Noon CST
Linda then put on some gogles and gloves, poured the posion into the soil and waited. For 5 minutes, nothing happened then slowly the soil began to change to the colour of the fruit's juice. Slowly the rich, lumpy soil began to disintigrate making the area sizzel loudly. It also emitted some vapour. She made notes quickly then jumped as she heard a pop and looked closely at the soil; it was now a mass of liquid a colour that was between the friut's posion and the soil. She waited for another five minutes or so to see if anything else happened and seeing nothing took a sample of soil and put it into a plastic bag, and wrote "Linda Livon" with magic on it.
Linda got up and went to the exit; she crossed green houst 13 and went to the poison cell. She left her bag there and went back to her table in green house 12. Linda took of her gloves carefully and left them near the table then picked up her notes and left. Now she just had to work on the essay. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Chloe Deveraux Fifth | Chloe walked into the greenhouse and smiled at the beauty of the plants around her. She had long loved flowers and their fragrances. She was remembering the cherry blossoms of Japan from her childhood when she remembered she was here for her homework, not to admire the flowers.
'I can do that later,' she thought. She pulled gloves onto her hands and placed the goggles over her eyes. She tied her hair back into a low ponytail and walked to the Poison Cell to retrieve her tube of crushed fruit and its seeds.
She decided to work in a warm section so she hopefully wouldn't get too many changes. She placed her amount of red soil onto the table and carefully poured the poison onto it. She watched it for a moment, becoming slightly bored when nothing happened. She pulled out a piece of parchment and started to scribble when she happened to notice that the soil had changed to the yucky color of the seeds and their juice.
'Huh,' Chloe thought to herself as she made a face. She recorded the observation onto her parchment and let out a squeal when she heard some pops followed by the sound of sizzling. The soil had been completely liquified and was a yellow shade. She gagged when she smelt a vapor coming from the liquid; it smelt horrible.
'Apparently it's acidic. It smells like sulfur. Disgusting!'
She waited a moment or two to see if anything would happen. In an interval of five minutes, the small little liquid started steaming and bubbling and then it stopped. Once nothing else happened, Chloe sighed.
"OK, I'm done here," she whispered softly to herself after noting the final change.
She took the soil sample into a plastic bag and scribbled "Chloe Deveraux, Slytherin, 5" onto it. She sealed it tightly and set it aside as she cleaned up her station with ease.
'I wonder what I do with my tube,' she questioned. She decided to place it beside her plastic bag when she took them both to the Poison Cell.
Before walking out, she placed disposed of her gloves and took her goggles off. She collected her notes and left the Greenhouse.
'OK, now to busy myself with that homework,' she sighed as she walked to the Common Room. 'I'm so sure I did something wrong...' |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Sini Sarah Snider Second Year | After reading the homework assignment earlier that day, Sini headed to the greenhouses ready to complete her assignment. She first walked over to the poison cell to retrieve her tube of crushed berry from the Cocculus, Indicus plant in class. Unsure of which temperature would be best to work on she considered her options for a moment. After studying her Greenhouse options, she settled to work in Greenhouse number 8 for the day, thinking that the warm temperature would change her results. Then heading towards Greenhouse 8, she opened the door and picked a table to work on.
She pulled her hair back, placed all her books down on the floor, cleared the area for working, and put her goggles and gloves on. After what happened earlier in class she was going to be very careful not to get any of the plant on her. She then took out her tube that held the crushed berry and seeds she plucked from her plant earlier that day while in class. She studied the berry for a moment, making sure to write down what it looked like now, before she began her assignment.
Then she poured the poison on a small batch of the red soil in front of her, and watched carefully to see what would happen to her small sample. She began to notice a change in the red soil; it was now changing into a deeper, darker shade of red. She jotted down the sudden change in soil color and continued to observe the soil. The soil appeared to be wet for some reason. Sini watched as the wetness of the deep red soil vanished, leaving a deep red marking in the soil. She also began to smell the strong fumes coming from the poison she had added to the soil, reminding her of her trip to the hospital wing earlier that day. Upon closer examination she realized that the seeds had left a black residue on the soil as well. She scribbled down the changes she had seen, making sure her notes were detailed enough to help her later.
She sat and watched her sample for about 15 more minutes, seeing no further change to the soil. Scooping up a small amount of her tested soil she placed it in the plastic bag she had labeled, Susan Sinister Snape, Gryffindor, first year. She then placed the sealed bag on the table and began to clean up after herself. Once she was done cleaning up she gathered her belongings and her plastic bag heading to the Poison Cell to store her tested soil. She placed the plastic bag where the other students had stored their own studies, surprised at how many students had already begun their homework.
Turning, she headed out of the room, hoping she could complete her written assignment for class in the common room. Sini was unsure of what her theories would be, but excited at the possibility of why the soil had changed color. |

First Year | GWFC/BWFC My <3 Erinelle walked in to the greenhouse calmly, she had an awful habit of rushing about when plants where involved, and tripping up in a greenhouse, where there were definately poisonous plants made her cringe. She tied up her black hair and slipped on her protective clothing, pulling out her homework she read it over a couple of times before collecting her tube, it just happened to be in the aptly named 'poison cell' and Erinelle bit her lip, desperate not to do anything stupid. She grabbed her tube and left the poison cell, rushing to Section 50 as carefully as she could. She was eager to be free of the poison before looking down and realising she still had a tube of it in her hand. 'Boy you're stupid today aren't you dear?' She thought to herself, settling down in the heated Section 50. She got the red soil and made sure her goggles were on tightly before opening up the tube. Biting her lip she poured the contents onto the red soil and jumped back in surprise as it began to hiss and spit poison. She ducked and waited for the soil to stop bubbling. Anytime soon would be good, she thought as she crouched under the desk, protecting her head. Soon enough, the hissing stopped and Erinelle deemed it safe to venture out from under the desk, only to see that the poison had turned the red soil into some kind of buibbling mess. She sighed, and scraped it into a plastic bag. Labbeling it, she made the petrified dash in and out of the poison cell, cleaned up her area and left the greenhouse, amazed she was still alive. Now, to do those parchments...

Megan retreived her tube from the poison room and carefully made her way into another room. She set down her books and made sure the tube wouldn't roll away or break. She proceeded to put up her hair and put on gloves and eye goggles.
Megan once again picked up the tube, opened it, and poured some of the poison onto the soil. She watched as the soil began to change colour. It became a darker red and began to make strange popping noises. An odd odor began to emit, making Megan wrinkle her noise in disgust. 'It must be some sort of acid,' she thought. After a couple of minutes the popping noise stopped. 'Well, that could have been more exciting,' she thought.
Megan jotted down her observations. She then put the small batch of soil she had been using in a plastic bag labeled 'Megan'. She gathered all of her stuff together, put the plastic bag and tube back in the poison room, then headed to the library to write the three parchments of homework.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Athena Evans (A twin) Third |
After reading up on the Cocculus, Indicus, Athena decided to go down to the greenhouse to get her homework done with. After retrieving her vile from the Poisin Cell, Athena looked at the map available. “Well,” she said to herself. “this plant is native to India and parts of Asia, so it will probably like warmer temperatures.
“Here we go.” She braced herself as she walked through the door into the balmy hot temperature of greenhouse 42. “Oh my!” She said to herself, instantly having a hard time breathing due to the stifling heat of the greenhouse.
As she made her way to the closest table she could get to, she noted the temperature inside “100 degrees!” She exclaimed.
She quickly got her soil ready and after putting on her safety gear, she poured her poison onto the red soil and sat back quill posed to take notes.
At first nothing happened, suddenly, she heard a fizzing sound. She looked for some smoke, but seeing none, she peered closely at the soil. The soil turned a dark brown, like if it had just gotten wet, and she could see a small indent in the soil, like the poison was eating the soil. She couldn’t tell however if this was because it was dissolving the dirt, or if the dirt was simply compacting from being wet. After several more minutes of nothing happening. Athena collected a small amount of soil, packed up her belongings and left the stifling greenhouse, disappointed. “Maybe a didn’t let it sit for long enough.” She thought to herself, “or maybe this was just too hot.” Disappointed that she didn’t have more of the poison to try in a different greenhouse, Athena stored her soil in the Poison Cell, and made her way up to the library to finish her homework.

Kerry arrived at the greenhouses to start her herbology homework. She took out her parchement and read quickly the homework instructions once more. Hmm, I need to retrieve my tube in the poison cell. Putting her homework back in her bag, she proceded over to the poison cell.
Once there, Kerry was relieved to find safety wear next to the door. She tied back her hair gently, grabbed a pair of safety goggles and put them on, and then grabbed a pair of gloves, quickly putting those on, too.
When she was sure all was safe she proceded into the cell to find her tube. Seeing "Kerry Shortfry" written on the 3rd tube to the left, she gently picked it up and was about to walk out of the room, when she realized she would need tweezers, too. Looking around she saw a small drawer with tools in them. Glancing down, she grabbed a pair of tweezers and headed out the door.
Kerry walked walked over to the greenhouses and read the signs posted. She wanted to be sure not to wander into the wrong greenhouse. She had already seen how powerful a single fruit on a plant can be, she did not want to experience what would happen if she encountered dangers with a whole plant.
Kerry studied this for a short time and then decided a hot weather green house would be a nice place to start. Not to mention the fact that Kerry was not very fond of the cold.
Kerry knew that any of the green houses marked 41-50 should do. She wanted some peace and quiet while doing her work, so she watched where other students were going, and then walked into green house number 43, which did not appear to have any students.
Heading over to an empty table, Kerry gently placed the tube on the table and put her school bag down at her feet. She hoped this experiment would be a fast one, as she was already beginning to feel the heat.
Kerry walked over to a series of shelves in the back. Each one contained a different type of soil sample. Kerry looked them over and then reached up to a middle shelf and grabbed the sample of red soil she needed and brought it back to the table.
Picking up the tweezers with one hand, and the tube with another, Kerry placed the fruit into the red soil. The reaction was obvious almost immediately. Kerry heard what was almost a sizzling noise and the red soil, which had actually been more like a maroon or reddish brown in color, was now turning almost a blood red. She watched as the fruit fizzled it's way down into the soil, and the smell of the toxic fruit was now becoming a bit nauseating to her. Thank goodness she had not come in direct contect with the fruit or she would be worried about the nauseous feeling.
Kerry sat down at the table, taking off her work gloves, she reached down to her bag and took out a quill and parchment and began to write down her observations.
After a few minutes, Kerry began to feel a bit light headed, but the fumes appeared to have disappated, so she attributed it to the heat. Getting up from the table, Kerry reached over and pulled a bag down from a dispenser in the corner, and returned to the table to collect her soil sample. She put her gloves on again, and carefully placed the soil in the bag, making sure not to spill any of it. Sealing the bag tightly, Kerry pulled off her gloves and wrote her name on the bag.
Kerry took another minute to clear off the table, putting her quill and notes back into her bag, and making sure the table was left clear. She slung her bag over her shoulder, and made her way back to the poison cell to return her bag and safety equipment.
After Kerry's trip to the poison cell was completed, Kerry made back up to the castle to complete the essay portion of her experiment while it was still fresh on her mind.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Jillian McGuffin Sixth Year | Gryffindor Goddess GG walked in the greenhouse. She continued walking as she reached the Poison Cell. She took out her gloves and goggles and put them on. Then, she tied her hair into a pony tail and went to retrive her tube. She found her tube and started her homework. She went to a quiet place in the Greenhouse with room temperature. She poured her poison in small batch of red soil. The soil turned a to a light lavander until it turned purple. She took out her notebook from her knapsack and jotted down Red soil~>Light Lavander~>Purple after poured poison. Then, feeling protected by her gloves, she ran a finger across the soil's surface.Instead of feeling the soft, loamy soil perfect for plants, it felt hard and rough. She then wrote: Soil is hard and rough. Note to self: wash gloves thoroughly to get rid of poison. She got a spade and dug out some of the soil she poured her poison into. She put the soil in a plastic bag and labeled it with her name:

| Professor Virohsa walked over to the Poison Cell and looked around for a few vials. She had some of the necessary parts, but not all. She would have to walk in the Grounds, to hopefully find some of the more common plants she needed. Without further ado, she left and headed towards the Grounds. |

Dis walked into Greenhouse 13 and off to the right to the Poison Cell. At the entrance were piles of rubber gloves and dozens of aprons hanging on hooks. Considering she was only going in there to retrieve the potion, she put one one glove and walked in. She grabbed her vial and walked out. She didn't want to stay in there so as she walked out of the Poison Cell, she grabbed an apron and another glove and walked over to Greenhouse 8, terrific temperature for working with a poison. Not too hot and not too cold.
She remembered crushing the seed and as she set her things down, she looked into the tube, noticing that it had somewhat dried out. It wasn't as supple as it was the other day in class. The seed had turned a pale gray and the oil separated from it. She swished the tube around a bit, trying to mix the two back together. Before emptying the contents, she put on her apron and second glove. She uncorked the vial and poured the contents onto the red dirt she placed on the table.
She waited with bated breath but nothing really seemed to happen. SHe was expecting a tremdous reaction but she was just staring at the poisonous oil mixing with the dirt. She checked her text book to see what kind of reaction is should have. She looked at her concoction again and noticed small beads of moisture forming on the dirt.
She shook her head and muttered to herself, "Hmm, it looks like the poison is most effective when ingesting. And that moisture is probably the poison itself illiciting it from the soil. Perhaps it's more potent when picked directly off of the plant."
Her berry was somewhat dried out and she couldn't mix the oil back in with it. She scooped the soil/poison mixture into a plastic bag and wrote her name on it, gathered the tube and washed it out in the sink in the greenhouse. SHe went back to her work station, gathered her notes and walked out of the greenhouse, across number 13 and back into the Poison Cell. She placed the vial back in it's holder with her plastic bag next to it and washed off the gloves and apron in the sink, not wanting to leave any of the poison on it, regardless of how ineffective it looked. She wasn't sure where, exactly, to leave the bag so she left it next to her empty vial, guessing that would be a decent place to keep it since her vial also had her name on it. She hung up the clean apron, threw the gloves back on the pile and walked out of the green house, ready to write her essays.
