Lesson 3: Water plants

fr2nc1z 01-15-2007 07:45 PM

Professor Virohsa opened the door and waited for students to pour in.

Kerry entered the room and smiled at the professor, saying "hello" as she walked past. She found a seat near the back of the room, where she gently slung her bag down, took out her quill, parchment and textbook placing it on the table and awaited her classmates to arrive.

Eliza strolled into the Herbology classroom in wonderment.
She had never been there before so it took a while for her to absorb her surroundings, she snapped out of her trance-like state and took a seat(?),waiting for her friends to come in.
She smiled at the professor "Good day professor!"

fr2nc1z 01-15-2007 07:52 PM

Professor Virohsa looked at Kerry and nodded. Deciding it was time she started preparing for class, she stood up and waved her wand. Suddenly, there were very large bubbles everywhere in the classroom.

Waiting for more students, she sat down again and waited.

Megan walked into the classroom, said "hello" to the Professor and took a seat in the front row. She pulled out everything she needed for the upcoming class.

Nathan walked into the classroom he loved to learn. He smiled as he saw the teacher and siad. "Good morning Professor," and walked toward a desk and wited for others to arrive so that the professor would begin the lesson. He ran his fingers through his hair. He then saw the bubbles and smiled.

Professor Virohsa smiled. "Ok, class! I hope you all brought your gloves. Trust me, you will need them!"

Suddenly, inside each dark blue bubble, a red swirl started to appear.

"Now, who can tell me what this magic is?", she questioned the children.

Sarah slipped in the room and she looked up at professor virosha. She slipped into a seat in that was in the back of the room. she looked around and saw the bubbles all over the room it was very strange. Sarah Smiled anyways.

Grovie14 01-15-2007 08:08 PM

Megan glanced at the blue bubble with a red swirl in it and raised her eyebrows. How was it doing that?

shortfry 01-15-2007 08:08 PM

Kerry watched quickly checked her bag to make sure she hadn't forgotten her gloves for class and then watched in awe as the bubbles around her began to fill with red swirls. She was unsure what the magic was, but she was certainly fascinated by it.

fr2nc1z 01-15-2007 08:12 PM

The swirl started to swirl a bit faster, when it suddenly produced the following inside each bubble:

Professor Virohsa looked at the confused children and waited to see if perhaps, they will have a better idea what the spell was. Or what a similar spell would be.

Grovie14 01-15-2007 08:14 PM

Megan's eye widened with wonder at the new thing inside the bubble. Still, she had no clue what magic it was. She hoped one of her classmates would know to put her curiousity to rest.

Sarah Raised her hand, "oh professor is it a spell for water plants?" she asked not fully sure what it was or if it was the right thing at all.

miss weasley 01-15-2007 08:27 PM

Eliza gazed at the plants inside each of the bubbles I remember seeing that somewhere....I know what it is,but what is the name? she tried to rack(sp?) her brains to remember what it was.

fr2nc1z 01-15-2007 08:43 PM

Professor Virohsa nodded. "Yes, it is a spell focused on water plants", she explained. "2 points for that observation", she added.

After waiting for a while, Professor Virohsa decided it was about time to address the question. "This spell is very much like Accio spell. I'm sure you have heard or at least studied it?", she asked. "The only difference is that it calls plants from within a distance. Now, why would this be beneficial to us, studying Herbology?", she asked the class.

shortfry 01-15-2007 08:45 PM

Kerry raised her hand, "This spell would be beneficial for plants that we are unable to reach any other way, for instance we are studying water plants but we can't go diving to the bottom of the lake to get any for ourselves, so using the spell, allows the plants to come to us."

Emily raised her hand and responded. "If someone has been injured and could use a plant for a remedy, you'd want to be able to call a plant to you rather than having to go looking for it and maybe not find one."

Grovie14 01-15-2007 08:47 PM

Megan raised her hand, "When someone is in desperate need for a plant that is not within grabbing distance, Professor."

Professor Virohsa nodded. "Very good! 2 points", she added. "Diving to the bottom may be a bit too hard"

"Ah, very true. In some occasions you will not have the luxury of time. 2 points", she added.

Professor Virohsa nodded. She waited for a few more responses before moving on.

"So now that we know what this spell is, we may continue. How do you think you can handle a plant that has been called through this method?", she asked the class. She waited for them to look at the bubble and guess of the best way of working with them.

shortfry 01-15-2007 08:54 PM

Kerry was proud she had earned Gryffindor some points, she raised her hand again, "Well professor, I would guess it's ok to gently pop the bubble to acess them and you did say to make sure we had some gloves so I would think that these plants are very fragile after being in the water so long so we need to be very gentle when handling these plants, using gloves to prevent damage to the slippery plants"

hpluvr037 01-15-2007 08:54 PM

Emily pondered this question. She thought she'd take a stab at an answer and tentatively put her hand in the air. "Professor, since it's a water plant, it would seem logical to conjure some sort of container with water in it to hold the plant in. Otherwise, it might not be as useful." It sounded like an obviouse answer, but sometimes obvious is right.

Professor Virohsa nodded. "Very well! It definitely seems like you have thought about it. 4 points", she added.

"So, before you go ahead and pop the bubble. Let's talk about the plant. Who can identify this plant?", she asked the class.

hpluvr037 01-15-2007 08:58 PM

Emily looked at the plant. She thought it looked somewhat familiar. "Professor, it looks like some sort of sea anemone. Is that what it is?"

shortfry 01-15-2007 09:03 PM

Kerry raised her hand, Professor the one picture looks like a red sea coral or red sea fan," but she was unsure if she was right.
