Lesson 1: Poison 101

This thread will be re-opened for the first class, to be held on:

Sunday November 26th

Professor Virohsa unlocked the classroom and stepped inside. The quickly headed towards her desk and waited for the students to arrive.

Tia slung her bag further up her shoulder, from where it dangled rather dangerously. Ignoring it, she stepped inside the Herbology classroom, looking around with interest at her surroundings.

“Good afternoon, Professor,” she said politely, finding herself a seat I nth front row, as usual, being the first to do so. Front seats were always the best if you were really interested in learning anything.

Kerry walked in the classroom, excited for her first day of class.

Good Morning Professor, she said as she passed the desk and smiled.

She walked over to a desk, and settled into a chair, awaiting her classmates to arrive.

Alanna entered the classroom. Herbology was always interesting; plants seemed to find a million ways to develop in strange magical ways.

"Hello Professor," she said politley as she entered.

Instead of taking a usual seat at the back, Alanna found a seat in the second row.

Calla's violent purple hair bobbed inside the classroom as she entered, followed by the rest of her face. She sat down next to Tia, whipping out parchment and a quill, in case she needed to take notes, and flashing her friend a smile and waiting for class to begin.

Erinelle walked in to the green house, tying her long black mane into a pony tail. Her pale pink lips curved into a smile as she looked about and she greeted the professor in her clear melodic voice.

She took a seat and took out her books and parchment, waiting for the lesson to begin.

RachieRu 11-26-2006 04:32 PM

Rachel stepped into the greenhouse, her bag on her back. Noticing a couple of students already there she sat down on the second row and got out a piece of parchment and her quills

GG walked in the greenhouse. She waited for the other students to arrive.

Maxilocks 11-26-2006 04:38 PM

Tia returned Calla's smile with one of her own as her friend took a seat next to her. She pulled her bag towards herself, and slid the zip open, slipping out a roll of parchment, too, which would come handy when she needed to take notes.

She then drew out a long, quill with single feather at the end, and laid it next to the rather yellowish roll of parchment, waiting for class to begin. More students had begun to arrive, and the room was slowly but surely filling up.

atmor 11-26-2006 04:42 PM

Atmor walked into the class. Her platnium blonde hair swayed with every step she took . She chose a desk in the middle of the classroom and serveyed the room and its students, she realized she was the only Slytherin in the class apart for this other girl so she went and took a seat beside her.

fr2nc1z 11-26-2006 04:42 PM

Professor Virohsa nodded politely and waited for the students to settle around. "Good afternoon, class", she said stiffly. "I hope that you all know the rules of the classroom, there is no point in wasting time talking about General Safety features, for I am sure that you have all read the introductory pages to our book", she explained.

"So let's begin. Our semester this term, will consist of 3 classes and one final exam. If you want to pass, I recommend you do all of the homework required and attend all of the classes, or at least get notes from another student", she added.

"Our classes will be half of it theory, half of it practice. In your homework, you are supposed to apply our class learning", she said rather quickly.

"Our topic today, is detecting poison. First of all, who can tell me why we would want to detect poison?

GG raised her hand "So that we know which plants we should avoid"

starlightangel 11-26-2006 04:44 PM

Erinelle raised her hand and answered the question, "To either save some one elses life, or your own."

atmor 11-26-2006 04:45 PM

Atmor's hand shot up in the air ''So we dont get poisoned or get someone else poisoned''

Maxilocks 11-26-2006 04:46 PM

Tia immediately raised her hand. "Because Poision can harm and damage the drinker or the inflicted person in many ways, each worse than the other, Professor," she said, slightly hesitantly.

RachieRu 11-26-2006 04:47 PM

Rachel raised her hand " so that we can know which plant is dangerous or not and that if someone gets poisoned we know which antidote to give them," she said

shortfry 11-26-2006 04:47 PM

Kerry raised her hand "An important rule of all classes is safety first. To keep us safe among all these plants it's important to know the difference between harmless and poisionous plants. A poisonous plant could hurt or even (Kerry gulps) kill someone."

Professor Virohsa nodded. "That is certainly good common sense. 2 points", she answered.

[color=darkred]Professor Virohsa grinned. "Ah! So very true. Some of you older students may remember that most of the times, the way to save a poisoned victim comes from the plant itself", she explained. "2 points"

Professor Virohsa looked at the slytherin student. "Yes, very good. 2 points!"

griffin_girl 11-26-2006 04:49 PM

GG beamed. Yes! two points! she thought. She paid more attention hoping to earn her house more pints.

starlightangel 11-26-2006 04:50 PM

Erinelle flushed with pleasure at earning her house two more points and began to write down all the other points being spoken by the other students.

atmor 11-26-2006 04:51 PM

Atmor looked at Kerry with wide eyes she knew poisons that even if inhaled could be severe and nodded in agreement. She looked up when she heard Slytherin got two points and smirked

shortfry 11-26-2006 04:52 PM

Kerry looked around and smiled at her fellow Gryffindor students, proud they were doing so well.

As, she reached in her bag, Kerry saw Atmor nod in agreement at her statement, and shly smiled back.

She took her quill and fresh roll of parchment and began to take the first notes of the day about poisonous plants.

"Ah yes! How very true!", she grinned softly. "2 points for your wonderful analysis", she stated.

Professor Virohsa nodded. "Identification of poison is often, rather complicated. And we shall see so today, good answer. 2 points"

Professor Virohsa nodded. "Right you are, the consequences could be dreadful", she nodded. "2 points"

griffin_girl 11-26-2006 04:54 PM

GG took out her quill and parchment and began to jot down notes. Her quill made that scratchy noise again like all the others, but she hardly noticed.
