Argyle shoos the Slytherin out of the office. "Silly girl, can't you see Master Braxton isn't here. Now go! Argyle has work to do." After the girl leaves Argyle gets to work. Argyle opens all the window and lets the breeze in the room. Argyle doesn't know why the professor is so disturbe by the smell. It reminds Argyle of Mistress Lainey. Argyle loves Mistress Lainey. She's always so nice to Argyle. Argyle shakes her head and clears it. Argyle must clean Master Braxton's office. Argyle snaps her fingers and a spray bottle appears in her hand. A odor elimination spray guareenteed to get rid of any odors. Argyle sprays the funiture, rugs, pictures, any surface available generously with the spray. Argyle sits down for a few minutes and starts thinking about Mistress Lainey again. She is so sweet to Argyle. How could anyone not love Mistress Lainey. Arygle smells again and sees that the odor has disappeared. With her work finished here, Argyle snaps her fingers and heads for Mistress Lainey's office. Argyle must see if she needs her right now. |
Professor Branxton walked into his office and spent just enough time inside to grab his things for class and ascertain that the smell was gone before heading to the classroom. |
During classes was the best time to clean the Offices, Schmoop knew that. He walked in with his supplies and began to do a lengthy cleaning. It had been a while since he'd gotten rid of the dust and the such and he was quite happy to do so. He even began a song under his breath. He wiped away a cobweb in the corner with his feather duster. "Master would not like to be pestered by spider, no. Schmoop will take care of spider for Master." A few moments later, Schmoop was finished and disappeared. |
Lord Borr pinned up a letter on the front of the office door. Once it was secure, he left. Quote:

Linnea slowly approached Branxton's office slowly she seperated the crumbs she had aquired from around Borr's feet into 3 different handkerchiefs. She intended to give some to each Rae, Branxton and Numel. She wasn't sure which she could trust, but hoped at least one would be a trustworthy person. She paused and decided to keep a few crumbs for herself.....just in case. She knocked on Branxton's door. |
Professor Branxton covered up the notes he was working on and called, "Enter." |
Hearing Branxton's voice telling her to enter, Linnea opened the door and stepped inside. "Hello, Professor Branxton," she replied with a small curtsey. She always felt a little odd doing that, but it was habit. Sigh. "I don't know if you've heard, but Mist..Pro........Lord Borr has fallen in love with Professor Hutchinson, but only after eating a cookie. She appears to share his feelings, also after eating a cookie. Moments before neither liked the other." She shook her head then reached into her pocket and pulled out one of her handkerchiefs. "I managed to retrieve some crumbs, in hopes that if it is love potion (which I am certain there is no doubt that it is) that we may be able to tell which one it is, possibly find the antidote." There was a note of hope in her voice. She wanted this to end, she wanted her friend Lee back, she wanted her head of house back to normal. |
Professor Branxton eagerly held out his hand for the crumbs. "Excellent work Miss... West?" he said, grabbing a vial with his other hand so that he could deposit the precious crumbs inside. |

Headmistress Rae knocked on Doyle's door on her way back to her office. "Excuse me... Doyle? Did you have a moment?" |
Doyle was depositing the crumbs from the napkin into a vial and looked up at the sound of Cassandra knocking on the door. "Thank you very much, Miss West," he said, getting up and answering the door. "Of course I have a moment, come in," he said before turning back to Miss West, dismissing her. "I will see you in class." |
Rae squeezed Linnea's shoulder as she moved past and sat in front of Doyle's desk. "I think we need to have a meeting about this potion, and we need to do it soon. We can talk here or in the Staff Room... but there are now four professors in the infirmary, along with Mr. Borr. We can't go on like this. We must find the source of the potion and cure those infected." |
"Yes Professor" Linnea agreed as she was dismissed. Her shoulder was squeezed by Rae on her way out and she felt somewhat re-assured. She shut the door behind her. |
Professor Branxton got up and grabbed a vial of black liquid from his shelf. He poured it into the vial of crumbs which turned pink. He gave the barest of smiles and then sat back down, pushing his notes toward her. "I have the cure now we need to find the source. We have to prevent more people from becoming infected or we will need to continue to brew the antidote and admister it as new cases crop up." |
"What were those... crumbs?" Rae remembered students babbling about cookies, but she couldn't be certain what they were talking about. "I've heard mention of cookies, but I don't know who... or where..." She shrugged helplessly. |
"These cookies were in the History of Magic classroom. Apparently Mr. Borr and Professor Hutchinson both partook of them and are now in the Hospital Wing, if I'm not mistaken," he explained and then nodded at the notes in front of her. "This potion should counteract the effects." |
"Do you think all the infected students and Lainey ate these cookies as well?" Rae considered. "That can't be... it can't be the same batch. So who would give Lainey spiked cookies and then keep putting them in her room after she's infected?" |
"I don't know," he admitted and then sighed and leaned back in his chair, removing his classes to clean them. |
"We need to meet with any of the students who are coherant enough to tell us where they got infected... or... something. Any ideas? Is there someone else who is more able to answer any of these questions?" |
"I can't think of anyone but, that doesn't mean there are. The Hospital Wing is probably the best place to start. Perhaps we can ask those infected when and where they first had these feelings. They may not be very coherrent but, some may give us answers that could push us in a direction." |
"Those who don't attack me for assuming their feelings aren't genuine," Rae smiled wryly and rose. 'I suppose I'm headed to the hospital wing then. Are you interested in joining me?" |
"There are two people I'd rather avoid while there but, perhaps I should accompany you anyway," he said, holding out his hand for her as he stood. |
Rae put her hand in his and they left the office together. |
Professor Branxton arrived back at his office in a rush. He immediately went for his secret drawer and extracted a small safe. After speaking the appropriate passwords, removing a muggle lock, and disarming some hexes he'd placed on it, he opened the safe and took out a small, covered cauldron. He left the safe on his desk and practically ran back out the door with the cauldron. |
Schmoop began his cleaning routine of the Potions Office again. Schmoop had grown fond of working in here. Schmoop quite enjoyed the school. Schmoop began his cleaning with his feather duster. This always made Schmoop sneeze, but Schmoop didnt mind so much anymore. Schmoop found a new cobweb, wiped it away, and fifteen minutes later Schmoop was done and left, leaving a small plate of cookies, safe cookies, on the Professor's desk. |
