Nabiya raised a hand, "Calendula or Mardigold tincture?"
She scribbled everything that was said on her notes.

AmberJoy 01-06-2006 06:55 PM

Amber Joy raised her hands, "Phoenix tears could help heal internal injuries. So if they were in a potion, then perhaps it would last longer to get to the internal part where the injury is?"

yashu 01-06-2006 06:56 PM

Yashu puts his hand up.
"Phoenixes are very hard to find. So if someone had a Phoenix, then he lost it, he could a potion from the Phoenix tears, so he can still be healed."

pippin 01-06-2006 06:56 PM

Jenna raised her hand.

"If you added phoenix tears to a healing potion, perhaps it would make the potion even stronger?"

Nabs 01-06-2006 06:59 PM

She listened the other student's answers. But the burn healing paste was a household potion, wouldn't pheonix tears be somewhat hard to come by?

Ryan thought again, "Professor, in a small potion like this, would Phoenix tears be too strong and possibly heal the wound but having minor or major side effects left behind, that could be the reason why they only put it in leathal potions."Ryan told the proffesor confidently.

Simple_Spells 01-06-2006 07:01 PM

Emma once again raised her hand. "Phoenix tears can heal pretty much anything. If you put it in a potion with some other ingredients that heal only one or a small amount of things, tears could possibly 'back up' the other ingredients to make sure the medicine works." This was a guess, but Emma thought it made at least a little bit of sense.

R348753 01-06-2006 07:04 PM

"could the pheonix tears in a potion make a potion fortified, or one of the actual healing ingredients to a potion?" luna thaught this might make some sense "or could the tears on their own may be hard to harvest?"

halfbloodprincess92 01-06-2006 07:12 PM

*raises hand*
"Maybe the pheonix tears are used so the potion only has to be onced instead of multiple times?"
I hope I'm somewhat close.

Simple_Spells 01-06-2006 07:14 PM

Emma thought that that made sense also. By now, though, she was dying to learn the answer.

griffin_girl 01-06-2006 07:15 PM

g_g raised her hand. "phoenixes are hard to find.....some people even think they're extinct. people use phoenix tears to heal, even though they can create a potion, because phoenix tears heal a person faster than any potion. " g_g said.

Ryan wished the professor would tell us the awnser, he was dieing for the Prof. to tell them the awnser, then they could crack on.

Nabs 01-06-2006 07:18 PM

Nabiya raised her hand, "But professor, aren't pheonix tears supposed to be expensive? And the burn healing paste is a household potion..wouldn't adding pheonix tears to it be defeating the purpose? Not many households would be able to afford to make it then.." She hoped she wasn't wrong..

Ozzy 01-06-2006 07:19 PM

Ozzy dipped his quill in green ink thoughtfully, The sctratching of his quill as it zoomed accros his Potions note book, to be the only thing heard from him so far as he took notes on what the Professor was saying.

HaefaLasweN 01-06-2006 07:24 PM

Haefalaswen listened really carefully and scribbled down furiously everything the professor said. She frowned slightly and listened to the hufflepuff prefect who just raised her hand... What she said definitly made sense...

griffin_girl 01-06-2006 07:26 PM

g_g took down notes. she also took down other student's question and left a few spaces for the professor's answer.

g_g blushed at this comment. "thanks...." she whispered to Ryan.

yashu 01-06-2006 07:27 PM

Yashu listens to other peoples answers, hoping that his answer was close to right.

R348753 01-06-2006 07:32 PM

luna looked around as a gryffindor girl appeared to read another gryffindors mind, 'eh, how can she do that?' thaught luna, 'unless shes a legillimens, but how can she be a legillimens? it takes years to learn' 'ahh well it doesnt matter' thaught luna again as she took down some notes and twirled her quill between her fingers absent mindedly

Lily's Eyez 01-06-2006 07:48 PM

Jara glanced around the room silently, forgetting all about the blank piece of parchment in front of her, which she needed to take notes with.

LadyNerd 01-06-2006 07:51 PM

Stacey raises her hand again in hopes that maybe her answer might be someone on the right track, "Maybe the Phoenix tears in a potion would make the potion itself strong for something or someone that has been severly poisoned?" She said with a puzzled look on her face. She started searching through some of her potions books for answers, but still taking notes when she heard other good answers from the other students.

Blackwidow 01-06-2006 08:14 PM

Julie raised her hand and said " A few drops of Pheonix tears can heal anything, no matter how serious the injury of the person is, therefore, adding phoenix tears in a potion allows the potions to get its healing powers". Julie stopped hoping she said that clearly.

Starbreeze 01-06-2006 08:19 PM

"Professor," Mithos began with his hand up. "There are other herbs that aid in the healing of burns such as yarrow, calendula, and gotu kola. Maybe some of those can also be used."

paranoia 01-06-2006 08:30 PM

Romys quill scratched over the parchment as she wrote all the informations down.

griffin_girl 01-06-2006 08:30 PM

g_g took down notes...she was writing as fast as she could.

Professor Branxton nodded and smiled as the students brought up some good ideas and seemed enthusiastic. "Actually, several people have already hit on the heart of the issue. Phoenix tears are very expensive and hard to come by. The reason we dilute them out and use them in potions rather than using them straight up is so that you can extend the use of the tears. One drop will do for a small wound on one person but, that same drop added to some potions will suffice to treat many people, even though the effect won't be quite as strong," Professor Branxton explained. "Since they are so expensive, they are only used in potions at St. Mungo's for the most serious of injuries, usually related to hexes or curses where ordinary healing potions have shown no effect."

"Now, I think it's about time we started our potion so, I'd like everyone to take out their cauldrons and add 200mL corn oil. Then, add 10 mallow stems with the leaves still intact. Make sure the mallow is submerged in the oil and leave it to steep at room temperature. Any questions so far?"
