Christy had caught up in her notes and was listening the others answers... She started to wish that someone would get the answer soon so the class could move on.

Professor Virohsa shook her head. "No.. Apparently some of you are confusing everything!", she snapped. "There are three different types of species", she said coldly. "The three species types are Gelsemium elegans, Gelsemium rankinii, and Gelsemium sempervirens", she stated. "These types of species are not the original name of Gelsemium!", she said with a frown.

"Gelsenium Spelmivians?" Asked Emma as she sat down in her chair, confused. She looked at the girl siting next to her. "What, is she talking about!"

Christy wrote down every word that came out of Professor Virohsa's mouth and searched again for the original name of Gelsemium. When she finally found a something about the Gelsemium origin she raised her hand and answered "Gelsemium is a latinized form of the Italian word for jasmine, gelsomino" She said a little unsure of her answer.

Taylor sat as his desk a tad confused, not knowing what to do.

Meghan raised her hand again figuring she would give it another go. "Was the origional name Bignonia. Carolus Linnaeus first classified G. sempervirens as Bignonia sempervirens in 1753; Antoine Laurent de Jussieu renamed the genus in 1789." Meghan hoped that was right. While she waited she sighed.

Professor Virohsa shook her head. "No.. And 5 pts will be taken from Ravenclaw for speaking out of turn". She looked at Meghan and nodded. "Gelsemium was known as Bignonia sempervirens from the Bignoniaceae family that was renamed by Antoine Laurent de Jussieu in 1789. Very well, 4 pts shall be awarded", she added.

"If you are poisoned by Gelsemium, what are the 8 symptoms that you will face?", she asked the class.

Meghan raised her hand again and said, "Poisonous doses of Gelsemium produce a sensation of languor, relaxation and muscular weakness, which may be followed by paralysis if the dose is sufficiently large. The face becomes anxious, the temperature subnormal, the skin cold and clammy and the pulse rapid and feeble. Dropping of the upper eyelid and lower jaw, internal squint, double vision and dilatation of the pupil are prominent symptoms. The respiration becomes slow and feeble, shallow and irregular, and death occurs from centric respiratory failure, the heart stopping almost simultaneously. Consciousness is usually preserved until late in the poisoning, but may be lost soon after the ingestion of a fatal dose. The effects usually begin in half an hour, but sometimes almost immediately."

Professor Virohsa frowned. "You only talked about two of the elements I was looking for.. among that whole list.. I want the specific 8. Does anyone else have any ideas?", she asked the class.

Christy thought hardly and raised her hand "The 8 symptoms are nausea, paralysis of muscles of mouth and throat, indistinct speech, difficult or impossible deglutition; precordial oppression, difficulty of respiration and delirium"

Julie looked back in her book then raised her hand and said "Gelsemium poisoning causes the following symptoms: spinal depressant, kills the respiratory centre of the medulla oblongata, sensation of languor, relaxation and muscular weakness, paralysis, anxious, temperature subnormality, cold skin and clammy with rapid feeble pulse. The effect usually starts within half an hour from poisoning and sometimes immediately". Julie paused recollecting she had 8 sypmtoms

While her quick quotes quill automatically jotted down everything for her, Jessica listened attentively and with interest. Herbology was not her strong subject, and she hardly knew any of the answers. So, quietly, she looked around at the answering students, winking warmly at Julie.

Maureen was ashamed for answering a wrong question. She listened carefully to what others said. She didn't want to make mistakes with questions anymore.

g_g simply took down notes listening.

Professor Virohsa nodded. "Good job Christy, 3 pts for Hufflepuf. Today, you will do two things. The first is make sure the flowers open and once they are open collect them. The second, is to cut the root into tiny pieces and collect it as well. However, before we start, are they any questions?", she asked the class.

c00kie shook her head. She was ready to get to work.

Christy looked at Professor Virohsa and smiled to herself. She had caught up in her notes and was waiting for the class to move on, trying to be as silent as she could be.

Laurasia took her notes dutifully. Not wanting to miss anything in them, & thus waiting to speak up, she had been unable to answer in regards to the symptoms of Gelsemium poisoning. "Ah well," she thought. "It won't be my last chance at getting housepoints for Slytherin."

She finished up her notes & awaited the hands on part of the class...the part that she enjoyed the most.

Professor Virohsa nodded as the students seemed prepared and without questions. "Very well, go ahead and get the flowers. The first thing that you will do is try to open the flower pods. I want you to focus on the reading and try different things based on the reading", she added. "Remember that your homework will be about opening the flowers. So make sure to know what you are doing.. it is 20 pts after all", she explained.

Christy nodded at the Professor, stood up and walked to the left side of the room to get a plant. She got a pot with a plant and carefully took it back to her seat. Professor Virohsa's plants were always interesting and she couldn't wait to see her flowers opening. Christy sat down and read carefully the textbook before driving her attention to the flowers.

c00kie got up and walked to one of the plants, she stared at her textbook for a minute while absorbing some of the instructions, "here goes." she mumbled to herself.

Professor Virohsa frowned. It seemed that some of the students did not know what to do. "I suggest you try to open them by giving them water, a little bit of wind, and a little bit of sunlight", she told the class. "And I suggest you collect the root by drying up the whole plant after you had collected the flower", she added.

Romy nodded and stood up. She walked over to the plants took one of them and placed it on the table. She knew that the plant was piosoed (sp?) so she put on her gloves. The next she make sure that the plant was standing in the sunlight. She stood up again went to the sink and filled the pitcher with water and then she watered the plant.
She took a second look at her textbook.

Professor Virohsa's temper was not something to meddle in at the moment.
Julie collected her plant quitely and brought it to her station. Hoping she will do the pod collection properly, she placed the flower and stared at it for a moment.

Right, she got her wand and placed it in a position the flower will get continous light.
"Now i am missing wind and water, i can get water but how am i suppose to get wind" Julie muttered to herself.
She went to the sinks brought some water and kept spraying it at the flower. She then raised her hand and asked the professor "Professor, do you have any suggestions on how i can get wind?. I am using my wand for light and my other hand to spray water".

Romy looked at Julie who was holding her wand to the plant.
" Come over here to me here is enough sunlight" She put her bookbag on the floor to make room for a second plant. "I dunno how to make wind" she whispered "maybe it is right if we open a window?" She pointed to window behind them. "Alohomora" and the window opend at once.
