Default Which do you prefer: the films or books? And why?

Which do you prefer, the films or the books?
And why?


Both hold special places in every Potterhead's heart, but which do you prefer? Do you enjoy revisiting Hogwarts on paper in the original 7 novels written by J.K Rowling or as a feast for the eyes in the 8 screen adaptions? Let us know and why!

Because they have both audio and visual elements, they provide a more immersive experience.

I like both, books are better cause you use your imagination. When I first saw the movies, it was nothing like I had pictured it in my mind.

I love both equally.
I re-read the books every year and we always watch all the films at Christmas

In the past it has been the books (LOTR), but in this case it is the movies and now may be the HBO Max series.

Perhaps it will change. I could not make past the Goblet book.

I love the books the most because that's where my whole journey started when I was a kid. The books are everything to me.

Books, because the movies exclude details like the movies do not have Rita Skeeter as an animagus, or Peeves

Personally, I very much prefer the films. Sure, there are details they do miss, but they're also presented in a way that feels more real and visceral, even. We don't have to imagine the emotion, we just have to see it.
