| | Which Harry Potter book is your favorite? And why? Which is your favorite Harry Potter book?
And why?
The original seven works of J.K. Rowling captivated the hearts of young and old alike, but just which of them captivated yours the most?! Why is that? Were you transported along with Harry and his companions as an 11-year-old into the wizarding world in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone? Perhaps learning the tragic back story of Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was more your cup of tea? Or maybe it was seeing it all come together in its epic conclusion with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows that truly captured you. Whatever the reason, this is your space to share your favorite book and why! Rules & Guidelines for this thread:- Before posting, please make sure you have read through the Newbie Process, Snitchseeker's Rules & FAQ, and perused the Site Resources forum.
- This is not a questions thread. If you don't understand something and/or have a real question, go to The Question Thread.
- This is not a discussion thread. Rather, this is a place for you to share your personal experience and and opinion on the original 7 Harry Potter book series. Please do not talk about Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Cursed Child, Quidditch Through the Ages, etc. in this thread. There is a place for you to share about those right here.
- Likewise, this is not a place to share your views on the original 8 Harry Potter films. Just the books. There is a place to share your favorite film and why right here, however.

It's very, very hard to choose a favorite, so instead I'll talk about some of the things that stand out to me as favorite parts in the series: The entire whimsical, eager tone of adventure and discovery the first book has, the tonal shift and introduction of Sirius and Remus in PoA, and Dumbledore's Army in OotP were all really, really interesting reads, and the reason i draw myself back to those particular books more than the others. For nostalgia's sake, however, it's hands-down Chamber of Secrets, which was the first book I read in the series (it had gotten thrown out for growing mold by our librarian, and I didn't think it was right to throw away a book without reading it so I snatched it from the bin. I was just a tot at the time, and thought reading books from a trash can was perfectly acceptable.)

I actually love two of them - "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" and "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban". And of course I love everything which can be related to Harry Potter's theme, like this best harry potter house quiz I could find recently. It asks dozens of really interesting questions, doing some kinda quiz and after passing it - you can really answer yourself are you an expert of Harry Potter's universe, or not

Hogwarts RPG Name: Brandon Fox Hufflepuff Fifth Year Hogwarts RPG Name: Phoebe Calypso [s]Dupont[/s] Slytherin Third Year | Which came first, the phoenix or the flame?
I like the first book because it's kinda an intro to the series and like it's the beggining. Also this might sound weird but I like reading the acceptance letter and school supplies list.
I liked the first book because it was the beginning and thats always my favorite part.

Anything that gets us exploring the world outside of Hogwarts is the best. DH is the most appropriate installation.

I love 'Prisoner Of Azkaban' will always be my favorite, I think mostly because it's a good level of happiness, and an enjoyable school year, before everything starts getting darker.

I like The Prisoner Of Azkaban the most because harry's only living family are rude muggles who hate but when he finds out he has a godfather he feels loved for one of the first times.

i love all the books but my favorite by far is the deathly hallows. i like it because it is the longest and there is a really cool fight. there is a part with explanations that the movies do not have when harry fights voldemort.

I voted for the Half-Blood Prince as I think it is the most amusing and it has some serious moments.

Order of the Phoenix is my favorite book because I really enjoy the ministry battle. This book is also the one where J.K Rowling starts transitioning into darker topics and I find that transition really interesting.

Chamber of Secrets, 100%. Some unknown force going around paralyzing people (and a ghost and a cat), Harry hearing a creepy voice that no one else can hear, the egotistical duffus Lockhart, everyone thinking that poor Harry is evil. It all ties together for a very interesting and mysterious story.

I Love the 4th book because of the perspective of different wizard countries and communities . I like the Triwizard tournament and how the trio.deals with Ludo Bagman and Rita Skeeter. I would love to meet Barty Crouch Sr. When he was kind and learning many languages.

Hmmm I think I'm split between Order of the Phoenix because this was a big turning point in the series when things started heating up and getting serious and we were introduced to so many new characters and plot points. And between Deathly Hallows because everything happening over the last six books finally came together and there were so many amazing twists that just blew my mind lol

I do absolutely love all of the books, but Deathly Hallows I just seemed to not be able to put the book down once I started and I believe that was the largest of them all.

I think I would have to say either Prisoner of Azkaban, due to the real depth added to the story at that point, or Deathly Hallows, as I genuinely find the conclusion of the story to be one of the more satisfactory in fiction.

In the past, Half-Blood Prince is the one I found myself going back to most often.
Even though Order of the Phoenix is my favorite film, I wasn't a huge fan of the original book; it just seemed to be taking things a little too seriously to be enjoyable. I know it was meant to be centered around the ramifications of Voldemort's return, but Half-Blood Prince managed that better without taking such a steep dive in terms of mood and while still portraying all the normal goings-on at Hogwarts.
There are other things I like about it too, like how it explored the details of Tom Riddle's backstory, and that it did away with the frustrating element of Harry, Ron, and Hermione suspecting someone of doing something nefarious, only to be proven completely wrong at the end of the year. It was always difficult to stomach that plot thread in the previous books, and I was glad to see Year 6 take a subversive stab at it.

Order of the Phoenix is my favorite because they stood up and started to fight together. I really like that they did that.

I love gore, and the 4th book is where everyone starts to die so even though I'm sad Cedric died, that would be my fave.

Definitely PoA. Sirius is introduced to us with such a bang. Its a shame the next major plot critical event he's apart of involves his death.
