Hi, my name is Curlz. This story started after a dream that I had two years ago after watching Goblet of Fire. I originally posted this on Dissendium and got pretty far. This story starts out in the third year and is basically, as the title explains, the story that the books didn't tell. I try to incorporate as much canon as I can without interfering too much. As I said, this story is a two year work-in-progress. This is a story of a girl named Raven. I wish I could tell you more but then I would take the fun out of reading the story.
Enjoy and be kind! Please.
And I guess I should throw in here that JK's characters belong to her. I do not own them.

The Story You Haven't Heard
Chapter 1
The inn and pub at the Leaky Cauldron had been especially busy the week before term began at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Many parents and students passed through the pub to make the journey to King’s Cross station a little easier, especially if they lived far away and didn’t want to use the Floo Network. Sometimes they would just stop by for some tea before returning home.
Up the creaky stairs, down the long, narrow corridor, a housekeeper stepped out of one of the rooms. She was fairly tall with long auburn hair, tied into a messy ponytail. Her pale complexion didn’t hide her fatigue, and her rolling eyes didn’t hide her frustration with the manner in which the rooms were kept during their occupation.
The woman stepped up to a door, her last room of the day. This was either going to be easy or quite hard. The guest had been staying at the inn for a week and never let anyone inside. The guest, a young girl, would leave for a couple of hours in the day, but would request no cleaning. Anytime the housekeeper knocked, the guest would open the door, hand the housekeeper two towels and ask for two more. Although the housekeeper hoped that the routine wouldn’t change this particular day, she was curious to know how the room was being kept up. She always wondered how much work she was going to have to do once the guest left.
The housekeeper knocked on the door and heard shuffling of footsteps on the other side. As usual, the girl opened the door and gave the housekeeper two towels and asked for two more. As the transaction was being made, the housekeeper stretched her neck over the young girls head to get an idea of the order of the room. The young guest noticed this and immediately grabbed the towels from the housekeeper’s hands and slammed the door.
“You’re welcome,” said the housekeeper sarcastically.
The housekeeper knew very little about the girl staying in that room. She knew she was around fifteen and getting ready to start her first year at Hogwarts. She grew up with her father in the United States and now lives with her uncle. The maid found it particularly odd that this girl arrived with no adult supervision and has had no visitors all week. The maid tried to press Tom, the barkeeper at the Leaky Cauldron, for information but Tom would offer none.
The housekeeper arrived downstairs and put the dirty towels in the basket.
“Melinda,” said Tom to the housekeeper, “have you finished your duties for the day?”
“I have. But that girl was awfully rude to me. Snatched the towels right out of my hand and slammed the door on me.”
“She’s a sweet girl. What did you do?”
“I only tried to stake out the room to see how disorderly it had become. It was nothing that would cause her to have that reaction.”
“I think your curiosity got the better of you,” Tom smiled and helped Melinda lift the basket on a counter. “You just leave her be until tomorrow. She’ll be gone then.”
Melinda rolled her eyes and prepared the linens for washing.
“I’ll need your help with dinner service tonight,” said Tom. “We are going to have a full house. The Weasley family will be joining us.”
“Oh, I hope those twins don’t try anything funny. It took me weeks to get the tables in their room off the ceiling the last time they were here.”
Meanwhile, upstairs, the young girl sat in a chair reading a book. Occasionally, she would look out the window and get lost in the sky. But her eyes would always turn to her half-packed trunk and her bed which was strewn with clothes. She debated as to whether or not she should finish packing. “I don’t have time in the morning, but I can’t stand doing it now.”
After a few moments, she finally got up and started folding her clothes. “It’s not like I have anything better to do.”
Just then, there was another knock on her door. She slammed the shirt she was holding, down onto her trunk out of frustration. Thinking it was the housekeeper, she marched to the door and threw it open.
“Oh, Harry,” she said quite relieved, “I though you were that nosey maid. Come in.”
Harry was a young man that she had met while staying at the Leaky Cauldron. They hung out a little here and there, mainly trying to keep each other company. He seemed shocked that she didn’t know who he was, apparently she was supposed to. At first she thought that it seemed arrogant of him to assume she knew who he was, but after careful explanation from him, she realized why.
Apparently, this boy survived an attack from the dark wizard, Voldemort. Voldemort had killed his parents and then tried to kill him. He miraculously survived and became somewhat of a celebrity, something he never felt real comfortable with. She was actually quite shocked that she had never heard his story before.
Harry came in and only took a few steps into her room. “Hi Raven. How are you?”
“Okay. Just doing some packing and preparing for school. What are you up to?”
“I was heading out to Diagon Alley to see if I might be able to find my friends. Maybe you can come with me and meet them.
Raven looked over at her unpacked trunk. “I really have a lot to do before tomorrow. Besides, I‘ve spent enough time and money in Diagon Alley. I hope you don’t mind but I think I’m just going to stay here and get some stuff done.”
“Are you sure? I mean, you won’t get bored hanging around here all day?”
“I’ll be fine. As you can see, I am nowhere near packed. I need to think about that before I do anything else today.”
“That’s fine. I’ll catch you later, then.”
“Bye and have fun!”
Harry left and Raven locked the door behind him. She plopped onto her bed and sat momentarily thinking about school. She really didn’t want to go. She never had a formal wizarding education. Her father taught her everything. Once he died and she was sent to live with her uncle, she was forced to attend Hogwarts. At first that seemed like no big deal, until it was decided she would start out as a third year, instead of fifth. It was explained to her and it had something to do with the lack of preparation for some kind of test that fifth years take. People never clearly explained it to her, they just told her how it was going to be. No matter how she looked at it, she was going to be the oldest third year ever, and she felt embarrassed.
Later that day, Raven finally finished her packing and started rummaging around the room to make sure she hadn’t forgotten anything. She happened to glance out the window and noticed the sun had already begun to set. Her stomach started to rumble with hunger. The day was starting to escape her. She decided it was time to go downstairs and eat some dinner.
“I wonder where she is?” asked Harry.
“Who?” asked his friend Ron.
“Raven, she’s this girl that’s been staying here for the last week. She’s nice, although I don’t know hardly anything about her.”
“You’ve had all week to talk to her and you don’t know anything about her?” inquired his other friend Hermione.
“She keeps a lot to herself.” Harry took a drink of his pumpkin juice. “She didn’t even know who I was.”
“How is that possible?” asked Ron. “Everyone knows you.”
“Well she didn’t.” Melinda, the housekeeper, brought the three young wizards their food. “She was raised in the States by her father. And by talking to her, you would never know she was raised there by her accent. However, she’s not like any witch you’ll see here. She’s different.”
“What do you mean ‘different’?” Ron looked at Hermione confused.
“I can’t really explain it. She just doesn’t look like a witch. She looks like-”
Mid-sentence, Harry looked toward the stairs and saw Raven coming down. She didn’t look like any other young witch the three had ever seen. She had long, black hair with blue and red highlights. Her fair skin brought out her dark blue eyes, which almost seemed to peer into the depths of a person’s soul. Her attire is what really got the three’s attention. She was wearing baggy black pants, and a pale blue t-shirt which had the word “freak” in bold black letters. She had a way of making the room take notice without doing anything. Most of the Leaky Cauldron stared at her in silence. Not only was she beautiful but no one could tell if she was a witch or a muggle who lost her way.
“-a muggle,” Harry finished.
Raven walked over to the table where Harry was seated. “Hi Harry. Sorry I’m late. Time got away from me.”
Raven sat next to Harry and waved at Tom to bring her some dinner.
“That’s okay. We only just got our food. Raven, these are my friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.”
Raven shook their hands. It’s nice to finally meet you. Harry has told me so much about you.”
Harry pointed to another table, “The young girl with the red hair is Ron’s sister Ginny and the guy sitting next to her is Percy, Ron’s brother. He’s going to be Head Boy at Hogwarts this year.”
Raven only shook her head. She had no clue what that meant.
“Sitting in the corner,” Harry continued, “looking as though they are plotting something are Ron’s twin brothers Fred and George. If there is a prank at school, it’s likely they were behind it.”
Raven looked over at the corner where the twins were seated. One of the twins, she couldn’t tell who was which, was looking at her. The other one realized this and nudged him to get his attention. Raven smiled softly and turned back to her new friends.
“So, Raven, Harry has told us so little about you. Where are you from?” asked Hermione.
“I was born here but raised in the States.” Tom placed a plate of food in front of Raven.
“You’re starting Hogwarts this year?” Hermione asked again.
“Yes. To answer your next question, I should be a fifth year. And to answer your next question, I will start out as a third year. As a follow-up answer, I don’t know why, I just am.”
“Hermione, what’s with the interrogation?” asked Ron. “Let the girl eat.”
“It’s okay, Ron. She’s just inquisitive. I’m new and it’s natural to be curious.” Raven gave Hermione a reassuring smile.
“How can they make you start out school in a year younger than your own?” Hermione inquired.
“Something about an owl,” Raven shrugged, “or a test about an owl. I don‘t know.”
Ron, Harry and Hermione laughed. “Sorry, we’re not laughing at you. It’s called the Ordinary Wizarding Levels examination or O.W.L.’s. It’s a test you take in your fifth year.” Hermione explained.
“Oh, I guess that would explain everything.” Raven shrugged it off. “They wanted me to have years to prepare for it. Guess it’s pretty important.”
Hermione explained more about the O.W.L.’s but Raven really didn’t give the appearance that she cared any. The four continued to talk more, Hermione still attempting to get more information out of Raven. Harry, Ron and Hermione couldn’t understand why she wasn’t divulging much about herself.
“Well, it’s getting late and I have to get some sleep.” Raven got up from the table and gathered her dishes. “I’ll see you all in the morning. It was good meeting all of you.”
Harry, Ron and Hermione watched as Raven took her dishes over to Tom. She looked at the three friends and gave a small smile. Raven then looked over to the corner where the twins were still seated. The one twin looked back at her and when their eyes met, they both smiled broadly. As she went out of sight the three friends looked dumbfounded.
The curious twin, George, walked over to the trio. “Who was she?”
Ron looked over at his two friends, who still didn’t know exactly what to say. “We have no idea.” Chapter 2 |

Okay. I'm totally with Suzy, comment-wise. When reading chapter 19, I totally was thinking "Smite Draco and Lucius" Cause they are just so evil and irritating.
Chapter 20, Parvati and Lavender really did deserve what they got, but that's only a side comment to the whole. I actually felt sorry for Snape when Raven snapped at him, though. And I really want to know the deal with the ring and the spell.
*camps out again*

Chapter 21
Two months into the term had passed. Since her first night back at Hogwarts, Raven spent most of her days avoiding everyone. Food became the last thing on her mind. She would rarely show up to lunch and if she went to dinner she would pick at her food. Most days she would just grab some fruit or some bread and slip quietly out of sight.
The gossip around the school shifted earlier in the year from her break-up with George and rebounding to Draco, to the Triwizard Tournament. Hogwarts is going to play host to a tournament in which one representative from each of the three wizarding schools in Europe was going to compete in several challenges over the year. The announcement of the three school champions wasn’t going to be made for a little while, which made Raven happy because it meant her news would not exist, at least in the minds of the students. Representatives from the schools and their headmasters were going to be arriving in a week. The entire buzz around the school was meeting these foreign wizards. Raven could have cared less about the tournament. She had other pressing issues to contend with.
Her luck of avoiding everyone came to a crashing halt, though, when Draco caught up to her after Potions. She had gone almost two months without speaking to anyone and now she had no choice.
“Raven…I would like you to join me for lunch today.”
“I actually had plans today,” she said starting to walk away. He stepped in front of her and had an arrogant smile on his face.
“I don’t think I asked. You haven’t been to lunch in weeks and you are starting to look pale. I can’t have you getting sick on me.”
“Oh, yes. Your father would be so upset. You wouldn’t want him to think that you had anything to do with me getting ill.”
“Raven, darling,” he said reaching out to hold her hand.
Her anger was starting to rise and a wave of dizziness came over her. She took a wobbly step back then forward. Raven held her head trying to refocus.
“Now come,” he said pulling her along. “You're obviously hungry and you need to sit. We’ll go to lunch and you’ll feel better.”
Her head was spinning. She couldn’t tell what direction she was going in, if Draco hadn't pointed it out to her.
They made it to the Great Hall and sat down to eat. Draco filled her plate with various foods and Raven stared at it like it was foreign to her. She wanted to eat but had no energy at the moment to pick up the fork.
“Raven! Darling…eat,” Draco demanded.
“I am not hungry!” she said slamming her hand on the table. “Second…do not call me darling. I am no ones ‘darling.’ Now, please excuse me. I have work to do!”
“Well now, before you leave I have something I need to talk to you about,” he said grabbing her arm and pulling her back down. Raven rolled her eyes and gave him a look that told him to go somewhere. “As you know, we have a lot to do in all of our classes and I am having a heck of a time trying to get my History of Magic essay done. Do it for me.”
“Funny,” she said getting back up.
“Once again, I didn’t ask,” he said making her sit again. “Don’t do it and I get some serious revenge on Weasley.”
“For doing what? He hasn’t touched you.”
"He put Ton-Tongue Toffee in my Bertie Bots Every Flavor Beans last week.”
“Draco! You know that some first year did that! You pushed the little guy in the mud for tripping over your foot, that just so happened to be in his way."
“So? Who gave the candy to him?”
“The guys are testing them on first years. You ticked that kid off and he slipped it in your candy. And no…I can’t do your essay. That’s cheating and I am not about to stoop to your level just so you can take advantage of me.”
“It’s not taking advantage of you…okay well, maybe I am,” the little laugh that he gave rubbed Raven the wrong way. “You’re the one who made the promise. I never would have made a suggestion like that.”
“How many times do I have to fulfill one promise? First it was at the beginning of term when I had to walk into the Great Hall hand-in-hand with you. Second, it was to get me down here and now you’re throwing it up again. Really Draco, find a hobby.”
Raven tried to leave again but now Draco used more force in his approach. He pulled her down with a hard yank. He then got up very close to her face. His eyes were filled with evil. Raven noticed his top lip was quivering.
“I am tired of your attitude! Now listen up and listen good. You are not in the position to negotiate with me. I can make you hurt. I can make every bone in your body ache. I can-”
“Fine! I’ll do it because I know what you’ll do if I don’t,” she said finally getting up without restraint from Draco. He grabbed her hand again and she pulled away quickly. “Kiss it, and I will ensure that you will never walk down any aisle, ever! Negotiate that!
Raven walked away as fast as she could. Her energy level was already quite low and needed to rest. However, now that she has more homework to do, she didn’t know when that would happen.
As she walked back toward the Gryffindor common room, she made a stop to rest against a wall. All of a sudden she felt a jerk on her arm and before she knew it she was in an abandoned classroom and George was standing in front of her.
“George! What are you doing? What if Draco comes looking for me? He’s already mad at you.”
“He won’t find us,” he said grabbing her hands. “I know I promised you that I would stay away, but I am watching you waste away and can’t stand it. I’m worried about you.”
“Don’t be. I’ve been working hard trying to find an answer to all this. So I‘m not taking the best care of myself, I'm here aren't I?”
“I know you haven’t been sleeping. Hermione told me she has woken up in the night and you are either wide awake in bed, sitting by the window or you’re not there at all. And we haven't seen you at meal times. You’re scaring me.”
“I’m not hungry, ever. And every time I sleep,” she took a deep breath and let it out slowly, “I see Draco or I have this strange recurring nightmare.” The longer they spoke the more she felt like she was being watched. But part of her was happy to get this off her chest. She had gone so long without human interaction, that she was relieved to just speak to a friendly face.
“I have missed you. Are you sure you’re okay?” he asked. Raven could see the pain in his eyes and was doing everything she could not to give in to him. He loved her so much and she loved him too. But if she was being watched like Narcissa Malfoy said, she had to refrain from mentally or physically giving in to her love for him.
“George, I miss you, too,” she said. Raven knew at that moment that resisting him would not work. Before she could react, they were locked in an embrace. “I have missed you so much.”
Tears began to flow from her eyes. Raven's heart ached like it was about to break. To be in his arms after so long was like a forbidden piece of heaven shining down on her; in total bliss, but surrounded by fear. After a moment, he released her and gently caressed her face. Her eyes closed, she pictured George and herself as the only ones on earth, with no problems, no worries, and no fears. For a moment all was back to normal, at least in her heart. George gently kissed her and she felt complete happiness. Nothing could go wrong until her hand began to throb and soon the throb turned into piercing pain. She doubled over and began to hold her hand tightly. The pain was so strong she wanted to scream, but it was taking her breath away. The room was getting dark and the only thing she could hear was a voice, not George’s, although she could see his mouth moving.
“How disappointing,” said the voice. “You are not meant for him.”
“Shut up!” she yelled putting her hands over her ears. “Shut up!”
The room was fading to black. She saw George and then she saw nothing.
Raven found herself back in the maze. Once again, her strength was nearly depleted but she was running as hard and as fast as her body would let her. The same voice that was talking to her kept telling her how disappointed he was.
“If you would not fight this you would not be in pain. Let yourself go to your destiny.”
She kept telling it to shut up, but it kept going. She finally arrived at the mysterious light and once again saw the two figures getting ready to touch the center of it. She tried to tell them to stop but the words were not escaping her mouth. She ran towards the light and tripped. Looking up she saw Draco with his hand outstretched to her.
“Grab a hold of your destiny. It's yours. Take it,” said the voice.
She stood and started to grab his hand when she heard George’s voice.
“Rave! I’m here! Don’t do it! I love you, remember?”
She turned and saw George. Raven began to walk towards him when she was stopped by the strange voice.
“He is not meant for you! He is not your destiny! Take Draco’s hand!”
“NO!” she yelled.
“TAKE IT!” the voice was angrier.
“Raven!” yelled George.
“TAKE IT, NOW!”
“NO! SHUT UP!" she yelled again. Only this time she woke up to find George and her uncle kneeling over her.
“Raven! Wake up!” said Snape.
She sat up confused and in pain. Her hand was still throbbing and her head hurt. Apparently, she blacked out so fast that George couldn’t catch her in time and she fell and hit her head on the floor. Her body was shaking and was in total shock as to what just happened.
“Raven what happened?” asked Snape.
“Watching...”
“What are you saying?” Snape asked again.
“Watching...disappointed...” she said with her hands over her ears. Raven's mind was still in the dream but what she was seeing in front of her was not what she was seeing in her mind. “I don’t want to take it. Tell him I don’t want to take it.”
“Mr. Weasley I want you to take her to your common room and tell Miss Granger to give her this vial of sleeping draught. She needs rest and plenty of it.” he said. Raven heard these words and began to cry.
“I don’t want to sleep, Uncle. He finds me when I sleep,” she said. Raven knew exactly what was being said but she didn't understand why they were saying she needed sleep. Did they not see what happens when she closes her eyes? All she could see in her mind was Draco holding out his hand. “I’m not sleeping!”
“Raven you need to sleep!” Snape bellowed. “Talk to her Mr. Weasley!”
“No! You can’t make me sleep!” she said standing up. She was still pretty weak from passing out and could barely stand. George tried to help her but she pulled away. “You want me to sleep too! I’m not doing it and you can’t make me!”
“I agree with your uncle that it’s the best thing for you,” George said trying to hold her steady. Raven wouldn't let George touch her. She turned around long enough to give Snape and George a dangerous look.
Raven got to the door and George and Snape tried to stop her but with what physical and mental energy she had left, she pushed them back with a wandless, wordless spell. It only knocked them both back far enough so she could escape the classroom. She ran as fast as her weak body would let her. She knew she was late for a class, but she couldn't remember which one. After stopping for a moment to think about it, she decided to leave it alone and get some air. She went to her only place of refuge; a rock by the lake. To her this was the only place at Hogwarts where she felt safe and alone.
“They are not going to make me sleep!” she said out loud.
For the first time since knowing George, she was mad at him. He hated Snape. And now it seemed the two of them were teaming up against her. Soon he was going to tell her it was okay to give in to Draco. She couldn’t hate George. He was only trying to look out for her. But after seeing what happens when she closes her eyes, he should have known not to get her to take the sleeping draught.
Raven's body was still shaking. All she could see was her dream. Whatever was happening to her was happening quicker than she would have expected. Raven's thoughts drifted back to what happened in that classroom. She passed out when George kissed her. She has the same bad reaction when she goes against the spell as well as when Lucius and Draco kiss the ring. Nothing made sense anymore. She almost wanted to give up and not fight it anymore. But she swore she was not going to let the Malfoys win and she had to keep that promise to herself and to George.
“You weren’t in class today,” said Harry, who came up behind her and gave her an awful fright.
“Yeah, didn’t feel like going.”
“You didn’t miss much.”
“I’ll get it later.”
“Snape and George are looking for you. It's odd to see them after the same thing.”
“They have been bonding a lot lately. I think I liked it better when they hated each other.”
“They both have a common link…you.”
“Don’t give me that, Harry!” She was clearly tired of everyone at that point. “You are only saying this because you want me to go in there and take that sleeping potion.”
“What are you talking about?”
Raven stared at him for a moment and she realized that he, indeed, had no clue as to what she was talking about.
“They’ll find you eventually,” Harry said after a moment. “You can’t spend the rest of the year out here.”
“I know that. But I’ve done a great job avoiding everyone for the last two months until today. Maybe if I try real hard, I can slip around the castle completely unnoticed.”
“What about Potions? Snape’s your teacher. How will you avoid him then?”
“He’ll have to catch me,” she said with a small smile. Harry smiled back at her but she knew that he was right. Eventually they would catch up to her and she would have to explain herself, but they would have to accept it.
Harry and Raven got up and walked back up to the castle. By that time it was near dinner. Raven still wasn’t hungry but if it meant that people would leave her alone about not eating, she would force something down.
Raven sat as close as she could to the door of the Great Hall in case she felt like making a quick escape. The food, she thought, was good but as usual, she found herself picking at it. She glanced at the staff table and noticed her uncle looking directly at her. Then, looking down her table, she found she had an audience of George, his siblings, Harry and Hermione. The fumes were boiling inside of her. She felt like an experiment that had to be examined closely. Raven put as many vegetables on her spoon as she possibly could fit and stood up. Looking to everyone who was looking at her, she shoved the spoonful of food in her mouth. After she swallowed her bite, she grabbed a piece of bread and left. It was Raven's hateful way of telling everyone to get off her back because now they can’t say that she doesn’t eat.
Instead of heading to the common room, she went to the library. It was quiet due to all of the students still being at dinner and she could get some work done. She worked on hers and Draco’s History of Magic essay and started working on some homework for Divination. She found that when she was angry the homework seemed to get done faster. Soon she was left with nothing and just in time as students started piling in to study. She gathered up her books and started for the door when she was stopped by Draco.
“Here’s your essay,” she said pulling it out of her bag and shoving it at him. “I hope I don’t have to do that again.”
Raven didn’t give Draco a chance to respond. She immediately left and went back to the common room. When she got there, some were working on their homework or just visiting before turning in to bed. She, instead, decided to go to her dormitory and get into more comfortable clothes.
“Raven? You in here?” Hermione asked.
“Yeah, I’m here.”
“Snape wanted me to give this to you,” Hermione said nervously.
“If it’s sleeping draught, I don’t want it.”
“He just told me to give it to you.” She sat a letter and a vial on Raven’s bed, and then quietly slipped out of the room. Raven almost became angry again, but thought she would humor Snape and at least read the letter.
Raven,
I don’t understand why you don’t want to sleep but since it means that much to you I took the liberty of brewing a potion for you that will give you a dreamless sleep. I would give you enough for the whole year but it is not recommended for daily use. People have gone mad taking this every day. Take it tonight and at least have one night of decent sleep.
Severus
Raven stared at the letter and wondered if it was true. Would this potion actually give her a dreamless sleep, or in the off chance that she would have a nightmare, would she be able to wake up from it?. She didn’t know what to do.
“What did he say when he gave this to you?” Raven asked Hermione who was peeking her head into the room.
“He asked me to check on you every once in a while throughout the night. He wants to make sure you sleep well.” Hermione emerged from the door and walked to Raven’s side.
“What if I have a nightmare? What if you don’t wake up to wake me up?”
“You won't have one and I will wake up. Here is a glass of water. He said it won’t taste good."
Raven took the glass and the vile. She stared at it for a moment and looked at Hermione. “If I do this, will people back off for a while?”
“Yes."
Without hesitation, Raven drank from the vile, and then quickly drank the glass of water. Almost immediately she started to feel the effects of the potion. Hermione helped Raven get comfortable. She then sat on the edge of the bed and held her hand. But soon, Raven's eyes and head became heavier and the darkness of sleep took her. Chapter 22

Hey all. Sorry about the delay on the next chapter. Between being sick, going out of town and the fact that I'm dreadfully exhausted by the time I get home from work, I haven't had time to look over the next chapter that much. I plan on looking it over these next few nights while my husband isn't home to bug me. Hopefully (cross your fingers) I can have it posted Wednesday. Thanks for your patience.

First of all, thanks for the well wishes and hugs. I felt them, I really did!!!
Second, I wish you knew how many times I have written and rewritten this chapter. I stopped counting after six. Either tonight or tomorrow I'm going to get after it and work on it on my lunch break b/c it's bugging me. All I can think is spaghetti: I'm trying to flavor up the sauce and keep from making the same old spaghetti. Make sense??? It does to me. Maybe I'm trying too hard. I'll keep you posted.

Okay...it's here. Finally. (If anyone is left to read it) This chapter is short. After all this time working on it and this is all I could get. For some reason this was really hard. I found that the original had a lot of repetition and I needed to purge myself of the same ol' same ol'. Okie doke enough chatter. Here it is.
---------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 22
The next week was pretty quiet. Raven’s typical day did not change and the one night of sleep she had seemed to rejuvenate her for a couple of days. Going to sleep was still a struggle, though. The dream that she has been having still haunted her. Although one thing she could not explain in her dream was the light, the two figures surrounding it, and why she didn’t want them to touch it. As usual, it was something she had to leave alone for now.
The school was buzzing with conversation today because the students from the other schools were arriving for the Triwizard Tournament. Raven didn’t care too much. You’ve seen one wizard, you’ve seen them all.
All of the students gathered outside the castle to welcome the arrival of the other students. As she stood out there, she noticed that Draco was pretty far away. There was no way he could see her. This was a good thing, because George bumped the back of her knee.
"What are you doing?" It was the first time Raven laughed in months.
"I wanted to say hi."
"Hello to you."
George leaned in close to her ear. With one of his hands he grabbed her hand and with the other her shoulder. "Have I told you lately how much I've missed you?"
"Yes, and you saw what happened." The smile on Raven's face wouldn't leave. She didn't care at this point if she was being watched.
"Meet me in the common room tonight after everyone goes to bed."
“Why? I mean, not that I don’t want to. I do, but you know what happens when we are together.”
“We won’t let it happen. I promise.”
Raven smiled and the two continued to watch the international visitors arrive. She was in a moment of bliss that she hasn’t felt in a while. Suddenly the ring made her hand twinge but she shook it off. Her eyes drifted over to Draco, who looked down at his hand, then looked around the room. He was looking for her, she knew it. Raven carefully side-stepped to get out of his view. Something about his actions bothered her. Her only question was, why?
At dinner that evening, the Great Hall was decorated to welcome the new arrivals. Raven sat with some students she barely knew and only showed up because it was a big event. She looked around the hall and everyone was happy. George and her friends, who were sitting quite a ways down, also seemed eager to welcome the tournament hopefuls. Draco was even excited. He was more looking forward to meeting the students from Durmstrang, wanting to go there himself but his mother refused. The students sitting around her tried to talk to her, but Raven wasn’t giving them a reason to continue any conversation.
“Are you excited?” asked one, dark-haired Gryffindor.
“About what?”
“You know, meeting the other students.”
Raven couldn’t understand why everyone was getting their pants in a bunch because of a few international wizards and witches. Without giving him any emotion, she simply replied, “no.”
The kid seemed confused because he kept bugging her about it. “Why would you not be excited?”
Raven looked at the boy a little annoyed at his persistence. “Why are you?”
“It’s exciting to have visitors here from other places. We get to see what foreign wizards are like.”
Raven laughed. “These people are not animals at a zoo; they are human beings like you. The only difference is that they speak a different language. Woo-hoo. You still have to go to class. You still have homework. What has changed besides the dinner tonight being a little more special? Get excited if they cancel school or if they bring in a circus act. Don’t get excited for dinner.”
The boy’s expression went blank and his face went red. Raven didn’t think he had ever been told off before.
All of the students watched as the schools were announced and the visitors came in. The boys were hypnotized by the beauty of the Beauxbaton’s. Guys were seen with mouths open and unblinking. When the students from Durmstrang came in, everyone started buzzing when they saw Viktor Krum. Raven didn’t know what the fuss was about until she overheard students saying that he was a Seeker for the Bulgarian Quidditch team and caught the snitch at the World Cup this past summer. The fact that she missed that big event was a reminder of the current situation she was in.
Once all the students were seated, Professor Dumbledore stood in front of the hall and commanded everyone’s attention. The students quickly hushed and listened intently to what the headmaster had to say. Dumbledore let everyone in on the rules concerning submission of their names into the Goblet of Fire for the Triwizard Tournament. Then dinner was served and everyone dived into their meal. Raven nibbled on a little bit of the food and only ate enough to satisfy herself which wasn’t a lot. Once finished, the students began to file to their respective common rooms.
Raven arrived to the common room and immediately went upstairs and changed for bed. When everyone settled into bed she gathered her books and went downstairs to start on her homework. The lack of sleep and nourishment was starting to physically affect her. She was really trying to make an effort but couldn’t force food down or make herself sleep. There was nothing she could do. She had to work harder in her classes due to her lack of concentration. Her mental strength was clouded with the thoughts and emotions of everyone around her. She wanted to figure out a way to sleep without dreaming that one dream. To sleep meant to dream and to dream meant seeing herself with Draco. As she tried to remember her moments with George, thoughts of Draco became stronger. After long moments of fighting it, she finally fell asleep.
Once again she was back in the maze. This time she wanted to find out what the light was all about. Her hand was still throbbing and she was nearly about to collapse from exhaustion and pain. As she approached the light, she screamed at the figures but no sound came out of her mouth. Realizing this, she ran over to the light and tripped. She crawled towards the light but now it was gone. All that was left was a rock. She was about to touch the rock when she heard a voice.
“Raven!”
She turned to see Draco holding out his hand.
“Rave!”
Behind him, she saw George.
“Rave!”
She lurched out of her dream and saw George standing next to her.
“George,” she said rubbing her eyes and pretending that nothing just happened, "is everyone in bed?"
"Yeah, I wanted to see you alone."
"What if we get caught?"
"It's late. I'm sure Lucius and Draco are asleep. Can't watch you if they’re asleep."
Raven and George made their way over to the fireplace where George, it seemed, had made them a little midnight picnic.
"This is so sweet, George. Thank you."
All seemed to be back to normal. They talked about the usual things: school, life and pranks. They both tried desperately to forget all that has happened in the last few months for the sake of this one moment.
"You were having that dream again weren't you?" It seemed that George couldn’t hold back anymore. He tried so hard to contain himself, obviously it didn’t work too well.
"George, don't change the subject. The night is going so well."
"What happens in the dream?"
"I don't know really."
“Rave, I may not be a Legilimens but I know you’re lying,” he said, putting his hand on her shoulder.
"If I understood this dream I would tell you. All I can tell you is I'm running, there is a light and there is you and Draco. That's it!"
George gave Raven a confused and worried look. She could tell he wasn't accepting her answer.
"It's getting late. We should go to bed." George stood up and held out his hand.
Raven grabbed his hand and with one pull, Raven was up and quite close to George.
"Rave?"
"Yeah, cutie?"
"No matter what happens, my heart is yours. I don't want it back."
With those words, George kissed Raven gently on the cheek. When they pulled apart, Raven stood there in complete bliss. Suddenly the ring began to burn her finger. It felt as if she was being jabbed by a hundred knives. She closed her eyes in an effort to ignore the pain. But the sudden clinched fist couldn’t mask what she was feeling.
George could tell something was wrong. Knowing that Raven was in pain from the ring and not wanting to make it worse, he let her go and started to head to his dormitory. He came up behind her, though, and softly took some of her hair and gently placed it behind her ear. He leaned in close to her and whispered, “I know you can’t say anything back to me, but I love you.” He sweetly kissed her cheek and quietly walked away.
Raven closed her eyes and a lonely tear rolled down her cheek. Another little piece of her heart broke and as it fell, it wept and said “I love you, too.”
When George was out of sight, Raven returned to her books. She looked at the ring. It was doing something it hasn’t done since she put it on. The stone was glowing. She pulled her hand up closer to examine it. Suddenly it hit her. The answer to her riddle: Lucius and Draco aren’t “watching” her. The ring is reacting to her emotions. When her happiness is directed toward someone not Draco or when she’s angry with Draco, the ring hurts her. When Narcissa said that they were watching her, it must have meant that when her emotions aren’t placed where they should, and the ring affects her as it does, they must somehow be able to see that. Maybe the ring has a sister and Draco has it.
Raven ran out of the common room. She didn’t care if she was caught. Fortunately, there was no one around to catch her. She arrived at Snape’s door and knocked fiercely.
Snape threw open the door. “This had better be important.”
“It is!” Raven didn’t wait for an invite and walked right in. “I figured out why the ring hurts me.”
“I’m listening.”
Raven explained her theory to Snape. It seemed very probable the more she talked. It would explain why Draco looked down at his hand when she was happy being near George earlier in the day. It was would also explain why every time she is angry with Draco, she gets dizzy or sick, or experiences mass amounts of pain.
Snape nodded. “That’s a very interesting theory. It does seem plausible.”
Raven smiled. “Of course it’s plausible! I came up with it!”
Snape rolled his eyes slightly. “If it is true that it reacts on your emotions, what are you going to do about it?”
Raven didn’t think that far. “I guess I’ll just become an individual with no feelings; an emotionless person without a soul or heart for others. In other words, you.”
“Did you come all this way to insult me?”
“If only I could. But even you have to admit that I’m right. You’re kind of a party pooper.”
Snape’s eyes said it all. He was annoyed and irritated.
“Look, Uncle Sev, my idea is what’s behind this ring. Surely, that gives you something to work with. Now that we’ve narrowed it down, you’re good to go on the research. This is great news. The sooner we get this fixed the quicker I can get this thing off my finger and move on. Right?”
Snape didn’t seem as excited with her idea as she was. She thought maybe he was tired or perhaps pouting over her “insult.”
There were a few minutes where they didn’t say anything. Raven was giving him time to think although he looked like he froze into a statue because he wasn’t moving. He had the same blank expression on his face. If he didn’t blink every once in a while, Raven could have swore he died. Meanwhile, her face was twisting and scrunching, and her eyes were squinting trying to figure out why he was acting so odd.
Finally, he spoke.
“It really does seem like a good theory,” he said. Raven breathed a sigh of relief when she saw her uncle wasn’t dead. “I’ll do what I can to check on it.”
Raven was expecting a little more. “That’s all?”
“What do you mean, ‘that’s all?’ I told you what I was going to do. The end.”
“You aren’t the least bit excited that we’re on to something?”
Snape just stared at her. “You expect me to show emotion after you said I don’t? You need to make up my mind.”
“See, Uncle Sev? Sarcasm feels good, doesn’t it?” Chapter 23

When it's that good my lovely, I really don't mind waiting!
My favourite line, apart from that last one, has to be:
Raven smiled. “Of course it’s plausible! I came up with it!”
I'm really glad that you've updated and I hope that you are feeling well.

Sarcasm feels good, doesn’t it?” AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! Love it...especially the George parts...ohhhh the ring! BWHAHAHAHA. Can't wait for more.

Anyway, I loved it as usual. Still annoyed to no end by the ring, Draco, etc.
Not really surprised Raven wouldn't be excited and everything over the Beauxbatons and Durmstrang students' arrivals, and her telling off the other student was hilarious.
And I leave you with a quote I thought of during part of this chapter: " . . .To sleep, perchance to dream. . . ." Just had to say it.
Keep the awesomeness coming!
