Let the Rain Come Down

Time Period: Post HBP

Characters: Most of the major characters from the Harry Potter series.

Summary: My story begins after Harry’s sixth year, and in the style of J.K. Rowling, covers his seventh year. Voldemort has been defeated prior to the beginning of the story, however various other threats arise. Harry experiences flashbacks that clue us into what happened leading up to and the final battle. We meet not only Dumbledore, but also Harry’s parents and Sirius.

When I began this story, it was purely a list of questions that I had and hoped would be answered. I began speculating on possible outcomes and scenarios. This story is a compilation of theories that I have gathered throughout the years while reading the Harry Potter series. These are some possible answers to many of the questions that I have asked. This is, in essence, my musings all wrapped up into to one, hopefully enjoyable, reading experience.

Disclaimer: All characters, places, and events are property of J. K. Rowling, the esteemed author of the Harry Potter series. This story is not for profit, but merely for my (and hopefully other’s) pleasure and a means to an end to allow me to concentrate on other things (instead of just Harry Potter

).

AN: This is my first fan fiction and my first real story that I have allowed other people to read. I love constructive criticism and would be most appreciative to any advice that anyone has to help improve my writing.

While I have tried to stay canon with my story, some parts have non-canon ideas in order to make the story flow the way I wanted. I have tried to stay strictly canon with information leading of to HBP, however the future may or may not be canon based. For this I apologize, but hope you enjoy my story none the less.

One more quick note, I am posting this fic on another website, under the same pseudonym, just a quick let know.

Prologue

He awoke suddenly out of a restless sleep. It had happened again. He sat up and drew his knees up to his chest, completely drenched in sweat. He tried to push the remnants of the dream out of his mind as he blindly looked around the room, his eyes unaccustomed to the darkness. Still gasping for air, he tightly shut his eyes in attempts to keep the tears running down his face at bay. Leaning his head back against the wall, he struggled to control the rush of emotions tearing through him.

It had been a week since the last battle where he had battled with Lord Voldemort and against all odds, won. A week since he had destroyed Lord Voldemort’s wand…just in case.

He heard frantic footsteps running down the hall and his door slammed open. “Are you ok honey?” a woman’s worried voice asked him.

A second voice asked from the doorway, “It happened again, didn’t it Harry? When will these nightmares stop?”

"It’s only been a week, James.” The woman chided in hushed tones.

Until this point he hadn’t even realized that he had screamed.

It had been a week since he discovered the true power and meaning of Priori Incantatem

Harry opened his eyes, and tried to smile into the eyes identical to his own, “I’m ok now, Mum. Sorry to wake you, Dad.”

“Nonsense!” dismissed his mother, “You father is just grouchy; he stayed up far too late last night.” Although her voice was sounded stern, she had a twinkle in her eyes and barely repressed her giggle.

Harry rolled his eyes and putting on his glasses, looked at the clock., “6:00am,” he thought, “might as well get up, no use trying to get more sleep.”

As he got dressed he was unable to keep his mind from taking him back.

WOW Awsome posts!!! They were great. the maurders are back together and they have something in store for Harry? This is going to e good.

Oh man this so sux.Im like contagious beyond contagious. Yesterday I woke up with my eyes like glued shut. I think i have pink eye in both eyes, PLUS i might have mild strep throat. Im going crazy.

I have to miss school tomorrow (well im not so upset about that

) But im gonna miss swim practice tomorrow to go to the docter

And if it is pink eye im gonna miss more practice.

But he height of my week is my grandma and my mom got me a laptop! such love

so when i get internet on it ill be able to come visit more often

First, I must say that I suspect that Sirius plans to do some gloating where his mother 'dearest" is concerned! I am just hoping that there is no way she can be a danger to Sirius or the others in some way. Second: New Reader here, and all I can say is Merlin's Beard this is one great exciting story!!!!!! I was sorry to come to this point because now I will have to wait for the next post to read more and I didn't want to stop!!!!!!!

Hey Everyone, I just wanted to let you know that I am well, I am enjoying my vacation although the internet connection is really faulty. I am not going to reply to everyone right now, becuase I have tried to do it three times and the internet keeps shutting down

so hopefully, it will stay up till I get done typing this

I just wanted to let you guys know that I am having seriouse SS withdrawls, but I am typing a whole bunch, not to mention traveling. We went and saw Death Valley, California, it was the first time for me. Very hot, very dry, but lots of history

I miss you all, and I promise a huge post Sunday when I get home (And get to a more stable internet connection

)

I am sorry that I didn't come on yesterday, we got in (safely and all in one piece...barely

) around 2 in the afternoon, and between unpacking, eating and talking with my mother, I was not able to get on

Yes, Andy said he is feeling better today and he's hopeful he'll be okay for Davis Cup. Canas recently came out of a 15 month suspension because of something a doctor had prescribed him. He's in the finals now

You're right. I just looked at the U.S. book cover again and there are shadows of many people on the side. I'm trying to think of what the UK children's cover means. The stuff looks like treasures to me (possible horcruxes?) I like the adult one. That tells me that he is going to find the locket (or at least I hope).

You know, I have never understood why doctors prescribe things to atheletes that end up getting them in trouble with the sport they play, it happens in the Olympics all the time, you would think the doctors would know! Never ceases to amaze me

I am glad that you saw the shadows of people on the book cover also! I wonder what it means. I think he has to find not only the locket (If that is one, which I am sure that it is) as well as the rest, becuase this is the last book and it has to be resloved. At least I would hope she would resolve it anyway!

Oh My Gosh! Are you ok?! Eat lot's of chicken noodle soup! *runs to makes some* I am so allergic to Strep throat, I get it like it is going out of style, at least I used to. I hope you are felling better. My allergies have been acting up becuase of the change in climate for me, but nothing like that!

I am so glad that you like my story! I'm sorry you had to wait for a post *kicks vacations without internet* but I am back now and about to post!

Also, you have suspected correctly (for the most part) and no she is irritating, but harmless (for the most part)

I don't know why the school systems have everyone go on vacation at different times, it is really inconvenient to families. Luckily the College got off at the same time as my boyfriends younger brother's highschool, so we lucked out there. I had fun, but I almost wish I hadn't gone anywhere, I think it would have been a lot less stressful/exauhstive. Don't get me wrong, I did have a good time

Chapter 35: Part Two!

“I don’t know what the last one is Hermione!” Harry’s voice bellowed throughout the house at Number 12 Grimmuald Place. Harry was on the floor leaning against the wall his head in his hands.

Hermione was standing in the doorway of the room that housed the Horcruxes, knowing that this is were he would be. She was almost cowering at the door, afraid of moving as if that might set Harry off again.

Harry looked up, sighing at his friend’s tense stature. “I’m sorry Hermione.” He said, again putting his face in his hands. “You didn’t deserve that. I’m just stressed. I feel like we are running out of time. Here come sit by me.” He patted the floor next to him, motioning her to join him.

Hermione cautiously made her way over to him, easing herself to the ground.

Harry looked up, his mouth opened to say something, when he noticed that Ron and Ginny were tentatively poking their heads around the corner of the door, concerned at his yell.

Sighing again, he motioned to the floor for the two siblings to join them.

Ron strode into the room, swinging his arms. Ginny rolled her eyes, turned on her heal and stomped away.

Harry shook his head silently as Ron dropped to the floor.

“What’s going on?” Ron asked as he dug into his pocket and pulled out a licorice wand. After inspecting it and blowing off some lint, he popped it into his mouth, ignoring the look of disgust from Hermione.

Harry smiled slightly at his friends oblivious behavior before answering, “We are just trying to figure out what the last Horcrux can be.”

Ron paused mid chew, and jumped up and began pacing through the tables, contemplating each object.

Harry looked at Hermione, who shrugged in return. They both stood, and watched Ron in amused silence, wondering what he was doing.

Ron stopped suddenly, a smile on his face. “They answer is right in front of us.” He said proudly, his arms crossed over his chest.

“And what is that, Ron?” Hermione scoffed.

Ron ignored her, and furrowing up his brow, again began pacing the room. “We have five Horcrux here.” He began, ignoring Harry and Hermionie. “We know that,” He gave a small shudder, “Vol-Vol-Voldemort…”

Both Harry and Hermione looked up in alarm, this was the first time that Ron had ever said Voldemort’s name willing.

“…wanted to have his soul split into seven parts.” Ron continued, seemingly drawing strength from the use of Voldemort’s name. “We have five here, plus himself which makes seven, so we need to figure out what happened to the last fragment, right?” He asked, finally stopping to look at Harry and Hermione.

“Right.” Harry said slowly wondering where he was going with this.

“Well,” Ron said, continueing his pacing. “Because he is such a symbolic guy, we can see this by his use of symbolic items that he chose.” Ron motioned to the Founder’s possessions. “He would have wanted to only make Horcruxes from a symbolic, and important kill, right?”

“We have already figured that out Ronald, what is your point?” Hermione asked him in a huff, her irritation clear.

Ron however ignored her completely, earning a shocked gasp.

Harry looked back at his friend, confusion etched on his face.

“What would have been the most important killing, what would he have been waiting to create his final Horcrux?” Ron’s voice had dropped to a whisper.

“I don’t know,” Harry stammered, “Killing my family?”
“Who in particular?” Ron asked, ignoring Hermione’s shocked gasp.

Harry thought about it for a moment, understanding dawning on his face. “What if you’re wrong?” He asked his friend quietly.

“Then we go back to the drawing board.” Ron said cheerfully.

“If we can.” Hermione said grimly.

“Are you ready?” The sound of Sirius’s voice brought Harry back to the present.

“Yeah.” Harry said, shaking his head as though to clear it.

“What were you thinking about?” Sirius asked.

“What do you mean?” Harry asked, glancing at his God Father.

“I stood there for several moments before speaking, you were staring straight ahead, but you obviously weren’t looking at anything.”

“Oh, I was thinking about when we figured out what the last Horcrux was.” Harry smiled slightly at the memory, shocked to find that he could smile at anything that had happened in those months.

“Oh.” Sirius said a frown on his face. “But Dumbledore told me that there were only five, that Voldemort had never been able to split his soul the last time because of you.”

Harry grinned, “Exactly.”

YAY!!! A new post!!! IT was asome. For a moment I forgot that the blue writing ment he was remembering but them i remembered and i got it. THanks for the chiken soup

it made me feel all better. It ended up to be only a throat infection instead of strep. Im still on medication but I feel so much better. Im on spring break right now, right now

But I still had to go to practice at 9 o'clock in the morning. But then again I didnt really mind since I couldnt swim for three whole days because of my pink eye(s). Practice was pretty tough today. So im a little tired.

Anywayz great post! And I hope you still had fun on your vacation (even though you had no internet connecion) PAMS!PAMS!PAMS!PAMS!PAMS!PAMS!PAMS!PAMS!PAMS!PAMS!

I am glad that you are better and that it wasn't strep, although a plain throat infection isn't a picnic either! Is your pink eye better now too? I am glad that you get to practice now, although a three day break would be nice! Have fun on your Spring break, I hope it is more relaxing than mine! The RAIN went away and the sun finally came out. (Except in the story. He! The title). Your back! Yeah! Glad you had a good time on your vacation. :heart2: I also hope you had a good Easter!! Mine was great. :cheers: You know with all the family and all the kids hunting eggs. My daughter got like 5 or 6 different baskets full of candy and toys. I got a cute little bunny too!! :techni:

Well I have to say. I am glad you posted. I love it of course!! :heart2: Keep up with the excellent story. I can't wait for you to post some more. I like the chapter. I finally see about the Horcuxes. It sure took Ron along time to get to the point. Right!! It's okay tho because he was right about it anyway. I feel that Ron is often times under estimated. He sometimes seems to me to portrayed as the silly sidekick, the Robin to Batman, and I don't think that is completly true. I think he is smarter and more capable than people, himself included give him credit for, I mean come on, you can not be a master at chess with out being intellegent. I just feel that he has been ground under the thumb of his brothers for so long that it has taken it's toll on his self esteem. I think it makes it worse because the last child was a girl. I think if Ginny had been a boy, his lot in life and outlook of himself would be different, but that's just me. I wanted to give him a chance to shine, and trust me, this will not be the only time.

There will be alot more Rain before the sun comes out in this story (pay attention to the weather during certain scenes, if it is mentioned it is important

*foreshadowing*)

Ron had to gloat in a sense becuase Hermione hadn't figured it out, he had. She didn't even figure it out until after Harry had figured it out, and that's saying something!

Sirius will breifly go over what he said to his mother, but it is not overly important, just interesting, a character development if you will, but later on we will get to "see" what happened, and it was a little different than he made it sound

Yeah I think my eyes are better. But I still have to take two drops in my eyes each, three times a day and that sux. Im not a fan of putting things in my eyes

Voldemort wasn't ever able to make the last one, he wanted to use Harry to make it, as an act of ultimate symbolism, using the one person who is prophesized to destroy you as the final Horcrux to make you invincible, only, he wasn't able to kill Harry. I am going to try to post more today, but it all depends, my computer at work went on the fritz and it has to be reformated

Hopefully the IT Guy will get here soon and get it taken care of, and then our other IT guy has to come in tommorrow and put our accounting program back on my computer *sigh* so I am not sure how much I can get on in the next 2 days, it all depends on when these guys get here.

I was sitting here, wondering when my IT guy would get here when the door opened and it was my QB IT guy! Here a day early

He got the system back up and working and was about to leave without being able to fix my computer (because it needed to be reformatted before he could) when my other IT guy walked in and low and behold, he knew how to install the program! So within 2 hours I was back up running with a properly functioning Operating system and accounting system! Yay! I don't have time to post another chapter today

but I will tomorrow

I always thought I wouldnt be one of those people where I couldnt put any thing in my eye, But I was so WRONG. Have you seen that episode of friends where they have to hold Rachel down to put the drops in? Yeah thats what my mom has to do to put mine in.

If you never seen that show you probaly I have no idea what im talking about. Anywayz, Cant wait for your next post. Make it nice and long for us, PLEASE!!!
